The Butterfly Effect

This is Armageddon 2 Invasion, an old Doom mod from 2008. It adds a lot of new enemies, some of which are from other FPS games, like Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, etc. I had to cheat a little for my playthrough since this is meant to be played on cooperative survival lol.

This is one of the most nostalgic Doom mods for me. I saw a video of this being played on youtube around 2008 when it came out and it introduced me to Skulltag, which was a sourceport made for multiplayer Doom (it has since been replaced by Zandronum). I didn't know english very well at the time, so I was completely out of the loop on sourceports and stuff like that. Prior to that I'd only play Doom on Doom95 because that's what came bundled with my pirated copy downloaded off of the internet lol.

This is the epitome of 2000's Doom moding on advanced sourceports. It just packs the maps with several monsters from several different sources, art style consistency is in no way a concern. And honestly, that's very charming! It was a more innocent time, when just being able to bring stuff from other games into the doom engine was novel enough to elevate a mod on it's own. You see a similar modding philosophy in stuff like Knee-Deep in Zdoom, and Aeons of Death, where it just bloats the mod with a billion custom enemies, and weapons because that was new and exciting.

But back to Armageddon 2 Invasion, I give it 100% credit for getting me into Doom modding, which became a big hobby of mine for a long time, though I severely slowed down nowadays, due to lack of time and also focusing more on other creative pursuits (and also a heightened ambition to make full on indie games instead of just mods). It also had a domino effect in my life! Through skulltag I met my first long-standing circle of online friends, and eventually my girlfriend! Life is funny like that. You see a cool mod on youtube that has all these crazy monsters in these Serious Sam-like invasion maps, and several years down the line you can trace you meeting your soul mate directly to that seemingly innocuous moment in your life. And that's not even mentioning everythign else that happened in between and since either. Friendships blossomed, and some died, several skills I've honed due to becoming a modder, dreams of making my own game, many a drama came and went, an interest in learnign more about programming and 3D modeling grew within me, and even more personal matters, like experimenting more with my sexuality and gender, since I felt much safer toying with those concepts around my rowdy friends than around my stick in the mud, conservative family.

It just goes to show, sometimes the most banal moment can completely flip the script. Maybe you're watching some random video on youtube (or tiktok nowadays for the younguns), or reading a post or fanfic, or anything really. Maybe it shows you something so cool, so amazingly kick ass, the literal coolest thing ever for your developing brain, that it completely changes the course of your life.

And that dear reader, is the beauty of life.

i should type up the pfeil lore tbh since ive changed it up a little bit recently (very minor changes)

so to start off with pfeil was um. a bit of an oopsie. as has been previously discussed his biological father is thancred. his mother was a noblewoman in gridania; she and her husband were like the only keeper family of any real status in the city and so they were very image-concerned, but didn't particularly like each other. thancred did his typical thancred shenanigans and ended up having a brief affair with pfeil's mom. pfeil, when he was born, was clearly thancred's kid and not his dad's, so it was a whole thing. (to clarify a little, pfeil calls the man who raised him his dad and just calls thancred thancred, so i do it too because it's easier lol)

his mom decided the best way to deal with it would be to just forbid pfeil from leaving the house and kind of. hide him. "What baby? It was a stillbirth! I don't have any conspicuously half-hyuran children!" kind of deal. she also kind of tried to ignore him the best she could when he was growing up because she just really wished he'd vanish. his dad was more hands-on and was sometimes okay but was often egregiously abusive. the servants kind of tried to just stay out of it because what do you even do in that kind of situation? this is where the csa part of pfeil's backstory comes from but that doesn't need any further details.

anyway, since pfeil wasn't allowed to like, go outside and play or anything, he was kind of a weird kid in the beginning. he did a lot of reading and both of his parents encouraged it because it meant he was silent and out of sight, so he had access to pretty much any reading material he wanted as long as it was something convenient for his parents. his favorite subjects were history and adventure fiction.

eventually he just could not tolerate how his dad treated him any longer though and ended up getting the idea in his head to run away from home at about ten ("i've read books about Outside. I can handle myself!" mindset). this would have ended disastrously for him but luckily after a little while of his wandering around gridania CLEARLY lost as fuck mother miounne took him in. she agreed to let him stay at the inn at the carline canopy in exchange for work from him (child labor laws who?) and he agreed. he mostly just waited tables and washed up and he was very cute and the patrons loved him.

the calamity happened when he was 12 and he ended up getting injured and trapped. while he was trapped he saw the Vision From Hydaelyn one gets at the beginning of the game of their wol kicking lahabrea's ass. this is when he got his echo, and also when he decided he wanted to be an adventurer and HERO!!!!!!1 so obviously he goes home and is like "mother miounne let me join the adventurers guild" and she's like "ummm....you're 12. how about you uuuhhh go do odd jobs at bentbranch! that's an adventure!"

