AFTER 291 - Revisiting Twice: Was Dabi listening the whole time?

Lmao I’m so mad I didn’t post this before the leaks because wow...I was right. 

Had to re-edit some parts here but here are the evidences I believed Hori left to implied that Dabi was in fact using Twice. Whether his death was plan or not is still to be decided but... Twice was bait.

I am of the unpopular opinion that both Dabi and Hawks are responsible for Twice’s death.

CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR 291

(FYI: This is rather long bc I haven’t done theories in awhile so I don’t know when to shut up and overdramatic as Dabi sometimes lol.)

It could be just a plot hole Horikoshi didn’t realize he left but it’s been simmering in my mind since all the foreshadowing of Dabi’s upcoming broadcast. And with Dabi admitting how he did think of killing Shoto, his brother, for his goals... This theory doesn’t seem so crazy now. 

Now that we know of the elaborate scheme Dabi has been planning for many years (and good for him!) coming to fruition at last! I have to wonder what role was Twice gonna have in his plan? Was Hawks apart of it too? Had they been playing their part this whole time? (Edit: With the leaks 291 the answer is yes.)

When the mansion got invaded it was so strange to me that while everyone was heading to battleground, Dabi, turned the other way. He was heading toward Twice. Why? How? We all knew that when the raid started Skeptic put the blame on Twice + Hawks and tried to find them. He couldn’t because Hawks had removed the mini cams by then. So how did Dabi know where Twice was located and that he was being targeted?

The only way Dabi would know is if he had been keeping tabs on Twice and Hawks. Becoming familiar enough with their habits and thinking to make the conclusion that Hawks would trap Twice in that specific room. We already know Dabi never trusted Hawks and yet he allowed him to get close to Twice. Why? Especially if he could guess that Twice had become Hawks intended target in his double agent agenda. Unless this is what he wanted...

Which is already pretty bad using an ally like this. If Dabi didn’t want Hawks to get Twice he would have mention it beforehand. He had to have wanted this. But hey let’s give Dabi the benefit of the doubt that maybe he allow this because he thought he had high possibility of avoiding the worst outcome: Twice’s death

But then that would mean Dabi was willing to risk Twice’s life in luring Hawks which is what I think he did. 

But did he really?

(I’ll be using the official viz’s translation for these lines quotes but the japanese raws to show there’s no differentiation between word usage in the images itself.)

Chapter 265 Dabi: Looks like sentiment tripped you up after all, hero! Hawks: I could never allow mere sentiment to trip me up.

We know that when Dabi finally reached Twice’s location that he did not immediately come to his rescue. He waited for an opening and him throwing Hawks’s words back at him then always seem like an indication of his arrival time.

However in the following chapter, 266: Happy Life, Dabi retorts one of Hawks’ line again. It’s easy to miss since it’s only one word this time and not a whole sentence. I didn’t catch it until several rereads later.

Dabi: He was just 'unlucky,' huh? Maybe by your screwed-up standards

Hawks: You've just been unlucky, but you can make a fresh start once you pay for your crimes.

We can see that Dabi is quoting a phrase in his thoughts. He is not saying this. And ordinarily this would be fine except when Hawks said this line to Twice, Dabi was nowhere near to hear this. We see at the end of chapter 264 that Dabi is still running up the stairs...

Unless Hawks was yelling this line which I doubt. Or the time passage between these two panels are different somehow, again: press doubt, Dabi should have not been able to hear this line but he did. How? Either this is an overlook on Horikoshi’s part or Dabi somehow had bugged the room. Pretty wild of a guess especially when Hawks would have taken out any cameras I think...but if Dabi had been overhearing their conversation this whole time then it make sense why he had certain trail of thought passed his mind in this panel.

Panel Above Dabi: Twice. This isn't your fault. As always... scummy heroes are to blame.

Twice was despairing in this chapter blaming himself for once again falling for a trap. I always thought it was very nakama-like that Dabi could SOMEHOW sense Twice’s plead and reply to his soul. “This isn’t your fault” is the closest to an apologize from Dabi, because really isn’t his fault. It’s Dabi’s. And god if he had been listening this whole damn time no wonder he thought this when he did. Of course he could’ve also just heard Twice’s agony scream (sfx seen on the top)...

