Turning 45

Perhaps more than any other industry, shipping does not tolerate mediocrity. It is a global industry; highly competitive. A firm in Asia faces a nameless hungry adversary anywhere and everywhere around the world. Competition is ever present. Success can be lucrative and disaster swift. Management responsibility is heavy. Only the best prosper.

In the aftermath of Covid & global recession, these statements are even more relevant. Managers have to do more than they have ever had to. Expenses have been slimmed, margins slashed, partners more demanding. In addition, staff have had to take the consequences on the chin with widespread retrenchments, salary increases disappointing and sales reluctant. There is a high premium placed on the ability to motivate and be motivated.

I am proud that I have succeeded in what is a difficult industry. Key to my success, I believe, has been that potential unleashed can meet any challenge. I do not believe in comfort zones.

The skills I have accumulated stand me in good stead wherever I find myself: the ability to think globally, to operate in diverse markets, to network strategically and above all to meet the product and service needs of my clients.

My journey is not yet complete. The best is yet to come in 2023 !!

2023 adds to my number 7.. As i turn 45 ( Total 9) today .. the magic of 9 & 7 will have 97X multiplier in 2023...
