Production Day 6
Production day six took place at my house in Bishop Sutton, here we would be filming Ceara and Ellie together and Ceara on her own. For this shoot we needed a tripod and a one lens camera and another camera. The reason for needing two cameras is that one of them has only one lens and creates amazing close up shots you can also pull focus a lot easier with it. The other camera is for all of the other shot that aren’t pull focus or close ups, as this camera is better at long shots and zooming in and out.
We all drove to my house which is about 7-8 minutes away from school this is ideal so that we can spend as long as possible filming rather than traveling. The first shot we wanted to achieve we got there was Ceara tying up her shoes laces. This was so we could put it at the start of the music video to represent her as getting ready to go out and have fun this fits well as for the rest of the music video is it based outside and around being active. We filmed Ceara sat on the stairs tying up her shoe laces the camera was at a high angle and you could only see her shoes, we filmed her doing this three times as we were confident we had the right shot. We decided Ceara would wear black and white converse as they are the fashion for our target audience and therefore they can form a sense of personal identity from watching our music video, this theory comes from Blumler and Katz, Uses and Gratifications.
The next shot we wanted to achieve was Ceara doing her lipstick in my room. For this shot Ceara had all of her other makeup on and her hair tied back so that we could see her face clearly. We set the mise-en-scene at my dressing table so that it looked realistic that this was a place she would stereotypically do her makeup. We positioned the mirror on an angle so that Ceara could see herself but also so that the camera could see Ceara’s face in the mirror and Cameras face to the side. We filmed the shot several time of Ceara’s putting her lipstick on, to start we focus the camera on Ceara’s face not in the mirror and once she started putting the lipstick on we pulled focus to her in the mirror so the audience attention would be dragged there, this was to give the effect that you were seeing it from her point of view because she is seeing herself in the mirror. After filming this several times, we decided to swap the lipstick to a brighter colour so that it caught the audience’s attention more. We were confident that the pull focus had worked well and we moved onto the next shot.
The next shot we filmed was Ellie and Ceara together, this was to represent them as best friends and to shot they did everything together. In this shot we kept Ceara’s makeup and costume the same as when she was doing her makeup, the only thing we changed was that she put her hair down, this was used to demonstrate that she had been getting ready and he styled her hair down and she was now ready to go out. We changed the mise-en-scene to a different room in the house to create contrast. I filmed Ceara and Ellie from a mid-shot side angle, this shot was to show them taking a selfie together. We had to rearrange the shot and camera a few times to ensure you could see both Ellie and Ceara and the phone they were taking pictures on. We positioned them in front of a large window so that we got lots of natural light making the shot look better. Once we filmed this several time we were happy with the outcome and we were extremely pleased with the lighting. The next shot was going to be a match on action, we were going to film Ceara posting the selfie of them on Instagram. I filmed this from an over the shoulder shot so that represented a point of view.
Overall I think all of these shots worked very well and were filmed well. They represent that protagonists in the way we wanted the audience to see them. We have also achieved a lot of different shot and angle types showing a variety of shots to keep the audience interested, it also shows our experience in working with the camera. After gathering all this footage, I believe we now have enough footage for our music video and more, by filming extra we can ensure that if something’s not quite right we have something to substitute it with.

Time Management
Throughout filming our main task we stuck to schedules in terms of timing in order for us to film efficiently in order to be able to have enough time to edit. Yet what was a struggle with time management was that we had to re-shoot some footage which we found difficult to make time for. As well having to time our re-shoot in order for the light of fay to match the footage we had already used.
Despite that our time management skills were efficient and we met the dead line for our music video to be ready and up on You tube
However when creating my digipak and album advert my time management worked out well as i was able to finish both products in order to meet deadlines. And that was due too the fact i was able to shoot all of my shots whilst filming the music video, therefore i and the shots already there and i was only to edit.

Learning how to use Premier Pro to fit my music video
Over the duration of the 2 year course I have developed a wide set of skills using premier pro, some learnt through school and peer’s others through YouTube tutorials and playing with setting. When it comes to making a professional looking music video is it vital that I know how to use the resources effectively. The process of editing our music video has been long and taken a lot of time and detail. However, I thought I would be good to share some early edits and editing skills that I have learnt throughout this process.
