sure, canon's cool and all, but have you considered team ro au where sasuke is DEAD CONVINCED that Weasel is shisui and has this absolute vendetta against Weasel because he thinks Weasel's taking all his brother's time?

itachi is devastated, but can't say anything because, y'know, anbu secrets. accepts the kicks to his shins as punishment for being a bad brother.

shisui thinks this is the funniest fucking thing he's ever heard and absolutely does nothing to discourage sasuke. actively encourages it sometimes with comments like 'well, you've never seen Weasle and me in the same place....' and 'well, i am very good at clones. there'd be nothing stopping me from just making a clone in civilian clothes to throw you off....'

kakashi and tenzo spend way too much time trying to figure out how sasuke hasnt figured it out yet, considering kakashi&tenzo constantly walk around in full anbu gear without their masks. like, sure, itachi's good about secrecy and rules, but the three spend a decent amount of time together outside of missions, and kakashi isn't exactly, y'know, subtle. and sure, shisui frequently tags along cause where there's one bird boy, there's usually the other. BUT C'MON, KID!! itachi, your little brother is not built for recon missions. (he knows. gods, he knows....)

itachis narrative follows through at first, but falls apart if you inspect it. his story's actually quite inconsistent...

like only focusing on his treatment of sasuke, we are told he did it to make him stronger. but its all very vague and a flimsy excuse for the sheer agony and torture it caused to the brother he loved. his character or backstory didnt seem to be finalized when he was first introduced..

nevertheless i do love the 'actually he loved his brother' storyline. its very tragic. his canon actions offer a lot for interpretation...

i read a fic where itachi loved sasuke so much he killed the uchihas because he felt thy were trapping him and wanted to see sasuke fly. hmmmm*

possibilities...(the love can be twisted too)

i feel like all the anti itachi portay him as too...overly willing to kill his clan? (for the sake of konoha) wasnt danzos ultimatum (either every single uchiha dies at roots hands..or only sasuke will be spared if he does it himself) playing a major part in his decision??...

anyways kishimoto did end up creating one of the most iconic characters of anime/manga...

so im not complaining ...i dont think the uchiha storyline would be as memorable without the twist

it will forever baffle me, all those memes that paint sasuke as this dumb, idiotic character that knows nothing and is a selfish brat for wanting to kill his brother who loves him and power-obsessed for leaving to orochimaru, and then pretend itachi didnt have any part in that. that that was all sasuke, uninfluenced.

setting aside the question of (his intentions, if it made sense, what was a better alternative, was it morally justified etc.) its a fact that the one who made him that way was... itachi. he was the one who told him to hate him, to kill his best friend for the mangekyou sharingan, to grow stronger, to cling to hate and revenge, to come after him to kill him. 

he was the one who told him he lacks enough hate, called him weak, and repeatedly used tsukoyomi to make him relive the massacre and hate him, therefore want to grow stronger to kill him. he actively hid the truth and manipulated it to be that sasuke would never find out, even after death, he was the one who took the brush and painted himself a mindless villain, just to make him hate him. that was all itachi. that was what drove him to orochimaru, to leave konoha, to try and cut off naruto. 

sasuke wasnt somehow naturally that way, (on the contrary, he went after itachi right after seeing his parents bodies, stopped himself from killing naruto)- itachi had to constantly influence him to fester hate that way. it was literally all part of itachis plan! itachi’s!!! people just ignore that, fuck?

like i love itachis character too, i genuinely enjoy his and sasukes storyline. this is not an attack on his character. its just kind of irritating when people lift him up while putting sasuke down by like, exaggerating and making him out to be a pathetic spoilt brat of a character and pretend itachis the actual and only victim bcs how terrible to have a brother who you love but wants to kill you, somehow ignoring that itachi was the one who manipulated his brother? like yeah itachi was manipulated and under pressure too, but in terms of his and sasukes relationship he is the one who lied!!!

like i dont even care about his mistakes or whatever, i care abt sasuke being made out to be the "villain" in their dynamic

Team Pyro is always on my mind...Obito, Itachi, Shisui, Sasuke and sometimes Kakashi. ANBU, the lot of them, and all jounin-rank. With Mangekyou's and mountains of katon jutsus.

All of them are socially awkward, besides Shisui. Sarcasm tenfold and all of them are always scowling. All of them have flee on sight and people shit their pants whenever they realize who they are. Five, hot men walking as a group ln the streets of Konoha. And they would tease men and women alike just for the fun of it.