so he went and lived at bentbranch for the next five years and got Really Good at caring for chocobos, which became his special interest, and also at hunting using a bow and arrow. he was given a little leeway with hunting in his spare time because it was a useful skill in that it helped feed everyone who lived at the stables or worked there for very long periods, especially immediately post-calamity. as discussed earlier he did not like castrum oriens (i got the name wrong last night LOL), it was always something of a risk to go near it armed even though he was just a teenager with hunting equipment, and it disturbed the wildlife in the area which made his life a little harder. he definitely threw rocks when he thought he could get away with it lol. during this time he also ended up developing amnesia for a lot of his early childhood.

once he was 17 he felt confident enough in his skills with archery to join the adventurer's guild. and then everythign in his life went wrong. Actually it went great at first. at the end of ARR he's like "oh i'm the coolest hero boy ever and everyone loves me and i'm hydaelyn's gift to mankind" but the ARR patches were uhh...well they kind of disabused him of that notion. he had a massive mental breakdown at the beginning of heavensward, became a dark knight, and then awful things just Kept Happening! he did not start getting any better mentally until like, the tail end of endwalker, although he had a bit of a false start for winning at mental health during shadowbringers up until mt gulg.

anyway that's the sort of short pfeil primer. i have some more thoughts about individual expansions but we could be here all day

Jolt, like the rest of them, hasnt had a "proper formal education", but he's the most well written of the group, able to read and write in both spanish and english, as well as being fluent in both. His mathmatical skills are enough to get by with, simple maths. He's also read a lot of history books in his free time, so he knows a suprising amount of US history, not that most of it matters anymore.

Most of the time, the crimes he's commited have been done in places where it doesnt really matter- around other raiders, killing people in arena style fights, ect. He's not got the stickiest hands, but he's swiped a few things in his life. Over all, he's intimidating and skilled enough to swipe stuff without gettign caught.)

Jolt paints fequently and paints things like aniamls and plants to catolauge them, writing down information as he learns about them, either for saftey, hunting, or foraging, sometimes even receipes. He's not super skilled at it, and struggles to draw people, but it's still a hobby of his.

He's skilled with things like cooking, construction, and he's pretty good at taking care of weapons/ maintaining them. he's not great with machinery, things like cars and what not, he is decent at wiring though, and can hot wire cars in case of emergency. )

He's got pretty hardcore psycho addiction. while using he's either highly aggressive and manic, but often is subject to bad trips becoming emotional and mostly inconsolable. He also uses day tripper and marijuana, but less recreational and more medicinal, using them to manage his psycho addiction and mental health issues.

stimpacks, med x, rad away, rad x for all of them, jolt also uses buffout but like a pre-workout/training situation, often only taking half a dose. He also uses Calmex but as directed.

Jolt dies most of the cooking, cooking a lot of mexican and native dishes (or as close as he can get) so mostly things fluctiate from extremely healthy to very deep fried. He really enjoys spicy food more then sweet food, and his favorite foods are often served over rice, or fried. Some of his favorites are Pemmican (my mom made this a lot as a kid and its like a larabar with meat. highly reccomend), Tamales, and menudo (personally, i hate tripe, it makes me want to crawl in a hole and die, but my mom loves and says its very good for you.)

He's pretty stingy with money, budgeting everything, drugs, drinks, cigarettes, food, everything is included. Every so often he'll splurge on new spices or food, paint suplies, or on something as a surprise for Keres (which is usually new herbs or candles.) He also enjoys buying and trying unique cuts of food or veggies or meats he's never tried before.

gambled once, and vowed to never do it again. He does do betted fights, but he's rarely lost a fight, picking his opponents carefully.)

Keres is mostly blind, having severe cataracts in both eyes. they could read previously, and with some aid still can. Jolt and Rikki often sit down and rewrite books using extra pressure so that keres can read the indents (like braille but none of them know it.) have several books they can use. Other wise, they are literate. they also know some spanish, not enough to be considered fluent, but enough to hold private conversations with Jolt right in fron to rikki and Bux.

Keres isnt the most technically skilled, they can sew decently well, can crochet and knit at alarming speed for someone with little to no vision, and again, despite being blind, makes a decent medic.)

Keres smokes a lot of weed, but also has a decently high tolerance to it, rarely actually getting high. They dont have a lot of anxiety but they seem to be a bit inattentive without it. They also use Jet, a lot, it helps again from being disassociated, or over stimulated, using it to regulate themselves.

