I have an Idea what if Jaune is harem protagonist that doesn't want to be one? Like no matter how much he tries women keep falling for him while he just trying to be a huntsman. The idea is based off the Yo-kai Watch fanfiction "The Unwanted Harem Of Nathan Adams" by Black_Omochao on Archiveofourown
NOPE... NAW... NEY...NAH... NO!!!
Jaune: THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT MOM!!
Jaune's Mom: What could you ever be accusing me of, darling?
Jaune didn't answer as his attention was taken by evading and countering the frenzied grab of his partner... the one and only Pyrrha Nikos.
Jaune: YOU FUCKING WELL...
Jaune's Mom: LANGUAGE! I taught you better than that, young man!
Pyrrha: 💕Jaune 💕 I love you! (ACK! HACK! CHOKE! COUGH!)
Jaune backs away a spray bottle held before him. A spray bottle filled with Ice Dust infused water. A spray bottle he just used to hit his overly grabby partner in the face with.
Jaune: You KNEW I was holding out for my one true love, and yet you had to publicly release... that... that FILTH!
Jaune's Mom: Your baby pictures are not filth!
Jaune: They are when they make women go psycho for me!
Jaune's Mom: You're getting older, as am I... you're training for a VERY dangerous profession... can you... really blame me?
Jaune: YES I FUCKING CAN!
Jaune's Mom: LANGUAGE! You are NOT too big for you to put over my knee, young man!
Pyrrha had shaken off the effects of the icy cold mist and was once again preparing to close on her prey. With his scroll cradled between his shoulder and his ear, Jaune frantically twisted the nozzle...
Pyrrha: 💕Jaune 💕... AHHHH!!!!!! COLD!!!! COLD!!!
Pyrrha danced about JNPR's dorm room holding her chest... Jaune having scored a direct hit to her cleavage.
Jaune's Mom: That is NOT the way to treat your future wife Jaune!
Jaune: No... It's the only way I'll be able to keep my chastity until I GET MARRIED!!!
Jaune's Mom: Married. Smarried. I was expecting Spahron by the time your block-headed father finally asked me to marry him.
Jaune: Expecting... Saphron? But she's like the third eldest? Did you baby trap Dad?
Jaune's Mom: No. Good Heavens why would you suggest something like that? I'm your mother, and I love you father and all my babies... almost as much as I'll love all the grandbabies...
Jaune: If you want grandbabies... ask my sisters!
Jaune's Mom: I plan to... however my dear, darling, dense as lead son... you... can... give... me... more... much... faster... capeesh?
Pyrrha: 💕Jaune 💕... AHHH!!! NOT AGAIN!!! COLD!!! COLD!! COLD!!
Jaune: I am not jumping into the bed with every baby-crazed girl you send my way mom! I'm not!
Jaune's Mom: Oh, honey... they're coming whether you like it or not...
KNOCK... KNOCK... KNOCK... KNOCK... KNOCK...
Weiss: 💕Jaune 💕
Ruby: 💕Jaune 💕
Blake: 💕Jaune 💕
Yang: 💕Jaune 💕
Velvet: 💕Jaune 💕
Coco: 💕Jaune 💕
Goodwitch: 💕Jaune 💕
Cinder: 💕Jaune 💕
Emerald: 💕Jaune 💕
Octavia: 💕Jaune 💕
Dew: 💕Jaune 💕
Nebula: 💕Jaune 💕
Gwen: 💕Jaune 💕
Ciel: 💕Jaune 💕
Neon: 💕Jaune 💕
Reese: 💕Jaune 💕
Arslan: 💕Jaune 💕

Raven: 💕Jaune 💕
Militia: 💕Jaune 💕
Mel: 💕Jaune 💕
Winter: 💕Jaune 💕
Elm: 💕Jaune 💕
Harriet: 💕Jaune 💕
Willow: 💕Jaune 💕
Atlas Moms: 💕Jaune 💕
Jaune: Gods preserve me...
Pyrrha: 💕Jaune 💕
In the corner Ren and Nora are seated on Ren's bed with Neo, watching the unfolding chaos. Small slips of paper being passed between them.
Nora: Neo says she has 200 on him reaching the bullhead docks.
Ren: I say 300 for him only reaching the front doors.
The dorm room door crumbles allowing all of Jaune's "suitors" entrance...
Nora: Well I say 500 for just the win...
SHATTER!!! CRASH!!!
ALL the Girls: 😱JAUNE!!! 😱
Nora: Crap baskets! I lost.
All the girls vanish in a whirl of dust, papers and loose clothes.
Ren: I understand why Nora's not part of that group, but you seem...
Neo (Typing on her scroll) Oh, I want him too... I just prefer the long game, besides I need money to get a proper dress.
Ren: Ah. So Bullhead?
Neo: (Typing on her scroll) No, change that. 1000 that he reaches Vale.
Jaune's Mom: (From Jaune's discarded scroll on the floor) Jaune? Jaune? Are you there? DO not be giving me the silent treatment young man! If you're not talking you BETTER be busy putting babies in those lovely young women... Jaune? Are you there? Anyone?
/==/
A/N: I think I missed the mark, but hey... it got me writing. 😁😁Thanks for the ask. Hope you enjoy.