Uchiha loves fiercely, and you will be dead. I repeat. You will be dead in their arms if you try harming one of them. You do not hurt them, especially the youngest.

They're fond to cats. Imagine them smiling at the cute felines on their arms and laps.

Pyromaniac tendencies. Like, if you see property damage and fire, you would immediately assume Team Pyro did it.  Sasuke + Obito has Rinnegans in this au, with Kakashi still having one eye from Obito.

I really love how you draw Itachis eyes too and how the expressions you draw always feel familiar for the characters I dearly love. You dance gracefully between canon and fandom and combine it so wonderfully you wouldn't ever question it was meant to be this way.

Hey, thank you for your wonderful message and greetings from your neighbour! Getting nice words on how I characterize and depict Itachi and Shisui is the best feeling, so thank you for letting me know how much you like it.

I was originally into Itasasu, with Itachi being my favourite and the dynamic and narrative between the brothers really hitting me like a baseball bat during a formative phase, lmao! And I still love Itasasu to this day for all the obsession, intensity, potential for heartbreak, eroticism, mental insanity, and taboo. But then canon gave us this other person Itachi was really close with, and some mystery love interest was mentioned, and I started imagining him in a relationship dynamic that was almost as meaningful as the one with Sasuke but also could be everything Itasasu couldn't be - on eye level, providing guidance and safety for Itachi, challenging him out of his deadlocked beliefs, with a potential for a believable happy ending. I was drawn to it and never stopped loving the endless possibilities.

As for your second question - not really. There are times I feel more distanced for a while, but it comes and goes in waves that don't last more than a few weeks. Fandom drama, purity culture and people who complain a lot can be demotivating, but so far consciously prioritizing my own connection to what I want to draw (meaning I cut ties with people and walk/stay away from negativity when necessary) worked quite well.

i never really understood why people ship itachi and shisui. i mean didn't shisui tell him to see him as an older brother? and we didn't see much of their relationship anyway so nothing about them seems romantic or sexual to me. and it wasn't the same as say narusasu where their whole relationship is layed out for us to see. i know shiita is not really your topic of interest but what do you think?

I’m not a big fan of Shiita cause I find it boring, but I can see why people ship them. First of all people ship characters for much less than the moments Itachi and Shisui have together in the anime (cause in the manga there’s pretty much nothing)...tbh I ship characters for interacting even less, for their potential or whatever. So I can’t judge shiita shippers, because like I wrote here and here, Shisui and Itachi share values and ideals, they spent a lot of time together and they trusted each other, even Itachi who never trusts anyone trusted Shisui, so it’s a lot.

About elements seemingly romantic or se/xual actually how many characters have se/xually charged moments? not many, and yet ppl ship them lol. Like me. Or heterosexual couples, they have no se/xually charged moment and yet...

Sometimes a good close combat fight is enough to suggest something se/xual that might happen/be imagined, sometimes a few words are. Sometimes you don’t need much to have a glimpse of how some characters’ relationships and dynamics are. Team Taka, for example, don’t have much screen time, but you can totally understand the bond between them. And if you want to see them as brotherly, ok, if you want to see more, there is space for it as well. That’s how shipping works.

What bothers me about Shiita is fanon, because some fandom headcanons became the norm, so (and I’m not referring to anyone in particular, don’t feel attacked. I just remember random things I saw online) there is kinda shy Itachi who enjoys to become a submissive bottom with Shisui (I mean there are controlling people/characters who like to be sub and this fan opinion makes sense, but now it’s the only one and I’d like to see more variety, because the opposite makes sense too), Shisui who’s a dork even tho he was one of the most feared Konoha shinobi and he was the one who influenced Itachi’s ideals, and Sasuke being the third weel, always jealous and possessive of Itachi even tho he was never like this in canon and he respected Shisui very much (in the anime he calls him Shisui-san when he was a child).

Another thing that bothers me is the ‘wholesome’ concept that now gets applied to that ship and from which a lot of ppl seem to judge those tho like different stuff in fictional pairings. Ofc wholesome is an option and it makes a lot of sense for them, but there can be more.

