One of my biggest pet peeves with st is that as someone who grew up in a small town (like 8000 ppl I went to HS with 400 other kids) NANCY SHOULD'VE KNOWN WHO ROBIN WAS IN S3.
Like yea ok maybe they weren't friendly but to not know her at all??? Like they never had a single class together??? That makes zero sense.
Like I promise you I may not have been friends with all those other kids but we knew each other and we knew what everyone was up to.
#i chalk this up to s3 being s3#but if i think about it to hard i get mad#like you're telling me that allegedly Nancy had no idea who Robin was even though Jonathan and Robin's last names both start with B???#and not even Ba and By it's Bu and By#those two have sat next to each other since sixth grade#ALSO you mean to tell me that Barb and Robin were friends but Nancy didn't know Robin????#like it's bullshit#i know i know it was more a what are you doing here but I don't care#BRING BACK SMALL TOWN POLITICS STRANGER THINGS#“old man yells angrily at cloud”#stranger things#nancy wheeler#robin buckley

It all started a week ago. Steve had come along to The Hideout, decked in his darkest polo shirt. It was the first gig he'd come to since him and Eddie had officially- as Robin put it- 'got their shit together'.
Steve had met the band plenty of times already, and while they'd been pretty standoffish at first, he liked to think he got along with them pretty well. Jeff actually shared a similar taste in music (even admitting to liking ABBA because it reminded him of his mother) and he'd known enough about Star Wars and a mix of Dustin's interests to win over Seth. It was harder to read Gareth, but Steve had assumed they were at least acquaintances.
That was until Steve had walked up to the bar where Gareth was talking to some girl, and then Gareth had said the meanest thing imaginable.
"He's my buddy's boyfriend."
Eddie hadn't seen what the big deal was. But Steve understood the importance of befriending your partner's best friend.
Well, back in high school, Steve had never really bothered with his girlfriend's friends. He'd focused on putting in effort with the girls he found attractive, wooing them with flowers and gifts. The girls who he wanted to like him did, he didn't really care how much the other girls didn't. The only job the best friend really had in his mind was picking up the pieces after he left those girls in the dust.
That was all before Nancy, of course. She'd been so adamant about him making an impression on Barb, so he'd tried. He invited her to parties, kept Carol and Tommy off her back, even tried to back her up once or twice when Barb and Nancy were bickering.
And it worked out... kind of. Barb had still rolled her eyes whenever Steve opened his mouth, but she was also the one who pulled him aside and saved him a whole lot of embarrassment and heartache.
"I'm telling you this because I would want to know, and because I guess you're not the worst person in the world. Nancy has been hanging out with Jonathan a lot lately... I just think maybe you should pay a bit more attention to it."
But besides him and Nancy as a couple not working out, he'd realised how important being on good terms with the person you're dating's friends is to being a good boyfriend. Which is why it was integral that he became proper friends with Eddie's best friend.
--
"What are you wearing?"
Steve had just walked into the Munson trailer. He'd spent nearly an hour trying to perfect his hair, so he's mildly offended that his outfit is the first thing his boyfriend noticed. Steve glanced down at his shirt with the huge Green Day logo printed onto it. He wasn't sure why Eddie looked so appalled, it wasn't dirty or anything.
"Oh, Gareth let me borrow it. Cute right?" Eddie's nose scrunched up even further, full on glaring at the offensive item.
"I can't let you into my room with that shirt on."
"Well hopefully once we get to your room neither of us will have our shirts on" Steve chuckled, leaning in for a kiss but Eddie turned his head.
"I'm serious, big boy. The polos and tight jeans, you're whole hot preppy look actually, that all really does it for me and you know it. But this?" He pulled at the fabric of the shirt. "This is the one piece of clothing I never want to see you in."
Steve scoffed. Eddie pushed him gently away with a shake of his head.
"I'm turning off the benefits."
"What benefits?"
"The sex benefits, no more sex until you admit you're not a Green Day fan and we burn that shirt."
"Eddie this is my in with Gareth! He's finally starting to warm up to me." Steve whined. "Besides, you can't just, like, turn off us having sex!"
"Oh yes I can. All I have to do is think about you in this abominable outfit and my boner just-" He whistles, imitating his finger deflating. Steve pouted. He knew rationally he could just give Gareth back the shirt, but that would mean embarrassingly admitting he didn't like Green Day to Gareth and then trying to find another in with him.
So no, Eddie was just being unreasonable.
Anyway, he was totally bluffing about the sex. Steve hoped.
--
"It's been five days Robin! I mean, we haven't gone that long without having sex since.. since we started having sex!" Steve cried, following the woman around as she restocked the shelves. Even though he couldn't see her face he could tell she was rolling her eyes.
It was a serious situation though, at least in Steve's opinion. He and Eddie hung out all the time, and while he obviously enjoyed doing other things with his boyfriend, he wished the other man would at least have the decency to not be so sexy while performing daily tasks. Steve had been this close to jumping him in the frozen food section of the grocery store yesterday.
And he knew he wasn't the only desperate one, Eddie was suffering too. Obviously he'd assumed Steve would cave after a day, because he'd been all jumpy and grouchy for nearly a week. And he kept making that face that Steve recognised all too well whenever Steve did anything even slightly suggestive. Like when he'd bent down to put his laundry in the dryer, and when he turned back around Eddie was beet red and avoiding eye contact.
"Have you tried breaking out the old Harrington seduction techniques yet?" Robin shrugged, obviously not bothered by the fact her best friend was on the verge of death due to lack-of-sex-with-his-really-hot-boyfriend disease.
The thing was, he had tried his old methods. He tried wearing tighter shirts, that strained around his arms and showed off his midriff (but always making sure he was wearing some kind of Green Day memorabilia, because damn him if he wasn't going to be right about this). He'd invited Eddie along to his and Lucas' basketball game. He even tried straight up begging, knowing how much that usually gets Eddie worked up.
And nothing!
Although, there was still one move he hadn't tried yet...
--
"You want to what?" Eddie shot him an incredulous look.
"Help you study, of course. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't help you with your problems? Besides I have this really neat method to help you revise." Steve let himself into the trailer and Eddie's room. He wasn't wearing a Green Day shirt today, but he did have a wristband, something he knew Eddie had spotted already as he walked into the room with his arms crossed.
"Right. And what method would this be?"
