UglyDolls Movie Analysis.
Edit: added more content.
So, I wasn’t interested in UglyDolls when it first came out. I’d never heard of the toy line it’s based on and it looked like just another “beauty is on the inside” message cranked out by hypocritical Hollywood. But recently, I’ve finally got around to watching it and it’s not just about looks.
It’s about disability.
The movie takes place in an automated, possibly magical toy factory where different types of dolls are put together; pink rag dolls, grey teddy bears, red birds, and featureless humanoid fashion dolls known as “pretties”. Every toy is scanned and any one that has imperfections gets tossed down a shoot and sent to “Uglyville”. This is just like how disabled children are abandoned or killed by their parents when they’re born.
Uglyville is essentially a paradise with endless celebrations and all the junk food you can eat. The leader Ox (voice by Blake Shelton) tells everyone that the “Big World” of humans isn’t real, and everyone has pretty much lost interest in leaving. All except Moxie (voiced by Kelly Clarkson) a short and stumpy ragdoll who wants a human so badly, she runs away through the shoot, with her friends tagging along. Her friends include a grey blobby guy and a red bat. They end up with the pretties in the Institute of Perfection where the dolls are trained in surviving the Big World before going through a portal that sends them to their ideal child. This place is run by exposition bots and a scanner gate that assigns the dolls their appearance, name, and even careers. (Everyone is something slash model).
There, the Uglies meet Lou, (voiced by Nick Jonas) the most perfect doll and leader of the institute who tells everyone, through song, that being ugly is bad and that kids don’t want ugly toys. (Shows what he knows) They also meet Mandy, (voiced by Janelle Monae) the one doll who's nice to them and who hides the fact that she needs glasses. Tangent: I don’t know if it’s my place to say this since I’m white. It is so nice to see a black woman get portrayed as feminine and friendly and have her own character arc outside of helping the main character.
Anyway, Moxie and her friends stay, and Lou allows it, just to make himself look more benevolent. The dolls are trained to avoid getting messy or damaged (reasonable hazards for toys) and prepare for a real-world simulation called The Gauntlet. As hard as the Ugly dolls work, Lou keeps sabotaging them. He also sends a trio of girls to spy on Uglyville and kidnap Ox.
It turns out, Ox used to live in Perfection after landing there by accident. But he failed the program, learned that toys like them, rejects, are originally meant to end up in the recycling bin where they’re burned in the incinerator. Ox kept the ugly dolls sheltered in a place they’d never want to leave because he was afraid of them facing rejection. Thats also something lots of parents of disabled kids do. This news floors Moxie. She and the others never knew there was anything wrong with them. Not until it’s cruelty pointed out. As Lou tells her, “they were never meant to exist”. Eugenics much?
The uglies return to their home and break the news to the others. Everyone falls into despair; it’s one thing to never find your soulmate, it’s another to be told that nobody wants you. But then Mandy arrives, telling Moxie that she should run the gauntlet anyway because thanks to Moxie’s sweet affirmation, she feels encouraged to wear her glasses with pride. And they share a beautiful duet about how there will always be people who give who flack for being yourself, but you should be yourself anyway. There’s only so much you can do with the body you’re born with. And I love the trend of animated films saying that perfection is overrated. Encanto, Turning Red, the latest Trolls movie all have this message. And it’s good. Progress and self-betterment are great, but not when they come at a personal cost of conforming to someone else’s unreasonable standards. Moxies’ hope is restored. Just in time for Lou to have them both kidnapped and thrown in the incinerator. The other uglies save them, and they enter the gauntlet. Lou enters as well just to make sure they lose.
They have to go through life-size human house and dodge obstacles. At this point, I’m wondering who exactly is in charge of this toy factory and how they can afford all this crazy machinery.
While the pretty dolls focus on staying clean and looking out for themselves, the Uglies focus on having fun and being loving. They go back and help those who’ve fallen behind, they befriend the mechanical dog and mechanical baby they encounter. They choose to lose together rather than win alone. This ends up helping them pass in while Lou, who actually made it through the house, ends up failing.
While the audience isn't surprised by this, everyone else is. Perfect Lou failed at something. This triggers a breakdown in which Lou reveals that he isn't a real doll, he's a prototype. He can't leave the factory or be purchased by a child. Big kudus to whomever came up with this plot twist because this explains so much about Lous' character. Of course he's insensitive towards others. Of course he can't handle being played with. Whatever love-and-be-loved instinct the other dolls got, he didn't get it. But he still wants to go to the Big World. And that led him to resent the others, especially the Uglies, who can go through the portal despite their imperfections. In a way, Lou himself is disabled. But he could never admit it. And that's what leads to his downfall. He destroys the portal to the Big World and gets thrown in the very washer that he kept sending the Ugly Dolls to. A lot of fans are disappointed that he doesn't get redeemed in the end, I totally get that. But to be redeemed, you have to want to be redeemed. Lou just wanted everyone to forgive him immediately. Plus, he's still alive in the end, so his arc has an open ending.
The dolls work together to repair the portal, and set up a new system in which their communities live together and go back and forth through the portal so they can hang out whenever their humans are asleep.
And at the very last scene, Moxie meets her kid, a little girl with bad teeth like hers. Believe it or not, kids want disabled toys. There are Barbies with blindness and albinism, there are baby dolls with Downs Syndrome, there's and old man who crochets dolls with vitiligo patches. A girl in an online video painted a facial birthmark on her doll to match her moms' facial birthmark. I myself keep toys with missing limbs and chewed-up faces. Representation matters. And it's good that companies are finally acknowledging that. Even when they sometimes do a bad job at it.
It should also be noted that while the Pretties supposedly have it better, the Uglies live better, with a community that values joy and friendship and individuality. That really drives home the message that differences should be accepted and celebrated, not ignored of erased. (Just like that other animated musical starring Kelly Clarkson…)
One last thing, while the movie is officially the property of Universal, it was financed and worked on by two Chinese company. A movie about dolls, made in China. Brilliant.

Panic! in Four Minutes — VoicePlay music videos
All singers are performers, but VoicePlay have definitely earned their moniker as the theater kids of the a cappella world. When they decided to create a medley of PatD songs, they wanted their own accompanying videos to have a bit of the same short-film aesthetic as the band's original videos. What ensued was a mid-summer location shoot, a kidnapping scenario straight out of a heist film, and even a dramatic cliffhanger.
youtube
Details:
title: Panic! in Four Minutes, part 1
original songs / performers: all songs by Panic! At the Disco — "Victorious"; "I Write Sins Not Tragedies"; "Emperor's New Clothes"; "Miss Jackson", feat. Lolo; "The Ballad of Mona Lisa"
written by: all songs by Brendon Urie in collaboration — "Victorious" with Mike Viola, Morgan "White Sea" Kibby, Jake Sinclair, Alexander DeLeon, Rivers Cuomo, & CJ Baran; "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" with Ryan Ross & Spencer Smith; "Emperor's New Clothes" with Jake Sinclair, Lauren "Lolo" Pritchard, Sam Hollander, & Dan Wilson; "Miss Jackson" with Dallon Weekes, Lauren "Lolo" Pritchard, Jake Sinclair, Amir Jerome Salem, & Alex Goose; "The Ballad of Mona Lisa" with Spencer Smith, Butch Walker, & John Feldmann
arranged by: Layne Stein & Earl Elkins, Jr.
release date: 13 July 2018
My favorite bits:
the rhythm section's crisp beginning
that incredible chord from the end of the "Victorious" intro section doubling as a frightened scream
Earl's focused tone on that falling chromatic line
everyone slumping in their seats during the first transition
Eli's defiant rock grit on "Emperor's New Clothes"
slipping that key change into ♫ "anywa-ay-ay" ♫
adding chair and chain sounds to Layne's already impressive percussion (and using the latter as a radio edit)
J.None's lovely falling run on ♫ "rationality" ♫
such beautiful harmonies on "Ballad of Mona Lisa"
Geoff's subharmonic drop on ♫ "believe" ♫

My favorite bits:
the panicked (ha!) heartbeat sounds
Layne's gentle timbre on the opening of "This Is Gospel"
everyone jerking against their chains as Earl belts out ♫ "let me GOOO" ♫
the soft bell chords under Eli's lead section
Geoff rounding out the low end as Eli sings ♫ "all tied up" ♫
Layne putting his increasing frustration into the percussion through rhythmic breathing
Earl mouthing "What the fu–?!" when Geoff haphazardly tosses the key so far out of his reach
that blazingly high ♫ "SaturDAAAAY" ♫ from J.None
all the others cringing away from the bomb as much as they can when the timer nears the end and Geoff takes a wild guess at which wire to cut
finishing on pure octaves for that last ♫ "vic-tor-i-ous" ♫

Trivia:
These videos were filmed at an abandoned sawmill previously owned by the Wilson Cypress Co. in Palatka, FL. According to the guys' various anecdotes, the place didn't smell great, and there were some wasps flying around. The things they endure for their art.
The original PaTD videos for three of the songs included in this medley — "Say Amen", "This Is Gospel", and "Emperor's New Clothes" — contain a continuous story known as the Devil's Key trilogy. It stands to reason that the key around Geoff's neck is a reference to that.
One eagle-eyed viewer spotted another bit of PatD inspiration in the visuals for these videos.
Tumblr media
J.None has said that the B5 wail in "Say Amen (Saturday Night)" is the highest note he's ever hit. Considering that he's a natural baritone, and now sings bass with the SeaChanters, that's darn impressive.
Similarly, Geoff's E1 at the end of "Ballad of Mona Lisa" was his lowest recorded note at the time. (He has, of course, surpassed that by half an octave in the years since then.)
Makeup artist Dana Bracewell from Makeup and Creative Arts provided the fake dirt and injuries. (No singers were actually harmed in the making of this video.)
The cover art was designed by VP's longtime friend and collaborator Rek Dunn.
The guys demonstrated the opening tape pull for production assistants Rek and Hayley in the trailer where they got gussied up. Hayley ended up doing it in the video.
instagram
The Facebook upload of "Part 1" racked up two million views in a day and a half, six million in less than a week, 10 million before the end of the month, and 15 million in just over three weeks. After six years, it's sitting just under 30 million.
It also nudged them over 600,000 followers on Facebook.
A fan brought the first video to Brendon Urie's attention on Twitter, and he passed it along to his fans, which certainly didn't hurt.
Tumblr media
A few fan artists were inspired to capture the guys' predicament, and speculate about the aftermath.

VoicePlay's video for "Billie Eilish in 3 Minutes", released a little over a year later, is a prequel to this story, showing how they ended up in so much danger.
Some fans have embraced a headcanon that the video for "Queen in 5 Minutes" is the next episode in this story, and that Earl ends up in the hospital because Geoff cut the wrong wire and failed to stop the explosion.
The unified video was originally only available to Patreon patrons, but it was uploaded to VoicePlay's TikTok account after five years.
During a break in filming, Eli's shared a story about a mishap that occured while he was playing Fortnite.
instagram
They also used their break time to practice a little stunt work.
instagram
They even created a suitably dramatic trailer for this two-parter.

A single-track audio version was later included on VoicePlay's "Citrus" album, which compiled most of the songs they recorded from 2017-19. Because the individual songs had already been made available digitally, that album is exclusively a physical item that can only be purchased at live shows or through their website.

So I did a pretty little liars rewatch, which cemented spencer as my favourite character even more, and I definitely think that for all that the ‘A’s put the girls through, they defini rightfully viewed Spencer as their biggest threat, which is showcased in how prevalent she is in the finales:
-Season 1 finale, Spencer goes after Ian with the videos, and almost dies.
-Season 2 finale: Spencer figures out Mona is A, jumps out of a MOVING VEHICLE, fights Mona, nearly dies, sends Mona down a cliff instead.
-Season 3, Spencer becomes a double agent for the A team after having her mind and spirit completely shattered, proving she’s stronger than the girls give her credit for. She clues the rest of the liars in on Toby being alive and her plan to find out who red coat is. Sort of sees Alison as redcoat.
-Season 4, even with Shauna not being a “main A” but having a gun, and Spencer’s addiction withdrawals hitting her hard, she still goes with the group to find Ali in New York and shields the other girls from Shauna’s aim.
-in the season 5 finale, Spencer has already been arrested once, and is arrested again, then kidnapped with the rest of the girls. Within the dollhouse, Spencer and Mona find out the biggest pieces of information, suffer just as much as the other girls, and plan an escape route.
-the season 6 finale is like the only one where Spencer isn’t throwing A off their game/suffering. She has her good moments, but this was the one where she was the most okay/least involved with the main group, and what happens? Hanna gets kidnapped.
-season 7 finale, as bad as it was, Spencer is literally kidnapped by her evil twin, replaced, her friends don’t notice, yet she makes a plan and is already escaping on her own by the time the others come to help her and ezra. AD’s obsession with Spencer is what leads to her failure.

keyframe n. a moment that seemed innocuous at the time but ended up marking a diversion into a strange new era of your life—set in motion not by a series of jolting epiphanies but by tiny imperceptible differences between one ordinary day and the next, until entire years of your memory can be compressed into a handful of indelible images—which prevents you from rewinding the past, but allows you to move forward without endless buffering

“—And then Usagi-san threw him off the bridge! It was bogus!” A boyish voice dramatically informed the alligator mutant about his latest adventure over a tablet.
The boyish voice talking over the tablet is Michelangelo Hamato, Leatherhead’s best friend. Let it be known that the Hamatos’ and the Mutanimals decided a tablet is more suitable for Slash and Leatherhead as a gadget of communication. The two giant mutants won’t have to mind their strength or how small apps or texts are.
Leatherhead let out a hum, “Didn’t Usagi say this Jade is immortal?”
“Jei,” The orange-clad turtle corrected, “And he did! Maybe Usagi-san got his info wrong or Jei just bluff, or he just gets rebirth kind of immortality,” Michelangelo theorized.
“From your hectic adventure, I’m glad you returned safely, my friend,” The older mutant honestly thought the worst when the turtles were gone without notice. For some enemy managing to kidnap his friends without struggle…
Through the screen, Michelangelo winced, “Sorry, but couldn’t really do much when we’re spiritually summoned to another dimension by a blind fake immortal wolf,” The nun-chuck wielder joked weakly.
“Just how long were we gone?” Michelangelo asked quietly,  “Cuz, I didn’t have to check when I have an awesome story to tell my two besties!” The turtle cheerfully added. At the edge of the screen, you can see a yellow bowl and can hear a faint meow.
A small smile formed on Leatherhead but inwardly he was frowning as well. His friend, in true ninja form, is great at misdirection. “Almost a week, my friend”.
The smallest mutant turtle's eyes widen, “Really? It was like—three days for us,” Michelangelo compared with a faraway look.
Leatherhead pressed his teeth together, to anyone who doesn’t know the mutant, they would say he’s restraining himself from eating something, but his expression is equivalent to a human pressing their lips together, a sign of displeasure. The alligator was about to change the topic, as he didn’t like the faraway look on Michelangelo’s normally bright face, but someone beat him to the punch.
“Mikey! I need your help!” Donatello called out, snapping Michelangelo’s trance.
“Coming Dee! Sorry Leatherhead, I’ll talk to you later,” The turtle apologized, as he moved the screen to a mutant ice cream cat, “Talk with Ice Cream Kitty! You guys haven’t talked since forever!”
“…”
“… How’s the freezer?” Leatherhead awkwardly questioned.
“Meowr~”
“You’re right, that’s an awful ice breaker to start a conversation,” Leatherhead apologized.
“Meow~”
“What? I didn’t pun.”
“Meeeow~”
“Oh… I didn’t realize,”
“Meoow~” The ice cream mutant titled her head a little, “Meow?”
“I’m afraid I don’t.”
“Meow!”
“When?”
“Meow~”
“That—”
“INTRUDERS!” A blue blur passed Leatherhead and leapt over the railings.
“Ice Cream Kitty, we’ll continue this later,” Leatherhead said goodbye to the cold mutant and ended the call.
Following the Salamandrian example, Leatherhead leapt over the railing as he saw three humans fighting Mona Lisa, Mondo Gecko, and Pigeon Pete.
“Pete!” The Leopard Gecko shouted in distress, as the human with a skull mask batted the Pigeon into a metal pillar.
Leatherhead roared as he tried to charge the masked human. But a red-haired human threw a smoke pellet at him. If Leatherhead was more clear-headed, he wouldn’t have attacked the red-haired human or the masked human, for they particularly looked like April O’Neil and Casey Jones. [1] It is fortunate that Leatherhead has a third eyelid or else he would’ve been so focused on regaining his vision than blocking a stab aimed at his underbelly.
“Mondo! Take the light out!” The only non-mutant in the Mutanimals ordered the mutant gecko.
“‘right!” The youngest mutant in the group cheekily saluted and proceeded to smash the control panel with his skateboard.
Leatherhead would’ve complimented Mona Lisa’s quick thinking of turning lights off [2] if he wasn’t busy trying to defend himself. The large mutant isn’t used on the defensive side of fighting, but his opponent is relentlessly attacking him.
But considering his redhead opponent switched with a black-haired human, that was fighting Mona Lisa. Leatherhead can see why this human hadn’t been knocked out by Mona Lisa, who is the only trained warrior in the Mutanimals with the exception of Slash.
CREEEAAAK
“What is going on!” A human-turned-monkey loudly demands. Beside the Monkey is a large snapping turtle with spikes and wearing a black bandana, carrying groceries.
“O’Neil! Jones! Opening!” The black-haired human pointed at the open garage door.
Wait. What? Did Leatherhead hear that right?
“Oh no one is leaving–” Rockwell interrupted with monkey noise, “–without giving me some answers!” [3] The former human telekinetically lifted the three human intruders into the air, and then glared at us. (Mona Lisa, Leatherhead, and Mondo Gecko)
“You can’t destroy the control panel to do the Lights off plan!” The scientist hissed angrily.
“Yeah, but I thought about how they can turn it on, so def need to destroy the panel, doc,” The youngest member of Mutanimals reasoned nonchalantly.
Dr. Rockwell’s eyes bulge in annoyance, “You're lucky I thought about this outcome and—monkey noise—made a backup panel!”
“And our little intruders are interesting.” Dr. Rockwell added as he eyed the three humans with maniacal interest.
“We ain’t telling ya’ nothin’!” Came a muffled statement from the masked human.
“Hm, yes,” Rockwell made another monkey noise, “Slash, you know where the backup panel. Take—monkey noise—Gecko with you, penance for destroying my tech.”
Slash grunted, “Let’s go, kid,” As he dropped the groceries, and walked outside.
“Not a kid!” Mondo squawked.
“Yeah, yeah,” Slash waved off the attempted correction, making Mondo offended.
Leatherhead stared at the duo bickering back and forth.
“Doctor, put them down, I want to try tying them up,” Mona Lisa enthusiastically said.
“Ah yes,” Monkey sounds, and eyes bulged for a second, “Space doesn’t have rope. Instead you alien tie with magnetic space metal.”
The Salamandrian warrior nodded, “Sometimes electricity. Burnt skin and pain make the captive more compliant.”
Leatherhead can attest. The Kraang had tied him with electricity before.
“Raphael taught me the proper ways of tying with ropes or wires. The painful and the non-painful way, and I’ve been looking for an opportunity to test my learnings” By that meaning, the non-painful is actually not painful for mutants or aliens. And maybe non-painful for trained humans only.
“And you’ll be trying…?” Leatherhead wanted to know, as Michelangelo tried teaching him once, but it was futile because Leatherhead kept accidentally cutting the wire/rope. But they did discover Leatherhead can somewhat tie someone with metal pipes in case chains aren’t available in the area.
“Wire. The painful way.”
Leatherhead felt pity for the human intruders. Michelangelo said the wire is more painful than the ropes. Unlike the ropes tied with the painful method, they irritate the skin if you try to move or escape, the wire on the other hand makes you bleed.
It took 10 minutes, as the humans tried to escape while being tied by the alien. And to Leatherhead’s surprise, the Salamandrian warrior tied the male human with the not painful method. And the fact the masked human gave her the most trouble despite being less refined than his companions.
During the 10 minutes, Slash and Mondo brought the back-up-controlled panel, which Dr. Rockwell quickly integrated into their lair system and managed to open the lights the moment Mona was finished tying the redhead human.
“Now!” Dr. Rockwell clapped and eyes bulged with enthusiasm, “These two humans!” The monkey removed the mask on the male human, “Are alternate versions of our friend April O’Neil and Casey Jones!”
That doesn’t seem outlandish since they look like adult versions of their friend. Leatherhead thought.
“And! This human is Karai!” Dr. Rockwell dramatically pointed at the black-haired human.
The proclaimed alternate Karai didn’t look like Karai in Leatherhead’s opinion.
“It seems, armour and being good at the battle is consistent for any version of Karai,” Mona Lisa complimented(?).
“You’re just going to accept that!?” Questioned the maskless Casey Jones.
“Casey…” Alternate April hissed.
The alternate Karai remained quiet as she observed them.
“Well yeah. Doc is pretty smart y’know,” Mondo answered, “Besides! Mikey told me that the multiverse exists cuz he already met an alternate version of himself… Twice!”
Alternate Universe Casey nodded hesitantly, “Okay… But all we know you guys are faking this whole alternate-whatever-situation story,” Alternate Casey Jones states with a furrowed suspicious brow.
Well, Leatherhead can’t fault this Casey Jones for being suspicious.
“We’ll call them.”
“What?”
“The turtles,” Mona specified.
“We’ll call them either way to fix this,” Slash added.
“They are the experts at this type of situation,” Rockwell said with a hint of jealousy.
“…So, you’ll untie us?” Alternate Karai asked.
“If you swear on your honour to stay until the turtles come,” Mona Lisa replied.
Alternate Karai raised her eyebrow, “You must know me intimately,” and something rest unsaid, that only Mona seemed to understand.
The alien warrior shrugged, “We have a bi-weekly girls' night out,”
Karai huffed in amusement, like she heard something funny, “I swear on my honour, I’ll stay until this universe’s turtles show up.”
Mona hummed before turning to the other humans, “How about you two?”
“Will you stay as well?”
When the alternate April O’Neil was about to speak, the garaged door opened, and garbage and rotten food is all they could smell.
“Hey, guys! I just finished an interview with—who are these humans? And why do they look like our friends?” Questioned by the newly arrived resident New York Hero, Muck Man.

GASP!
“Sensei!”
Splinter coughed relentlessly to the point he couldn’t recognize which of his sons had made him sit in a stable position. The mutant also has blurry vision.
“Whoa there sensei, take it easy,” His son rubbed his back.
It took a few minutes to not hack up his lungs and to regain his vision.
“You okay, master?” Questioned Raphael, who was leaning against a graffitied wall.
“Ye-yes, I am alright, my son.” Splinter cleared his throat, “Thank you, Donatello.”
Looking around with a clearer vision, Splinter can tell they’re in an ally way. Which the rat mutant didn’t expect to be at, being sucked into the portal. And speaking of portals…
“Where’s Leonardo?”
Seeing his three sons being together gives Splinter hope that his eldest is just reconning the area to be safe and he arrived with them. But with the expressions of his sons, Splinter’s hope wanes.
“We’re… not sure, Sensei,” Donatello took a deep breath, “Because we aren’t in our universe.”
“What do you mean, Donatello?” Splinter asked with a confused frown.
The purple-clad genius handed him a Newspaper, “While you were unconscious, Mikey and Raph did a little reconning around the area and I was protecting your body. When they’re done, Mikey found this,” The mutant turtle pointed at the newspaper date.
“August 6, 2015,” Splinter murmured in shock.
Donatello nods, “I would’ve said we’re in the future if it weren’t the fact the publishing company is different. Of course, I had taken into account the possibility of a new publishing company and future and such, but it says the company has been around since the 1887s. In our universe, it's Hearst, but here it's Hirst.”
“And don’t forget you dragged me to places!” Chimed Michelangelo.
His third oldest sighed, “And the fact I dragged Mikey to find areas that were supposed to be familiar but to only see to be slightly altered, but still related to our universe.”
“Dollar Tree is waaaay better than Cheap Shop,” Splinter’s youngest proclaimed.
“It is a little on the nose,” Donatello agreed.
“Ok, sensei is up to date. What are we going to do now?” Grunted Rapheal.
Splinter’s whiskers twitched at the small made wind.
Donatello puts a thoughtful expression, “We find this universe turtles.”
“No need,” a hoarse voice echoed through the valley.
Splinter remains in a relaxed form while his sons draw out their weapons.
Two pairs of white eyes dropped down from the fire escape stairs and stepped out of the shadows to show two giant mutant turtles.
‘Their body is completely submerged in the shadow.’ Splinter mused as he was impressed. For he knew these turtles only showed visibility because they wanted to.
“Your Don aaaaand your Leo?” Questioned Michelangelo in a disbelief tone, as he tucked away his nun-chuck.
Splinter can see why his son is in disbelief. The two mutants have different sizes. The one wearing a purple bandana—Who Splinter assumes to be Donatello—is tall and lanky, his muscles aren’t pronounced much, and his eye colour is reddish brown. While his blue bandana companion—Leonardo… Splinter’s heart is riddled with anxiety at the thought of his eldest—is smaller than this universe’s Donatello, with more pronounced muscles and his eye colour is silver-blue.  While his sons have the same height, same muscles, and same eye colour, except for Michelangelo’s baby blue eyes.
“Yes, and yes,” Alternate Donatello answered dismissively, “So, what are you guys doing in our dimension? And what year is it on your end?”
“Ok–hold up. How can we be sure we can trust you,” Raphael questioned and interrupted before Donatello could answer his counterparts’ questions.
The alternate of his first and third eldest had shared an amused yet exasperated look at each other.
“From the looks of things, you act like our Raph. And if you're anything like our Raph” Alternate Donatello started, “You won’t trust our words regardless,” Alternate Leonardo finished.
“They got you there,” Donatello pointed out with an amused tone as he sheathed his Bō-staff.
Rapheal growled and grumpily crossed his arms after he sheathed his Sais. But the red-clad turtle is glaring warily at the alternate turtles.
“For your earlier questions. We didn’t mean to be here as we were forcefully sucked–“
Michelangelo laughs “Ha ha ha, suck.”
“–into a vortex. And it’s the year 2007 in our dimension.” Donatello continued as if he wasn’t interrupted.
‘Thank Spirit’
Splinter inwardly raised an eyebrow at what alternate Leonardo said. With Splinter’s ability to read lips, he managed to understand the young turtle’s words.
“Hm… What’s the source of the vortex? I might be able to replicate it.”
Donatello grimaced at the thought of the unusual source of the portal, “Stars alignment.”
“Excuse me?” Alternate Donatello stared at his son, with a gaze asking if he was joking.
“Yeah…” Unfortunately, Donatello isn’t joking.
“Right…” Came a dazed reply, “Not the weirdest transportation… What’s the stars' alignment called and how long to form?”
“Stars of Kicaan, and 3000 years to align,” Donatello answers.
“Leo?” The alternate genius turtle turned to his brother.
This universe of his eldest shook his head, “Maybe it forms on another planet,”
Alternate Universe Donatello hummed, “That is possible… Do you think Mona Lisa or Bishop has some information? Or willing to–”
Ba pa ba pa ba pa baa pa!
Alternate Leonardo was interrupted by a shell with a screen on it(?).
Splinter and his sons watched the object being tapped in the alternate blue-clad turtle’s hand and shared it with his Donatello.
“Looks like we’ll get information from Mona Lisa,” Alternate Leonardo said as he tucked away the small shell away. “We’re going to the Mutanimals,” Leonardo informed as he parkoured up to the building’s roof
“What? And where’s that?” Raphael loudly questioned, although, it sounded like a demand.
“Upper Manhattan,” Alternate Leonardo answered, not showing if he was bothered or not at Splinter’s hotheaded son tone, “And I hope you don’t mind being named by Mikey,” The alternate blue-clad turtled added.
“What about being named by me?” Michelangelo curiously asked as they followed his alternate brother’s example.
“Mikey–well our Mikey–likes naming things. Villains, people, or objects.” Alternate Leonardo explained.
“And if you named something without him, he’ll sulk for days,” The alternate purple-clad genius rolled his eyes.
Raphael scowled, “Why the fuck does he want to name us? We already have names!”
“Because there are two versions of each of us. So, he’ll want to name you or us. And judging by the text, Raph successfully threaten him to name you guys instead,” Alternate Donatello explained.
“Alright,” All six mutants dropped down in front of a vehicle, “Meet my baby, Shellraiser,” Alternate Donatello presented in a proud ‘Ta-Da’ position.
“Woah…”
The alternate version of his son revelled in the amazed look from Splinter’sfamily.
“Make yourself at home, But! Don’t break anything! Or dirty anything!” Alternate Donatello said as he sat in front of multiple monitors. While his brother sat at the steering wheel.
“Alright,” Alternate Leonardo secured his seatbelt, “Thirty-six minutes away from upper Manhattan,” The mutant set the Stick Shift.

“違う亀ですか?” Questioned Karai to the kneeling ninja. She had just been informed by one of her chuunin, who knows about her mutation and her other family members and even met them, about a Mutant Turtle with a blue bandana and twin katanas, that isn’t her brother.
“はい、カライさま” The ninja confirmed.
Karai sighed, “彼はどこにいる?”
“河童は会議室にいますよ、カライさま。” The ninja answered diligently.
Karai waved her hand, “解雇する” and the ninja disappeared.
Karai stayed still for a few moments, “Shinigami,” Karai turned to her Chuunin[4], “What do you think?”
“On whether this is an actual yokai tricking us or just an alternate version of your brothers?” Shinigami questioned, as she sat on Karai’s desk.
Karai let out a small smile, as she intertwines their fingers together, “Both.”
Shini hummed before magicking a flower, “Let’s pick Dendrobium petals, and see our answer,”
“Kame”
Pick
“Brother”
Fall
“Kame”
Pick
“Brother”
Fall
“Kame”

“Brother”
Fall
“Kame”

“Brother”

Karai watched as Shinigami plucked off the petals and let them fall to the ground until the last petal is in her hand.
“Brother,” Shinigami eyed the dendrobium petal with a Cheshire smile.
Shinigami let the petal fall to Karai’s palm. Which the Jounin [5] eyed.
“Tell Daisuke to put other Leo in a box–“ Karai paused as a mischievous idea formed in her head, “Actually–put him in a closet, and the inside must have these colours,” Karai handed a piece of paper, “And appoint a flight to New York.”
“As you wished,” Shinigami dramatically bowed and disappeared in a puff of smoke in her wake.

[1] Knowing these two humans looking like Leatherhead’s friends would compromise him. It would feel like he’s attacking his friends. Mona on the other hand thinks these humans were playing a dirty trick to look like her friends, by looking like her friends, these humans thinks she won’t attack them.
[2] Salamander, Leopard Gecko, and Crocodiles has better night vision than humans. Leatherhead is a mixed mutant between Alligator-Crocodile-Human

@spoocys-glade-of-dreams
When the video call would finally start, Kiki's face could be seen. She looked extremely angry, eyes like daggers in Jesse's direction.
"What the fuck Jesse? I knew you had the hots for Ellie but I never thought you'd turn into a psychopath. Your lucky I'm not over there right now because oh boy, I'd seriously kick your ass!" Upon further inspection, the woman noticed that something was done to his face
"Ha! Looks like someone already did!"
"Yeah, that was Ellie's doing. I let her give me a black eye and a nosebleed. After everything I've done to her, I deserve it."
"Serves you right jackass!"
"Alright Kiki, that's enough. Let's crank it back a bit shall we?" Natalie suggested.
"Thank you Natalie. Now, let's get to the matter at hand. Jesse's punishment." Grandpa cleared his throat before continuing. "Jesse, to say what you did was awful is an understatement. Ellie has been through so much, and now she has one more piece of trauma to add to it. The poor lass."
"But Ellie wasn't the only one effected by your actions. Her circle of people that care about her were effected as well." Natalie added.
"I...got a huge wake up call when Hoyt's bodyguard tossed me in that cage. What I did to Ellie was awful. The kidnapping, the slapping, and of course the way I treated her while we were in the resistance group together was awful...."
-------------------------
"O-oh okay, if you say so honey. I just thought you might need some assistance." Ellie put the first aide kit to the side for the time being. She listened to Rayman as he began to explain the origin behind why he decided to take up a gun in the first place.
"Watching out for assassins? That makes a lot of sense. You played a big role at the time, so it made sense that you needed to defend yourself when the time was right. Knowing how Eden is Eden, you never know what could happen. It's also nice that you wanted to learn those skills to help Mona when she helped you when you needed it the most."
Tumblr media
"After seeing what you did back at Hoyt's warehouse, I fell in love with you all over again~"
"They butted heads often? Yeah Ramon and I do butt heads on more than one occasion but most of the time it's just us pokin' fun of each other like two bickering brothers. Someone's gotta be ready to put their foot down if Ramon does try to overreact on duty. He can be emotionally fueled. I'm actually surprised he handled himself as well as he did on this. Letting your emotions fuel you in this type of work can lead to people getting killed. I've had to keep a lot of mine in check. Yet I'm guilty of letting it bubble to the surface and just burstin' like a bottle of soda pop that's been shaken up.
While I'm not going to do much with your punishment, I'm going to leave that in the hands of Natalie and her team. It's only fair that they get a chance to talk about this and I'll let them take care of you if need be. I already stated what I was going to do and I plan to get started on that once we're done here. Now. Sit back. I've got an important video call to make."
*Murfy would leave the room for a moment and come back with Raymona's laptop. He would begin contacting Natalie and told her that he needed to talk with her and her team as soon as possible. He mentioned that he'd like to pull her into a video call to discuss things with the rest of her group, and he would wait for a response.*
---------------------------
*Ramon gave a "Huh?" as Ellie snapped out of his thoughts. He placed his injured hand over the graze wound on his cheek and just let a sigh escape through his nose*
"Don't trouble yourself with this, Ellie. I-I'll take care of it later."
*He looked towards her as she sat down beside him. A small smile grew on his face when they began to reminisce. He gave a playful smirk and there was a tinge of pride in his voice.*
"I had to pay you back somehow" -he chuckled. He then placed a hand beneath his chin and leaned against the arm of the sofa as he just stared across the room. - "I had to learn some skills when I came here from Dimension X. Mona was my protector and I wanted to be able to return the favor. Part of my training with The Emperor was "Always be within arms reach of a weapon in the event of an assassin."
So I always carried a gun with me somewhere. Little secret: I always had a pistol under my desk when I was on set for the news broadcasts. I had one in a holster beneath my suit jacket when I was performing Retribution Day Live. Small weapons mostly, I upgraded to bigger ones when I went after the board themselves.
Now I intend to use those skills to help free Eden from all the oppression, and I now I will use them to keep you safe."

TMNT Next Gen chapter 3
Tumblr media
Back in the lair, all the kids are just hanging out, bored out of their minds.
"Ughhhhh! They have been gone forever!" Mei groaned as she swung on the tire swing.
"I hope nothing bad happened," Kiba said, holding the punching bag dummy as Irrilia went ham on it.
"Ya! We’d be stuck down here not able to help!" She yelled while slamming her fists into the dummy’s chest.
"I mean, they did say to wait until 11 to assume anything is up," Dakota said, tugging at one of his gloves.
"Uhh, well maybe they're just bringing back more food, and everything’s all just a false alarm," Kohanna said, overly hopeful.
Iris rolled her eyes at the redhead’s positivity as Ash just looked in disgust.
"Hey, Cody! Finished with your math yet?!" Dakota yelled towards the kitchen.
"Almost! Kohanna showed me how to do it, but it still might take a while!" Cody yelled back.
Kohanna and Iris just shook their heads in disappointment when suddenly, vine and Mona ran through the room towards the door.
"Whoah, wait! What's wrong, i-is everything ok?" Kiba asked, startled by their sudden appearance.
"The others should be arriving any minute now. With both Mondo, and Rockwell in critical condition." Mona said at the lair entrance.
"What!?" Irillia yelled, immediately holding back her punches.
"Yeah, apparently, their base had been raided and destroyed!" Vine said urgently, looking at his phone.
"Wait! How? They have both Slash and leatherhead! Who the heck can get past them?!" Dakota yelled as Cody, along with Mikey and Casey, ran into the room.
They heard the shuffle of feet outside, running towards the lair.
"Only something really bad," Iris answered as their parents rushed through the lair entrance with both mondo and Rockwell in hand.
"Quickly to my lab!" Donnie yelled as they sprinted through the living area.
The kids quickly got up and rushed behind them to the lab and saw an unconscious mondo and Rockwell get placed on the examining table. Angel and Donnie quickly got to work observing their physical states.
"Their techniques have gotten stronger," Angel said as she examined the oozing green wounds on the mutant's bodies.
She took out a glowing green dart and placed it on a metal tray.
"Any signs of severe physical trauma?" Donnie asked rushing to get his supplies.
"No, but something is definitely wrong. I'll take a blood test, maybe we will see what has changed." Angel said getting extra supplies out.
Raph, Karai, and Leo rushed into the room.
"I can't believe these idiots are still out there! I thought we took them down!" Raph yelled standing next to Leo.
"Yeah, what if they go after us again? I mean they clearly have some form of insight on where the city's mutants are hiding." Leo said concerned.
"And how exactly would they learn that Leonardo?" Karai asked.
The kids stood at the door not able to comprehend what they were hearing.
     "What?" Kiba hissed eyes wide.
"Hold on a second! You mean those idiots who kidnapped us as babies are still alive!" Irillia yelled barging into the room.
"Look we're just as confused as you are." April said trying to control her nerves.
Everyone looked at each other in fear.
If April couldn't tell what has happened, then something is definitely up.
"Oh no." Donnie said from the microscope he was using.
"What is it?" Karai said walking up next to Angel who was now stitching up their mutant friend's wounds.
"They enhanced the Antigen. The mutagen in their body has become unstable to the point it's attacking their own bodies." Donnie said turning towards the group.
"Well, can you reverse it? I mean we've dealt with things like this before." Vine said.
"Yeah but not to this scale. Even the slightest wrong move could turn them into who knows what." Donnie added.
"Well, there has to be something Donnie. Before we know it this could be used against every mutant in the city including us." Leo said starting to get angry.
"Look we're trying our best with what we know! I might be able to counteract it if I use and edit the serum. That way it could in the end reverse itself, but that will take time." Donnie said anxiously scratching at the back of his neck.
The room fell into silence as a state of fear fell on the family.
"What are we gonna do?" Kohanna whispered to iris.
Iris looked at her mother and Donnie who were currently trying to save their close friends.
     "I have no idea."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone was ordered out of the lab so Donnie and Angel could work, but the tensions kept building. April looked faint, gripping at her arms as Mikey and Casey tried to comfort her.
“Calm down, red. Everything is gonna be fine; don and Angel got this handled.” Casey said, placing a hand on her shoulder.
April's grip at her arms tightened before staring at the teens who were looking away from the situation.
"Yeah, everything will turn out all right. There is no need to stress yourself." Mikey added with his usual goofy smile.
Leo crossed his arms, facing away from the group. He stared down at the floor, gritting his teeth working his hand up to a faded scar that rested at the side of his face.
How did we come back to this?

"Irrilia! Eat your food!" Raph yelled from the kitchen, trying to get the baby turtle salamandrian to take the spoon into her mouth.
Irrilia wailed in response, slinging the food in his face.
Raph growled, wiping his face as Mikey and Casey began to laugh.
"Shut up, you morons. Don't you have your own kids to be watching!?" Raph raged as applesauce stained his mask.
Dakota and Cody toddled next to Mikey.
"Speaking of the devil." Casey said, reaching down to ruff up his twin son's hair.
The twins began to wander the room as Irillia continued to make a mess of her breakfast from a couple of hours ago.
Casey released a yawn checking his phone.
Cody reached for the oven handle with curiosity as Dakota opened a cabinet. Casey's eyes went wide.
"Whoah, whoah, whoah! Don't do that!" Casey screeched quickly, grabbing for his kids and closing all the safety hazards they had managed to open. "What happened to all the child safety locks?"
"Irrilia chewed them off." Raph groaned.
"Donnie's supposed to be making some new ones soon. Ones that hopefully will be immune to alien spit." Mikey added using a rag to tie some of the cabinets closed.
"Yikes." Casey wheezed, gripping his son's hands.
"Could you guys keep it down?"
The residents of the room turned toward the source of the sound.
"Kohanna is trying to nap, and me and Donnie can only drink so much coffee." April stood in the kitchen doorway with heavy bags under her eyes.
"It would definitely be quieter if these two stopped laughing and supporting Irillias temper tantrums." Raph spooned more of the food mush and urged it to his daughter.
Casey gagged. "Whatever bro. Imma go get some real food. Watch Cody and Dakota while I'm out, and make sure they don't get into anything." Casey said, walking to the door.
"What!? Don’t just leave your kids for us to deal with!" Raph yelled, causing Irillia to cry again.
"Stop, stop your scaring her." Mikey said, cooing at the tiny green infant.
"Like you haven't scared your two runts just by looking at them."
"They're only like a month-old dude! And they're still getting over their time travel jetlag.' Mikey objected pointing a finger at him.
Raph growled as Mikey glared at him. April did not have the energy to deal with this.
"would you two please"-The sound of A cry pulsated through the room along with the grumbling of a sleep-deprived Donnie.
April groaned, glaring at Raph and Mikey before leaving the room.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the living room, Leo sat there with Kiba sitting up in his lap as the noise from the TV echoed in the room. The qubits were playing, and Kiba appeared to be enjoying it.
"Leo, do you have any spare pacifiers?" Donnie entered the room, rubbing his eyes.
"I think Karai had some that were washed in the kitchen." Leo turned his head to his brother gesturing to the kitchen.
Kiba stared at the screen as a white pig in a dress was stuffed in a bag. Leo remained confused as Kiba giggled in the background when a frog ran after what appeared to be a kidnapper.
Leo looked down at his daughter with a questioning look as more of the show's villainous actions made her laugh. Or maybe it was the bad guy getting beat up. He honestly couldn't tell.
Kiba looked up at him joyfully, holding her flower blanket, making him smile.
"Hey, Leo, mind if we join you?" Mikey asked as Cody sat next to them, poorly bouncing a rubber ball on the floor.
"Fine with me, just make sure they don't change"-The screen flickered into static as Dakota curiously pushed and turned the buttons and knobs of the television.
"Oh no." Kiba began to whimper before her eyes turned snake-like, and fangs popped out of her mouth.
"MIKEY! FIX THE TV!" Leo's eyes were wide as Kiba began to hiss and wail.
Mikey yelped, grabbing Dakota and rushing to fiddle with the switches and buttons. Kiba cried louder, with Raph running into the room and Irrilia screaming in her highchair.
"Will you guys shut it already?!" Raph yelled, face covered in baby food.
Mikey started moving more urgently, with the speaker starting to screech making the infants in the room scream.
"Mikey!" Both Leo and Raph yelled as Donnie hurried into the room.
"I'm trying, ok!?" Mikey cried before the Screen went black.
The brothers blanked out in confusion before noticing Angel holding a cord in her hand as she stood behind the vintage VCR set up with another infant in her arms.
The room went silent as the crying began to cease.
"Thanks, Angel," Mikey said before flopping on his back.
Angel sighed, entering the main area.
"Finally." Raph rubbed his ears and went back to the kitchen.
"So I see that you guys have been holding up well with mona and Karai on patrol." She sat down at the bench.
Leo and Mikey just looked at her, with both of them having shallow and lined faces from lack of sleep.
She faintly laughed as Dakota and Cody walked over and looked at the blanket-wrapped baby in her arms. Iris was fast asleep.

So, the PLL Series Finale was as bad as I remember.
The Minor Offenses:
The Callbacks - These are inevitable in a series finale for any show that’s as long as PLL is, and I thought some of them worked cute and worked (Spoby Scrabble Game, Hanna handing Em a tissue at the Ezria wedding and saying “Today you do,” just like she did with the flask in the Pilot). But most of them felt forced and just... out of place.
The minor antagonist revivals. Throwing characters like Jenna, Lucas, and Melissa on our screens one last time just for them to be there. Lucas was in a dream sequence, Melissa was teased as an antagonist for it to be another “hyper-realistic” mask. Jenna was arguably the most useful as she LITERALLY IDENTIFIED THAT SPENCER WAS NOT SPENCER. Who decided Jenna was gonna be the one to figure it out???
Ending the series on the Ezria wedding as our last major touchstone with the girls (at least, prior to their little rendezvous in the park). It’s just for a show that became so Spencer-focused in the final seasons, and I have stuff to write about that in a separate post, the fact we go back to our first 2 seasons main character of Aria for the fade out is just questionable? It feels like if we were going to end on a major life moment of one of the girls, it should have been... Spencer? They’d written her as the main character since literal Season 3 onward.
The “happy endings” - I think the writers genuinely forgot these girls are supposed to be 23. Why were Haleb trying for a baby! They’re 23! Same for Ezria, though I guess Ezra is older but Aria is ALSO 23. Emison ALSO have babies and are 23. Why do all these children have to have children.
The Major Offenses:
(Note: I’m ignoring the reveal in itself as an offense. Commentary on who “AD” is would take way too long and has been hashed out by everyone before already)
The fact it takes 45 minutes to get our reveal; everything in the episode before Alex is inconsequential drivel
The relationship drama- The only drama I can excuse is the Ezria “I can’t have kids” squabble because it has plot relevance in making the girls think Ezra skipped out on the wedding rather than that he was kidnapped. But honestly, why the fuck were Haleb squabbling throughout the episode about Mona and their potential kids- why was that necessary in the finale?
The Addison Thing. Just.. no. It was bad. All of S7 it was bad, but the final scene was particularly egregious. Why was Maya’s cousin one of the girls in the posse? WHY does Addison go missing exactly like Alison with identical dialogue? It’s uh... dumb.
So, was any of it good? Sure:
I genuinely enjoyed the Alex flashbacks, them showing when exactly Alex was acting as Spencer and especially the Alex/Wren backstory. Wren is a diamond is one of my favorite things from the series in its entirety.
Controversial, but I love the Mona ending. In my opinion, rather than the extra Addison scene, that’s where the series should have ended. Is it fucked up? Absolutely, but that’s kind of been the point of PLL all along. Mona has never been able to get better, the writers will never let her, despite her attempts again and again, but she is shown to have real love for the girls (especially Hanna), and the audience ROOTS for her. I think the Mary & Alex dolls are her happy ending, and obviously, as intended, she’s finally “won the game.” I think it’s a fantastic ending note overall to have the original fan favorite “A” finally win the game.

Do not reblog. I also blame @peachiiihearts for encouraging me
I really want to watch more Rise episodes before adding Donatello and Big Mana but, years ago in like 2k12 period times I used to have a sideblog for 1987's Mona Lisa and watching the show kinda woke her up.
I'm thinking of bringing her back but as a Rise Time line AU where instead of a college student that got mutated after being kidnapped by a pirate.
She was a high school intern for a makeup company that was secretly using their products on salamanders to try out their creams and stuff, when the bugs got let loose before she could go to the press she was accidentally mutated and ends up working with Big Mama as one of her bodyguards.

"Greetings, your Majesty." Geist stated after seeing Denys. "We kind-of dropped in last minute."
Janne nodded, greeting Denys along with Magnolia. "Yeah, about that...we'll have to take an immediate trip to Melodia after dinner for emergency reasons."
Janne, Geist, and Mona took their places at the table as Mona spoke up.
"I accidentally assisted in a kidnapping. The kidnapped person is apparently being rescued now, but needs safe passage back to Luxendarc where he came from." The teddy bear in her arms nodded as if to affirm her words.
"And I'm going to see after if I can get Kamiizumi to come along...mainly to handle DeRosa." Geist added with a sigh. "I have a feeling we'll need him."
"You're using him as the Red Mage's flirting bait?" Janne looked up at Geist. "Ouch."
"Hopefully. I'd hate for the Melodians and their friends to regret rescuing him if he gets overly flirty for their liking." A little chuckle left Geist. "Countess Tahirah thought of trying to make this occasion into a get-together, too..."

An add-on to my own designs of TMNT! In my version, there's a idol/mascot company called Divame (it's very similar to how we have Sanrio), and there are 3 idols that are currently a part of it:
Shinigami- She started the company with Tiger Claw, whom she met when she was a teenager when he was attacked and thrown out by his parents for his mutant state. She hoped that the company would help frame mutants in a positive light so that they wouldn't be harmed and exiled by humans. As an idol, she has a witch/necromancer persona, but people outside of the company don't know that she actually does have mystic abilities. She's 24, and trained under her mother her whole childhood to hone her birth-given abilities. She's a healer, incredibly helpful and kind, resourceful, and loves being a statement of power that inspires young kids to be themselves.
Tiger Claw- He was a human kidnapped at a young age and mutated by the Kraang, as they were hoping to take Earthling beings and turn them into half-Kraang warriors that had the physical strength the Kraang didn't possess, as well as being able to adapt to both Dimension X and Earth with ease. He escaped but was attacked by his parents when they saw him, so he ran away until he found Shinigami who helped him. He's 23, only a year younger than Shini, and as an idol he takes the persona of a cowboy. He likes working with Shini and Mona, is incredibly kind despite his large (sometimes intimidating) stature, goes out of his way to help others, and loves being the shoulder for others to cry on. The cutesy persona of the company helps him cope with his own trauma, as he hates the fact he was created as a weapon.
Mona Lisa- She was a college student who was mutated by a cruel peer named Baxter Stockman after she naively agreed to help him with a "biology project" he had, to which she was later disowned by her parents as they freaked out over her mutant state. The company, Divame, had been up for a couple years at that point, so Mona tried to get in contact with them just to ask for advice on how Tiger Claw handled his mutation. She hadn't known other mutants at the time and didn't know what to do, to which Divame offered her a place with them. She was the youngest out of all 3 of them, being only 19 at the time while they were 21 and 22, but she felt safe with her new family and has been working with them for a couple years now. As and idol, she has an 80s getup and is an icon largely associated with the internet. A lot of people have her as one of those interactive avatars you can get on your desktop. She's sweeter than honey, light and bubbly, and loves working with kids; the fact that they are the most accepting of her state is an added bonus of being around children.
I designed these drawings similar to character backgrounds people download/ads you might see for mascot companies.

And me and @freckledpianoman are back with more Beth Chapel content! Continuing from this post, here’s even more headcanons about our favourite Dr Mid-Nite:
Beth is nearsighted and started wearing glasses when she was three and a half. Bridget started noticing that her daughter kept squinting all the time and eventually took her to an eye doctor, attributing Beth needing glasses so early to all the times that she hid under the covers with a flashlight and read late into the night instead of sleeping
Her prescription is really strong and while her glasses correct most of her vision, she still needs accommodations like enlarged and high contrast texts and other visual aids
Chuck eventually becomes another accommodation since he acts as a cross between telescopic and magnifying glasses and a talking watch
She’s fluent in French thanks to her grandma Beatrice’s influence and she can carry a conversation in Spanish (she picked it up from Bridget, who often talks with her patients in Spanish) and Norwegian. That last language throws people off when they first hear about it, but it comes in handy when four-year-old Pieter Cross and his family (who don’t speak much English) move to Blue Valley from Trondheim, Norway
Yolanda grumbles about not being able to talk to Beth in Spanish class whenever she’s home sick from school because she's the one decent conversation partner she has in that class
Rick often practices translating for his French class with Beth. Once he goofed and said “madame le docteur”. And poor Beth was close to shaking him and going, “Rick, that's wrong on so many levels”
He knows by the incredulous look on her face that he’s all sorts of wrong and he blushes all embarrassed. But later he mistranslates on purpose just to see her adorable reactions
She wants to pick up more languages eventually (she’s deciding if she wants to take both Mandarin and Arabic in college like her dad did) and is currently learning ASL
Beth is a Star Trek fan thanks to her dad’s influence. She and James would watch reruns of Deep Space Nine while she was growing up and it was their way of bonding. While that tradition didn’t happen as often when Beth started high school, she and Yolanda (who had watched Voyager with her brother and cousins) eventually start a tradition of watching Star Trek Discovery
Beth and Yolanda’s love for Star Trek is often a point of contention with Rick and Courtney, who are both Star Wars fans. It’s been the subject of a lot of arguments about what to watch for JSA marathons. Pat is usually the tie breaker
Beth learned how to garden from her grandma Beatrice, who raises African violets in her rooftop garden. Beth’s backyard isn’t big enough for a garden so instead she keeps all sorts of plants in her room, including little teacup succulents on her bedroom windowsill and in honeycomb shelves
While her backyard’s too small for a garden, there’s a pink dogwood tree and she loves reading and having picnics under it when it’s in bloom. In the summer Beth makes her own butterfly feeders and hang them from the tree and watch the butterflies gather
She grew up listening to Schoolhouse Rock thanks to her dad, who would play their songs in the kitchen whenever he made breakfast on Saturday mornings while she was growing up. Even now, Beth sings along to them whenever she hears them and Chuck starting adding them to karaoke mode, including her favourites “Three is a Magic Number”, “The Tale of Mr Morton”, and “The Energy Blues”
When she was in middle school, she started using the melody of Schoolhouse Rock songs to memorize things like country names and the periodic table. She used the latter to help Rick memorize different elements for his chem class. Yolanda actually caught Rick softly singing to himself at his locker when he was searching for his notes for one last read through
“Beth got you to sing? Willingly?” “I wasn't singing, you’re hearing things.”
Courtney is weirded out by the fact that Beths texts with Mike of all people, but it's mostly through gifs, emojis, and random memes. She has no idea what they even talk about, saying that Beth texts with Mike more often than she does with Rick, much to the latter’s annoyance. In reality Beth and Mike talk about robotics competitions, the latest episode of whatever they were binging (this week was Julie and the Phantoms), and their ongoing bet on when Courtney and Yolanda will finally get together
If Beth wins, Mike has to help upgrade her costume and if he wins, she owes him an ice cream cake
“It's like their own little nerd language, it makes no sense.”
Her style icon when she was little was Ms Frizzle. Beth thought that Ms Frizzle’s themed dresses and jewellery were so cool and she wanted to dress up like her. She still loves Ms Frizzle’s style and you can see the influence it has on Beth’s fashion from bright colours, unique patterns, and quirky jewellery
Beth has a special section in her closet for Ms Frizzle like outfits that she wears to the children’s library she volunteers at. It makes her very popular with the kids there
She actually dressed up as Ms Frizzle for Halloween in seventh grade
Despite being on opposite sides, Beth and Cindy have a begrudging respect for each other similar to Betty and Wilhelmina’s relationship on Ugly Betty, Beth being the JSA member that Cindy tolerates the most
Cindy begrudgingly thinks that she does know a thing or two about fashion because she often upcycles clothes. Courtney’s surprised that Beth’s still alive after she said that Cindy dresses like an evil PTA mom within earshot, though she did kidnap Beth a few times for a shopping spree
“Get in loser, we’re going shopping!” “Did you just quote Mean Girls?”
The first time they had a standoff, Cindy went “please, I’m Japanese, you’re Black, we’re not talking around this thing like a couple of dull white people”
Cindy once called Rick a feral raccoon and smirked when it made Beth accidentally burst out laughing
While Beth is more than confident with her personal style, but she’s still very new to makeup in general. Yolanda and Artemis (even Cindy much to everyone’s shock) have taken it upon themselves to help experiment with makeup and find out what she likes. Beth immediately knows that she doesn’t like mascara, even as Yolanda scolds her to stay still while she’s trying to put mascara on her
“You’re making it seem like I’m torturing you.” “Your superhero costume has claws, that doesn’t exactly scream safe.” “I’ll have you know I’m very practiced with my claws, now stay still!”
Beth likes the lipsticks and glosses much better, she likes the different colours and how it feels on her lips
She has to get used to the feeling of makeup on her face in general, but she doesn’t mind it and she’s shocked when she looks in the mirror. It’s still very much her, but it's like she’s glowing. She can’t stop smiling and the girls all look at her fondly
And they also exchange knowing looks, knowing that Rick is going to lose his mind
She did a history report on Bessie Coleman in middle school and she eventually drew inspiration for her Dr Mid-Nite costume from looking at photos of Bessie’s pilot outfit
Beth and her mom often did ceramics classes when she was a kid. They weren’t very good at it at first, but the little lopsided knick knacks they made always made them laugh. Beth and Bridget got better over the years with Beth painting colours and patterns on whatever her mom helped her make before they went into the kiln. She thought they would be plain otherwise and Bridget agreed with her
While ceramics classes have since stopped, they still use the honeycomb mugs and planters that they made and painted when Beth was in middle school. Bridget uses one for the aloe vera plant she keeps in her office at the hospital
Beth is allergic to pineapple. She found out during a school trip in third grade when Henry offered some of his fruit salad and she ended up with a swollen face and tongue, which really freaked Artemis and Cindy out. Yolanda and the villain kids ended up taking care of her until the ambulance came and Beth jokes that it was the one time the JSA and ISA kids worked together on something
She now carries an epipen in her backpack and Rick has taken to carrying a backup one in his jacket in case Beth can’t get to her backpack in time
She had a stargazing phase that she never grew out of. Her parents got her a mini telescope for her fifth birthday and Bridget started teaching her about the solar system before Beth started learning about constellations on her own. Bridget jokes that if her daughter hadn’t been set on becoming a doctor, she would’ve gone into astrophysics
Beth still has a telescope set up by her bedroom window. Sometimes when she has trouble sleeping and she’s not in the mood to read, she’ll look for constellations through the telescope while Chuck chimes in with little known star facts
She also has a starry globe nightlight and a constellation globe
She and Rick sometimes have stargazing “dates” out on her back porch. They curl up together in a patio chair with midnight snacks while they watch meteor showers. Sometimes Yolanda and Courtney will join them, curled up together in the other patio chair
Beth and Courtney often have karaoke nights at the Pit Stop after Pat souped up Barbara’s old karaoke machine. The usual playlist includes fun 80s and 90s jams as well as modern songs like Bruno Mars, Lizzo, and Janelle Monae. Yolanda often joins them for girl group songs (Little Mix is a favourite), even though she protests that she’s not much of a singer when she’s not singing Selena songs
Rick gets roped into doing a song too, much to his dismay. Courtney pouts and complains that he has to because there’s an unspoken rule that everyone has to sing
“I don't sing, dammit.” “Oh really, are you forgetting about that little ditty you were singing before your chem test?”
Beth sees how nervous Rick is and decides to go easy on him, finding a slow, bluesy song that he can keep up with and assuring him that even if he can’t croon those long deep notes, everyone will cheer him on. He ends up giving the best performance of the night, shocking the girls and impressing them all
He blushes when he sees Beth looking at him all starry eyed
When Beth was growing up, her family would have game night every Thursday and they were always old fashioned board games like Clue, Scrabble, and Pictionary. Whenever they would play Clue, Beth would always choose to be Miss Scarlett while her dad would switch between Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard. Beth could never beat her mom at Scrabble and it often ended up with Beth’s chemistry words versus Bridget’s medical terms
While game nights have since stopped, James will sometimes have Beth join him for a card game at three or four in the morning after he comes back from a business trip. He taught her how to play games like crazy eights, gin rummy, and cribbage when she was in middle school and it’s now their way of catching up after he comes back from travelling
Both her parents are only children. James’ family was originally from California before he moved to Nebraska for work while Bridget’s family are of Louisiana Creole descent and hail from Omaha. Beth is quite close to Bridget’s side of the family, especially with her second cousin Delphine’s family. Beth sometimes helps look after Delphine’s daughter Eliana whenever she and her husband are in town
Rick once mistook Eliana for Beth’s baby, hilarity ensued
Beth has a love for animals and since the fandom has collectively decided that Beth is a Disney Princess, she has a particular talent for being an accidental animal tamer. During a mission, three of the ISA’s attack dogs made a beeline for her and attacked her with doggie kisses instead of doing their job
The ISA are torn between being pissed (“when the hell did Mid-Nite become an animal tamer?”) and confused. Sportsmaster is vaguely impressed and takes it as a challenge
Later they tried scaring Beth with a python, which only really worked on Yolanda (“oh my god, what is that?”) while Beth just boops the snake on its snout. The snake swooned. So did Rick
After Rick and Yolanda recover from the shock, they look at the trio of attack dogs follow Beth all the way to the Pit Stop and go “we’re not keeping you”. Rick just hopes that the trio are the only attack dogs that follow her back home. He wishes that he had been more specific because he was not expecting an actual maned wolf suddenly coming up and sniffing all over Beth during a visit to the Dugan-Whitmores’ cabin
“What the fuck, where did that come from and why is it all over Beth?!”
It turns out that Beth didn’t realize that she had a cookie in one of her pockets and the maned wolf caught a whiff of it and was now trying to find it. The way it sniffs her is ticklish and she’s laughing the entire time
Once the maned wolf brought over a friend to see Beth and Courtney goes, “aww, he met another–oh my god, that’s a panther!” The panther also wanted one of Beth’s treats and it swooped in between her and Rick and started pawing at her like a spoiled kitten
Rick picked Beth up and carried her inside because “we can’t trust her outside anymore”

Everyone was already on the jet and waiting for me when I stepped on. Gideon, Morgan, Emily, and Reid were all sitting at the four seats around the table, leaving me with one of the nearby single seats or the edge of the couch. I stuffed my go back in the overhead bin and took a seat on the edge of the couch. Morgan handed me an official case file for the sixty-three missing homeless people in Kansas City. I opened the file to take a look. They had transcribed everything Detective McGee gave them for the file, and Garcia had also added whatever she could, despite the fact that there wasn’t much documented in our system. They had been working on the case while I was gone, so they already had an idea of what the profile of the Unsub was.
Morgan ran me through everything they already knew. Our Unsub was what we liked to call a “housecleaner”, which meant that this kind of Unsub viewed himself as a hero who was cleaning the streets of the “filth”, which in this case was the homeless. It made sense that this was their first step in the profile since sixty-three people had gone missing, and the only link in victimology was the fact that they were all homeless. He wasn’t delusional enough to not conceptualize that murder is still bad, but he figured that his murders were excusable because he was helping the world by ridding it of “filth”. Because he has a housecleaner’s superiority complex, he was likely an unpleasant man who left everyone he met with a bad feeling about him, but they weren’t sure why. That makes him a loner, and he blames the world for that. So rather than take on a friend or partner, he likely has someone who is subservient to him to help him with these kidnappings and murders.
According to Detective McGee’s reports, he started noticing the disappearances about a year ago, which meant that the stressor likely happened around that time— no more than three months prior to the disappearances. Since he was a loner and he was a dislikable person, it was fair to assume that the stressor was losing someone who was important to him and loved him no matter who he was, which led us to believe that it was a family member who had passed away. Spencer brought up that the Unsubs likely didn’t have any jobs because of how frequent the disappearances were occurring.
“Sounds like I missed all the fun,” I laughed. They had practically done the whole case on their own while I was gone. All that was left to do was to get onto the ground and find the guy who matched the description.
When we landed in Kansas City, we headed directly to the precinct to meet up with Hotch, JJ, and the detective. Gideon was the first to ask how they managed to convince the Chief of Police to give us the case, and Hotch admitted to us that McGee had gone over their heads with this and come straight to us, so they weren’t exactly inclined to give us the case, but JJ found out that a note that was sent to McGee from the Unsub after he had been rewarded for cleaning up the streets was from Kansas City, Missouri, it became a federal case the second it crossed state lines.
“This is Chief Wright,” Hotch introduced us to the police chief who was less than happy to see us in his precinct. “We’re going to be working closely with him. This is still his jurisdiction.” Everyone nodded in agreement. “Do you have somewhere for us to set up?” he asked Wright. The police chief nodded. “Good. We’ll set up in there after we give the profile.”
“The profile?” Wright inquired.
“We’ve been working on it all morning,” Reid answered without thinking.
Hotch eyed Spencer with a stern look that said: “Some things are better unspoken.” Hotch turned back to the police chief with a faux friendly smile to throw Wright off. “We’d like to give it as soon as possible.”
Wright nodded warily, “Right… Sure… Let me gather everyone up.” He headed off.
Hotch moved closer to the team as we huddled up to talk with him. “Reid, I want you and Gideon to give the profile. We’re all going to head out afterwards to talk to the locals, see if they know anything about these disappearances. Maybe one of them can identify our Unsub or tell us where to find him. It’ll be dark by the time we get out there, so we’ll all team up. JJ, you’ll go with McGee, I’ll go with Wright, Gideon with Reid, Morgan, Emily, and Y/N will go together. Sound good?”
Everyone nodded again as the entire precinct started to gather up for our profile. We faced them as they got situated in their seats. Gideon and Reid stepped forward and began to tell every detail of the profile that they had told me on the flight. None of the department seemed to have any questions or comments of any use afterwards, so they were dismissed. Wright and McGee came over to ask if the plan was still to go downtown and question people on the streets, and Hotch nodded. Those who lived on the streets were our most likely witnesses, even if they didn’t realize it.
Hotch told everyone to change into warm clothes for the night and gear up. After the team split off, Hotch grabbed my hand and led me towards the break room in the back of the precinct.
“Hey, how did it go with Haley? I know that you were a little worried.”
I smacked his arm playfully. He knew I was worried this whole time and he was acting like it wasn’t a big deal, and it made me feel stupid about it. “It went fine,” I admitted. “Jack’s mad at us because he wanted to spend the night at our house and he wanted to get ice cream with me, but I tried to tell him that there was nothing we could do.”
“We’ll make it up to him when we get back.”
“That’s what I said, but he kept pouting.” I smiled, “He crossed his arms and frowned like you always do. It was cute.”
“I don’t frown.”
“Yes, you do. All the time,” I laughed. “It’s okay, though, ‘cause I get to see you smile everyday, and that's a good enough reason for me to stick around.”
He raised a brow and smirked as he decided to play along, “Was that in question?”
I shook my head, “No. I’d never do that to Jack.”
Hotch finally let out a chuckle. “I see how it is.” I smiled up at him playfully. “You’ll stay with Morgan and Emily tonight, right? No wandering off on your own?”
“I’m not a baby, Hotch. I’ll be fine.”
He squinted, “You have a bad habit of doing things your way. I don’t need this Unsub taking you if he sees the chance.”
I patted his chest, “I’ll be good, big guy. Thanks for being worried, though.”
“Hey,” he caught my attention with his earnest tone. “I love you. A lot.”
He raised his brows shortly to make his words more sincere. I believed him. He never had to tell me more than once to make it stick in my head, but he always wanted to tell me. He was obsessed with saying it whenever he could because he was never sure when it would end up being the last time, considering our field of work. It was like how often I felt the urge to return the favor by telling him or telling Jack every chance I could get. I never knew when the last time I would be able to see Jack would be, so I had to make every second count.
When everyone was ready and waiting for us outside of the break room, I managed to steal a moment to kiss him and tell him that I love him, too, before we headed out. Each pair, or in my case, group, took their own car since we were all starting on separate sides of downtown and we were going to work our way towards the middle, where we would all meet up to review what we had learned.
Morgan, Emily, and I started on the South side of downtown. where there were more homeless camps than stragglers and prostitutes. We found a few communities building shelters under bridges and outside of abandoned builds, and we asked each and every person we came across if they recognized our Unsub’s profile or if they had seen anything suspicious at all. While they all insisted that there was nothing out of the ordinary, the worrisome part was that they all said that they hadn’t heard about any disappearances. They knew of people who had moved away, but not gone missing. Those of them who told us that they knew of people who moved away were given a list of names by Emily to see if they could identify any of the victims, but to no such luck. It was like these victims didn’t even exist between the missing files and the fact that no one in the area knew of them.
While walking North, we came across an injured and alone woman, pushing a cart full of her belongings along in front of her as she limped. We were asking anybody and everybody for their help, this woman was simply no exception. Morgan approached her with a kind smile and she smiled back at him. He had an inviting, homely face that when lit up with a smile, it was contagious to everyone else.
“How are you doing this fine evening, ma’am?” he asked her as she stopped pushing her cart.
“I’m fine,” she answered.
“We’re with the FBI and we’re investigating some disappearances that have been happening in this area. Do you mind if we ask you a few questions?”
“Go for it, handsome.”
Emily and I both smiled at the ground. Morgan was just that kind of guy. He was attractive, smart, funny, and embarrassingly kind. He had this playboy type attitude that he liked to flaunt around a lot, but underneath all of that was a man who just wanted to do right by everyone he ever met. This woman looked so sad and alone, yet she took an immediate liking to Morgan— not in a creepy way, but in a way that reminded me of how a grandmother would treat their grandson; and Morgan was more than willing to oblige this woman by playing along.
“What’s your name darling?”
“Mona.”
“Mona,” he smiled. “I love that name. It suits you. Well, Ms. Mona, have you seen anyone suspicious around here recently? Maybe some unfamiliar, out of place faces?”
Mona shook her head, “There’s unfamiliar faces everywhere on the streets. You see a lot of the same people all the time, but people come and go as their life takes turns going up and down.”
“Have you noticed that anyone you recognized a lot is suddenly gone?”
Mona shook her head again. “Like I said, people come and go as they please. One day they might be under the bridges, the next they’ll be working in some restaurant. Life happens.”
“Alright, well, thank you for your help. Can I maybe take you somewhere? Like a shelter, perhaps?”
Mona scoffed and scrunched up her nose in disgust, “Have you ever seen one of them shelters? I have better luck on the street than in there.”
“Okay, okay,” he pulled his hands out of his coat pockets and threw them up in surrender, “You just be careful out there, Mona. We need more beautiful faces like you out in the world.”
Mona blushed and hid her face in the collar of her shirt. She thanked him for his kind words before pushing her cart off again and continuing on her way through the streets at night. We watched her walk on and I hoped to myself that she would be alright and she wouldn’t end up as one of the next victims. She was a good woman— a kind woman. She didn’t look like she could hurt a fly. We needed more people like her in the world.
Emily chuckled. “You’re a good guy,” she complimented Morgan.
It boosted his ego tenfold and he smiled over at us, his playboy act returning just for show. “Oh, I know.”
“I think you’re just an asshole who has a thing for older women,” I bit back a laugh.
Morgan’s smile brightened at my playful jab. “Says the one dating our boss.”
“Ooh,” Emily sighed, “burn…”
“Is that for me calling you a tool earlier?” I interrogated, walking past to keep heading North.
He nodded, “It sure is.”
Both of them caught up with me and we continued on a few more blocks before we ended up finding Hotch and Wright walking towards us from the North. We regrouped with them as we waited for JJ, McGee, Gideon, and Reid to find us on their paths from the West and East. Morgan asked if Hotch and Wright found anything of use, and they shook their heads. No one had seen anything out of the ordinary and no one even knew that these people were missing. Emily admitted that we had the same luck.
“We saw JJ and McGee about a block back and they said the same thing,” Hotch told us. “It’s just weird. You’d think that if the Unsub were out here, he’d stick out like a sore thumb because of his superiority complex, but all of these people seem… quiet and humble. Most of them even seem extroverted once you start talking with them.”
“And our Unsub is definitely an introvert?” I checked.
Hotch shrugged.
“You were adamant on our guy being an introvert, but being extremely memorable… yet no one seems to have any idea of who we’re talking about,” Wright said with an accusatory tone towards Hotch.
“So, then, riddle me this, Chief Wright, what do you think happened to those sixty-three missing people?”
“I still don’t think anything happened to them, Agent Hotchner. I think that this is all a waste of my time, your time, and the people’s tax dollars.”
“Ah, right. You think that they all just got jobs and houses. Maybe they found rainbows and unicorns as well.”
“Hotch,” I hissed a warning. Their tones and conversation were incredibly rude. It wasn’t going to help anything if they were just going to keep fighting amongst each other.
Emily changed the topic first, “What we should really be asking ourselves here is how did the Unsub get sixty-three or more street smart people off the streets without being seen?”
“It would need to be someone trustworthy, under the radar. He’s here all the time, but not enough for people to know him by name or to know enough about him to think that he’s an unlikable person.”
“Then it’s definitely not someone from the streets,” Morgan added. “Someone who would go undetected by bystanders and the street community alike.” He looked down the road, towards the direction where Mona had started walking off. “Someone like… Captain Wright, does your Social Services Department patrol around at night?”
Wright furrowed his brows and shook his head, “No, they have to be called, and then—”
Morgan jumped onto his toes and started running back towards Mona’s direction. We all turned to see what he was doing while Hotch ran after him. Morgan had spotted Mona at the end of the road, just in front of an alleyway, walking with a man who had driven up in a Social Serves van. The driver was taking Mona’s cart from her calmly and helped her put it into the back of her van. It looked fairly innocent, but with what Wright had just disclosed about Social Services not being out that time of night, we realized that something was wrong. Well started chasing after Morgan and Hotch.
“Mona!” Morgan called out desperately. “Mona, wait! Do not get in that van!” He slowed his pace down as he approached her and the driver of the van. “What are you doing?” he asked curiously, putting a hand on Mona’s shoulder.
“He's gonna drive me to the park,” she answered.
The driver was already getting back in the car and trying to start the engine. Morgan walked over to the window. The rest of us slowed down now as we caught up to them. Morgan leaned against the car, peeking his head in through the window, “Hey, what’s going on, my man?”
“I should go,” the driver said nervously, turning the engine over and it started to rumble.
“Sir, do you have a city employee I.D.?” Hotch asked the driver.
“Look, I really don’t have time for this.”
“Yes, you do. I.D. Now, please,” he demanded with a gruff tone that I knew all too well.
The driver hesitated for a moment, his eyes still on the steering wheel that he had a tight grip on. Morgan kept his hands on the car and his head in the window— a tactic to try to intimidate the man. I looked at the banner on the side of the van, and realized that it was entirely fake. It didn’t look at all real if you knew what the real thing looked like. But to anyone on the streets, like Mona, it probably looked legit. Next thing I knew, the banner was speeding out of my field of view as the driver stepped on the gas. The car sped forward with Morgan still hanging on to make sure that he wouldn’t get away. I called out Morgan’s name as we all ran after the car. The driver was racing down the alleyway towards a dead end, which he soon realized, but with Morgan fighting with him for control of the van, he was unable to stop in time before they collided with the wall.
“Morgan!” I cried his name out again as I grabbed his jacket and pulled him out of the window. He jumped onto his feet and thanked me before yanking the front car door open and pulled the driver out. “Don’t do that ever again,” I scolded Morgan while he pushed the driver up against the side of the van and arrested him.
Morgan recited the driver’s rights as he slapped the handcuffs on him. Hotch called Gideon and JJ to let them know that their groups needed to meet us back at the precinct as soon as possible. The car that Emily, Morgan, and I brought was the closest. Hotch hopped in the car with us and the suspect since he wanted to lead the interrogation when we would arrive at the precinct. I sat up front with Morgan, as usual, while Emily and Hotch sat on either side of the handcuffed suspect.
I watched the suspect through the mirrors on the outside of the cars and the rearview one on the ceiling between Morgan and I. He didn’t look at all like a killer. He looked scared, but not innocent. We had caught him trying to take someone while posing as a city official, so he knew that he was neck deep in trouble, but he wasn’t our Unsub. Earlier, however, the team had mentioned that our Unsub could possibly have a subservient partner who was helping him, and that certainly passed through my mind as a possibility a few times. Hotch was likely going to proceed with the investigation with such an accusation to see if we were right, in turn also proving a point to Chief Wright.
At the station, JJ and McGee were already waiting for us since they had been the closest. Morgan and Emily took the suspect into the interrogation room, meanwhile Hotch, JJ, McGee, and I stayed in the mirror room just outside of it to talk about how we were going to proceed. McGee asked us if we thought that this was our Unsub, but Hotch denied the claim, and as I suspected, he assumed that this man was the subservient Unsub who was helping the dominant by kidnapping the victims. McGee asked what that meant for our investigation— and specifically this interrogation, and we told him that this guy was going to tell us exactly where to find our real Unsub, if he really was who we thought he was. It was entirely possible that this guy was just some other random creep who had been taking people off the streets, but that was a whole other can of worms to open if it got to that point.
“Detective, I want you to go in with me,” Hotch said to McGee.
“Wha— What… Me? Are you sure?”
Hotch nodded as a response to him just as Morgan and Emily came out of the interrogation room. “Morgan, call Garcia and see if we can find anything on this guy.” Morgan took his orders and headed out to go call her. “Y/N, if this guy ends up not responding to the good cop, bad cop routine, be ready to go in.” I nodded. “McGee, when we go in there, let me do all the talking. I’m going to ignore you— I won’t even look at you. I need to show this guy that I share the same alpha, dominant personality as the other Unsub in order to get him to tell us anything.”
“And if that doesn’t work?”
“Y/N’s going to go in. If he doesn’t respond to a male dominant type, then he’s likely scared of the opposite. A woman. It doesn’t matter if they’re stern with him, because their physique and demeanor will throw him off. We’ll worry about one thing at a time, though.”
The door to the room opened up again and Morgan stepped back in. “Garcia couldn’t find much on this guy. His driver’s license is legit, so his name is Steven Foster. But there are no employment records, tax records, no credit cards, no bank accounts, nothing. This guy’s practically a ghost.”
“That’s likely the point,” Hotch added. “The dominant probably told him that the best way to keep both of them safe is to leave no paper trail.”
“Wait,” McGee cut in. “If this guy is so devoted to the other Unsub, then why does he look so scared?”
“He’s the only one who knows what the Unsub is truly capable of,” Emily responded. “He’s the only one alive who can tell us who the Unsub is and what horrible atrocities he has committed. He knows better than anyone what the dominant could do if he found out that he was caught by the police.”
“We can use that to our advantage,” Hotch explained.
The door opened again and Wright, Reid, Gideon, and JJ all walked in. Gideon and Hotch nodded knowingly to each other. Hotch took that as his signal and waved McGee over with him towards the other door that led into the interrogation room. The second Hotch stepped into the room, Steven leapt out of his chair and tried to power pose on Hotch, of all people.
“It’s about damn time!” Steven exclaimed with faux anger that was trying to cover up his anxiety. “What am I doing here, anyways? I didn’t do anything! I mean, what’s the charges? Hm? Do you even have any? What did I even do? Offer to help an old lady get to the park? Is that even illegal? No, I don’t think so!” He chuckled to himself, “I see, you’re going to try to charge me with the collision, even though it was the other cop’s fault! The black guy! You know!”
His incessant yelling wasn’t at all intimidating. In fact, it only showed just how fragile he was and how quick he was to unravel in front of Hotch’s glare and spine-chilling silence. I recognized Steven’s attempts to find a talking point for Hotch to respond to because it was what I would have done if Hotch was like that towards me. Even if everyone else didn’t realize it, this was more than just putting on an alpha personality for show and for the interrogation; this was Hotch’s exact dominant personality. Every time I was in Steven’s shoes, I was practically bouncing off the walls with anxiety because Hotch always got quiet when he slid into his dominant role. He liked to wait and see me squirm and dig myself into holes that I couldn’t climb out of because he would ultimately use those against me later. That was exactly what he was doing with Steven… and I pitied him for what would come next.
“He jumped into my van! He crashed the car, not me! I didn’t do anything! There were witnesses! They’ll testify!”
“Sit. Down,” Hotch commanded sternly.
Steven did as he was told immediately. God, it was so ironic to me that the rest of the team watching had no idea just how common this was for Hotch, but I knew… I knew exactly just how terrified Steven was of possibly crossing Hotch again now. Steven’s obedience also meant that Hotch was going to get through. He didn’t need me to go in, and he didn’t even need McGee there anymore to prove his dominance in the room. Hotch had already won and Steven didn’t even know it yet.
“I’ve been standing on the other side of that glass, thinking about what to do with you, Steven,” Hotch said as he sat down across from Steven. A shiver ran down my spine in response to Hotch’s low volume. “And this morning, I decided that I’m going to save your life. You’re going to tell me where my killer is. You’re going to give me an address. And you’re going to tell me how to get inside without raising an alarm. You’re going to draw me a map, if I need one. You will do whatever it takes to help me.” Steven started rocking back and forth as panic set in again. “You’re going to do all of this because he has never been nice to you. He is going to hurt you if we don’t find him and we let you go while he is still out there. He’s going to kill you unless you help us lock him away. Do you understand? He doesn’t care about you. He told you to not get caught by the authorities, and you disobeyed him, which means that there will be severe punishment. You don’t want that, do you, Steven, so don’t give him the satisfaction. Tell me where he is.”
Steven shook his head, “I can’t.”
“You can, and you will.”
“No… You don’t understand… I can’t. My family has always worked for his family. It’s all I know…” He choked back a worried sob. “His father died last year, leaving him everything— the money, the place, the—” he stopped himself short before he could admit more about their operation. “He’s the last one… He’s going to hurt me so bad…”
“Not if you tell us how we can put him away.”
Steven looked down at his fidgeting hands in his lap. He gulped while thinking long and hard about what he was going to do. Like I said, Hotch had already won after he made his first command. It was only a matter of time before Steven would give in. With the truth of Steven’s possible punishment staring him in the face, he had no choice but to help us or go back to his partner and be slaughtered like the other victims likely had been.
“Holcombe,” he whispered. “His name is… Charles… Holcombe…”
Morgan was already on his phone, calling Garcia for information on the name we were given, Emily went to call the SWAT team for back up, JJ went to go handle the press conference that would come shortly after the arrest, but Gideon, Reid, and I all stayed to watch the rest of the interrogation.
“He owns the old meatpacking plant.”
Reid left to go tell Morgan that detail and to find out where the meatpacking plant was located. It was just me and Gideon now.
“He has her there.”
“Who does he have?” Hotch interrogated.
He shook his head again, “I don’t know her name. I picked her up yesterday. The sun’s coming up… If she isn’t dead yet, she will be soon. The kill room is on the third floor in the East wing. You can enter through the first floor, North side door.”
Hotch pushed his chair out and stormed out of the interrogation room with McGee following close behind. Gideon and I left the mirror room just behind them and we headed towards the boardroom where our team had set up shop. Morgan and Reid already had their vests on, and Morgan was just getting off the phone with Garcia when she gave him the address we needed to find Charles Holcombe.
Morgan tossed my vest at me and I started strapping it to my torso. I tied my hair back out of my face as the entire team— Hotch, Gideon, Morgan, Emily, Reid, JJ, me, Wright, and McGee— all headed outside for the black SUVs just out in front of the precinct. All ten of us fit into two separate cars. Hotch drove one with McGee, Wright, and Gideon, Morgan drove the other with me, Emily, Reid, and JJ. We raced down the highway with the lights and sirens on. The meatpacking plant was only about ten minutes away, but with traffic moving out of our way and Morgan speeding over ninety miles per hour, we would make it in half that.
When we arrived at the building, Morgan and Hotch parked the cars on the North side of the building, since that was how Steven told us we would get into the building. The SWAT team pulled up just behind us, jumping out of their truck before it could even come to a full stop. Hotch told them to lead the way towards the third floor in the East wing. He opened the front door for them, using a crowbar in order to pry it open. They all filed into the building with their much larger weapons, compared to ours. As I ran in behind Morgan and Hotch, I nearly tripped when I trampled over a couple of pairs of shoes lined up in the hallway. I raised a brow as I caught my footing. It looked like the shoes were almost leading the way to the door… but there were so many of them… way more than sixty-three pairs… and there were kids sized ones, too… I tried to ignore the thought as I stepped around them and followed the team further into the building. We took a few interesting turns on our route to a staircase which held us to the third floor, and from there, we continued heading East.
When we found traces of blood on the floor, the SWAT team slowed down to approach each corner with caution. On the walls, I started to notice that he had painted labels— or directions, if you will— on each corner to help him keep track of where he was and where he was going, which only made it easier for us to find him, because all we had to do was follow the corners that read “KILL ROOM”. Then, when we heard movement and talking down the hall, the leader of the SWAT team called us all forward so that we could proceed with the negotiations and arrest. Our entire time moved up and waited for Hotch’s signal to run around the corner with our weapons raised. When we did, we saw Holcombe at the end of the hall, wearing a full hazmat suit, turning a stretcher into a nearby room labeled as the “KILL ROOM” with big, red letters, presumably done in blood.
“Charles Holcombe!” Hotch called out, taking careful steps forward. “FBI!”
Holcombe looked up from the girl on the stretcher in front of him to Hotch and the rest of the team who was approaching him with hostility. “No!” he cried when he realized that he had finally been caught. He let go of the stretcher and picked up a large machete knife that had been laying beside the woman. He raised it like he was going to slash it down on her neck.
“Don’t do it!” I warned him, still approaching behind Hotch and Morgan.
“Charles Holcombe, you’re under arrest for the murder of sixty-three people,” McGee quivered as he spoke with courage.
“Just let me do my job!” Holcombe yelled again.
When he started lowering his hand and knife back down towards his next victim, Hotch tried warning him again to not do anything stupid, but he couldn’t take the chance that this guy would kill the woman, so both him and Morgan started firing since they had the cleanest shots. Holcombe fell away from the stretcher, dropping the knife, and landing on his back on the floor.
I pushed past Hotch and Morgan once they were done firing, and I ran over to the woman to make sure that she was alright. Hotch followed me over, Morgan and Reid went to check on Holcombe, and Emily pulled out her phone to call an ambulance. The woman looked up at me with tears in her eyes and blood pulsing out of multiple different wounds around her body. I cooed her quietly as Hotch and I both started working on releasing her hands from the restraints keeping her on the stretcher.
“His face…” she cried.
Hotch thought she said, “My face,” so he responded with, “You’ve got some cuts, but you’re going to be okay.”
She shook her head, “No, his face. I want to see his face. Please.”
Hotch froze for a moment before telling Morgan to pull the mask off of Holcombe’s face for the woman to see. Hotch and I carefully propped her head up as Morgan did as he was told. When Holcombe’s face was revealed, she started laughing hysterically to herself, likely from the shock.
“I won,” she laughed with relief. “I won…”
I eyed Hotch through my eyelashes so as to not make it obvious that we were sharing a worried glance over this woman. He decided to take the initiative to keep talking to her to calm her down. “You’re going to be okay. There’s an ambulance outside. You’re safe. Just try not to move until the EMTs come in.”
She stopped laughing slowly and took in a painful, wheezing breath, “Can you have someone check on my baby, please? I left her with my mom for the night, but I didn’t get home on time… I just want to make sure my baby’s alright…”
“What’s your name?” I asked her. If I had her name, I could call Garcia and get an address for her mother.
“Maggie. Maggie Flores.”
“I’ll find your daughter, Maggie. She’ll meet us at the hospital, okay?”
She nodded and thanked me. I gave Hotch another look before I stepped back, grabbed my phone from my pocket, and dialed Garcia’s number at the office. I asked her to look for a Maggie Flores in Kansas City, and I needed an address for her mother. Garcia was on it faster than the speed of light. She gave me an address and a phone number to call Sarah Flores, Maggie’s mother. I hung up with Garcia and called Mrs. Flores at her home address. She picked up after the second ring as though she had been sitting next to the phone, waiting for her daughter to call. I told her my name and that I was with the FBI, and that we had just found her daughter. I told her that we were going to be taking her to the hospital, but she looked alright besides a few scrapes and bruises. Mrs. Flores, understandably, started crying on the other end of the call. I asked the EMTs running past me which hospital they would be taking her to, and I relayed that information to Mrs. Flores on the phone. She told me that she would grab her granddaughter and they would hurry to meet us there.
When I got off of the phone with Mrs. Flores, the EMTs had already put Maggie on one of their stretchers and they started pushing her towards the exit. Hotch still stood where I left him, the rest of the team gathering up with him. As I approached, I heard Wright apologizing to both McGee and Hotch for not believing them. Without McGee, those sixty-three— or more people— wouldn’t have found justice, and that mother would have been dead. McGee did the right thing by coming to us with the case.
JJ told Hotch that she was going to head back to the station with Gideon and Reid to prep for the press conference which would conclude this case, and then they would start packing up so that we could go home. I started walking backwards, toe to heel, as I headed for the stairs where they were taking Maggie. Hotch asked where I was going, and I told him that I was going to ride with Maggie to the hospital to make sure that she was alright. I spun around on my heel to start walking forward. I called back to him that he could pick me up from the hospital whenever we were ready to head back to Virginia. I knew that he was probably less than pleased with me going off on my own, but like he said himself… I had a tendency of doing things my way.
Maggie thanked me for keeping her company in the ambulance as I sat down on the bench beside her and took her hand. I comforted her and told her that her family would be meeting us at the hospital. She was going to be alright.
When we arrived at the hospital, they took her to a room and locked me out while they made sure that she was okay. I sat just outside of the room, bouncing my knee as I waited for something to happen. A few minutes later, I found that an older woman and a toddler were running towards me. I stood from my seat in the hallway to greet them. Mrs. Flores looked visibly distraught while trying to see into her daughter’s hospital room, while the little girl looked so confused about why she was there. After the nurse came out of the room to tell us about Maggie’s status, Mrs. Flores took her granddaughter into the room and I stayed in the hallway to give them privacy.
I sat back down and continued to bounce my knee. All there was left to do now was wait for Hotch to pick me up when the team was ready to head home. I wasn’t entirely sure why I decided to quickly go with Maggie to the hospital. I think I attributed it towards how she asked us to check on her daughter before she even asked about herself. I wanted to find her daughter for her, and I wanted to see them reunite. I could only hope that if I were to ever be in Maggie’s position, someone would show me the same courtesies… Maybe that was why I went…
Hotch called to tell me that he was waiting in the car outside. I told him that I would be right out, but before I went downstairs, I went back into Maggie’s room to tell her goodbye. She was curled up on her hospital bed with her daughter in her arms, both of them content and half asleep. I whispered to tell her that I needed to return to Virginia, but that I was happy that she was safe. She thanked me again for saving her life and reuniting her with her daughter. All I could do was smile and nod before quietly taking my leave. I didn’t know what else there was to say to her when I didn’t even fully understand it all myself.
In the car, Hotch asked if I was alright. I stared at his cheek for a moment while he kept his focus on the road, then I hummed a “yes” and took one of his hands from the steering wheel and intertwined my fingers with his. My mind was still lost in thought, thinking about how Maggie was holding her daughter close and how I wanted nothing more than to hold Hotch and Jack like that forever. My heart was pounding in my chest, too, and I wasn’t sure if it was left over anxiety from the events at the meatpacking plant, or if it was from Hotch’s electric touch, or the desperation I felt for getting back home to see Jack. We had only been away for a day, but that was a day longer than I wanted in the first place, and I was sure that Hotch felt the same way.
Hotch’s hand untangled itself from mine before he put his palm against my cheek. I tucked into his touch and sighed lightly as he brought me back down to Earth. “We’re going to see him soon,” he reassured me.
He knew that things weren’t okay and that I just wanted to get home to be with him and Jack more than anything else in the world. Jack wasn’t even my own, and yet my heart ached every time I was away from him… It was the oddest feeling. I knew that he wasn’t mine, and I knew that he never would be. I knew that there was always a possibility that Hotch and I wouldn’t be forever, and if that day were to ever come, I would have no right to stick around in Jack’s life. I knew that I would never be his mother even though I so desperately wanted to be. I knew that whatever pain I felt while being away from Jack was nowhere near the pain Hotch felt because they were flesh and blood. Hotch had helped bring that precious kid into this world, and he was the best father anyone could ask for. I had never seen anyone so devoted to their son like Hotch was. Therefore, I knew that despite how much I was hurting, it could never compare, yet Hotch always went the extra mile to comfort me— and maybe that was because it helped to comfort himself, too…
Before we had even gotten on the jet in Kansas City, Hotch called Haley to let her know that we were done with our case and we were flying home. She told Jack while she was still on the phone that he was going to be staying at our house for the next few days, so he needed to go get ready. I could hear him jumping with excitement in the background before running up to his room to grab his school stuff and the toys he wanted to bring to our house. He didn’t have to worry about clothes, toiletries, or anything of the sort because Hotch’s home was still his home, but Jack liked to carry his favorite toys between houses.
Back in Virginia, Hotch and I hurried from the jet to our car before anyone could stop us. Neither of us even thought to go back inside the office for our paperwork. It could wait, but seeing Jack couldn’t. As we pulled up to Haley’s house, we could see Jack peeking through the blinds in the front window to watch for us. When he spotted us, he ran from the window, and before Hotch and I could even get out of the car, Haley was already opening the door and Jack was running out towards us. Haley watched from her door as Jack jumped into Hotch’s arms and hugged his dad’s neck as tightly as he could.
Hotch winged his arms around Jack and squeezed back, “Hey, buddy.”
“Are we going to get ice cream, daddy?”
Hotch chuckled while sending me a glance that said: “This is all your fault, you know?” I smiled back and shrugged. He always liked to tell me that I was the cool one, so I wanted to give him the chance to be the cool dad for once. “Yeah. Just like we promised we would.” Hotch leaned down and set Jack back on his feet, “Go tell your mom goodbye first.” Jack spun around and hurried back to hug his mom. Hotch walked over to where I was standing on the sidewalk and he threw his arm over my shoulders and pulled me close, “You’re paying.”
I let out a chuckle, “Touche.”
He kissed my temple while he was still smiling ear to ear. “I love you.”
“I love him more,” I poked his side and escaped from under his arm. Hotch’s jaw fell agape playfully. I looked at him with wide eyes, “Is it too late to say I’m sorry?”
He nodded, “Oh, yeah.”
Shit.
I bit my lip and winked at him before helping Jack into the car. Hotch watched me with a smile as he got back into the car and turned the radio on for Jack. I asked him as I buckled him in what flavor of ice cream he was going to get, and when he told me “every flavor!”, Hotch laughed from the front seat.
“How about we just start with one flavor?” I asked Jack. He nodded reluctantly. “Attaboy.” I closed his car door and sat up front with Hotch. “Hey, you,” I poked his side again before he could put the car in drive. He looked at me and raised a brow. “I love you.”
He squinted, “I don’t easily forget, Greenaway. You’ll have to try harder than that.” He set the gearshift to drive, looked back at the road, and put his foot on the gas. I stared at him with bright, soft, admiration-filled eyes until I caught his attention again. He rolled his eyes at me and shook his head while smiling, “Stop it.”  I didn’t look away. He sighed.  “I love you, too,” he gave in.
I grinned to myself and sat back in my seat. I realized something in that moment: I was the happiest I had ever been.

That latest Akeshu video of yours has me so intrigued, I dunno why but damn I can't stop thinking about it. The main thing on my mind is what on earth happened in the weeks between that first night of Goro capturing Ren and then the next night shown because wow Ren feels like an entirely different person in those scenes so now all I can think is "What happened? What did Goro do to him? Did Ren fight against him? Did Goro get angry? Did he use sweet words to convince Ren? How did Ren's mind break down like this? How far gone is he? Is he at the point of no return? Is anyone besides the thieves searching for Ren? How is Sojiro reacting? Does he believe that whole 'delinquent boy ran away' theory or does he think it's complete bullshit?" All these questions keep swirling around my head. Sorry for such a long message but seriously, kudos to you for making a video bordering on psychological horror because all these unanswered questions are driving me crazy
Thank you so much! I’m very happy that you enjoyed it, even though it was darker than the others. X333
What happened in the weeks between? There was lots of time for Akechi to persuade Ren to abandon his friends and become his only. He didn’t use violence. There were times when he got frustrated and had mini outbursts (like the first night), but Goro generally tried to win Ren over with calculated sweetness, numbing physical pleasure, and using Ren’s emotions to his advantage. For example, Ren was already falling in love with Goro prior to this. They weren’t in a relationship yet, but they were flirting (like in the texts). Indeed, Ren is shocked that Goro is like this and was willing to go so far to have him. But at the same time, he can’t say that he rejects Goro completely cuz Ren still has feelings for him. Goro recognized this and manipulated it.
How did Ren’s mind break down like this? In the video, Ren makes the decision to <COMPLY> instead of struggle. This is the ill-fated choice. By submitting to Akechi’s will in order to create the perfect chance to escape later, Ren makes himself vulnerable to Akechi’s manipulation. As more time passed, Ren began to wonder, “Am I only pretending to find pleasure in this, or am I actually enjoying it..?” Eventually, he couldn’t tell the difference anymore and just accepted that he wanted Akechi.
How far gone is Ren? In my opinion, at this point, he is too broken to escape on his own. He is only thinking of being with Akechi. Goro knows this too. That is why the room in the final part is different from the first. When Ren was kidnapped, Goro locked him up in the dark room (the first room) with no windows and no means of escape. But in the later scene, we see that Ren is in Goro’s bedroom. There is nothing preventing him from screaming for help or jumping out of the window. Yet, Goro isn’t worried about any of that happening because Ren no longer wants to leave. Basically, now, it is up to the other PTs to save him. However, even if they do manage to rescue him, it will take some time for Ren to fully return to his former self, I think.
Is anyone besides the Thieves searching for Ren? I was actually going to include some talk in the chat about the other side characters, especially Mishima. He is helping Futaba gather intel from the city and web. But adding all of that would’ve made the chat even longer and it was already over 2 mins, so I decided to cut it. ^^; So yes, other characters are helping the PTs search for Ren. The PTs do suspect Akechi the most, especially since he was the last person with Ren before he disappeared, but like Makoto said in the chat, they don’t understand why the authorities haven’t made any moves if Ren has been caught. They don’t realize that Akechi took Ren for personal reasons. Sojiro definitely doesn’t believe the “runaway” explanation. He is helping the PTs as well. Oh! Btw, if the PTs were to successfully find Ren, Morgana would be the key. Although he doesn’t appear in the chat (cuz he’s a cat lol), he has vital information about the relationship between Ren and Akechi. Obviously, since he spent the most time with Ren, he noticed that the two were getting close and Akechi’s interest in Ren was growing. Unfortunately, Mona just hasn’t put two and two together yet.
Thanks again and I hope that answered some of your questions! :D

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seven days had come and gone since Mackenzie turned Cornelius and his manor into ashes. Seven days since they had to run away from the Forest. Seven days waiting for Heidi and Alexander to find them in Paris and tell them if Margo had condemned them to death.
Confined in their hotel for a week now, Mackenzie and Elijah hadn’t left their room, nor talked to anyone who wasn’t a hotel employee or from a delivery service. Shopping online had come handy, especially since all of their things were still in Germany. However, clothes seemed to be unnecessary now that Mackenzie spent her days in a robe, sitting by the window, looking at a grey and cold Paris.
She had thought, quite foolishly she would say, that the worst had gone. That she had been through enough terrible things, and that she would be able to live in peace from now on. But it appeared that her mother hadn’t quite delivered all of her secrets. Was there any good way to find out one’s mother didn’t die of cancer? Or that one’s ancestor had been killing his entire family in order to live longer? Who she thought was her only family left was only interested in her for her youth and powers. Well, he wouldn’t be hurting anyone else from now on. She wondered how many Fays he had killed or was planning to kill. Did his spells die with him? Or were all the remaining Fays in the Forest also going to die like her mother did? There was only one way to tell, and, according to Heidi, it could also save her life.
If one single Fay were spelled it would be proof of Cornelius’ plans and would prove Mackenzie’s innocence. It was up to her godparents to convince the queen that she had acted in self-defense. It would be hard, especially since Mackenzie had burnt all the evidence.
“What are you thinking about?” Elijah asked as he sat next to her by the window, handing her a hot cup of tea. She took it with both hands, welcoming the warmth invading her skin.
“I’m wondering how no one ever figured out how Cornelius managed to stay alive,” she answered with anger in her voice. “He was surrounded by the strongest witches who ever lived.”
“He was very clever. He had centuries to learn how to fool people. Besides, they probably thought he used the same spells they do. Margo has been around for a while too.”
“Heidi said they used magic to stay young. Cornelius was an elemental, he didn’t have magic.”
“Elementals have their own kind of magic, you know that. And he was a Fay, nature was his element. Witches know what herbs to use to slow down the effects of time.”
“And so did he,” she snarled. “But he chose to kill people instead.”
“Herbs wouldn’t have given him his victims’ powers and would’ve been less effective.”
“If he…” she paused.
“What’s wrong?”
She put the mug down on the table stand behind her before she stood up. “They’re here.”
A few seconds after she spoke, someone knocked on the door. Elijah stood up with a tightened heart, hoping whatever Margo had decided wouldn’t have him kill whoever would be coming after them, because no matter what happened now, he would protect Mackenzie until he was dead. And he couldn’t die.
He opened the door and found Alexander and Heidi standing on the other side. The Original had never seen such a serious look on the heretic’s face. Mackenzie appeared behind Elijah, making him step aside to allow their guests to enter.
“Did you just come out of the shower?” Heidi asked as Elijah closed the door behind them.
“No…”
“Then you should dress. It’s not a time to let yourself go,” the witch reprimanded Mackenzie’s lack of self-care.
“What did Margo say?” Elijah interrupted.
“She wasn’t happy,” Alexander replied. “She really liked Cornelius. Our accusations against him embarrassed her.”
“Queens don’t like to be embarrassed,” Heidi added. “She didn’t want to believe it, at first.”
“But?”
“Did you talk to everyone Cornelius could’ve hurt?” Mackenzie asked, afraid another Fay would die because of Cornelius’ evil ambitions.
“His spells died with him, fortunately,” Alexander said. “However, we were in luck.”
“The manor was badly burnt, completely destroyed, in fact. But we managed to salvage most of the basement.”
“Or what was left of it, at least.”
“Is Mackenzie in any danger from Margo?” Elijah asked, tired of all this chit-chat.
Alexander slid a hand in his jacket pocket and took out a letter from it. It bore Margo’s official seal.
“This is an official document banishing you two from the Forest,” he said as he handed it to him. Elijah quickly opened it and started reading it.
“It’s an order to kill!”
“If you ever step foot in the Forest,” Alexander nodded.
“Alex,” the witch reprimanded. “This isn’t funny.”
“I never said it was,” he shrugged as he took out another letter from his jacket.
“This is a royal pardon,” Heidi quickly said, reassuring both Mackenzie and her boyfriend.
“We found powder in the hallway of the castle, where you were taken,” Alexander explained. “It proved your version of events.”
“The powder matched a substance we found in Cornelius’ basement. Among other herbs and potions used to steal someone’s magic or render them unconscious.”
“We also found a few journals and grimoires. Most of them were burnt but we found names of several of his victims.”
“All Fays,” Heidi added. “All thought to have left the Forest at some point. We never knew what Cornelius was doing until last week. Margo…” she paused. “It was hard for her to admit you did a big service to the Forest. She wanted me to thank you for that.”
“She was good friends with Cornelius,” Alexander said. “He was her advisor and she trusted him. She’ll be in an awful mood for a while… Not sure I wanna go back there ‘till the next century,” he chuckled, however he was the only one finding amusement in this.
“So, she’s safe?” Elijah asked, wanting to make sure no one was coming after her.
“Mackenzie’s safe,” Heidi nodded.
“You’re a hero,” Alex informed her. “The entire elemental community of the Forest is very grateful for what you did.”
“I killed two people,” she reminded them. There was nothing to be grateful about.
“You saved countless of Fays from Cornelius,” Heidi told her. “Be proud of that.”
Proud? Mackenzie didn’t feel proud. But as her godmother thanked her on behalf of all Fays, she couldn’t stop thinking about those words Elijah had once told her, months ago: Robert was her first, but he wouldn’t be her last. And neither would Cornelius.
 ***
Alexander and Heidi didn’t stay long in Paris. Despite his reluctance in going back to Germany, Heidi had no wish to be anywhere else than in the Forest. They had left behind them all of Elijah and Mackenzie’s luggage. All his suits and all her gowns. The scrolls, the spell books, the old grimoires...
The return of her clothes didn’t encourage her to put some on, and she spent an entire day in the same robe going through the boxes of books and other elemental related research. She didn’t speak much, and though Elijah wanted to help her, he didn’t know how. He didn’t know what she was looking for, or even if she was looking for anything at all. She obviously needed time. Time to reflect on Cornelius’ actions, and on her own. And he didn’t mind giving that to her, if it could help her, if that was what she needed.
Eventually, one morning, she came out of the bathroom wearing one of the fancy dresses she had found online that first week in Paris. It was a short white dress with a slightly rounded skirt. A pink, almost red, flower pattern was scattered all over it. She was wearing a pair of white sneakers and had pulled her hair up in a high ponytail. That day, Elijah recovered his smile, as did she.
They went on to explore Paris, a city Elijah knew well. He knew where to find all of the city of love’s secrets. The beautiful alleys harboring small yet interesting shops, the not so crowded yet delicious restaurants, the best yet deserted places to sit and rest and enjoy the view.
She didn’t speak much as they explored the capital, but she was in better spirit and Elijah was holding onto the little smiles she spared him here and there. They came, they saw, they conquered, and he felt like he had been talking for days on end without getting any answers from her, but he knew she was listening to his every word, trying to remember all of it, her eyes speaking for her, showing her fascination in the vampire’s knowledge.
It was the Louvre that fascinated her the most. Devouring every piece of art with her gorgeous sparkling brown eyes. It seemed Elijah had at least one thing to say about all of them. It was her favorite place in all of Paris, and they had come back every day for almost a week just to make sure they saw everything. At some point, they managed to make their way to the Mona Lisa, La Joconde, after waiting in line for almost an hour just to be able to catch a glimpse of it.
“I don’t get it,” she said, speaking her first words of the day, “it’s not even one of the best works in here.”
Elijah chuckled quietly. “You think it’s overrated?”
“It’s beautiful,” she shrugged. “But I don’t get what all the fuss is about.”
“I think I’ll agree with you on that,” he said, sliding his hand down her arm before intertwining his fingers with hers.
She squeezed his hand as she moved closer to him and they resumed their visit of the museum hand in hand. She absorbed everything he told her, every bit of information, even though she knew it would be impossible for her to remember it all. But she could try to at least learn the most interesting ones. They bought a bunch of pretty yet useless things in almost every gift shop and made a stop at one of the coffees where everything was ten times more expensive than decency demanded. The pastries were good, though, and they wouldn’t ruin the day by complaining.
That night, Mackenzie sat at the window again, her hair dripping wet, the robe absorbing every drop. She stared out the window, looking at the Eiffel Tower glowing in the night. Paris was pretty at night, she had to admit, all those lights made for a beautiful sight.
“You okay?” Elijah asked as he came to sit near her, at the other end of the window bench. He was wearing a casual black shirt and a pair of joggers.
“My feet hurt,” she smiled as she wrinkled her nose.
Elijah laid back on the wall behind him, picking up a pillow from the floor and sliding it between his back and the corner of the window. He took Mackenzie’s left foot and brought it to his knees, then started to massage it.
“We had a long day.”
“Yeah, it’s weird…”
“What’s weird?”
“I don’t feel tired.”
“Ah,” he smiled. “The night is young.”
“Do…” she paused. “Do you feel tired?”
He arched an eyebrow. “I’m a vampire. It takes a lot to wear me down.”
“I know, it’s just…”
“What?”
She sighed. “We’ve been here for almost three weeks now and… you haven’t fed since we left Germany.”
“Don’t worry about me,” he replied quickly. “I’m fine.”
“But…” she didn’t get the chance to finish as he pressed a sensitive part of the sole of her foot which made her breathe out and moan and relax enough to lay back against the wall. “You give me your blood every three days… you’re gonna need to feed at some point.”
“We ran out of blood bags.”
“You don’t need blood bags.”
“I’m fine.”
“I don’t mind…”
“No,” he said, firmly and categorically.
She sighed again as she removed her foot from his knees and sat up.
“Elijah, I really don’t mind.”
“It’s not up for discussion,” he said as he stood up.
She followed him.
“You give me your blood. Why can’t I help you for once?”
“I don’t want your help,” he told her dryly, louder than he intended it to be, making her jump slightly. “I’m sorry,” he whispered as he stepped towards her before taking her face in his hands. “You know what I mean.”
“I know you won’t hurt me.”
“You don’t know that. And neither do I. I’ve never had…,” he paused, “an ultimate’s blood. And judging by the mere smell of it… I know it’s a bad idea.”
“And I know it’s a bad idea for you not to feed.”
He closed his eyes, trying to fight back the temptation, the hunger.
“Elijah,” she whispered. She put her hands over his and moved them away from her face. “I know you’re in pain, I can see it. And I like it as much as you like seeing me suffer. Let me help you. Please.”
“You’re not a blood bag and I don’t want to treat you like one.”
She smiled, then placed her hands on both sides of his face as she tiptoed to rest her forehead against his. He leaned over, his eyes shut as if not seeing her would make it easier to ignore her proposition.
“Let me help you.”
He hesitated for a long moment during which she had started moving her thumbs over his cheeks.
“You’ll push me away if I can’t stop myself.”
“I will,” she nodded.
“You can’t let me hurt you.”
“You won’t.”
“Promise me,” he said as he gently seized her wrists. “Promise me you will stop me.”
“I promise.”
She felt his warm breath on her face as he released her wrists. His lips came crashing onto hers almost immediately, surprising her, but not enough that she didn’t kiss him back. She felt his hand on the back of her thigh and she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. He lifted her up quickly only to lie her down on the bed in the next second. The sudden and rapid movement made her gasp. Elijah started kissing her chin, then her throat, then her shoulder. Her robe was undoing itself; the belt had given up. Her eyes grew big as she felt his lips travel down in areas no one had been before. She was only wearing a silk top and the matching underwear, a gift from Margo, or Heidi, she couldn’t remember, that was too revealing to wear alone, so she always put on the robe to stay decent.
Elijah’s fingers were now on her skin as well and she drew a deep breath when she felt them open up the robe. He found the strap of the pale pink lingerie top and let go of it just to make his fingers slide down her body to her bare stomach. His large hand then found her waist and his thumb started caressing her skin. His lips came back up to her throat, then her chin, just to find her lips again. She placed her left hand on the top of his arm, the one he had on her waist, and slid her other hand in his hair.
He broke the kiss, allowing her to breathe again, just to take her breath away all over again as he said three words she had longed to hear.
“I love you.”
She stared at him in awe. The last ten months came back to her in flashbacks, reminding her of how it had come to this, making her wonder what she had done to deserve him. She loved him too, and she had known it for a while, and all she had hoped for was that he felt the same way. All she had hoped for was that he loved her as much as she loved him. And she wondered if he knew how much she cared for him.
“I love you so much it hurts,” she replied in a whisper and with tears in her eyes.
Her answer seemed to please him as he kissed her again. Hungrily, needily, lovingly. He had understood her perfectly, because he felt the same way. It hurt to love someone that much. Because if either one of them lost the other it would kill them too. They belonged to each other, and they couldn’t survive without one another. They needed each other, like they were a part of them, and they were. They were a part of their heart, their reason to live, their reason to get up in the morning, their reason to smile. She was the reason why he had become immortal. Because he had to live that long to meet her. She made his life worth it. She was worth all the pain and all the hurt. He would do it all over again to be with her. A thousand years of disappointment, betrayal and loneliness, just to be with her. Because she needed him too. Because he was her reason to live, to go on. He was her person, her best friend, her everything. He had saved her, and he would keep saving her. Every minute of every day, she lived it all for him, and thanks to him.
His hand left her waist to go higher, sliding beneath the silk. She gasped as his thumb caressed her nipple, but he didn’t stop, and she didn’t want him to stop. She would give him everything, because she was his, just like he had already given her everything, because he was hers.
 ***
The room was dark, the only source of light coming from the streetlamps and invading the bedroom through the small gaps in the curtains. Mackenzie was sleeping in a black shirt too big for her, Elijah’s bare arms wrapped around her as he had brought her to him. It wasn’t late, wasn’t even midnight yet, when the phone rang. It woke him up first, perhaps because it was his phone. He tried to gently move away from Mackenzie, as to not wake her, but as he sat up, and his feet reached the ground, he heard her move, and she turned on the lamp on the nightstand.
“Who is it?” she asked groggily as she rubbed her eyes.
He didn’t reply as he picked up and gave her an answer as he greeted his sister through the phone.
“Rebekah?”
Mackenzie moved towards him, placing a kiss on his right shoulder blade before wrapping her arms around his bare chest and resting her chin on his shoulder. But she felt something was wrong as his body tensed up and she let go of him and moved to sit beside him. The look on his face confirmed her doubts and she now worried about Rebekah and started to wonder if Elena had once again tried something to hurt Elijah’s family.
“We’ll be on the next flight,” Elijah said in a small voice, one she wasn’t used to hearing.
“What is it? What happened?” she asked, panicked by the look on his face.
“It’s Kol,” he said, his voice cracking. “He’s dead.”

Magnum PI - 2x15 -  Say Hello to Your Past review
MAGNUM IS BACK!
Tumblr media
(Literally my expression when watching the episode!)
Oh Magnum PI, I have missed you. And this episode gave me everything I love most about this show; Miggy banter and working together, a case that made sense (if you like always, decided to ignore how improbable it was), a little tie in with a personal issue with a character and some solid feels at the end. A little less time spent in cars (which is like 90% of this episode) would have made it complete perfection!
I loved Higgins on a horse and her picking Magnum up on it was hilarious. (Ride together, die together - that should have been the name of the episode).
Tumblr media
I feel like their banter was so on point this week (did you just say the O-word? I’ll tell Milo to steal a more unique car next time shall I? play times over) and I just all around love when they’re working as partners and they’re listing and compromising with each other. Sometimes I honestly love that more than the episodes we’re they have a little bit of conflict and then resolve it with a cute moment at the end...I do love that a lot though. I guess I just enjoy them whatever they’re doing.
Also, random side note: hot damn, Perdita Weeks in riding pants. Also damn, I need to go on a diet and learn to do squats so I can look half as good.
Tumblr media
The case this week is pretty much a random and improbable as most of Magnum PI’s cases. I did kind of find it a bit predictable, like is everyone ever accused of killing someone innocent? Maybe on Hawaii, but, like, is there that many murders in Hawaii that the police don't even look around a little when a guy says he’s innocent? How did he end up on Robin’s estate just when Kumu was out walking? Where were the lads? Why would he kidnap her if he was a good guy? Just to have someone drive him, that’s not very nice and also just why do women keep getting murdered (fun fact: almost 80% of murder victims are male).
It’d would have been interesting if the guy actually wasn’t innocent and Gordon was right he was just trying to get some reasonable doubt / buy time. Or if it had been a lady kidnapper? Like IDK, just change it up a little?
At the same time they did subvert the normal happy ending by having Milo die which I actually thought was really well done. I’m also happy my precious baby Juliet got to hug someone even if it wasn’t Magnum!
Yeah... this episode went by so fast but in a good way and I just feel like it hit all it’s beats just right! And the end - both with Kumu and her not-daugther and the bit after (where Magnum have apparently added six miles to the car’s mileage thingie(?) by driving around backwards in a circle) - left me feeling happy and carefree (which is really nice in these dark days).
My favorite scene (other than the end and Magnum and Higgy on a horse) was Gordon laying into Magnum telling him how he thought he’d learned his lesson and stuff. And how out of the two of them maybe Higgins has earned his trust a little but not Magnum...
and we got this face
Tumblr media
But then Higgy is all “actually Magnum wanted to call you” because she know that his friendship with Gordon is a big deal and she can’t stand Magnum having sad puppy dog face...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gordon is like... alright, since Magnum was going to call me I guess I’ll help and Magnum perks right up. Sometimes, honestly, I’m not sure who Magnum wants to date the most out of these two 🤣.
Anways, getting some of Kumu’s past was interesting too and I hope that maybe we’ll get to see more of her husband’s daughter. First I thought it was Melissa O'Neil from this Syfy show Dark Matter (and now the Rookie?) because she looked so familiar. Then I realized it’s MONA from Pretty Little Liars!
Small world!
Tumblr media
But they should do something more with this story line. Maybe one of the women from the family center needing a PI to help with something? Or someone steals the fund raising money or something? That’s be interesting and maybe a bit different! If that doesn't happen I’m writing a fan fic about it!
Overall I just over all enjoyed the heck out of this episode and can’t wait for the undercover episode next week!

October 2020
October 2020 was the best month I’ve had in a while. In fact, I finally lost my virginity this month. October 31 at 11pm. Other things I did was that I
I finished Pretty Little Liars at last! I wrote down my thoughts at the end of each season.
I’ve always known something was up with Cece. I didn’t think she would die though. I was hoping that after A was revealed, she would become a better person and make amends, but that didn’t get implemented. I guess Mona filled the role of the better person. I felt really sad that Mona gave Hanna the scrapbook but she didn’t get invited to her party. She’s still left out, trying to get in.
The 5 year time jump was great. It makes sense for the girls to separate. It was cool to see Veronica Hastings for Senate.
Hanna is getting married, but the kiss with Caleb makes me think she’s going to break off the wedding and they will end up together at the end. Spencer is either going to end up with Toby or Wren. I can’t remember Melissa’s status, although she will end up with Wren or someone I wasn’t paying attention to in Season 6.
Yvonne is a great new addition. I’m sure they’ll try to pin her as A in Season 7.
I’m upset Jenna and Noel Kahn didn’t make an appearance. They were important earlier on, and I really liked to hate those characters. Jenna is the better person. I’m noticing a lot of similarities between her and Sarah Harvey. Both are handicapped because of the girls.
I think Nicole is still alive. Otherwise, she would be MIA, and if a character hasn’t been confirmed dead, there’s a good chance they’re returning in shows like these. In fact, it would be a major plot twist if she was dead at the end of the series. She’s going to come back, put a small dent in Aria and Ezra’s relationship, leave, and they continue their marriage. In fact, A probably kidnapped her in order to bring her back at the most opportune time.
Aria and Emily weren’t interesting this season. Hanna should’ve gotten fat again, since there was a 5 year time jump. It was a big part of who she was in the earlier seasons.
The scene with the moms in the basement was hilarious! I hope to see more of them, but I guess they forgot about that moment.
I watched PLL Season 7 the following week, and that was a terrific (terrible) ending! I loved Alex Drake. And I loved how Mona killed Cece. They didn’t make anything of the mothers, especially Veronica as the new Senate. I knew Hanna was going to break up with Jordan, and I knew Nicole would come back. Yvonne dies, which means she doesn’t get a happy ending. Toby and Yvonne should’ve left the series in Season 6, and maybe come back in the last episode of Season 7.
I’m more intrigued by PLL now more than ever. It was really good and I enjoyed the drama and the guessing. Also, I’m allowed to go through YouTube and watch out for clues between characters to find some instances of foreshadowing.
Two things stuck out to me as extreme this season. Hanna having to cut the appendix of a doll and having the doll bleeding was just unsettling. Also, Emily’s eggs last season came back to Ali, forcing her to have Wren and Emily’s babies. That’s just extreme. I love the sick minds of the writers. Also, the board game they had to play was good. Except it was introduced too late. I would’ve liked it if Mona came up with it and delayed her reveal by a season or two. However, even Mona liked it, which was really funny.
I think Spencer visiting Toby as the first game was supposed to open the door for Alex Drake to enter Toby’s life. It was cool of Alex to sign her texts as AD instead of A, just to change it up a little. Also, it provides a clue on the initials of the new A, since there wasn’t any other way to identify her since she looks exactly like Spencer.
Also, I hate Archer Dunhill. I just do. I’m glad he’s dead.
Now the rest of October has been interesting. My girlfriend and I have grown closer. I think its at a point where there’s no breaking up anymore. We had sex on Halloween after a nice tour looking at pumpkins. My experience was weird, but its an experience we’ll always share together, and no one else can ever change that. I realize that my penis is too small to reach a vagina. Also, she was too tight to the point where I only entered half way before coming. She says she needed to be turned on more. I don’t feel any different losing my virginity. I’m just glad it was with her. I might not have even lost my virginity. But she definitely broke her hymen. I noticed blood on the bed. It wasn’t a lot like I was expecting, but it was still cool to see. I do want to try it again, but not so soon. I’m glad to have it over with now.
Work has gotten stressful. I’m never doing anything to the point where I’m being told to take PTO. I don’t want to waste any of it. I’m using my time to study for my exam.