(also in the past I wrote a darkfic where there is shiita. needless to say it wasn’t received well in that fandom lol)

Since you mentioned NS I have the same problem with that fandom’s portrayal cause despite the many moments they have, and despite the ending, which highlighted how unhealthy and un-wholesome their relationship is, they misinterpret both characters and they reduce them in an ooc couple made of a grumpy selfish drama queen and a selfless ball of sunshine, and both are wrong because Sasuke is a selfless character who’s passive in relationships and Nar is a very assertive personality who’s not selfless at all and who’s totally dominant and possessive to Sasuke. But I have a whole tag abt how I see them.

what dynamic in naruto that you think would of had a lot of potential if it was explored? (Ramble below)

For me I'll have to give it to Rock Lee and Sasuke. For Rock Lee, after his fight with Gaara his resolve and confidence in himself is one that can't really be taken away. He has one goal, be a splendid ninja. I feel like encountering sauske and having like a actual conversation wouldn't shake his confidence in his skills but rather shake the foundations of what he wants to become, a splendid ninja. If Itachi is one of the greatest for being so detached from the world and loving the village enough to kill his own family, what does that mean for Rock Lee. Does becoming splendid would mean that he might one day be ordered to kill his beloved might guy or his team mates? And if so, should he? Like I feel like more ninjas should really have gotten to question the villages without being villians out right. Also Lee's genuine comradrie with his team that is so fully returned might bring back memories for Sauske. We don't often get to see exactly what he's thinking so like that added bit of insights he would have in his interactions with Rock Lee which is so much like Naruto in personality would be excellent. Also they would absolutely push each other to new heights, I bet that they might even get excited to fight each other depending on the circumstances. Sharigan vs the potential of taijutsu would be so cool fight wise.

What do you think? Do you disagree/agree with what I say and what kind of dynamic would you wish to be shown more?

i never really thought about sasuke and rock lee but it makes sense?? I think they would have been a good team back at the chunin exams especially because sasuke never really trained taijutsu that much, i love how a lot of the fights in og naruto were inspired by rock lee? I mean we see variations of his moves with both Sasuke and Naruto.

I do think that Rock Lee would do anything to be a good ninja but he would never think of hurting his team, since team Gai is the only team that looked like an actual team? there's also the fact that he loved his team, he looked up to gai so much and the way he cried for Neji?. Also i feel like being in a team like team gai would have helped sasuke way more, team 7 was great but it was eer- not the healthiest team, but team Gai was them pushing each other to be better, which was something that Sasuke did for team 7 but never really got in return (He helped Sakura before the chunin exams and he pushed naruto with sassy comments to be better). also yes, I can see them enjoying fighting with each other as training, they can easily keep up with each other's moves and they could learn new things watching each other and it would be funny to see lee asking Sasuke to wear the green suit lmao

I said this before and I'll keep saying it, Neji and Sasuke would make a good team. Sure they are opposites with Sasuke loving his clan and Neji hating his but both of them are victims of a bad system, it would be cool to see them fight to change the shinobi word.

Maybe Karin and Naruto? both are Uzumaki and i think it’s so unfair that we never saw them properly interact. Also, there are a lot of missing opportunities, it would be interesting having the only uzumakis learning sealing techniques together.

also, I would LOVE to see shisui and akatsuki Itachi, only because i'm a firm believer that Shusui wouldn't agree with Itachi's mindset, he would call him on his bullshit

Totally read that they were cousins and just went with it because, why would people lie about that? Really though, why'd anyone lie about that? Or is it just a misconception? Or assumption because they're in the same clan?

Question! I know Kakashi is your main squeeze, but do you like any of the other Naruto characters?

Oh, honey. I have a crush on at least half of the cast. We all know I just want to be sandwiched between Kakashi and Yamato. At the moment, they’re the two characters who I love most, and I feel like I’d get along with them best. I would marry them if given the opportunity, and I don’t even want to get married. 

However, I also have crushes on Shisui, Sai, Neji, Tenten, Haku, Hayate, Yugao, Temari, Shikamru, Kankuro, Hinata, Hashirama, Iruka, Ko, Obito, Genma, Deidara, Hidan, Kiba, Shikaku, Minato, Kushina, Sasuke, Itachi, Rin, Anko, Ino, Shino, Choji, Lee, Sasori, Kakazu, Zestu, Tsunade, and lots more.

(Shisui may or may not become Yamato/Kakashi level. I’m not sure yet. He’s got the potential, but I’m not there in Shippuden yet.)

