Sword and Dagger
This fic is for @mmelete and anyone else who wants to see some reconciliation and comfort between Legend and Warriors. They are two of my favourite LU boys and I wish they got along more in people's fics.
------------------------~~~------------------------
"LEGEND!" Warriors voice rang out across the camp.
A smile curled the corner of the Vet's mouth as he continued adding wood to the fire. He managed to surpress his laughter. This was going to be hilarious.
The stomping of boots grew louder as Wars stormed across the clearing towards where Legend was kneeling by the fire. Something solid collided with Legend's shoulder, hard and fast. He dropped the last branch he had been holding and clutched at his arm. Looking down he saw the offending projectile. A squat brown glass jar filled with clear gel.
"Ouch!" Legend grunted, rubbing furiously at his new bruise. "What the fuck?!"
"What the fuck?" Wars echoed, turning the question back on Legend.
Around the clearing the rest of the boys couldn't help but stop what they were doing and turn their attention to this latest argument. Time let out a sigh and rubbed at his brow before turning back to his journal. Wild continued chopping vegetables for dinner. He hated it when the others were fighting, it made his anxiety spike and he would rather be literally anywhere else in the world when his brothers were at each others throats.
Four, Hyrule and Sky pretended to carry on with their own activities. Still keeping an eye on the argument about to break out by the fire. Wind was mercifully down by the stream, and hopefully out of earshot of the screaming match that had already begun. While Twilight was out on patrol.
"You arse! You put glue in my hair gel!" Wars bellowed, pointing accusingly down at Legend. His other fist balled and shaking at his side.
Time couldn't help but flick his eye up from his journal to Warriors. He also couldn't help the minute smile which crept upon his lips. Wars' hair, which was usually kept almost immaculate, was a mess. The left side was stuck down so flat it almost followed the shape of his skull. While the right side was stuck up in the air at odd angles. He looked like he'd been caught in a sudden gust of wind. Except there was no breeze. Only a livid scowl and the pointing finger which refused to leave its mark.
"You mean your hair CAN look even more stupid than normal?" Legend replied nonchalantly. His eyes remaining on the fire.
"You little shit! Now my comb is clogged up with glue and hair and I'm gonna have to get a new one, thank you very much! Not to mention what a pain in the arse this is going to be to clean out. What the hell man? What did I do to you?!"
Warriors continued to berate, oblivious to anyone except the object of his fury.
It wasn't really about his hair. Well, it was almost certainly about his hair. But Wars wasn't as vain as people liked to assume he was. Just because he was considered more handsome than most, didn't mean he was constantly preening himself. Sure he liked to look neat and presentable, but that was mostly from a life spent in the army. A soldier could be seriously disciplined for failing to dress correctly or for having scruffy hair. Every soldier was a representative of Hyrule itself. So heaven forbid that Wars always took care in making sure he was the best goddess damned image of Hyrule he could muster.
His real bug-bare was why Legend seemed to have singled him out for his pranks and jibes. Legend teased Wars for his good looks constantly. Not that Wars thought any of the others was less good looking than himself. Perhaps the Vet hadn't seen himself in a mirror for a while. If it wasn't his looks or his scarf, it was his military service, or his rank, or his loyalty to the crown. Legend could turn any trait of Warriors' into a snide remark aimed just right to get under the Captain's skin. Wars sometimes wondered if it was actually some special talent of Legend's. Like a little dagger specifically designed to be able to pick someone apart all the while laughing at them.
"Oh no, you'll have to spend some of that soldiers wage you keep bragging about!" Legend scoffed, batting the pot of gel and glue away from himself.
"What?" Wars shook his head in surprise. This was not the reaction he thought he was going to get. "Since when have I bragged about my wages?"
Wars finally looked around the camp at the rest of the heroes. Sky unfortunately managed to catch his eye and Wars latched onto his gaze.
"Sky, I don't brag about money, do I?" He asked furvently, still radiating rage and confusion.
"Um, well," Sky stammered, shrinking under Wars' intense gaze. "Not as such. But you're kind of the only one of us with an actual job."
Wars processed that for a second. He'd never considered soldiering to be a job, but it did come with a regular pay packet. So far as he could tell the only one of them who got payed for work was the Smithy. Four was an accomplished blacksmith with his own business. He had to make a decent amount of money for the work he produced. So that couldn't be the only reason Legend had singled Wars out. This couldn't be about money.
"Four has a job!" Wars pointed out.
"Hey, leave me out of this," Four stated firmly. "This is between you and Lege, figure it out without pointing fingers at the rest of us."
Four kept his eyes on the sword he was polishing, but Sky noticed they took on a verdent green hew as he spoke. He wanted to ask about it, but knew now was definitely not the time to be starting other conversations.
"Yeah Captain, why don't you pick on someone your own size!" Legend barked, drawing Warriors attention again.
"Pick on..? You're not that short!" Wars spat back.
"Oh so I am short, but not that short!" Legend retorted.
"Come on boys, please knock it off," Time groaned.
He tipped his head back against the tree behind him and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Your screaming match is giving me a headache. Plus I can't imagine anything living within a mile radius of this camp is thanking you either." Time said with a sigh.
"But he..." Wars began, but Time put up a hand to stop him talking.
"Legend, apologise for your prank," Time insisted, fixing Legend with his one eyed stare.
Legend flicked his gaze away to the ground, avoiding the Old Man's piercing eye.
"M'sorry," he grumbled under his breath.
"Right," Time nodded.
"Really, that's an acceptable apology to you?!" Wars scoffed.
"Wars, I'll buy you a new comb and gel in the next town we find. And in the morning I'll help you wash the glue out of your hair. Alright?"
Time turned his gaze onto Wars, who knew from the look on his face that it was going to be alright whether he liked it or not.
"Fine!" Wars turned on the spot and walked decisively towards his bed roll.
He picked it up and dragged it a few metres further away from the fire and set it down with a resounding thump. Wars quickly shucked his armour and his mail and tunic, before shoving himself under his blankets and all but throwing his head onto his pillow.
The rest of the Chain didn't hear a single peep out of their Captain for the rest of the night. Sulking or sleeping, no one had the courage to go and find out. At one point Hyrule asked Legend if he felt bad about how far his prank had gone.
"He deserves being taken down a peg every now and then." Was his response.
But even as he said the words, Legend felt no real emotion behind them. No truth. He'd taken a strange disliking to the Captain not long after they'd all met. He was rigid and calculating. Absurd in the attention he gave to his looks and infuriating in the way that he never deviated from a plan. Legend felt no spark of curiosity or adventure when he took a peek at Wars' aura. His magic felt strong like the rest of the Links, but it also felt tame and rigid. As though it had been pushed into a box which was too small.
Of all the Links in his company, Wars was the one he just couldn't figure out. And the one who reminded him the most of some of the worst days of his life. So he lashed out. Made jokes at his expense, played pranks he knew would get a rise out of the Captain, because it was a laugh. And what else was he supposed to do with someone who was as stiff as a board?
***
Time didn't get a chance to clean Warriors hair. Hyrule woke everyone up in the middle of his watch to the news that a portal had appeared not far from their camp. He'd felt the unique magical signature the moment it appeared and quickly ran to see what had happened. The dark swirl of black and purple bridged the space between two trees. A void deadening all light and sound around it.
Hyrule had hurried back to camp and quickly roused everyone. Unusually, Wars was the last man to finish packing his gear. And he was at the back of the line as they broke camp and followed Hyrule towards the new portal. While no one could see him, Wars attempted to flatten down the worst parts of his hair, but with little to no success. The glue had done a fine job and he'd worked it through so thoroughly with his comb, that it perfectly coated his hair. Forcing it into its current state. He let out a defeated sigh and trudged through the forest without taking much notice of his surroundings.
The shady woodland was soon replaced by the now familiar unsettling feeling of being pulled through a dark place. Wars had the uncontrollable sensation of nausia and dizziness which was concurrent with a portal jump. He was one of the few who suffered the least from time jumps, but he counted himself lucky. Wind and Four often verged on passing out after walking through a portal. While Hyrule could be left feeling dizzy and disoriented for up to an hour. Not helpful if there was danger waiting on the other side.
As the blackness faded away and the sickening sensations passed, Wars felt the bitter chill of icy weather biting at his skin. He looked up and had to blink twice before he believed what he was seeing.
Everything was white.
Everything except the red, blue and streak of pink hair in the near distance, which could only be Legend.
Wars grumbled, wrapping his arms around himself as he shoved his chin into his scarf. This was not going to be a pleasant day.
"Cap?" Legend howled over the rushing of the wind pelting his ears.
His hair flew every which way and he held onto his cap to prevent it being tugged off his head. His tunic whipped around his bare knees and he winced against the sting of the snow as it hit his exposed legs. Surely the Captain would tease him for not wearing trousers at some point.
The Captain! Legend suddenly thought with a jolt. Where in Din's name was everyone else?
"Captain!" He called again.
Wars wasn't very far away, but still Legend's voice sounded like a whisper rather than a holler. Squinting against the driving snow and leaning into the wind Wars trudged towards the colourful blob in front of him.
"I can hear you Legend. Where's everyone else?" He called in reply.
"No clue. They were right with us when we went through the portal."
Wars heard something about Legend not having a clue. (Nothing new there) And the portal.
"Great," Wars sighed.
This wasn't the first time the Chain had been separated by portal jumps before. Usually they were only split up by a short distance. They never settled on a plausible theory as to why this happened, though Wars had some pretty convincing ideas of his own. However, upon a quick scan of the surrounding empty countryside, Wars couldn't discern any other notable figures in the landscape. Legend and he supposed he himself, were the only dots of colour in an otherwise colourless world.
The snow storm showed no signs of blowing over and even tall trees had been mostly hidden by the onslaught of snow and ice. When Wars reached Legend, his next move would be to look for shelter. Hopefully the sour veteran would be cooperative enough to help rather than hinder Warriors efforts to keep them both alive.
"Looks like we got split up again. And we don't have Wild or the Sailor with us to contact anyone. We need to find shelter or we'll both catch our deaths in this cold." Wars said through chattering teeth.
Legend shuddered at the thought of just trying to walk through the thick snow around them. He could already feel the chill in his core as he pulled his hat down over his ears, and shoved his hands under his armpits to keep his fingers from freezing.
"Any suggestions?" He uttered, struggling to breath with lungs full of ice.
"Let's walk downhill," Wars decided, trying to think logically while his brain was telling him to just stop and get warm. "The cold will be less intense if we reach a lower altitude, and there's more likely to be shelter the lower we go. If we stay up here on the hill tops we'll freeze to death."
"Downhill it is then," Legend nodded.
Wars raised an eyebrow at how easily Legend had followed his suggestion. But he didn't dare question it unless Legend suddenly decided to have an argument about it.
"You want me to go ahead or behind?" He asked.
"You can cut through the deep snow easier than I can, you go first."
"Right."
"Plus, if you fall in a hole I'll know not to step there!" Legend snorted.
"Right," Wars said flatly.
So they began their slow slog down the hill. The wind was mercifully behind them, but still bitterly cold. Wars took a leaf out of Legend's book and pulled his old hat out of his bag. He tugged it tight down over his ears and tucked the end into his scarf so it wouldn't flap about. Wars could feel his steel mail freezing but there wasn't anything he could do about that now. His undershirt would keep it from touching his skin, but it wouldn't do anything to keep him warm. He just preyed they would find some kind of shelter and soon.
They walked for what felt like hours before the ground began to level out. The trees became a more frequent sight and though the storm was still raging, even a meagre tree cover was better than nothing.
"We could stop and make a fire here?" Wars suggested, looking about at the tall pines around them.
"Our stuff will just get wet if we stop here. We should keep looking for shelter. A cave or a cabin or something," Legend replied with a shake of his head. Though it could have just been from the cold.
"How d'you know there'll be one?"
"I don't, but... I'd rather keep looking than stop here and freeze. At least if we're moving we're keeping some sort of body heat." Legend explained.
"Me maybe, aren't you freezing?" Wars scoffed, eyeing Legend's bare legs which looked raw and red.
"Yeah I am, thanks for reminding me!"
"Sorry, I was just thinking you might want to stop?" Wars remarked.
"Because I'm small and fragile?" Legend snorted.
"What? NO?" Wars balked. "Because you're wearing less clothes and you're more likely to die more quickly of exposure than I am."
"It's not a competition Captain!" Legend hissed over his shoulder as he continued to walk in front of Wars. "Besides, I'm far more adaptive than you anyway. Who's to say who would win that competition?!"
"It's not a competition to see who dies first either Lege!" Wars sighed, hurrying to stay with the turbulent Vet.
Their argument died as they continued to walk through the snow covered forest. Icicles hung ominously from tree branches over head. Wind whipped through the trees, shaking loose drifts of snow. The only sounds were the howling of the wind, and their laboured breathing as the two boys marched through the snow drifts.
"Hut!" Legend exclaimed.
Wars head shot up at the sound and looked ahead. A squat wooden structure sat among the trees just a few yards away from them. Legend immediately took off towards it, with Wars only a few steps behind him. The veteran hero threw his shoulder into the door as he turned the handle, but there was less resistance than he had anticipated and the door swung open freely.
It was an extremely modest dwelling and it clearly hadn't been used for some time. There was a single cot in one corner. A fireplace set into the back wall and boarded up windows on the opposing sides.
"I'll be damned, maybe the gods do love us after all," Legend sighed, as he spotted a stack of logs in the corner by the fire.
Warriors quickly shut the door behind them and hefted his pack onto the floor beside the bed. His first instinct was to leave some kind of sign for the others telling them where they were. If this storm didn't break soon, the two of them might find themselves stuck for a while. If the others came looking, Warriors wanted them to find him and Legend as soon as possible.
He pulled out a pouch of berries Wild had picked for him and stared at it, turning the object over in his mind. The colour would stand out against the stark surroundings, but he doubted the juice would stick to the door of the hut on its own. Another thought wormed it's way into his mind and he groaned at how good his idea was.
Wars searched for his old pot of hair gel and found it in his pocket of useless objects he kept meaning to throw away. He opened the lid and was relieved to find it hadn't completely hardened. Wars crushed a few of the berries into the jar and mashed the mixture together with his fingers. When the gel-glue had turned a vivid pink colour, he quickly left the hut.
"Hey! Where are you...?"
Wars heard Legend say as he pulled the door open and quickly used his fingers to write on the outside of the wooden door. It was rough and untidy. But his makeshift paint did the job. The bright pink of the berries having the desired affect. Wars spelled out the quickest and easiest thing he could think of before letting too much cold back into the hut. After he was finished he quickly washed his hands off with some snow, closed the door and threw the jar of paint back into his pack.
"What was that about?" Legend asked incredulously.
Wars sighed contently as he saw the fire blooming into life behind Legend. But he swallowed before answering his question.
"I was leaving a sign for the others in case they come looking for us. Hopefully someone will be able to see it even if they don't notice the hut right away."
"Huh, that's actually pretty smart," Legend nodded, turning to throw some more kindling onto his tender flames.
"Did you just call me smart?" Wars jibed.
"I called you pretty smart, you know, the same way seagulls are pretty smart," Legend scoffed, avoiding Warriors gaze.
"Right."
Wars shook his head and turned back to his pack. He pulled out his bed roll and set it on the floor beside the fire. Legend waisted no time settling himself onto it and rubbing at his legs to stimulate some warmth. Wars pulled out his blanket and pillow and some spare shirts to replace the one he was wearing. It would be wet with both sweat and snowmelt and would quickly make him cold if he didn't change it soon. Speaking of.
"Hey, um, Legend," Wars said tentatively. Hating himself for the next words about to come out of his mouth. "Can you help me for a minute?"
"Help you with what?" Legend groaned.
"I can't take my armour or my mail off, they're too cold to touch. Can you put some gloves on and help me?" He asked, trying to convey as much sincerity in his voice and expression as he could muster.
Legend let out the longest sigh Wars had ever heard. But still, the Vet pushed himself to his feet and crossed the cabin to where Wars stood.
"Well?" He asked impatiently.
Wars quickly found an old pair of gloves in his pack (not fingerless ones) and handed them to Legend. Although Wars had to point Legend in the right direction a couple of times, Legend quickly helped Wars take off his pauldron and laid it on the floor near the fire for it to warm up. His tunic came off with ease but his mail was more difficult. Legend managed to buch it up around Warriors shoulders, then got him to bed over and slid the whole shirt off onto the floor over his head.
"Well that's just insanely stupid!" Legend scoffed, as he picked up the heavy lump of clinking metal.
"It's saved my life more times than I can count," Wars retorted, trying to shake out his hair before rembering he couldn't.
Legend layed the mail shirt out on the other side of the fire and Wars wondered at the care which the Vet showed to something he clearly disapproved of.
"Why don't you just try not to get hit. Then you wouldn't have to wear something so heavy?" He proffered.
"Is that why you stopped wearing trousers?" Wars remarked in return.
"Touche."
Wars quickly undressed and pulled two clean shirts over his shivering body. He wanted to put his tunic back on as another layer, but that was pretty wet as well. The garment and his scarf, joined his armour by the fire and he settled for pulling a blanket around his shoulders instead.
Legend scooted along the bed roll slightly to let Wars sit down in front of the fire. The warmth hit him in a similar way to the snow. His face and hands tingled as his skin came back to life.
"Ahhh," Wars couldn't help the sigh which escaped him. "Nice work getting the fire going."
Legend looked at him sideways but decided not to turn the simple statement into an argument.
"Thanks, and you're welcome by the way, for helping you out."
"Thanks for that, I'm usually alright doing it by myself. But, I've known people who touched frozen mail before and ended up with the pattern burned into their skin by the cold." Wars explained, his expression turning pensive as his memories trickled into his mind.
"Huh, yeah that would suck." Legend nodded.
Legend finally decided to take off his hat and tunic and let them dry out alongside Warriors clothes. He found his own blanket and draped it over his knees. After that the pair fell into an uncomfortable silence as their bodies began to warm. They could hear the storm raging on outside their little bubble of calm, but the hut was fairly draft free. Plus there were enough logs to keep them going for at least a few days if necessary.
Wars didn't want to sit in silence. He'd hated the periods of his life when he hadn't been able to talk. Since being with the rest of the Chain he felt like he could speak his mind or his emotions freely, and without reprisal. For the first time in a long time he had almost felt understood, among other people like himself. But then there was Legend. The impenetrable wall of stoicism and spite. It wasn't that they just didn't get on, they were totally different people. And it was infuriatingly difficult for the two of them to see eye to eye. Two heroes of Hyrule, both forged though danger and courage to defend their kingdoms. A sword and a dagger, both deadly weapons, weilded in very different ways.
To Wars' great surprise Legend was the first to break their silence.
"I am sorry about your hair," Legend uttered. If not for their complete quiet, Wars didn't think he would have even noticed the teen had spoken.
"Then why'd you do it?" Wars asked, pulling the blanket tighter around himself.
"I dunno, thought it would be funny I guess. And it was kinda funny. But after that you were just cross and I knew everyone else would be cross at me for doing it. So, I dunno." Legend shrugged, turning his face away so Wars couldn't see his own confusion.
"Have I done something to make you mad at me for some reason? If I have it definitely wasn't intentional Legend," Wars questioned, searching Legend's posture for some kind of response.
"No, that's not..." Legend tried to push some words out his mouth. But his brain and his lips weren't complying with one another.
Why was he even trying to explain himself to the Captain of all people? He wouldn't understand even if Legend could organise his thoughts. He just knew he wouldn't. So why try at all?
"Forget I even said anything alright. You clearly don't know how to accept an apology."
Just like that Wars watched Legend's walls close in and his mask slip back into place. He radiated the energy of a feral animal, terrified something would come near him. Wars hovered beside him, torn between trying to comfort his friend, and dropping the issue altogether. The hero inside him couldn't bare to do the latter, so he grit his teeth and pushed on.
"Lege, do you hate me?" He asked softly, ready to take the answer he was anticipating.
That made Legend lift his head and face Warriors. A frown creased his brow.
"No, of course I don't hate you?" He said. "Why would you think I hate you?"
"I don't know, the relentless teasing. Hiding my stuff, the glue. You're constantly on my case. It's like you're trying to rile me up so much that I don't want to be with the group any more." Wars rambled on until he had said more than he meant to.
"You don't want to be with the group anymore?" Legend's frown deepend.
"No, I mean yes." Wars sighed, this was coming out all wrong. "Of course I want to be with the group. You boys mean the world to me. But I just get the feeling I don't mean anything to you. Or if I do it's not a good feeling. And that hurts Legend. Everything you do, I know it's little things and if they weren't so often I could brush them aside and maybe even laugh at them. But what you're doing to me, it really hurts. And I don't know why else you'd hurt me if you didn't hate me."
Wars closed his eyes and curled in on himself, his fingers dug into the blanket, knuckles turning while. He only realised he was crying when he felt a drop slip down onto his lip.
Legend sat stock still. He was so stunned he had to give himself a mental slap across the face and grab hold of the situation in front of him. The Captain, Warriors, their chief planner and strategist, his brother, thought he hated him.
"I don't, hate you," he said slowly.
Goddesses he was terrible with emotions. Turns out he was terrible at reading certain people too. Legend thought Warriors was all stoicism and army and, 'look at me aren't I so smart and better than every one!' How could he have got it so wrong.
He knew how.
Months of being hunted by royal soldiers haunted his nightmares. Days and nights spent on the run, accused of a crime he hadn't committed. A crime he was trying to stop for Din's sake! Shining steel and the sound of clinking mail made his skin crawl. Just helping Warriors take his off had sent him to the edge of reliving those memories. But he'd done it because his brother needed his help. Now he was hearing Wars doubted him so completely.
Legend was a difficult person to love. He knew that. He was all hard edges and scepticism. How Ravio not only put up with him, but genuinely loved him, he'd never know. The crazy merchant had latched onto him and never let him go. Ravio had opened his heart to the possibility that he could actually love and be loved in return.
"I didn't take to being the hero as easily as everyone thought I did," Wars said softly.
Legend raised an eyebrow, not at the words, but at the fact that Wars had spoken first. He was almost ready with a speach and everything. But Wars sounded like he was about to get something off his chest, and Legend was happy to hear him out.
"The war had just started. Cia's monsters were ravaging the lands. The Hero was on everyone's lips. And then the Hero was me. I was the one she was after. The spirit of the Hero lived inside me and she wanted it for herself. The lengths she went through to try and claim me, I shudder now to even remember it. I knew how to be a soldier. A Hero was something different. It's alright for a soldier to fail. That just means the enemy was stronger and better prepared than you. You can learn something from failing and do better in the next fight.
But as a Hero, you're not allowed to fail. You win or you lose and if you lose you'd better prepare for people to turn against you. When you're an image people cling to in times of dispare, you do everything you can to help and to live up to their expectations. I tried so hard to be everything people needed me to be. I hardly ever let myself think about what I wanted. Because it didn't matter. I had a job to do and that was all that mattered."
Wars paused and sighed, his chin resting heavy on his arms as they crossed over his knees. Though his voice sounded steady, tears slowly streaked down his face.
"I guess I still have it in my head that everyone needs me to be perfect. If I'm not, then I'm letting someone down. It doesn't matter how good a swordsman I am, or how many enemies I defeat. If I put a foot wrong, if I fail somehow, I fail Hyrule."
"I have a thing about soldiers," Legend sighed. If they were sharing he probably aught to do his bit. "On one of my adventures a guy called Agahnim accused me of kidnapping Zelda. He had some kind of hold over the soldiers and he made them come after me constantly. They put up wanted posters and ordinary Hylians saw me as the enemy who kidnapped their princess. I was on the run for months. Soldiers tried to grab me everywhere I went. I don't know if they had orders to kill me but they certainly weren't gentle in their efforts.
When you first showed up on this journey, for a brief moment I thought you were the enemy. The thing Hylia had sent us to fight. A knight gone rogue. I don't think I ever really got over that feeling. The idea that, at some point you were going to turn on me. So I kept you at a distance, kept pushing you away."
There was a brief moment of silence before Wars chuckled. He snorted a laugh as Legend shot him an incredulous glare.
"Sorry, I'm not laughing at you. That sounds like a nightmare. But it's kind of ironic," Wars tilted his head as the thoughts swirled.
"Ironic?" Legend parroted, utterly bemused.
"I had my fair share of betrayals during the war." Wars replied, his tone souring. "During one battle, half my troops turned against me. They called me a traitor, claimed the war was my fault. I had to-to fight men and women I had fought alongside for years. They gave me no choice. I still hear their screams.
So it's ironic you thought I was going to turn out to be a traitor. When I've spent most of this journey trying to convince myself that all of you won't turn against me at some point. None of you ever gave me reason to think you would, but the memories still haunt me. So when you push and you tease and you torment me, it feels like..."
"Like your fears are founded in something?" Legend filled in, the bottom falling out of his heart as he spoke.
"Yeah, and when the others laugh and join in with the joke. Sometimes it's hard to make myself believe they don't mean it." Wars paused and turned his body so he was facing Legend more directly. "I'm sorry I make you feel nervous Lege. If I'd known I would have done something. Changed my clothes, I would have lost the scarf, the armour. If it stopped you thinking I would turn on you, I'd have done anything."
"You're sorry?!" Legend barked a laugh. He could feel warmth behind his eyes. But he hoped he would be able to keep speaking before he started crying. "Cap, Wars, I never thought about how what I was doing would make you feel. I - I suppose I did a bit and watching someone like you, a soldier, make a fool of themselves made me feel good I guess. I suppose that makes me a terrible bully." Keep going, deep breath, almost there. "And I know I can't take any of it back. Farore knows I wish I could. But since I can't I want to say how sorry I am. I'm sorry I singled you out. I'm sorry I made you feel betrayed, and I'm sorry I made you think I didn't love you."
"You love me?" Wars frowned as he sniffed.
"Of course I do you big dumb idiot!" Legend smiled, as tears began to overflow down his cheeks. Damn it.
"Haha, that's really sweet of you!" Wars laughed, but the sarcasm was clearly received.
"Sorry, I'm not good at emotions," Legend shrugged. "But I do mean it. I love you, and all the boys, and I will try my very best not to let you feel hurt by my awkward nature again."
"You really do mean it, don't you?" Wars said slowly, searching Legend's eyes for any sign this was another joke of his. He just hadn't reached the punch line yet.
But there was nothing but warmth and sincerity to be found. Wars hard hardly ever seen the Vet cry. But that wasn't important, he was crying too after all. Legend had opened up to him. Explained himself at last. All the pieces slotted into place and at last Wars could see Legend for who he really was. A frightened kid lashing out in order to protect himself. A kid who had seen more horrors and been through more hardships than any of their brothers. Perhaps more than all of them combined. And yet he had enough love left inside him for all of them. Even for Warriors himself.
"I love you too Legend."
Wars dropped his knees and spread his arms wide. Legend sniffed back a sob and crawled his way into Warriors embrace. Wars wrapped Legend up in his blanket, Legend's sightly damp hair tickling his neck. But he ignored it. They were both hurting and it meant the world to both of them to be able to comfort each other. Legend clamped his arms around Wars' waist, his face buried in Wars' shoulder. The warmth of the blanket and Warriors body heat spread through his frigid limbs and kindled a fire in his heart.
"Let's never fight again," Legend mumbled after a while. He felt more than heard Wars laugh against him.
"Yeah, like that's ever going to happen!"
"Alright, let's never fight over anything stupid again," Legend corrected, wiggling out of Warriors death grip slightly.
"Right, nothing stupid," Wars nodded.
The motion drew Legend's attention to Warriors hair. He really tried not to smile. He really really tried, but it was just so stupid how it was all stuck up on one side, even after being stuffed into Warriors hat.
"Would you like me to try and fix your hair?" Legend offered, already afraid Wars was going to shut him down.
"How? It's going to take days of washing to get this out?" Wars sighed, deflating a little.
"If I brush it carefully, I can stop it sticking up like that. Then we can wash it properly when we're out of, wherever we are!" Legend insisted more fervently. "Ravio did something similar to me once after I accidentally burned his favourite scarf. He helped me get the worst out of it."
"But I ruined my comb," Wars groaned, remembering the matted clump which had been thrown on the camp fire.
"We can use mine," Legend offered. "We already need to buy a new one for you, what's one more?"
Legend and Wars spent the rest of the evening huddled together by the fire. Though the storm outside showed no signs of letting up, and they hoped the rest of the Chain had found their own shelter somewhere, their little cabin remained cosy. Legend was true to his word and dutifully brushed the worst of the glue out of Wars' hair.
After he was finished, Warriors hair felt softer and was no longer stuck to the side of his head or sticking up in spikes. As Warriors ran a hand through his hair, he could still feel clumps of glue against his fingers. But at least it was workable. The simple act of kindness and repentance Legend had shown filled his heart. Maybe things would be different between them from now on.
"What did you write by the way?" Legend asked, as he sat back down by the fire.
"Write?" Wars frowned.
"On the door of the cabin," Legend reminded him. "You left a sign for the others to find. What did you write? Some kind of code?"
"Ah, no. Not exactly," Wars uttered, cheeks flushing a little pink.
"A symbol?"
"No," Wars sighed, a symbol would have been a good idea. The triforce would have been easily recognised.
"Then what?" Legend prompted, giving Wars a nudge with his elbow.
"I was in a hurry so I wrote the first thing that came into my head," Wars admitted.
"Right, and that was?" Legend urged.
"I um, I wrote Link."
"Link."
"Yep."
... "It's a good thing you're pretty."
---
Once again this became so much longer and went so much deeper than I intended it to go. I should probably go to therapy instead of venting all my stuff into these characters. But therapy is expensive and posting fanfics on Tumbler is free! So you guys get to enjoy my therapy with me, yay!
(Cries internally)
If you want to read more Legend and Warriors then my fic Hobby Boys is much shorter and has way less angst!

