I Sacrificed My Writing To A.I So You Don't Have To
I was thinking about how people often say "Oh, Chat GPT can't write stories, but it can help you edit things!" I am staunchly anti-A.I, and I've never agreed with this position. But I wouldn't have much integrity to stand on if I didn't see for myself how this "editing" worked. So, I sacrificed part of a monologue from one of my fanfictions to Chat GPT to see what it had to say. Here is the initial query I made:
Tumblr media
Chat GPT then gave me a list of revisions to make, most of which would be solved if it was a human and had read the preceding 150k words of story. I won't bore you with the list it made. I don't have to, as it incorporated those revisions into the monologue and gave me an edited sample back. Here is what it said I should turn the monologue into:
Tumblr media
The revision erases speech patterns. Ben/the General speaks in stilted, short sentences in the original monologue because he is distinctly uncomfortable—only moving into longer, more complex structures when he is either caught up in an idea or struggling to elaborate on an idea. The Chat GPT version wants me to write dialogue like regular narrative prose, something that you'd use to describe a room. It also nullified the concept of theme. "A purity that implied personhood" simply says the quiet(ish) part out loud, literally in dialogue. It erases subtlety and erases how people actually talk in favor of more obvious prose. Then I got a terrible idea. What if I kept running the monologue through the algorithm? Feeding it its own revised versions over and over, like a demented Google Translate until it just became gibberish? So that's what I did. Surprisingly enough, from original writing sample to the end, it only took six turnarounds until it pretty much stopped altering the monologue. This was the final result:
Tumblr media
This piece of writing is florid, overly descriptive, unnatural, and unsubtle. It makes the speaking character literally give voice to the themes through his dialogue, erasing all chances at subtext and subtlety. It uses unnecessary descriptors ("Once innocuous," "gleaming," "receded like a fading echo," "someone worth acknowledging,") and can't comprehend implication—because it is an algorithm, not a human that processes thoughts. The resulting writing is bland, stupid, lacks depth, and seemingly uses large words for large word's sake, not because it actually triggers an emotion in the reader or furthers the reader's understanding of the protagonist's mindset.
There you have it. Chat GPT, on top of being an algorithm run by callous, cruel people that steals artist's work and trains on it without compensation or permission, is also a terrible editor. Don't use it to edit, because it will quite literally make your writing worse. It erases authorial intention and replaces it with machine-generated generic slop. It is ridiculous that given the writer's strike right now, studios truly believe they can use A.I to produce a story of marginal quality that someone may pay to see. The belief that A.I can generate art is an insult to the writing profession and artists as a whole—I speak as a visual artist as well. I wouldn't trust Chat GPT to critique a cover letter, much less a novel or poem.

In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) writing tools has sparked a significant conversation among content marketers, SEO specialists, and small business owners alike. With the promise of streamlining content creation processes, the question arises: How does AI writing impact your SEO? 8 Best AI Tools For Work In 2024, According To Research Understanding AI Writing and SEO AI writing tools generate text from data or prompts using complex algorithms and machine learning. In contrast, SEO optimizes website content to increase organic traffic and SERP rankings. Keyword research, content quality, user experience, and link development are included. Exploring WriteHuman: The Future of SEO- Optimized Content Generation The Impact of AI Writing on SEO 1. Content Creation at Scale Pros: One of the most significant advantages of AI writing tools is their ability to generate content quickly and efficiently. This capability allows marketers to produce a higher content volume, potentially increasing a website's footprint and visibility in SERPs. Cons: Search engines like Google prioritize high-quality, valuable content for their users. If the AI-generated content fails to meet these standards, it could negatively impact a site's SEO performance. 2 Keyword Optimization Pros: AI writing tools can incorporate keyword research and optimization into the content creation, ensuring that articles are primed for SEO. AI can help identify optimal keywords and phrases to target by analyzing high-performing content and competitor strategies. Cons: Over-reliance on AI for keyword optimization can lead to keyword stuffing or creating content that prioritizes search engines over human readers. This practice can harm user experience and, consequently, SEO rankings. 3. Content Originality and Duplication Pros: Advanced AI writing tools are designed to generate unique content, helping to avoid issues related to plagiarism or duplicate content, which are detrimental to SEO. Cons: There's a risk that AI-generated content may inadvertently mirror existing content closely, mainly when producing articles on widely covered topics. Regularly auditing content for originality and uniqueness is essential. 4.Meeting Search Intent Pros: Some AI tools are sophisticated enough to analyze search intent based on keywords or phrases, allowing them to create content that aligns with users' needs. Cons: AI's understanding of nuance and context is still evolving. There may be instances where AI-generated content misses the mark on search intent, leading to lower engagement and bounce rates. Best Practices for Leveraging AI Writing for SEO The Best Ways to Use AI Writing to Supplement Content for SEO Utilize AI writing tools to enhance the creativity and knowledge of humans. While AI can help with ideation and drafting, human editors should nonetheless examine and edit the finished product. Put Quality and Value First: Make sure your audience receives actual value from the material produced by AI. Look for insights into user engagement, time on page, and conversion rates. Stay Informed: As AI technology and search engine algorithms evolve, keep abreast of the latest trends and best practices in AI writing and SEO. Conclusion AI writing has the potential to transform content creation and significantly impact SEO. When used wisely, it can enhance content marketing strategies, improve efficiency, and contribute to better SEO outcomes. But the secret to success is striking a balance between human control and artificial intelligence while staying steadfastly focused on producing valuable, high-quality material that appeals to both search engines and human readers.