I have complicated relationships with lots of characters too, including some of the characters listed above. All of these are to varying degrees. For example, Ino, I’ve got a baby crush on, but I’d be head over heels for Shisui. Although, for someone like Hidan, I’d punch him in the face, but also… like… that dumb fuck could break me in half, and I’d thank him. Meanwhile, I want to scream at Itachi, but I’d also probably get soft if he held me. Anyway, it’s complicated.

Either way, like… everyone in Naruto is objectively really attractive? Like, I would have crushes on everyone, but I don’t think my personality would fit with everyone. For example, I think Gai is really handsome, but I don’t have a crush on him because I feel like he’s too high energy for me, and he’s too positive to work well with me. I just feel like the relationship dynamic wouldn’t be what I’d want it to be because we’re too different, and I don’t think either of us would be happy with the relationship. Doesn’t mean he isn’t a cutie pie who makes me soft.

This is why I want to write for everyone. Like, everyone’s got a thing for Madara, but he’s just not my personal type. Doesn’t mean I don’t see the appeal, though.

Anyway, the above are just characters who I like to various degrees. They’re my personal type. That much is obvious because you can see a lot of similarities in places. Anyway, I like everyone really! Ha ha!

I've seen it in some fics, but jinchuuriki!Sasuke is one of the alternate universes i find so interesting.

Like, an Uchiha (besides Obito) to have the bijuu in them. Dynamics between a Sharingan and a Bijuu. The shouting matches it will cause the elders.

I like to think that Matatabi, The Nibi, would be a good bijuu to give Sasuke.

It's a cat, first of all. The Paw Encyclopedia? and the fact one of the assigned paw prints is from the Two-Tails. He has a lot of relation to cats.

Fire release. Matatabi is a flaming cat. (Blue and black flames that I think, matches Sasuke's aesthethic) Fireballs. Fire Release.

Maybe Sasuke can use his Katon with blue fire??? Like the temperature would be so high??? There's potential there-

They're polite and respectful, which I think is a bonus. They'll definitely be more peaceful with each other, and likes quiet and being in control.

But, like a grumpy Sasuke with cat-like tendencies. And extremely good at hide-and-seek, because of the times he hid from Itachi and Shisui when he was a kid.

Orochimaru stands, pissed himself, scared shitless. The Nibi does not appreciate anyone trying to seal their host.

i think my reason behind shipping two characters is a mix between both canon logic and visuals! but sometimes purely because shipping is super fun! 《《o(≧◇≦)o》》

also idk if you've seen this, naruto can be shipped with almost every character cz he whore he has such amazing relationship with everyone!

i like sasuke x ino, they had the most potential among other sasuke ships beside sns! (not from Sasuke's part,he gay but ino had genuine feelings towards him and it makes me really soft. also they look AMAZING together,sasuino fanarts are my guilty pleasure!)

there are just so many characters in Naruto and many have such interesting dynamics! i love it!

Curious to hear about your favourite ones and if you don't mind, I'd like to know your opinions for the above questions as well!

Do you ship any extreme crack ships? (Same question for other minor or major fandoms)

I’ve been shipping rarepairs since I didn’t even know what shipping was, I just knew that the plausible pairing was boring and I saw more possibilities elsewhere.I’m gonna include also rarepairs cause I ship many of them too. And by rarepair I intend a pairing where the characters met/interacted even just once, or an unpopular pairing or a pairing no one cares about, while by crack ship I intend characters who never met but who, if they did, would be very interesting together. Characters who need alternate timelines, AUs and similar plot devices to meet because in canon one died when the other was too young, and so on…basically what y’all do.   

Naruto

I listed my fave Naruto pairings here, so I’m gonna paste my reasons (do we really need them?) from that link.

ShisuixSasuke

I can proudly say: that’s my crack ship. Here I explained why I am really intrigued by its potential. The non-massacre filler arc had interesting elements, one of those was Shisui training Sasuke. Lots of angst potential, like both loving Itachi and being jealous of the other, and somehow getting close to each other. 