"Every time you get an answer right, I take off a item of clothing, and vice versa." Steve plopped himself down on the unmade bed, which he'd missed dearly. Eddie hadn't even let them take naps together in his room, insisting 'spooning almost always leads to sex with you'.
Eddie considered his offer carefully, before nodding with a shit eating grin. Steve cheered internally.
"Great!" Steve smiled before adding "Your rings all count as one item by the way." He tried not to look too smug at the way Eddie's confident grin faltered.
The game reached its boiling point very quick. Eddie had known more about Geography then Steve had expected, which reflected in the fact he only had his boxers and one sock left on. Eddie, however, wasn't doing too much better, sat in only his jeans (and Steve suspected no underwear underneath).
He's not sure who kissed who first, but suddenly Steve was pressed against the mattress, Eddie's thigh between his legs. Excitement coursed through him, his body so receptive to Eddie's touch after so long he wasn't even embarrassed at the noises he was letting out. His hips bucked up, causing Eddie to groan into his mouth.
"So the Green Day thing?" Eddie mumbled between kisses down Steve's neck. The noise Steve made was loud and high pitched, almost drowning out the man's next words. "It's over then?"
Steve paused, the hand that had been trailing down his boyfriend's chest pushed firmly against him as he pulled away.
"Over because you've let it go, right?" He mumbled. Eddie pulled back, his lips red and glossy.
"No, over because you let it go?" Steve huffed, sitting up and pulling his clothes back on. He tugged his jeans on in annoyance, storming out of the bedroom.
"You know what, I'm turning off the benefits now! No sex until you admit Green Day are better than... than Dio!" Steve yelled. He was irritated and extremely worked up but he was also incredibly stubborn. He heard a squawk of protest from behind him as he made his way outside.
"That wasn't even the rule!" Eddie called out, but Steve ignored him. He was not loosing this fight.
--
Listen, Metal music was fine, Steve endured listening to it with Eddie like he endured watching sports games with Steve. He was content in the knowledge that not loving every single one of each other's interest didn't mean they didn't love each other.
Punk was fine too, it still wasn't Steve's thing really, but it was okay and while Steve couldn't tell the difference, according to Gareth there was one. A huge one, if the way he'd been ranting about it for the past hour was anything to go by.
But between fighting with his boyfriend (because it was a genuine fight at this point), not having any sex for nearly two weeks, and being stuck listening to someone talk about something you have no interest in for hours, Steve couldn't take it anymore.
"I don't like punk music! I listen to Queen and Cyndi Lauper and sometimes Madonna and happy music that I can dance to without thinking about America's political landscape!" He blurted out. Gareth stopped his rambling about how Rob Harper was a better drummer than Pete Something, flashing Steve a confused expression.
"Then why were you pretending to?" He asked.
"I... I just didn't want you to just see me as 'Eddie's boyfriend'. I wanted to be your friend and Jeff told me you like punk music so I brought it up and..."
"Look, you are Eddie's boyfriend. Yeah, you're an okay dude, but I can acknowledge that without us having to do the whole friendship thing too, you know?" Gareth shrugged. Steve deflated.
"Right." He said, quickly making an excuse and leaving. Gareth shrugged off the weird feeling the guy's sad puppy dog eyed had given him, grabbing Steve's fries.
He felt kind of embarrassed that he'd been talking for ages with someone who didn't even care. He supposed it was nice of Steve to make the effort, Gareth wasn't aware he'd been trying so hard honestly. Jeff and Seth had warmed up to him pretty quickly but he thought that was just because they were just softies that were no immune to the 'Harrington Charm'.
"Steve?!" A loud yell startled him out of his thoughts.
Eddie stormed into the bar, wearing- holy shit, Gareth felt like he must have hit his head and started hallucinating. This day had taken such a weird turn, because there Eddie Munson stood before him decked out in a 'I heart Green Day' shirt. He also looked like it was taking every ounce of self control not to rip it off his body like it burned.
"Finally come around on the punk scene, Munson?" Gareth chortled. Eddie threw a fry at his face.
"Shut your trap, I need to find Steve before one of the gremlins sees me in this, they're too impressionable." He muttered, taking a seat as he looked around the bar.
"If this is a Steve thing you can stop anyway man, he admitted he doesn't really like them that much. It's kind of weird I mean, who lies about being into something to get someone to like them?"
"Dude, I spent the whole summer eating ice cream as a lactose intolerant person because Steve worked at Scoops Ahoy. He was just trying to find something for you to be friends about." Eddie shot him an unimpressed look, which Gareth thought was a bit high-and-mighty considering he just admitted to basically poisoning himself on a weekly basis for a guy he'd thought was straight at the time.
"Why exactly?"
"I don't know, Steve likes being close to people? He's basically besties with his ex girlfriend, man. Why are you so adamant he can't be yours?" Gareth considered this.
He remembered when Eddie had first told the band he was dating Steve Harrington. They'd all thought he was kidding, but there he was at their next rehearsal, cheering them on and spending his breaks holding Eddie's hand.
Gareth thought maybe it was a joke to Steve. Messing with the guy who likes men by making him think he has a shot with the former prom king. He thought it would end with Eddie in tears, and that had probably made him a bit more defensive than he needed to be. Maybe there was a small part of him, no matter how great Steve seemed, that still believed the guy was setting his best friend up for heartbreak.
"Look, I get that you might have reservations about him. But all I'm saying is- and I've got about a dozen preschoolers and multiple full grown adults that would back me up- Steve Harrington is a pretty great friend to have. So if he offers you friendship, you should take it." Eddie snatched a handful of fries as he got up, leaving Gareth alone at the bar.
--
Steve was half way out the door, wearing nothing but Eddie's Dio vest and grey sweatpants when he saw Eddie. He was standing in front of him, eyeing Steve like a starved man presented with a stake. Steve guessed he probably had a similar look, smiling at the Green Day shirt the man was wearing.
"Oh my god take your pants off." Eddie basically growled, slamming the front door to Steve's house shut as he stalked towards him. He pulled Steve into a ferocious kiss, hands quickly travelling down to his ass.
"Leave the shirt on." Steve gasped out. Eddie let out a muffled groan into his neck. They ran to the bedroom, loosing the vest and both of their pants on the way.