The first piece of challenging editing that we wanted to include was a time-lapse. We thought choosing a busy location and filming for the face tempo at the start of our song would set the tone for the audience. The location we chose to use was Bristol, Cabot Circus this was a perfect location as we could sit up on a higher level and film the people below us. Cabot Circus is also very popular and is busy at any time of the year but we benefited from filming close to Christmas which meant that there were twice as many people around this meant the shot would look more action packed and energetic. We filmed for 20 minutes as we knew that if we wanted to time-lapse it to be fast we would need a lot of footage. Once we filmed it we imported it onto the computer and then into a separate file to our music video. Once it was imported we dragged it down to video one. Using the “Rate Stretch Tool” we were able to drag it out to make it slower or drag it in to make it faster. As shown below.
I learnt how to do this through a YouTube tutorial. This was a good skill to use as it could be applied to many different situations. We played around we the speed of the video to get it to a place that looked fascinating but wasn’t going to fast that you missed a lot. Once we corrected the speed we cropped to video to approximately 3 seconds so it would fit at the start of our music video. This proved to use that if we wanted to do another time lapse we would again need to gather a lot of footage.
The next piece of editing that I had to learn how to do was cropping and adjusting the width and length of a video file. As you can see in the picture below on the left hand side Ceara is stood in front of the wall and the mise-en-scene is simplistic and all different tones of grey however, we wanted to get rid of the ground so it is more aesthetically pleasing and looks more presentable. To enlarge an image so that you are cropping out any of the picture that does not fit inside the screen I had to double click on the image and drag out the corners, this was fiddly and tricky to start with as sometimes it would be hard to judge how much would be cut off but after playing around for a while we got the finish result which is the picture on the right hard side. We are very happy with the outcome as it looks better and the colours now all complement each other.
After learning the skills using the rate stretch tool I could now make videos slow motion as well as speeding them up. On two separate occasions during the song the music slows down and makes the audience feel light hearted. We decided in these parts we want some slow motion and clips that would emphasise the theme of friendship and energy. When looking back at our footage two parts really stood out to use that would suit this part. The first one was the footage of Ellie on Ceara’s back laughing this struck us as a strong representation of friendship. So we decided this would go at a slow part in the song. The clip was roughly 20-40 seconds long all together so when we slowed it down it made it even longer, this is when we had to choose the exact part that showed them laughing and having fun that the audience would feel lovingly towards the shot. The clip was slowed down and cut to approximately 5 seconds. We are very happy with how this shot turned out and how it represents the friends.
Using the same technique, we rate stretched the footage of the boy skateboarding in the bear pit to slow motion, we did this so the audience could focus on the tricks he was doing and how he was doing them, the colourful background also demonstrates the enjoyment that we want the audience to feel when watching our music video. The rate stretch tool has been very effective and helpful when it came to editing our music video, it is something different that just watching a m=normal clip and it was exciting the audience. It is a great skill to learn as it can be used in many ways it can be used to speed clips up or slow them down for dramatic effect, or in some cases you want the clip the look normal but it is a little bit too long so you speed it up so it still looks realistic but now fits the time frame you want it to. An example of when we have done this in editing is when Ceara is putting her lipstick on, we wanted to use the whole clip but it was too long for the gap we wanted it to fit in so we used the rate stretch tool to make it faster but appear to the audience that it hasn’t been edited.
The next part of editing that I learnt to create an interesting effect was how to reverse a video. At a part in the song the lyrics stutters and sings “H-h-h-hold tight, rollercoaster, here we go” for this part of the song we wanted some action that would mimic the way she is singing it, because of the mention of a roller-coaster we though the best part to go here would be Ceara swinging on the swings as it is the closest representation. However, to get a similar effect to the way she is singing it we wanted to play a part of the clip then reverse a section and then play the normal clip again.
To do this I copied the clip I was going to use and cropped the part I wanted to repeat, I then placed them in the correct places all lining up with each other. To reverse the clip I simple left clicked on the file and it brought me to a selection screen, I then selected speed and duration and it gave me a editing box as shown below, to reverse the clip all I had to do was select reverse speed. Premier Pro then did the rest. The clip was instantly reversed and the clips all flowed together nicely and in time with the music so that as she stuttered the reverse clip played.