I could go on longer about how Dabi faked shock on Hawks escaping his hold, how his little show of comradery with Twice in combating Hawks was an act in itself. And his reaction toward Twice’s death, the word choice usages, the tone of it all was quite theatrical. Good show, Dabi!! 

It had to have been if it was being recorded. Gotta play the good ally, right?

I always did wonder why there was such a focus on his hand on these panels in the infamous black speech bubble chapter. It’s not like the other panels where the focus is there because of his burns. He had something in his grasp to hide.

Chapter 291 Spoiler:

It was one of Skeptic’s cameras. 

That makes me wonder something though. Was this when he cut off the film? And if so, why? If he knew Skeptic was gonna see it and the world why end the recording there after torturing Hawks? Y’know aside from obviously saying he doesn’t care about the league, etc.

Are we really so sure that this bubble had his name? Or could there be something else? There’s a good chance this censor wasn't just a tease but indication of when the camera stop for a moment.

I gotta say if Dabi’s pre recording still going on then I fear for his next card drawn. What are the chances he recorded some students on the battlefield as well? Students who shouldn’t be there in the first place whose parents have no clue their child/ren are a participant of war. As far as they know they’re suppose to be on a field trip for their work study program. Oh man are hero society gonna have a field day if that’s reveal~

One thing for sure though. Twice was bait. Whether it went according to Dabi’s original plan can be up for debate(as in his death being the goal...since 291 SPOILER: Dabi’s pre-recording voice only mention Hawks killing Jeanist, not Twice) but Dabi was satisfied with the end result either way. R.I.P. TWICE You were such a swell guy but too easy to use. It happens. You had a good life.

Some potentially fun twists! They both have caveats that might weaken aspects of the story or themselves but they're more interesting than whats happening now

With the exception of ER they really didn't use the potential MEI had, especially when we got an alive au bubble verse MEI in the moon arc. And I mentioned before that kevin's really weak as a main antagonist and works better as a general right? so. Here's the Idea.

Everything's the same right up until they reconnect MEI's bubble with the main branch, and then, maybe bc of a different timeline, seeing hoFin herself, or being trapped for 50k years, or maybe just bc this is what she would have done in the main timeline too. MEI turns out to have been using them to get back to the main universe, and takes the helm of Project Stigma.

Now we have a more compelling main antagonist and leader of WS than kevin, and kevin becoming secondary to MEI probably strengthens the interesting parts of his character too. The plan that they're fighting against also become more threatening because now the smartest minds in the CE have to frantically outmaneuver the legendary scientist of the PE.

Also as a bonus we get to have the CE main trio facing off against their PE counterparts, Prometheus, Kevin, and MEI. Which is fun! and actually addresses the counterpart thing, AND plays into the whole PE mentality vs CE mentality thing ER set up. The plot is ultimately about CE fighting PE for control over their own destiny so we should see more of that face off instead of *gestures*

The second potential twist needs a bit more change to the time before it came to pass, namely Ai chan needs to be less of a Deus Ex Technobabble but thats a flaw of the existing story anyway and theres a bunch of unnecessary filler that can be cut.

But as it stands AI chan lambda is an ascended april fools joke that the audience has absolutely no investment in and its kind of an issue to have introduced a major player this late.

Her so called character arc happened entirely in exposition after the fact about how she was an inhuman being trying to become more human, and frankly, EE did it better (still badly, but better).

The twist is, when the golden grey serpent is trying to lock her into project stigma after her speech about infinity and ego and whatnot, He Fails. Hes confused as to why he cant yeet her into gay baby jail. And Lambda drops the AI-chan impression and says that there's no way Project Stigma can capture her, she designed it.

And Gold Serpent realizes he isn't facing off against some random interloper, he's facing off against Mobius. Closing off that lose thread about Mobius not dying by actually following through on the AI Chan is Mobius in disguise theory. This does mean we yeet like all of Lambdas backstory and like half her characterization, but like. it was mostly technobabble anyway and this is more fun.