--
"Steve? You home, man?" Gareth heard a loud noise inside, followed by hopping, then Steve opened the door slightly. He was sweaty and shirtless, and his hair was a mess. He'd probably just been working out or whatever jocks did in their spare time.
"Listen, I'm sorry about what I said at the bar. You're a cool guy, I'd like for us to be friends, really. I even thought of something we could bond over; haircare. I've actually been meaning to ask you for some tips anyway." He admitted. Steve beamed, Gareth was almost scared the incredibly sweaty man was about to pull him into a hug. He didn't, he just kept smiling.
"That's real nice for you two, maybe next he'll ask you to prom!" Eddie's voice rang out from somewhere behind the door. Steve flushed a little and hushed him. Gareth was kind of confused as to why Eddie voice sounded so coarse and breathless, he didn't think Eddie had ever voluntarily exercised in his life.
"I would really like that, Gareth. I'll tell you everything you need to know, come by anytime. Except right now." He smiled again before slamming the door. Gareth heard more noises inside, wondering what the fuck they were up to until he heard a loud moan. Oh God, Gareth started running.
Still, he couldn't help but smile. It was always nice to make more friends.

Nancy was grateful to Robin and to Dustin for pushing her and Steve back together. It gave them the chance to see and feel what it was like without the weight of Barb's death hanging over them like a storm cloud. It also made Nancy realize that she had actually loved Steve and probably always would. She hadn't stayed with him out of some weird sense of duty to Barb because she felt like she had owed it to her because her best friend had died that night. She had stayed with Steve because she had wanted to. After coming together beneath the sheets, they both got the closure they needed, especially afterward when they jumped fully clothed into the very pool that Barb had died in.
"It's not our fault," Nancy had gasped for air as she resurfaced.
"No, we just wanted to be together," Steve said.
They floated on their backs for a while, staring up at the inky night sky. The stars twinkled down on them knowingly. Nancy just stared back at them and swam over to Steve, kissing him. Their relationship ended two weeks later, just after a threesome with Jonathan. It had left Nancy feeling a little wanting as Jonathan and Steve had mostly focused on each other, but it was good. Even though Nancy had already broken up with Jonathan, it had felt like the perfect goodbye to her relationship with both of them. Although she'd miss having sex with them, especially Steve. He was always really good at that.
"Maybe we could find the perfect partners that would let us sleep together once a year," Steve had joked.
"My ex-boyfriends certainly looked good together," Nancy had smirked when Steve blushed.
Meanwhile, Robin had gone back to hanging out with all three of them since it wouldn't be her third wheeling anymore. They listened as she complained about the fact that Vickie's parents had dragged her out of town.
"And right before we could kiss too. . .how cruel was that? Vickie had just gotten up the courage to tell me she liked women and that she liked me. . .months, I have spent hanging out with her as friends when her parents announced they were moving," Robin rambled. "She clearly wanted to kiss me, but she didn't want to do it in front of her parents. I am never going to get my first kiss. I guess I'll just become a nun."
"Yeah, right," Steve and Nancy said.
"I really liked Vickie," she said softly.
Robin was currently laying upside down on the couch, her head hanging over the side. Her light brown, almost blonde hair was brushing against the carpet. A ray of sunlight danced across her face, accentuating her blue eyes. The light didn't bother Robin? Nancy stared at her, mesmerized by her freckles and then suddenly her lips. What was that about?
"You're going to find someone, Robin. You'd be surprised how many secretly queer people there are in this town," Steve said.
"Yeah, that's true. I mean, I always thought you were straight, but then it turns out that my own best friend also likes boys!" Robin said.
"Surprise," Steve grinned and Nancy laughed.
"Fuck off," Robin said affectionately.
"Maybe like Steve, a lot of them aren't aware that they're like you yet," Nancy said.
Robin's eyes moved to stare at her. Nancy swallowed as Robin looked as though she were studying her. She felt a fluttering in her chest, and her stomach grew warm as she gazed back into Robin's eyes. What is this? Had Nancy just inadvertently talked about herself just then?
"Maybe," Robin said softly.
"I'm going to get a drink. Does anyone want anything?" Steve asked.
"I do! Get me a root beer," Robin said. "Please, and thank you."
"Uh, I'll help you," Nancy said.
"Ha! Nancy thinks you're incapable of carrying two things of drinks," Robin laughed.
"Fuck off, Robin," Steve said with the same amount of affection that she had used earlier.
Nancy followed him into the kitchen and watched as he tried to decide what drink he wanted for himself. She boosted herself up onto the island.
"Steve?" Nancy asked.
"Yeah?" Steve asked as he closed the fridge and turned around.
"I think I like Robin," Nancy said.
"As in. . .?" Steve asked with raised eyebrows.
"Romantically," she said.
"Oh! That's so great!" Steve exclaimed. "I didn't think you were into women."
"Yeah, me neither. Although, I don't think I necessarily care about what gender a person is," Nancy shrugged. "I don't know. . .it kind of just hit me when I was watching her talk. Do you really think this is great? I mean, I'm your ex and she's your best friend."
"Did it bother you when I stole Jonathan?" Steve asked.
"You did not steal Jonathan," she laughed. "And no, it doesn't bother me."
"Look, Nancy, we got to end things differently this time. . .we got to end it on our terms with no bitter feelings. We both know now that we do love each other but that it's not enough. We got the closure we both needed. I'm happy with Jonathan, and I think you're going to be happy with Robin. She's so great and so are you. You both deserve this," Steve said.
"I love you," Nancy said.
"I love you too," Steve said and pressed a hard kiss to her forehead before helping her off the counter. "I'm just going to hang out in the kitchen."
"I swear if you slap my ass and tell me to go get 'em tiger, I will shoot you," Nancy scoffed.
"I wasn't - okay, am I really that predictable?" Steve asked.
Nancy laughed. She grabbed a root beer from the fridge and a coke for herself just as they heard the front door open. A moment later, Jonathan entered the kitchen. Steve beamed and eagerly greeted him with a kiss.
"Well, it looks like you have something to do other than hang out in the kitchen," Nancy teased.
"Don't you have something you should he doing?" Steve asked.
"Did I miss something?" Jonathan asked.
Nancy laughed again and left the kitchen. She entered the living room, causing Robin to sit up immediately. The suddenness of it caused her hair to flop messily over her head. Robin quickly fixed it before Nancy handed her the soda. She sat down right next to Robin.