I don't think it's commented on enough how good RWBY is at writing men which I suppose it comes with being a female-centric show with a cast that consists of 90% women. Think about how Qrow Branwen is basically the single coolest guy alive and he raises the ambient cool level of every room by a factor of ten just by walking in but he's also allowed to be just a deeply, deeply hurt man dragging around unimaginable self loathing. There's this philosophy to a lot of male-oriented media I hate where a man's pain is what makes him cool. It's not there to be examined or addressed or to get us to sympathize with him it's there just to be endured because scowling and being miserable all the time is what deeply insecure people think is badass. There's a meaningful difference with how Qrow is written. His pain is not character building, it drives him to bad places and makes him vulnerable and the other characters see that vulnerability and are there to support him when he needs it. Despite what Qrow himself might think, he isn't diminished by this in any sense. It's treated in the show as the most normal thing in the world and I think in a media landscape that was better about men and vulnerability it probably should be. If anything Qrow's reluctance to accept emotional support for fear of being a burden is the thing he's criticized for. Just another very cool thing about a show I love.

Actually I disagree, not even personally but Jaune being removed would improve the show tenfold.
Allow me to explain: (Long post ahead, you know me.)
First off remember that RWBY originally was a female empowerment show, so jaune having his own arc where we focus on "some guy" instead of the title characters spits in the face of this idea- a "anime" or show made for the female gaze of women being badass warriors is rare especially for the time it was introduced.
Second Jaune arc is based off real life Joan of arc and a poor representation of the murdered saint. It be like making idk Chris Pratt and anime girl and then making them the WORST. If this is suppose to be female empowerment, why even make Jaune a dude besides the writer wanted to self insert his OC in something he frankly should of stayed out of.
Jaune didn't ruin the show (he didn't help it either.) what ruined the show was poor money management, poor, writing, egotism , racism, Anti-LGBT, Ableism, refusing to take criticism, lazy writers, Lack of forward thinking and planning and the list can go on, but I agree it wasn't Jaune.
And before I get into the knitty gritty; if Jaune was removed and it was just Ren, who cares? Again this was suppose to be a female empowerment show! And there's plenty female led shows and media with small male cast: Sailor moon, Steven universe, Land of the lustrous, totally spies. for games: Nier automata, Bayonetta, Portal, life is strange the list goes on! I'm sure if Jaune was removed Ren could handle the bunk of being the few~
Let's talk about some things Jaune did and why removing him wouldn't be the end of the world.
Volume 1- Jaune's whole thing that is suppose to make him interesting is that he somehow got his hands on fake papers to sneak into beacon because "This is all I ever wanted to be." He then proceeds to hold his classmates back by refusing to study, sleeping through classes and when Pyrrha supposedly a woman who wont tournaments 3 years in a row (which would mean she was 14 when she went into her first hunters training and was allowed to fight teams by herself or has a team she just doesn't mention?)
Jaune's laziness and pride (you can't be both lazy and prideful, that just makes you insufferable) holds his team back and there's never any push-back from Ren and Nora who were homeless and obviously worked hard to get here. He doesn't wanna get better at fighting or studying despite wanting this so badly.
[Sokka accompanying post]
This doesn't change till he thinks he kills a grimm on his own terms, then he got serious (Pyrrha literally didn't tell him he didn't block the grim attack so he'd get his shit together. OR she's into him, confusing writing.)
Vol- 2 he almost outs Blake that she's a faunus before Pyrrha shuts him up.
He stalks and confines the ugly little racist gremlin Weiss in a roo, which is a very real and threatening thing women have to deal with, no one wants to see it in their escapist fantasy that a guy reuses to accept no for an answer and when he says he'll stop- Weiss opens the door and he says "I lied" What a gentleman, stalks and creeps on women, behavior that's gotten real women killed btw.
Vol- 3 Jaune doesn't suck as much here as he just doesn't do what he's told- if Jaune protected the glass or called Glynda, Irowood or Qrow like Ozpin asked, cinder would of been passed tense and Pyrrha would still be alive.
But he calls ruby then throws his phone for no reason? I mean all it would take to fix that scene is have it either be low charge so he could only make that one call, or when the locker crashed it broke the scroll so it wouldn't last past the first call but he wouldn't know till it happens.
But the problem with vol 1-3 is that because it spends alot of time with Jaune, the title characters RWBY barely get any character growth and the other side characters get zero screen-time (because miles got pissed that people didn't like the jaune arc, threw a tantrum and punished us by refusing to make more character focused arcs cause is pet oc didn't get the circle jerk he wanted.)
If Jaune wasn't in the series or was Joan (so he couldn't self insert) then we'd probably at the very least get better written characters. Okay moving on!
Vol- 4 Jaune for some reason got Pyrrha's remains and instead of giving them to her parents decides on his behalf to melt them down and incorporate them into HIS gear, Ren and Nora get nothing and never protest that he should give it to her parents. (I mean it could of still ended with them taking maybe Pyrrha's tiara and letting Jaune have the rest then Pyrrha's stepdad (the blacksmith) could soup up jaune's gear.
We think Ruby's gonna get development when she dreams about Pyrrha but she just wakes up so the scene could switch to Jaune and the commentary track states that she wakes up so the scene could be about "making jaune cool" Ruby didn't even need to wake up for that! Also why not give RUBY THE COOL SCENES!? SHE WATCHED PYRRHA DIE, LET HER TRAIN IN PAIN AT NIGHT!
My favorite part of volume 4 is that they consistently ignore Jaune's strategist plans, he tells them to knock away the limbs on the geist and then the body and ruby goes "I'ma just throw the strongest party member at it and kill it one hit." Then when the team is circling the nuck, he stops them, they look at him and he tells them to circle him and they just ignore him to continue what they're doing and Jaune takes credit I assume.
Jaune also spends the entire arc turning to ruby while her uncle is dying and he saved her going "your uncle should die." Btw Jaune when ruby was about to get stabbed by Tyrian just sat there and closed his eyes- I saw this bitch charge a nevermore without a weapon for pyrrha but not for the first friend who spoke to him on the first day? You suck Jaune, you have a shield and "alot of aura"
vol- 5 Miles lies to us and says that his semblance isn't healing he just gives them more Aura which Aura heals minor wounds remember; and just covers Weiss impalement wound, she needs a hospital, aura can't heal a spear through the body!
He also takes away Ruby's fight with cinder, he should of fought leo, not the 14 year old farm boy they kidnapped.
vol- 6 he puts a hole in his sister's wall and never apologizes (good god you're a guest here!) Then assaults a 14 year old farm boy because of the ghost possessing him. Oscar should of legit ran away and they should of never seen him again, they treat him like garbage, why did qrow punch him? Why did yang pull out her weapons, blake and weiss too, were they gonna stab or kill this kid because Ozpin was in him and they didn't like him? Rope him up, weiss has glyphs for this, this shows abusive.
Jaune also gets a solo scene with Pyrrha's mom telling him it was okay that she sacrificed herself for him because...shrug, Ruby never gets this closure despite seeing her die...AGAIN!
Vol-7/8 Milfs would never be into Jaune, he's such an plain character design and he's 17, this is some wish fulfillment crap
vol- 9
Jaune is turned into a 50-60 year old man that creepily watches over some creatures he doesn't understand and names one after Pyrrha and then gets pissed they wanna get away from him as fast as possible (They suicide and then come back better what the FUCK are you writing down there!?) and blames a 17 year old for his faults and is never challenged by anyone. HE'S MENTALLY 50-60! He's blaming and yelling at a child!
Then to make matters creepier, the tree makes him LOOK younger but doesn't alter his memories at all (evident from him saying how he missed looking and feeling young) but still keeps him mentally old, thus ruining any chances of him finding love. (which I approve of frankly) Seriously just say that the tree remade him and he was reborn and when he ask "what happened" just say a bad dream.
-----
So yeah Jaune adds nothing to the show and just takes away time from valuable things, frankly Jaune could of exited the show in volume 6 and it been impactful and make sense character wise.
They messed up the robot that the little racist gremlin (NO NOT WEISS THIS TIME ANOTHER SHORT WHITE HAIRED RACIST!) Controlled and Jaune, Ren and Nora could of stayed behind to help, I can see Jaune looking at the statue of Pyrrha and then to his sister and her wife and then saying "We'll help hold them back, we'll catch up with you guys when things calm down." And it could be suspenseful and emotional cause you could go ' What happened? did they survive? Are they okay?' Maybe Maria could stay with them (cause she doesn't do shit in vol 7/8) and it solve the character bloat of the series as well.
Jaune being removed could actually make the show better AND make the female empowerment show more compelling, actually give the characters proper screen-time and maybe get the writer to focus on something else besides "Making Jaune cool" It's called RWBY.
Not JAUNE, make your own series if you wanted SAO with a white guy.
I hope that clears everything up, thanks for sticking with me.