Especially if you do both twists together bc then Mobius and MEI would have essentially switched projects

Are they the most phenomenal story twists ever? Probably not. Are they more compelling than canon? Absolutely!



With things starting to come apart story writing wise around ER chapter 3 onwards, its like otto took the good writing with him when he died. Almost makes me miss him. He *was* pretty good at actually explaining the technobabble in a way that was remotely understandable because he wanted to make sure people understood he was smarter than them/j

He was a more compelling villain who threatened things we were personally invested in and that we could reasonably believe there was a threat to (see, why making the stakes the entire world tends to kill suspension of disbelief and investment bc now theres no way they lose) and he had a personality that was fun to watch/hate/like and his schemes were actually interesting and had good plot twists to them.

His biggest strength were his resources and his ability to maneuver them well, which is way more interesting than kevin "he is so good at hitting things" as an antagonist.

Kevin would have worked so much better and his personal tragedies been more compelling as a result if he wasnt the main antagonist and was instead like a powerful weapon of the main antagonist. ...and I just ranted into an interesting idea that I need to think about...

The next of the Potter-Malfoy kids I’d like to introduce you to is Eltanin

It was May of 2006, and Eudora was about 4-5 months along with Alsafi when Harry opened the front door to find a baby snoozing on his doorstep. 

The baby looked newly born, with tufts of hair on his head, two patches of which, Harry noticed, were bright white.

With the shock of it all, Harry dropped a quite heavy bag he had been planning to bring with him to work

It made a loud thunk right next to the baby + harry just winced expecting to hear shrieks of crying

but the baby was silent

Harry ofc immediately hurried him inside to make sure he was warm and alive with no obvious problems.

and that’s when the baby began to wail 

It’s crying echoed through the house, loud enough to wake up the whole house. (8 y/o Teddy, 4 y/o twins, 2 y/o Cassiopeia and of course, nearly 26 y/o Draco)

Harry wasn’t able to quiet the baby + was v scared that perhaps the baby was in pain or had some sort of medical issue.

So, Draco stumbles down stairs + before he sees the baby he’s yawning and asking why Cassiopeia is shrieking that loudly 

… and then he freezes. that baby is not Cassiopeia. He’s much smaller, and much darker. 

he’s only frozen for a grand total of 2 seconds before he starts to freak out

“whO’S BABY IS THAT?! WHY DO YOU HAVE A BABY ?! OH GOD. HARRY DID YOU STEAL A BABY?!” 

+ for just a hot, terrifying second, Draco looks around expecting to find Eudora. But no, this wasn’t their baby, Alsafi. It was too big to be so premature.

Harry , still trying to rock the baby attempts to calmly explain that no, he did not steal a baby. 

 In the wee hours of this morning, Draco + Harry are running around trying to figure out what to do.

They finally get the baby to quiet down in Draco’s arms, while Harry sits across from him. 

Draco’s looking down at the boy and with a jolt, sees that his eyes are open. and he just kind of… gaps down at him. 

“…harry… his eyes… one’s- one’s bright blue.” He just whispers distractedly and bit concerned. 

He generally wouldn’t be concerned about Heterochromia, but the fact that this boy did not seem to be able to genetically have any shade of blue eyes worried him 

perhaps he had been cursed and left to them?

Harry comes over too and stares down at the infant. Something is itching at the back of brain

 “We have to take him to St. Mungo’s don’t we?” 

So they send a fire message to Molly to come watch the kids while before flooing over to St. Mungos.

Mediwitches take the boy and inspect him, all while Draco and Harry wait in another room, anxious.

They’re eventually told that the boy is a newborn and looks to have “Moderate Sedendum Syndrome” which the muggles call “Type II Waardenburg Syndrome.”

The boy is permanently deaf and has pigmentation issues. The only major concern is that they need to watch him for Kidney and Pulmonary Artery Abnormalities, but he should be fine. 

The mediwitch also shows them that a boy had been written on on his stomach, leaving a message that his parents did not want him because of his condition (in which, they thought it a curse) and that they left it with Draco and Harry because they’re “collecting kids anyway? What’s one more?”