Final Production Day and Re-Shoot
The last footage that we needed to film was at Chew Valley Lakes, this was going to again represent Ceara and Ellie’s friendship. We also wanted to incorporate more camera movement in our music video and seen this as the perfect opportunity. For this shot we needed a tripod, camera and a car. The shot we wanted to film was simple it would just be Ellie and Ceara walking towards the camera chatting and laughing we wanted to do a zoom out from them. For the start of the shot we would be close to them and could see their facial expressions but as the shot went on we would move away slowly and then gradually get faster and faster. Ceara and Ellie were both wearing trainers, jeans and puffer coats which are al on current trend and appeal to the target audience. To capture the shot, I sat in the boot of a car with the tripod and camera in front of mem, Chloe then drove the car as Ceara and Ellie walked towards it, Chloe then started to drive away slowly and then faster so we got the effect of a zoom out. After filming this several times and wasting petrol we had achieve the shot we wanted to and were happy to move on.
In the same day we wanted to re-shoot one piece of footage that when we put on the computer decided we could film it better. The shot we wanted to re-shoot was the crabbing of Ceara’s feet riding the bike. When we first filmed this shot we weren’t happy with how it came out as Ceara’s feet weren’t in the shot for long enough, as explained in a previous blog post this was due to the slider being broken. We once again went to my house to get the bike and the bright pink shoes so we could match the shot pretty much exactly the same. For this shot we needed a slider and a camera. We re-shot this and were happy with the new outcome.
Overall I think all of my production days have been successful, we have gathered a lot of footage of the period of time and we now believe we have enough to create our final music video.

Production Day 5
Our fifth production day took place in the school. The equipment we needed was a tripod and a camera which once again be borrowed from school. On this day we were going to film a boy in year 12 dancing as he is a part of a dance group and teaches break dancing. We thought this would fit our genre of song very well, it would also tie in with the theme of being energetic and active. The dancing is also something that the audience would find interesting and it would draw them in to watch more of the music video. Lenny the dancer danced in front of a plain wooden style background that made the final footage look simplistic and effective. He then wore jeans a shirt, jumper and jacket as well as a blue hat all of the colours complemented each other and stood out against the background. He also had headphones one which made him look trendy and represented him as someone who was really into music, by showing someone in the music video listening to music it would make the audience more intrigued, the audience would also expect that the music he is listening to is the song that we are making the music video for. We did this in the hope that the audience would want to listen to more of the songs and go onto look at more of Jess Glynne songs as Lenny is represented to be loving it and therefore the audience will aspire to be like him because he is shown as a strong individual in the video.
When we came to filming Lenny dancing we wanted to achieve two different shot types, the first we set out the achieve was a straight angle mid shot, this was to show all of his dance moves. We also had to keep the background the same, because of how narrow the backdrop was we couldn’t move too far away without capturing the side of the building or the sky in the shot, because of this we couldn’t film Lenny Dancing head to toe instead we could get his head to knee. We were still very happy with this. The next shot we wanted to get was filming Lenny from a low angle, we wanted the camera pointing up at him to make him look dominant and powerful to the audience. For both of these shots we filmed Lenny dancing to about 3 songs doing different dance moves each time this was to ensure we could choose the exact moves that would fit with the pace to our song.
Over all I believe this production day went very well, by filming in school we were able to take more time setting up and getting things right as we didn’t need to waste time traveling, if anything had gone wrong with the camera or tripod it would have been very easy to fix as our media class room was less than 100m away, this made this shot very time effective. I also think the shots we achieved will fit very well with our song, the background is also simplistic and a lot like the one where Ceara is singing in front of the wall this shows consistency throughout the music video. Lenny was also a very good dancer which makes the dancing look professional.

Digipak Magazine Advert
above shows a rough sketch of what I hope my digipak magazine advert will look like. Although this is only planning and the final result may be slightly different. Again I have researched many digipak magazine adverts to learn the codes and conventions and to see what works well.
The picture that I hope to us for the advert will be one of the artist facing side on facing the right, this way the audience will be drawn to the information along the side. The picture will be very similar to the one used on the digipak front cover to show consistency and so the audience can recognise the two and associate them together. The artist will be dressed fashionable so the audience can aspire to be like her. The name of the album and the name of the artist will be at the top of the page and positioned to the right so that it can be easy to read, the colours and fonts used will be consistent with the digipak ones.