Man, there's an entire fucking industry of neckbeards on YouTube that devote themselves to malding about how every little aspect of RWBY is fundamentally cringe and boring, from the things that make the series' aesthetic what it is to bullshit like trying to to imply that villainous characters are in the moral right for attempted genocide.
Meanwhile, those same shit-slurping bottom-feeders will happily sing the praises of [insert shounen anime here] that does the exact same thing, often to a far greater extreme. They'll harp on and on about Bakugou or Sasuke or literally any other Edgy McFightyMan about how DeEP AnD muLTifacEteD he is... when they'd be called a Mary Sue in an instant if they were female, or even worse, made by a Western creator.
They'll gleefully gobble the mass-produced slop that they fill their trough with and gloat about how the overarching plot of the current popular thing is sooooo unbelievably timeless... when said plot is just the same bog-standard shit as in all shounen. The System is Perfect and Flawless, and anybody who dissents is a faceless mass of generic pure evil and is morally acceptable to murder/hospitalize en masse; any antagonists that abuse the rules of the establishment for their own gain are doubly Impure and Sinful for the crime of tainting the Perfect System. It doesn't take long for the original message to get buried as the authors of these works are put through the grinder to stretch out the story as much as possible to meet the lethally high standards of the manga industry, corporate overhead demanding that everything be smothered beneath marketable trends that the unwashed masses prefer to consume.
This shit isn't subtext, it's just borderline text - but point that out, and you get barraged by hordes of shrieking consoomers incensed that you dared to suggest anything being wrong with the current Popular Thing that they've decided is the next timeless work of art... at least until the next Popular Anime comes along and they toss it aside with the rest, eager to start consooming the next batch of fresh slop.
Wonder why that happens? Wonder what feature makes RWBY's cast so deeply offensive to this sea of interchangeable milquetoast 'reviewers' that makes blindly consooming this ultra-masculine crap their entire personality? Hmmmmmmm, I wonder.

Post like the the "you couldn't even handle [insert infamously hated female character here]" get me thinking about claims like what they quote.
To start with those claiming we need more [blank] female characters will often be the same that agree that there's a cultural stigma against girls who will "step out of line" socially and how that's been leveraged against female characters enmass.
Though it's also interesting to think about the other group this claim will come from. Namely those who carry their unconscious biases against "badly written" female characters but act as if they don't.
See, they can handle evil, comical or even morally grey female characters... in their minds. They love the hypothetical strong female character in their heads. Detached from any narrative context. No other characters, male especially, for them to foil off of. Nothing to "ruin" them as it were.
Korra, the character, had initially been received well at the idea of a female protagonist leading a new Avatar series. However, when applied to an actual story and cast of characters to bounce off of, you better believe that a lot of people busted out the "unlikable" card like it was Exodia's Head.
RWBY's practically the poster child. Each Trailer showed off a dimension of the four leading ladies with a lot of blanks to be filled in later. Whatever one thinks how the series lived up to the hype or not, a lot of the hatedom seems to express that they only wanted the girls to be the basic traits we saw initially.
Ruby, a smol bean of cuteness.
Weiss, a prissy ice queen with a snide aside at the ready.
Blake, a "naturally submissive" goth who totally still loved Adam.
Yang, a party girl of a bimbo and a dumb blonde.
None of these were all the characters were. Not even in the Trailers. Yet those comfy assumptions devoid of the narrative context of a Magic School for Warrior or a Final Fantasy globe-trotting epic appealed to the male geek in our brain.
That's no even getting into how individual taste factors into it. Not to make this reply any longer but if I have to see another godforesaken YouTube video about Mary Sues or "how to write female characters" or how Arcane is somehow this exception from "the rule" in modern animation... I'll do something not very nice.
So... yeah.

I completely understand why people hate Jaune from how he acts in canon, how he has too much screentime, to how he's portrayed as Chad Thundercock by fanfic writers, to how he's the writer's pet.
I get that but I still like the CANON character because currently as of right now whenever it's just team RWBY, shit is just boring. Blake lost some braincells somewhere in Menagerie and now is nothing more than a damsel in distress who needs Yang and Ruby to save her, Weiss never does shit besides threaten her little brother and drink tea in her mansion, Yang's too busy babying Ruby while making kissy faces with Blake, and Ruby's crying every two seconds about having some burden placed on her shoulders when NO ONE has done that. They had 5 whole episodes just to themselves in volume 9 and it was BORING SLOP. Ruby and Weiss never got to talk about Penny's death all of it was off-screen. Weiss never got to talk about the guilt she feels from letting Atlas fall. Shit only picked up once Neo and Jaune came into the story. But that's really because KERRY, EDDY, and MILES don't know how to write the female characters.
I like the blonde's blind optimism. I like how he treated Jessica in the movie helping some kid through her anxiety is great I just don't get why no one else volunteered to do the same. I especially like how human he comes off with him basically helping the community with small time shit. He's just consistently a good guy a boring one but a good guy nonetheless.
It also helps that his cut reminds me of Laios from Delicious in Dugeon.
Yeah, a lot of people like to blame RWBY's lackluster main cast development/characterization on Jaune eating up screentime. But the core problem is that CRWBY just seemed to struggle with juggling a huge cast of characters.
Which is odd, because Early RvB had a huge cast that all were handled pretty well.
Let's be honest, plenty of characters besides just Jaune eat up screentime. Pyrrha got loredumped on and is one of the main focuses of Volume 3, all while Team RWBY just kinda dicked around Vytal for most of the season.
Look at the WF subplot. Jaune wasn't stealing spotlight on that at all; CRWBY was just terrible at writing "le racism" and decided to drop it by Vol 6 because they realized how much they sucked at it.
The only reason Weiss is sometimes deemed the best out of the other 3 members of her team is because she's the only one with a tangible character arc and development. Even then CRWBY choked in the end on that too.
Jaune went from pretty bad, to solid, to kinda bad again but not as bad. Team RWBY aren't underdeveloped because of him, they're underdeveloped because the way they've been handled is just incompetent. If you cut him from the show entirely the problem would be blamed on some other character.

