annie isn't implanted. both her parents have combat implants, being vets, and her father had both of his legs replaced by prosthetics. a couple of them in the band have varying degrees of chrome, lonnie has a recording implant that'll catch their shows and broadcasts, archives them on an encrypted laptop with more ICE than might be strictly necessary. jess has a more advanced version of a cochlear implant. but annie has none. this makes a few things harder for her technically, but she considers the payoff better.

Amalia and Kellan settling down on Thunder Junction. Glad he's tired of moving around. The Omenpath Arc seemed a little rushed with him in each set. I'm going to need at least one story of them on Thunder Junction before we see them again anywhere else. I wonder what Annie thinks of the Fae and the Vampire?

Outlaws of Thunder Junction Side Story Review
No Tells: I knew there had to be some indigenous species, and cactus people certainly count. Also, narrator dude, you ran away before the first sign of danger, that makes you a coward. There are ways of leaving without disappearing with money.
On the bright side, this story confirms it's been more than a year since the Phyrexian Invasion. That doesn't really explain how all the infrastructure of Thunder Junction got built, but I guess having magic makes building trains easier.
Blood Is Thicker Than Venom: Ms. Annie Flash, you couldn't even kill a couple rattlewurms without feeling guilty. You are NOT an outlaw. Glad to see your nephew is doing well; I was worried we were gonna have a morphine addiction subplot going there for a second. Also, I hope we get to meet your people someday.
A Long Way From Home: Nashi is the best boy. He's trying his best and we love him for that. The revelation that story magic is basically watching someone do something, then doing that yourself is kinda hilarious. I hope we see more of Nashi (and Obeka) in the future.

An Oko x Rowan dark romance in which Rowan Kenrith, now a villain herself, arrives in Thunder Junction and finds her place amongst the other outlaws there. Rated M.
Snippet
The Eldraine planesfolk. They were already here for their princess. And who knows what else would follow in their wake.
No. NO!
Damn it, she knew it. She should have sent those kids away the moment they stepped foot in her yard. “Lydia, go into the barn and stay by Fortune. If anythin’ happens, you take him and you run, you understand? He won’t need a saddle.”
Her voice reduced to choking blubbers, Lydia nodded.
“Good girl. Git now.”
The teen scrambled away into the stable while Annie swung her shotgun from her shoulders to her hands. These new planesfolk were gonna quickly learn today that powder and metal were just as effective as fire and lightning.
There was a hole in her house where the front door used to be, the wood around it charred and smoking.
A black cat launched itself across the yard in a streak of obsidian, followed by a furious scream: “You get back here, you bastard!” The sleeping princess now stood within the hole, wearing only Annie’s shirt and a face fuming with rage. She fired another bolt of angry red lightning from her sparking hands, narrowly missing the cat as it leaped out of the way, and another explosion rocked through the air.
The cat shifted into Oko. “H-hey, that was close!” he cried with a lingering feline yowl.
“Then stay still.”
“But you called to me! Do you really want to kill me?”
“Considering your insufferable face is the first thing I saw this morning, yes, I absolutely do.”
“But I’m so cute – YIKES!”
He shifted, and the cat darted away before a sudden lightning bolt could kill it where it once stood. The shock of magic knocked it off balance, and it rolled in the dirt. He stood to his feet as Oko again, dusty and shaky.
“Princess, please listen – !”
“No!” the girl yelled back, and her voice choked a little from emotion. “I don’t want to hear anything a snake like you has to say!”
“You’re angry, Rowan. I get it. But I swear to you, on the Pact between us, I am not your enemy!”
“Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!!!”
Annie shivered because the temperature around her plummeted as all the heat in the air seemed to suck into a vortex toward the enraged girl. The atmosphere thickened with ozone and tingled with static. The sky darkened and thunder rumbled directly overhead. A ball of electric light in the angriest shade of red Annie had ever seen began to grow between Rowan’s palms, and Annie knew deep within her gut that the moment that magic unleashed, not just Oko, but all of Saddlebrush would be a smoldering crater.
Annie raised her shotgun into the air and fired.
The shock of such a loud sound, louder than a thunder clap, louder than even Rowan’s magic, froze the two in place. Rowan’s lightning sizzled to harmless static, the heat returned to the air, and the clouds rolled on their way. Even Oko, who was used to the technology of Thunder Junction by now, had never been this close to a double-barrel metal tube of sudden death before. He stared at it with wide eyes, looking a little green around the gills.
For a moment, Annie still couldn’t speak. What the hell was going on? Why were these two still here? How could Rowan conjure up such powerful magic? Where was her mana coming from? Where were her pants!? What was it with today’s youth and lack of clothes!?!
But all the old woman could manage was, “Just what in the hell happened to my door!?”

