An Engagement is Announced, Maybe. SamCait fanfic

" So now we wait."

" The reaction is going to be epic." Cait agrees with a sigh.

" I know how much you hate this. Christ, Cait it is killing me. That we want people to wonder, if not outright believe, that you are engaged to Tony!"

" Oh how I understand that Sam. Everytime I had to see you with MacKenzie, it tore my heart in two. Even though I know why we had to do it. Christ, why we had to do this." Her glance turns to Clarissa, three years old and sleeping soudly clutching her favorite doll in her arms. Her blond hair falls in curles on the pillow. She lays on the twin bed beside the queen size one in her parents motel room. They are in Australia for the New Year.

" Yes, she is so worth everything we had to do. But baby, if I could have made it work, the arrangement with MacKenzie. If I could have got people to believe, then you wouldn't have to be doing this. Wouldn't have to make a fake engagement with Tony."

" Hush dalring. You have done your part. It is my turn. And we are keeping it vague. So we can deny it later. How many times as she changed the heading?"

He scans down his phone and looks up and grins.

" Six times. We are having her change it eight times, right?"

" Right. And then delete it."

He pulls her on to his lap as he continues to scan. She nuzzles against his chest, breathing in the scent of the bathsoap he had just used.

" Are we.going.to keep up with this, hon? Or would you like me to put the phone down?"

She groans and sits up.

" I have missed you Sam. Missed you terribly."

" I have missed you too baby. Can't you tell?" he says with a grin. She can. She sits on his lap and can feel him raising up to meet her.

" Two weeks is to long. Crips Cait, two days is two long."

" Yes, it is. But we didn't do all this not to follow the reaction. We have to know when to release the true engagement picture."

" True. Oh man, purv picked it up."

" Bloody h*ll. But that is what we want. I hate that the one abusing our true fans is the one we have to rely on to spread this stories."

" How are the shippers reacting?"

" Shock, disbelief, and tears. Christ I hate this. The ones who know the real truth are the ones who we have to deceive."

" True, and they aren't the ones who are.even the danger. It is her followers, the 'truth' seekers who are a.danger to our Clarrisa. They are the.reason for this insanity.we have to go through, we have to put our fans through."

" It is so unfair."

" That it is. They are saying to give it another hour. So what do you think Mrs Heughan, do you want to get reacquainted while waiting to drop the picture that gives hope and despair."

" Please lets Mr Heughan."