This was supposed to be a drabble. Bet you weren't expecting this, though.
I literally have no idea how toddlers act or what milestones they are at. Can they??? Speak properly??? I dont know. I dont spend enough time around my nephews to know.
Carrying around a toddler was not on Keisuke's bucket list today. Especially not a toddler he didn't know.
But he saved said toddler from a bunch of raging robots, because kids are somehow stupid enough to go wobbling towards the black and white bears. So now the kid was his responsibilty. At least until he could find her parents.
He had decided to call her "Bug," because she had a funny-looking, bug-eyed stare. She didn't cry at the name when he first called her it, so all seemed to be well. The most issue that happened was when she began to whine about being hungry.
Thank god there was still a bit of food left in the kitchen he found.
"So, Bug," Keisuke said as he paraded the toddler around on his shoulder, "how come you can say 'food', but not your own name?"
In response, Bug kicked her legs and blew raspberries. As if the crumbs she got in his hair hadn't been enough.
"Oh, you're just a little rodent, aren't you?" He reached up and grabbed her, just so he could stare at her. In turn, she squealed and giggled.
Nearby, he could hear a hoard of the bears. It sounded like they were getting closer-- had they heard him? For fuck's sake.
He sprinted. Down the hall, past most other doors, and straight into the library. He didn't know why he had decided to go in there, but he was smart to do so. There was no clanking beast inside, meaning it was safe to camp out in.
Once the door was closed, preventing the beasts from seeing them, Bug tugged at his hair. It was lightly, of course, but it said enough; she wanted to be put down.
When the toddler's feet touched the ground, she immediately began to wander off and towards the bookshelf. Keisuke figured she was just interested in the colors, as toddlers and babies tend to be.
In the meanwhile, he examined the walls. Nothing too extraoridinary, just some torn wallpaper... except for the furthest wall. Part had been broken enough to make an entrance to a secret room. Maybe there was something in it at some point, but not anymore. Nothing aside from a table and a chair.
Bug came running up to him, holding up a yearbook and a crumpled picture. The picture was of bug and four other people he did not recognize-- a black-haired woman, a graying brunette man, a bandana-wearing brunette, and a young woman wearing pigtails.
In the yearbook, which was new-looking compared to the rest of the dust-ridden place, was a picture of the same young woman wrapping a bandage over a muscular man's shoulder. When he looked just a bit over, he could see a picture of Satsuki with her boyfriend, Kobashikawa. He was swinging her around and she was smiling. In fact, they both were.
He could only pray that he'd be able to see her smile again. Maybe Kobashikawa's smile, too.
"Ah..." his throat had become dry. So he turned his focus back onto the pigtail-wearing young woman. "Is she your... sister?"
Kata? Didn't sound all that familiar... but maybe Satsuki knew her.
The brunette toddler paused before shaking her head wildly. "Ka-ta!"
"Do you mind if i look a bit more at this?" Keisuke asked as he gave the book a little tug. Bug let go and moved to sit on the floor.
Just so she could see more of the book, too, he sat next to her and began flipping through the pages. Sure enough, he found more of class 79-- this time, it was the page listing all the students.
They were pretty close together, considering the alphabetical order.
Inori Kanata
Iranami Satsuki
"Ah. So that's Inori..." he murmured to himself. He'd never met the surgeon, but Satsuki had talked about her. Just as she had talked about all their other classmates.
Bug stared at the page and then looked up. She was pointing at Satsuki now. "You." She blabbed, staring at him with an accusatory expression.
"No..." he murmured as he stared back at his sister and the life-brightening beam she smiled. "No, thats my little sister, Satsuki."
The toddler stared at him for a bit longer before her gaze focused on the crumpled picture. She pointed at the black-haired woman first, her finger jammed directly on the woman'a chin. "Mama!" She chirped. Then her finger moved to the graying brunette. "Papa!"
Keisuke kept a soft smile as she pointed out "Ha-to," who he supposed was her brother. He looked to be around his age... maybe they'd be able to talk at some point. It was rare for Keisuke to be able to talk to anyone his age, especially now, so it could be nice.
"Well," the clown sighed as Bug picked up the picture and stuffed it back into the pockets of her pajamas, "guess we should get moving again. Gotta find our sisters, right?"
Bug stared at him with bright green eyes. Then, she rose to her feet and began to wobble back towards the door. Just so he'd know she was okay, Keisuke went after her and convinced her to hold onto his finger.
---
Satsuki was dead. Satsuki was dead, and a classmate she had complained about now stood in her place. It was unfair. Why did Mekaru get to live when she had been so cruel to his sister? What kind of cruel world was this.
The former professor looked different than she did in the yearbook. Her glasses had changed, as had her haircut. Her outfit was different, too, but that was to be expected.
For a moment, she had been talking to the rest of the relatives. She gave them her apologies and passed on her condolences. At one point, her voice had cracked with grief
She didn't sound as aggressive as Satsuki had once described her to be.
"Now," Mekaru turned back to him, but her golden eyes were focused on Bug-- whom return the look with her bug-eyed stare. "Who are you?"
The toddler squinted and looked away. When the ginger glanced up at Keisuke in search for an answer, he simply shrugged. "I've just been calling her Bug... She's Inori's little sister, though. At least, I think she is."
Maybe he should go into a career of acting, because he was good enough to hide the bitterness he felt towards the professor. Towards the fact that she survived, when much more deserving people didn't.
Her expression softened after he finished speaking. "Ah," she said dryly. "I see. You must be Benitsuru Ando-- when i checked the records, that's who was listed as her sister."
When the name was said, Bug perked up and nodded her head wildly. Yes, yes! Benitsuru, that was her!
Keisuke grinned weakly and ruffled the toddler's brown hair. "Well then," he said, a new hint of playfulness to his tone, "why didn't you tell me that?"