"What happened to Steve?" Robin asked.
"Jonathan is here," Nancy replied.
"Okay, so I guess we're never seeing him again," Robin said.
"Yeah, they're probably going to be kissing," Nancy said teasingly.
"Nancy! You know how sensitive I am," Robin said and hit her with a pillow.
Nancy watched her as she opened the root beer and took a drink. She watched as she tilted her head back slightly, exposing her throat as she swallowed. Robin let out a refreshing gasp as she pulled the can back. Nancy's eyes followed her tongue as it wiped away the soda on her lip. Suddenly, Robin let out a belch, breaking Nancy's trance. She giggled.
"So, what upset you more: the fact that you didn't get to kiss Vickie or that you didn't get to kiss a girl?" Nancy asked.
"Well, both are equally disappointing," Robin said.
"You want to know what kissing a girl is like? What her lips feel like against yours?" Nancy asked.
"At this point, I think any willing girl will do," Robin said with a sigh.
Nancy smiled and turned Robin's face towards her. She leaned forward and captured Robin's lips with hers. She smiled when she felt Robin gasp in surprise, but it falterd when Robin didn't kiss her back at first. Then, suddenly, Robin was cupping the back of her head and returning the kiss quite eagerly. Nancy wrapped her arms around Robin and deepened the kiss. Robin pulled back with a gasp, her hands gripping Nancy's waist.
"What was that?" Robin asked.
"That was called kissing," Nancy said.
"Hilarious. No, I mean, you're not like, just throwing me a bone here, are you?" Robin asked.
"I like you," Nancy said sweetly.
"I, uh, like you too," Robin said, blushing. "Even if I ramble?"
"I like the rambling. . . I just hope that you don't think I'm being so forward so soon after Vickie," Nancy said.
"No, just forward enough, I think," Robin said. "I mean, Vickie and I never really went anywhere."
"I'm sorry that she sort of got yanked out your life before you could find out if it would have gone anywhere," Nancy said. "I really did like her. She was nice and I have to say that she surprised me when everything went down."
"She fought like hell. I suppose that's why her parents decided to get her out of here," Robin said and paused. "Thank you for acknowledging Vickie. You're very sweet."
"So, are you, but I'm not always sweet. . .I can be mean if you want me to be," Nancy said.
"Nancy Wheeler, are you flirting with me?" Robin asked.
"Maybe a little," she grinned.
Robin leaned in to kiss her again when she gasped and pulled back.
"Steve!" Robin exclaimed.
"I'm Nancy," she said slowly.
"Hahaha! You're cute and funny. I get it. No, but what about Steve?" Robin asked.
"He's alright with this. I talked about it with Steve. We're good. Besides, he stole my boyfriend so we're even," Nancy said, and they laughed. "Do you really need to ask him?"
"No, I trust you when you said that he's okay with this, but you shouldn't be surprised. . .me and Steve are terribly codependent," Robin said.
"I might have picked up on that," Nancy said in amusement.
"I just want you to be prepared. We will literally call each other and debate with each other about what we're going to have for breakfast. I'm his mole cancer checker, and he literally looks for lumps. I make sure his hair isn't receding, and he reminds me to take my vitamins. We also check under our beds for monsters. We also have frequent sleepovers," Robin said. "Scared yet?"
"Nothing is going to scare me off, and all of that actually is very cute. Steve is very much a part of my life, too, and what happened between us recently. . .it made us realize that nothing is ever going to change that," Nancy said and paused. "Do you and Steve braid each other's hair?"
"Ugh, he does mine, but he refuses to grow out his hair for me to do his," Robin said. "Maybe now that you're my girlfriend, we can attack him from both sides."
"Am I?" She asked.
"What?"
"Your girlfriend?" Nancy asked.
"Uh, yeah, I mean, if you want," Robin said.
"I would like that," Nancy said and kissed her.
Robin squealed and pushed her against the cushions. Nancy laughed against her lips.
"Nancy Wheeler is my girlfriend!"
Two weeks later. . .
The front door to Steve’s house burst open, startling the casual double date that was occurring in the living room. Eddie stormed into the room with Chrissy trailing behind him. Robin had her head in Nancy's lap while Steve laid in between Jonathan's leg. The TV was on.
"Was anyone else other than Dustin going to tell me that we could come out of hiding?" Eddie asked.
"Oh. . .were you in hiding? I thought you moved out of town," Steve said.
"Yes! . . . Wait, did everyone think that?" Eddie asked.
"Yeah," Robin said.
"What's going on here?" Chrissy asked with a grin.
"This looks. . .okay, when we left Byers was dating Wheeler and Buckley was pining over a redhead," Eddie said. "And Harrington was pining over Wheeler."
"You would think that after everything we went through, he'd remember our first names," Steve muttered, and Jonathan laughed.
"He calls me Cunningham, and I'm his girlfriend," Chrissy laughed.
"Well, Jonathan broke up with Nancy, Nancy got with Steve, then Steve and Nancy broke up. Vickie moved away now, Jonathan is dating Steve, and I'm dating Nancy," Robin said.
"Jesus, the next thing you're going to tell me is that Jeff is dating Argyle," Eddie said.
"Jesus, that is a good fucking guess," Jonathan whispered.
"What?!"

Ronance headcanons?
