Annunciate le candidature agli Art Directors Guild Awards, i premi con cui ogni anno il sindacato degli scenografi (ADG) sceglie le migliori prestazioni professionali in ambito cinematografico e televisivo. I loro verdetti sono considerati un tassello chiave nelle dinamiche dell’Awards Season, perché solitamente consentono di prevedere il successivo vincitore agli Oscar nella categoria Miglior scenografia. 

Basti pensare che nelle ultime 18 edizioni (2006-2024) in cui il premio è stato nettamente separato in 3 categorie (D’Epoca/Fantasy/Contemporaneo) ben 14 volte il vincitore degli ADG Awards è stato confermato agli Oscar: 6 volte nella categoria Miglior scenografia per un film fantasy (Il labirinto del fauno, Avatar, Mad Max: Fury Road, Black Panther, Dune: Part One, Povere Creature), 7 volte nella categoria Miglior scenografia per un film D’Epoca (Il curioso caso di Benjamin Button, Hugo Cabret, Il grande Gatsby, Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, C’era una volta a Hollywood, Mank) e 1 volta nella categoria Miglior scenografia per un film contemporaneo (La La Land). 

Quest'anno partono favoriti nelle rispettive categorie: The Brutalist (Period), Conclave (Contemporary) e Wicked (Fantasy). Quest'ultimo in particolare considerato il frontrunner per gli Oscar.

The art department for FX's Fargo, episode 502: "Trials & Tribulations", was nominated for an ADG Award! Trevor Smith, and select team members, joined the festivities to celebrate this amazing recognition, and the craft of production design and art direction. What a great weekend -- big thanks to Zach Dearborn for many of these image lifts ;)