This message later leaves Hermione to make the note that the baby’s parents are probably purebloods, as they didn’t think it could be a mundane defect

Harry gently scrubs it off with his own hands, feeling a bit angry and protective over the boy already 

Then starts the long and complicated meetings with the Social work department of the Ministry. + the long conversations over whether or not they should keep the boy, especially with a son already on the way.

They end up deciding to send him to the “international foster home” I mentioned before bc two newborn babies to take care of in the span of 5 months didn’t seem like something they could realistically handle with all their children.

but that night neither of them can sleep, and in their guts it just feels right to take the boy in. because over all the time trying to figure out what to do with him, they had both been thinking about things like names, and what his room would look like and whether Anita would share with him or not. What house he would be in. What kind of magic he would do.

So they take him (bc shit, their first children were twins, they could do this) and name him Eltanin (Lucius). and get him fitted for hearing aids (cute little ones with nifflers on them) 

They begin to teach the other kids sign language immediately, learning themselves constantly, so that by the time Eltanin is 6 months old, they can start working with him on it. 

they also try to anticipate his future life, Hogwarts and beyond that. 

they meet with lots of people. deaf wizards and muggles as well as parents of deaf wizards and muggles. speech therapists. doctors. specialists. anyone who can give them a full view. (one of these people happen to be Theodore Nott, who had recently had a son who was born with profound hearing loss)

They had a few main questions: Should they encourage him to learn to speak and sign at the same time? Can he even learn to speak with profound hearing loss? Should he get a cochlear implant or not? Should he not go to Hogwarts and instead go to a school for the deaf, where he could feel more culturally intact? 

In short, it all boils down to, how much will his deafness affect his life?

They decide to go ahead with a witch speech therapist, specifically trained to deal with children with profound hearing loss. 

They want him to learn to speak and sign, but were advised not to invest in a cochlear implant, because Eltanin may not want it in the future. He could go to Hogwarts, but should probably have regular contact with other deaf wizards. Which means lots of playdates with Hyacinthus Nott.

he’s not a crier, or a complainer, or a tantrum thrower.

He’ll cry if he needs something and stops when he gets it. If he falls, he asks for a bandaid and moves on. If he’s upset he hides it.

As Eltanin gets older this concerns Harry greatly. He begins to tell Eltanin when he’s 5 that he can come to Harry if he’s upset. That he won’t be mad or judge him if that’s what he’s worried about. That it’s okay to be upset, it’s okay to show that sometimes, even if they aren’t your shining and most proud moments.

But Eltanin is happy kid. He’s very bubbly and one that jokes around a lot

but he’s also sassy. Like.. too sassy for his own good. He’s a back talker and frequent sarcasm user. (He signs sarcastically, I mean. no one even knows how he manages it) 

He insists on continuing the whole “niffler hearing aids” thing for his entire life bc this boy is obsessed with extremely random things

He loves nifflers, finds them fascinating. and the Goblin Rebellions? Don’t even get him started. He also likes Korean Wizard rock bands that Harry constantly dad jokes him about

Though he and Alsafi are only 7 months apart, they end up going into separate years bc of the August cut off and Eltanin never lets him forget it. “I am your older brother, therefore my clear authority over you dictates that…”

He gets to Hogwarts and the hat takes a very long time to decide. Is he a Gryffindor or is he Ravenclaw or …”Slytherin!” 

Eltanin was well liked by his housemates, who immediately learned sign language for him. Even the Slytherins who didn’t know Eltanin learned to sign

It eventually got to the point of being a tradition in the Slytherin house, which was upheld for many decades past Eltanin being there.

(Around 12 Eltanin’s hair turned completely white, which his housemates thought was super cool.)

Everything seemed amazing for Eltanin and the other kids but, at this point people started to talk. 

Those who went through the war and knew what Draco Malfoy did. Those who were so anti-dark wizard that they couldn’t believe- didn’t believe - that Harry Potter, savior of the wizarding world, could really marry Draco Malfoy of his own free will, in his right mind. and on the other hand, why would Draco Malfoy want to marry and have kids with Harry Potter anyway? Not to mention, they were turning out mostly Slytherin children…

It was still only whispers and rumors and conspiracy, still things whispered behind hands and laughed at by most. The kids were teased sometimes, something Teddy always put a stop to.

