ML AU where at some point before "Emilie's" death, Emilie and Amelie swapped places. Something something dutiful daughter and adventurous daughter, something something Emilie got bored with Gabriel while Amelie just wanted to get away from Colt Fathom.

Solution: parent trap but it's husband trap and the trap part is more literal

Emilie gets rid of Colt and gets to live a fun life with the surly son, occasionally showing up at Agreste Manor to put on the performance of her lifetime. (Remember? She was an actress!)

Amelie, who was sick after years of living under her parents' and husband's thumb gets to spend her last year chilling with a doting but distant husband and the sugar and spice and everything nice boy.

shauna’s had the same thought herself,  but she never lets it go very far.  she can’t.   even in high school,  when she got into brown,   it was hard to let herself dream.   jackie was always there in her ear reminding her of the life they were going to live together—  shared dorm room,  shared college experience,  never moving on from each other.  something about it didn’t feel right,  though;   she didn’t know how to be without her,  but that felt like the problem,  like she needed to figure out who she was beyond her best friend.  that’s why she did the things she did,  betrayed her the way she did,  let her down the way she did.  but now,  on the other side,  she’s lost both the person she could have been when breaking free from jackie’s shadow and the person she was in it,  down to nothing now,  except for jeff’s wife.  that’s why it’s been so hard to see mikayla as driven as she is—  because after everything she’s been through,  all the time she’s lost on top of what time shauna had lost herself,  how could she get there?  and why could shauna never do the same?

she doesn’t look up at her,  only focuses down on the book she’d been reading in an effort to help mikayla along.  she wouldn’t admit it out loud,  but this has been the most thrilling her life had been in years—  a thought that threatens to reveal to shauna she’s only trapped herself in a life that wasn’t hers.  it’s someone else’s,  a role shauna’s forced to play now,  to make up for all she’s done and all she’s taken away from the person she loved most.  she’s miserable,  but she deserves it;   still,  studying,  and almost allowing herself to pretend she’s the one going to school now, after everything,  gives her the chance to feel something other than boredom for a change.

For me it's always going to be people who keep Pokémon without any thought as to their enrichment and needs. You do not need a fucking Arcanine, you live in a studio apartment and don't walk more than a block a day. You think you want a Gardevoir but are you okay with having an unknowable creature reading your thoughts every waking moment of the day? Even while you do... the nasty?

It drives me crazy because people see a Champion and think they have the time, energy, money, and space necessary to raise a Dragon type. Unless you have generational wealth, let me spell it out for you: you do not have the funds for a Dragon type. And yes! Charizard is on that list, guys! You can't even afford to feed yourself!

Did you know that most Ponyta prefer to be in a herd? Are you going to have the space for that? Did you know that if you don't properly care for certain fire species their flame goes out? Sure, they're cute when they're small: but unless you're a rancher or a Gym Leader... I'm sorry. You're gross to me if you think otherwise. I hate people like that.

And for the record, rat and bug Pokémon are very valuable from an ecological standpoint. They hold an extremely important niche. People like you would rather they be hunted to extinction because they're pests, not pretty. It's disgusting.