Very mild spoilers up to early/mid act 2 and Gale romance.
I didn't really want to believe it, but the ninjamance IS really strong in this game. There are definitely bugs to work out behind the scenes.
Despite a dance with Wyll, that ended in a head-turn and no kiss, I have single-mindedly perused Gale this entire time. I have gotten propositioned by literally everyone at camp, save maybe Astarion, including Halsin, though I have definitely done my best to avoid romantic dialog choices with any of them. And everyone else backed off after a polite turn down.
I am loving the Gale romance, btw. Just spot-on perfect romance for my bard. I know this character so well from years of playing her in D&D and she's never had a romance in any D&D game I tried to bring her into, which was always fine, she's got a lot going on. But Gale feels tailor made for her in almost every way, and except for that one dance with Wyll, I never doubted that for this character, this was the right romance.
Not only did I feel confident I was well into relationship status with Gale and nobody else based on my dialog choices, but also some things that happened in-game. The most recent being someone trying to probe my mind and I shoved them off with thoughts of Gale. No one else was dialog choice to think about at that time.
I was starting to feel like people were overreacting about the ninjamance. Like, Gale's "Hey come feel the magic with me!" scene early on gave you several clear outs including the narrator LITERALLY telling you "this is an intimate moment" and the dialog choices clearly giving you polite backout choices in that moment. I thought people complaining about a Gale Ninjamance probably kept going at that point, which I believe IS a romance lock unless you choose one of the ruder choices to push him away?
But hey me? I've got one focus (Gale) and everyone else I'm just friends with! Won't happen to me!
So after a lovely evening with Gale that I was very happy with (after trying both directions I went with the "tamer" choice, because it just felt more real, but the other one was amazing too) the next morning we had a lovely chat, affirmed our relationship and also saw he'd moved on for sure past the ex, it was great. I was hoping to go get cute dialog with my other companions, happy that Gale and I had cemented things at last.
The first person I went to talk to was my buddy Karlach, sure that she'd be thrilled for me since from very early on I made it clear we were just friends and we'd had like two conversations since then where we affirmed our friendship and how glad we are to be good friends! And then....
Tumblr media
Wait... wait wait wait... what the fuck?!? What do you mean I'm sorry but I want to be with Gale? Karlach and I most definitely were not in a relationship? I gave her a friendly hug when we got her heat problem fixed. I'm looking out for her, and again, a couple of clear "I'm so glad we're good friends!" dialogs have happened recently. Why the fuck would she think we were in a romance!?!
I went through the dialog choices, trying to see if there was a mistake or a joke, but nope, it's clear it's the entire breakup scene as if she and I had been lovers for months. Karlach no, I never meant to hurt you this way because we were never in a relationship.
I hate this so much! I adore Karlach! I never would hurt her this way and took great pains to make sure I never would! What the hell, Larian?
I backed out, reloaded my last save, and went around to the rest of the camp and luckily I didn't have to "break up" with anyone else. And for now I'm just avoiding the conversation and hoping it will go away.
I just really hate that most of the time when I've seen people complaining about it, juuuuust like in Mass Effect, they blame the character for being "clingy" instead of the game for having obvious bugs, clunky mechanics, or unclear dialog choices that make "I'm being nice to my friend here!" into "We'll bang, okay?" This has nothing to do with Karlach, or ANY other character that has happened to others with, and everything to do with the game itself.
Hopefully the next patch or two will make this stop happening so we can all be friends with the people we want to be friends with and not feel like we've gotta hurt the characters we like. Ugh.