Down the right hand side in the empty space there will be key information used to promote the album such as the number of stars given to the album and who by as well as a quick statement that identifies the success of the album. This information will be in a different font to show that it isn't representing the album or brand. In the bottom right hand corner the front cover of the album will be positioned along with “OUT NOW” situated somewhere around it, this is so the audience see the advert and the digipak so they know which one to buy.
In the bottom left hand corner the record labels logo will be positioned as well as some information about the artist and album such as the website in where to find it.

Digipak Draft
Before creating my digipak or taking any photographs I sketched out a rough design on what I want my digipak to look like. I arrived at the design above after researching lots of different digipaks and seeing what worked well and what didn't.
The first image is the front cover, I want my digipak to have the artist on the front cover in centre focus, I will probably take this picture in front of a plain background perhaps one that is featured in the music video. Some where on the front cover there will also be a logo for the artist as you can see in the draft I have placed it in the top left hand corner although when I play around with it on photo shop I might change the positioning. The last feature that I want to include on the front cover is the name of the album, the name will be the same title and as the song we did our music video to “Ain’t got far to go” this is currently positioned over her face however I may move it around to see what works best once the photos have been taken.
The photo below that shows the inside extra panel, back cover and the front cover. The inside extra panel will have a picture of the artist and her friend who is seen regularly throughout the music video, this picture will have no text or images on it to keep it simple. The back cover is planned to have a plain picture on it, in the rough draft it says graffiti wall however this might change to a plain wall or the sky. The song titles will be positioned to the left, each song title will be representative of the artist and the music video. The barcode will be positioned in the generic place of the bottom right hand corner. Next to it will be all the fine print about the artist, record label and copy right and above that will be the details of the artist and how to find her online. I have also included an available on iTunes logo as it is seen on the majority of digipaks in the media today.
The photo below shows the inside panels the one in the middle is where the CD will be placed. For these three panels I am planning to use one landscape picture to go across all there so when it folds out you get the whole picture, I am hoping to take the pictures in the same place as where we filmed some of our music video; the top floor of Cabot circus car park. I also want the artist to be in one of the panels looking into the city. I then plan to put song lyrics in the blank space of the sky, I will probably use the lyrics from “Ain't got far to go”.

Production Day 4
Our fourth production day was going to take place in the centre of Bristol in castle park, however when we got into town we had a change of heart and decided that we would all prefer to film in the bear pit and in the Cabot circus so that there was a relationship between the time-lapse at the start of the video and throughout the rest of the video. The bear pit was also colourful and there is always people doing activities there that we thought we could take advantage of. Cabot circus would also be busy and there would be lots of people around representing the video as energetic and fun. Cabot circus is also well lit with artificial lighting this way we wouldn’t have to depend on the weather for good lighting. For filming on this day the equipment that we needed was a camera, tripod and a shoulder mount
The first shots we wanted to shot were of Ceara and Ellie in front of a graffiti wall, this was in the tunnels of the Bear Pit. The graffiti on the wall was filled with colour as well as interesting designs. The tunnels were also lit with a uv light and other artificial light making all the colours really stand out creating a beautiful shot. The first shot was Ceara stood on her own in front of the wall looking at the camera and then looking away as well as pulling lots of different facial expressions. We did the same shot in a mid-shot and a long shot to create a bit of diversity. Ceara wore simple but effective makeup as well as a leather jacket that is fashionable representing her as a trend artist who the audience will aspire to be like.
The next shot was going to be of Ellie in the same location however we swapped sides so that the mise-en-scene was the same but the colours were slightly different, Ceara had a purple background and Ellie had a yellow one. We wanted to create the same effect as the previous shot so we filmed her in a mid-shot and a long shot standing in front of the camera and looking at the camera and looking to the side, although this time we got her to look to the opposite side to Ceara so that when we edit the shots together we could frame it so they are looking at each other. Ellie again pulled a variety of facial expressions showing she was happy.
