Jason would be the enthusiastic third wheel of Sam and Nick. They can play baseball together :D

I LOVE THAT SO MUCH! I can see Jason and Sam playing baseball in the old field by Falls End while Nick has a cougars jersey wrapped around his waist instead of his usual getup cheering them both on and sometimes throwing a ball or two and holding Boomer from trying to get the ball himself. They'd all probably chill in the stands after the game and Sam would probably offer to get a snack afterwards at the bar!

5. What OC has, like, one friend?

- Gonna say my Lone Wanderer, Kate Antilles. She’s friendly with a lot of people she meets, but they often part ways, be it from moving away or passing on. As of the FO4 timeframe, she really only has Dogmeat and Maxson left that she’s really close to.

10. What is your favorite familial relationship between your OCs?

- Definitely Kate and James from FO3. I became deeply invested in their story the first time i played it and it still makes me emotional writing about it or replaying the game and being engrossed in it again. I guess runner up would be Anna and her children, but i have written so little for them that it puts them in second, haha

15. Which OCs get along the worst with each other?

- I’m gonna cheat and say Reese and her brothers. They love and care for one another deeply, but her view on the world and her place in it started to shift from what her brothers had taught her to know and abide by, so they started clashing and butting heads prior to her joining up with Rush and leaving them all behind.

20. Which non-related OCs have known each other the longest?

-This is tough, cause most of my OCs don’t actually meet in canon, haha. Kate and Deckard meet in FO4, but know each other less than a year when those events wrap up...i’ve considered having my Courier, Jem, and Kate meet, so if that ends up becoming canon, then they would have known each other for a few years prior to FO4 events.

25. Do any OCs have imaginary friends?

- Nope (this one was super easy ahdsjasda)

30. How does OC get along with their parents?

- Prior to their deaths, Anna had a very strong, healthy relationship with her parents - she loved them dearly and was never afraid to share anything with them. Losing them

35. What is the most important relationship in OC’s life? 

- Honestly gonna say Boomer, to cheat, lmao. John is very important to her in fic, Sharky is super important to her in game canon and fic, and Hudson, Pratt, and Whitehorse are always centrally important to her in fic and game canon. Boomer is always the number one in her life, so he’s gotta take the top spot

40. Who motivates OC?

- Her colleagues and friends. So Whitehorse, Hudson, Pratt, Sharky, the Ryes, Grace, Jerome, etc.

45. How much do OC’s friends know about their private life?

- Not a whole lot, actually. She was pretty quite and kept to herself prior to the start of the Reaping, so the sheriff and fellow deputies didn’t know a whole lot more than that she was born and bred in Montana, just not in Hope County. Sharky knows the most, followed by Jess, and that’s only the small bits she’s been willing to share with them over the course of the events of FC5. (we’re gonna exclude John, who in fic knows almost everything there is to know about her, since they weren’t friends at that point, lmao)

50. What aspects of OC have, consciously or unconsciously, come from someone else?

- Her commitment to fighting and stopping the Project, her stronger sense of morality, knowing when to show mercy and when to deny it, and just overall wanting to be a better, kinder person all comes from her friends and colleagues. Anna is highly influenced by those who show her attention and affection - for better or worse.

In game canon and her FC5 fic series, she’s positively influenced in many ways by the members of the Resistance, and even the Seeds themselves (intentionally or not). In AU, she’s conversely impacted negatively impacted by the sorts she runs into on the Rook Islands and even Kyrat, and only really positively impacted by Ajay and Jason.

She’s very malleable, because she’s eager to please and can be blinded to the morality, or lack thereof, of the people who give her the recognition and chances she so desperately craves, so it’s very verse-dependent which way she skews

Listen hear me out, I know you guys hate Sabine violently for killing Audrey but I WANT Y'ALL TO ACTUALLY REALIZE WHAT THIS BABY HAS GONE THROUGH

- She watched her brother die right in front of her after being traumatically kidnapped by pirates

- She is then tortured by the leader of said pirates for days

- Her other brother, who she's been fighting with on the island, is seduced and manipulated by the leader of the native tribe on the island, she gets in a fight with him after watching him murder his own girlfriend that ends with her killing him

- Sabine has never forgiven herself for what happened and believes with all her heart that Jason ( the brother she killed ) hates her for not saving him

- She has to go into another war torn country to save her little brother Riley whose crashed in Kyrat.