apologies @/gaelicspectre bc I know I'm never gonna have the motivation to make a whole fic out of the idea but I WILL go on a long ass hc ramble
see my original thought was literally just "what would each of their lives have been like if the other was never born" but now I'm thinking just AU where I pull a Frontier and they were separated when they super little and each don't know the other exists
Their mom took off to the middle-of-nowhere shrine town before Miu was even born and Kaito got left behind with their dad
This is totally not just me realizing I didn't want to think about the implications of how the stalker situation would have gone in a universe where Kaito doesn't exist
I think they'd both be really rebellious, doing a bunch of crap to try to get their parents to notice them. Since their parents are both single and trying to raise kids by themselves, they're pretty much never home, and when they are home, they're too exhausted to parent. Because of this, both siblings are really lonely and desperate for attention.
Having been raised in the small town all her life, Miu doesn't get bullied for being a weird city kid. She has friends, but she's not very close to any of them, largely bc she's the only kid in town that actually believes in the Kemonogami. I see her as still being a bit of the class oddball bc of that, but the other kids don't dislike her or anything, they're just like "ah, Miu's being Miu again." But since none of them believe her and no one wants to listen to her share Kemonogami stories she still feels lonely.
Kaito, being raised in the city, also has friends. He's not close to them either. They only hang around bc they think all the trouble he gets in is cool ("Aren't you afraid your parents will kill you for that?" "Nah." "Whoa..."), and he's pretty sure none of them would really like him anymore if he said he'd rather stay home playing animal crossing under the covers than go to a party. He's got a reputation that he hates to uphold, cuz he if doesn't, he'll just be even more alone than he already is.
Both of them constantly feel like there's a hole in their heart that they can't figure out how to fill. Miu wishes someone would play along with her whims and do what she wants to for once. Kaito's sick of feeling like his life doesn't have a purpose.
Without a big brother as an excuse to play with bugs or roughhouse or get dirty, Miu's mom is always on her ass about what is and isn't lady like. She cut her hair super short once to look like a boy in her class who she thought was cool, and her mom went ballistic. Without a little sister around as an excuse to own plushies or play dress up or watch cute kiddie movies, Kaito's dad is always on his ass about a what a man should or shouldn't do. He traded a toy car for a stuffed cat at school when he was little, but his dad threw it away as soon as he got home. If he fished it back out later on and hid it in his closet, no he didn't.
Miu's favorite local tall tale is the one about the shrine maiden who was spirited away by beast gods 50 years ago. She often daydreams about being taken away someday, too, to a beautiful world full of weird and wacky monsters. Maybe in a place like that, she could finally fit in.
Kaito overheard the weird goggle-wearing kid in his english class talk about staying up late watching romcoms with his mom once and immediately wished they could be friends. Someone that big of a dork probably wouldn't mind that he's kind of a dork, too. One of his actual "friends" overheard the same thing and only laughed and said "what a loser." Kaito pretended to agree, but he finds himself staring at that boy a lot ever since then.
At first, summer camp did NOT sound like something Kaito would be interested in. When he realized the alternative was being alone at home for hours every day with nothing to do, however, he figured he had nothing to lose.
When Miu heard that a group of camp kids were in town in part to learn about Kemonogami, she excitedly set off to find someone who would actually want to hear her talk about them for once and maybe even come with her to that shrine that no one lets her go to.
When they end up in the other world, despite not knowing she's his sister, Kaito is still overprotective of Miu. She IS the youngest one there, after all, and maybe, just maybe her cute cat ear beanie reminds him a little bit of his plushie. In a world where he hasn't been driving her crazy for years, Miu actually enjoys having Kaito fuss over her. In a weird way, it feels like what she imagined having a normal parent is like. Kaito, for his part, is just thrilled to feel needed.
Opposite to canon, they always agree with each other about what to do and where to go, and they both always choose to stick together over everyone else.
Despite not growing up together, they still have some similar mannerisms and make a lot of the same facial expressions, which the other kids all pick up on as odd. Their hair and eyes are the same color, too, and the longer the others look at them the more they can't help thinking they look a lot alike. It becomes a running joke that they must be long lost siblings, but no one actually thinks it's true.
They do get awfully suspicious once they find out that Miu only has a mom and Kaito only has a dad, but they assume it must be a coincidence. This kind of thing just doesn't happen outside of movies, it's all far too perfect. They do both think they'd rather like to be siblings, though, so they'll pretend to just be doing a bit when they act like family.
I think it'd be fun if in this AU it was left open ended whether they're actually siblings or not. Because at the end of the day, it wouldn't matter to either of them. Whether they're blood related or not, by the time they reach the end of their digimon adventure, they think of each other as siblings anyways.
...you ever think how terrible Kaito would be if he didn't have a little sister
Like yeah he'd probably be less traumatized but he'd also be an only child of neglectful parents with 0 reason to be responsible or try to set a good example
Or how horrible a Miu without an older brother would be
Same life but with no one on her side, no one taking care of her, no unconditional love