Once these shots were completed and filmed a couple of times we moved onto the next one, this is when Ceara and Ellie are stood in front of the graffiti wall together chatting and laughing representing them as really good friends and being happy. We filmed them in the same location but again in a slightly different place than where they had both been filmed individually this was to give the impression that they had met up. We filmed them chatting and laughing from a mid-shot and a long shot. To get a variety of footage we also filmed them both walking into shot and meeting each other as well as walking out of shot in different directions. When we were happy that we gathered enough footage that we could edit together to tell a story we moved onto filming the match on action shot.
The match on action shot that we wanted to create was the girls walking through the tunnel together, the first shot was them walking out from behind the corner and walking straight past the camera, we had to adjust this a couple of times so that the framing of both them was correct the whole way through the shot from when they were far away to when they got closer. Once we had corrected the exact path they needed to walk we marked it on the ground with 2 bags that weren’t visible in the shot. This was going to be the first shot of match on action. For the second shot I panned the camera round and kept the tripod in the same place so there would be no continuity errors. The girls then walked the exact same path again but this time walked further so they walked in and out of shot. Once we were happy with the footage we had collected we moved on to capturing the next shot, to do this we walked into the centre of the bear pit and was just going to film people walking around.
Once we had set the camera up in the centre of the bear pit we seen some boys skate boarding and doing so tricks we thought this would be a good shot to film if they would let us. Ellie politely asked the two boys if we could film them for our media and they said it was okay. We filmed them for roughly 15minutes to ensure we had enough footage. The boys were skating and jumping over a bench we filmed them doing this in several different ways. The first way was we kept the camera still and let them skate in and out of the shot. The next shot type was to track the boys as they were doing the trick. We filmed them in this ways lots of times. The next shot type we did was when they were skating towards us we would start of zoomed in when they were far away and the closer they got we would zoom out. Overall I think we capture some really good shots however there was only a couple that we could use because they didn’t land every shot and occasionally they fell off. I think this was a great opportunity for us and we were all very happy they let us film them as we can represent them in our music video as trendy and energetic it will also tie in with the theme of being active.
After finishing filming in the Bear Pit we headed into Cabot Circus where we would do some more filming of Ceara and Ellie to represent them as best friends in the music video. The first shot we did in Cabot was going up the escalator, Ceara and Ellie stood at the bottom and waited to come up and I stood at the top with the camera on the shoulder mount ready to go down. I filmed Ceara and Ellie as they were approaching me and then once they had gone past I panned around and filmed them as they moved out of shot. We did this 6 or 7 times to ensure we go the right shot. After getting a lot of strange looks for going up and down we had finally captured the shot perfectly and were happy to move onto the next.
The next shot was Ellie and Ceara just walking around Cabot Circus, I did this in several different ways, I filmed from behind, the front and both sides to get a variety of shots, I did each one for about 5 minutes so that we could cherry pick the exact shot we wanted. The last shot we then wanted to achieve was Ceara and Ellie walking past me while I was stood on a bridge, the fact that I was on a bridge allowed me to get a steady shot that you could see them both very clearly, as they walked around the eventually walked onto the bridge and I panned around and then started tracking them.
Overall I think this production day went extremely well, although we didn’t do everything as we planned such as filming in castle park I believe we got even better shots. The shots that we have captured allow us to represent Ceara and Ellie as really good friends in editing and it also represents them as fun and loving people that the audience can aspire to be like. I think the skateboarding is one of the best shots we have captured from this day and will look great when we could to edit it, there is already some ideas of putting it in slow motion.

Production Day 3
Our third production day took place on the top floor of Cabot Circus car park, luckily for us it was a bright and dry day which meant we had lots of beautiful natural light. We left school and headed into town once we had gathered all the equipment. For this shot we needed a tripod and shoulder mount. As there were several shots we wanted to capture this ranged from Ceara singing on her own, Ceara and Ellie singing in front of a car, Ceara and Ellie driving in a car and Ellie and Ceara having fun. The aim of this shot was to represent the girls as really good friends and to make the audience feel happy.