oh my goodness of course i do hehehehe (if you cant tell I love them)
i am ignoring the canon plot and using the bits that are convenient to me because I do what I want
Before Robin realized she liked Nancy, she truly didn't understand the deep level of fury she felt against Jonathan. It made no sense because they were friends and she had so much fun with him! Except whenever him and Nancy were together suddenly she had the urge to rip her hair out
Nancy figured her feelings out before Robin did. I know this is controversial and I do agree Robin fell first Nancy fell harder. However, I think the fear of falling for someone who she loves and cares for very much who if Nancy finds out Robin could lose her both from being a lesbian and for being in love with her, just manifests in denial. This is also compounded by the fact that she's convinced she likes Vickie who conveniently is out of reach and (presumed) straight, so if Vickie wasn't into her she wouldn't be risking as much since she's not planning to confess in the first place
Nancy on the other hand very quickly figured it out. After losing Barb, her fear manifested less in denial and more as an overdrive of all her emotions because if she doesn't figure it out quickly she might lose Robin before she could even say a word, so the moment she falls she figured it out then and there. She doesn't want another situation where she didn't tell a person she loves how much they mean to her
that night she had a panic attack that was BRUTAL like she sobbed for hours realizing she's probably going to have to choose between being true to herself and a relationship with her parents. she already knew she liked girls, she figured it out after barb's death, but liking someone new felt so tangible. robin heard her crying and didn't ask, just sat with her for the rest of the night tracing her thumb in circles on her palm
A fluffier one: Nancy plans to confess but Robin does it before she does on accident. Like she's just talking about journalism and how much she enjoys investigative journalism and Robin is just like "I'm in love with you." My assumption is that Robin had already come out to her beforehand but she was just horrified. Nancy was shocked but then was like "you beat me to it <3"
Nancy had not come out to Robin yet, she was planning to do it with her confession, and she had already talked to Eddie (platonic soulmates edancy lover till I die) and talked to Steve so she was prepared but Robin was just FLABBERGASTED
this girl has the most godawful gaydar known to mankind so despite nancy staring at her with heart eyes on a daily basis she was in shock
hAND KISSES I WILL NOT STOP WITH THE NANCY GIVING HAND KISSES HC
wrist kisses too her favorite thing to do is hold robin's fingers or pulse against her lips and just feel her warmth
robin is really warm, unreasonably so, and nancy is really cold
they both love shoving their noses into each others neck and just breathing in each others smells
robin loves rubbing the fact that she's dating nancy fucking wheeler into people's faces
"you're better at me then this???? well I pulled nancy wheeler stevie!! and I actually kept her unlike you so shut up"
her and eddie are constantly at war at who her favorite person is
"you already have stevie this is MY emotional support comphet fruit"
robin hangs over her shoulders while she writes and just reads her words
there was a solid bit of time that robin thought eddie and nancy were together. she accidentally asked them and triggered the longest giggle battle she has ever seen seen
bisexual nancy or lesbian nancy, she's filled with so much comphet
fully convinced that romantic feelings for guys and platonic feelings for girls felt the same
sometimes she feels guilty and feels like she's 'replacing' barb but the feeling lessens by the day
robin gets anxiety attacks every once in a while and nancy knowing exactly what to do when it happens really calms her down. like it reminds her that the person she loves is the most capable ever
robin loves nuzzling herself into nancy's stomach because cold and nice
poor, poor steve. the amount of rants he's heard from both sides
"nancy is so amazing and cool!" "robin is so pretty when she talks <3"

Here to say that it wasn't "out of character" for Robin to be nice to Nancy...
Why the fuck should she have been mean to Nancy?
Like, if Nancy was some evil bitch who abused Steve, I would have understood that.
But she's not!!!
The only bad thing Nancy did was vent out to Steve as DRUNK about Barb's death.
Her words were harmful, yeah, but maybe you kind of forgot (or just chose to ignore) that she had to sopport her best friend's death, and all the conseguences that brought, for nearly a year, and it's not like Steve did much to help her recover, aside from telling her to soppress her emotions (worst advice to give to a person with untreated PTSD).
Robin had no reason to be mean or something to Nancy.
And she also has no reason to be mean to Jonathan.
Like, Jonathan did a bad thing, taking that topless photo of Nancy (and I agree it should have been adressed), but he supported Nancy way better than Steve ever did.
And also, he hasn't done anything bad to Steve, aside from the fight (which yeah, Jonathan started, but Steve is the one who mocked him, his mom and his missing brother, in a very homophobic way), so there's literally NO reason for Robin to be mean to either Nancy or Jonathan.
What I want to say with this?
Stop treating Robin only as an extention to Steve, 'cause she's fucking not!!!!!
She's an indepent character, who shouldn't and WOULD NEVER base her entire life choices and motives around a man!!!!!!
And also stop shipping Stancy, if you clearly dislike Nancy this much!!!!!
robin canonically holds grudges. she spent years hating on steve because the girl she had a crush on, had a crush on steve and apparently steve spills crumbs all over the floor. what a dingus!
i don't know if you count rebel robin as canon, but in rebel robin it is mentioned that barb ditched her for nancy. ta da! a reason unrelated to steve!
anyways, when i said i wanted robin to be mean to nancy at first, i don't mean she should kill her at sight. it would have been better for nancy to try to be her friend instead. it would have been better to see nancy trying for once.
also, didn't you ever hold a grudge on behalf of your friend? didn't you ever want to just kick someone's ass because they hurt your friend? this isn't about making robin an extension to steve, this is about friendship.
i don't know about you but i would definitely side-eye the people who hurt my best friend.
that PTSD wasn't only happening to nancy. just because they had different ways of dealing with their trauma doesn't mean one of them is better than the other. steve was worried about not only his parents but also about nancy and her family as well. him wanting to try and move on does not make him a bad person.
ignoring the jonathan part bc i really couldn't care less about him. the reasons for robin to be mean to jonathan is stated above anyways.
she WOULD NEVER base her entire life choices around a man??? literally when did i ever say anything about her life should be revolving around steve?
steve and robin are best friends. im really worried about you not knowing what a good friendship is. friends talk, make plans, and consider each other in every situation. in stobin's case, robin has a monologue about wanting to combine with steve bc she thinks they're better together. go off and make this about something that isn't. that's what you do best.
just because i view nancy differently, doesn't mean i dislike her.
i don't ship stancy. i will however support them if they will end up together. what's important to me is steve's happiness.
that being said, i will ship whatever i want, that's none of your business.

Hi, haven't posted in a hot second, but my drafts are full of unfinished essays im writing so I got that goin' ejhdskhdak
Anyway, Ronance in different universes!!
The most obvious one, let's get it out of the way. Lumity! I mean come on! The "little miss perfect" character and an "obviously neurodivergent outcast sweetheart with a heart of gold" character??? They both start out not liking each other, specifically on the Nancy/Amity side, but then Robin/Luz wins them over by being their themself. Also the fact I've noticed their respective styles are very similar, the way they react to things is very similar. Barb is Willow and Hunter is Steve.
Daphne and Velma! Admittedly I don't have as much of a strong point on these as I have with Lumity, mainly because I haven't consumed that much Scoody Doo content in the recent years (I really wanna get into it, but I don't have the time). Idk, again, as I said, not much of a strong argument here, my friend and I were talking about a Scooby Doo AU and Daphne fits Nancy and Velma fits Robin within that context bsdjahi.
