I'm sure Valentino still has a Marc helmet that he could never bring himself to throw away. He tried many times but never really could, so he has it hidden somewhere in the big white mansion he lives in. Whenever he gets a sudden wave of nostalgia, he always goes and checks on it. Maybe one day, Giulietta, while playing, finds it and starts touching it, admiring the colors. Vale finds her trying to put the helmet on herself, and he gets all panicked about it.

volgin & thunderstorms

memes aside ; volgin really is terrified of thunderstorms.

my headcanon is that his lightning powers come from having been experimented on as a young man ( around his mid 20s, after his boxing career but before his military career ) & the experiments were brutal. he was frequently electrocuted to test how much he could withstand and when he finally gained control of his own powers - even setting off lightning himself would result in him being electrocuted / heavily wounded.

this made him initially very scared of his own powers & lightning as a whole.

anyone can tell you, when you feel some sort of pain - it isn't something you want to experience again. in particular, if it's traumatic - you'll develop a fear of going through it again. for volgin, this was the case.

more-so when he experienced his first thunderstorm and got electrocuted so badly, it gave him the scars that run across the front of his face. now, he fears thunderstorms. all too aware of the damage that they can do to him.

at the end of mgs3, when he decides to brave a storm in order to catch snake - it isn't necessarily that he wants to face it - it's that his hand is forced. by this stage, he essentially knows that it's a suicide mission but, if he doesn't get snake back - he'd probably face a fate worse than death.

unfortunately for volgin, shit still goes south & he still ends up with a fate worse than death, becoming the man on fire.
