Favorite character from Greek mythology + favorite myth from Greek mythology?

That is a really hard question😂 like what's your favorite music THERE ARE SO MANY!!!

I like to obsess over forgotten minor characters like a true nerd (like Epipole, the Greek Mulan, Thersander, Diomedes fellow Epigone) but except for that, I'm basic.

It's Odysseus ok 😂 he has a lot of whump and a happy ending! All I could ask for.

Also Perseus, the non Ovid version in which Medusa was always a monster.

My favorite myth is Pandora, the interpretation in which Hope is one of the evils, or the worst of them, because it forces you to endure all others for no rational reason. Sometimes you gotta cut your losses, not hope it'll get better.

Plus it's so rad that she got created like this super woman, with all the gods gifting her something, and her job was to open a box?? She didn't even need higher cognitive abilities for that, legend.

I can tell you my least favorite may be Herakles, or Theseus, who looked up to him. I cannot avoid interpreting the 'divine madness' as an excuse for a mean temper and being too cuddled by the gods to suffer proper consequences for his actions. He killed his family and in exchange he became The Hero™️. Rip Megara and kids I suppose, fridged for character development.

I'd love to let a Herakles stan change my mind though.

My least favorite myth(s) are the modern retellings twisting the original's meaning and agency to make a cheap fake feminism point or an over-edgy tragedy in which everybody sucks.

I know people think Miller but I mean more Jennifer Saint, super dry narration, no positive character, the pointlessly saddest endings in the canon wtf

mr swansea, how do you cope with being away from your wife n kids for so long? do you get sad a lot because of it?

Oh, I hate havin' to be away from them. But, we needed the cash. I don't want my wife or my kids to have to grow up like I did; and when my old mechanic job went under after a market crash, my old boss referenced me to here; one of the only good places where I'de get a proper pay. A pretty good one at that, assumin' nothin' goes wrong.

But, I do hate bein' away from my family. Every time I'm sent off on one a' these missions, we go to build-a-bear and make each other and the kids stuffed toys. No, I will not be embarrassed to admit I have a stuffed rabbit with my wife's and kids voices in one of those little speaker thingies stuffed into it. Though I did alter the voice box before we recorded, so now there are multiple different sayings it can say! Indo keep it hidden in the case one of the ships shmucks decide to go snooping.

Me and Ethel also write letters to eachother. This trip, she gave me one to open and said not to open it until we're almost home. Love that lady, but she's killin' me here.

i am playing professor layton and the curious village on my ds. very fun!!!

I don't know if i'm very far in because most of the time spent in that game was me being confused and bad at puzzles. it's fun though.

the puzzles can be difficult but very rewarding!! i used to dread them as a kid but now i find them nice and challenging. the math ones are still hard, but if u speak to Flick at the cafe he'll give you chess puzzles which i think were my favorite ^_^

Okay I noticed the only time I get like and reblog if I post Danny Phantom idea. I have a DP post canon au about Tucker.

Post canon (not phantom planet canon here) for some reason that Tucker Foley had to move to another town with a highschool that has a weird rule that every student had to go to a club to get them among other with same interests. Tucker finds most of the clubs is boring compared to Casper high but he finds a club about investigation for things, sure he finds it boring but it is the better option as all clubs about gaming and computers are full. As it turns out the investigation club is as disguised as the true name of the club called supernatural and paranormal investigation services (or SAPIS) and while SAPIS at first don't know what to do with Tucker, they let him join for his technological skill and his unusual experience with ghosts.

SAPIS is a 6 ( now 7 with Tucker as the tech guy) people group that study supernatural stuff as one of them goes out to personality investigate and hunt supernatural (after giving himself a lot of advantage beforehand) and the other stay back to study the item ( slowly) the hunter find.

After a few months Tucker is feeling fine as he talk about his experience with SAPIS to his friends in Amity Park when the hunter carried a strange suitcase that he got after defeating a cult, the suitcase can turn into different kinds of weapon and SAPIS learn that it is called Pandora box ( it is from DMC 4 if you are wondering) and when Tucker hear about the name he's confused that he saw Pandora box and it is different then the suitcase. I want to know what Tucker will do about it.

thinking about how 5x04 birthmarks actually sets up house's childhood as being more fucked up than i think the writers intended.

like okay. to run down: john house is abusive towards his son. house deduces that his dad isn't his biological father when he's 12 and confronts him about it. as a result, his dad proceeds to not speak to him for months besides leaving notes at his bedroom door. house's belief that his dad isn't his biological father is eventually vindicated after john's death and he realizes that his mother didn't like his father much either.

which. jesus christ. can we just take a step back and let that sink in? his mother had an affair and house is the result of that. and his mom just..... lets her husband abuse her son? it doesn't sound like she really stepped in at any point to stop it and the only time we see his parents together she makes excuses for her husband's behavior. and like. house is born in 1959 so yes, it's not like his mother could easily leave her husband and i'm not saying that blythe house is evil bc it is a difficult situation given the time period, but the way the narrative frames her (lack of) action in such a passive way vs acknowledging that she's complicit is... really fucked up tbh! and i'm not saying that a victim of child abuse can't love their parents bc it's really complicated! but it's just such a weird thing to toss out there like a dead fish to fester in the sun and do absolutely nothing else with it.

i really don't know that the writers fully thought through the implications of the back story they set up even tho it ends up explaining why house puts up with a lot of really messed up shit from the people around him.

decided to make a reel of my augmented reality artworks done over the past few months and MAN, it’s.......... suddenly hitting me just how absolutely nuts all of this is

six years ago, virtual reality was still firmly in the realm of science fiction. but now? not only is it real - but it’s possible to have a career working completely inside a virtual world where you have godlike controls over creation. (editing physics, light, gravity - and spawning things into existence on a whim? mind-mindbogglingly, this is somehow just my average workday)

I regularly spend so much time in-headset that it’s started re-wiring my brain; I think of landscapes and buildings as potential canvases for 3D digital artworks, and I sometimes struggle to differentiate virtual objects from reality. (I’ve tried to place real objects on virtual tables, and I instinctively step over/around virtual objects because of how REAL they appear and behave.)

our brains work by building a picture of reality via our sensory input, but what happens when that input is completely virtual? virtual reality is showing us that not only are our brains easily tricked, but that this is already happening even with the technology in its infancy. people using avatars with full-body tracking report ‘phantom sense’ sensations to virtual touch, heat, and cold - and haptic gloves & suits are in development that blur the lines between realities even further.

what will a world look like where we interact with cyperspace as if it was real? where you can meet with anyone, anywhere, in a virtual world you can both touch, hear, and (probably someday) smell or even taste? where job training, 3d design, therapy, education, etc. are all revolutionized by XR in the same way personal computers revolutionized them already?

what does a future look like where we don’t interact with digital media through a screen?

I don’t have the answers, but I think change is encroaching rapidly upon us all - and I think it’s gonna hit us faster than any of us can realize.