Synopsis: One where Harry harbours a little concert crush on someone
Ps. I dreamt this :)
More of my work
Tumblr media
YN was very excited to go see Harry finally!
She have been saving for it for ages that she did not hesitate to go just a tiny bit over budget when buying the pit tickets. Her friend was coming too with her. She has been his fan since his first solo album came out and have been wanting to go see him since his very first tour.
Camping out from the sunrise, being exhausted was worth it if she got to see the person who literally kept her sane during her most difficult of times. In fact even save her at some extent.
She was the typical fangirl. But didn't had any of his merch or his vinyls because she couldn't afford it. That doesn't make her any less of a fan. She spent a little too much on the tickets so she had to stick to her closet to pick out an outfit.
She didn't care. Literally. About what she wore. She wore a gown she'd sewn from a bedsheet for an Instagram reel (she just had a public account where she posted a video of her making that dress and it sort of blew up, got about ten thousand likes). It had big puffy sleeves with green leaves printed on the fabric. She didn't know where she'd wear the dress anyway so she pulled it out today.
Though she didn't felt like it, YN did put in some efforts in how she looked, according to her she might bump into a handsome guy or a very pretty girl tonight. People meet at concerts, it wasn't something unusual but rare. She has been single since she last went to prom which was ages ago and her friends have been bugging her to go out so they all can go on a couples only vacation. She is just going to take her Emotional Support cat with, he is only male and a pussy in her life who's not disappointed her yet. It would at least put an end to what her friends have to say when she doesn't find someone at the concert to go on a date with the very next day.
She woke up an hour early to make a sign for Harry. Not a big paper, just a two by two feet thick craft paper. It is big enough for him to read without blocking anyone's view. She was planning to head first so she can stand at the barricade. She doesn't care if she gets crushed. She just wants to have a nice time with her celebrity crush and her best friend.
Oh, and she did picked up a single rose to throw it towards him. Or at least attempt to.
She kept it close to her so no one can steal her idea as she saw many fans making their signs outside. It wasn't very creative, what she wrote but it was her idea. Soon she was let in and luckily her sleep deprivation was rewarded that she got to stand near the barricade.
She stood there, jammed to the pre show set lists and the opening act, waiting patiently for the person she has been dreaming to see for so long. She even made good friends with one of the security guard standing in front of her by the stage. Her heart started racing the moment the love band stepped up on the stage, it would calm down eventually but start pounding again in anticipation of he could pop up anytime on the stage.
He did eventually came up, with his brown guitar as he kick started his show with Golden. He took her breath away, quite literally as he worked and did his job.
An absolute angel, Harry appeared to her. Dressed in a all jean outfit, a vest and his usual pants with his initials on the back pockets in red sparkles. She found it adorable. Though for the longest the initials and three cherries on the back of his vest was only what she saw.
An hour left. Harry was already dreading to go down the stage. He was having a good time, prancing and jumping and running around the stage like a toddler, singing his songs with double sexual meanings to them. That was an ironic combo he liked to call when he'd see his fans talk about him using those exact same words.
He walked around. Care free. Up until someone caught his eyes. Though she blended in with crying and freaking out fans. She had a small sign with her which she held over the barricade. He found that very sweet of her as she wasn't blocking anyone's attention. But what her sign said was even sweeter and melted his head.
Sunshine, you look so very handsome tonight!!! - it said with a yellow iPhone esque smily emoji drawn on the the end. And there was a red rose in her hand.
He felt blood rushing upto his face, warming his cheeks as he read her sign, again, as he sang through Daydreaming. The nickname got him.
YN almost peed her pants seeing that he saw her sign and smiled at her. He was red like a tomato, how pale he was didn't helped to conceal it either in bright artificial lights around him. From then he kept going back to where she was stood, checking in on time to time, her sign was still on it's place. She wasn't filming but she made sure her friend was. At one point she even doubted he was even looking at her and expressed her concern tk her friend.
"He's looking at you idiot," she said, "he's not cross eyed!"
YN liked to believe that in that moment because everything felt like a waking dream to her. She was dreaming with her eyes wide open in all her consciousness, in all her senses. Though she still doubts it's one of those dreams which feels awfully real that when you wake up you feel like it literally happened to you seconds ago.
Harry couldn't help himself but look at the girl with the sign. He'd said it before that he can tell how he feels about someone with just looking in their eyes and he saw how sweet she was through her eyes. Or at least he liked to think so, because she is also so very gorgeous and easy on eyes to look at, like holding onto am Amethyst crystal or places slices of fresh cucumber on your eyes, or getting the perfect amount of sleep at night time.
Is he over exaggeration? Absolutely he doesn't not care!
Before the encore, he stopped to read a few signs. Talk to a couple of people before he went ahead and read her sign out loud because it was just that sweet of a gesture anyone has ever done for him. And he just wanted to talk to her.
"Sunshine, you look so very handsome tonight," Harry read, "why thank you, darling, so do you!" He was flattered all over again, he saw her eyes sparkle as tears brim up in her pretty eyes. She was surprised!
"What is your name?" He asked, crouching down to get closer so he can get her name right, even took off one of his ear piece.
"YN!" She said as loud as she could.
Harry heard it, "YN?" He asked to make sure and she nodded. "Yes, got it right!" He celebrated making the crowd erupt in screams. "Are you from around here YN?" She nodded in no to answer him, "where are you from?"
"India, but I'm here to study." She said, not loud enough but he could read her lips.
"You're here to study? What are you studying, YN?" Harry asked.
The more he kept saying her name the more it made her go crazy inside, and not to mention cry happy tears. Harry knew that so he didn't pointed it out.
"Business?" He said, "that's amazing, best of luck with the rest of your course. Are you having a good time tonight, YN?"
"Yes!" She exclaimed.
"Thank you so much for coming to the show tonight." He stood up because he's got a show to do, "whenever you go back home, give my love to the fans in India. Thank you for bringing such a sweet sign."
"I got you this!" She forwarded the red rose to him holding it at the very tip so it could reach him, standing on her tippy toes as she leaned forward.
"Oh that's for me?" He asked, he didn't hear what she said as he's put his earpiece back on, "thank you." He took it, smelled it.
He went on to introduce the next song, and YN stood there in shock, letting her brain process what the just happened. Just for him to hit her in the face by singing Medicine after two songs. Well, he didn't hit her but it was like a punch in her face. But he still kept going back to where she was stood, not even being subtle about it. The girls around her started to give her side eyes seeing that.
She was looking for the rose she gave him. She thought he threw it away at some other fan like he usually does, but instead she found it hung on the belt hook of his pants.
"He's got a crush on you!" Her friend yelled when he looked at her for the millionth time there.
"Stop it." She mumbled to her friend, feeling suddenly threatened when more people around her started to look at her and even film those little interactions. Being in the fandom YN has closely seen how scary his fans can get, even though he was just looking at her, it made her feel scared somewhere in her heart.
It was best to brush it off and move on and enjoy the rest of the show.
"Do you like know him?" A girl standing next to YN's best friend asked once Harry had ran off stage and everyone was leaving as well.
"Like personally? No," YN answered confusedly and earned a weirded out look from the girl as she walked away.
"Well, she was a bitch." YN's friend commented making her laugh. "See your bedsheet dress caught his eye, now when are you two getting married?" She hooked her arm around YN's as they walked out.
"Next week." YN smiled with a faux-blush and they both ended up in a fit of laugh. "Did you get all the pictures of us?"
"Oh yes!" Her friend nodded. They looked through the pictures both of them took together today, going though the memories they miss already. "Oh my god, I'm going through my post concert depression. How do you feel?"
They both were in a can back to their flat, "I feel like I'm dreaming. I might miss all of this in the morning."
"Did you gals went to Harry Styles concert today?" Their cab driver asked. It was a lady who seemed to be in her mid 40s, she was super sweet and they talked throughout the ride back home, to YN and her friend's surprised she liked his music too.
It was when YN reached that it hit to her that everything happened tonight was real!
She really talked to the guy she has been crushing over for past six-seven years. That made all the sleep disappear from her system even though she. She stayed up going through the videos her friend sent, giggling to herself like a little idiot.
She is idiot for him and she takes all the pride in that.