The first shots we set achieve was Ceara and Ellie singing and dancing in front of the car, we positioned the car in a place so that the mise-en-scene behind it was very visually pleasing and well lit. As we were in the centre of Bristol there was lots of high rise building creating lots of different levels. Again we used contrasting colours to complement each other and make each aspect of the shot stand out. As the background was mainly grey we used a dark grey/purple colour car to make it stand out. Ceara’s costumer then consisted of blue jeans a black top and a black and red run coat as well as some bright red lipstick to bring the colour together. As the car didn’t have an aux lead the song had to be played through a phone which was put in Ceara’s pocket. We filmed Ceara and Ellie in several different angles including low angle, close up, mid shot and wide shot, by collecting all this footage it would ensure we had plenty to edit with. These shots were filmed well and overall I am happy with them.
The next shot we wanted to film was a dance routine in front of the car this was to create intertextuality from Grease the film. The dance they were going to preform was made up several days before we actually got to production day this is so they knew what they were doing and it didn’t look unrehearsed and stupid. Before filming the girls quickly went over it again. We filmed the shot of them dancing as a wide shot in front of the car with the same background as the one before. Ellie’s outfit also completed Ceara’s as Ellie was wearing a gold shinny top with a black and red check shirt around her waist, this kept the colour theme the same throughout the shot. This makes it look more professional and shows we have put thought into our mise-en-scene. After filming the girls doing the 1.30minute routine several times we decided we had enough footage to work with. We filmed the shot more than once to ensure that if there was a bit that went slightly wrong we would have a backup.
Following on from this we wanted to film Ceara singing with the high rise building in the background. For this shot we decided to move to a slightly different area of the car park so that we got a similar background but not the exact same. Again Ceara had to play the song from her phone in her pocket. We filmed Ceara singing from two different angles to make it more interesting for the audience, the first one we did was a straight on mid shot, this is just a standard shot of Ceara singing. The next shot we filmed was Ceara singing from a side angle we chose to do this shot because as explained in production day 1 blog post we were unable to film this shot type, but we still wanted to include it. From this shot I believe what we filmed was very good and will be effective when it comes to editing however we came across a technically difficulty when using Ceara’s phone to play the song, her phone wouldn’t allow her to play the song after 1 minute 30 seconds and therefore we have no footage of her singing in this location after that time.
The final shots we wanted to achieve were shots that represented Ceara and Ellie’s friendship to make this effective and to make the audience feel happy we had to make sure the girls looked like they were having fun; we did this in several different ways. The first shot we filmed was Ellie on Ceara’s back giving her a piggy back and spinning in a circle. I then used the shoulder mount to run around the opposite way to them so that I could film their faces and facial expressions. This shot was easy to film and easy to represent the girls having fun as the idea itself was fun and exciting, because of this they were constantly laughing and we got the shot easily and quickly. The next shot we did of the girls having fun was them walking towards the camera as I walked backwards, they were laughing and chatting and looking like they were enjoying themselves.
Overall I think this production day went extremely well, we captured a lot of footage that we can edit at a later date and use it to create ideologies and represent the actors how we want them to appear to the audience. The mise-en-scene I think is one of the really strong parts about the footage from this day and bar the minor setback with Ceara’s phone we achieved all the shots we wanted and more.

Production Day 2
Our second production day took place in Bishop Sutton again. This time we took different equipment to capture different kinds of shots. We took a camera, tripod, shoulder mount and a slider. This was out first time using the new equipment. On this day we filmed Ceara riding a bike and swinging on the swings, these were both small clips that didn’t need a lot of time so we thought it would be best to film them at the same time to make the most of our time. These shot also didn’t involve Ceara singing so we had flexibility with how long we could film each shot for and the timing didn’t have to tie in with the song.
We started at Bishop Sutton Village Hall where the swings were. As it was in autumn and there were lots of leafs around and on the ground we thought we should match the costume to the environment. We dressed Ceara in natural tones, Ceara wore blue jeans with a beige/tan jumper with a beige big coat and some boots, to accessorise we put a big brown necklace on, this was to represent Ceara as a trendy so the audience would aspire to be like her. The first shot we tries to achieve was a still mid shot from a side angle on Ceara swinging on the swing. We positioned the shot so that there was bright lightening on Ceara by having the sun on her and behind the camera, this made the shot beautiful and all the colour really vibrant. We filmed Ceara in this angle for a couple of minutes to ensure we had enough footage to edit.