So @matt0044 tagged me in a good post discussing some of the massive double standards experienced by women in media. In brief:
Men are allowed to be unlikable and even the fucking worst and will get mountains of meta about their emotional complexity and goodness.
In contrast, a woman cant so much as turn down a man she's not interested in, or be negatively impacted by trauma without being demonized.
Unsurprisingly a lot of this plays into RWDE's "Critique" of RWBY. IE, how they'll ignore Qrow and Jaune outright assaulting Oscar, but insist Yang attacked him because she was angry at Ozpin.
It also made me think of a recent 'complaint' regarding the excellent Sousou No Frieren. After the introduction of third main character Stark, someone said:
"To bad the author forgets about him after this."
Which flabbergasted me, as I knew the very next episode/chapter were were gonna get more of his backstory, motives ad emotional depth. I also knew of upcoming battles where he's every bit as much of a major character as fellow MC Fern. Let alone more stuff to come regarding backstory and old foes ETC.
But then it hit me.
Stark isn't somehow getting less attention than the women in the cast, he's getting the same amount. But to this person, this was him being forgotten about and maligned, because he was on the same playing field focus wise as women.
Which is rather akin to how most men perceive women as talking too much or over them if they speak the same amount.
Which also ties back into RWBY and how a lot of RWDE flip out about a female centric show... Focusing on women, and not their favorite male projection character who wasn't even advertised as an MC.

Could I ask what you think about Raven Branwen as a character and her role in the story?
Raven Branwen was an ideal counterpart antagonist to Yang Xiao Long and should have gone on to be her most direct villain rather than Adam filling that role.
A lot of people get too caught up in discourse about RWBY and end up twisting one of the few things it did reasonably well, which was its treatment of Yang's biological parents, Taiyang (flawed individual who dealt with a lot of shit and as a result fell down on parenting, but seems to have healed and stepped up since) and Raven (cowardly and self-serving bandit who left people who loved her rather than step up at all). I do not think Taiyang is a bad parent, I think Raven most definitely is, and I think Raven was the perfect person to contrast the core of Yang's character (inner strength that drives a person to be loving and warm).
The only real flaw in their confrontation in Volume 5 is that it happens far too soon; Raven deserved to blossom into a complete antagonist and have more than one skirmish with Yang as the person who defies everything she stands for, who indirectly made her who she is.
I have this problem a lot with RWBY stans and even RWBY antis; they do not seem to understand that the point of female characters is not to be good or to be redeemed; the point of female characters is the exact same as the point of male ones, which in the end is just to be interesting. Cinder did not need a tragic backstory and Emerald did not need redemption; both of these aspects of the show were forced, ill-timed, and generally unnecessary as these two characters were more entertaining as straightforward villainesses.
The same goes for Raven. Her cold and shrewd nature with her self-serving personality makes her a much more enjoyable antagonist to watch than the likes of other villains like Jacques or Tyrian or, god forbid, Hazel. Adam may have chopped off Yang's arm, but Adam isn't the one who gave Yang attachment issues, he just worsened them. Raven is the one who had the chance to be a part of a functioning family and had people who needed her, and threw it away. This point is used to contrast her against Qrow many times, so I know the show writers see the general shape of it and could've used it better. Raven is the one who casts a shadow over Yang in the present day and should have continued to hang over her head as an enemy she would one day need to clash against a final time.
Let women be evil please and thank you.

Hey, just a quick question, but what does the "pure girl" AU mean? i don't mean to sound rude, i just did a quick search on your blog and couldn't find an answer, thank you!
Oh its not rude at all! "Pure Girl AU" is an AU, made up of a mostly futa (and some male) cast...bar the titular "Pure Girl" who is as it sounds, a Pure Girl (whole female). There are two in the story so far.
Joan Arc: Innocent cinnamon roll of Beacon Academy. Cute, but has the density of iridium over what she does to people.
Cynthia Arc: Joan's Aunt (Cynthia from pokemon in looks), movie star, and porn star. Well known for sexual prowess.
There's a whole lot of sexual frustration and hijinx abound in it, so give the stories a try! I have them tagged as "Pure Girl AU" on here, and here is the AO3 series page!

What RWBY characters would most likely be models?
I could see Yang, Pyrrha, and Cinder, but I feel like I’m missing some.
I assuming you're going by looks and not inclination.
TBH the female cast of RWBY is full of attractive women who could all be models.
As to who would WANT to be a model? Just my opinion, none of them.