Caitvi/Piltover's finest! LET ME TELL YOU BECAUSE I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS! Vi is definetly more season 3 Robin than season 4, BUT THAT MAKES IT EVEN BETTER! S3 Ronance is so fun and it has a special place in my heart (specifically because I did start shipping Ronance in s3). For Nancy and Caitlyn it's somewhat obvious? Both upper class women who are viewed by both their parents and society as pretty, uptight, not having any experience with the real world, prisses, but are in fact much more than that and both of them know how to shoot guns. I am also attracted to both of them ahdskjn. Vi and Robin are both snarky and sarcastic little shits (affectionate). Also coming back to the whole didn't like each other in the beginning thing.
The Mothership! I mean... this one's pretty obvious
Simmosa, I miss them so much. The point that applies to all of these is that "the Nancy one" didn't like "the Robin one". Same goes with this ship, Amy did not like Jonah and his ramblings in the beginning, but then later on fell in love with him for it aksdhjsa Jonah rambles, like a lot, he might give Robin a run for her money with how much he actually rambles, he also gets really flustered around Amy and they are just overall always together, no matter if Amy doesn't like him or not and same goes with Nancy and Robin.
Yulivia, as my friend said "just a tall, loud impulsive girl and the girl who makes sure she doesn't get them killed" which... accurate. Also Lady Olivia with a gun, pew pew!
and the last one, my favorite
Emisue!!!!! Now listen, is this projection? Maybe, maybe it is, maybe it isn't, we shall never know. BUT THEY ARE SO THEM!!! The potential is astronomical!! Ok let's start with the obvious basics, Emily and Robin are "the talkers", while Sue and Nancy are "the listeners". Emily's brother Austin is in love with Sue, they are together. Emily feels guilty that she is in love with his brother's wife, but her feelings for Sue are stronger, however she feels an insane amount of guilt and we see that throughout the show, all of this just reminds me of Steve, Robin and Nancy (that being said, why isn't anyone doing anything about that?? Write a fic like that asap and send it to me/hj). Sue/Nancy has tried to push Emily/Robin away, but they just couldn't, because they always in some way found their way back to each other (putting that in quotes for Ronance because they are not canonically together). Suppression of emotions, not just romantic, but any, is both a very prominent trait in both Sue and Nancy. And I could go on and on about how both Sue and Nancy's trauma is overlooked and she's seen as a bitch by many, while Emily and Robin get away with a lot more, but I digress.
That was it! I'm sure there's more, these are just my favourites!

I just saw a post a couple of days ago that Steve stans are too dramtic about the Stancy breakup and that he wasn't traumatised by the bathroom scene and that he wouldn't flinch when he hears the word "bullshit" because Nancy is a loving character who wouldn't purposefully hurt people. And I'm like okay? Well he has every right to be hurt or even a little traumatised. Imagine being accused of murder by your own girlfriend and then in the next sentence she tells you she doesn't even love you while you're head over heels for her. Also in s3 he kinda internalized the word bullshit for him when talking to Robin in the Russian base. Like he genuinely believes he and his actions were bullshit. And idk if he would get a new partner and they would fight, I'm sorry him having flashbacks to when Nancy dropped those bombs on him is understandable. But yeah only Nancy's is allowed to be traumatised in that relationship because Steve was the worst, he never listened. When actually the scene they are talking about is the one where Nancy said she wants to break the NDA and Steve's like stop no that's dangerous. God forbid he wanted to keep her safe and not let her do something stupid. But the way ppl use this and say here he dismissed her feelings and pushed her to go to the party is crazy. Especially before that she wanted to go so badly she even invited Jonathan and she and Steve had couples costumes planned. If you think Steve would have forced her to go, he wouldn't if she truly didn't want to. That's like the only scene we got with a glimpse of their problem in the relationship. Just because he shut the idea down to talk about Barb with Barb's parents doesn’t mean he's super dismissive of her feelings. And tbh I feel like Nancy always blamed him (and herself) for the death of her friend, every time they would talk about it she would say it between the lines subconsciously, ofc Steve didn't want to hear it. It's insane that he isn't allowed to cope in a different way with this trauma than Nancy.
it’s wild that people say that steve stans are too dramatic when it’s a breakup like it’s supposed to be emotional. A breakup is devastating no matter how it ends and this just just ended so badly that it is emotional. also like no matter if it wasn’t purposefully nancy still decided to hurt steve and then never actually make up for the hurt that she caused him. there wasn’t even a sorry or anything so it’s just exhausting how people just want to paint nancy as completely right. and yes like steve has every right to feel upset about it (one time i read a fic where the author just used a character to shame steve for being upset about that whole talk in the bathroom and thinking about it just makes me want to scream) and it just feels like they complain about steve people not understanding steve while the antis also rip away the fact that he’s a character who has feelings. JUST LET HIM HAVE SOME FEELINGS! and also it’s so bizarre because like i said breakups are hard and yet they’re constantly acting like it’s sooo insane for steve to feel hurt after the breakup.
anyway yeah about steve internalizing it in season 3 because he does and it’s very clear that he has internalized that he was bullshit that nancy told him. because the duffers not long after steve admitting that everything was bullshit to robin - they have a question where steve does bring up nancy and it’s about love. like it’s all right there falling into place. and it’s also fucked up that people just don’t want steve to be upset when there is a whole bunch to this. steve gave up his friends and popularity - and while yes it was for himself it was also partly something to do with nancy. so steve gives up everything that he’s ever known to be with nancy all to realize that nancy never loved him in the first place and that steve would never be enough for her. that’s just - it’s sooo damaging !!
oh he would soo have flashbacks to that moment if him and his new partner fought! absolutely though like people only act like nancy is allowed to be traumatized and it’s so fucked up! i am so glad that you brought up the NDAS because god i have a rant rn that i need to get out. in this scene steve is just trying to be protective over the people he cares about and people act like steve is somehow wrong for being afraid of the gov that stole children from their homes to use them as experiments, bugged people’s homes, put a Will dummy in the water to make it look like he died, and threatened everyone with the fact that they could kill the people they love. yet somehow steve’s genuine fear of these people is just pushed to the side in the whole stancy thing because people cannot think for one second how scary this would be. on top of that : i’m so sorry and i understand why nancy would want to tell barb’s parents but if the two (mainly nancy) of them had actually told - barb’s parents would have been furious because all they would’ve seen was two people using their missing daughter as a weapon/prank. because it is not normal to say that barb got eaten up a demogorgon/monster. they probs would’ve gotten throw into pennhurst or some shit like that. there is no way in hell that barb’s parents would’ve believed them about the truth and there’s even more evidence because in canon they even used a cover story of how barb died all because murray said something. which wild to me how steve has just been saying and worried over the exact same shit but when murray does it, it’s taken soooo much more seriously in canon and by the fandom.