Most medicinal medicines keres uses are once they've made themselves, and are usually tinctures, teas or topical ointments. Keres loves anything Jolt cooks, being unable to cook themselves, rikki being unable to handle spices very well and Bux incinerating everything he "cooks". His style of cooking is nearly identical to their families' and Jolt's curiosity for trying new receipies is exciting to keres, as it mean flavor and textural variety. They enjoy savory and bitter foods, and also fermented dishes. Keres doesn't really have any particularly favorite dishes, but anything with seafood, jerky, or fried is likely to be enjoyed. All that being said, they won't eat anythign pre-war. Probably for the best.

Keres is not allowed to buy things. They will spend all their money on candles or yarn.

He was in school for a bit before his parents divorced, he father then pulling him out of school to work on the farm. Bux has probably the stickiest fingers of the group, he could steal an entire cart of stuff and not only would you not see him do it, youd have no idea where any of it went. )

He's got a complex relationship with most family members. He doesnt resent his mother, but he's upset with her for not taking him with her when she and walter divorced. Then she married Perry. Perry's great, super nice, and seems like he actually enjoy's Bux's enjoyment of machines and tattoos. But he still had two kids with his mom and didnt think to invite him over even once.

His two sisters adore him, having an older brother who got in trouble for sneeking out and hanging out with a bunch of raiders seems cool to them. He however, does not want to spend time with them. He doesnt hate them, but he feels a twang of envy and sometimes guilt everytime he sees them.)

Bux can read, just not well or quickly; on top of needing to focus to read, he has no ability to focus, so he often seems illierate, but he's just a little stupid. He (and Rikki) only speak english, so hearing jolt constant swearing in spanish, or jolt and keres talking "serect older adult stuff" right in front of them is frustrating. Rikki's tried to pick up spanish, but picking it up from two affulent people (who aren't trying to teaching you) is harder then it looks (sounds?); Bux on the other hand, has chosen to ignore it.

Jolt is normally the one considered the artist of the group, and sure, when it comes to drawing plants and animals, he's better than Bux, but when drawing people Bux is usually better. Bux likes making more abstract desgins, anyways. He's maybe not the best with paint and paper, but he can tattoo something else.

On a technically level (on all levels except physical) Bux is pretty impressive. with machines, anyways. He seems to speak to the hardware, and know where it goes. software is a little trickier for him, which isnt saying much cause you could probably hand him a peice of technology he's never seen or heard of and be able to fix it after about five minutes of inspecting. ✧˖°. He's so constantly high or drunk that the few times Jolt has seen him sober he's been genuinely worried. If he's able to come down from it all gracefully, he hits a major low pretty easily. Often mopey, quiet, avoidant, and typically irratable. If not, He's more likely to have a shakey, screaming meltdown. Keres and Rikki cant handle the meltdowns, and Jolt is freaked out by the mellow (even if his highs can be annoying) so the group does not prevent him from indulging in his habits. He'll pretty much drink whatever, smoke whatever, but in general, Jet is his drug of choice. Jet, weed, and maybe a little calmex (generously spared by Jolt at the request of Keres when they travel.) other than the occaisonally calmex, he's taking mostly uppers.

Bux enjoys a good bit of Jolt's cooking, but he's not a fan of the more 'explorative' dishes, and isn't quite accustomed to other culture's foods, so he can be rather picky. He however, will devour anything prewar, very happily. His favorite are the yum yum deviled eggs. Jolt has attempted to make him fresh, homemade, non irradiated, likely moldy, and properly seasoned deviled eggs, but Bux still prefers the stuff out of the box. He does think Jolt's pork n' beans is better, though.

While not quite as bad as Keres, Bux is also not allowed to spend his own money. He gets an allowance though. He enjoys gambling, too, so that adds on to the "List of Reasons Why." posted on the fridge by Jolt. He mostly spends on drugs or food, but will also spend on tattoo and pericing supplies, or bust it all gambling. He likes dice games, and betting games. He's not great at it. )