Sans: I Wasn't Built For This™
Why did he let Nick convince him this would be fun? Go camping they said. It'll be fun they said.
He refuses to sleep in a tent. He just puts the seats down in his car, all the pillows and blankets he needs, and sleeps there. He's above sleeping on the ground tbh.
“Hiking? That... That sounds exhausting. How long is the trail? FIVE MILES!? Nah. No thanks. you guys go ahead, I'll protect the site from bears or something.”
Day drinks like a mother fucker. Also is the one who usually grills the food considering he's the best cook in the group. Naps all the time.
Once he's a bit more tipsy he's a lot more open to the adventure. Found a rope swing over a lake and went for it without hesitation.
Is the only one who's actually able to start a fire. He watches Nick and Jonas try to do the stick trick and just, “Oh my God, that's so stupid. Just use a lighter. Fuck.”
Tells the best scary stories at the campfire. Leaves the others trembling all night long with his terrifying tales of torment.
Sometimes, no don't tell anyone, he'll get up on the roof of his car and just stargaze... He's glad Nick got him to come. The stars are so clear outside of the city...
Nick: The Environmentalist™
IS THAT A FUCKING BEER CAN!? ON MY HIKING TRAIL!? ABSOLUTELY THE FUCK NOT!
Always looking for the closest trash can and picking up every piece of litter he finds on the trail or near the lake.
Brings little bags with him and gives everyone some to encourage them to also pick up any litter they see.
Always taking candid videos to document their experience. Will do a David Attenborough impression while filming his friends doing stupid shit. No, it's not a good impression, it's the worst British accent you've ever heard.
If he sees a stream he WILL follow it. Even if it goes off the trail. Probably the least responsible thing he does but it's just SO FASCINATING! If he does need help, Jonas can just howl like the wolf he is until Nick makes his way back.
He loves exploring. Always climbing on rocks, and trees.
Always trying to get Sans to participate, no matter how many times Sans says no.
Talks in length about how he wants to set up an off the grid cabin and just "live off the land," in a commune or something. Always talking about how he'd start a big garden, get rain catchers, solar panels, compost toilets... If Ted Kaczynski can do it, why can't he?
"I'm sorry, the fucking Unibomber?” “He had some good points! Don't worry I would never fucking bomb anyone, he was wrong for that.”
Nick always plays the guitar at the campfire and the boys make up random songs to sing with each other, with Nick leading them like the lil lead singer that he is. :,)
Alphys: Having several regrets...
Nope. Sans is right. Sleeping in a tent sucks! Worst sleep ever. She ends up sleeping in the car with Sans.
Chokes down the bitter ass coffee they have to brew themselves to feed her ✨addiction✨
She misses takeout delivery. And video games.
IS THAT A FUCKING SPIDER!?
She absolutely REEKS of bug spray. Mosquitoes don't even go after her, but she still sprays herself down out of paranoia.
Unlike Sans, she actually tries to participate in the "fun" activities cause she doesn't want to feel left out. Is always out of breath and has to be carried by Jonas halfway through because she is literally gonna have an asthma attack. She doesn't even have asthma, but she will after this five mile hike!
Walks into several spider webs, the poor dear.
Loves the campfire and listening to Sans's stories and Nick's songs. Probably the best part of camping is that moment with everyone. She also loves s'mores :)
S'mores are definitely the best part of camping... And also the fact it makes her feel like she's in a studio ghibli movie!
Jonas : The Wilderness Explorer ™
Jonas absolutely loves camping! Being outdoors in general is his jam. Just because he's a grunge skater boy doesn't mean he's above fishing and hiking.
Always trying to impress people with survivalist shit. Can pitch a tent like no one's business and builds little shelters out of sticks, leaves and moss for fun. Still hasn't figured out how to start a fire with sticks but he's persistent.
Really enjoys the fact Sans is out of his element. Constantly making fun of him. "HAH! look at this guy, he can't even pitch a tent."
After Sans decided he was above sleeping on the ground, Jonas thought it would be really funny to tie some hammocks up in the trees. Sans wakes up to the guys sleeping in the canopy and Jonas is just gloating, “WHO'S ABOVE WHO NOW, SANS!?"
When they're hiking, he always climbs up onto big rocks and howls because it's the funnest shit to do ever.
Loves swimming in the lake and when Sans finds the rope, he's overjoyed. Always doing a bunch of flips off of it. Definitely caught a fish with his bare hands.
The fish promptly slapped him in the face as it flailed from his grip to get back in the water.
LOVES s'mores, but can't eat chocolate, so he just eats the marshmallows off the stick. Always talking about how there's a proper way to roast the marshmallow but immediately burns it.
Is the one who can't sleep after Sans's ghost stories.
Midas: the Anti Boy-Scout 😈
Unlike Alphys, Midas isn't afraid of creepy crawlies... In fact, he's the one tormenting people with creepy crawlies >:)
Definitely placed a tarantula on top of Alphys's sleeping bag and is the reason she now refuses to sleep outside.
Finds the biggest bugs imaginable and chases Maeve on the hiking trail. He is a fucking menace to society and MUST be stopped!
He swims under water (with tinted goggles of course) and pretends to be a water snake to freak people out. Will like swim underneath them and his snake hair will definitely slither along their legs. Has been kicked in the face.
When he's not terrorizing his friends, he's binge drinking at the campsite and smoking. Probably knows all the mushroom types and exactly which mushrooms will get people off their shits.
That being said, he has used his powers for good once and caught a big cotton mouth near the campsite so no one would actually get hurt. Carried it away safely and no one was the wiser. An unsung hero, truly.
One time he went out by himself to just enjoy nature, and took his sunglasses off to enjoy the breeze on his face.
Almost turned a hiker into a monument. Thankfully, he was quick to dodge that bullet.
After Sans's ghost stories, Midas will purposefully stay up and fuck with the boys while they're trying to sleep. Like I said, a fucking menace.
Maeve: ✨ Polaroid Princess ✨
“Wow this is so aesthetic.” *📸*
Where Nick is taking stupid candid videos, Maeve is always forcing everyone into fun, cutesy group photos.
Loves watching the sunset, always crooning over the pretty colors.
Basking in a warm patch of sun is one of her favorite activities. Has definitely found a sunny meadow and just laid there to watch the clouds.
She's always put together, outfits are always coordinated. Definitely over packed and now has to wear EVERY outfit she packed for a two day camping trip.
Much like Nick, she's always trying to get Sans to participate but it's to no avail.
She is also the one to keep Alphys the most company and encourage her all the time when they're hiking. “Guys maybe we should turn around, Alphys is getting tired.” “No I'm fine!” -cue Jonas having to give her a piggy back ride back to the camp site, with Maeve tagging along like “I told you.”
Always forcing people to drink water to stay hydrated. “Hydrate or Die-drate."
Hates swimming, but, again, loves basking on the shoreline while the boys are goofing around in the water.
Jonas and Midas have pushed her in the water once and regretted it immediately because she hulked out on them. Went full Lioness on their asses. She is literally the tallest and biggest out of all them, they should've seen this coming 🤦🏼‍♀️ The bugs were one thing, but THAT CROSSED A LINE!
Frisk: Little Miss Sunshine 🌸😚
Absolutely precious. Always asking people if they need help while setting up the campsite. Definitely brought fairy lights and hangs them up in her tent and around their site in the trees. Everyone wants to hang out in her tent because she made it so cozy. Even Sans isn't above hanging out in there.
Is definitely super stoked about camping. Much like Jonas, she absolutely adores the outdoors and spending time in nature, even though she doesn't have any of the survival skills.
Always asking Jonas to show her how to do cool stuff and he is more than happy to teach her how to do things. He definitely shows off for her all the time, and she enjoys the attention.
Keeps the campsite tidy and organized, always agreeing with Nick about keeping the land clean and picking up litter.
When everyone goes off to hike, she stays behind with Sans to hang out with him alone.
She actually manages to convince him to enjoy the outdoors and the two go off on another trail by themselves, and just talk about life and shit. Occasionally they can hear Jonas howling or Maeve's blood curdling screams from being chased by bugs and they start giggling with each other.
Definitely makes little wildflower bouquets for everyone and also flower crowns.
Everyone is always making sure she's having fun.
Hangs out with Maeve because they're pretty similar. They're always taking pictures together and Frisk is always offering to take pictures of the group so Maeve can actually be in said pictures.
Loves swimming. Tried the rope but it unfortunately snapped on her. The boys constantly asked if she's okay after flopping on her back, but she's just giggling about it the whole time.
Is the one who kicked Midas in the face. She feels really bad about it, and he always teases her about it but hey, he shouldn't have been acting like the creature from the black lagoon!
Loves listening to Sans's ghost stories and Nick's songs too. Definitely the boys' biggest cheerleader.
At night, she climbs up on the roof of the car to stargaze with Sans, and the two point out constellations with each other and tell each other stories.

For some reason, these songs gives me Camping vibes so...