Post Far Cry 5 Headcanons

So my personal headcanon is that the Bliss that Joseph spills while going on his rant created hallucinations of the Apocolypse in all the people exposed to it. Sssssh I like happy endings and Rook is sure as hell going to get one.

- The Fangs for Hire disappear first. Maybe even before the shooting starts. Peaches slinks around Joseph's compound, sharp eyes taking in the bullet holes and blood. She keeps to the island until the big prey disappear, the  heads off into the wilds. (She will defs reappear once Rook does.)

- Cheeseburger makes his way back home after about a week of wandering. He's hungry and a bit confused - and maybe been through a few dumpsters on the way - but no one can prove that.

- Boomer follows the Deputy's scent to Dutch's island almost immediately. He finds the bunker easily enough and the car soon after. It's his barking that brings Whitehorse to consciousness, and his insistence for him to move that gets the other people in the car moving despite the bruises and broken bones.

- Whitehorse's collarbone is all but shattered from where he hit the windshield. He's got  whiplash, he's in a massive amount of pain...but he's still Whitehorse. He's going to lead his Deputies out of this hellhole if it kills him.

  - After very slowly and painfully managing to lean himself back into the chair of the truck Whitehorse works on waking up the others.

- Hudson's hurt probably the least of the three but refuses to leave either behind while she can still see the world's destruction around her. She forces Whitehorse to his feet and calls Pratt to get his other side, they're getting the fuck out of this place.

- Poor Pratt is in a bad way mentally. He's still seeing the fires burning around him, licking at his legs with every step he takes. The pain of the crash is all consuming. He whines and whimpers as they make their way toward Falls End. If he keeps his eyes closed while he walks, no one calls him out on it.

- Most of the Hope County natives ran to Fall's End when they saw the end coming, but as soon as they hit other people are talked down from absolute panic. One of the Whitetails at the Spread Eagle calls over Dr Lindsay to sedate the most panicked of the group. They're eventually moved to the county jail's med bay to ride it out.  

- It takes about two days for the Bliss to finally wear off everyone completely. It's a slow process, with all the people Joseph drugged coming out of it at different rates. Those exposed to large amounts of Bliss in the past come out slowest and have the most vivid hallucinations.

- Kim Rye shows up with her newborn on her hip, all fierce eyes and furious words until she can rush to Nick. He's barely awake and keeps telling her to run, to get away while she still can, but Kim refuses to leave him while he's so scared. (Nick is NOT ALLOWED to hold the baby during this time for obvious reasons.)

- Grace is fucking scary even when she's panicked. She grips the side of the bed until her knuckles are white with tension and stares down the monsters coming for her. Even when she's aware enough for the desolate deserts of Afghanistan and the fire of the world's end to fade, she still jumps at nothing. 

- Jess FIGHTS. She screams, claws, bites, kicks, anything to get out of the restraints. If it wasn't for two pairs on handcuffs she would have disappeared into the woods. Fuck hellfire, Jess does what she wants.

-  Sharky screams too, but more in the vein of 'COME AT ME APOCALYPSE!' He's actually strangely easy to get to stay in bed. He might jump out and holler at something but will immediately return to bed when told.

- Hurk is basically just stoned. He talks to Jason, Takkar and Ajay a lot. Hurk seems pretty okay with the idea of the world ending, but to be fair Hurk is surrounded by fire and explosions like 85% of the time anyway.