.. until about a year later when Rita Skeeter released a 962 page book. “Draco Malfoy’s Dark Secret” 

It outlined (with plenty of extremely convincing evidence) how Draco is continually slipping Harry love potions in order to trap him, and is now taking in children to brainwash and turn into soldiers, “or worse, experiment on”. It painted Harry as a tragic victim and their kids as possibly dangerous.

To the general public this accusation seemed extremely far fetched and completely silly. Some saying it “worthy of the Lovegoods” until they read it.

When Draco and Harry got a copy in their hands, they were sure that if they hadn’t been them, they would have a hard time not believing this theory, with all the evidence they’d no idea how Rita acquired. 

Ron even half believed it. Harry caught him checking a mug of coffee Draco had made for him, and tried to ask Harry if he was sure of what was going on. 

Harry had just snatched the drink away and gulped it down, looking Ron straight in the eye and refusing to speak to him for days. 

It was the kids who took the brunt of it really. Teddy had graduated and the Slytherins were the only ones who took up for them.

It got so bad that Sirius ended up taking refuge, sleeping in turns in her sibling’s beds and studying between breaks in the Slytherin common room. 

It began to be a normal sight to see red and gold Sirius sitting in their common room.

Rita’s book was even banned in Hogwarts in an attempt to help the kids.

Harry and Draco had to keep holed up inside, with Ginny bringing the necessities.

It was interestingly Neville who came to the aid of Harry. With the help of Luna and Hannah, he put together a book with interviews, pictures and stories from anyone who knew Harry and Draco well.

 Rolf, Hermione, Ron, Dean, Seamus, Pavarti and Padma, all the Weasleys, Dennis Creevey, Eltanin’s speech therapist, Narcissa and Lucius, Andromeda, Hagrid, Professors Mcgonagall, Sprout, Slughorn and Flitwick, Eleanora, various Mediwitches and healers. Mrs Figg, Cho Chang, Viktor Krum, Gabrielle Delacor, and even Blaise, Pansy, Theodore and their spouses showed up to help. 

The book was exactly 963 pages and was simply labeled “the Truth About the Potter-Malfoy Family” 

It didn’t exactly cause the Potter-Malfoys to be considered a group angels, but it did finally quiet the craziness Rita had started.

Eltanin had a relatively normal Hogwarts-career after that fiasco.

He’s the only of the kids that didn’t play quidditch, but you bet your ass he was out there with their names on hid forehead whenever they played.

Eltanin is a fantastic Potioneer

He ended up going by “Malfoy” 

+ after being told about their parents as students, he and Alsafi jokingly sneered “Potter” “Malfoy” at each other whenever they passed

That's How You Know

So, happy late bday, Kim, like, a milenial late, but ey, better late than ever, imma right? eeeeey. I love you, tiny. I really really really hope you like this and I don’t break your heart like your first gift.....yeh.

Anyways, Shallura centric with mentions of Klance and Hunay and broganes.

As far as Shiro is concerned: he’s an only child,

Because he’s going to kill his little brother.

Shiro stomps hard against the hall’s floor as he heads towards the last door on the right. He has walked down this hall a lot of times over the last four years, being the place where his squad and him came to have their weekly movie night.

Lance’s apartment has always been their meeting point, but, for half a year now, it had become Lance and Keith’s, seeing how much time his little brother spent at his boyfriend’s apartment rather than their own.

Which is exactly why he’s marching down to Lance’s apartment, because he knows the lil’shit he has of a brother will be there and he’s going to regret deleting the last season of Game of Thrones before Shiro had a chance to see it just to record his crappy 90’s conspiracy theories.

As soon as the familiar mahogany door is in front of him, Shiro holds up his prosthetic and knocks, maybe with a little too much force than usual, and taps his foot against the floor in impatience, grumbling under his breath as he waits for an answer.

He hears the door lock click and as soon as there’s enough space in between, Shiro is quick to raise his hand, finger pointed in accusation at the person behind the door, mouth wide open ready for a screaming match -

“Um?”

