What is Kobayakawa’s damn Palace?

He thinks the school is... something that belongs to him. Something he has created and takes credit for. Something that needs to LOOK good. Something he wants to impress people with. The students, the teachers, the facilities, all that is incidental to the school as a composite entity. The students aren’t the product, the school is the product, though he isn’t literally trying to sell it.

Idea #1: A competitive formal garden. (Kamoshida is represented by a splendid central water feature.) Problem A: How much is competitive formal gardening even a thing, in Japan or elsewhere? Problem B: Outside would be odd for a Palace. 

Idea #2: A world’s fair/world expo pavilion. Because those are basically a country showing off/advertising itself in general, right? Problem A: It seems like there’s too much variation for “a world expo pavilion” to be any good at all as a description. Problem B: All the recent ones are ecology-themed anyway.

Idea #3: Some other sort of trade expo. Problem: That is by definition a gathering of things all trying to advertise themselves individually, not one thing.

Idea #4: Something else big that people enter into contests. All the ideas I’ve seen wouldn’t work as Palaces, sound beneath Kobayakawa’s dignity, or both.

Idea #5: A Rube Goldberg machine? Something complicated operating only for its own sake, not for any exterior purpose?

Idea #6: A really unnecessarily elaborate building he’s the architect of?

Idea #7: A ballet or something?

It's nearing the election here in Norway. And everyday my contempt for the "Christian" party KRF grows stronger.

Yesterday in the local news they showed that the LGBTQ+ flag had been hoisted outside one of the official government buildings to celebrate the local Pride festival that kicked off this week.

Every political party besides KRF approved of this.

And every party will be at the parade to show their support... Except KRF.

So fuck them. Fuck them and their backwards and hideous ideas.