Backstory: (Dis is loooooong) Before getting in his past, we first have to talk about his mother, Anne Larson or as her actual birth name Chenguang Shih. Chenguang was the daughter of the notoriously known unhinged pirate, Baozhai. Baozhai ended up having Chenguang completely by accident after she had a one night stand with one of her crewmates. She decided to keep the baby, wanting to start a long line of pirates like her. Baozhai had the baby girl just around when her torment was finally being taken seriously by the royals. Unfortunately, Baozhai ended up passing away on her boat when a cannon caused it to come crashing down. Luckily, Chenguang was safe as she had been taken by Baozhai's right hand man, Ironbeard with her. He did his best to care for the girl, holding up the legacy his captain would've wanted. Yet, he was a wanted criminal along with the other crewmates that survived the crash, so taking care of her was very difficult. But Ironbeard still pushed through.
Unfortunately, Ironbeard and the other were caught by a couple of guards and locked away. A judge sentenced them to be publicly executed by hanging the next. As for baby Chenguang, she was taken away and raised by the captain of the guards. Her full name being changed to Anne Larson just a few days later. When the day arrived for Ironbeard and the others be hung, the guards were surprise to see that they had escaped during the night. Ironbeard swore revenge for his captain and that he would one day return. As for the baby, he couldn't find her and gave up as the guards were on his tail. He regretted to not have fulfilled Baozhai's wish and those guards were going to pay for what they had done.
As for Anne, she was raised to never know of the events that took place. Her adoptive father, also known as Maxwell Larson, had told her of Baozhai and how she was a psychopathic murder that deserved what she got. So, Anne grew up hating Baozhai despite the fact she was actually hating her own biological mother. As she grew, Anne became educated and sophisticated. She quickly rose up to be one of the smartest students in her class. Getting all A's and being presented with awards for her achievements. Anne was asked to join a university of astronomy which she gladly accepted.
While she was attending, she ended up meeting a handsome young man by the name of Aaron Brown. Aaron was the typical bad boy that would rather get into trouble then be in class. He was charming, funny, and very attractive... Aaron easily charmed Anne which made her fall in love with him. Instead of focusing on her studies, she'd often daydream about him. Anne just couldn't get him out of her head. Eventually, Aaron asked her out and they went on a date. Which spiraled into several dates... Which turned into them dating each other. Anne would often ditch class just to be with him. This caused her to fail her class. Maxwell was angry at her for this. He demanded she'd retake the year and to leave Aaron. Anne was too far in love with him and didn't give into what he wanted.
Instead, Anne ended up dropping out of the university to further pursue her relationship with Aaron. They got married a few months afterwards and left their home planet. Anne decided to work as a weaver as Aaron became a marine. A year into their marriage, it all came crumbling down. Anne became severely depressed as she realized she gave up her dreams of becoming an astrologist. Aaron no longer found her attractive and began to pursuing other women behind her back. They argued a lot more than usual and it began to get physical. Finally the rose tinted glasses came off and they began to see how bad their relationship was. Anne wanted to save their marriage because she couldn't bare the thought being alone. Aaron still wanting the good things that came in a relationship while secretly having side pieces, decided to work with her on their marriage. The two came to a conclusion that having a child would be the best way to solve it.
Six months later, Jeremiah was born. Surprise, surprise, their relationship didn't get any better. Poor Jeremiah was now thrown into the picture of a broken marriage. Aaron became abusive towards Anne and didn't allow her to leave the house without his say. She'd get hurt if he didn't listen to what he said. Jeremiah wasn't safe from his abusive nature also. If the lad dared to bother him, he'd be met with a smack to the face. For five straight years had Anne and Jeremiah endured the abuse of Aaron. Anne finally decided to break from Aaron's abuse when something terrible happened to Jeremiah. One night during a drunken rage, Aaron put his hands on Jeremiah and tore out his left eye with a broken bottle. The event made Anne realize how horrible the situation was getting and it wasn't going to change unless he did something about it.
So during the night, she grabbed whatever she could carry and escaped with Jeremiah. Anne went back to her home planet where asked a place to stay with her adoptive father. Maxwell would've turned her away but when he saw the situation she was very distressed. He quickly let her in, where she explained what happened to her over the course of the years she's been gone for. Maxwell decided he would help her get back on her feet and get her son some needed medical attention. With his connections, Anne was able to earn a job as an assistant for an astrologist. She began to focus on her mental health which got better overtime. The same couldn't be said for Jeremiah. His worsened.
The abuse of his father caused major trauma in him that he wasn't able to get over. He became quiet, easily angered by others, and had thoughts about violence. Since he only had one eye now, he was bullied by the other kids once he was able to go to school. This aggravated him and he'd often get into fights because of it. Anne decided to pull him out of public school and into homeschool because things were getting out of hand. Jeremiah was taken to several doctors to see what was wrong with him. Each time, he refused to say anything. Anne stopped trying to help him since he was refusing to help himself. Yet, he was just a child. A child who wanted help but didn't know how to say it. Maxwell, decided to take over for trying to help him. Or what he thought would help him. He sent Jeremiah to a boot camp where he'd be straightened out for his bad behavior. Jeremiah loathed Maxwell for this and promised himself he'd get revenge. Life at the boot camp was utter hell. He was pushed to limits that caused him to have mental breakdowns in private. Jeremiah didn't have any friends. This caused him to be the target of the bullying of the other boys there. Throughout the torment, he was able to find comfort in the tales of well known pirates. His favorite being of the insane pirate captain Baozhai. Something about her unhinged, eccentric personality and her cruel brutality against others whenever the messed with her, manged put a smile on his face. (Baozhai in an old photo: *tearing someone's guts out.*
Jeremiah: 🙂)
At fourteen years old, Jeremiah made surprising a discovery that he was biological related to Baozhai. He had overheard Maxwell chatting with another guard about how he was glad Anne never grew up knowing that she was related to that maniac. Yet now that Jeremiah knew, he was angry that this knowledge was withheld from him. Why would they do such a thing? He tried telling his mother about this... His mother called him crazy... crazy... crazy...
That was the breaking point for Jeremiah. For a majority of his life, he was told that there was something wrong with him and that he needed help. Often being titled mentally ill or not alright in the head... Despite knowing he was, he was just tired of being treated like one.
Jeremiah ended up running away from his home planet by hiding on a cargo ship. He wanted to start somewhere fresh, where he wouldn't be as well known. He also wanted to know more about Baozhai, since most books didn't have enough information about her having a child, other than speculated rumors. For a while, he traveled around places, in search for more knowledge about his grandmother aka Baozhai. That's when he walked into a small tavern. He tried to figure out where else he could ask about her. An anonymous figure in the corner asked why he was wanted to learn about these things. Jeremiah, in the best way he could, explained that Baozhai was his grandmother. The tavern exploded into laughter after hearing him say that. They mocked him for a bit until the anonymous figure silenced the entire tavern by shooting a random person. They stood up and recounted the tale of Baozhai's fall. How she wanted the death of the upper class to continue. It was originally her plan to make a line of pirates to be like her. Then it was all ruined because of the guards. How he admitted that he failed because he wasn't careful enough... It was Ironbeard recounting all of this. He decided to continue with what she would've wanted... If Jeremiah wanted to join him. Jeremiah quickly took the deal, seeing as there was nothing holding him back now. On the outside, it didn't seem he was all too excited but on the inside, he was thrilled to finally be apart of something... And that he'd get to be just like his idol.
Likes: sharp objects, creepy bugs, reading, drawing, smoking cigars, and cats
Dislikes: his left eye, being told he's crazy, others trying to get close to him, physical affection (even though he sorta wants it), and long conversations
Other: Jeremiah doesn't like being called Jeremy or Jerry or literally any nickname to his name. If someone calls him "Jeremy" he would literally rip out their tonsils.