When he realizes that it’s neither Lance or Keith who is behind the door and it’s an entirely different person who he’s currently trespassing on their personal bubble, his finger a little too close to the bridge of their nose.

Bright deep blue eyes meet his own gray ones and suddenly Shiro forgets why he came here. Brother? What brother? Game of Thrones? Whatever, everyone dies anyways.

All he can focus on is those big eyes that are staring at him...with a hint of indignation and annoyance, yep, right, okay then, time to apologize.

“Um!” That’s not how one should start with when attempting to apologize, but he’s trying, “I’m sorry! I’m really sorry, I thought you were Klance - I mean! Keith! Or Lance! I thought you were one of them, and I was looking for my brother, but you’re not my brother because, of course, you don’t have a - Oh kay then, yes, so , um, you're not them, and I’m really sorry about that abrupted ...scene I guess? I don’t usually do that, but you see, it was Game of Thrones so he had to pay -”

Shiro has chill, he swears to God he's the chilled one in his family, but no one can blame him when he loses said chill because there's suddenly a Goddess in front of him, okay?

How about if he runs? Would that make this less awkward?

He doesn’t have time to decide because suddenly, the gorgeous stranger in front of him gasps and he swears her eyes sparkle as they focus on his arm prosthetic.

“Is that a prosthetic? That’s a stupid question, of course it is! Oh, my! Look at this detail, this is amazing! I have never seen technology so advanced except in our laboratory, how did you managed to get this prototype? How was the physical therapy sessions? This is quite outstanding.”

Shiro blinks, face still flushed and mouth dry.

“Uh…” he lets out dumbly and it’s enough to make the woman jump in realization, her blue eyes widening.

“Oh, oh my gosh, I’m terribly sorry, I didn’t meant to uh, I just - I’m really sorry! I just - I’m a Doctor and I just started to make a new prototype for a mechanic prosthetic along with my father back at the hospital and - not that I’m excused just for that fact but uh - I just wanted to assured you I’m not a creep or a morbid person and - Oh, quiznak,  I’m - Uh...”

She trails off unsure, lower lip getting caught between her teeth and - Ok, Shiro should really look away now.

...Ok, so, he stares a little bit more.

He doesn’t mind in the least the topic revolving around his prosthetic; it’s been a couple of years since his accident and he has healed and grow since then. His past and disability doesn't define him, he has learn that, and he lived by that.

But it’s not like he’s about to tell her that; his awkwardness had to be shared, okay? He has rights as a human being and letting other people to share the awkwardness was part of those rights.

The silence expands itself and Shiro’s starting to think that this is a good time for space cats to try and invade Earth just so he could get out of this mess.

But then the dark skinned goddess princess in front of him - because, honestly, what else could she be - claps her hands with determination before she moves around him, careful to not touch skin and somehow they end up switching places; Shiro blinks in confusion as his feet hit the wooden floor of the apartment and stares as the still unknown woman shifts on her feet outside the apartment.

“Yeah, ok, so, um, just stay there and - uh, hang on -” She says hurriedly, grabbing the handle of the door to close it carefully before she closes it entirely, leaving Shiro behind with an empty apartment.

Not two seconds later and then there’s a knock on the door. Shiro immediately opens it and then there’s the woman, smiling bright and wide at him and holding out her hand.

“Hi, I’m Allura Altea, I’m Lance’s cousin and I promise not to make this awkward again.”

That’s all it takes for Shiro to think she’s the one.

Their first date took place two weeks later right after Shiro finally got the courage to ask Allura out.

Shiro wants to emphasize that by ‘courage’ he means that his little brother quite literally kicked him in the butt towards Allura during one of Lance’s parties and shouted loud enough about how Shiro wanted to woo Allura with his charm like he wrote in his diary.

It’s a fucking journal, Keith, learn the difference.

At the end, he couldn’t really kill Keith, again, after that scene because Allura had laughed. She laughed and shook her head in disbelief before asking Shiro to expand his idea on his journal and his future plans.

Shiro was more than happy to share.