Annie Oakley
“Only a man with something to hide would act like he did!”
I agree. Much safer for you and Tagg if you tie him up securely, Annie.

So I was just curious, in the road not taken, Annie and the reader have moved in together and have pretty much completely committed to spending the rest of their lives with each other, but they still refer to each other as their girlfriend. So, obviously, they aren't married, but I was just curious. Does one/both of them want to be? Or is it just a case of labels not meaning much to them? If this is something lore important that'll come up later, you don't have to answer, but if it's not, I’m curious to what the reasoning around that is.
TLDR; oh HELL to the yes. i will definitely be addressing the status of their relationship in the main plot!
let's be real, though. Annie DOES NOT care about getting married. i feel this pretty strongly actually. i love her to death and obviously, the idea of a wedding fills my heart with joy. but she would not be the one pushing to get married, she would think that's too excessive. the way Annie sees it - they live together, they sleep together, they're vulnerable with each other, they support each other, and basically every other thing that defines a married couple. what's the point of a little ceremony? it's not like it would change their relationship. even at the current moment of the story, they've BEEN together in every way that matters, for years. Annie considers them already married in every way that matters.

annie outlaw quests, a loose outline :
turn on the radio - while v is driving out toward the badlands, their radio station gets hijacked. a woman with a lilting drawl comes on the stereo announcing that the rambling rocker, miz annie outlaw, is performing sans her roguish band of outlaws, courtesy of the wraiths who managed to nab her while she was kicking it near night city. the performance is gonna be one night only, so be sure to scoot your boots over to - here the message cuts off, the radio station goes back to normal. v can trace it back using a radio tower and find her being held against her will at a wraith’s hotspot. if you get her first, she’ll help you shoot your way out.
goodbye, earl - a couple days, you’ll get another message from annie. this time via phone call. she’ll offer you a job in getting her latest input, a guy named earl, and the man who ditched when they were attacked by wraiths and she got kidnapped. v’s directed to leave him alive and bring him to her and the band at some chooh station. she’ll pay you and send you on your way, while you hear her and lonnie starting a less than playful interrogation with earl. or she’ll offer you a bonus to help them get rid of earl once they’re done figuring out who else he tattled to.
two more bottles of wine - another call, after the earl situation. less a gig, more of annie inviting you onto her broadcast to drink and shoot the shit. depending on dialogue choices, it can take a flirtatious turn, or be really pleasant, or be the most awkward shit. things go sideways when a group of militech guards show up to interrupt. you help her ditch along with band and then you split up after.
gunpowder and lead - annie’ll call v up and offer them another gig. she wants to go after the militech agents that have been on her tail, after she got just a little too comfortable overtaking their radio frequencies. if you ask if any of her bandmates are coming, she’ll wave it off and say it’s just the two of you. she wants to sabotage their vehicles, communications, and turrets and leave them stranded before heading in to take them out. you can convince her to just do the former if you have enough cool. she’ll be miffed, but console herself with the fact that they might starve. she’ll still wanna burn everything down which is … the less lethal option.
boot scootin’ boogie - congrats, this call is just to invite v to a gig. no drama. well, actually, the local sheriffs aren’t too keen on some nomad band playing. you have the option to watch the crowd for them and knock them out before they get to annie.
after you meet annie, a new station will appear on your radio. the frequency changes every couple days, but on it you’ll get country - including annie’s band.