MadaraxSasukeMy second fave rarepair. It’s interesting, dark and hot and bittersweet, sort of, at the same time. Sasuke is pure and easily manipulated when Itachi is mentioned. And he respects strenght, which Madara has plenty of. Also Sasuke is sarcastic and rude, a rebel. Madara is sarcastic and snarky, a rebel too. They both are visionaries, in their own way. ObitoxSasuke

My third, almost second fave rarepair. I find this pairing very intriguing, with a lot of dark potential. I explained it better here. Obito and Sasuke did spend time together so there’s room for imagination. I think that Obito felt some resentment towards Sasuke for Itachi’s death, even though he used him for his plan. And he did tie Sasuke up and watch him as he was unconscious. That part had a lot of tension. It’s easy to imagine Obito doing things to him, or asking Sasuke to do him things, so he would help him. Anyway, Sasuke respects strength and Obito is very strong, and knowledgeable. Part of my “canon behind the screen” pairings (I mean not only he tied him up, he healed him, he also transplanted Itachi’s eyes on him and he stayed around…)

MinatoxItachi It popped into my head out of nowhere after a cute doujinshi where they interacted in a totally non shippy way, and somehow it turned into something else. They both are idealists, both are calm and composed but determined and future oriented. They both sacrificed themselves to protect their precious person, but in doing so they both ruined their lives.

ShikamaruxSasukeBoth are very smart but in different ways. Both are observant and strategic. Both are usually lost in their own thoughts, one in contemplation of clouds and stuff, the other lost in memories and plans and considerations. Both are familiar with revenge. At his best Shikamaru is open-minded, as shown in the way he never had prejudices against N*ruto as a kid. I think in a post-ending setting he might be one of the first to actually talk to him because he knows how it feels to want revenge above everything, among all things, so he shouldn’t be one of those who judge him. At his worst, Shikamaru’s individuality has been brainwashed by Konoha like everyone else, so he might keep an eye on him cause he doesn’t trust him. Which means darker interactions and possibilities. Also his shadow jutsu…

DeidaraxSasuke and here is why

ObitoxItachi Obiita is the new Madaita! Itachi’s Madara is Obito. Obito helped Itachi with the massacre, being his (dark) mentor, sort of. And despite Obito’s devotion and love for Rin, the way Obito talked about Itachi to Sasuke, and the way Itachi talked about “Madara”, suggested a dark master-pupil relationship with some sort of sadistic pet-like affection from Obito’s side, but also real admiration and resentment for Sasuke, the cause of his death. I explained it better here. And it’s part of my “canon behind the screen” pairings (it totally happened, after the massacre, in their Akatsuki days).

(Pairings like Kakasasu, Kakaita, Juusasu, Suisasu are rare but not strange at all, or Kakasaku, Orosasu, it’s all in that link)

Bleach

I pretty much ship Renjixanyone. Or rather, anyonexRenji lol, in a dark sort of way ofc.That doesn’t change. Also dark anyonexUlquiorra, bonus points darkIchigoxUlquiorra or darkIchigoxRenji, or anything involving Shuuhei. but since I also like het Bleach pairings I also like RenjixMomo or RenjixOrihime. Oh and ShuuheixMomo. Or Matsumotoxanyone. My main ship is Byaren but I’m open minded. I once read a 70+ chapters in french, a KenpachixUlquiorra modern/gangster AU where lots of shit happened and not only I didn’t care about the ship but I was only there for the many dark things happened to Ulquiorra by the hands of Aizen and more lol

Psycho Pass

Ok this seems crack/rare/unpopular cause I almost can’t find anything bottom Kougami and it’s such an intriguing dynamic, and also quite plausible if you consider his slave-like state as Enfoncer having to obey to Inspectors…but all I can find is the opposite and ugh. boring. Anyway, GinozaxKougami. I just love it. And I dislike how Ginoza is usually portrayed instead. I’m quite indifferent to Makishima instead, but I woulnd’t refuse some dark MakishimaxKougami.

Noragami

Tbh I mostly like to see Yato in angsty and painful situations lol, I like the canon details of blighting and stinging and his tears for the shinki memories, as I previously said. So since all this is kinda bottom-ish I’d be ok with any pairing as long as these details are there. (it was the same with Saiyuki tbh)

Game of Thrones

Tbh I started shipping in GoT quite late cause I was just enjoying the show. Anyway, I just don’t ship some characters, like Arya (except for meeting Nymeria and going on adventures together). Instead I kinda like Sansa with more than one, like JonxSansa was surprisingly interesting (and I was surprised to see there was a consistent fanbase for them) and I have a soft spot for TheonxSansa, both as characters and even more as a pairing. Oh wait this isn’t a rarepair…well what about Yara GreyjoyxDaenerys lol, and TormundxBrienne, everyone’s into JamiexBrienne but meh. Speaking of Tormund I saw TormundxJon edits and thanks tumblr, now I ship them.