Now, they stand here: a thursday night on the small but comfortable terrace of Coran’s bakery, the dim lights hanging from the green flora around the walls giving the entire place a more romantic atmosphere.

Allura had complained at first, an embarrassed flush on her cheeks at her Uncle’s tactics and wink when they had arrived, but Shiro had waived the teasing off, offering a wink back to the mustached man and whispering a quick ‘thank you’ before guiding Allura to their table.

It takes a while but then the sun sets, the terrace get brighter and Shiro can only stare fondly as Allura keeps talking, eyes wide with excitement and arms flying around vividly at every word coming out of her mouth.

He’s entranced and he doesn't want to look away but his phone beeps besides him, letting him know it’s a quarter before midnight.

He voices his new discovery and he’s met with a confused arched eyebrow and a soft gasp.

"What? Already?"

Those gotta be his new favorite words.

Shiro chuckles softly, shaking his head in amusement as Allura takes out her own phone to confirm his statement.

"I can't believe five hours have passed already," she muses in wonder, blinking owlishly before flashing him a bright smile. "Time flies, huh?"

With her by his side? He’s starting to realize that.

That’s how Shiro knows she’s the one.

Hunay’s wedding - because apparently now ship names were a thing in their squad and they are never letting him live it down - had been beautiful and Shiro is not afraid to admit that he had been low-key sobbing during the vows.

Shiro lost track of the squad soon after Lance delivered his best man’s speech. He could still see Pidge, though, dancing on the dance floor with her brother, who is also his best friend, laughing as Matt twirls his little sister around with a happy grin, his leg prosthetic doing nothing to prevent him from having fun.

He doesn’t want to even imagine where Lance and Keith are; knowing the two of them, they were probably being teenagers in the backroom instead of two adults with aerodynamic degrees.

“They are actually cuddling,” Allura says calmly suddendly joining him, as if she had read his thoughts, before intertwining their fingers together, her touch warm and secure against his flesh hand, “I passed them just a few minutes ago, both of them laying on the sand with the sunset behind them. Quite romantic, if I say so myself.”

“They are in Hawaii, the least they could do is appreciate the beautiful view of the sunset.” Shiro jokes, and Allura nudging him with her shoulder.

“I believe that seeing one of the people you love the most on this Earth being happy beats watching a sunset in Hawaii, dear.” Allura says playfully but her eyes to meet his and the intensity and emotion in her gaze makes his breath hitch.

‘Maybe so,’ Shiro thinks as he smiles down at her fondly, ‘but I don’t need a sunset when I see my everyday sunrise in you.’

Allura mirrors his smile before she sighs contently, resting her head on his shoulder and staying quiet for a few seconds, just enjoying each other’s company before Shiro drops a kiss on top of her head.

“Hey, dance with me?” He whispers softly before he yelps out in surprise when Allura flashes him a grin and tugs his hand ,running towards the dance floor.

At her smile and the sunset glow around her frame, Shiro decides she’s the one.

It takes him exactly two years and one week to tell her his thoughts.

Not because he was unsure or doubtful about his own beliefs and feelings, far from it; it was because love takes time, and while he had known from the start that he was going to spend the rest of his life with Allura, that didn’t mean he had to rush things.

Falling in love with Allura had been like anything he has experienced before. It had been abrupt and yet soft, fast and yet slow. It had been a rush of emotions quickly followed by a wave of comfort and familiarity that Shiro can’t help but think that this is not the first time living this.

That’s why, as he kneels in front of the woman he loves, the very same woman he had meet two years ago just because he wanted to kill his brother over a silly tv show, he tells her.

He tells her his thoughts, his feelings, his promises and his plans. He whispers his love, his hopes and his desires.

He reassure her, right there, under the stars and on the edge of their city, that there’s no one else in the entire universe for him, no one else out there that can make him smile, laugh or sing at three in the morning while dancing barefoot in their living apartment because -

“You’re the one,” Allura finishes for him out loud, tears falling down her eyes and her free hand, the one that’s not wrapped around Shiro’s, pressed against her chest, “You’re the one, Takashi.”

It might be night around them at the moment, but the moment Allura smiles can’ts help but think,

‘There’s my sunrise.’