Far Cry 5 | Review

Far Cry 5, Ubisoft’s latest outing into what has been dubbed ‘murder tourism’, has been mired in controversy since the first trailers came out. As soon as certain people learned that the primary antagonists were members of Montana-based murderous doomsday cult loosely based on some vague interpretation of the bible, they were quick to call it a ‘Christian killing simulator’ and later a ‘white genocide simulator’, because this is the latter half of the 2010s, and therefore everything is part of a grand conspiracy concocted by social studies students in order to make the Star Wars franchise worse and stop actual innocent people from being actually murdered. I would call it Orwellian, but Orwell was insightful and brilliant, and to bring him into this would be insulting. This is more like experiencing a skittle-induced headache while listening to your racist uncle’s views on how things were a whole lot better when minorities just stayed quiet about their subjugation.

Soon though, as we got to see more of the game, the controversy fog cleared, and people began to realise that people who kidnap people and drown them in hallucinogenic baptism pools might be bad people regardless of the god they follow and the colour of their skin, and people were just as happy to mow them down as much as they were when the Far Cry enemies were pirates or asian. However, all was not well for Ubisoft’s best franchise (fight me, Assassin’s Creed fans), for people, in that truly magical way of theirs, still found things to complain about.

First off, the setting. I heard a lot of people complain that rural Montana was pretty boring compared to the series’ usual far-flung, exotic places like Kyrat or Rook Island, and maybe this is the secret redneck in me, but personally, I really enjoyed Montana. The world felt bigger and denser. Looking back on it, Far Cry 4 was just a jungle with some story missions, villages and endangered animals to slaughter. Hope County, Montana has forests, mountains, rivers and crucially, hardly any radio towers. Instead, areas of the map are revealed far more organically, with conversations, maps, road signs and exploration. It was an incredible evolution for the franchise. What’s more, there’s countless characters who can give you missions, which, unless it involves collecting baseball stickers or something, makes it easy to earn resistance points (resistance points are necessary to move forward in the story and are earned by doing missions, liberating outposts, etc. I will say, however, that they can become a bit of a grind once you’ve done all the big story missions).

Another aspect of Far Cry 5 that caused a great deal of murmuring in the comments section was the player character. In previous installments of the franchise, the player character was an actual named character the player controlled, such as Jason Brody or Ajay Ghale. In Far Cry 5, however, this has been scrapped for a customisable silent protagonist simply known as The Deputy, because while the sheriff was shot, the Deputy was famously not (that sounds like a joke, but it’s actually not). This was a ballsy move from Ubisoft, as the protagonist has always been a signature element of the series; a fish out of water slowly becoming master survivalist and all-round killing machine (except Ajay, who doesn’t even flinch when he kills his first man and proceeds to dumbfoundedly agree to become a one-man guerrila army and take out an entire fascist regime because apparently he’s Jason Bourne or something). But Pagan my Min if the silent protagonist in Far Cry 5 isn’t somehow incredibly endearing. Maybe it is the fact that they’re silent, because then you can imagine them as literally anyone. I wasn’t trust-fund douche Jason Brody or blank-faced terminator Ajay Ghale, I was The Deputy, who I imagined as a strong-willed, kind-hearted, Native American woman who knew how to kick ass, take names and fly WWII era fighter planes for some reason. Furthermore, I got attached to the people of Hope County a hell of a lot more than I did to the people of Kyrat or Rook Island. Maybe it was just because because I could enlist them to kill cultists for me, but I had a real affection for them. I never cared what Pagan Min did to Sabal or Amita, but if Joseph Seed even looked at Nick Rye or Jess Black the wrong way, I would beat his ass straight into a Rabbids game.

I loved Far Cry 4, and if you had asked me straight after I finished it what I wanted the next one to be about, I would said Oh, you know, a fish out of water fighting a militia in the jungles of, I don’t know, Peru or something. So basically, same shit, three years later. And Ubisoft could have done that, but they didn’t, they made it different, they took chances and in my opinion, made it better. If you’re one of those people who just wants the same thing over and over again with only minor changes, then good news, Far Cry 3 is still great and you can still play it. But if you want something new, then that’s even better, because Far Cry 5 stands a good chance of becoming my game of the year for 2018.