The next shot we wanted to try was a 180-degree tracking shot around Ceara swinging, we filmed this shot a couple of times however when we looked back at the footage you could see my shadow in the shot because of where the sun was due to this we couldn’t achieve this shot type professionally we also tried it with Ceara facing the other way on the swing so my shadow would be out of shot however the sun was then facing the camera and didn’t give good lighting. After filming these shot a couple of times we decided to move on to our next shot. We then had to go back to my house for a costume change.
The next shot we were going to film would be Ceara riding a bike, at the bottom of the road where I live there are lots of houses that are all painted different colours such as pink, orange, green and yellow we thought this would be a god place to film as it would fit in with the energy and atmosphere of our song. We also needed to choose an outfit for Ceara to wear that would represent her as a fun and energetic person to do this we dressed her in bright pink Adidas trainers and a bright pink floral shirt with blue jeans, the pink would also make her blonde hair stand out.
We chose this outfit so all the colours would complement each other. Then we had to get a bike for Ceara to ride this was easy because we could walk to where we were filming so we could get the bike to the location easily. The first shot we wanted to achieve was Ceara riding into the shot and cycling away from us. We tried this in a number of ways we had Ceara coming from alternate sides and riding the bike in different ways e.g. Going side to side or in a straight line this would also us to have a variety of shots to choose from when editing.
The next technique we used was the slider we wanted to film Ceara feet riding the bike and move the camera as she does. However, when we came to film this shot we discovered there was a problem with the equipment, the screw that attaches the slider and the camera was missing this meant that the camera could not be attached. We still wanted to try and film the shot even though we knew we might have to re shoot when the equipment was fixed. To capture the shot, we rested the camera onto of the slider. Ellie pushed the slider as Ceara rode past on the bike and I pushed the camera down making it as steady as possible and to make sure it wouldn’t fall off. We filmed the shot this way 3 times before the battery ran out. Once the battery had run out we decided to go back to school and look at the footage.
Overall I think this production day went OK but it could have gone better. We weren’t prepared for the sun and shadows that were going to disrupt out first shot however the sun made the shot look professional and well-lit when we used the still mid shot. When it came to filming Ceara on the bike I think the first shots went well, the colour complemented each other and the location was good, however filming Ceara’s feet could have gone better, this was down to the slider being broken, it was very hard to be in time with Ceara riding the bike when we couldn’t push it smoothly. When we got back to school to watch the footage we discovered that we will probably need to re-shoot the feet bit as we want Ceara more in the centre of the shot for a longer period of time.

Production Day 1
This was the first day we all went out to film footage for our music video, the location was Bishop Sutton village hall and this is where we would film Ceara singing in front of the wall. We gathered the equipment from the school and stopped off at my house in Bishop Sutton to choose Ceara’s outfit. We went for a grey toned outfit and subtle makeup. We wanted her outfit to contrast with the wall and her makeup to look natural but good. At the start we had some difficultly with the camera as the lens wouldn’t focus but this was soon resolved after fixing the settings.
To make sure Ceara was singing in time with the music we played it loudly from my car which was just out of shot, this meant that Ceara could sing along, we also made sure that we played the exact same audio file as the one we would insert in Premier Pro this was to make sure that the lip syncing and audio would match up. On this production day we wanted to capture a variety of shots so we had lots of footage to edit. The first shot we filmed was the long shot we positioned the camera far enough back so that you could see Ceara’s feet and above her head. We filmed this shot twice because for a couple of seconds during the first time Ceara forgot some of the lyrics. The next shot type we filmed was a close up this was to focus just on Ceara’s facial features to meet the demand of the record label. We also filmed a mid-shot this way we can cut between different shots in the same location. The last shot we had the chance to film was a low angle, to do this we put the camera in the boot of my car and put in on the slider at an angle, this was to get some camera movement in the shots.
Unfortunately both of the camera batteries we brought with us ran out of battery and we couldn’t film the last shot. The last shot we wanted to film was filming Ceara from a side angle at a mid-shot. Because of this we decided that in the next location we were filming Ceara in we would film this shot to get a diverse range of shots.
Overall I believe the 1st production day went really well, we filmed a large percentage of the overall footage that we needed. We can now pick and choose what shots and angles we want to use.
