FOX games are great because every time AJ Pierzynski speaks and says some stupid shit you just hear 5 seconds of silence before Aaron Goldsmith is like "...so anyways, the count is 1-2,"

After barreling over fellow catcher Michael Barrett in a play he considered hard but clean, A.J. Pierzynski is surprised when the Cub backstop shows his displeasure by punching him the face. The incident ignites a bench-clearing brawl between the Chicago rivals that leads to a 15-minute delay and four ejections during the White Sox’ 7-0 victory at U.S. Cellular Field.

An Ode To Gardy!
Ron Gardenhire announced that he would retire as Tigers manager effective immediately on Saturday. He had a long tenure in the Twins organization, which begin in 1987 when he spent his last year playing baseball in Portland (the AAA club of the Twins back then). From 1988-1990, Gardy spent three season managing in the Twins minor league system. Tom Kelly thought highly of him and promoted him to his coaching staff as the third base coach, which is a position he held from 1991-2001. Tom Kelly retired after the 2001 season and Ron Gardenhire was named manager. I hardly have any memories of TK managing the Twins, but I remember Gardy’s first year. That was the first year I really started watching baseball as a kid. I remember the first game in 2002 when Jacque Jones hit a home run on the first pitch of the season. That team went on to win 94 games and beat the heavily favored A’s in the ALDS. The Twins lost to the Angels in the ALCS, but Gardy was the perfect manager for that team. He was a character and you had so many characters on that club. AJ Pierzynski, Doug Mientkiewicz, Cristian Guzman, Jacque Jones, Torii Hunter, Brad Radke, Eddie Guardado, LaTroy Hawkins, David Ortiz, and Rick Reed to name some. Gardy always got the best out of his players and got ejected 85 times, which is sixth all-time in Major League history. The Twins would seemingly get off to bad starts in his tenure, but he wasn’t a screamer or yeller. I think I’ve heard people say that he would have a beer and jam “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley. You have to think that 2006 and 2010 were his two-best chances at winning a World Series with the teams he had. Neither of those teams even won a playoff game. Gardy goes off in the sunset as a great manager, husband, and father. His son Toby Gardenhire was set to be the Rochester Red Wings manager in 2020. I wish Gardy and his wife Carol all the best in his future endeavors. Remember “Every little thing is gonna be alright” as Bob Marley would say.

Minnesota Twins-Chicago White Sox Series Preview
9.14.20-Jose Berrios RHP (4-3) 4.40 ERA Vs. Dylan Cease RHP (5-2) 3.33 ERA
9.15.20-Randy Dobnak RHP (6-3) 3.61 ERA Vs. Dane Dunning RHP (1-0) 2.70 ERA
9.16.20-TBA Vs. Lucas Giolito RHP (4-2) 3.43 ERA
9.17.20-Kenta Maeda RHP (5-1) 2.43 ERA Vs. TBA
The Twins At A Glance- The Minnesota Twins are finally putting all of the pieces together in this odd 2020 season. The pitching has been there from the start, but the offense is starting to hit the ball and the Twins are winning ballgames. They are (10-2) in September and embark on a huge four-game set with the White Sox this week. The Twins hit eleven home runs in the sweep of the Indians this weekend. The offense put up eighteen runs in the three-game set. Eddie Rosario left Sunday’s game after colliding with Byron Buxton in the outfield and hurting his wrist. He did travel with the team with Chicago and might be okay to play. Luis Arraez is still out with a left knee injury. Marwin Gonzalez has filled in for him nicely with two homers against the Indians. Jake Odorizzi threw 80 pitches on Saturday and should start on Wednesday against the Sox. Matt Wisler has allowed just three runs in 21 innings of work out of the bullpen. Wisler and Caleb Thielbar has been pleasant surprises out of the bullpen this year. Trevor May left Sunday’s game after throwing a very high pitch. He left the game with mild cramps in his back.
The White Sox At A Glance- The Chicago White Sox have been just as hot as the Twins in September. They are (8-3), but the Sox have been cleaning up against the Tigers and Royals. Chicago went (18-2) against the Tigers and Royals in 2020 and are (12-14) against everyone else. The Sox have a tough road ahead of them with four games against the Twins, three games against the Reds, four games with the Indians, and three versus the Cubs to close out the season. The White Sox out-scored the Tigers 23-5 in this weekend’s series. Jose Abreu hit two home runs and knocked in seven runs in a 14-0 drubbing of the Tigers. Tim Anderson might be on his way to another batting title with a .362 average on the year. DJ LeMahieu is second with a .350 average. Dallas Keuchel went on the injured list with back spasms and it’s unknown if he’ll be back to finish the season. He was (6-2) with a 2.19 ERA in nine starts. Alex Colome has a 1.02 ERA in 17 2/3 innings as the closer. Matt Foster and Codi Heuer have been nice additions to the bullpen as well.
What To Watch For- The Twins are (4-2) against the Sox in 2020. This should be the biggest Twins-Sox series since August of 2010 when Jim Thome hit the big home run off Matt Thornton, which propelled the Twins to a Central Division crown. From 2002-2010, the Twins or Sox won the division in eight of those nine seasons. There are so many memories from those games. Torii Hunter running over Jamie Burke, Game 163 when Jim Thome’s home run stood up and the Sox won the division in 2008. The Jim Thome walk-off homer for the Twins at Target Field. Mark Buehrle, Johan Santana, AJ Pierzynski, Justin Morneau, Joe Mauer, all those names. Ozzie Guillen calling us the “fucking piranhas” cause he wanted his team to play with speed like we used to. Now the Twins have become a team similar to the White Sox of old with lots of power. Jose Berrios is (12-2) with a 2.69 ERA in sixteen starts against the Sox. Dylan Cease has a 16.71 ERA in two career starts against the Twins. Randy Dobnak has a 1.29 ERA in seven innings versus the Sox. Lucas Giolito is (4-6) with a 5.21 ERA in twelve starts against the Twins. Kenta Maeda is (2-0) with a 2.70 ERA in two starts against Chicago.

October 12, 2005 - White Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski alertly runs to first base in the bottom of the ninth inning of ALCS game two after striking out. The home plate umpire ruled that the ball had not been caught and the batter needed to be tagged. A pinch runner eventually stole second base and scored the winning run on a base hit.