One of the main problems with the rwby community as a whole is cannon seeker the scum bag parasitic leech I've always wondered how someone like Canon seeker can go exist in the rwby community despite all the shit he's done over the years until I saw this
Tumblr media
The rwby community at least a portion of it with individuals such as this support seeker ( I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be seeker himself) this person paints seeker as a hero a boogyman to rwby haters as he puts it which is totally wrong seeker is a scam bag with a history of harassing stalking and stealing from people in the rwby fandom he's harrssed people like caxlyn she literally has a whole Tumblr post about her experience with him
Seeker is a 30 something white man who likes to pretend he's some social justice media warrior or some shit he likes to use big words to belittle people loves to use racism misogyny against people impersonates women of color has multiple accounts dedicated to stalking people has literally I shit you not spent thousands on tai Yang porn him fucking multiple women in the cast including his own daughters yet he loves to praise how RWBY treats it's female leads yet he reduced them to be sex objects for his favorite character tai he has stolen from people lied on people this is a man who obsessed over an Internet show to the point he's willing to defend it and flawed creators to the teeth seeker is a scumbag who attacks anyone in the fandom critic or not
To be a boogyman implies fear no one is afraid of that scumbag but fucking tired and annoyed by him there's a huge difference
Seeker will continue to do what he does because people like krypti will continue to defend him

i think what spurs on a lot of the Yuri Defensiveness is that really the only time a series has a Majority Yuri fandom is if the characters are majority women; if the series has a gender-mixed or majority male cast, yuri ships are going to be relegated to the back corner of fandom. this means stuff like the locked tomb or rwby is pretty safe from yuri ships becoming rarepairs, but stuff like dungeon meshi, which has maybe a 60-40 men-to-women ratio, is perceived as being in constant danger of being overtaken by m/m ships. you might say, "well why is that an issue? isn't gay shipping gay shipping?" but tbh i think we can all agree that shipping rarepairs sucks, and the thing with yuri is that you can ship two main characters together, but if those two main characters are women, man a/man b is always gonna overtake them no matter the canonicity or the significance of those characters.
i will say i think concerns about this happening with dungeon meshi are somewhat overblown, and i think labru and farcille are relatively equal in popularity and show signs of staying that way. but if you see yuri fans gnashing their teeth at the prospect of their favorite series getting more popular with m/m fans, that's probably why - the "i just can't get into f/f for some reason" crowd is significantly larger than people who refuse to engage with m/m, so the more of them that get into your series of choice, the more likely it is that female characters and relationships will get ignored.

I agree a lot of weirdo Jaune fans would flip on him if he was a girl but ALSO if he was a girl all the fans that dislike him for being a kind of annoying boy would LOVE him. Girl!Jaune would be the RWBY Tumblr fandom’s favorite girlfail cringe baby (and sapphic!WK would be a WAY more popular ship)
Fair, but I think it's important to remember that Jaune's gender does kind of matter for the story he's meant to tell. Jaune is, at base level, a deconstruction of the Main Character Underdog Guy; a guy who's kind of a loser and has no special talents or remarkable qualities, but has a secret ~hidden power~ that actually makes him the most powerful character in the whole show.
But he's actually the support. He's not meant to take on the starring role or be the big hero that saves everyone. He's both figuratively and literally the support character, a deconstruction of toxic masculinity and one of the pillars of RWBY's messaging on the importance of teamwork and unity.
And really changing his gender would bungle that message lmao. Bc women are already cast as the support in the majority of anime like this, it would just kind of lose the plot and end up falling into a much more standard trope.
So like, what I'm trying to get at is that yes, people who otherwise don't like Jaune might have liked him if he were a female character. But I'd argue a big reason for that would be because the context surrounding him would be completely different. Like yeah female!Jaune flirting with Weiss would still have the same behavioral problems to address, but it wouldn't come with the context of how men often treat women like prizes to be won, aka a key reason people (including me) found WK so distasteful during volume 2.