Oh wait, Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming out this year. Well, Far Cry 5 is still great, anyway.

Deputy Jason Hale & Nick Rye

It was hard to recall how they got pinned down into the shed, Nick could hear one Peggie shout but could not understand the orders, it was one of those “you needed to be there to know” types of situations. The voices were getting close and closer, that’s all he needed to know at the moment. 

Jason, which had a trail of blood running down his temple, was looking out from a window, trying to count them, size them up. But both knew neither could stand a chance, too much of them and them too tired and little, Molotov's out of the question, the grass is too dry, it would kill all of them.

“Shit, shit, shit.” It all came down to time. When the Peggies are gonna get them or Jason and Nick get graced with a miracle. Nick bit inside his cheek, hard. It was the time of truth. He was scared.

“Nick.” He turned around to see Jason, his scope back into his belt and rummaging through his backpack. He finally fished out a police radio and tape. “I need you to trust me.” 

“What do you want me to do?” Jason quickly asserted the tools for whatever he was planning to do.

“Hold my hand, Nick,” Jason said, shushed, low, calm like his everyday self, like he just asked him to go for more beer.

“And then what?! You’re gonna show me the world?” He didn't mean to raise his voice, even though it's not by much, it was not out of anger but anxiety. 

“Even better, the way out of here.” But Jason’s voice remains the same. He knows. He always knows somehow. 

“I’m sorry-”

“I know. Now, do you trust me?”

He nodded, Jason smiled, through the dirt and grim, and it was contagious. 

Jason pressed the radio on, it made a “tic-tic” sound, trying to scoop any airwave to latch on. He then wrapped it with tape and offered his hand, Nick took it.

“You and me, partner.”

As if they were kindergartens again, they hold hands, tight. 

Jason dragged him outside before throwing the radio-”bomb” in the Peggie’s direction, all of them yelled and backed off,  but before they could piece together what had happened Jason and Nick were long gone.

The congregation gathered around the entrance, loud people he vaguely recognized in passing for working near the ranch grounds. The chatter was ecstatic with awe and reverence.

And if he were a modern Moses, the sea of people opened at his step, revealing the short man, Jason, which scanned the room with a half-smirk like a coyote looking for his prey. Then they locked eyes and the way his eyes sparked John felt vile in his stomach rise.

How dare he?

"John!" Jason soon shouted, saccharin, something like getting the first blood.

"Jason!" He boomed, maybe a little louder for how his regular followers looked at him. "Welcome, welcome!"

John soon took hold of Jason's hand and wheezed, hard. All the while showing his white pearl teeth. One night, high off his mind, he remembered watching a documentary but chimpanzees; how they smiled to show hostility. John had thought that was bullshit and just belly laughed.

Until now.

Which Jason after chuckling returned the squeeze, harder, and after it started to ache, the fucker snapped his own fingers, still on the handhold, somehow hitting the base of John's thumb. It hurt, a lot, but he didn't flinch.

John smiled harder instead, now feeling the night air hit his gums.

'I must look like a lunatic.' He thought.

Jason apparently not satisfied yet or maybe testing his limits, then went ahead and took him into a crushing hug. Which John still smiling, had to grit his teeth.

"So glad to see ya, Johnny boy!" And even though far shorter than himself, Jason could lift him, which of course he did, making John wiggle like a rag doll. After Jason saw that was punished enough, he finally put him down which allowed him to regain air and as if his patience were a broken window, collect the little pieces he still got left.

"Well, I always love to get well received. " Jason then scanned the ranch, as if he didn't live there, like what John would suppose a Drill Sargent would look when going to the cadets' barracks, looking for the minor split of a frog's hair to discipline his troop.

The thing was: Jason wasn't supposed to come tonight, he wasn't supposed to be here, at all. Most of the Seeds tried to make an act of appearance on the Ranch at least once a month, depending on how busy they were. Faith took it as expected: religiously, always making a little crook for coming at least to dine and having the lucky "aim" always be the same nights as Joseph. One night when he canceled last minute had Faith looked like someone peed on her lemonade.