Oko: Let me introduce you to the team. Rakdos can start a brawl on demand-
Rakdos: Sup.
Oko: Annie Flash, who knows everything worth knowing in Thunder Junction-
Annie: Hello.
Oko: Vraska, who can kill anyone with a look-
Vraska: *nods in greeting*
Oko: and Tinybones who's just a little guy.
Tinybones: [friendly bone noises]
Kellan: Nice to meet you all! I already know of some of you... But aren't I encroaching on Tinybones' "just a little guy" thing?
Oko: Nothing wrong with having more little guys.
Tinybones: [agreeing bone noises]

Kaervek as illustrated by Cristi Balanescu
With the latest episode of Thunder Junction's magic story, we're introduced to Oko's gang of Outlaws as Annie Flash decides to take him up in his offer. We learn that it was Ashiok who actually hired them to find the vault which is known as Maag Taranau. Akul and the Hellspurs built the town of Tarnation around the vault in an attempt to control it. Okoi was hired to find the keys to the vault.
Anyway, Oko has a larger gang than we thought. Along with Annie and Kellan, there is Rakdos and Vraska, Tinybones and Eriette, Malcolm and Breeches, Gisa and Geralf, and Kaervek and Satoru. A thirteen man gang to break into a vault believed to hold "RAW POWER!" as exclaimed by Breeches.

fuck it. silt verses oc masterpost. eat up.
- anastasis crane - god-hunter, atheist, and wandering vagabond. both predator and prey in a single being. does dirty work so others don't have to. it's ya boy annie.
- house crane - old money cult family who rebranded after their god was outlawed following the imago war. now they construct and review binding contracts for both peninsulan and linger straits bodies of commerce and government - with an emphasis on the "binding" aspect. rumour has it they've been granted special dispensation to keep practicing their illegal and rather nasty banned rituals, so long as they're discrete and keep providing their services to the people who matter. they don't mix much with anyone outside of the family except on business, and are rarely seen in public. it's generally agreed that the reports of many of them being not altogether human are just scary stories for children, but a few people have claimed (under the influence of a few rounds at the local bar) to have known someone who worked for someone high up in business or politics who can confirm the truth of such claims with their own eyes. of course, these people have generally since disappeared, which makes corroboration difficult. their characteristic spindly, spidery features are probably just a product of ancestral aristocratic inbreeding. probably.
- fen kahron - ferryman presiding over a treacherous stretch of marshland. you will not be able to cross without her help, but that hasn't stopped people from trying, either out of principle or to avoid the toll, which takes the form of something of personal value to the individual. fortunately, her god's mouth is always open. she's not terribly fond of the parish of tide and flesh - her relationship to her god is personal, and they keep trying to convert her. which is silly, really, because she's been dead for a very long time.
- the carrion-herald / the bleach-bone king - an angel/saint(?) of death and decay that feeds on the dead and dying in extreme, remote environments where rescue or retrieval is unlikely. his coming is heralded by his halo of carrion birds seen circling overhead. those who worship him see this as a sign of luck - either you've been chosen to meet him, or to bear witness to his procession.
- harmony joy - a love-saint who leads a dancing plague. once human, she called a god into her in her aching loneliness after being ostracised utterly from her community and forced to bear witness to their collective happiness together, which blessed her to dance forever so beautifully that she would never want for a partner again. she might seem sentient at first, but spend long enough in her company (not recommended) and you'll soon realise that her apparent personality is simply a fragmented collection of lovingly preserved scraps of her past lovers, who, once in her thrall, will dance until their bodies give out, even if their minds should break and skin and sinew should snap and be torn away in strips. sightings of her procession have dwindled in recent years, likely due to modern technological advancements allowing for more effective deterrence and warning systems, as well as the improvements in long-range weaponry, but she still features prominently in urban legends and cautionary tales about staying out late alone.