It's time we brought our good ol trash rat and slimey boi into the story

Chapter 1
Thomas stirred the boiling pot beneath a slowly darkening sky, making sure to watch the food so nothing burned. He wasn't the best at cooking, but he'd learned enough to make some food when stuck in the woods, and having a Logan helped quite a bit.
"Hey!" He stumbled a bit as Roman crashed into his leg, the Eevee chasing Patton around. Roman shook his head, chirped up a sorry before going back to the chase. Thomas shook his head fondly, returning his gaze to the cooking stand "be careful guys, Virgil keep an eye on them" Patton and Roman cried out at Thomas' distrust,  but continued playing anyways as Virgil watched laying by the table.
After some time, Virgil occasionally snapping at Roman, Thomas was nearing down with the stew when crashing and yelps caught his attention. He whipped his head up just to see Roman and Virgil tangled together, the table fallen onto its side and the finished berry skewers astray across the ground. Patton ran over, sniffing as the two untangled themselves from each other. Thomas groaned.
"That's it! Patton, you're going to stay right next to me, Virgil and Roman, you're going out and getting us more berries" all three cried out as Logan shook his head from Thomas' shoulders.
"You two, don't even try. Virgil, I need you to keep an eye on Roman so he doesn't run off. And don't try me, I remember that giant pile of Oran berries you brought us" Virgil grumbled, hissing a bit at Roman before leading the way out of the clearing circle. Patton walked over, glumly laying down over Thomas feet. Thomas sighed, he could pick the table up later he supposed, focusing on the pot once again.
Not noticing the two pairs of eyes watching.
Eevee flicked his tail, the uniquely marked pokemon correctly predicting and stifling his brother's angry huff once again. Even with this action, he could understand his partner.
Because he was right there, right there! Their Eevee brother was walking away with another Eevee, telling the brown furred pokemon ('Roman' he believed) off for getting him mixed up in the other's mess. And then there was the trainer.
Eevee glared at the smiling human, stirring a large delicious smelling pot, two more Eevees laying on him. If it wasn't for their brother always being around the human or the other pokemon, they couldn't have gotten him back a while ago. Yet, they had learned their lesson after the chase, the marked Eevee stifling his own growl at the light gray Eevee laying at the trainer feet. If it wasn't for him especially, he remembered the day they almost got their smallest back.
"Please" his brother whined quietly "he's alone with just one of the Eevees, if he saw us he would help! Can't we just go get him now?" He shot a sympathetic look at the other Eevee, understanding his pain. The trash covered pokemon always had a bit of a stronger connection, not much but something more, as he was the one to find the small one in a dumpster. The other shuffled closer and he rapped a tail around his non blooded brother, keeping him close.
"No, you remember how strong, what was he called? Patton was, and you see how often they train. We wouldn't stand a chance" the other's ears lowered.
"I.. I just want him back" the other murmured, ducking his head into his fur, the cleaner of the pair giving a reassuring lick back.
The two jolted as they were brought back to reality, only realizing too late how loud they began to speak as a gray head poked through the bush they were hiding within.
The three Eevees stared at each other for only a moment before the marked Eevee leapt up, standing defensively between his friend and the pet, letting out a low growl. Its eyes merely blinked behind glasses before brightening.
"Oh! It's you!" Patton exclaimed, from the sound of it his tail swishing back and forth rapidly "whatcha doing here?" The tail swishing suddenly stopped as the shiny glared "you aren't here to try and steal Virgil away again, are you?"
The protective Eevee pushed the other behind him a bit, signaling to run, but the trash loving Eevee didn't budge. He sent a look back at the other, only to see the pokemon completely petrified. Oh right, last time they came in contact with Patton he knocked him out nearly immediately.
The shiny seemed to notice, blinking away the anger from his eyes "are you hungry? We wouldn't mind you joining us for dinner, if you wanted!"
And now the marked Eevee froze, yet in confusion. Did.. he just offer food to them? With a trainer no less? He was about to protest when his stomach betrayed him.
Patton perked as the marked Eevee used his tail to bring his brother forward, keeping him close ".. I guess free food would be a stupid thing to pass up" Patton giggled before his head dissapeared as he ran back to the trainer.
"Wait" the trashy Eevee stopped him, "What are you doing? We, we can't-" "I know, but" the smaller yet protective Eevee hesitated "we, we might be able to see him again" the other looked down. This could be their only safe chance, heck the moment they see him the trainer might run them off. The realization they may not be able to be with their youngest brother again hit both hard, but at least seeing him, whether forced to stay with the trainer or (somehow) happy with his place, at least they would know.
The non blooded brothers looked at each other one last time before nodding, making their way through the bush.
Thomas kept a half an eye on Patton as he turned off the camping stove set MJ gave him, walking over with Logan still laying over his shoulders and picking up the knocked over mini foldable table. He went to pick up the dirty berry skewers when a chirp behind him caught his attention.
"So, what were you looking at Pat-" Thomas stood and turned around, only for Logan to let out a deep grown from his shoulders and surprise from himself.
"So" Thomas smiled, crossing his arms "we meet again" the two Eevees moved cautiously into view, Patton leading. He remembered these Eevees from a couple of months ago, yet he didn't think he'd be followed.
Patton chirped happily, running up to Thomas and nodded to the skewers. Thomas raised an eyebrow "you.. want then to join us for dinner?" Pattom chirped again, rising up onto his hind legs and pawing up in an honestly adorable manner. Thomas smiled, petting Logan's head to calm his fur.
"Alright, if they help us clean this up, they can join" The two Eevees seemed surprised by the news, but after Thomas explained where to put them, they rushed forwards to help.
With their help everything finished up quite quickly, Thomas starting a fire once again for when Roman and Virgil returned back. Virgil.
The trainer was now sitting in a camping chair, Logan still giving him a look of 'how dare you let these hooligans near my son and husband again', but Thomas blatantly ignored him, instead focusing on poking at the fire as Patton and the dirt covered Eevee rolled around, they one with marks around it's eye lazily watched the fire a few feet away from Thomas. He stole some glances at the strangers but inevitably realized they would commit no harm.
Though something, something was bugging him.
He sighed, dropping the stick some inches from the fires edge and leaning back in his chair, all the Eevees halting in their action and looking to the trainer as he huffed.
"Sometimes, I hate language barriers" he muttered, causing four heads to tilt, making the trainer chuckle.
"Well, I know you two tried to steal Virgil from us, you probably know him from somewhere" he waved at the wild Eevees "the only thing I don't know is, well, why" Patton and Logan perked in interest, as if realizing they never thought to think of that.
At that moment, the bushes started to shake.
______________________________

Virgil slightly winced as he picked up a falling Pecha berry, placing the berry back onto the pile. Originally the two were pulling the giant leaf topped of berries together, but berries kept rolling off, and with Roman really being the one punished, Virgil got the easy job.

Roman stopped for breathing break, panting slightly "c'mon Bluk Berry, please switch?" In response Virgil grabbed a Bluk berry and tossed it at Roman's face when he wasn't looking, getting a sad and insulted hiss back "nope, you got me into this, you get to do the labor Princey" Roman dropped his ears glumly "calm down you Drama Vespiquen, we're literally almost back" the idiot he called his boyfriend perked up at that, grabbing the leaf's strong stem and pulling backwards.

Not long afterwards they reached their final obstacle, Virgil making his way to the front and pulled the branches off to the side to make a clear path. As Roman dragged it through the same damn Pecha berry was knocked off the top, bouncing down to the ground. The dark furred Eevee huffed at it, letting the starter pass through before paddling forward and picking it up. No way he was going to leave a Pecha behind again.

He sighed, turning around and ducking his head, his slightly longer ears straight (or as straight as possible) back as he pushed through the bush. Seriously, why did they pick this way to come back as well, they could have moved anywhere and they came back the difficult route. He pushed his way through, his body escaping the bush only to bump right into the berry pile. Honestly it was a miracle nothing fell.

He placed the Pecha berry down, making his way around the pile "Roman, what the fu-" he stopped dead.

Roman stood in a defensive position, low growls escaping his throat. Patton perked up by a newly set fire, Logan glancing over from Thomas' lap. And then..
It
It couldn't be
He brushed against Roman, eyes wide as two pokemon he thought he would never see again stared back. Puzzle pieces he accidentally lost, ones he looked for for so long before accepting defeat.

One stepped forward, the stink from his fur not pleasant, but it wasn't horrible. It felt familiar in fact. The Eevee took a deep breath, before

"hey Little Trash" the Eevee smiled, surprisingly still in one place "did you miss us?"

The answer was given with Virgil tackling said sticky Eevee, purrs rolling out like a thunderstorm "its you!"

His brother laughed, quickly switching back to his chaotic playful nature and snapped up at the smaller, rolling them around.

"Hey! What about me?" The two tumbled apart, Virgil nearly bouncing up and, without noticing the completely confused gazes coming from Thomas, Logan, Roman, and Patton, bolted strait into the strangely marked Eevee, cuddling deep into the parental and brotherly figure, breathing in the long lost familiar scent. The trashy Eevee crashed into the pair, thankfully not knocking them over, joining the three Eevees into a long lost family hug.

It was something Virgil missed, the two scents were like a comfortable blanket, rapping around himself leaving all his worries outside. He didn't want to confront Thomas or the other, he didn't want to know if they would stay or not, Virgil just wanted to be here with them, and unbelievable, he was. He finally found half of his family he lost, he wouldn't lose them again.

Unfortunately though, time still existed, a attention grabbing cough came from Thomas crashing reality back down on the trio, the crackling of fire, the wind blowing through the trees
and the low growls coming from two of the other Eevees.

Virgil leaned back and stared curiously at his teammates, instinctively sliding a paw in front of his brothers, surprising the two. From their past prospective, Virgil always stayed back, uncomfortable with any form of pokemon battles. Yet here the youngest was, defending the two against pokemon he seemed to trust. Trust? Did he not?

The two Eevees shared a glace, one thing running in both their minds
was it possible to get their brother back?

X1 reaction to you holding their hand Pt. 2/2
Continuation of Part 1
Note: Just a little PSA that I do not own any of the gifs I use in my reactions. Also, YES, I do write for the rest of the top 20 (specially Jinhyuk, he's my baby) so feel free to request about them ✨
—————
Dohyun
"This is so embarassing."
Dohyun muttered as his mother kissed him goodbyes and gave him safety instructions as if he was going to war.
"It's just a one night camp, mom, why are you guys making such a big deal out of it?!"
His mother, ignorant to his words, only continued her montage of prayers and goodwill she wished to send with him. With a final kiss to his forhead, she finally let him go, much to his relief.
But just when he thought he'd finally be able to cross the driveway and get into the car with his friends, you happened to approach him from the other side of the driveway.
"Oh come on! Not you too?!"
You just shrugged in confusion as you stood in front of him.
"What? I'm just here to hand you this."
You handed him a bug repellent you'd been planning to give him because you were sure he must've overheard you when you were suggesting things he should pack for the night.
"Oh thank god! I almost forgot. Thanks."
Flashing a smile, Dohyun took the repellent from you. Before he could say his goodbye, you grabbed his hand and began chanting,
"Dear god this is baby Dohyun's first night out please protect him from harm-"
"Oh my god! You guys are unbelievable!"
You laughed as he stomped off in the opposite direction, not noticing the small smile that took over his face the closer he got to the car.

You holding his hand out of nowhere is just literal torture for him. He can not speak properly, he can not seem to focus on anything and neither can he make sense of the food in front of him.
You, ignorant of the effect you have on him, only stare at him, bewildered, as he looks like a tomato you had recently picked out at the vegetable shop.
In short, please give him a warning before holding his hand next time.

DongPyo
"Let's go through this one more time, why am I holding you hand?"
Walking across the crowded hallway of your school, you put forth the question in front of Dong Pyo.
"Because you love me and really want to go to prom with me."
You only glared as you replied, "NO! I'm holding your hand because you have the attention span of a 2 year old and don't want to lose you in the canteen again."
"Meaning, more or less, you love me and can't live without me?"
If anyone else had said that, you would've slapped the smile off from his or her face but it was Dong Pyo, you were talking about so you let his comment slide, but not without a smile sparking up on your face.

Eunsang
Probably the only guy who is totally chill with you holding his hand. I mean there isn't even a single ounce of reaction that he shows when you hold his hand, much to your relief.
But secretly, in his heart, he'd love the small difference between the size of your hands and the way they didn't fit in perfectly but felt perfect anyway.

Junho
Junho joins Eunsang in his reaction to you holding his hand. We all know he is our robot boy lol so his reaction is quite similar to a robot.
He only shoots you a glance when he feels your hand in his but warmth fills his body nonetheless.

HyeongJun
Remember how in ep 1 of pdx101, they kept editting Hyeongjun's cheeks with a blush? Well that's exactly the kind of reaction you'll get if you suddenly hold his hand.
Caution! Hyeongjun is a baby and holding his hand out of nowhere scares him to death so please be careful next time 😁