(fun fact about the various drugs of fallout; they're inspired by real world drugs/medications, and when writing stories you can apply the real world affects and repercussions :D I've seen a few different interpretations, but here are mine personally (having worked in (and currently working for) various biomedical pharmaceutical distributions or management companies, and while not being a doctor, I know more than the average person about these drugs. (I've mostly included the ones that are important story wise.) Psycho: Methamphetamine Jet: Jenkem (I've seen some people say its an amphetamine, and i think the effects of jet are pretty similar canonically, but it's definetly jekem.) Med-x: Morphine Buffout: roids. Calmex: Ketamine. Daddy-o: Xanax or adderall. (Or something similar.) Day Tripper: LSD or shrooms but bottled for your conveinence. my goodness i have changed wtf

looking back to the beginning of this year till now is actually fucking insane how much has happened and how things ended up being like. I'm actually accomplishing my goals that i had planned for this year and it feels good but it's kinda like i need something else for the motivation to keep going. Umm lets see I'm finally under 200 and I can keep doing that if i watch my diet. Ummmmm should i start witht he boy who i was i was ina s ituationship with or just pick up where I lelft off? Hmm so last time i was on here I was already on talking terms with my ex(yea ik bad) but it was kinda innocent. (not really lmao) then I got my wisdom tooth surgery and i had a little complication bc it was not healing up properly. Thennnnn I had my bday how i planned it. I even bought myself a little camera but it dies so quick so rip. Ooo i turned 21 if you didn't know and i had my first whiskey shot at midnight thanks to no relationship man. (Imma call him teddy bear bc thats what it gave and reminds me of the song teddy bear by melanie martinez. Oooo i finally got into a relationship with teddy bear but i pratcially begged him tbh. oh and before that i got my grand,as car towed from his apartment........ i don't wanna even revisit im just glad i didn't have to pay for it. And then i went to see melanie martinex for her 3 album tour and it was MAGICALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. as per usuall life went downhill after seeing such a queen. I was =n't doing too hot spring quarter and that why im taking my last class i needed. However i did sign my lease for the dorms imma be living so I'm offically a university gal! regarding to that i got a second job just for the summer to help with paying for college but tbh let be real lmao. lets just say if i thought i was busy in january this is nothing compared. oh and I dyed my hair in may becaseu i felt like it but im back to my natural color and in pain bc my hair is so weak rn. ummmmmmm today i'm finally goign to be a manager at my main job and iim so excited but nervous. i keep seeing it around so while i havent gotten all shrines myself yet (bc i havent felt motivated to play atm) im absolutely sure that weird armor is supposed to be the hero from the tapestry and its supposed to be a mix of hylians and zonau .. i guess its confirmed then that rauru and sonia had kids, somehwere off screen in the background dw they couldnt be important to anything lmao, and that the ancient hero was half zonau (shouldnt it be the princess tho- or cant we have a weird looking zelda ..?) and i

i know i have annoying opinions about this game to hell and back and i might be the only one who keeps finding things to be annoying about but-

the ancient hero being yet again connected to the zonau just ... ugh, i dont like it; not just bc its a very lackluster reveal to a neat mystery that in my eyes didnt need solving (it was cool to theorize about it being ganondorf but that aint possible now that we know what happens in totk...) but it makes it all feel even more like ... an after thought? like, you got the old tapestry from that time still and while a lot of history was lost (or destroyed really) about the ancient shiekah .. why would the zonau be just completely forgotten when theres living evidence and people descended from them still there back in those ancient shiekah days and you are telling me know one knew they actually existed? and how did their genetics get compeltely wiped out like that? since sonia mentions that our zelda has both time and light magic it kinda directly implies one of her ancestors must have been one of those half zonaus

like yeah 10 000 years is a long ass time and if you keep mixing it with hylian genes it will end up pretty unrecognizable, but that still just kinda ... there must have been many weird middle stages of that, and no one thoguht to mention the strange looking hylians, however many there were? ESPECIALLY considering it must have been the royal family but then why did the princess on the tapestry look like her perfect princessy self and the hero whos more often than not unrelated to them was one of the half zonau? did sonia have more family that took over the ruling instead of her kids and the royal family was without zonau genes for the longest time until it somehow intermingled at some point before botw? how boring is it to have that be a thing and then not let a single feature of them survive? no tiny horns? no slightly strange anatomy? no a little toooo big ears? not even skin color? (ironically ganondorf skintone is the closest to the zonau lmao)

my questions really dont need answering im just throwing my brain farts onto this website bc i wont be hunted for sport here and can actually write it all out in one post; i really feels like they saw any mystery as something they could cram zonau stuff into when it was really just a neat thing added in botw to make the world feel more believable, yeah any old world with such a long history would have some mysteries that can never get solved, some ancient remains that are remnants of a time long past and forgotten, the fact that you cannot go back in time to ask is such a big part of what makes a good mystery so interesting, that longing for knowledge you can never obtain- and they answered it all in the most boring way possible, yeah look im gonna show you the last two of them in very much enclosed and non recognozable environments and tell you about how who it was and they had everything, invented everythign and were the bestest and coolest and have been everywhere before you, theres nothing they havent done before you did, but also they just all died out for unknown reasons and never bother to tell you anything that isnt look how bad the bad guy is we were too dumb to stop despite you literally talking to the last of them and running around with them in a robot next to you