episode 1 the kents are moving
Part 1
Scene 1: The Decision
Kent Farm, Late Evening
Lois leaned against the kitchen counter, flipping through a real estate listing on her laptop. Clark sat across from her, staring out the window at the fields bathed in moonlight.
Lois: "I think we’ve given Smallville enough of our lives, Clark."
(She looks up, her voice steady but tired.) "It’s time for something different—for the boys and for us."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clark: (Still looking outside, voice low) "You think leaving will fix everything?"
Lois: (Sighs, closing the laptop) "It’s not about fixing things. It’s about giving us space to breathe. I found this place—Brook Town. It’s small, quiet, and close enough that we’re not completely starting over."
Clark turned his head slightly, his face softening.
Clark: "Brook Town..." (He nods faintly.) "I know it. Oak told me about it years ago. Said it was... special."
Lois raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued.
Lois: "Special how?"
Clark: (Shrugs, looking back out the window) "You’d have to see it to understand. If you think it’s a good idea... maybe it’s time."
Scene 2: Telling the Boys
Kent Family Living Room, Next Morning
Jonathan was lounging on the couch, tossing a football in the air. Jordan sat cross-legged on the floor, earbuds in, scrolling through his phone. Lois and Clark stood in front of them, exchanging a brief glance before speaking.
Lois: "Alright, boys. We’ve got something to talk about."
Jonathan caught the football mid-air and sat up. Jordan tugged out one earbud, looking up lazily.
Jonathan: "Uh-oh. That’s Mom’s ‘serious talk’ voice."
Jordan: (Tilting his head) "Are we in trouble?"
Clark: (Chuckles) "Not this time."
Lois: (Sits on the couch armrest) "We’ve been thinking... it’s time for a change. There’s this town nearby—Brook Town. We’re thinking of moving there."
The boys froze for a moment. Jonathan leaned forward, tossing the football onto the couch.
Jonathan: "Move? Like... leave Smallville?"
Jordan: (Frowning slightly) "We’ve barely gotten used to things here."
Lois: "I know it’s a big change, but think about it—a new start. A place where you can just be yourselves without everyone in town watching your every move."
Jonathan: (Leaning back) "I mean... it might be nice not to be the center of attention for a while."
Jordan: (Shrugs) "I guess it could be cool. New town, new people... as long as I can still hit the trails."
Clark: (Nods, smiling) "Then it’s settled. We’ll give Brook Town a chance."
Scene 3: Moving In
Brook Town, Two Days Later
The Kent family stood outside their new home—a modest two-story house with a porch that overlooked the forest in the distance. Cardboard boxes were stacked on the front steps. Jonathan and Jordan carried a few inside while Lois stood on the porch, hands on her hips, surveying the area.
Lois: (To Clark) "Not bad, huh?"
Clark: (Smiling faintly) "It’s quiet. I like quiet."
Jonathan appeared at the door, wiping his forehead.
Jonathan: "If this is what quiet looks like, I think I could get used to it."
Jordan walked up beside him, looking toward the forest.
Jordan: (Pointing) "Look at that. Trails everywhere. I’m calling it now—that’s where I’ll be."
Lois: (Grinning) "How about you call those boxes into the house first?"