I'm not gonna engage with every single post, person and dialogue that disagrees with my points, if you don't like them, fair, and if you wanna write a mountain in response? Also fair I over-explain alot too And I might read it, could lead to interesting things.
That being said I'm tired of arguing points with people on topics of this show, not because it challenges anything but because it's clear people either barely deep dive into this show like I do or don't read things and skip to the bottom to read your bottom line.
This take was too wild NOT to reply to though.
@knoneawe
(You know what it is, long ass shit below.)
Tumblr media
Yeah RWBY'S very empowering, like when Miles and Kerry stated how they didn't see them as four women or female but awkward teenagers and then Miles made the Tweet about Tifa vs Yang "my money's on the hot one." Or the Ruby rose body pillow, 15 year old girl on a body pillow.
The things you're telling me goes without saying, however Jaune is a stigma of doing ensemble cast WRONG, because Miles latched onto him he got way more screen-time and writing than the actual proatgonist do, Look at the Hbomberguy, video, the JelloApocoypes one, Fatmanalling, Sickslickproductions even ew...hero hei... so many people coming to the exact same conclusion of ruby and the others barely getting the time they need.
Jaune's growth is explained my my last post, if you didn't pay attention that's not my fault, but anyone who can read or watch the crappy show, Jaune's a lazy asshole , a hypocrite and a creepy stalker- the show doesn't NEED that type of character
Regarding "Strong male aliies." Which jaune isn't btw. I mentioned in my last post the many media that have strong supporting male characters, another thing that goes without saying, Jaune however adds nothing for the series another characters like ruby or some other guy could add, he's just a sad white guy they wanted to make cool and it annoys me you people latch onto like you do.
Tumblr media
My POINT here is that first off having the fairy tale inspirations didn't amount to anything, and weather or not they made it 1 to 1 they still used a real person then gender swapped them into the worst character ever. My point is no matter who- I don't care if you're the best writer on the planet, stay away from adapting real people, and I've held this stance since I saw Anime girl Ben franklin.
And my other point is that the series could of worked exactly the same if Jaune was Joan or Joann - I mean you just said the show needed strong ensemble cast members so Jaune as a woman could of still worked.
Tumblr media
No he's not an underdog, that's how Miles described him, he's a Incel. People ROOT for underdogs, even sokka his inspiration, was a kinda shit person, but Sokka gets funny jokes, he loves learning, he cares about his friends and is fiercely loyal, he gets called out and so on. You seem to be under the impression I dislike Jaune because he has flaws, and I hate Jaune cause his flaws grow, the series barely addresses them then he piles on more flaws and his behavior that would get a real person's ass beat is never grown out out. Pyrrha babies him and does all the emotional and psychical labor for this manchild.
I love that you constantly avoid his stalking btw, come on big man, point out your fave's real flaw with your chest.
Tumblr media
As I said in my other Post it's not Jaune's fault, as we go on feels like you just skimmed it. But Jaune also doesn't help it either, Again you fail to realize, Miles projected and latched onto this character, and made him the focus on a show with four title characters. I'd agree he's not the root if there was ample screen-time for the other characters to point too, but there isn't.
I keep seeing "root" thrown around but people forget that roots have many points, Jaune is just one of the issues, that being Miles imprinting on him, it continues to go without saying that a better writer could make jaune likeable, work and not take up too much time- that's not what we got in the end. And the topic at hand was that the series could work without him despite someone else saying it wouldn't and I proved it could work, can't unprove it~ ^_^
Tumblr media
NO IT DOESN'T
Jaune gets egged on constantly by Yang and Ruby that "one day you'll get her." despite constant prodding, it's not until Jaune sees her ask another guy to the dance he stops. But not before none of the girls ever tell a teacher, they never call Jaune out, none of his team ever do, Jaune just stops- you keep saying grow but I watched the show I can point to the stands and you don't show me where these measures of growth happen- remove the rose tinted glasses, your fave is terrible, creepy and the show doesn't address it in any way.
If I had to actually address it I'd have team rwby call him out, and then his own team approach him, maybe Pyrrha fall out of love with him, this behavior would of been addressed in a satisfying way. But Miles didn't see it as worth addressing, and all Jaune just is put on a dress and apologize to Pyrrha.
Dude this is dumb, you're talking down to me like I was born yesterday, I've grieved many of my friends deaths, family, other people and I never handled it by putting holes in people's walls cause you'd know how other humans would respond sir? They'd call me out, I'd have to pay for it, I'd get yelled at.