Jacob's were sparse and too far in between, he always made sure to send a cut of meat, either deer, duck, or fish that could last days and one time, even weeks. Which made John sick with the smell and sent down some of his chosen to donate down at Fall's end.

And finally, Jason, which to his dismay, he'd come regularly. Of course, always brings his followers on tow, but mostly Rye and Armstrong, Jason's left and right hand. If he couldn't come down either because, as more recently, have been busy or had decided to dine with Jacob (which say cut of meat then had a note from both) or Jason was generally indisposed, he'd sent either Grace or Nick, which the first was silent and pensive, while the latter although chatty he'd manage to keep enough information to himself.

But always, as if rule ordained by The Lord when Jason came to dine, he'd stay the night, a long, rowdy, lousy, full of his chosen, night. Of course, the main show for Jason was finding new and innovative ways to make him lose his patience, the little by little, the better.

Just one-night John thought. Just one night and he's gone.

"Well, if you had informed me, you were coming down tonight, we would've had a dinner prepped for all of us." His cheeks were starting to hurt and John knows he's nowhere near the end of this encounter.

"No need, we brought our own meat servers," Jason pointed back at the truck behind him, which John took a look at the movements between each men's chosen, helping one another to happily carry the meats to the freezers. By the clear comradely between the two groups it seemed like they've brought their little circus act.

"But thanks for the consideration." He brought him back down, on a tone that most would've seen as charming, but John knew full well, was condescending.

Jason made a signal to Grace and Nick to enter, when Armstrong entered, her eyes scanned the place for any irregularity, then her eyes cross with the bag of ... "Grass" John had on the coffee table. Her eyes shot back at him, hard gaze.

John Smiled at her and his stomach felt progressively dropping down all the rings of hell, as more and more cuts of meat were brought out of the trucks, not only that but also equipment, guns, ammo, bulletproof vests.

John knows they're well stock at the ranch with those already. What on hell.

"Well, you haven’t told me why you are here." John felt his shirt stick to his back, like a snake shedding skin.

"Take an educated guess, Johnny. "

He felt his nostrils open in frustration but hold enough to make it look like just a strange face twitch, just half-there expression.

Which, to his dismay: Jason picked on, by the way, his thick eyebrow raised and smirked.

Jason's long braids moved like pendulums when the man slowly approached the long armrest, turning his back to him. After circling the piece of furniture one time he sat on it, exhausted.

He turned to John and then pointed with his gaze to the other couch, all the while his crooked smile never leaving his lips, genuine, enjoying the prospect of making John squirm.

"A little bird told me you were having some "issues"."

"That's under con-"

"5-grain elevators blown. Two of which almost spread on the adjacent crops, fuel tanks that pass through your region seem to mysteriously disappear." Jason pressed his lips and his eyes looked above as if he was formulating a thought, he tapped his chin. "I wouldn't call that under control."

John's fists were sweaty, not only for the nerves, which at this point were cut by the raising, raging, vile on his stomach. He felt the pain of his own nails digging into his skin and the articulations start to bother him for making too much force on so little room.

"I know we are having some... tribulations for the moment, but we'll find a way to pull through. Isn’t that what we always do, brother?"

Jason's smirk slowly got larger and larger, like he was in a joke that John wasn't yet.

"Oh really?" He leans forward his hand on his knee. "Then tell me, John, no, walk me through IT."

Or maybe... Jason was about to deliver the punchline.

"Tell me: How you plan to get back Deputy Joey Hudson?"

If John's throat were a well, not even a needle could pass through.

He didn’t register when he got up, only his leather shoes tapping frantically through the wooden floor from the Ranch's living room all the way to the dining table.

John stabbed with his finger on the now long faded pad numbers. He marked the number that he knew by heart now.

A long tone was heard on the other line, trying to get the other phone.

And then another one.

And another one.

"John." A stutter voice answered.

“Where is she?”

2. How old are they?

37 years old by 2018.