Jordan: (Groans) "Fine, fine."
Scene 4: Doubts
The Kent House, Evening
Clark sat at the kitchen table, the hum of the refrigerator filling the silence. Lois walked in, drying her hands on a towel, and stopped when she saw him hunched over, his head in his hands.
Lois: (Softly) "Clark?"
He looked up, his face lined with worry.
Clark: "I’m not sure about this, Lois. People are already starting to notice us. Whispers. Questions. It feels like Smallville all over again."
Lois pulled out a chair and sat across from him.
Lois: (Firmly) "It’s been two days, Clark. Give it time. Brook Town isn’t Smallville—it’s different. You’ll see."
Scene 5: The Knock
The Kent House, Twilight
The house was quiet, the warm glow of sunset streaming through the windows. Jonathan and Jordan were in the living room—Jonathan flipping through a book and Jordan tinkering with his headphones. Lois was chopping vegetables in the kitchen. Clark stood near the window, watching the sky darken.
A knock at the door broke the silence.
Clark straightened, his eyes narrowing. He knew that knock.
Clark: (Quietly) "I’ll get it."
He walked to the door and opened it. Standing there was Oak. His presence was commanding yet warm, his smile calm.
Oak: "Clark."
Clark’s tension eased instantly.
Clark: (Smiling faintly) "Oak. It’s been a while."
Oak: (Nods) "I thought it was time I came to welcome you and your family."
Clark stepped aside, gesturing for him to come in.
Clark: "Come in. They’ll want to meet you."
Oak stepped inside, his presence filling the room like a comforting force. Jonathan and Jordan froze, staring at the tall man in the doorway.
Oak: (Looking at them, smiling) "You must be Jonathan and Jordan. I’ve heard a lot about you two."
Jonathan: (Awkwardly) "Uh... thanks. And you are?"
Oak: "I’m Oak. A friend of your father’s."
Lois appeared, her curiosity lighting up her expression.
Lois: "And I’m guessing this is the Oak I’ve heard so much about."
Oak: (Smiling warmly) "The one and only."
Scene 6: A New Beginning
That night, the Kent family sat around the dining table with Oak, sharing stories and laughter. The unease Clark had felt just hours earlier began to melt away. For the first time since the move, he felt something he hadn’t in a long time: hope.
Brook Town was different, but maybe that was what they needed. With Oak nearby and his family by his side, Clark knew they could handle whatever came next.
And whatever secrets Brook Town held, they were ready to face them—together.
part 2 the meet
Scene 1: The First Meeting
Brook Town High School, Morning
Jonathan and Jordan walked down the hallway of their new school, the bell ringing loudly as students scrambled to their classes. Jonathan nudged Jordan as they passed a group of kids whispering and pointing.
Jonathan: (Whispering) "Think they’re already onto us?"
Jordan: (Shrugs, smirking) "Maybe we’re just too good-looking."
Jonathan rolled his eyes as they disappeared into their respective classrooms, leaving behind the usual murmurs that seemed to follow the Kent boys wherever they went.
Scene 2: Lois Meets Lucy and Lana Knight
Kent House, Mid-Morning
Lois was organizing a few boxes in the kitchen when the doorbell rang. She glanced at Clark, who was folding a map of Brook Town at the table.
Lois: "You expecting someone?"
Clark shook his head, standing up to answer the door. Lois followed curiously. As Clark opened the door, Lucy stood there with a teenage girl half-hiding behind her. The girl clutched Lucy’s arm tightly, her wide eyes darting nervously to Lois and Clark.
Lucy: (Smiling softly) "Hi Clark, Lois, nice to finally meet you this is Lana."
Lana gave a tiny wave but stayed close to Lucy’s side. Lois tilted her head, studying the girl’s shy demeanor.
Lois: (Gently) "Hi, Lana. I’m Lois. You can come in—it’s okay."
Lana glanced up at Lucy, who gave her a reassuring nod. Slowly, she stepped inside, her grip on Lucy’s arm not loosening. She glanced around the house, her curiosity barely outweighing her shyness.
Clark: "It’s nice to meet you, Lana. Oak told me a little about you."
Lana nodded quickly, her voice soft.
Lana: "It’s nice to meet you too... Mr. Kent."
Clark smiled warmly.
Clark: "Just Clark is fine."
Lois came in slowly to lana, her voice kind but curious.
Lois: "Are you okay, sweetheart? You seem a little nervous."
Lana: (Fidgeting, glancing at Lucy) "I’m not good with... people. I don’t meet a lot of them."
Lucy placed a comforting hand on Lana’s shoulder.
Lucy: "She’s homeschooled. Big crowds and new faces aren’t really her thing."
Lois: (Smiling softly) "Well, you’re safe here. And don’t worry—we’re not a big crowd. Just family."
Lana gave the faintest of smiles before retreating slightly behind Lucy again.
Scene 3: Oak and Clark’s Chat
Front Porch, Midday
Clark sat on the porch with Oak, the two of them sipping coffee. Oak leaned back in the chair, his expression calm but amused.
Oak: "You’ve done well here. Nice house, quiet town. But I bet you’re still figuring out where to find the essentials."
Clark: (Smirking) "Let me guess—you’ve got a list for me."
Oak chuckled, pulling a folded paper out of his pocket.
Oak: "The best grocery store is ‘Greenfields Market.’ Small, family-owned. For clothes, head to ‘Brook Threads’—better quality than you’d expect in a town this size. And if you need anything... unusual..." (he paused, giving Clark a knowing look) "...you know where to find me."
Clark laughed, shaking his head.
Clark: "You really have this place figured out, don’t you?"
Oak: (Grinning) "Let’s just say I’ve had time to explore."
Scene 4: Lois and Lucy’s Conversation
Kitchen, Early Afternoon
Lois poured tea for herself and Lucy as they sat across from each other at the kitchen table. Lana sat at the far end of the table, nervously fiddling with a napkin but watching Lois with quiet curiosity.
Lois: "So, let’s start with the obvious. Why do you look so much like me?"
Lucy hesitated, then took a deep breath.
Lucy: "It’s... part of Oak’s world. The Tree of Life connects us all in strange ways. In some universes, it ties people together. I guess, in this one, it decided you and I should be... reflections."
Lois: (Leaning back, skeptical) "Reflections, huh? That’s a new one."
Lucy managed a small smile.
Lucy: "It’s not something I fully understand myself. But I promise—it’s nothing dangerous."
Lois studied her for a moment, then nodded.
Lois: "Alright, fair enough. Now tell me about Oak. Clark’s mentioned him, but... who is he, really?"
Lucy’s expression softened at the mention of her husband.
Lucy: "Oak is... complicated. He’s strong and stubborn, but he’s also kind. He carries the weight of two worlds—his own and this one. He tries to protect everyone, even when it costs him."
Lois tilted her head, intrigued.
Lois: "Sounds like someone I know."
Lucy smiled.
Lucy: "Clark and Oak are alike in many ways. Maybe that’s why they’ve been such good friends."
From the end of the table, Lana spoke up softly.
Lana: "Dad says Clark saved him once. He says he owes him everything."
Lois glanced at the girl, her expression softening again.
Lois: "Sounds like they’re more than just friends. They’re family."
Scene 5: Lois and Lana Bond
Living Room, Mid-Afternoon
Lana sat curled up on the couch, her knees pulled to her chest as she watched Lois with shy curiosity. Lois, seated across from her, gave a gentle smile.
Lois: "So, homeschool, huh? That must be... different."
Lana: (Quietly) "I like it. It’s quiet. But... it means I don’t meet a lot of people."
Lois: (Nods) "That’s okay. I bet you’re learning a lot though. What’s your favorite subject?"
Lana hesitated, then smiled faintly.
Lana: "History. Dad says it’s important to know where we come from."
Lois chuckled softly.
Lois: "He’s got a point. I think we’re going to get along just fine, Lana."
Lana gave a small, genuine smile, the tension in her shoulders easing just a little.
Scene 6: A Quiet Evening
Porch, Sunset, oak house
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting Brook Town in warm hues of orange and pink. Lucy joined Oak on the porch, leaning against the railing as they watched the sky. Lana sat nearby on the steps, her gaze fixed on the fading light.
Lucy: "Lois... she’s different. Strong."
Oak: (Smiling faintly) "She’s a lot like you."
Lucy glanced at him, a soft smile playing on her lips.
Lucy: "I think I like her."
Oak chuckled.
Oak: "You should. You’re more alike than you realize."
Lana turned to them, her voice soft but clear.
Lana: "I like her too. She makes me feel... safe."
The three of them shared a quiet moment as Brook Town settled into the quiet rhythm of the night.