After all I watched avatar and they have very real human and emotional moments, they break down, lash out, and you don't see me having a problem with them, you know why? Cause they get resolved, people talk, the apologize, they grow, they make things better, the get called out etc!
Jaune and Miles seem allergic to even trying to say sorry, and that attitude will carry into people who like this shit show (Hell I talked to people it already has gotten that way with.) People who act like Jaune never did anything wrong ate dangerously stupid, not you them. But you see what I mean now. Accountability is what I want to see.
And if I put my hands on a child I'd get slapped some sense into, that's what should of happened. Also what are they grieving? All they learn ins their teacher is immortal and reincarnating (even though that's not reincarnation he's possessing them, there's no new birth but miles and kerry can't write and you're assuming they wrote it in the way your head thinks they did. When they didn't know what they were doing.) I'd be fine with Jaune lashing out at Oscar if again these "Imperfect humans" had an comeuppance to their actions. Oscar ends up looking up to his assaulter. There's never any fear, there's no apology, Oscar just leaves to go get new clothes and they assume he ran away like idiots- these are how people are written dude.
And many more talented people write these exact situations more believable and realistic.
Tumblr media
I've talked with my friends, at this point in RWBy Jaune has already had these exact same themes explored from volume 1-5 and now it's just an older Jaune doing this exact same shit he did again- this point he's eating up screeentime.
I ran through a scenario with my friends that instead of Jaune falling in with team RWBY it should of been the newly turned sides, Emerald, that why she's bring tension and mistrust in a world of illusions and magic that already exist. We;d see they're being tailed by a hooded figure, too far to fully make either out. We wouldn't see Ruby for a long while; It just be Yang, Blake, Weiss and Emerald looking for Ruby. Eventually Emerald would earn their trust by taking a dangerous attack for one of the girls or even using an illusion to distract something dangerous. Thus earning their trust
Eventually the hooded figure would reveal a weathered and older Ruby who could finally articulate alot of the issues she's been having, Ruby replacing Jaune would not only be way more compelling and get rid of that creepy scene of weiss lusting after him. Keep it in your pants Kerry! But Ruby has suffered more than Jaune and consistently gets sidelined in this "female empowerment show" to show up nine seasons of repeated constant manpain. (btw I'm a dude as well.) It's time Ruby gets to talk about how she felt at the fall of beacon, how yang lashed out at her when they talked about blake during a quiet moment- all the pain and suffering she's been through.
And it could actually push the series forward cause they came to this stupid fairy tale to learn how to beat salem and learn of no ways to do anything, don't formulate a plan and don't learn any new techniques to help them. They got anime homework and didn't even take away that characters get abilities to fight bad guys with. Let her learn more silver eye bs, find a pot to shove salem's fat ass in, anything more than just more Jaune bitching an moaning.
I stand by him, ren and nora having the perfect exist in volume 6, RWBY fell off for many reasons, I have a list of them in my tag, I know what I'm talking about here pal XD But roots have many parts; tap roots, secondary roots and tertiary roots- and in those many points Jaune is one. Can he be fixed? Definitely! Make him Joan and don't let miles try making the show about him, hire actual writers and pay them, it all goes without saying and ti's all relative.
But when someone states that the series can't work without barf boy, oh ho ho do I call that a challenge~! Jaune's character is fascinating not because he lacks one, but because the writing of it is atrociously slap on the wrist writing. Jaune is barely challenged, barely has to listen to advice, or anyone tell him he's a piece of shit, he always gets the girl even if he doesn't want her. And as stated by the writers commentary in volume 4/5 that they write like idiots going "we gotta make jaune cool, we gotta make jaune cool" How about writing a decent plot and script? Jaune's too busy playing with his toys to realize that other people wanna play in the sandbox he shat in.
And Jaune would be more compelling, more interesting, more relatable if he got teared down by other characters and not by his on failures the characters constantly excuse or ignore. Let ruby tell Jaune that Pyyrha would be alive if he followed orders, Let ren speak up about his forge transcripts and how they'd be better off with another leader or how he took up a spot a real person worked hard for then slept in class. Let Jaune realize that if this is all he "ever wanted to be." Sleeping in class is freaking stupid.
You bet your ass when I got into creative writing I gave myself grey hairs paying attention so I didn't screw up and waste the money my poor ass family got me into college with. Jaune is handed most things and barely has to work for anything, and because of that- it just makes him less interesting to watch unlike a real underdog
Like Sokka or Ron stoppable, the Jaune done right! Hands down!