3. What’s their style like? (Clothing style, hats, gloves, masks, etc.)

Jason is all about practicality and it shows throughout his outfits on all regions, he wears a tank top on John's, a bomber jacket on Faith's and a turtle neck on Jacob's, altho he always wears bulletproof vests ans gloves.

Even before the collapse, he wears denim and logo shirts, the wackier the logo on the thing and the more 'I came from a wack gift shop beside the road" is the more he likes it. Of course, he's also not against plain ole shirts.

4. What type of weapons do they prefer?

Living is such a rural place like Hope County it's basically a 'must know' the handling of guns. So, he prefers shotguns, especially his own, its called lemon pie, he has another shotgun but that's more in case of emergency thing since it was his mother's, it's hidden near his house. He also knows how to use handguns.

Jason doesn't like the smell of powder that it leaves on the hands, so he always procures to wear gloves.

5. What’s their outfit (transportation) like?

This big pick-up patrols but since he was suspended, he uses his old beat-up car, she old but she's been through thick and thin with the Hales. She lasted 20 years, so, she may last 20 many more.

6. Do they like what they do? (Deputy, Cultists, totally non-partial bystander just waiting for the chance to shoot someone, etc.)

Deputy, he basically helped train other younger deputies, he went out of town but since he's back, Jason asked for his job back... But he was recently suspended :)

7. What are their thoughts on the cult?

Wack jobs, he cannot understand why they'll go into it or why not go back home. Well, imagine this dude's face when his best friend forever and ever, used to do grown-up pajamas with was a key part. (and that doesn't even begin to cover it)

8. What’s their first thought when they took the first step in Joseph’s chapel? Alt: What’s their first thought when Joseph announced to go out for the reaping?  

Creeps. Nothing but the creeps.

9. How do they feel about the preppers?

The OTHER wackjobs in town. But well, they got the best shelters in case of anything right?

10. How about Dutch? Do they get along with?

Father figure. Jason is one of the last people Dutch considers that care about him, Dutch used to be a hunting partner with Jason's mom, so he basically saw him grow up. (I've got more story abt this that also involves Dutch wife but I wanna write that at more length later on.)

The thing is Jason goes to take a look at Dutch every now and then. Also might or might not take him out of trouble with the Sherrif's department.

11. First thoughts on the Seed family?

He wasn't so sure, he'd only ever met Jacob previously, it wasn't until Jacob asked him to come to church with him that he got the first taste of the Seeds. It wasn't pleasant but not something he quite could've put his finger on why. Jason just mark it as maybe not begin used to going to church or something. Needless to say, Jacob got the memo and hanged outside the church.

12. What’s the region they feel most connected to? 

Whitetails, he leaves near the place, it's quiet, he has been most of this life there riding dirt bikes with friends long gone out of state or stealing his mom's car to go into Falls End for a Midnight ride and his sister tagging along.

13. From the GFH/FGH which one they get along with the most?

Nick Rye and Grace. Nick is Jason's best friend begin the same age and also stuck on Hope's they quickly made it not only work but genuinely liked each other, they're were joined by the hip.

Grace is also a long-time friend of Jason, he's one of the few people she's able to open up fully. Jason says Grace is a great comedian but folk as yet to see her tell one.

14. From the Police department which one they get along with?

Whitehorse and Hudson. Whitehorse was in the same slot as Dutch, which he also saw Jason grow up, but Whitehorse takes a more "disciplinary" figure, he cares deeply about Jason and his future, he wanted him to be Sheriff since that basically settle him for life that until Jason left town, which in turn made him furious. He still ofc cares abt him.

As for Hudson, she was Jason's brightest you could say, she has teeth for the job and has a head on her shoulders. Jason respects her but also knows although very capable, she's doesn't have everything figured out.

15. From Fall’s End which person they get along with?

Mary-May, Jason used to be pals with her dad. Later became more friends with her, they used to play at arcades or look at old discs and trade some vinyls. Sometimes Jason will distract her while Nick messes with the jukebox
