Deleted answering machine messages from Far Cry 5

I found more unreleased content! Here are three messages that were cut and are not available as sound files, but are still transcribed in the oasisstrings file.

“Cult Follower Female 3” - Holland Valley:

Just need to elaborate on somethin' John Seed said earlier. He said we can't think of these people who're joining us as "prisoners." More like people who've been led astray by the world out there. A world that made them dismiss first and think later. They will say YES to their new lives. We need to give them time. Give them love. Make them feel it.

Adelaide Drubman - Whitetail Mountains:

Alright you limped-dick son of a bitch. What on God's green earth did you say to my Xander? Poor sweetheart's been starin' like a deer in headlights for near an hour, eyeballs big as a kitty-cat's. Said you came by is all. Did you threaten him? I swear on my mother's grave, if you threatened him, I will shove my rifle so far up your ass you won't even hear the gunshot. You have no right to be here. Not you or your damn son. So stay clear, you hear me?!

Tweak - Henbane River:

You destroyed my life. Once I've come down from this high I'm gonna get you somehow

I don’t know why they didn’t make it to the game, especially since they all seem still relevant to me. Maybe they were linked to locations that were eventually cut. I’m just speculating but, for example, it’s possible the inside of Fort Drubman (which is in the Whitetail Mountains) was going to be explorable at some point and Adelaide’s message was on a phone in the house. Also, I really wish I knew who Tweak is talking to...

There’s another recording, still available as an audio file, but that I don’t remember ever hearing in the game.

And there are deleted messages from Joseph (one) and Faith (seven), all in the Henbane River region, but I’ve already talked about them here :)

Pastor Jerome Jefferies features prominently in the Holland Valley storyline. If you take too long to liberate Fall End, he actually ends up doing it. He also saves your character from capture during "The Cleansing".

Aaron "Tweak" Kirby is a drug maker/dealer and features first in the quest "fast", he improves how effective the steroid drug things you're able to take.

grace armstrong - i really just like her because for the most part?? she shuts the absolute fuck up and does NOT try to tell me how tight her shit is every 5 seconds!!! her abilities aren't my favorite/useful to my play style but i like her a lot - she shows faith and dedication to her cause/morals and that is something i admire

tracey lader - god i just?? absolutely love a woman who won't take NO SHIT from NOBODY. i LOVE that she meets the Deputy and isn't immediately kissing ass - you have to earn her respect and show her that you're worth her time and efforts. love, love, LOVE that!!! also the whole may or may not have been in a relationship with Rachel/Faith before The Father rolled into town?? ? ? ? my lil gay heart could implode at any moment. any.

hurkules drubman - listen. as much as i would hate him and his 'come on brosef' frat boy mentality??? he really is one of my favorites solely because he doesn't actually give two FUCKS about what anyone thinks (except maybe his dad if it means cashing in on some super-sick ride or sweet ass presents). he really is just?? out there. doing his thing. starting monkey jesus sex cults. and nobody is gonna stop him (or his rat-4)

aaron kirby (tweak) - i am honestly not even sure why i love this guy. he is?? probably not the best but also i run a jacob seed blog SO who am i really? to say?? ? his mission/s drive me crazy but i really DO love punching zombies SUPER FAST HIYAAAA into a firepit and, like, who wouldn't?? his backstory (like most) is also really heartbreaking.

sharky boshaw - he may be my favorite side/secondary character. i hate taking him out with me because of his incendiary rounds that absolutely set everything on fire including the both of us, but? idk man he once farted audibly in a bush and tried to blame it on someone else and i just? i love him. he is so fucking dumb i'm not sure how he has lived this long and?? his house likely REEKS of urine (both cat and his own from those probiotic piss bottles he's been cashing in on), but?? this is the guy right here. him. love me an equalatist, shorty!!

Not sure if you've already covered this but what do you make of the rotary phones with the creepy messages scattered across Faith's region?

Hello! So, if I’m not mistaken, there are five rotary phones in the Henbane River region. First, we have these two messages:

Administrator’s Cabin: “Civilian Female 06” crying.

O’Hara’s Haunted House: “Civilian Male 03” (probably O’Hara) laughing.

Then these three from Faith:

Mastodon Geothermal Park: Shaja su dajri martiyi. (Wenja greeting; just a Primal Easter egg.)

Eden’s Convent: Rachel's so sad and alone. Once was lost, never found. She led a faithless life and it brought her low. Faith rose up in her, but Rachel stayed low down. Faith flies divine, and Rachel... Rachel gropes around in the darkness. I left her there a long time ago.

The Last Best Resting Place: A baby is a sack of screaming, shitting, crying impulses with no personality, no thoughts, no understanding of the world beyond feelings. It has no soul. You have to give it one. The only soul we ever have, we receive from others. And it is only others who can take it away.

In my opinion, the main reason they exist is simply to add to the unsettling atmosphere of the region. The ones from Faith also give a little more information about her identity and beliefs, so that’s nice!

In fact, there were supposed to be more messages, but since they were cut, I have no idea if they were going to be on rotary phones or regular ones…

Two of them were linked to a mission at the King’s Hot Springs Hotel (maybe its liberation) and referred to as phone calls instead of answering machine messages in the files. They were both from Faith, and while the first one is now unavailable, the second one was her laughing and saying (almost singing), “They’re coming...”

Then, we had seven others from Faith, one from Joseph, and one from Tweak. I’ve already mentioned them but they’re included below the cut too. Faith’s deleted messages are particularly creepy, so my guess is that most of them were going to be found on rotary phones as well to make her (and by extension, the region she controls) sound even more mysterious and scary.

The other deleted messages from Faith:
