What I did within 2 (or maybe 3) weeks of starting TWST:

(First impression and Book 1 edition because I'm still halfway into Book 2 despite starting a month ago cuz I was busy)

Mixed up Kalim's name cause it's close proximity to Jamil, thus ending up as Kamil

Had a hard time figuring out which is Floyd and which is Jade ("Is he the one with the right black streak or the left?"); and even if I know which is which, I was in doubt cause "what if they flipped the frame?"

Disliked Leona due to first impression

Wanted to punch Ace in the face for being an idiot

Also commend him for saying things I want to say (like calling out Trey and Riddle); this was the best for me so far in Book 1:

I will still call Ace an idiot from time to time, but it doesn't erase his moments of spitting facts

Really had the urge to slap Riddle, cause while I now know where he was coming from, acting like he's the only one who's supposed to be right frustrated me so much

Like I want to toss him to therapy

Wanted to strangle his mom though; she's the worst

Sad thing is that some kids irl do have that kind of parents

Firstly, this post isn't aimed at people who don't rly have an opinion about BALTEUS nerf, or is disappointed that it isn't as hard but it won't affect their opinion of the game in general. If you are these people, it's not aimed at you I promise

Possibly petty and unpopular but I'm mid annoyed by people (mostly in social media and comments so maybe I shouldn't pay attention to them anyway 😅) who claim Balteus is super easy now and how Fromsoft "ruined a good game because gaming journalists, now *casuals* wouldn't get filtered out like it was intended, I want immediate rollback, gonna uninstall" and base their claim at them defeating it easily with chapter1 gears and OS tunes off

1. Yeah, you downgraded your AC, but your game knowledge didn't. You played multiple playthrough of ac6, your gameplay knowledge is miles above than at the point where you faced it first, if you want to claim you as a player learnt nothing while playing ~NG++ of ac6 and your muscle memory didn't adapt at all, congrats, your gamer learning ability is abysmal

2. I am pretty sure fromsoft didn't do this because of a few gaming journalists who complain that it's too hard lmao, if they actually give into whatever western fringe reviewers say we'd had easy mode in ER (easy mode is another discourse in video gaming that's its own can of worms esp. in Fromsoft games, I don't want to deride the convo so I won't go into it) Hardcore gamers may be a bit too absorbed in their clique of fellow aficionados, they don't realize that there are a lot of casuals who got stuck at Balteus, or, more importantly, didn't even try to purchase the game because they saw a streamer struggling or heard the general gamer gossips that Balteus is some Great Filter, maybe the gamedevs want more people to try their games?

Because I assure you, for people who didn't play any FS games at all, or maybe just played ER, it'd not be easy. If you think only high skilled players are allowed to enjoy this game...well, I disagree.

Maybe WE want more people to play this game because this game offers a lot more experience than that mindset? This is a mecha genre game that doesn't get such outputs as actions of other fantastical settings.

3. The perceived difficulty level suddenly dropping after Balteus and not really escalating into the realm of filter-like until you reach CEL (because let's face it Sea Spider wasn't as much bemoaned as BALTEUS) suggests that maybe release patch BALTEUS was a bit harder than their intention. Fromsoft producer's tweet about the patch specifically says they intended to modulate the difficulty level in early to mid game.

4. This is a specific gripe to people who act dramatically that less missile barrage means the boss is giganerfed: if you're so ignorant of the boss mechanics to think missiles make Baltie hard how did u even got past it

It was similar when Radahn in ER was nerfed too, lol, Fromsoft in recent years gave us pretty enjoyable games, but the maturity level of some people in the fandom is disappointing even for a video game fandom

funny as fuck idea to me is during the seven month period between aa2 and aa3 when maya was implied to be staying with phoenix the whole time she gets really into horror games as a way of dealing with her trauma because god knows she's not about to have a heart-to-heart with anyone about anything so putting herself into the metaphorical shoes of a video game protagonist that will emerge unscathed from whatever situation the game has placed them in is her way of coping. ESPECIALLY after being kidnapped. anyway. she starts installing the games on the office computer which annoys phoenix to no end because it's not what the computer is FOR, maya, but also he can't figure out how to uninstall them so they're here to stay. the first time maya gets jumpscared she screams loud enough to freak out phoenix (who was in another room) and he comes barreling through the door white as a sheet like WHAT IS IT WHAT'S WRONG WHAT HAPPENED before he realizes she's just playing her game and then gets all grumpy about it and stomps away but then she screams AGAIN and it sets him on edge so he just stops whatever he was doing in the other room and walks back in with the full intention of making fun of her for screaming and he DOES until maya finagles him into playing the game himself and the first time he gets jumpscared he gets so spooked that he launches himself backwards out of the office chair. maya is HOWLING. and then pov you are a potential client walking through the door because no one is at the reception desk but you can hear people in the office beyond that and you go on in because you're an ace attorney universe character and you're weird like that and the lawyer guy and his strangely-dressed assistant are arguing about fnaf. i would turn around and leave

OK I do seem to have accidentally ganked my existing saves in fiddling around with the mods. 😱

I'm gonna go ahead and reset to a (relatively) clean slate here, with four officially supported mods:

Adjustable Party Limit

Better Dyeing (gives infinite dyes and some UI improvements)

All Camp Clothes and Dyes

Cheaters Ring (gives access to some of the AC improvements that I was using the Basket Full of Equipment rings for)

Plus one third-party mod, the Wild Magic D100 mod.

Most of the other third party mods were things I were using for specific screenshot scenarios and I figure I can install/uninstall them as needed rather than gumming up my saves with extra dependencies. Going forward, gonna try to only make saves with mods that I intend to use indefinitely, to keep things a little more clean.

And I'm gonna try to speedy speedy roll back through a new copy of Rakha's playthrough following the path from my liveblog.
