22 July 1944. Douglas A-20G-25-DO Havoc light attack bomber 'Bevo', s/n 43-9432 of the 387th Bombardment Squadron was hit by anti-aircraft gunfire and crashed into the sea during an attack on a Japanese base Kokas, Dutch New Guinea. All aboard were killed.

So I learned today that back in WWII the RAF tested a night-fighting strategy where they would send up an aircraft (a modified A-20 Havoc/Boston) that had a giant spotlight and radar on it with night fighters (Hurricanes) to seek out German bombers. The Boston would locate the bomber(s) and then shine its giant spotlight on them and illuminate the bomber so that the fighters could attack it

It's the ultimate version of "Get his ass"

I know this was to make Riz afraid, but Baron’s line from the nightmare forest reminds me of the Rat Grinders so much. I think the Rat Grinders are exactly what Baron was talking about: they only keep each other around because the other people can do what they need them to do, not because they love them. If Riz were in the Rat Grinders, I think Baron’s quote would have been 1000x more true, Baron would have been right. Because fundamentally the Rat Grinders don’t care about one another, and they don’t understand one another, and they only keep each other around to- and to use Baron’s own words- solve the little mystery. I think this quote from Baron highlights the greatest difference between the Rat Grinders and the Bad Kids: the Bad Kids love each other, not because of detention of the first day and not because they can use one another, but because they care about each other on a deep personal level. The Rat Grinders are so similar to the Bad Kids but without any of that love. Imagine what havoc Baron could wreak on them?