Okay but you’re so right about that party! i hate how people say that he just forced her to go meanwhile in the scenes right before nancy showed genuine enthusiasm to going! and she even complained about how jonathan didn’t want to go! nancy wanted to go and invite jonathan and did everything in her power to persuade him to go - that doesn’t sound like someone being forced to go to a party because their boyfriend is going. yep yep yep just because he shut down the talk of her telling barb’s parents the whole truth - it doesn’t mean that he’s dismissive of how she feels. in fact he’s doing everything in his power to take care of her feelings and show support in how he feels. but good forbid he shut down talk of them saying something that could get everyone he loves killed- that somehow must mean he doesn’t care about nancy’s feelings. it’s just so fucking absurd atp.
yeah i’ve always seen nancy as blaming herself and steve for barb’s death. oh god yes about that last sentence!!!! it’s also absurd because people always defend the way in which nancy copes and they never want it to be criticized yet somehow when we (steve stan’s mainly) say that steve is coping differently and that he’s just trying his best: we get blamed to hell and back for making excuses for him. it’s just ahhh : they’re both traumatized teens but god forbid they cope in different ways
this got hella long but i love talking about this and you said a lot that i agree with and wanted to expand on

My Opinions on the Stranger Things Ships
No one asked me of course but we all share opinions that no one asked for lol. So I'll be sharing my quick thoughts on ships that I see people mention. Everyone's opinions are valid I just may not agree and you don't have to agree with me. I said what I said and I will not be arguing about it.
I'm not going to be rude to anyone and if you are rude while sharing your opinions, I will block you. Simple.
This isn't in any particular order except going from adults-teens-main party.
Adults
Jopper (Joyce and Hopper) - They're fine lol. I like them. In the first season, I don't think I thought much about it. It wasn't really until maybe season 3 but I thought Hopper was being really yelly and mean. But her thinking he died and then their reunion in S4 was really sweet. Them kissing and all that, I was like yeah, I think this is a natural progression.
Older Teens
Stancy (Steve and Nancy)- I thought they were okay early on except for when he got mad without talking to her and letting his friends slut shame her publicly. But I think them breaking up was a natural progression because Nancy and Jonathan had chemistry and it seemed like they were gonna lead into that anyway. In S4, they're really trying to push on us that they might be thinking of each other, Steve particularly, especially since Eddie was like blatantly telling him that that's true love lol. I don't think they need to get back together.
Jancy (Jonathan and Nancy)- I like them fine. What he did in S1 was creepy and personally I can't say I'd even talk to him after that. But they did kind of trauma bond so sure I guess. I don't mind them. But at this point, if they break up, Nancy needs to just go off to college and be bad ass. I know Hawkins is basically split open but whose to say that stuff will happen now or that Vecna will wait while he heals (maybe Eddie can return?? *Cries*). I think there should be a time jump anyway, so if that's the case, Nancy should be single. Maybe she met some other young man while in college.
Vobin? Ribickie? (Robin and Vickie)- I wish we got to see more of them interacting but I want Robin to get her girl lol. Their scene at the end of S4 was cute and I hope that if Vicky/Vickie shows up again that they're together. Maybe not publicly but for each other, together. Or I want Robin to be with someone she loves and loves her.
Ronance/Steddie (Robin and Nancy/Steve and Eddie)- These are fan ships. I personally didn't read them as couples and it's fine if you did. For Robin and Nancy, I liked that they seemed to become friends after that bit of major awkwardness in the beginning. Nancy hasn't had a close girl friend since Barb was murdered (that she still feels guilty about and I even thought that Nancy might be feeling super protective of Robin and Max) and Robin may not have many friends in general. So that's what I was thinking. As for Steve and Eddie, meh lol, I'm not the biggest Steve fan so... I'm indifferent but idk if I think that Eddie would be with Steve if he chose to date a guy. Some of the fan comics are really cute though. The one where Eddie works at the renaissance fair is cute lol.
Hellcheer/Edissy (Eddie and Chrissy)- They were cute and I'm mad we didn't get more of them. Joe and Grace had natural chemistry and that scene in the forest was a masterclass at introducing new characters to fall in love with in 3 minutes. I was unsure about both of them, Eddie more than Chrissy but that scene made me like them both. I was distraught with her death and then with his later (also for other reasons). I feel like if they got to live, they would have became easy friends. Even if it wasn't romantic, which I'm fine with that too, I just wanted them to have more scenes together.
The Main Party.
Byler (Will and Mike)- So I’m not gonna touch on this too much for the sake of arguments. At this point, it's clear that Will has feelings for Mike but there hasn’t been anything to me that shows that Mike knows or feels the same. I think a lot of posts for this ship have been extremely dishonest and manipulative of scenes and situations. I think it’s weird. You don’t need to do that for your ship. You see something that others don’t and that’s fine but I find that the people become the problem with this ship than the ship itself. You don't have to make it seem like Will reacted to Mike telling Eleven that his life started the day he found her in the woods when that screenshot wasn't from that part AND Will disappeared the day before. That's dishonest. Also seems to me that y'all want Mike to say and do the things he does for El for Will but are mad when he does it for El and say that he's lying to her? Wouldn't that be fucked up that he's lying to El, with his acts of service, with his clear emotions because he suddenly decides that he loved Will all this time? That's fucked up to me. That's all.
ElMax (Eleven and Max)- I've only seen this a few times and I think it's cute when people talk about it lol, but I also view this as a friendship. They became friends in S3 and while we don't really know if they contacted each other much during the time between S3 and S4, I think they love for each other is there and I love that in their party of boys, they have each other to lean on. Even if I found Max to be annoying and overbearing in S3.