I'm not gonna go on with your flaw portion because as the kids say:
Tumblr media
And finish off with this. When you compliment or ignore the writing flaws a person makes you undermined the hard work better writers put into their own work.
This is a hobby it isn't a religion, and talk to people with respect, not me tho, this is my one and done! Anything else you say will be ignored as to not flood my or your dashes with long diatribes.
Be critical, be kind. -Plague of gripes
See ya.

Think what strikes me about your point is that it REALLY highlights the intense hypocrisy and two-faced behavior, especially when it comes to the subject of indie media and the way social media reacts to it.
For all of their disdain for "corporate media" and the "sanitization of media", supposedly "pro indie" people don't hesitate to act any differently towards media that doesn't conform to their expectations. They outwardly praise unique stories and ideas, but if you step out of line in some arcane or unclearly defined fashion that only exists in their minds, you can literally go from hero to hated in pretty much the flip of a switch.
It truly makes me wonder what categories RWBY falls into to get to this intersection. Because there’s now subsets of the hatred and dislike ranging from Ruby is a static protagonist (which she isn’t completely but also that’s not a bad thing in story telling), ANY kind of queer rep and how it’s Pandering but also Done Wrong at the same time. It’s a female led cast who are fully realize people with different personalities and hopes and hobbies and thoughts.
It changes. We leave the safety of school and venture into the outside world and it’s not so simple anymore. It’s hard. Being a teenager who is tasked to save the world is not easy. But the idea that rwby and co mess up or their plans fail is seen as plot armor and not Story Conflict will always make me laugh. Like wow their big elaborate plan at the end of volume six resulted in problems? That’s so crazy it’s almost like every show ever has done that.
It started off with short episodes and a colorful cast that was fun but at the time didn’t have a lot of explored depth. Some people probably just wanted Month to animate fight scenes for 12 seasons. But that’s not what they got and as the crwby have said over the years that wasn’t even the intention of the show.
One dimensional tropes and aspects folding out into fleshed out characters was the GOAL of the show and the beauty of the story they were holding together. People are upset that this flashy nothing burger concept turned into a whole ass narrative with lore and world building and didn’t just stay in a go fund me campaign I style limbo of cool art with nothing else behind it.
And it sucks because now SO MANY PEOPLE will loudly talk about how it was overhyped or rushed or bland or ruined. So many videos on YouTube are how the main cast is bad or the true villains or how characters lost their potential and I wanna scream WATCH THE SHOW. Don’t look at it under the guise of “it could have been this”. Watch what the actual show is saying listen to what it’s telling us.
I love this show a lot and disliking it doesn’t make you An Enemy. Acting like a shitty know it all while bashing the real human creators and claiming you can tell a better story while not being under the same budget and work limitations makes you kind of a loser though