like i get im bad at words so im probably not gonna get my point across but its just so ... unsatisfying, every mystery from botw being solved by just ... yo it was the cool zonau guys, every single time is so ... way to make me care less about this world that i cared so much about

dont get me wrong i loved theorizing about who they were and all the unsolved stuff but thats exactly my point, its fun to think about the possibilities knowing and not even wanting anything confirmed to be a certain way bc its more fun to think about the what ifs than get told thats how it was

all the questions that remain are really just .. logical questions that either dont have an answer that makes it work or just make it worse, why the heck did the oh so godly zonau die out and never mention anything of it, if they really came from the sky originally why is so much of their culture inspired by underground stuff (light seeds/ferns- construct design beign inspired by gigama), why did no one every bother to mention the weird half zonau people in all the ancient texts, how did all that stuff get lost so badly when no one campaigned to destroy their memory and descdendants of them still ran around, whats with all the continutiy problems to botw-

its the unfun kind of plotholes that really make this game much less fun to me, despite gameplay and music being so good

i guess this game hit my limit of their gameplay over story ways

got visually spoiled on the literally last thing i was still actively missing and working towards in totk but i dont think im gonna like it anyway ...

if it is what i think it is, and what it looks like to be, its just yet another nail in the coffin (or however you say that) as to why the lore sucks in this game even tho it had such good setup and so much potential

Swashbuckler is the Dark because they enjoy the surprise. They play dirty, hit the blindsides, and know exactly what they’re doing as they do those things and betray someone they were never on the same side of to begin with. They hide little things, secrets and slim knives and scentless, tasteless poison. They make you fear the darkness, the shadows, and what lurks in there. 

Buccaneer is the Slaughter, thoughtless, only needing a direction whilst they frenzy. The battle is their favorite part, it makes them grin and bear teeth, it makes their heart pump, but that is not all. It is the motion of it, the kinetic energy, the strain of muscles and the push and pull of a good fight. It isn’t worth it if their biceps don’t ache deep down to the bone, if their knuckles aren’t scraped, if their chest doesn’t pull, something deep down satisfied, but never enough. The look in their eyes is all too aware, bright, clear. They know how they hurt you. And they don’t care.

Privateer is the Eye, watching over and directing, keeping others in the game while it is still to be played. It is staring down the enemy and intimidating them because the privateer is so commanding, such an experienced foe to have, does this newcomer really want that? It is a leader with a good spy network, it is looking at someone and being able to analyze the weak spots, and see how best to exploit them for the favored outcome.

Musketeer is the Web, setting traps well in advance, watching where the chips fall, relishing when it is in their favor. They survey the battle from above, calling out orders and never going to bat themselves, instead taking potshots and setting more traps. Their crew stands in front of them, protects them, and will never know the true reason for whatever quest is currently their ‘life or death’ situation.

WitchDoctor is the Spiral, lying to everyone. There is a false believe that tinges the whole of the Spiral (as the wizards and pirates have named their universe), and it is that ‘witchdoctors’ are all practitioners of non-wizardry magic, of ‘hoodoo’ (yet another ignorant notion). But many are people of science, or their own practice or religion, not a single closed practice many of them would never access by virtue of it not being theirs to take and pervert for their own gain. So the witchdoctors are liars, and even then, they also distort the field and the standings so they can come out alive, they change how people feel, what they can do, and make everything so much more easy for them, and infinitely harder for their opponent.

The reason i posted this is cause i watched the 1975 toei animation little mermaid, not fully knowing if they were gonna with the same ending fron the book. Spoiler:they did. Since then I watched rhe 1968 adaption made in the soviet union by Ivan Aksenchuk. I dont have a lot to say about it honestly besides the animation is amazing. I love how they have a grid tecture over the mermaids to replicate scales.

I did a little bit of googling to find out what the original meaning of the story was, only to find out that people have been asking the same question and haven't found a singular definitive answer. In times like this all I can do is say what i think its about/what themes stood out to me.

People do what we do becuase it was feels right at the time. Objectivism is bullshit. The mermaid gave up her home and everything she knew for the chance at what she thought would fulfill her. The closest comparrison would be someone moving halfway across the country to live with someone they met online. Only to find out how differant they are then the person you thought they were. I dont know if this is intentional but a lot of the time the prince comes across as a cunt. "Oh I fell in love with the woman who saved me. But she's not around so youll be the next best thing". In the soviet version he calls her his sister which i guess is better then the original book where he treats her like a fucking dog. Even after him failing to live up to her expectations. When given the chance to kill him and return to the sea. She doesn't. Because even now she loves him. And even now she would rather die then kill the one she loves. Then she dies. To be fair she didn't just turn into sea foam she also turned into an angel and gets to go to heaven unlike every other mermaid whose soul ceases to exist after she dies. So it isn't all a loss. They dont call hans CHRISTIAN Anderson for nothin.

It's insane thinking how much the story has been bastardised by disney. I haven't seen the 1989 little mermaid. Or at least if I have I don't remember it. But point being, whether you have seen it or not it is kinda the default version of the little mermaid you think about. Even though it kinda ignores the trajedy of the story. The entire element of the mermaid believing that no matter what her "true love" will win in the end. Only for everything she hoped for to crumble around her. But then you go watch the disney version and get told "no, actually. Ariel gets everythign she ever dreamed of and ends the movie signifigantly better off. The woman the prince was gonna amrry was actually and UGLY and FAT woman in disguise who he murders in cold blood. I will have to actually watch the disney little mermaid to make a more educated analysis. But point being with all this: I don't like it. Something ironic about how the little mermaid 1968 makes fun of the story being kinda shaved down into a more appropriate/child friendly version. Long before the movie which did that most would come out. But also that is kinda the whole disney shtick. Take a fairy tale about tough morals and trajedy and shave off everything you think would scare kids.

The live acrion little mermaid movie would kick ass if they ended it like the original and had ariel get cucked and turned into sea foam.

the person talking abt how they have to hide being queer from their family just like same that hit home so hard, and also same to learning so much abt queer history I started learning from harry and louis (through the bears bc of course, duh) and I took up reading the books rbb and sbb hv had on them and hv been mentioned (judy garland!!) anyway so I learnt sooo much more than like I knew existed? idk if that makes sense and it also made me realise that i hv a lot of internalised homophobia and it does feel incredibly lonely sometimes, because I hv no friends that are out and proud and the group of ppl at my school who are, are so nice and friendly and polite and i love talking to them in the hallways or in class when we get paired up but im so scared of like actually integrating myself into their crowd (the one time i tired to attend a meeting I had a panic attack in the bathroom) and i dont know why im telling u all this

and I dont think ppl fully understand what its like everywhere else in the world because im never going to forget this one time at a party where a girl and her girlfriend got shouted and leered at by all those boys (and their girlfriends who just let it happen, I've literally heard one of those girls talk abt how amazing it is to have a gay best friend) and how when one of them responded back by telling them off for their disgusting behaviour the boys physically started approaching them in a threatening manner

theres also these rumours that circulate sometimes abt why some ppl arent coming to school for days at a time and when they do finally show up they're slightly bruised and its bc [insert person] did smth to them and so many ppl will just casually throw into the conversation their sexuality, like everyone will be talking abt what happened and what they heard and some random dumbass will quip "I heard they're gay" and they'll whisper it, like its forbidden or smth and everyone will nod their heads like yes I understand now, like it fucking makes sense that this happened and it makes me want to punch someone

and its so fucking scary to think abt how these things just happen and ppl pretend they dont see it and everytime someone tells me i can trust an adult i think of the 3 teachers who all passed by a student who was very rainbow (it was pride month) and watched some dude basically bang his shoulder into him and the dude laughed and walked away when the guy in rainbow tripped and they did nothing

and online I see so many ppl talk abt how its ok to be gay in all these big cities and how everyone so open now! and everythigns ok! and yay to gay! gay ppl are privileged! fucking bullshit I say

because all these memories of horrific things come to mind evertyime someone says that and I dont know where ppl are getting the idea its ok everywhere now

and the first time I heard a group of ppl talk abt harry styles in a dress on the cover of vogue i got so excited bc i had secretly gone out and bought my younger brother (he likes to wear dresses and nail polish) a copy and how I had done that so damn discreetly and how damn hard it was to get it to him through my parents to him, it was so exciting and we were !!! jumping for joy and the next day at school some girl by the lockers and she called him queer like it was an insult and that got so deep in my soul and its still there, the way she said it, the way she phrased it

and im sorry this is so long ik that persons post wasnt even abt how ppl say thats 'its cool to be gay now' and that it still very much isnt but it got that out of me and u dont hv to read all this im just having a bad day im sorry :((

you're right, the world has not caught up at all, it's a nonexistent reality that being queer has been accepted, let alone embraced everywhere. hell, i live in brussels and if i hold a girl's hand we're gaped at. when i first wore my pride pin on my bag i was terrified. when i lived in my smaller town growing up it was very much like how you describe it (tho less violent, thankfully, which really breaks my heart to read about your situation).

it can be a lonely place to grow up, and really hateful, and you saying you have a lot of internalised homophobia also hits home for me. i'm still unlearning every day. it's all the hostility surrounding us that makes us conform so as not to be the target of it, yk. nothing to ever be ashamed of, bc it's not our fault we were raised to hate ourselves.

same with the queer ppl in your neighborhood, don't be ashamed of being afraid. take your time, go at your own pace, and slowly take some steps towards them. it'll be worth your while, but i know it can be scary. be kind to yourself above all <3

The question about Sasha blame got me thinking... is it really her fault? Yes, I agree, the people in JK's corner may come to blame her a bit, but today I'll share an interaction I had with a work colleague.

I lamented the amount of time another colleague devotes to others and to her workload and said, "I hope she has time for herself. Does she take time to do that?"

My colleague replied, "I don't know what she does in her personal life, but she's an adult."

Yes, I think to an extent people are responsible for the hurt they cause other people. The actions that person takes after that? Idk. Jungkook, if he's going to be quick to point out to everyone that he's an adult, he also has to take responsibility for his actions, even if he's in pain and hurt. Same goes for Sasha, who will likely go through a lot of self-suffering when she looks back on this time. And guilt, if others blame her for JK's post-break-up spiral. I think it will be interesting to see if she is cut the necessary slack that she was also deeply in inner turmoil at the time and that he's an adult who's able to make his choices for himself, good, bad or inbetween. Regardless, the interpersonal dynamics of all this fall out and recovery is going to be so interesting.

There are definitely no simple answers to this overall, though individual people most likely have their stance. Blame is a really tricky thing when it comes to mental illness. There may be extenuating circumstances, but there also consequences; there may be cycles that can't help but be repeated, but there are also clear efforts or no efforts made to improve. I have had people in my life or even myself who check all of these boxes, and have also had to evaluate that decision of: how do I love and support this person but also how do I protect my own needs and limits?

It's hard! And untangling this is one reason I've warned people it's not like there's just a chapter coming up where suddenly everythign is ok and all is forgiven. Regardless of the reason, a lot of trust has been or is being eroded, not just for JK and Sasha but the people around them, based on both their actions but also the way others react to the things they are doing. Maybe/hopefully that's comforting to know we don't just jump skip over actually dealing with the consequences, but first we have to get to a healthier place than we are, that's for sure.

I’m wanting to know, even though I like posts, submit an ask for blurb events or just submit an ask in general either as my profile or anon, that drawing too lol and I sometimes even share your writing with people I know. Is there any other way I can support you as a creator?❤️

oh my gosh this is such a lovely thing for you to ask and it really means a lot that you care about what i (and others) create that you want to help!! Also thank you for being patient and waiting for a reply - i wanted to wait until i was able to properly sit down and think about this one because theres a lot I could say. As it is this got kinda long and I really hope it makes sense. There’s probably more I could say but this gets at the main bits I think. 

The TL;DR of it is that what you’re already doing is absolutely amazing but the biggest thing that will help creators is sharing their work! 

And the rest of my thoughts are under the cut

So firstly, I just reblogged this post which talks about lurkers and I do agree with it to an extent! It isn’t always easy to comment or interact with someone’s post and like I love everyone who takes the time to click on anything I’ve written, even if they don’t tell me they clicked on it. Sometimes as a creator you can get caught up in how many notes your posts get but it’s important to remember that notes aren’t really That important. They’re a good way of measuring interest but theres probably people interested that you can’t see and that’s okay! So what you’re already doing is really so much more than I could ever ask for!! 

But. I think it is also equally true that fandom content creators are struggling to be seen at the moment, especially regarding fics and especially in a fandom like the queen/borhap one which isn’t as big as it was 2 years ago after the movie was released. We are a relatively small fandom!! Certainly smaller than when I first joined. And the thing is, creators aren’t obligated to make things. They make things because they want to and they love it but it can be incredibly discouraging when it feels like no one cares. I write for you guys as much as I write for myself. If I just wrote for myself I wouldn’t bother editing and positing things, I’d just store them on my computer or maybe turn them into self published novels or something idk. And so I think supporting content creators (of all sorts, but im obviously speaking from a fic writer point of view) is incredibly important to keep this fandom going.

I think the biggest thing creators on tumblr struggle with is being seen. So the best way to help creators is to share their stuff! Likes are great for letting the OP know that you saw their stuff and liked it (or saved it for later), comments and requests and messages and all that are great for letting a creator know that you Enjoy what they make and want to see more of it or that you want to be friends with them and believe me i fucking adore getting asks and replies! It really makes my day when someone tells me they’re excited for something I’m working on or that they had an idea and think i’d do it justice (as long as they’re polite and not demanding about it) or just that they read something I wrote and it made them smile! But if we’re talking about helping content creators then there is one thing that helps above everythign else and that is sharing their work. Reblog it or link friends to it or whatever, just share it.

The tagging system on this website is finicky at best and that makes it difficult to get your fic seen by people who don’t follow you. The last two fics I posted didn’t show up in the tags i use and I cannot for the life of me work out why. I checked for ~inappropriate language~ in the tags and there was none, i didn’t link to outside websites, i did everything the exact same way as normal and it still didn’t work. Which means that I’m relying on the people that follow me and see the fic to pass it on to others. Not to brag but I have roughly 1700 followers (give or take some inactive/spam blogs). If every single one of them reblogged it and got 1 of their followers to see it then it would have reached 3400 people, or twice as many. Obviously that isn’t going to happen and it’s unrealistic to expect that. But by sharing a fic with one person you make a big difference! It means that one extra person saw it and had a chance to respond to it!

Now obviously not everyone feels comfortable reblogging fanfics, especially smutty rpf fanfics, on their main blog and thats totally fine! But if you make friends in the fandom and can say “hey did you see illfoandillfie’s latest fic” and link them then that’s really great! Or start an anonymous sideblog that you use solely for sharing fics you read! That’s how I started this blog! I’d been on tumblr for literally 10 years and I felt like my followers wouldn’t appreciate being inundated with rpf smut (especially when people i was friendly with were kinda anti rpf fics) so I started a sideblog to reblog fics I liked and post a few of my own! 

From your message it sounds like you’re already doing a lot to try and help me as a creator and that is incredible! Don’t feel you have to do anything more than what you’re comfortable with. And I do want to acknowledge that, while this fandom has shrunk a bit, I do feel like it’s more interactive than before! My fics don’t get quite as many notes as they used to but I feel like more people comment on them and give me feedback and that is so unbelievably valuable!! I can’t stress how important every little thing is, anything that can let creators know you see them and see the time and effort they’re putting in.

I’ve read this post in the #elite tag, sadly I couldn’t like or reblog it cause my phone was dying down a moment after I read it 😩. But it was about Nadia and Guzman how they are soulmates and how now that Nadia is going to study in New York and Guzman has to stay one more year at Las Encinas because he has been expelled and needs to repeat the year... that they both would know that now that it is what it is, that also need that time apart to heal and wether it will take 2 years, 5 years or more they will find their way back to each other.

As beautiful as this sounds and they indeed need some time to heal. Real live isn’t that romantic!

Do we really believe that if it’s going to take them years to find their way back to another, that inbetween things possibly haven’t changed? They haven’t changed? That they would have stayed alone the wohle time?

No! That’s not how it will be! Not after all they have been trough! How Nadia had to hurt herself in those month before graduation and Guzman as well to understand, that they can build up a live together, which they actually already have!

As much as I love those 2 voice messages, how Guzman tells her, that he is waiting for her and she tells him that she will come to him and they both cry, making me cry as well 😭.... they are also missleading is in a very bad way.

Cause as beautiful as their words are, very poetic, Guzman’s are also very sad because he tells her, “if she would ever come back”, which means that of course he is hoping that she would come back... but somehow he isn’t really sure that she would?

So do thoese words fit? To a boy who wanted to run away with her? Who did everything for her! Who has been always there, even when she was pushing him away, never giving up! Who would have gone to New York with her, if he wouldn’t have been expelled or maybe he wouldn’t have and studied insteed in Oxford for example where Marina wanted to go after graduating.

No! Their words as poetic as they are didn’t fit them and their situation.

Guzman would have been at the airport to say godbye to Nadia, Lu and Omar. He is not there because Omar was about to leave with Nadia for New York and Guzman didn’t wanted to leave Ander alone when he was getting his test results. Otherwise he would have been there, alongsite Nadia’s family, her father who forgave Omar, the gay son. Guzman was working in the shop for Nadia and I’m sure that her father must have at least started to change his mind over him.

These kids are young and mordern, they have everythign to stay in contact and Guzman enough money to visit Nadia as often as possoble. When Lu is getting the message, that Guzman is staying with Ander, she also says that they will get the info about test results as soon as they land. So yes, they will continue to stay in contact and why not? They are all friends now, they have covered Polo’s death for Lu and without that she wouldn’t be in New York, only Nadia if she would have gone after all that happened alone.

And let’s not forget how it was Nadia, who came to talk to Guzman in the club, cause by the time they have graduated she finally knows what she wants and that's Guzman, which is not changing just because she is in New York now.

So again as beautiful it was to see them, leaving this messages for one another. Guzman being at the airport would have been the better way of ending their story in this season.