Dusuzie? (Dustin and Suzie)- We haven't seen them interact in person but I think they're so sweet. The Neverending Story sequence is easily Top 10. I like that Dustin found someone who is just as smart and nerdy as he is but they're both cool in their own right. I hope in S5 that we get to see them actually be together more.
Lumax (Lucas and Max)- I've liked them enough as they grew closer in S2. I thought it was clear pretty early that Max was gonna choose Lucas. While we didn't get to see them be boyfriend and girlfriend that much in S3, what we did see was cute and funny. The first episode was great stuff with them. In S4, we get a more serious and emotional Lumax and while they're not together, you can tell that Lucas still cares for her and that's she's trying not to show she cares. This is shown in Dear Billy and how he doesn't leave her side from then on (sounds familiar hmm *glances at Mileven*). He saved her knowing her favorite song and then to tell her that he also loves Kate Bush now for saving her... top tier boyfriend material. Then in the finale episode, just the way he's trying to protect her but also allow her to try and go through with her plan. Ugh, it's just so good. Caleb and Sadie also have so much chemistry. I watch interviews with them and they just work really well together. I really hope that if Max wakes up in S5 (since they didn't kill her the way I think they just should have), that she and Lucas get to talk and grow together and if it's a time jump like I want, that they'll either be together or still be close. If they officially break up again, I think it'll still be a very good and amicable break up. But otherwise, top tier couple.
Mileven (Mike and Eleven)- I really could go on and on but I'll try not to. They have been our main couple and our main characters since S1. I know Mike has been sidelined a lot and I don't like it but that doesn't negate that he's technically the lead boy on the show. Anyway, they met each other the first time and Mike immediately was taken with her, this is clear when the camera panned from Eleven to the boys and then zoomed in on Mike's face. It was clear to me at least. Love at first sight even if it had to develop over time. Mike goes into caregiver mode and literally does everything he can to keep her safe and make her comfortable. He shows her his toys and everything lol. In S2, this boy called her every day because he was sure she didn't die and it was his plan to lure the demodogs so that Eleven and Hopper could get in to close the gate. Now in S3, he's afraid of losing her, afraid of being apart from her and yeah they totally get too attached at the hip which was something they had to learn (though let's not forget that Hopper threatened him leading to the decisions he makes in the beginning). But he's attentive to her regardless and he's trying to be so protective because while everyone is okay and pushing her to find the Flayed, he's the only one worried about her pushing herself too hard, "I love her and I can't lose her again!" Like come on. He was always the first into action, when Billy attacks Eleven, he goes in with a pipe (while everyone else just stood there), and then later when the Mind Flayer attacked them in the cabin, he was the first one to try and save El when it grabbed her leg. He even ran at Billy when he attacked, Max, Mike and Eleven in the mall. Then one of my fave scenes is the one in the store when he's trying to tell her that he loves her but he's babbling and can't get out (this is a character trait as he did the same thing in S1 and then later in S4 in the pizza place). He reassured Eleven that her powers will come back at some point. Then this boy spends the entire S4 dealing with his own insecurities which we FINALLY get to see him talk about with someone (but ya know he's actually lying and talking about Will)... then we get his confession and regardless if you found it cheesy or not, I felt that shit and so did he and Eleven. At this point, whether or not they last as adults, they are endgame for the show.
But these are just my thoughts on the ships I see people talk about. I'm not gonna argue about them either. I'm too old for that shit lol.

steve and nancy for the character ask!!!
thank you zoe !!!!
steve 💖💖💖
favorite thing about them: oh where to even begin 🥴🥴 i think i really like how willing he is to help people and to protect the people he cares about most and i think this is something that's always been an inherent part of his character since the beginning of s1. also i love that he's a little dumb <3
least favorite thing about him: um he has been and can be a lil mean not in a horrible way but he was the capacity to be a dick but also that just might be him being a teenage boy but i'm sensitive
favorite line: "hey dickheads how come the only one helping me out is this random girl" this is just so funny and joe's delivery is honestly perfect jskeks or when he says to nancy "tell me about it" bc AAAHHHH
brotp: him and robin bc it's mlm wlw solidarity
otp: stonathan bc gay rights and enemies to lovers
notp: harringr*ve bc im not an idiot
random headcanon: i've mentioned this before i think that when steve figures out what he wants to do w his life he becomes a teacher bc he realizes he likes spending time w kids and i think bc he has such a strained relationship w his own parents he'd like to be the role model for kids that he probably didn't have. and he would definitely want to make school more enjoyable and less stressful for students and try to cater to all his students needs. also one might think he'd be a gym teacher but i feel like he'd teach history.
unpopular opinion: um idk how popular or unpopular this is but i think steve was totally justified in ripped up jonathan's photos and really even breaking his camera. don't get me wrong i love jonathan but he crossed a serious line and that was a huge violation of privacy and trust. if i found out some guy was hiding in the bushes behind my house and took pics of me and my girlfriend as were about to have sex i'd feel incredibly upset and violated. also i HATE the idea that steve would ever be a cop
song i associate with them: i melt with you by modern english or boys don't cry by the cure
favorite picture of them: hard to choose bc he's just that sexy but here's one
nancy 😌💘
favorite thing about them: her determination to get things done and her dedication to getting justice in whatever she's doing
favorite line: "My mom was young. My dad was older, but he had a cushy job, money, came from a good family. So they bought a nice house at the end of the cul-de-sac and started their nuclear family... yeah screw that" bc feminism
brotp: nancy isn't really shown w many friends ajwksjjs but i guess maybe her and mike ? i do want to see more of their dynamic as friends and siblings. OH WAIT jwjsjs i forgot abt barb. well barb was boring and barely a character LMAO
otp: i like jancy but also i think they need to communicate better. also kinda holding out for ronance to happen 😌❤️
notp: um stancy maybe ? idk. oh wait i love the monster hunting trio but i'm not a fan of romantic stoncy 💔
random headcanon: i don't think nancy wants to get married or have kids. i think she's been very affected by seeing the relationship between her own parents and so she would want to avoid becoming that as much as she can. she obviously wants love in her life i just think she's weary of the institution of marriage
unpopular opinion: i LOVE nancy !!! i really do love her and i think she's great ! i know lots of people dislike her or find her annoying but i've got lots of love for nancy she's one of my favorite characters
song i associate with them: heart of glass by blondie
favorite picture of them:
