A Day Off in Metropolis "with Adrien"
Ship(s): Chloe/Tim; Adrien & Chloe; Tim & Kon; Adrien/Kon
Rating: Gen Warning: None Category: F/M; M/M Media Type: Fic Word Count: 2,222 Additional Tags: AU - Scarabella, Day Off, Coffee Shops, Not Necessarily a Coffee Shop AU, Adrien is Adrien Allen, Bio-Dad Barry, Miraculous Holder Chloe, Miraculous Holder Tim, Fluff, Crushes, Kiss, Confessions, Wingman Kon
Summary: Chloe's day off with Adrien ends with him abandoning her to tackle her emotions alone. He is lucky that she was willing to look past him being a jerk in favor of trying to get to know the tired dark-haired man in the booth.
Note: I made this for @babyyouremyangel after this post about Chloe/Tim. I saw a rare pair giving me sad eyes and I could not say no. This is the first of hopefully many more pieces to come for people on Tumblr requesting to see these amazing pairings!
Ao3 Link: A Day Off in Metropolis "with Adrien"
“Adrien, are you being serious right now?” Chloe crosses her arms, staring down the dark-haired man across the shop.
Adrien had invited Chloe out for the day. It had been a while since Chloe had a break from traveling. Taking over a fashion business from your parent’s control was rather busy and exhausting.
It took quite a bit of work, but Chloe and Zoe made up. This is why Chloe could take time to hang out with Tim while Zoe kept an eye on the company for her. Obviously, if there were any emergencies Chloe would drop everything to go back.
Instead of being work busy, she now was given a new job. Helping the poor man that looked as bad as Marinette does when she overworks herself with commissions despite Chloe’s warnings.
“Do you know that guy over there? I feel like he is right up your alley.” Chloe narrows her eyes at him.
“Chloe, it is rude to stare if you are not going to talk to him. Also, I am still looking for someone. He seems nice but not quite my cup of hot chocolate.” Adrien shakes his head.
“You and your hot chocolate. One day I will buy you your own hot cocoa shop. I am sure we can find someone competent enough to make decent chocolate.”
“Chloe, you are avoiding the topic at hand. Come on, let’s go say hi.”
Adrien gently grabs Chloe’s hand, dragging her along. It is not that she did not want to go meet this guy. It was quite the contrary. It is just… after her last attempts at getting into a relationship was so toxic, she did not want to repeat that.
The only relationship positive for her is that Multimouse and her had a mutual falling out after a couple months of dating. They both learned a lot about themselves and helped each other heal. Despite not knowing each other’s identities, they left on good terms.
However, this was different. It was a guy. It took Zoe smacking some sense into her that her love for Adrien was merely platonic and the showiness of needing to be next to him was only a cover up of her denying her true romantic feelings. Utterly ridiculous but right.
Chloe was too caught up in her thoughts of relationships of the past to realize that they made it to the booth of the dark-haired man’s booth. She makes eye contact with him and that’s when it hits her.
‘Oh shit, it is Multimouse all over again.’ she thinks to herself.
“Hey there, my friend and I saw you were over here by yourself and decided to extend a hand of companionship.” Adrien shines a smile as he offers his hand.
Chloe’s face goes red. Did Adrien seriously not realize how he sounded? Of course he did not.
She gets saved a little when another young adult grabs his hand instead. His leather jacket and sunglasses give off the exact vibes that she could not stop the smile appearing on her face as she stared Adrien down. He flusters horribly.
“I think we can certainly use some companionship here. Say, are you Alya’s camera man? Lois talks about work when I visit, and I want to say I have seen your picture before.”
“I- I am Alya’s camera man. The name is Adrien.” The man cuts him off before he can continue.
“An Allen. An alliteration like mine. I’m Konner Kent though I go by Kon. This sleeper here is Tim Drake.”
Kon rolls his eyes with a soft sigh. Tim had fallen asleep after his coffee. He goes to poke the man, but Chloe grabs his hand.
This draws Kon’s attention immediately. Instead of getting mad, he raises an eyebrow. That shifts to surprise as he meets her eyes.
“You are the sister. Zoe has mentioned you quite a bit. I am glad to see you have grown so much as a person. No need to apologize for your reaction. I owe both Tim and Zoe a solid so consider this a two birds with one stone situation.
Come on Adrenaline, let’s leave the two to connect. I can bring you over to my favorite shop. It is like a coffee shop, but it only serves hot chocolate.”
Adrien’s jaw drops. Chloe sends Adrien a wink as she watches him get dragged off. She also says thanks to Kon under her breath. He mouths ‘you are welcome’ as he leaves. She knew he would hear it.
Now, this was the tricky part. Introducing herself to a new person. She could feel the hit of romantic attraction toward him. Except, the thing she wanted was a new friend that no one helped her.
Well, without helping by directly introducing them. It was hard to explain. Yes, she was getting help unintentionally by her sister as well as Tim’s friend, but she was being given the freedom to do the conversation herself. It was nice but also a bit scary.
Chloe gains the confidence to sit down at the booth. It was no use to wake up Tim since it was clear he needed the sleep. She would wait out the sleep no matter how long it took.
She may have underestimated how long it would take. Her and Adrien had gotten there at about 3 in the afternoon. It was now getting to be 7.
She had read through the newspaper twice, done both the sudoku and cryptoquip. Chloe had only gotten up a couple times to use the bathroom and get a drink. It was getting too late to stay any longer.
Chloe gets up, making sure to be quiet. She approaches the shop owner. They let Chloe know that it is quite alright as whenever Tim comes to town, he tends to fall asleep. He was given an honorary key.
“Tim’s not from Metropolis?” Chloe’s curiosity pokes through.
“Not at all. He is one of Bruce Wayne’s kids.”
“The Gotham Billionaire, Bruce Wayne?”
“Yup,” the owner nods along as they leave the shop. Chloe is left to be with the information and Tim.
“Well, this is surprisingly not the first time I have been stuck in a shop. Last time, it was just me and the shuffling of Marinette’s sleep sewing. I still have no idea how she does it.”
Chloe makes herself useful by packing up the couple items that Tim had. A laptop and glasses that had fallen off his face.
“You seem to be quite the researcher. I wonder what you keep an eye on. Billionaire child life can be quite ridiculous.” She mutters to herself.
“Mostly crime,” Tim lets out as he yawns.
Chloe jumps at the voice. It was the first time she had heard him speak in the 4 hours they were in each other’s presence.
“Did Kon make you stay with me? He knows that Vin gave me a key. Wait, I could have sworn there was a guy alongside you.”
“Adrien went off with Kon. Something about work. I had no idea about the key thing, but I willingly stayed to make sure you still had company.”
Tim’s kind smile to her would have been enough of an answer on its own. It did not stop there, and she did not know where the confidence was coming from.
“Would you like to go out for dinner with me? You waited all this time so I should treat you. Unless there is something else you would like to do. The night lights of Metropolis are rather bright but pleasant.”
“Certainly, more welcoming than Gotham’s,” Chloe lets out with an accompanying chuckle.
“You can say that again. I am surprised you seem aware of Gotham’s reputation. Have you been before?”
Tim throws his satchel over his shoulder. He offers his hand to Chloe as he motions to the door. She gladly accepts, walking the two out of the shop.
He did not press her for an answer to his question. It had been more rhetorical even if he did want an answer. Her presence and willingness to hang out with him was more than enough to make up for it.
The two make their way down the streets of Metropolis. Chloe takes in all the sights. It was nice to have a guide familiar with the town while also not being from it. It gave a nice change of pace.
She catches herself looking into Tim’s eyes multiple times throughout their walk. It is not until they make it to the steps of the Kents’ residence that it hits her. She had never answered that question he asked.
“I have never been before,” Tim gives her a slight head tilt. “You asked if I had been to Gotham. The reason I know so much is I have a business meeting there next month. It is with Wayne Enterprises.”
“Oh, I see. That will be quite the experience. I guess I will be seeing you again soon.”
Tim shines Chloe a mischievous smile. She takes a moment to think over his words. It would make sense since he is a Wayne.
He places her crooked finger under her chin, raising it up. She smirks back, knowing exactly what he wanted to do. She wanted to as well. Yet her confidence did not peak through.
“May I kiss you, Honeybee?”
“You knew this entire time, didn’t you, Stallion?”
The two collectively laugh. How they both were able to figure each other out is a match made by the kwami themselves surely. Who would have seen the Bee and Horse meet then fall for each other?
Chloe finds her confidence, leaning up to start the kiss. Tim supports her waist as he reciprocates it. There was no denying their connection now.
A cough from behind them gets apart. Chloe throws her arms cross. Adrien gives Kon a kiss on the cheek before coming down the stairs, dragging Chloe away.
She does not fight her friend’s actions. Chloe simply gives a wave to Tim as she mouths ‘see you next month, Stallion’. Adrien shakes his head in support.
When they get far enough away, Chloe breaks at Adrien. She just had to know.
“How did Tim know about me being Honeybee? That was an entirely different personality than my normal one. He was easy to find out cause his miraculous was just laying on the table ready to be taken. Pollen’s comb is hidden under my ponytail.”
“He’s a more precise version of Marinette’s stalking abilities. You know how she used to have my schedule down to the minute but would occasionally get things wrong if a sudden change happened? Tim would have already known and planned accordingly.”
“That’s mildly concerning. It is a good thing he is not a villain.”
Adrien nods in agreement. There would be no stopping him if he ever became a villain. Though it would be interesting to know how they would have worked out for a relationship if Chloe had never changed. Villain Tim with evil bee Chloe.
‘Huh, that would be quite the universe. I wonder if there is also a universe where Adrien is the Black Cat wielder and Marinette as the Ladybug wielder. Maybe there is one where I get the Black Cat. As if,’ Chloe scoffs at the utterly ridiculous thought.
Meanwhile back with Kon and Tim
“Are you going to admit that guessing her as the Bee wielder was a complete miracle and was just a nickname you pulled out of your ass?”
“Hey! No puns. Allen is rubbing off on you already. I had my suspicions that she was a wielder or at least, temporarily. I was simply taking your advice.”
“That’s where you went wrong. Being flirty right off is not for everyone. You got lucky. Say, you think you are the Ladybug wielder in another universe?”
“Anything is possible Kon. I doubt I would ever get it though. There is already a perfectly good Ladybug user in this universe. Of all the people to make a Ladybug in another world, I would be the last.”
Kon throws his arm around Tim. He looks him straight in the eyes, searching for the wonder in him.
“What if Chloe is the Black Cat in that universe? Would you want to be the Ladybug then?”
“Well what type of question is that Kon? I’m sure you would want to be the Black Cat in a universe where Adrien is the Ladybug. You already know the answer.”
“For the record, I would be your amazing sidekick with the peafowl miraculous. I would rock that fan.”
“Right and Adrien would be the Butterfly user. The villains would have the Fox, Turtle and Bee miraculous and be threatening to take over the world if they don’t get our miraculous.”
“Nah, they would be doing it out of pure evil. Imagine it is our siblings.”
Tim stares directly at Kon. He raises his hands up. He was confident in what he said.
“Can I get the turtle then, please?” Jon says as he appears in the room.
Tim facepalms. Kon’s smirk returns. There were times when he wanted to voyage out of the room. This was one.
“Damian could get the fox and Zoe as the Bee. It’s perfect. What do you think?”
~
Note: I don't know what Chloe, Tim and Kon are talking about with these alternative universes. I mean, who would ever give Adrien a miraculous? Adrien Allen? A miraculous wielder? Pfft sure, that will happen the same time fashion designer MDC is Ladybug.
You know what else is ridiculous to think of existing? Maribat Menagerie a Discord for Rare Pair, Bio-Parent, and Strange AUs.
It is utterly ridiculous to think that anyone would ever create such a thing. Imagine if there was also a @maribat-menagerie tumblr for hyping up all those things.
What's Next? You're going to tell me that the "Ringleader" there writes all of that stuff and will randomly write the ideas that people what to see more of. scoffs As if
(In all seriousness, I do this because I love it all. I have to allow myself a smidge of in character promoting every once in a while, right? Plus, I enjoy seeing others' joy at the ships they like having pieces so hopefully you all enjoy, and I will always take suggestions. <3)

Au Masterlist / Tagging Key
ok so half intro post half au list
My names Ru or Birdie and i make a lot of AU ideas in my silly little head and i lobe having attention so ill draw those ideas and occasionally ill post them on this account.
most of my aus will go off of the Young Justice (Cartoon) season 1 team dynamics simply because thats the first piece of DC content i consumed.
Though i will eventually try to branch more into comic characterizations of characters (kon) and team dynamics (nightwing being closer with titans than yjcartoon team)
#Birdie AU - Talon!Dick Grayson Au
my second au ever made ... honestly its my au that stretches at the bounderies of whats considered an au the most
most bc along with basically deaging to around tims age i deaged the YJcartoon team with him so i could give him some friends
character list:
- Birdie - Dick Grayson
he doesn't remember his past before the court. Hes spent the last several years either cryogenically frozen or being trained or following orders.
he sees Jason as an older brother. But also a younger brother after hes told that he is actually supposed to be older.
He has a lot of identity issues, unsure of who or what he is or how he should present himself.
its a lot of fun for me
endgame relationships
birdie/wally/artemis/zatanna | birdie&artemis | wally&zatanna || Timber || superbat
#TMAAU - The Magnus Archives Au
An AU placing the YJCartoon team into the Magnus Archives
TMA fans might be concerned bc of the canonical character dwath in the podcast but i am avoiding it bc i am a weak baby
character list:
-Jon - Connor
-Sasha - Kaldur
-Tim - Wally
-Martin - M'gann
-Michael - Dick
-Melanie - Tim
-Basira - Zatanna
-Daisy - Artemis
-Elias - Luthor
-Agnes - Bernard
-Gertrude - i wanna make her Slade for silly reasons
#Mermaid Wally AU - The Little Mermaid Au
Basically the plot of the little mermaid but its Birdflash bc im a simple birdflash fan
characters/roles:
Ariel - Wally
Eric - Dick
Grims - Alfred
Flounder - Artemis C
Sebastion - either Garth or Kaldur
Scuttle - either Mgann or Zatanna
Roy and Jason r in more made up roles that parallel scuttle and sebastion trying to help dick and wally get together. Jason is Dick little brother wants everyone to stop talking about when his older brother is going to get married AND he seems to he making Heart Eyes Around Wally so like win win and Roy is usually fine to let Dick do what he wants, best firend things. but descides to help dicks little brother in his antics
(disclaimer this au is Not Jayroy- jasons story mostly focuses on aroace jason hc)
I have no idea who ursula should be its so hard
#PKMN AU - Pokemon Trainer Au
really a simple au that gives me an excuse to imagine them as pkmn trainers and gives my friend excuses to create plmn teams for them
alsp mostly @mbirnsings-71 s au as she makes the teams tbh i might just occasionally draw things from it
#miracu au - Miraculous Ladybug Au
An au where i take dc characters and shove them into the miraculous ladybug universe !!
the character list would make this pinned post too long, so I'll link a miracu au info post in a little bit but ill add
that obvious its birdflash... im so predictable...
Marinette | ladybug - wally | junebug
TBC...
Adrien | Chat Noir - dick | acrocat
#xmen au - X-Men Au
basically so far ive jsut put thr batfam into the xmen school for mutants
mostly just birdflash content, but i am like trying to think of others in the context of the au! it mostly just started as a way for me to destress from doing zine work :)
there are more, but these are the ones I've posted so far, and im unsure if i should add the unposted ones to the list before i post them / make tags for them

Bad Day in Apartment 5A
A continuation of the Pride Goeth Before the Superhero Landing story.
It had been a bad day. There was no sugar coating it, no looking at the bright side, no silver lining. It was a bad day. Start to finish bad. It seemed like nothing could go her way, like the day and everything in it were prejudiced against her. Plagg assured her it wasn’t his doing, but Marinette knew. There was no other explanation for a day this bad than somehow having drawn the ire of the god of bad luck.
She had briefly considered it being retribution by Lex, but there was no way he was able to trace it back to her and Kon. Not to mention, while he was absolutely petty enough to do something like this, he was nowhere near creative enough to come up with something as diabolical as this day had been. Tim? Yes. Kon? Absolutely. But seeing as she hadn’t done anything to deserve retribution like this… not lately anyway.
Which only left Plagg. She bet Adrien didn’t have to deal with this nonsense and when he got back from his romantic weekend with Cassie, she was going to find out what exactly he did to prevent this… or cause this.
She trudged into her apartment, dropping her bag, keys, and coat on the floor, not even bothering to put anything away. With her luck today, if she tried to hang up her coat, she’d end up breaking the hook. What she’d discovered throughout her day was the best approach was to do and say as little as possible to reduce the opportunities for things to go wrong and get blamed for them. It didn’t eliminate them, nothing did. There was no escaping. But it did lessen them.
“Just going to leave them there to trip over, huh?” Plagg asked lazily. “That’s awfully risky, considering your day today, Pigtails.”
Marinette narrowed her eyes at him. “The day you blessed me with,” she hissed.
Plagg floated upright and crossed his arms across his chest. “I didn’t do this, Pigtails.” He floated up with a wicked grin. “Have I enjoyed today? Yes. Have I laughed more than I have since Adrien went through that goth phase? Yes. Will I think back to these days in times of darkness in the future? Also, yes. But, did I cause today? No.”
Tikki groaned but floated up in front of Marinette with a bright smile. “It’s just a bad day, Marinette,” Tikki tried.
“An epically bad day,” Plagg cackled. “Molly Brown didn’t have luck this bad.”
Tikki glared at him and waved him away. “I would know if it was him. I promise it wasn’t.” She floated closer to Marinette to give her a comforting pat on the cheek. “But tomorrow is another day, full of promise.”
Marinette gave her a flat look. “That’s not really comforting. It could be a promise to make Plagg laugh even harder than he did today.”
Tikki fixed her with a pointed look, then quickly softened her gaze. “Tomorrow will be better. You’ll see.” She eyed the pile of objects on the floor suspiciously. “Plagg and I will stay in the box tonight and leave you in peace… but he may have been right about the stuff on the floor. That’s may be tempting fate.”
Marinette groaned but nodded in agreement. Tikki smiled and patted her on the cheek again before kissing her on the forehead. “Good night, Marinette.”
“Night,” Marinette grumbled. “Thank you.”
She waited until they were both gone before bending down to pick up her things, because as much as she hated to admit it, and she did, they were right. If she didn’t move them out of the way, she would probably end up tripping and falling through the drywall and then the super would yell at her too.
She hadn’t even had the chance to lay her hands on her stuff before her front door slammed open, hitting her in her rear and sending her sprawling on top of the pile with a squawk of indignation.
“Pixie!” Jason exclaimed as he rushed through the door to help her. He reached to help her up but the bags he’d brought with him swung from the rapid movement, hitting her repeatedly in the head. “Oh! Shit! Just let me…” He jumped away, throwing his arms out to the side so the bags were as far from her as possible. He waffled in indecision, looking between the kitchen island, where he could set the bags and her… still sprawled out on the floor.
Marinette pushed herself to a seated position and blinked at him a few times as his unexpected presence settled in her mind. “What are you doing here?” It wasn’t meant to come off as accusatory, but it did anyway. She didn’t need him there. She didn’t need him seeing her like this. It was bad enough that she had to endure this day at all, but for Jason to see her falling, sprawling, running into things, collapsing, reeling, and all the other things she’d done today.
Jason brushed off her tone with a bright grin and swept past her to drop his bags on the counter. “Heard you were having a bad day. Thought I might cheer you up.”
“By giving me a concussion?” she grumbled. She rubbed her head as she stood up. “Actually, that might make my day better so feel free to finish.”
Jason scoffed at her. “I’m not here to bring more pain… unless you’re into that kind of thing.” He waggled his eyebrows at her with a charming wink. “I’m here to make you feel better. Just tell me where it hurts. I’ll kiss it and make the pain go away. I’m a doctor, I know these things,” he singsonged.
She sighed deeply. Normally, she would revel in that cheeky interaction, the playful banter they had that just skirted the line of actual flirting, testing the water toward something more substantial. But she just didn’t have it in her today. She was too tired to play games right now. “Just go home, Jason. I’m not in the mood tonight if I was, I’d be moping at Tim’s right now instead of here.”
“And I know that,” he assured her with a cheery intonation that she only usually heard from Jason when he was teasing his brothers, “soooo, I brought your favorite take out and then I was going to see if you wanted to go to a shooting range and work out some frustration.”
Marinette stared at him in shock for a few seconds not having expected that level of attention from Jason. Hell, she didn’t even think he knew her favorite take out, but based on the smells emanating from those bags, he did. “Oh,” she mumbled sheepishly. The idea was appealing. Shooting with Jason was always entertaining and often became demolitions practice as well.
But today was not the day, and honestly, she was just worn too thin to leave her apartment after the day she’d had. “No, thank you. With my luck today a gun would misfire, and I'd accidentally shoot you and then everyone would yell at me for trying to kill you and being so irresponsible.”
Even if he had somehow missed the look in her eyes, the exhaustion lacing her voice as she spoke was unmistakable. Sympathy flashed in Jason’s eyes but was gone in an instant. He shrugged instead with a slightly strained smile. “At least it would be accidental. Most people I know would do it on purpose.” Marinette snorted but didn't disagree with his very accurate assessment. “So, Pixie, what do you want to do instead?”
“Nothing,” she whimpered. “I want to take a warm shower, because I would probably manage to somehow flood my bathroom if I tried to take a bath, then scrounge around for something to eat, before collapsing in bed" probably in tears, she added mentally. "You, however, are going to leave. You know the way.”
Marinette left the room before Jason could respond beyond the surprised rise in his brows and the concerned slant to his lips. He considered leaving, as she requested, but refused to abandon her when she was feeling like she was, not to mention, considering her luck that day, she might turn on her light, causing a short in a wire, starting a fire. Leaving her now would be tantamount to letting her die. Or at least that’s the story he was going to tell her when she yelled at him later.
Instead, he worked on getting some drinks ready and dishing out the food into bowls for the two of them. He just finished dishing out the food when he heard a screech from down the hall. Jason was moving before he registered the action. He burst through the bathroom door, body already in defensive position and gun drawn.
He quickly scanned the room for threats but froze when his eyes landed on Marinette, his cheeks immediately flushing. She was huddled on the floor, shower curtain barely wrapped around her enough to be considered covered. Her hands lay limp on the floor, not bothering to hold the curtain close to preserve her modesty in front of Jason. Her eyes were staring unfocused on the floor in front of her.
He flicked his eyes quickly to the shower to try to deduce the cause of the screech, but the shower looked in perfect working order. The water was even still running. He scrunched his face in confusion. “What happened? Don’t tell me it broke. It looks fine.”
“The hot water ran out or died or redirected, or… just decided to abandon me like all other good thing have today,” she moaned.
Even without looking at her Jason could tell she was on the verge of tears. He could hear it in her voice, the way it fluctuated and almost broke. “Do you need to… were you… Do you want to go back to my apartment and finish your shower? It might be safer than…” he motioned vaguely around them.
“No,” Marinette answered miserably. “I hadn’t started washing my hair yet so I can just…”
Her voice was muffled like she was burying her face in something, but the despondent tone still carried easily. All the fight and passion had faded from her eyes. The fact that she didn’t even have the strength to snark back at him, spoke volumes to Jason. In all the time he’d known Marinette, in all the fights he’d seen her take on, and win, thank you very much, in all the adversity and setbacks, he’d never once seen her this defeated.
Jason nodded resolutely. “Okay.” He grabbed the towel off the counter and wrapped it around her before finally looking her in the eye with a determined smile. “Get your pajamas on, we’ll hide under the fluffiest blanket you have and eat your favorite takeout on the couch while watching your favorite movie, and we won’t care if we spill our food or stain anything. I’ll buy you a new anything that gets damaged. Doctor’s orders.”
She looked at him but clearly wasn’t really seeing him. “Okay,” she agreed after a few beats but didn’t move.
Jason quirked his lips to the side. “Do you need me to pick something out for you and bring it to you? Because it’s not the way I pictured finally being able to see your underwear, but I’ll be happy to do it.”
Marinette’s eyes cleared up and finally met his eyes, surprise and a touch of fondness showing through. She snorted quietly and shook her head as she pulled the towel closer to her and stood up. Jason reached out to help her but pulled back remembering her state of undress. “No, I think I can handle it,” she assured him quietly.
He watched her walk out of the bathroom into her bedroom with a tender look. He wished they were in the kind of relationship where he could follow her into her bedroom and help her get dressed or even lay down with her, holding her close, encasing her in his embrace, protecting her from the world that seemed to have something against her today. But since they didn’t, he settled for what he could do for her.
He’d just set the food and drinks down on the coffee table and queued up The Mummy when Marinette came out. His breath caught at the sight of her. It was just an oversized shirt over some sleep shorts, but it was one of the sexiest things he'd ever seen. It didn't hurt that the shirt was one she’d acquired from him at some point. He wasn’t sure if she took it on purpose or just ended up with it somehow, but either way, he was beyond thrilled to see her in it. Hell, he’d bring her a dozen more just to see her walk around in them.
Marinette offered a weak smile and collapsed on the couch. She stared at the coffee table for a full three minutes before she finally noticed what she was looking at. Her eyes wandered from the takeout, to the wine, to the brownies, to the ice cream… which he really should have left in the freezer, she noted absently, to The Mummy movie still on the television, waiting for them to click play. She slowly raised her quickly dampening eyes to Jason. “Why are you doing all this?”
He gently laid her favorite blanket on her and handed her a bowl as he sat next to her. He hesitantly pushed a wet strand behind her ear, letting his fingers linger along her jaw. “Because you lost your smile. Your smile is one of my favorite things about you. It encapsulates everything that you are. It’s bright and hopeful and winsome and irresistible and beautiful. I’d do anything to bring your smile back. I’d do anything to see you smile more.” He looked at her lovingly. “I'd make amends with Tim and start hanging out with him more.”
“More?” Marinate laughed lightly. “Jason, you're over there all the time. If you were there any more, you’d have to move in.”
Jason gave her a pointed luck. “Since you started hanging out with him,” he said slowly, like explaining something she should have known. “Since you've been over there enough that you have your own room and more clothes there than your own apartment.”
Marinette stared at him vaguely aware that the longer she stared the more her jaw was dropping. Finally, something seemed to click, and her eyes became coy. “Well, you never come to my apartment, but you were always at Tim's. So...”
Jason’s eyes lit up as the meaning of her words became apparent to him, a large grin breaking out. He placed his bowl on the coffee table without breaking eye contact and gently traced his fingers down her hairline and along her jaw, resting it there. “And here I was thinking you hung out there so much because of Kon.”
“Well, I do like hanging out with Kon,” Marinette granted, leaning into Jason’s fingers. “But not that much.” She leaned in conspiratorially. “Do you know how many pranks and nagging I’ve had to deal with?”
Jason laughed, his whole body shaking as he did. “At least he likes you. Do you know how many glares, hissed threats, and body checks I received? He doesn’t even always do it with his actual body. His telekinesis is dangerous.” His smile widened when Marinette chuckled, being very familiar with how annoying his telekinesis could be, but also useful when messing with overbearing, despotic, pretentious, blustering, bald fathers. “I’d deal with worse for you,” he added softly.
Marinette smiled, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth as she did. She rested her hand on his forearm to keep him there while the other gently eased up his other arm and over his shoulder until she ghosted her fingers over his neck, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake, and finally winding them into the hair at the back of his head. Her smile widened when he leaned toward her, his eyes darkened. She leaned closer to meet him halfway but just about jumped away when she heard her spoon hitting the rim of her bowl and felt it tip over.
She quickly moved to grab it, but not fast enough to stop it from spilling. She groaned and dropped her head against the back of the couch in frustration. Jason quickly scooped up the spilled food and set her bowl on the coffee table, taking the blanket in the same motion. He bundled it up and tossed it haphazardly down the hallway. He almost bumped into Marinette when he turned around. “Thank you for tonight, Jason. It really means a lot, but I think I’m just going to go to bed. I’m a menace awake and it’s only a matter of time before I do something to hurt you.”
“You can’t!” Jason insisted, cutting off her path to her bedroom. Marinette raised her eyebrow at him. Jason looked down at his food and back up with a smirk. “Who’s going to eat the food?”
She sighed and moved to step past him, but he blocked her again. “You go ahead.”
“But I don’t even like that,” he motioned toward his food but took a step closer to her, “I bought double for you in case something like this happened.” He smirked at the awed look on her face, taking advantage of her stunned state to sit and bring her onto his lap.
“Even if I loved it, I’d still let you have it,” he continued quietly, leaning his forehead on hers. “You can have anything I have, everything I have. Everything I am, is yours.”
“Such a nerd,” she grumbled affectionately but her cheeks were flaming deep red, but her lips quirked up in a brilliant, adoring smile. She pushed forward, pressing her lips to his gently. She let out a quiet sigh when he wound one arm around her waist to pull her closer and the other into her hair. His lips were softer than she imagined but insistent and demanding, and she was eager to provide. She pulled away after a few glorious minutes, but returned her forehead to rest against his.
“But you got your smile back,” he noted softly.
She gave a nod small enough not to dislodge Jason. “I realized not all good things have abandoned me today.”
He shook his head with a smile. “Never,” he promised before pulling her in for another searing kiss.

Spook-tober Maribat Day 2 — Scarecrow
@maribat-october-rarepairs
This idea stuck with me since the moment I saw 'scarecrow' as a prompt and I really love how it turned out. It's maybe a little bit crack-ish, I'm not sure.
Well, alright, here we go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tim had walked into his fair share of totally weird and unreal scenes since he moved in with Bruce, all those years ago. But walking in the living room to see his fiancée talking with an unresponsive Scarecrow, both sitting on the couch together, was downright the worst one. And the most alarming!
“—and I don’t think that would drive the point home, you understand, Monsieur l’Épouvantail?” Marinette was saying, not looking up from her sketchbook. “I need something that say ‘fuck you for insulting me’, you see. Because the twink dared underestimating me and I can’t—”
“Mari?” He whispered softly, afraid to break the apparent peace if he talked too loudly.
“Huh?” Marinette looked up, lighting up when she saw him. Tim forgot that a rogue was in his living room for all of a second when he saw her smile at him like that, before reality smacked him in the face to make him focus. “Hey, chéri, how was your day?”
“Mari. Mari, babe, why is Scarecrow here?” Tim said slowly, his panic clearly noticeable in his tone. He was walking slowly toward her, keeping his eyes on Scarecrow. Who hadn’t moved since Tim got here. Something was wrong.
“He is my new friend!” She told him excitedly with a smile, putting her sketchbook aside and passing an arm around Scarecrow’s shoulders.
“Wait, don’t—” Tim whisper-shouted, taking a couple of steps toward her, arms outstretched.
“Are you okay, Tim?” She asked with her tilting slightly in confusion. In confusion! “Do you have the phobia of scarecrows? Hey, how do you call the phob—”
“Marinette,” he started, only slightly hysterical. “Marinette. Scarecrow. In Bruce’s living room.”
“Um, yeah? I know, I brought him here? Why— Oh, are you afraid he is going to make a mess? Don’t worry, he isn’t going anywhere,” she said laughing like she just made a hilarious joke. She stopped suddenly, letting go of Scarecrow's shoulders with a frown. “I really need to stop hanging out around Adrien so much, his sense of humour is rubbing off on me.”
“Marinette… Is he,” Tim started slowly, looking at Scarecrow who still hadn’t moved. “Is he dead.”
“Well, obviously,” she said with a frown, oblivious of Tim’s internal panic. “Though, I think it really depends on the definition you give to ‘dead'. Are you dead when you lack life? Or do you need to have been alive for being dead? Technically, is paper a dead tree?”
“Marinette,” Tim whimpered, at the edge of his sanity. “Did you kill the Scarecrow? Before bringing him here, in Bruce’s house?”
“Of course not! I didn’t kill him, I mean. Scarecrow can’t be killed, you dummy.” She told him with a look, standing up from the couch. “But I did bring him there, Kon is going to look for him at our place first, Bruce’s was the best place to hide.”
“Scarecrow can’t— Oh my god, Mari, what?” Tim whispered desperately, putting his hand in his hair, before the second part registered. “Wait, Kon is in on that? What the hell happened between you?!”
“He said I couldn’t steal him! I’m going to make that little twink eat his words,” she told him fiercely, taping her fist in her hand.
“You stole him?! Did you— Oh my god, Mari, did you break into Arkham to steal Scarecrow?” He screeched, already creating plans, and back up plans, to try and keep the backlash of that away from Marinette.
They would need to get rid of the body first, and before Bruce found it. Alfred could probably help. And Jason too, he would help, he loved Mari. Jason probably knew the best place for that. And who to frame for the murder too. Someone awful, so they could knock two birds with one stone. They would need—
“Seigneur, Tim, what the hell are you talking about?!” Marinette exclaimed, cutting through his planning spiral, and looking at him like he was crazy.
“What am I talking about? You just brought a Rogue’s corpse in Bru—”
“Oh mon dieu,” she interrupted, putting a hand on her eyes. “Putain de merde, I forgot they had one like that,” she muttered in french under her breath. “Tim, chéri, do your scarecrow themed supervillain look exactly like that,” she told him slowly, pointing her hand toward Scarecrow.
“Of course he does! It’s his corpse!” Tim screeched, feeling like his head was going to explode.
“Yeah, no honey, it’s not. As it turns out, Martha Kent has a very twisted sense of humour,” she said, looking back at the scarecrow still sitting innocently on the couch.
“Martha Kent— What are you,” Tim muttered, looking at the scarecrow more closely. He was a bit lost as to what Mrs Kent had to do with this situation.
“It’s hers. It’s not the Scarecrow, chéri, it’s a scarecrow. Kon told me that Martha was very protective of her scarecrow, I could see why now. I would too, if I had something that funny in my backyard,” she said with a nod and a contemplative expression. “Anyway, I said that for twenty dollars, I would steal it. And the twink dared to say, in my face, that there was no way I could pull that off.”
“So… you stole it,” he said softly, letting himself fall beside the offending scarecrow on the couch. It was a really good imitation.
“I didn’t just steal it! I used Trixx to make Martha see Kon stealing it,” she said with a smug smirk, and the only thing Tim could think was how attractive that made her. Then she narrowed her eyes and looked at him suspiciously. “Wait, you thought I killed a supervillain and brought his corpse here? Oh my god, Tim, who do you take me for?!”
“Well,” he started, the panic that was finally starting to recede making his way back through him. “I mean—”
“I’m not stupid, Timbers,” she talked over him, ignoring his whimpered ‘don’t call me Timbers, please’. “If I killed someone I wouldn’t bring the corpse here, Jason would be hundreds times more useful than any of you for that sort of crime.”
“Oh my god, do you often think about which one of us would be better to help in your potential criminal activities?”
“Because you don’t?” She asked, an eyebrow raised as if he was an idiot.
“Alright, fair. But—” The violent opening of the door cut through his retort and they both turned around to see a fuming Kon furiously walking toward them. He stopped a couple of steps before Mari, looking at her like he wanted nothing more than to burn her with his eyes only. Which, well, he could.
“Do you know, by any chance, why my grandmother called me to chew me out for stealing her precious scarecrow, when I know for a fact that you are the one who did it?” He told her through clenched teeth. “I had to listen to her lecture for thirty minutes, Marinette. Thirty minutes! She threatened to stop feeding me her pecan pie!”
Marinette blinked at him for a second, before looking at Tim, who was innocently sitting beside said scarecrow.
They both burst in laughter, ignoring Kon’s angry stammering.
Bio!Mom Marinette AU
First posted this on Discord but decided to share it here.
But anyway back to my brain giving me too many ideas
What if instead of a Clone, Conner was Actually Marinette's kid? Like adult Marinette had a one night stand with a reporter friend of Alyas who came up for some reporter convention. And that's literally how she figures out Superman's identity cause 2 years laer she is dealing with a little flying bundle of joy whne Conners powers start kicking in.
Marinette is not Amused when she has to figure out how to get a floating toddler down from the ceiling without freaking out her parents who could be coming over to visit anytime now.
Then skip to 13 years later when Conner is 15 and rebellious and wanting to actually meet his dad. Que one Mama Bug running to Metropolis to find her son after looking everywhere in Paris and France for him. Cause she remembered that he kept asking about who his dad is before disappearing. Oh she is so putting trackers in the next jacket she makes him.
Unfortunately Kadmus captured him thinking they could brainwash the Son of Superman? Which is what leads Clark to thinking Con is his clone instead of his actual blood son?
Marinette never got in touch with Clark cause it was a one night stand and plus he lives in America it's not like either of them could uproot their lives.
And Now she has to travel to America and find her wayward teenage son. And properly introduce Clark to Conner...
Snickers plus Con with a french accent and the European punk look blended with the 90s Kon El look. Sounds adorable and I stan
Plus him slipping into French slang when angry and confusing the heck out of the Americans would be hilarious.
Like the JL is convinced he is a clone due to Speedy being replaced with one and the YJ finding him with Cadmus when they go to rescue Speedy.
Conner being exaperated as he tries to explain that No he is not a clone. Why do you think this? Can he please call his mother?
"My mother wields the power of a tiny God and is an overprotective badass as you Americans say." Conner finally just turning to Robin(Tim) cause the YJ are the only ones so far to listen to him, "That is the right words in English yes?"
Though him being so confused why everyone is addressing him with the last name Kent. "My last name is Dupain-Cheng...who is Kent?"
Him being polite in English cause he learned from his Uncle Adrien instead of listening to his Auntie Alix
Alix thought it was funny to teach him Spanish swear words the last time she taught him a language
Adrien taught him mainly Puns though so Marinette isn't sure about the trade off
Conner getting a crush on Tim cause he is Badass as Robin.
Conner badly flirting with Tim in English is also hilarious
Plus he inherited his mammas clumsiness around crushes.
Omg omg Conner meeting Krypto and just descending into baby talk in french as he Cooes over the dog. Sadly they can't have a dog due to the fur getting every where and Conner really wants one
Conner: cooing at Krypto in French Such a cute doggo. Look at this cute puppy. Who is a good boy!
And just being a bundle of sunshine even though he is nearly 6 ft tall at 15 and rather intimidating with his fashion sense. (He got his grandfather's height and hsi dads
Gina gave him his first leather jacket and Mari has been making them for him since a new one every few years cause he grows quickly.
The Lost Temple
Ao3 ch.2 Masterlist
Marinette and Adrien just wanted to find the temple and go back to pretending they were normal young adults.
Tim just wanted to find out what was going on for Batman and go back home.
Konner and Bart were just along for the adventure.
Neither group expected the other, nor did they expect the complications that followed.
Ch.1: Meetings
Marinette stepped carefully along the jungle floor as Adrien bounced through the trees. Every once and a while she would stop to examine a plant just as he would stop to listen.
Eventually he dropped down beside her without a sound.
“Are you sure this is the right area M'lady?”
“The monks said there were signs of people stopping around.”
“And them being worried about people snooping means this should be where we find the temple.” He nodded sagely before hopping back into the trees. “Did they ever decide to tell you at least what this temple is guarding?”
She shook her head as she stepped over a drowsing snake, “I only know that we need to find it first.”
Adrien hummed quietly before opening his mouth to taste the air.
“Anything?”
“Nothing new. We still have moss, damp, plant, running water and the normal animal smells.”
She sighed to herself, “keep up the good work Kitty, I know we'll find something eventually.”
She glanced around briefly for a flash of red that would indicate Tikki and Plagg returning. She wasn’t worried about being without their power source., not since the final battle. They had been something more than human for years now, but there was still something reassuring about the tiny gods' presence.
She looked up to see Adrien staring down a tiger and shook her head with silent laughter. So maybe he was a lot more cat than human. She thought back on everything as the tiger bowed to let her partner by.
All his physical abilities had been enhanced to the point she was jealous. Her strength had increased a little but for her it was the non-physical that had increased. Everything constantly in balance.
She brushed her hand along a small plant but still received nothing new, the temple either didn’t give off enough residual magic or it was still too far off.
As they continued their search the surrounding animals watched peacefully. They all knew better than to interfere with destruction and creation. It is almost a shame this protection didn’t extend to the trio following them stealthily.
“Rob, they are kids like us. Are you sure they're the ones B sent us after?”
Red Robin sighed, “Batman said he had picked up unusual activity and these two are the only ones we have seen.”
Kon grabbed a snake that was about to drop on Tim and gently tossed it back into the trees.
A small wind picked up as Bart came to a stop and offered them some burgers. “What did I miss?”
Tim pinched the bridge of his nose, “This is supposed to be a reconnaissance mission. Stealth.”
Bart laughed and moved to avoid a brightly coloured plant, “But that is so boring.”
“This was also a solo mission, you two weren’t invited. So please either leave or be quiet.”
Bart held out a mug of coffee that Tim accepted instantly.
“Fine, just cause chaos quietly.” He pulled out his binoculars again before putting them down to rub at his eyes. He would have sworn he saw the teens talking to some large bugs.
“I still don’t think they're dangerous.” Kon whispered almost to himself.
Tim really wondered some days why these were his best friends.
Tikki and Plagg hid quietly as Adrien grinned chaotically, “Plan mouse trap?”
Marinette returned the grin, “You know me so well Chaton.”
Tim was so close, just a little farther and he would be able to hear the teens.
Kon suddenly stuck out an arm to stop him.
“What?”
“I can’t see the guy anymore.”
Bart glanced around, “Isn’t he just in the treetops again?”
Tim reached for a weapon when a collapsible baton lightly smacked his wrist.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
The blonde had somehow gotten behind them.
All three heroes turned but before any of them could react a rope dropped around Bart and pulled him to the ground.
“You heard my partner.”
The girl was fast. Tim couldn’t figure out how she had gotten to them so quickly, until he looked down. There were at least three more loops of rope. They had walked into a trap.
Kon looked to Tim for the signal to attack but Tim wanted more information.
The blonde dropped gracefully from the trees but skillfully kept the baton pointed at Tim. “Why are you following us?”
“Why have you been disturbing the jungle?” He countered.
The girl walked up to stand beside the blonde, “We haven’t disturbed anything.”
The blonde glared, “We’re only here because you have been digging around.”
“But we only just got here.” Bart spoke suddenly out of confusion.
Tim kind of wanted to hit him.
The girl and boy exchanged a look before speaking in a language Tim had never heard before finally the boy collapsed his staff and put it away.
He offered a hand to Kon while the girl untied Bart and gathered up the remaining rope traps.
“I think we have both suffered a misunderstanding.” The girl held out a hand to Tim, “Marinette.”
“Impulse.” Bart had moved to take her hand in a blink, “It is always a pleasure to meet a lovely lady.”
The blonde laughed as Kon finally accepted the handshake, “Adrien.”
“Superboy.”
Tim could see his friend putting more strength then necessary into his grip but the blonde, Adrien, didn’t even flinch. Interesting.
Since Bart hadn’t stopped shaking the girl’s hand yet he decided to cross his arms and smile as politely as he could. “Red Robin. May I ask what misunderstanding you think we've had?”
The girl, Marinette, pried her hand away from Bart before glancing back to spot the starring contest between Adrien and Konner.
“Kitty!” She scolded before turning back to him.
He watched Adrien smile innocently at Kon before sitting down at Marinette’s side.
“We were sent to investigate the activity in this area and put a halt to it if necessary. If you just arrived then you are likely not our target.”
“They're here for the same reason we are Red.” Bart grinned widely as he bounced up and down.
Tim wanted to growl in frustration but knew that was something only Batman could get away with, so he settled on pinching the bridge of his nose. “Impulse, we are only here to gather information. We are not supposed to interfere with anything without orders to do so.”
Marinette and Adrien exchanged another secretive glance before conversing in Mandarin.
“Do you think we could recruit them M'lady?”
“That’s up to them. It would be nice to have help searching though, this is a large jungle.”
“Do you think they can even help find the temple? Superboy is supposed to have x-ray vision but, well, magic.”
Impulse was pouting, “It’s not fair that I can’t understand you. In fact it’s rude. Isn’t it rude Red?”
“I'm sorry. We aren’t used to others around us being.. “ She paused for a moment.
“Friendly?” Adrien supplied.
“That's one word to describe them.” She grimaced.
“Helpful? Polite? Non-hostile? “ Adrien's grin kept getting wider but also slightly more malicious with each suggestion. “Smart? How about, not complete and utter assholes bent on dictating every breathe? I can keep going.”
She started laughing but she could feel the concern coming from the American heroes. “I think that's good Kitty, don’t want to scare them away.”
“Sorry Mari.”
She looked back to Red Robin and Impulse in front of her. “I am sorry, we were discussing working with you three if you wanted to. We would be able to cover more ground and hopefully locate our target in under a week.”
Superboy spoke upfront behind them, “Why mention my name and not the others?”
Adrien contorted to look at the floating boy, “I was wondering if you actually had x-ray vision and if it could be useful in the search.”
Marinette was proud of Adrien, neither of them were the best at lying, so it was nice to see Superboy accept his sincerity and not ask for more in depth details. Red Robin was a different matter entirely, she could see him analyzing them. So she held out her hand.
“What do you say Red, alliance?”
Tim stared a moment before reluctantly shaking, “Agreed. We can discuss the terms as we find a place to camp for the night.”
The two teens looked confused.
“Were you seriously planning to keep going? The sun is setting.”
“Don’t you have night vision goggle or something?” Adrien asked.
Tim was flabbergasted, did these two think that the dark was the only danger they faced. “I do, but this is a jungle. Most of the predators are nocturnal “ The two still looked confused so he elaborated, “I don’t want to be eaten.”
He watched their eyes slowly widened in understanding. Marinette hit a fist into her hand, “I had totally forgotten “
“Predators are a normal threat.” Adrien finished for her with a grin.
Tim eyed them suspiciously, he had been following them all day, and all day he had been avoid snakes and large sleeping felines. Were these two really that lucky to have not encountered anything or was there more going on?
Kon also eyed them suspiciously as moved to no longer be behind them. “How do you forget about predators? I am immune to their attacks and I still remember that they’re dangerous.”
Tim watched the duo have a silent conversation before Marinette sighed, “We forgot because there is nothing in nature that would attack us.”
He and his friends waited for one of them to say more but the duo just blinked at them.
He mentally pinched his nose, this was going to be a long mission. “You aren’t going to elaborate.”
“Nope.” The duo replied in perfect tandem.
Adrien grinned mischievous, “You need to earn the favour of our gods for that.”
Marinette planted her face into her hands, “Kitty, no.”
“Kitty yes.”
“How do we earn their favour? Do they take prayers, food offerings?” Bart asked excitedly.
Kon looked sharply towards Adrien as the boy laughed, “Depends on the food.”
“Camembert.” Kon supplied.
Tim blinked. What god would want that? Then he noticed that the duo had paled considerably. So Kon had either heard or saw something that led to that answer. Interesting.
Bart, of course, noticed nothing. “Ew, that cheese stinks. Cheese whiz is far superior.”
Tim and his friends all jumped as Marinette slapped Adrien hard enough in the chest to cause the boy a coughing fit. What the hell had he missed? It looked painful yet Adrien was smiling and thanking her. He filed this away to think about later.
“So are we making camp?” Marinette smiled sweetly at him.
It was official, Tim hated this mission.
I have the story finished it is just a matter of typing it all up and convincing myself not to scrap the epilogue. There should be 7 chapters in total.
Let me know your thoughts, I am happy to answer any questions that don't give away the plot.
Part1 ... Part2 ... Part3...
Marinette blinked, tilting her head a bit. The streets around them were loud and bustling with bodies and vehicles despite the sun being right at the horizon. Gotham would slow down soon, people being wary of the darkness in the crime-ridden city,but for now it was busy as usual. Marinette and Jon stood outside the stadium that would be hosting the World Fencing Finals, but a familiar face had stopped them right before they entered.
“I didn’t know you liked fencing,” Marinette mused out loud, making Damian tsk and look away. The boy got along with Marinette alright, but that didn’t immediately cancel out his natural standoffish nature.
“Of course you didn’t, I never told you,” he retorted smoothly, the youngest Wayne moving forward to reluctantly open the door for his two friends.
“You hardly talk about yourself at all, actually,” Marinette continued, humming to herself. “Are you keeping secrets?”
Damian scoffed again, even as Jon snickered behind them. “Everyone has secrets. Even a naive child like you should know that.”
Jon couldn’t quite wipe the smile off his face. He had long since gotten used to the strange way the two communicated over the past month since they first met. Marinette always seemed to know when one of Damian’s jabs were or weren’t meant as serious insults, just as Damian was somehow able to always pick up the exact second that Marinette’s caring nature switched from being rooted in kindness to coming from a place of fear.
Yet Jon was the only one of the trio of friends who could hear their heartbeats change pace when they spotted one another, or when their hands accidentally brushed. Neither Damian nor Marinette seemed to realize their own feelings yet, but Jon would be there when they did.
He just hoped their relationship didn’t develop too quickly. Both his best friend and his new sister were dangerously fragile, just in different ways. He didn’t want them accidentally breaking each other.
“Come to think of it,” Jon heard Damian say, pulling the young kryptonian from his thoughts. “You do not talk about yourself quite as much as it seems like you do. You’ve certainly never mentioned liking swordplay.”
“Ah,” Marinette gave Damian a lopsided smile, rubbing the back of her neck. “I like watching it sometimes, but I’m mainly here to see my friend. She’s one of the competitors today, she and I managed to convince her mom to let her sleepover at our place for two nights.”
“But only if she wins,” Jon added sourly. He and his dad had both heard that condition of the deal that Kagami’s mother had made loud and clear. “I’m sorry Mari, but your friend’s mom sounds way too strict and demanding. If she wins this competition, she can spend two days hanging out with you, but if she even gets as low as second place they have to go back to Japan for remedial training immediately?” Jon shook his head. It wasn’t right.
Damian raised both eyebrows at that, but seemed more intrigued than surprised. “I’ve seen stricter,” he commented casually, only succeeding in making Jon glare at him for the veiled reference to his own dark childhood. “But you are right, Kent. That is concerning treatment. Who is this friend of yours, Marinette? Perhaps I have heard of them if they are good enough to qualify for the World Finals.”
By then, the trio had already handed in their tickets and reached the stands. Jon and Marinette glared at Damian when they realized all of their seats were in the front row, right next to each other even, knowing without a doubt that the rich boy was somehow behind it. The two Kents had had much worse seats when they had first purchased their tickets online.
Marinette waited until they all sat down before answering. “I wouldn’t be surprised if you know her. Her name’s Kagami Tsurugi—“
“World class fencer from a long family line of Japanese fencers,” Damian interrupted, nodding knowingly as one of his hands raised to gently grip his chin. “Before Fencing was introduced to Japan, they were famous for their practice of kendo and katana technique. Especially considering their typically untraditional way of insisting that the females in their family take up combat. That, of course, traces all the way back to the ancient female samurai, or Onna-Bugeisha, Tomoe Gozen, one of the ancestors of the Tsurugi family before they split from the Gozen family.”
Marinette and Jon just blinked at the young heir, before Jon’s mouth slowly started to curve up in a mischievous smile. Damian’s eyes narrowed in warning.
“Kent—“
“You’re a fan,” Jon ignored the warning, gleefully grinning ear to ear. “You did your research on her and her family, that’s some hardcore biggest-fan behavior right there. Do you want us to see if she can give you an autographkfgdjgdgj—“ Jon was cut off as Damian lunged over Marinette, the only person separating the two boys, and muffled Jon’s mouth with one hand as his other tried to slam Jon’s head on the chair’s arm. Of course super strength was no joke, and Jon’s head didn’t move even an inch as he laughed through Damian’s hands.
Marinette was somehow able to separate them, and Damian sat back in his chair with a huff and straightened his button-down shirt imperiously.
“I am not a ‘fan’,” he denied primly, but not even Marinette missed the slight pink to his cheeks even through his denial. “I simply acknowledge her skill. As a practitioner of swordplay myself, it is only me being proactive to research her family history. If she is so inclined, I intend to invite her to the manor sometime before she leaves for a casual spar.”
“Oh, she’ll love that,” Marinette agreed, nodding even as the first duel started. “Kagami is always looking for new sparring partners who can keep up with her, but so far only our other friend Adrien and her mom are capable enough. But…” her voice had dropped to a whisper out of respect for the current combatants, but both boys noticed her pause and the way she worried her lip.
“What?” Jon whispered back, worried. Marinette’s nose wrinkled.
“But I don’t know if it’s a good idea to introduce Kagami to Damian. They might end up taking over the world.”
Jon slapped a hand over his mouth to stifle a snort. Damian just smirked.
“Now you must introduce us. Perhaps I can finally meet someone who can conspire with me to get rid of my brothers.”
With that, the three quieted and actually watched the fights. Jon didn’t really understand the rules or what was happening, but he liked watching the footwork and the different styles that each competitor used when they dueled. Then, about the third or fourth match, a fencer in a bright red uniform walked out.
“That’s her!” Marinette squealed, leaning forward in her seat. She and Damian had occasionally whispered to one another about what they thought were good or bad calls on points, and critiquing different competitor’s techniques. It was a bit of an eye opener to Jon, who realized that he didn’t know much about what Marinette’s life was like back in Paris despite living with the girl for almost five months. In fact, he didn’t know much about her beyond what she actively showed at home.
Maybe Damian had a point earlier. Marinette had a weird way of making it feel like she spoke about herself a lot but in reality didn’t share much about herself at all. Most of what Jon knew about her came from experience. He knew her tells for whenever she started getting nervous, excited, worried, or was close to an attack. He knew how to tell when she was feeling overwhelmed or started retreating into herself because she didn’t want to intrude. But this?
Jon watched as Marinette stood up and cheered for Kagami when the red-clad fencer scored swift points.
He didn’t know the things that she liked to do besides designing. She mentioned listening to Jagged Stone, maybe that was her favorite kind of music.
Whatever. Jon wouldn’t let himself dwell on how Marinette didn’t open up as much as he would like—it was his job as the older brother for once to put some effort in too. Besides, with everything else Marinette had been through over the months it made sense for her to be a little closed off.
Jon moved his eyes back to the floor. Kagami lunged forward right then, ruthless as she slashed and didn’t allow her opponent a moment to do anything but scramble to deflect. But the red-uniformed woman was too fast, almost violent in her strikes, and she landed three hits on her opponent within one second.
Yeah. Now that he knew what was going on, he knew how to gently, slowly, learn more about his sister. Sorry Kon, but Jon had his eyes on the Best Brother prize.
Kagami won, without her opponent winning a single point against her.
“You know, Kagami’s fighting reminds me of someone,” Jon spoke up, ignoring the venomous glare Damian sent him. His sister looked over curiously as the fighters swapped out and Kagami was led to the back, where a locker room of sorts was set up for the competitors.
“Really? Who? I’ve only ever seen Kagami fight like that. Maybe her mom, but that’s different.”
Jon smiled, knowing he’d get some shit for this stunt later when he went on patrol with Damien but decidedly not caring.
“Robin. The newest one anyway, you can find videos online from different sightings of him around Gotham. He uses a sword.”
Marinette raised an eyebrow, obviously knowing that he partnered with Robin a lot as Superboy but not knowing that Damien was also intimately aware of that fact.
“Huh, that’s weird. Ryuuko, one of the Paris heroes, also uses a sword. But it’s a Miraculous weapon, so it’s a bit different than a normal sword.”
Jon winced. That backfired, he and his dad weren’t quite ready for the rest of the JL to know about the Paris situation. So much for the plan to bring it up later, when Marinette was better settled into life in America.
“Paris has heroes?” Damian asked, eyes sharp. All it took was one glance from the green-eyed boy for Jon to know that this would definitely be brought up to Batman. Great.
At least the next match started, distracting both of the fencing fans from continuing the conversation. For the moment.
—*—*—*—*—*
Marinette was the loudest voice in the stadium, standing on her chair without shame as she cheered for her friend, Kagami’s lips twitching in the slightest hint of a smile before she bowed her head to accept her medal.
Marinette was not surprised at all to see her friend win first place in the whole competition. Damian was pleased, and suitably impressed. Jon was just happy that this meant Kagami’s mother couldn’t keep Marinette from spending time with her friend.
Hopping down from the chair, Marinette turned to her friend and brother with a large smile. “Come on! Kagami and her mom are going to meet us in front of the building once everything is done, but I don’t want to fight the crowds.”
Jon cringed, nodding and standing up immediately. Marinette didn’t do well in crowds nowadays, though it could certainly be worse. Inside buildings like the school wasn’t so bad, it was mainly outdoors. Jon and his parents never missed how Marinette would constantly hold Lois’s hand or stick religiously to the woman’s side whenever they walked outside around tall buildings or through thick crowds. None of them mentioned it.
Damien picked up on it, having observed Marinette’s behavior firsthand during the only time he had went outside with her somewhere other than school. They had merely gone to buy Damian a new tie that Marinette approved of, but the girl had scarcely gone further than a foot away from him the whole time they were outside in the city. Only the stern glances from Jon had kept him from commenting on it.
Moments later, the two had found themselves waiting outside the stadium at almost ten at night, though none of them seemed particularly uncomfortable. Marinette seemed downright at home, besides her occasional glances up at the building next to them and her refusal to leave Damian’s side. They waited a good half hour in the slight chill of the night air before Kagami Tsurugi, completely changed out of her uniform, walked up beside her mother Tomoe Tsurugi.
The older woman was, to Jon’s slight shock (Damian’s research was VERY thorough), blind. She tilted her head when she and her daughter stopped in front of the trio.
“Miss Marinette?” She asked in flawless English. “How have you been?”
Marinette smiled, the expression oddly soft compared to her usual beaming grin. “As well as I can be, Madame Tsurugi. With me are my adoptive brother, Jon Kent, and one of my new friends, Damian Wayne. If it is alright with you, we would like to go to Damian’s house for the night. My guardians and his father already approved.”
Jon and Damian blinked, never having heard Marinette speak so properly before. It truly said a lot about the kind of woman Tomoe Tsurugi was. The woman gave an icy smile, pleased but distant. She raised one delicate eyebrow.
“I am getting old, but not dumb Miss Dupain-Cheng. I know very well who the Waynes are, and referring to his home as a mere house is a gross understatement that you couldn’t hope to fool me with in a hundred years,” the woman remarked with subtle humor. Marinette chuckled.
“It was worth a shot,” she defended herself with a shrug. Tomoe shook her head in amusement before settling both hands on her cane and straightening her posture.
“If you vouch for your… friend…” Tomoe said with deliberate slowness. Marinette was quick to nod.
“I do. Damian is trustworthy, and I won’t leave Kagami alone, Madame Tsurugi.”
Tomoe’s mouth flattened, and she was silent for a moment. “You know that you are one of the few people I trust with my daughter, Marinette. I will trust your judgement this time as well. However, Kagami must still call me in the morning and when she does reach your new home as well. And you remember her vacation training schedule?”
Both boys looked at each other, wondering why Kagami did not even try to speak up even though they had their own suspicions. The Japanese teen found that to be the moment she was done being silent however, and sighed.
“Mother,” Kagami spoke, back straight and tone level and proper. “I am perfectly capable of sticking to my training on my own. I do not need Mari-hime to remind me.”
Tomoe pursed her lips, but nodded nonetheless. “Alright. Mister Wayne? I trust your father is alright with Kagami bringing her fencing equipment?”
Damian nodded, despite knowing that Tomoe would not see it. For some reason he got the feeling that she was fully aware of the gesture regardless of her lack of sight.
“Of course. I am actually a fencer as well, though not competitively. I was hopeful that Kagami would humor me with a spar, our manor has a rather nice gym that would provide a more than sufficient space for such an activity.”
At that, Tomoe seemed rather pleased. “That is, of course, up to Kagami since she has not seen Marinette in quite some time and likely has plans for her time already. But I encourage any opportunity that my daughter finds to hone her skills.”
“The competitors today were skilled, but lack knowledge of real battle,” Kagami added, locking gazes with Damian. “My mother trains me as if I were actually fighting, so I seldom find fencers able to match my reactions. If you believe yourself capable, I would be honored to cross swords with you.”
“Oh no,” Marinette stage-whispered to Jon even as her eyes stayed on Damian and Kagami. “This is where the world domination starts.”
Even Tomoe couldn’t resist a small grin at that, and it wasn’t much longer before the trio were picked up by Damian’s butler, who introduced himself as Alfred Pennyworth. Inside the limousine, Kagami visibly relaxed. Her back was still straight, though not overly so, and her face was no longer stringently stoic. Once they pulled away from the stadium, she wasted no time pulling Marinette into a tight hug.
“I am sorry I could not be there for you, Mari-hime.”
Marinette laughed, returning the hug enthusiastically. “Don’t be silly! You were at the funeral, and you video chat with me at least twice a week. That’s plenty.”
Kagami shook her head, tightening her hold. “My mother would have been more than happy to take you in. Sometimes I believe she likes you more than me,” Kagami finally pulled away, turning to level a hard stare at Jon. “But that obviously did not happen, so you and your parents better take good care of Mari-hime, or nobody will find your bodies.”
“Kagami!” Marinette immediately reprimanded, aghast. “The Kents are wonderful! And what did I say about the death threats?”
Kagami rolled her eyes. “My cousin’s family still makes traditional katanas. I have plenty of available arms to carry out my promises.”
“Kagamiiiiiii.”
“If they treat you well, then they have nothing to worry about.”
Marinette groaned in despair, dramatically flopping over until she was draped over the side of Kagami like a limp towel. “I’m gonna get you a spray bottle, and every time you threaten somebody with violence I’m going to spritz you.”
Kagami’s eyes narrowed in playful challenge. “You will have to catch me first.”
Damian was smirking, enjoying this interaction a bit too much. “I believe the two of us will get along just fine, Tsurugi. Do you have a favorite katana craftsman, by any chance?”
—*—*—*—*—*
“They’re so tiny!” The man did not seem to realize the danger he was in with that statement. He was apparently one of Damian’s older brothers, Jason Todd. Both Kagami and Marinette, the “tiny” people in question, glared daggers at the man. “Okay, you,” he said to Kagami, “You’re at least intimidating. Don’t unsheathe that sword please. Bruce already told us that you won the World Finals, and I would rather not die today.” He held his hands up in surrender. Kagami just smirked smugly, and crossed her arms.
Marinette narrowed her eyes. “And me?”
Jason blinked. “What about you? You’re tiny and adorable, even when you’re glaring at me!” He boldly came forward to rustle her hair. “Like a little pixie.”
Kagami covered her smile with a hand, eyes dancing with amusement. Bruce, who had been the first to welcome them all in and introduce himself to Kagami, was pinching his nose next to Alfred in the background. Damian’s other brothers were also gathered. Apparently they all had wanted to meet his new friend and Jon’s new sister.
“Be careful, I’m not the one you should be worried about. At least without my sword I am not as dangerous,” Kagami warned. Everyone blinked at her, and her expression quickly turned confused. Her eyes darted to Marinette, who was too busy glaring at Jason with puffed-out cheeks to notice. “Mari-hime… you didn’t tell anyone?”
Marinette finally looked over, shrugging. “I mentioned it to Jon, Clark, and Lois.”
“What are you talking about, Miss Tsurugi?” Bruce asked, curious after the warning from the fencer. Kagami looked up, and slowly a devious smile spread over her face. It was small, but sent shivers over Jason’s spine.
“Jason and Marinette should spar. Mari-hime is quite the combatant when she desires to be.”
Jason crossed his arms, raising his brow and looking Marinette up and down. “I don’t mean to sound rude, but I’m about double her size—“
“Hey Jon, why don’t you call Lois?” Marinette interrupted, turning to look at her brother with a small smirk. “We’ve got her a huge story— burly biker is too scared to spar a girl half his size.”
Cackles arose, the other two of Damian’s brothers leaning on each other as they guffawed. Bruce and Alfred even stifled chuckles of their own, and Damian’s smirk was infuriatingly prominent. Jon was much like the other two Wayne boys, nearly bowled over in laughter. Jason, after a brief moment of shock and offense, straightened up and grinned. He shrugged off his leather jacket with a small huff of laughter of his own.
“Alright, that was pretty good. You want a spar that badly, you got one. But you’re gonna have to really impress me if you want me to take back what I said about you being adorable and nonthreatening.”
“I’m putting fifty dollars on Marinette,” Kagami bet loudly, raising her hand. “Who wants to bet against me?”
Jason and Marinette both shook their heads in amusement, the big man leading Marinette to the family fitness room (the public one anyway, outside of the Batcave) as everyone besides Bruce and Alfred energetically placed their bets on who would win the spar.
Dick and Tim were betting on Jason, for obvious reasons. Damian withheld from betting, but it was clear he was hoping Marinette would somehow win. Jon just stayed quiet, refusing to share any opinion on the matter. But once Jason and Marinette started heading to the sparring mat that was already laid out, he stopped her.
“You sure about this?” He asked, pulling her away so that nobody else could eavesdrop. “I know I laughed and everything, but you don’t have to spar. Jason won’t hold back if you tell him not to, but he’s not a pushover in any respect.”
Marinette frowned. She had gotten a little caught up in the moment, but at the same time… she wanted this. “You guys are great,” she replied to her brother, voice equally soft. “But you and Clark don’t focus on combat technique. I haven’t had a real fight, at least not one where I don’t have powers to fall back on, in a long time. I need this.”
Jon sighed, but nodded. He squeezed her shoulder for a moment, before smiling at the shorter girl. “Then show everyone what you can do. And I suggest telling Jason not to hold back, or you won’t be able to show off as much as you want.”
Marinette bounced on her heels happily, leaning up to kiss Jon on the cheek. “I’m winning Kagami some money today!” She yelled with a fist-bump before jogging over to join a very amused Jason.
“Was your bro giving you some tips?” He asked, stretching out his arms as Marinette giggled.
“Kind of! Jon suggested that I ask you to not hold back!”
Jason froze, gaze sliding over to the young kryptonian, who only smiled back enigmatically. He might not have spent much time around the youngest Super, but he hung out with Kon often enough and he knew that Jon was fully aware of what he was capable of as Red Hood. He wouldn’t suggest that Jason not hold back unless he was actually confident in Marinette’s skill.
The rest of his family seemed to pick up on that as well, also frozen in shock. Jason was one of the most ruthless fighters of all of them, fearless and brutal.
“Kent better know what he’s doing,” Damian hissed under his breath, to which his father and brothers could only nod to silently.
“So the pixie wants me to not hold back? Alright,” Jason agreed to after a moment of stunned silence. Immediately most of his jovial manner drained away, replaced with focus as he spread his legs and sunk into a stance that came naturally to him at that point. If Jon and Marinette both wanted him to treat her like a real threat (without forgetting that this was just a spar, anyway) then he would. Maybe the girl had super strength or invulnerability like the other Supers. That would explain why Clark was so quick to take her in.
“Oh I hope we don’t regret this later,” Bruce groaned before stepping into the center mat and raising one hand. “Alright. Winner is whoever can pin or otherwise subdue the other first. Please, don’t break any bones or skin. I do not need an angry Lois Lane on my doorstep tomorrow morning. You can use the whole room as long as you don’t risk hitting or involving any of us innocent bystanders. Ready?” Bruce backed up off the mat. “Start!” He wasted no time backing away to a wall.
There was no moment of stillness. There was no waiting with baited breath or looking for an opening. As soon as Bruce called Start, Jason attacked.
He jumped over the distance separating him and Marinette, bringing his knee up to try and end this in one strike like he would have in the field.
Only Marinette wasn’t there to take the hit. Just as quickly as Jason had lunged, she had jumped. Instead of Jason kicking her in the stomach, the small Asian girl had leapt up, and landed on the upraised knee balanced on only one nimble foot.
Suddenly, they were face to face. They grinned at each other, and then they were nothing but movement again.
Safety Found in Red Sleeves
Chapter 7
So, who’s ready for Gotham ft. Thana and friends? Also, Uncles Ed and John show up at the end so, look out for that.
Anyways...
Jason woke up early that next day, and he decided he was just going to have a little bit of a lie in. He smiled and pulled Damian closer, shushing him when he made a noise in protest. “I’m pretty sure the girls are going to join us in a little bit, and then Tim a little while after that.”
Just like he expected, Steph and Cass joined them in the bed not too long after he said it, and then Tim joined in a few minutes after the girls. The five of them laid in bed, everyone finding comfort in each other. No words were passed between the family, they didn’t feel the need to speak.
That’s where Dick and Wally, and their kids, found them about an hour later.
“Why weren’t we called to join the cuddle pile?” Dick pouted and crossed his arms over his chest, while Mar’i, Jay, and Iris ducked around their fathers and climbed into the bed. They, like Damian, chose a Wayne and clung to them. Mar’i clung to Tim, Iris clung to Steph and Jai clung to Cass.
“There’s a nine-year-old practically asleep on my chest. My phone is on my nightstand. None of them brought their phones to my bed.” Jason whispered and carded his fingers through Damian’s hair.
Dick shot a look at Wally, Wally simply shrugged as though to say “when in Rome” before he too got into the bed.
“C’mon Dickiebird. We don’t have anything to do today. We don’t start guiding or protecting them till tomorrow.” Jason’s words were slightly slurred in his comfortable state.
Dick huffed good-naturedly before climbing into the bed with his family and the Wests.
---
Tim’s phone blared from the room he’d claimed, stirring the almost completely asleep cuddle pile into wakefulness.
Jason frowned and shifted Damian from his chest to Steph’s other side. “I’ll be right back. Imma go answer Timber’s phone.” Jason slowly got out of the bed, being careful to not displace the other kids, and quietly left the room. He made his way into Tim’s room, grabbed his phone off of the night stand, and, without looking at the caller ID, answered the phone. “Timothy Jackson Drake’s phone, Jason speaking.”
“Why do you have his phone?” Bruce’s irritated voice came over the line.
“Because Tim’s in my bed asleep with most of my family and he left his phone on the nightstand next to the bed he sleeps in.” Jason’s voice didn’t change despite a grin forming on his face. “If something’s gone wrong at Wayne Enterprises, then shouldn’t you as the CEO be stepping up to solve it? And not your seventeen year old son.”
“You have no-” Bruce growled.
“I have no what? Room to care about my little brother? Right to care that my brothers and sisters would perish in your care?” Jason’s tone took on a deadly edge. “I have killed for less. I have killed to keep my son safe. I am not above maiming in the defense of those I love.” Jason hung up the phone and put it back down on the nightstand with a weighted sigh. He turned and the only indication he was surprised by Cass’s appearance was a slight widening to his eyes. “Hey Cass.”
Cass simply walked towards her brother and let herself slump against his chest. She wrapped her arms around him in her own display of thanks.
Jason simply rubbed circles into the older girl’s back. “I will not let him hurt any of you ever again. Harvey and I will fight tooth and nail if we have to, he has already given up his parental rights to Damian. You and Steph and Tim are just as much my siblings as you are my kids, well, you not so much a kid but you know what I mean.”
Cass shook with silent laughter and nodded. She patted Jason’s back and pulled back. She flashed him a smile before pulling him back to the rest of the family.
---
Jason smiled as Damian ran around the park with Mar’i, Jai and Iris. Damian hadn’t had many opportunities to open up to children his age, as there hadn’t been any in the league, and despite the fact that he was older than the other three the four of them got along fairly well. Jason watched as Dick fretted over the three younger kids, Wally stood beside him with a small affectionate grin on his face. Tim was riding a skateboard around the park, Bart keeping pace beside him. Cass sat with Kon while Steph, Cassie and Cissie chatted a few paces away from the other two.
Damian, Mar’i, Jai and Iris ran around the park, weaving around other patrons and laughing. Damian looked over his shoulder at the other three when he ran into someone.
“Are you okay? Oh I’m so sorry.” A girl, who was with the person Damian ran into, spoke with a French accent. She was significantly taller than her companion with long black hair, the bangs and tips of which were dyed purple, and copper coloured eyes. She fretted over both Damian and her friend, who Damian was finally taking in. Her friend was short, just a head or two taller than Damian, with blue eyes and short pink hair, part of which was pulled back into a spiky ponytail.
Damian nodded. “I’m fine.”
Mar’i, Jai and Iris, upon seeing Damian standing, turned and ran to get their fathers.
The taller girl nervously flicked her bangs out of her face before frowning. “Are you sure you’re okay? Alix doesn’t always look where she’s skating.”
The other girl, apparently named Alix, looked ready to comment when Dick and Wally approached.
“Are you okay Damian?” Dick’s tone was filled with concern while Wally hung back with the three other kids.
“I’m fine Uncle Dick.” Damian frowned, “where’s Baba?”
“He’s gathering the other three, then they’ll be over here.” Dick reassured his young brother/nephew.
Jason ran to his son and scooped him up. “Oh Kutlat Saghira. Are you okay?” He turned to look at the French teens and smiled. “Thank you for stopping to make sure he was fine.”
Alix’s eyes widened before nodding. “Yeah, uh, no problem.”
Juleka gave a shy smile and nodded. “It was the least we could do.”
-*-*-*
Thana stared at her friends, the three who had always had her back and the two newest additions to their ranks. She took a moment to thank Plagg and Tikki, without whom she may never have met her closest friends and allies. She took in her friends and the way that all of their outfits seemed to go together without being obnoxiously matchy-matchy.
Alix seemed to be vibrating in her shoes, which were custom made turtle shell patterned Heelys. She wore dark gray distressed jeans with a dark forest green racerback tank top. She had a black and red men’s flannel over her tank with a red beanie perched on the top of her head. She had a dark green turtle themed shoulder bag strapped across her back.
Nino, standing next to Alix, had similar shoes done in snake skin instead of turtle shell. He wore loose-fitting blue denim jeans with several snake related patches around the side seems, he had a gray collared shirt under a red sweatshirt. He had a black shoulder bag across his back, on the opposite side Alix’s was. He had his normal headphones around his head while he had a pair of black headphones atop his head.
Adrien wore black and white checkered vans with white socks. His pants were salmon with baby pink criss-crossing stripes covering them. He wore a baby pink sweater with a light gray fanny pack.
Chloé wore a layered yellow skirt with a pair of foxes chasing each other around her hem, her skirt was made up of a solid layer of yellow silk under two or three layers of tulle. She had a white crop top tank under a red knit cardigan. She had an orange coloured baguette purse at her side. She had black converse with black socks to finish off her outfit.
Kim wore a pair of black running shoes, with gray sweatpants and a white shirt. He had a red zippered hoodie on top of that. He had a tiny gray ox with a smaller black cat curled up on its back on the hem of his shirt.
Thana had a pair of black running shoes, with gray leggings and a white tank top. She had a red crop top hoodie made of the hoodie she’d received from Jason all those years ago with a few added panels. Her tank top had little depictions of the Vietnamese zodiac animals on her chest.
Alix smiled brighty. “So, Kiti, you’ll never guess who I ran into, almost literally, yesterday.”
Thana hummed in acknowledgement as she led the group to the elevator. “Who’d you run into Rùa?”
“Oh, just, your brother, his brother, and an assortment of children.” Alix grinned as Thana froze and turned to look at her.
“What?” Thana’s voice was almost too quiet to hear, prompting Kim to drape his arm across her shoulders while Nino settled his normal headphones around Thana’s neck.
Chloé stared at Adrien, her blue eyes seeming to stare into Adrien’s soul.
“Hey, Al, that maybe wasn’t the best thing to say when we’re trying to get to the lobby to go on a tour with the rest of our class.” Adrien attempted to gently tell her off, but it backfired.
“Whatever.” Alix slunk ahead of them into the elevator.
---
Adrien looked at Alix forlornly as Alix chatted with Juleka. He knew he’d have to apologize eventually, he may have one fear as Monsieur Punaise (which was his partner) but he had two fears as Adrien Agreste, and they were disappointing his father and an angry Chloé Bourgeois. He shook his head and looked back at Chloé, who had a frown on her face as her eyes continued to scan the streets.
Nino fiddled with his phone as he kept pace a step behind Chloé but a step ahead of Thana and Kim. He looked to be fully absorbed in his phone but he was quick to pull Chloé away from the street a few moments before a car came whizzing past.
Their tour guide, a pleasant man who’d introduced himself as Richard, despite the fact that the bodyguard had snorted in response before neglecting to introduce himself, led them around Gotham. He pointed out all of the touristy destinations, while Thana mumbled what could be considered sad facts about each place.
Thana kept flicking her eyes to the bodyguard, there was only one Gothamite with the exact same build as their bodyguard with the same scars littering his cheeks and jaw. She was worrying the cuffs of her jacket sleeves when she heard the distinctive tap of her Uncle Ed’s cane. She whipped around to attempt to locate him, before seeing him and his tacky suit and her Uncle John and his equally as tacky suit approaching from behind Kim. She broke away from the group, causing the rest of her class (as well as the tour guide and bodyguard) to turn to stare at her as she threw herself into her Uncle Ed’s arms.
“Little Hood. It’s good to see you.” Her Uncle Ed held her close while Uncle John finally reached the duo.
“Hey Mini Todd.” Her Uncle John ruffled her hair before settling an arm around Ed’s shoulders.
The three reunited for a moment under the watchful eyes of the class’ bodyguard, Thana’s friends, and Marinette’s class. Kim pulled out his phone to take a picture to send to his Mẹ, because she had asked for any updates on Thana’s family situation. Nino took a picture to send to Thana, because he knew she’d want to have photographic evidence of when she reunited with her two of her uncles.
“I missed you two so much.” Thana whispered into Ed’s neck while John settled his hand on the back of Thana’s head.
“We missed you too.” John assured their niece, he knew that she’d had doubts about whether or not they had actually missed her as much as she’d missed them, and he hated her father for giving her that complex every day.
Lila let out a blood-curdling scream before appearing to tremble as she pointed at the trio. “Marinette is hugging The Riddler and Scarecrow!” Lila then proceeded to pretend to faint, luckily for her Alya was right there to catch her, unluckily for her everyone else was focused on their classmate and that fact that she appeared to have tears streaming down her cheeks.
Nobody's son nobody's daughter
by Sparrowlmao MARINETTE WISHES TO DIE, who wouldn’t after what she has been through? The day her parents died in her arms she became a shell of herself, they had defeated Hawkmoth, yes. But the price had been too much for Marinette. Her life was in shambles and her mental state was at an all time low, so what does she do? She finds Hippolyta and tries to find the peace she so desperately deserves. But that peace has yet to find her as she realizes that her mission didn’t end in Paris, it was just the beginning. Maribat Rare Pairs — Day 4 — Caught in the rain
@maribat-october-rarepairs
What is the ship name for Bart x Marinette?? Bartinette? Bartnette?? MariBart?? Mart?? (I don't like this one)
I'm calling them Bartinette.
Also, TimKon if you blink. It's really only in subtext, but still.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a rule, Marinette didn’t make long car trips after the sun was down. There was something that always bothered her about long and almost empty highways. Not that she was scared, of course not. It was just more convenient to do the trip by daylight. And safer, too.
But Tim and Kon’s christmas party was tonight and she had been needed at the New York’s headquarters until 5pm. By that time the sun was already down and she could only take the road or miss the party. Tim would kill her if she missed the party.
She would have used Kaalki’s Miraculous, but Tikki had looked at her with that disapproving expression when she had brought the idea, and she had relented.
At least, Bart had also business in NY and proposed to carpool with her, so she was not alone. Even if she had to spend two hours confined in a car with him, fighting down her blush as he joked and laughed. His laugh was very, very pretty and it was taking all of Marinette control to keep
An hour in and she was starting to regret their close proximity. She hadn’t been able to say anything to him, not trusting herself to not stutter like her middle school self in front of Adrien, but he didn’t seem to notice, filling the silence alone. Telling her embarrassing stories about all the people they knew, and some she didn’t.
That’s when the rain started.
Marinette hated to drive under the rain.
And Bart was just here, beside her. Being all pretty, and funny, and cute, and laughing, and she couldn’t focus. And that was making driving under the rain even more difficult.
They were just out of the city limits when her car started to make really, really worrying sounds.
“Oh no, oh no, oh no,” she muttered with panic when the car slowed down.
“Something wrong?” Bart asked her with a cute little tilt of the head.
“Ah, um. Yes?” She said slowly, parking the car on the side of the road and putting on her warnings.
“I don’t have any signal,” he told her, waving his phone at her. “Do you?”
I— Um,” she muttered, taking out her phone to look. “No, I don’t.”
“Well, I think we are going to be late to the party,” he said with an attempted smile, not a very successful one. “Tim is not going to be happy.”
She hummed her agreement, avoiding his eyes. Now that she wasn’t driving anymore, it was way more difficult to ignore his presence this close to her. Why did she accept to this torture, again? Oh, yes. Because he asked her with his blinding smile, and that ‘yes’ had been out of her mouth before she even registered his proposition.
“So, wanna go to Tim and Kon’s place on foot?” He asked, looking out the window. She actually blinked in surprise, looking out. The rain was still pouring.
“Ah, uhm— I— Uh, not really, actually,” she stammered out, still avoiding his gaze. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
“Oh,” he mumbled, she saw his shoulder dropping in disappointment from the corner of her eyes. “Right. Do you have another idea?”
She didn’t, no. Chewing nervously her lip, she looked back at the backseat with the rearview mirror, Tikki was still sleeping but, then again, transforming in Ladybug wasn’t going to help her. Maybe she could use her yoyo to—
Her brain froze suddenly when she felt Bart’s hand on her arm.
“Hey, it’s fine, don’t worry. We can just wait a bit for the rain to stop,” he told her with a comforting smile. Marinette looked up at him, feeling the sudden need to kiss him.
“Yeah!” She exclaimed, looking around for an escape. She needed to get some distance before she did something stupid. “I’m going to try to get a signal!”
She opened her door, making Bart jerk back in surprise, before trying to get out but was stopped by her security belt. Cursing, she got it off and got out, slamming the door behind her. Only then realising that she was being drenched by the rain, and that her phone was still inside the car. Taking a deep breath, she turned back and opened the door.
“I, um, just need that,” she muttered, grabbing her phone without looking at Bart, and slamming the door again.
She walked to her trunk, deciding that now that she was out, she could place that warning triangle thing you were supposed to place when something like that happened.
She was just putting it in place when Bart got out of the car, her coat in his hand. Marinette hadn’t even noticed she wasn’t wearing it. She took it with a muttered ‘thanks’, looking somewhere around his chin.
“Did I say something to hurt you?” He asked suddenly, more serious than she ever heard him outside of the field. “Maybe I did something to offend you?”
“What?!” She exclaimed, looking up at him in surprise, not sure she heard him right above the sound of the rain. "Non! No, of course not! Why—”
“I don’t know!” He said, shrugging his arms and shoulders. “I’m just trying to understand why you don’t like me! I’m sorry if—”
“Wait, you think I don’t like you?!” She asked, so astonished she forgot about her nerves.
“You don’t,” he told her with a frown. “You don’t talk to me outside of mission, and if you do you don’t look me in the eyes. I see you with Tim or Kon or Cassie or anyone, really. You laugh with them, and you are friendly and relaxed but as soon as I come near you, you shut down.”
“And— And you think it’s because I don’t like you?” She asked with a disbelieving tone.
“Why else?” He said, passing a hand through his wet hair. “Look, I don’t know what I did but I really hope you can push past it because I think you’re great! You are funny, and strong, and cute— Not that that has anything to do with it! I’m just saying, I’m sorry for whatever I did—”
She didn’t know why she did it, but Marinette suddenly grabbed his face and kissed him. It took her less than a second to register what she was doing and letting go, taking a step back.
“Oh mon dieu, I’m so, so sorry! I—” she stopped, putting both hands on her mouth.
“You kissed me,” Bart said slowly, blinking at her.
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! It’s just— You said— But it was— And then— You’re wrong,” she said suddenly, looking down at her hands. “You didn’t say anything to hurt or offend me. The problem isn’t that I don’t like you, the problem is that I like like you.”
“You like me, like me,” he said slowly, and Marinette didn’t want to see the expression on his face. “As in, ‘you would go on a date with me’ like me?”
“Um, yeah. That’s— That’s sum it up,” she said, playing nervously with her hands. “And I never was my best self with my crushes so I— I figured that if we don’t interact much, you wouldn’t hate me?”
“And it never occured to you that I could like you back?” Bart asked, something akin to amusement and relief in his tone.
“What?!” She asked, looking back up at him. Bart took a step toward her, his hand coming up to put a wet strand of her hair behind her ear before cupping her jaw.
“You’re beautiful, badass, funny, when you don’t talk to me, at least,” he added with a small, his eyes searching for something in hers. “There is nothing in you not to like, and I was heartbroken that you seemed to not like me that way. But you do.”
“I— Um, yeah. Yeah, I do,” she said softly as his face came closer to hers. She looked down at his lips. “Can I kiss you again?”
“Yes, please,” he told her with a chuckle.
And she did. It wasn’t fireworks or butterflies in her chest, but it was just as good, if not better. It felt right and warm. Like coming home.
They stayed there for a while, ignoring the rain and the world around them, losing themselves into each other.
“Oh my god, Bart,” Marinette said, jerking her head back. “You’re a speedster.”
“What?” He said, blinking the daze out of his head.
“Bart,” she repeated with realisation. “You’re a speedster!”
“Uh, yes? That’s not news?” He told her with confusion. “You’ve known that for almost two years?”
“Oh my god, Bart,” she said again, starting to feel stupid. “When you asked to go on foot, were you planning to use your vitesse?”
“Well, yes? But you—” He paused, looking down at her with a grin creeping on his face. “Mari, did you forget about my vitesse?”
“Oh mon dieu,” she muttered, hiding her face in his chest.
“You thought I planned to make you walk all the way there without super vitesse under this rain?” He asked, laughter seeping in his tone.
“Shut up,” she muttered halfheartedly, hitting him with her fist.
“That explains why you said no, at least,” he said when his laughter finally calmed down. “So, now that you remember my powers, wanna get out of here? We can call a tow truck from Kon’s place.”
“Oh please, yes!” She said, looking up at him. She smiled stupidly when he gave her a peck on the lips. “Let me just grab my stuff and Tikki.”

Always Been The Missing Piece
This is, uh, a sequel to the Maribat Secret Santa thing I wrote for @worlds-tiniest-spook-pastry because Ailelie over at Ao3 gave me a good idea in the comments for an identity reveal fic because obviously they don't know the other isn't a civilian. So. Uh. I am planning at least one more sequel after this because I was given a perfect idea for BartAdrien identity reveal on the Maribat discord server and I need to write that too. Just, don't expect it to turn as long as either of these. And seriously, you really should read this only after Like You Could Be Family, because I seriously doubt this will make much sense without, but it's not like I will be able to actually stop you so....
(Also how the hell did I get to 13k? This has got to be the longest one-shot I've ever written please help me I have a problem)
Ao3 || First part | Third part
This is Maribat -- Don’t like; don’t read.
___________
“I don’t think disowning him is even necessary to make him my brother, and it seems there’s a chance we might become family regardless of whether this Bruce adopts me or not.”
Tim stared at the words written permanently on his wrist, rubbing the skin as though to see if they would smudge and leave. They did not. He had never truly thought of even getting a soulmate when he was young.
(Well, obviously he’d thought about it, rather often too. It was just that he always thought he wasn’t going to get one — either because his parents didn’t have one and he would surely be just like them, and then later, once he became Robin and later Red Robin, he thought that even if it wasn’t going to be because of his parents, then he wouldn’t get a soulmate because he wasn’t going to make it alive to 18.)
But, as all things that had anything to do with Fate always did, it didn’t go as he thought. After all, Fate was never quite so simple.
As it turned out, he made it to 18 and got a soulmark.
There was someone in the world Fate thought was the perfect match for him.
Then he for the longest time believed he would meet them while he was in the vigilante business because if his soulmate was a civilian, what would he even do? There was always a high chance of death because of what he did on a nightly basis, and it was certain he would have to disappear on multiple nights and occasions just to be Red Robin — no way he was going to give that up. That meant, that if he had a civilian romantic soulmate, they might accuse him of cheating, and then his life could be ruined because he was the damn CEO of Waye Enterprises and thus in the public eye all of the time. The words written on his wristed also sounded both like they could be romantic or platonic soulmates, since usually soulmates considered one another family of some sorts automatically — it didn’t necessarily mean his soulmate was speaking about one of his brothers becoming their brother-in-law. They all knew there was a chance Bruce would adopt his soulmate one day (no matter what they said about that being unnecessary.)
Then he actually met his soulmate.
He met Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
A sweet young woman almost his age, perhaps around a year younger than him (turns out he was right when she told him of herself later before he managed to go and search her up), with black hair the shade of midnight sky, her eyes blue as Morning Glories. She was kind, thoughtful, great at baking (she could so some pastries better than Alfred could, and that said a lot about her skills), and she shared Tim’s love of coffee (Dick had been horrified when he found her pouring energy drinks into extra strong black coffee after the first night she spent at the manor).
She was also MDC, Tim’s all-time favourite designer, and it was suddenly much easier to commission her when she could just show him the designs in person and talk about them — why she wanted this thing here and that thing somewhere else. Tim was also much more eager to pay her a whole lot more than what she ever asked for, even if that was partly because Marinette was trying her hardest to lower her prices for him.
Yeah no, that didn’t work with him at all — she was fantastic at what she did and he’d be damned if he let her do the work underpaid.
She never pushed his boundaries too far, only enough to have him open up a little, but because she never made him feel uncomfortable or like she was trying to use him, it was fine; He was horrible at opening up himself and wouldn’t have done it without her. It was clear she knew what was alright and what was not — most of the time anyway. And even when she did push his boundaries too far, it was because she tried to show her appreciation to him or got too excited, and when he or someone else pointed it out to her (because she was bad at noticing it herself), she immediately stopped doing the thing and apologised over and over because she never meant to violate his boundaries.
And then she made sure to never overstep it again unless he gave her the explicit permission to do so.
That told him more about her than many other things did or even could.
She was also intelligent, sassy and sarcastic when she wanted to be, had a strong sense of justice and he knew for a fact she knew how to fight and well. She’d mentioned having done martial arts for quite some time and because she made a complaint about having nearly no opponents on her level, Jason asked her if she wanted to try and spar with him. She agreed and won two out of three matches, and though there was a chance he was just holding back (unlikely, considering how much Jason had talked about it on patrol that night), Damian had challenged her after that and they came to a tie. Twice. Damian then won the last round, probably when he finally stopped underestimating her and holding back. There was no way she wasn’t good.
Marinette always tried to help people in need if she could and wouldn’t take no for an answer when she decided that a person beaten to a bloody pulp was in no condition to walk home, especially not alone. If she had to pay for the taxi to get them home, well, she did, never expecting anyone to pay back.
She was absolutely perfect, if you asked Tim.
The problem was, she was a civilian regardless of how well she fought or how intelligent she was. He could never risk her safety by being in a close relationship with her in case someone found out his identity and decided to use her against him. Wouldn’t be the first time that happened in vigilante business. It had given him enough of a heart attack to be with her while in civvies and get caught by the Riddler because of course he had to be there and there was nothing Tim could do to help her himself — the small and young CEO was not supposed to be able to punch a guy’s teeth in.
And then she’d gone and insulted his fashion taste. Tim agreed, definitely, that green and purple three-piece suit was atrocious, but it was a horrible idea if you were a civilian because the Riddler was extremely sensitive about his fashion choices and a villain and he had hardly any rules as to what he did and to whom, unlike some of the Rogues. Marinette didn’t even have any protective gear against him.
So yeah.
An almost-heart attack.
Turns out, she solved all of his riddles rather quickly, some of them with Tim once the Riddler noticed him, and in the end they all got out safely and unharmed.
At least half of the credit of that definitely went to Marinette.
The best course of action would either be to tell her, or cut ties with her, make her hate him or anything that got her out of the danger zone that came with being in a close relationship with him.
The second option was definitely not what he wanted.
And that was what led him to here, sitting at the table in the apartment he used (especially) when he needed an escape from his dear but way too invasive family with Kon and Bart.
“It’s just, I don’t know what to do! I like her, I really do, but I can hardly pursue a relationship with a civilian. I might endanger her life! We’ve seen that happen with enough many of us. Someone figures out our identity, kidnaps a loved one and puts them at risk. Or sees us too close to a civilian while in the suit and decides they’ll put the loved one at risk anyway. I can’t risk my soulmate’s life for something like that, she doesn’t deserve it,” Tim exclaimed, groaning as his head hit the table. Thank heavens Bart had pulled the plate from under him just in time before his forehead would have ended up in his food.
(Though it was likely he was going to lose half of his food to Bart as well, it was likely he was going to eat Tim’s food while Tim wasn’t there to protect it. Asshole friends and all that.)
Sure, Kon and Bart would have probably had fun watching him ruin his looks (and hair, especially his hair) because of the tomato sauce and spaghetti he somehow had not managed to burn, but maybe they were pitying him enough for his soulmate problems to not just let it happen for this one time. That, and he’d gotten injured in their latest fight and he would not honestly be surprised if they blamed themselves for it at least a little — that was what Tim kept doing if any of his teammates got injured when he was there and even theoretically could have helped.
“Tell her?” Bart suggested, shrugging as he filled his mouth with the spaghetti. From Tim’s plate. Oh well. Telling him to stop would probably not really help and it’s not like Tim couldn’t just steal Kon’s food later. Bart continued speaking as soon as his mouth was empty. “I don’t see why not. If she’s as amazing as you make her out to be, I can’t see a reason why you shouldn’t tell her. I’m gonna tell Adrien, by the way.”
“Do you have any idea when you’re going to do it?”
“Nope, but not yet ‘cause I don’t think it’s fair or appropriate since Paris just declared their heroes dead ‘cause they haven’t made any appearances — but that’s not to say they don’t know where the bodies are, perhaps they’re just protecting them? — in quite the while, but I will soon enough. Wouldn’t be fair to him to keep it a secret, right?” he chuckled and chewed on his (Tim’s) food.
Oh yeah. Paris’ heroes, the ones that were apparently dead. The heroes they had thought didn’t actually exist and were just a make-believe story to entertain people until Paris held a public memorial for them because they were nowhere to be found and told the people they just hadn’t found their corpses, but maybe that was just to protect their identities. The reminder they hadn’t helped them with their villain felt like a punch in the gut to Tim now, even if he hadn’t been the one to make the decision to not help.
He shook the thoughts away. This was not the time for blaming himself or anyone else for it, he could very well do that later.
“Kon?”
“I agree with Bart. If you think she’s good for you, I think it’s better if you just told her. It’s not like you would want to just cut ties with her to protect her and hurt the both of you at the process. It would definitely be like you, but I know you don’t want to do that to the one person meant for you.”
Tim sighed and stole his plate back. It was significantly emptier than it had been two minutes ago. Damn Bart. As a last-ditch effort, he stole Kon’s plate and scooped some of his food to his own plate, ignoring the rather offended look on Kon’s face. His fault, he hadn’t protected Tim’s food from Bart. Besides, Tim needed to eat something proper, after all. It might have been a little too long since the last time he ate more than an energy bar… so probably around three days since.
No wonder he was the smallest of them.
Munching on his food, he sunk back into his thoughts while Bart and Kon chatted animatedly, the few words he picked up indicating the conversation was about soulmates and Adrien in particular.
It had been a few weeks since he and Bart met their soulmates, but both of them were definitely interested in them — likely romantically, but only time would tell for sure. Marinette was amazing and sweet and Adrien must have been the only one as much of a sunshine child as Bart was, though according to Marinette, he could be a little shit when he felt like it. Then Bart and Kon had overheard Marinette discussing Adrien’s father with someone and turns out, Bart was ready to run to Paris and kick the man’s ass himself, regardless of whether he was in prison for being a supervillain and terrorising the city for years or not. Not that Tim would have stopped him. After all, Stephanie too had decided to ruin his father’s plans when it turned out he’d become a villain.
...That was something Adrien could probably bond over with Stephanie at some point. Maybe they’d found the “my dad’s a supervillain and I had nothing to do with it” club.
(“The list of bad dads just grows and grows,” Tim swore he’d heard Bart say afterwards with a suspicious grin on his face. Tim wouldn’t disagree with him though, he could name quite the number of them himself as well, one of them being his very own father.)
Then Marinette had heard Bart declare war on Gabriel Agreste and immediately told him she was joining — according to her, he didn’t have a choice in the matter because she really wanted to kick his ass again.
(Again? When had she managed to do it in the first place?)
So yeah. Having a civilian soulmate was difficult.
Then again… What if he made her a vigilante? She did possess all of the necessary qualities and even more to become a good vigilante that he could think of. Perhaps he should ask her if she’d like to do that. After all, she was now family, both Bruce and Dick had declared so (rather clearly and Dick loudly), accompanied by Alfred’s nods, Jason’s approving humming (and the way he started treating her better than he did most of the family), Cass’ silent approval visible in her smile as she looked at Marinette, and a little reluctant Damian as well.
It wouldn’t matter she didn’t have any superpowers like some people did — none of the family did, and they were all great at what they did, even if Gotham was nearly impossible to save at this point anymore. She was already good at martial arts, knew how to take care of herself (if it didn’t mean her inability to eat when she was supposed to or her reluctance to go to sleep (nightmares, perhaps?), but she knew how to defend herself and others.) She would make a good vigilante, especially with some special and personalised training. Now he only needed it approved by the rest of the family because she could and would put two and two together and realise all of them were involved with the vigilante business if he came clean to her as one.
Actually, that sounded like a good idea.
Then his phone chimed on the coffee table in the living room and he all but ran there, injuries be damned.
“Hey, careful there, you wouldn’t want us to tell Alfred you need new stitches,” Kon called after him before turning to Bart. “How much do you want to bet that was Marinette messaging him right there?”
“Nope, not betting anything when we both know full well it was Mari. There’s no one else he’d practically dive out of the table for and leave his food unguarded with us. Speaking of...”
“Bart! Do not even think about eating my food while I’m gone! It better be still there untouched when I come back, or so help me god I will kick your ass back to the next millennium!”
Bart just snickered.
God, why was he even friends with Bart?
Oh yeah, because he didn’t know how to live on without him (or Kon) anymore anyway.
⬷۵⤐
Marinette paced around her room in the Manor, panic clearly showing on her face. Adrien sat on the bed placed near the wall, leaning to it, seemingly unconcerned. He was mostly waiting for Marinette to calm down enough to stay still and just listen for a second in between her freak outs.
Thank kwamii for the fact they had gotten Wayzz to secure the room and create a shell in which they could talk without needing to worry whether someone heard them or not. No one would. They were safe.
...They also wouldn’t disturb anyone with it since it was way past midnight already.
“But this ruins everything!” Marinette exclaimed, finally standing in one place long enough for Adrien to decide paying attention to her would be worth it. Or, could be worth it.
Adrien rested his chin on his palm, tilting his head. “Now, Buginette, I love you and all, but this is getting ridiculous, utterly ridiculous (“Don’t you dare sound like Chloé right now, Adrien!”) Are you sure you need to panic about all this? As far as I see it, you could just, I don’t know, tell him. Gabriel isn’t a threat anymore, and even if he was, we aren’t in Paris,” he said, and plopped down on the bed, propping one leg on his knee. Plagg seated himself on Adrien’s head, ready to take a nap, while Tikki had nestled on Marinette’s shoulder. It was amazing how she was so used to Marinette freaking out that she could just stay calm on even a pacing Marinette.
“I know I could tell him because Gabriel is behind bars, and I should tell Tim because otherwise it won’t be fair to him and I like him, probably romantically soon, and I can’t let myself pursue a romantic relationship with anyone that doesn’t know because it’s too much to keep a secret, but I have no idea how to! What if I scare him off because right now it looks like the both of us are staying here in Gotham — or at least the States — and knowing the two of us, we won’t be able to just quit hero work either! Speaking of which, we have to design ourselves new suits because Paris just declared us dead like a week ago. Not Marinette and Adrien, obviously, but Chat Noir and Ladybug. Understandable, we just disappeared after the fight with Papillon and there’s no way anyone would believe him if he said he didn’t hurt us so why would they believe he didn’t also kill us and—”
“Nette, please, try to breathe and calm down. It’s not that serious of a situation,” Adrien tried but Marinette had resumed pacing around and it was clear as day she was freaking out. It was also clear she wasn’t listening to a word he said anymore, and barely even paid attention to the fact she wasn’t, in fact, alone in the room in general. He sighed and stood up, grabbing his best friend by the shoulders. Plagg shrieked before he shut his mouth because of his holder’s sudden movement.
Now that had her stop and concentrate her attention on him again.
“I know it’s difficult for you to reveal your identity to anyone, including me even long after I realised my behaviour was a big no-no and apologised to you, and that’s fine. It just means you’re being responsible. But. This is your soulmate we’re talking about. There are so many reasons why you should tell him and you know that if you don’t, whatever relationship you might end up in with Tim might go horribly wrong if all the while you’re keeping a secret such as this from him.” Adrien took a deep breath and looked Marinette directly in the eyes. “I am well aware you like him like, a lot, so there’s no way you’d want to risk losing him in either way — by putting him in danger or by having him tell he can’t take you disappearing on him all the time anymore.”
Damnit. Adrien was right. Marinette hated it when Adrien was right. Mostly, because usually when Adrien was right and even she had to admit it because it was so obvious, it meant that the kwamii also agreed with him. And well. When Tikki, the literal miniature goddess of creation, said something should be done, her word was final. She had no way out of this, now did she?
“Nope!” said Tikki from next to her ear.
Oh. She’d said that out loud. For crying out loud.
But yeah, she truly did like Tim, a lot. He was smart, could banter with her rather easily without ever making her uncomfortable by doing so, was never put off by sarcasm (which was, unfortunately, quite rare nowadays and that meant she found it rather refreshing), and he was kind. Also, he had a huge sweet-tooth and mostly a good taste which meant she could freely bake a lot and Tim would likely enjoy any and all of it. She could use him to test new recipes, too.
She also liked his appearance — a lot. His looks were definitely nothing to scoff at. His hair was black and silky, and his eyes were so enchantingly blue (as were many of his brothers’ and Conner’s, if she was being honest, but his were her favourites) and she couldn't help but just drown in them. He genuinely liked her designs (he says he loves them, her mind not so helpfully reminded her, because that made it even better and even harder to let go of him if the need be), he wasn’t pretending to do so because they were soulmates. Tim also had such great ideas for new clothing sometimes — he had been a massive help with the design for her latest dress that she was planning on making for the up-coming Wayne Gala where he (and the rest of the family) had invited her.
Yeah, and Tim knew how to paint nails a little too well. Marinette was certainly going to use that little fact to her advantage and have him do her nails at some point.
Marinette also truly enjoyed spending time with his family and him. All of them respected her at least on some level (gave her the basic respect Jagged had taught everyone was supposed to give her automatically unless she actually did something to warrant them to lose said respect) and didn't try to have her bake or design clothes for them or have her do their chores they were supposed to do because they wanted a little more time to themselves — especially not for free. Never for free. And, even if they did ask her to do something for them (usually it was Jay or Dick doing so), they never failed to remind her she could say no and that depending on what they asked her to do they’d compensate it to her as soon as possible in whatever form she wanted — whether that be money or new fabric or favours or them helping her the next time she baked something.
They didn’t take her for granted, and that was freeing.
She was genuinely happy to spend time with them. Their presence, especially Tim’s, was comforting to her, with him it was safe for her to just be herself.
Yeah, she was too far gone for one Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne and definitely did not want to lose him. She could only hope she was someone Tim could be himself with as well.
Honestly, her biggest problem with all and any of this was that Tim was a civilian and in case someone found out he was close to her, it would be no good for him to know. If the threat was magical, there was no way he could fight it off even if he was anything like his brothers when it came to fighting (she just didn’t know, but she did suspect he was). She herself could get out of problematic situations rather easily, but there was no telling just how bad situation could get until Tim would no longer have any way to get away. She figured he had to have at least some kind of basic training because so many in his family seemed to know martial arts, he lived in Gotham and was a CEO, but she had no idea to what extent he could protect himself.
And indeed, because the miraculous considered her an adult now and she no longer had a time limit after she used her special ability (whatever it was depending on the miraculous), it meant there was no way she would even consider stopping. Of course, she still tried not to push too far after she did use that ability as to not exhaust the kwami she was using too much and she’d made it her point to wear multiple miraculouses at once at all times so even if she had to detransform to let one kwami rest, she wouldn’t need to stop fighting right away or wait until they recharged.
In a city like Gotham where she could be needed, this all meant she could not stop being a hero. (Though, she knew that Batman wasn’t known for being too fond of magic users, or metas, whatever it was they called them, so she would need to have him somehow accept her presence or prepare to fight him and perhaps also all of his team that seemed to actually be his family — especially Robin seemed to still be a little child, younger than her when she received her miraculous.) Not since they had seemed to decide they were going nowhere from there, most of all not Paris.
They were never going to return, they really didn’t want to do so, what with the entire city being full of traumatic memories to them. Maybe they’d visit Kagami and Luka and her parents, maybe his aunt and cousin, but otherwise, no. Besides, their soulmates were both here, they had hardly any people they had good relationships with in Paris anymore because they’d both eventually stood up to their class, Gabriel was in prison — which, in turn, meant that the majority of Paris blamed Papillon’s actions on Adrien at least on some level. It didn’t matter to them that he had said that no, he had nothing to do with his father’s actions, and that his father actually abused him and he was glad to be finally free from him.
It wasn’t like they didn’t have a list of excuses to stay.
(Marinette wasn’t going to admit it any time soon, but she had an actual list of the excuses to stay written down in case someone asked her and her brain wouldn’t agree on cooperating at that time. It was also partly in case she ended up mentioning there were many, many, many reasons for them to stay and someone asked for a list; This way she could literally provide them with one. It was both on multiple papers and notebooks and on her phone — after all, back-up copies were very useful.)
Yet another reason as to why she should tell Tim — even though her Miraculous Cure healed and restored almost anything, it had mostly stopped working on her as it drew its energy from both her and Tikki, and now she was full of scars. Sure, it mostly healed the biggest injuries so she was rarely limping or bleeding long, and they never became devastating, but well. It still wasn’t any good that she had to keep covering some of the scars behind layers of makeup or hide them under clothing. Thank kwami Adrien had yet to report the same was happening to him.
There was no way Tim wouldn’t discover the scars’ existence at some point, regardless of whether their soulbond was romantic or platonic (although she certainly hoped it was romantic), so it would be far better to just come clean about it before he eventually found out about them on his own anyway.
So yeah.
She also had a long list of very good reasons to tell Tim.
The problem here was, she had no idea how.
She could hardly just walk up to him and blurt out she was Ladybug when it had just been announced that Ladybug (and Chat Noir at that, but it was up to Adrien to decide whether he wanted to tell his identity to anyone aside from Bart — he likely wanted to tell him) were dead, she would have to come up with a better plan to that. A lot better plan.
But perhaps… perhaps if she presented him with a miraculous and asked him to fight alongside her and Adrien… Maybe Bart could be there as well if Adrien considered it a good idea?
“Hey, Adrien, what do you think? Would Tim be a good miraculous user? And how about Bart?” she asked. Fiddling with the mouse necklace she was wearing, Marinette turned to look at Adrien who had, at some point, left from her side. Mullo was sleeping somewhere inside her hood. “They both seem like people that would like to help others if they could — I mean, Tim already tries as a CEO and I simply don’t know Bart that well yet — but I don’t know. I want to hear your opinion on this as well because even if I am now the guardian and could technically just do whatever the hell I wanted, you’re still my partner in crime… fighting, and since some of my previous choices weren’t too good…”
Yeah, she did mean Alya and Nino. Also others, but those she’d trusted the most, so…
“Are you seriously asking me if I’d like to have both our soulmates by our side if— no, when we are fighting possibly magic-based crime in Gotham or elsewhere in the States?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest. She nodded slowly. Adrien arched an eyebrow as he looked at her like she had made the stupidest question he had ever heard in his life before. “Duh, obviously, of course I want them there. Bart would be good. He’s so fast already — no, seriously, I swear, he’s quicker at doing things than Plagg is at eating camembert —, he’s a quick thinker and okay, he’s a little impulsive, but most of the time his ideas haven’t been that horrible, so a miraculous could probably enhance all of it in a good way.”
“And Tim’s got a good sense of justice and he’s one of the smartest people I’ve met. He’d be great at any strategic positions and— you know, I think he could work either the snake or the dragon miraculous really well.”
Adrien nodded enthusiastically. “Now you’re talking my language. Mayhaps the fox miraculous would be good for Bart, he’d get to be creative and I’m sure if he got up to any mischief, Trixx would only be more than happy to help. Or maybe the horse— actually, no, forget about that, I don’t think that’s a good idea because he might get the idea to send us all to anywhere in the world because it seemed like a good idea to him for all of two seconds and that’s the one thing that would make everything really problematic.” Adrien sunk into his thought for a moment, tapping his nose with his finger absent-mindedly as he tried to think of something else. Then his eyes brightened as he came up with an idea.
“Oh, the turtle! He’s quick so it wouldn’t take him long to protect those in need of it, and maybe in some moments when he’s too impulsive, Wayzz could be there as a voice of reason and common sense in his head. I don’t actually mind his impulsiveness at all but sometimes all of us could use a Wayzz to help us slow down a little.”
Wayzz himself looked torn between agreeing, and strongly disagreeing and escaping before Adrien could convince Marinette to give him to Bart.
“I’m seriously considering this now. I have no idea how to give them one, though. It isn’t as simple as it would have been in Papillon’s Paris — we don’t have a Miraculous threat here and no one knows us. I mean, they’ve probably heard of the deceased Ladybug and Chat Noir, but not the ones we’re going to become. We can hardly just swing up to them and be like “hey have you ever wanted to be a hero? Well, here’s a miraculous that will transform you into a magical superhero with the help of jewellery and a god like in some anime—” God damn it Adrien, now I consider transforming into LB the same kind of thing as your anime’s girls with objects to make them magically transform.”
“They’re magical girls, actually. And well, I have to say, we kind of are magical girls, you know. Magical transformation, magic, magic provided superpowers, magical healing, double lives, way too obvious costumes for anyone to not figure out our identity yet none of them do it anyway… Oh, and we have specific words to transform us along with magical accessories or jewellery and we have a literal transformation choreography! Clearly magical girls!”
“Magical girls, then, whatever. Never compare us to them again.”
Adrien just snickered.
“Ugh, shut up, will you?”
“Of course. But yeah, you’re right, we can’t just appear behind their windows and give them a miraculous. That would be just stupid and irresponsible, now wouldn’t it?”
“Why do you sound so sarcastic?”
“That might be because I kind of am.”
“Go away.”
She had no idea how she could still stand Adrien. Why was he her best friend again?
Oh yeah.
Because he was the one who had stood right there by her side through thick and thin.
That’s why.
⬷۵⤐
“So. Let me get this straight—”
“In this family?”
“Shut up, Jaybird. So, what you’re saying is, you want to reveal us all to your girlfriend because you don’t want to keep secrets this big from her?”
Tim sighed and ran a hand down his face, exasperated. Hadn’t he just explained this? “No, Dick, first of all, she’s not my girlfriend — at least yet. What I’m asking is if it’s okay to everyone I tell her I’m Red Robin and get her to start training so she can become a vigilante as well. She’d be good at it. I don’t want to keep my identity from her in case we do start dating because then what if she thinks I’m cheating on her or up to some other not-good stuff when I keep sneaking out in the middle of the night and can’t even tell her what for.”
“And why do you want her to be a vigilante? You know it’s dangerous.”
“Then why is any of us doing it? It would anyway be her choice. Besides, if she was fighting beside me, she wouldn’t even need to worry about me that much because she could technically probably see me and not have to stay at home, you know? I know I can see there’s something in her that reminds me a lot of most of us, the need to fight for justice and for those in need of help because no one else does either. I can see the crave to fight in her.”
Dick sighed and tilted his head, his expression hard as steel. “You really thought this through, didn’t you?”
“Obviously. And as to why I’m asking you is because she’s actually smart and would definitely put two and two together when I tell her I’m Red Robin; The likeliness of Robin, Red Robin, Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood — yes, Jason, you too, have you seen the giant red bat on your chest you insist on wearing even though you claim to detest us half the time because we all can see it —, Black Bat, the Signal and the rest of us being close with each other, if not family, is quite high. Basically, she would most likely connect you all to the vigilantes running around.”
Bruce crossed his arms over his chest and shot him the Batdad-Look™, and if he hadn’t been so determined to get them to agree, it would have probably made him a… little too nervous to keep on talking. Alas, it wasn’t going to make him stop because he really, really wanted Marinette to fight beside him and if it meant he needed to bear with Bruce’s Batdad-Looks™, then so be it. He was not about to go down without first putting up a fight.
Tim couldn’t even explain how grateful he was for the fact Bruce stayed quiet despite the expression on his face. It helped his situation a little.
Instead, it did not help that he could feel Cass’ eyes on his back. She was sitting on the ground a small distance away from them, probably reading all of them like they were open books. He decided to ignore it for now — there was really nothing else he could do.
“And you know she’s a good fighter — you saw her spar with Jason! You saw how she fought against Damian who actually, officially challenged her, like she were equal. He doesn’t do that too often. We all also know neither of them wasn’t holding back too much on second matched anymore, if at all in the in the third one. She only lost once they stopped holding back and even then she put up a good fight — the matches weren’t over in minutes. Like, we’ve all gotten training from at least the Bat himself, likely from many others too. She has not. That makes it an impressive feat. With training, she could probably be one of the best of us!”
Steph lifted her hands above her head as to surrender and to draw attention to herself. “Alright, I’m cool with it. Timmy’s passionate about his cause and also I like Mari. It could be fun to have her in the team.”
Thank goodness, at least someone was on his side.
Dick’s phone chimes and he looks at the message, groaning when he reads it. “Babs told me to tell you all that she also says yes, that she trusts Marinette with all of this if others are fine with it as well,” he says slowly, before he puts his phone away. It’s strange seeing him not cheerful, but Tim can’t afford to care about it too much now .
Another voice spoke up softly. “I think… Marinette makes a good fighter,” Cass said from her spot, resting her body weight on her arms with the flats of her palms on the ground. She seemed thoughtful. Her words carried a meaning all of them understood, even if she didn’t say it out loud — she liked her too and wanted her in, but that she too would like Marinette to get some training first before letting her out.
Just in case.
They knew she wanted to lose people just as much as the rest of them — which meant, she didn't want to lose any more people she cared about.
Then, a sigh. “Yeah, gotta agree. Could be nice to have her on our side, she’s fun. And Timber’s right, she does seem like she’s achin’ to go fight a bitch. It’d be better if we made sure she’s got the necessary skills and stuff, and I’d rather not have to fight her because one of us considers her an enemy or because she thinks that of us. Girl’s got some mad skills. Also, B, if you think about it for a second longer, I’m sure you’d realise that if there’s a chance she is going out anyway, I’m sure you’d prefer she followed your rules, too, right?”
Tim… wasn’t sure when the last time he’d been grateful for Jason’s input had last occurred, but he was certainly ready to let Jason do whatever the hell he wanted with criminals during their next patrol together, that’s how grateful he was. Yes, even if it meant Jason shooting them in the fucking kneecaps.
“Yes, but she’s still—”
“She’s what, Grayson? She put up a respectable fight even thought she’s still clearly inferior to me, but I do not doubt she could do the same in the field. Her skills most certainly require improvement and bettering, and she needs to fine her techniques if she wants to hold her own out there without getting killed, but I’m certain she’s more than capable of getting to Todd’s level with guidance.”
Okay, wow. Damian was defending Marinette. He definitely needed to tell this to her — he was sure she’s appreciate hearing the little demon of the family respected her enough to speak up against Dick and his father, the only ones of them he’d ever openly admitted held his respect, even if he didn’t necessarily word it as “I respect you” or “you have my respect.” It seemed Marinette got the honor of being the third one, and she had been family for all of some weeks. She’d even gotten him to use the word “respectable” when talking about her.
She got him admitting to all of them, all of them, that he thought she was good and worth his respect. Now that was something.
So, Tim also appreciated him speaking up. This tiny (alright so he may not have been that tiny anymore and there’s a chance Damian was now taller than Tim, but who cared, he would always be tiny to Tim) teenager was still the only biological child of Bruce and also one of the hardest of them to impress, so if he said something of this sort about anyone (the last time it was something about Jon but Tim hadn’t cared enough to remember what it actually was about anymore), everyone would at least listen to him before simply jumping to decisions.
So yeah. If there ever was a time Tim wanted nothing more than to take his little brother out and let him find a few new animals to keep as pets, even if they weren’t good as pets, it was now. It certainly was now.
“I’m siding with Tim here — don’t give me that look, Dick, the ones already sided with him are scarier and more dangerous than you and Bruce together, so even if I didn’t agree, his side would be the wiser choice—”, Duke starts, shrugging, though there was a clear smile on his face. “But like, Marinette’s nice, like actually nice, and if she’s going to become family anyway, I don’t see why we couldn’t have her in this as well. Tim has a good point — several good points, actually, so the logic is also on his side.”
Yeah, Tim certainly couldn’t hide his smile any longer. Only Dick and Bruce were yet to say yes. Maybe he could actually do this.
Of course, he was not going to go through with any of this if all of them didn’t agree. He could risk his own identity to his soulmate, but there was no way he was going to force anyone else to do so for anyone, least of all for someone that wasn’t literally linked to them by their very soul. He would never compromise all of them for one person.
“Okay, fine. It seems everyone else is saying yes, so I guess I’m outvoted here. I just want every one of you to stay safe, you know? I don’t want this to end up being the reason any of you gets hurt.”
Yes, Tim knew that. Regardless of how annoying Dick managed to get a lot of the time, or how frustratingly stubborn he always was, or how his attitude was irritatingly similar to Bruce’s even when their personalities weren’t even remotely similar most of the time (that one was probably causation of Bruce taking care of Dick for like a decade), there was never any doubt his love or concern for any of them wasn’t genuine. That much was more than obvious.
He managed to give Dick a small smile, hoping it would convey he was grateful he finally said yes.
Now there was only one left to convince.
The most difficult of them (if you didn’t count Damian in, anyway) to convert.
Bruce was stubborn as hell when he wanted to, but seeing as he was stubborn even if he wasn’t trying to be, this could either be easy or the most difficult thing Tim had ever done. It had taken him a while to convince Bruce to make him Robin, but back then all he was trying was to have him take himself in and train him; Back then Tim wasn’t planning on telling his identity to someone who didn’t know yet, someone who could figure out the rest of them as well, and then have her trained to become one of them. Tim knew it, it was a lot to ask, but he wanted to do it anyway. It was important to him, alright?
Tim turned to look at Bruce. “Well? How is it?” He placed his hands on his hips and tilted his head, waiting for an answer. Any answer, really.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea, Tim. What if something happens to her? Or what if something happens to you? Or any of your siblings?”
“But what if something happens to her because I didn’t tell her? And besides, something could happen to any of us at any given time, given what we all do on nightly basis. We could have also just not done it, but we are doing it anyway and like hell is any of us going to just quit. Out world is full of what-ifs, we cannot help them, and I’ll be damned if I let them make me lose the one person actually made for me, the one person that I was tailored to.”
“With all due respect, Master Bruce, I must say, you have told your identity — even if only subtly hinted at it with a very specific set of words so that it’s enough for them to make the connection — so many times that I think you can hardly be against this. None of them were even your soulmate. Need I remind you of who everyone knew or found out without ever even becoming one of us? At least Master Tim is planning on bringing her in on all of this and planning to have her properly trained,” Alfred said, appearing in the doorway behind Bruce.
So sure, Cass and Damian knew exactly how to seemingly just appear and reappear without anyone noticing as though they could teleport, sure, Commissioner Gordon always complained about Batman doing it, and sure, the rest of them knew how to blend in with the shadows (they just didn’t always do it), but Alfred also seemed to possess this skill — better than most of them, anyway. Tim had absolutely no idea how, but he wasn’t about to complain.
Besides, it was Alfred, so it wasn’t surprising. Honestly, was there anything the man couldn’t do?
But the thing is, Alfred was also right. He had let Rachel Dawes find out. He let commissioner Gordon find out. Mr. Fox knew because Bruce had asked for help and equipment he then used as Batman while he was being Bruce Wayne — now that right there had never even seen subtle hinting. A whole lot of other people knew as well, though many had found out on their own — such as Tim, while some found out because of other, not so lovely circumstances, like Selina.
So, all in all, Bruce was the worst of them to say anything about it. True, he was mostly protective of them, always thinking up the worst-case scenarios about everything, something Tim himself did as well because that was the easiest way to make sure they were prepared for absolutely anything and everything, but Tim trusted Marinette. He wanted to trust her, just like Bruce had trusted some people. And in any case, he’d rather trust than live his life in suspicion of most people, like some people he knew did. Like Bruce.
Bruce opened his mouth to say something, but as nothing came out, he just closed it again. A defeated sigh slipped past his lips and he let go of the tensity in his shoulders, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Fine, I can see when I’ve lost. I want to meet her soon after you tell her, maybe right away after it, though, regardless of whether she makes the connection or not. I would prefer if all of you were here then,” he said, motioning at all of them before he placed his hand on Tim’s shoulder. “And that you—” he cast a pointed look at Tim, “—tell us when you are going to do it. I trust that you understand what you’re doing. I do not want to find out Ms. Dupain-Cheng is a danger to any of you, but especially you.”
“Of course. I take full responsibility of her and her training—”
“No you won’t. I’ll do that, although I do expect you to be there for her and to be a major help. I’m still your father and I don’t care if you’re already 19, because I’m not letting my children be that much of adults just yet.”
“Hey!”
Bruce just smiled (a tense smile, one that was half-forced on his face) and left all of them (except Cass whom Tim couldn’t see anywhere anymore) behind, gaping.
“Did he just—”
“Oh my god he totally did!”
“Please tell me someone recorded B calling himself a father and calling us his children.”
Tim had a vague suspicion that Cass had indeed recorded it, was going to send it to all of them, and then, depending on the reactions to it, would send a voice message of her laughing to their group chat.
Well, that definitely went better than he thought.
⬷۵⤐
“You know, I’m glad I have you as my soulmate,” Marinette began around a week later as they were sitting in the living room of the Wayne Manor. She snuggled closer to him and Tim wrapped an arm around her, comfortable and relaxed for the first time in a few days. “I’ve known you for not that long, but I already know I don’t want to lose you.”
She reached for his hand and took it in her own. Tim squeezed her hand back.
“Me neither.” Tim saw this as an opening — after all, most, if not all, of his reasons to tell Marinette who he was and all his plans about how exactly he should do it were born from the idea that he didn’t want to lose her. And so, he stood up, still holding her hand, and pressed a light kiss on it. “I need to show you something important. Will you follow me?”
A soft laughed escaped from Marinette as she replied, smiling, “Always, to the ends of the world.”
Marinette let herself be pulled up to her feet and led through the endless dark hallways of the manor. He quickly shot a message (“I’m prepared to do it, I’m taking her down now. Be there in five”) to the group chat before putting his phone away. When it vibrates in his pocket, he first looked at Marinette as though to make sure it was fine with her if he checked and possibly answered — after all, he knew it wasn’t too urgent or they would have called, and as far as Marinette was aware, this was supposed to be their time together to get to know each other better and all, not time for either of them to spend talking to other people via phone —, the corners of his lips turning upwards at her when she nodded with a smile on her face.
It seemed smiles liked to creep up on his face a lot more now that Marinette was around.
The message was from Jason, and Tim rolled his eyes fondly at it.
I thought you were supposed to tell her instead of fighting her, babybird.
shut up jason
You know pwefectly well what taking her down means int his case
Oh yes, I most definitely do.
It’s just so much fun reminding you of the existence of double meanings you either use to insult people or forget about completely.
But yeah, we’ll be ready.
“One of your brothers?”
“Yep. Jason is being a cumberworld.”
“And him being a cumberworld definitely makes you grin and roll your eyes as though he merely made a stupid joke and you, unfortunately, thought it rather amusing. Got it.”
“Wait. You actually know what it means?”
“Duh, obviously. After listening to you and your family for a while, it seemed like a good idea to do some research on different English insults so they wouldn’t fly by me all the time.”
Tim snorted. Of course. Only Marinette would. Only her. Everyone else outside of their family seemed to give up on trying to understand after a little while, but noooo, this girl decided she was going to spend extra time doing some research just to be able to understand — that, and also most likely to be able to laugh at them. She definitely fit in just fine.
It didn’t take them too long after that to get to the main study in the manor that Tim had earlier told her was Bruce’s and told her not to go in. Maybe that was why Marinette now looked quite nervous and anxious as he unlocked the door and pushed it open, motioning for her to go in.
“Are you sure we can go in here? Mr Wayne— I mean, Bruce, isn’t going to get mad at us? And you aren’t about to kill me, right?” she laughed, trying to mask her nervousness with humour, but walked in anyway. She relaxed a little and the tensity in her shoulders slipped away the slightest bit as Tim shook his head as no.
He walked to the grandfather clock in the room and let go of Marinette’s hand in order to be able to turn the hands of the clock. The clock hit 10:48 (Tim had always thought there was no one more grim than the Batman but then he actually met Bruce Wayne and found out you needed to turn the clock to show the time Bruce’s parents had been murdered, and was just like that forced to change his view on the matter) and the panel unlocked, opening the door hidden from view behind the clock.
Marinette’s jaw dropped open. This was most certainly not what she had been expecting, that much was sure.
“Well then, my fair lady, shall we enter?” he asked, grinning at Marinette’s flabbergasted expression even as she walked closer and tried to figure out where the entrance would take them.
She could keep trying; he was not about to tell her just yet.
The elevator took them down and soon enough, they were in the cave. He stepped out of the doors and waited for Marinette to follow him.
“...Where are we?” she asked, her voice a little strained.
“Uh.”
“Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne, where in the world exactly did you take me?”
It seemed actually telling her turned out a little more difficult than he thought. Well, no use crying now — he couldn’t just brush off all of this like he hadn’t just taken his soulmate down to the Batcave either.
“Alright. So, this might come as a shock and for the love of all that’s still holy and sacred in this world please do not freak out. I just decided I needed to tell you this before we consider pursuing any relationship on a deeper and closer level than what we have now, regardless of in what sense it would be.
Marinette nodded slowly, encouraging him to go on even as she seemed suspicious (and anxious) about what was going on. Perhaps that was a good thing since they were in Gotham, in the city where you never knew who the person in front of you was or what they did in their free time (or at night).
Tim took a deep breath before dropping the bomb on her. “I am Red Robin, one of the vigilantes of Gotham.”
At his declaration, her jaw dropped. Again. “You— I— What?”
“I’m Red Robin,” he repeated and pulled out the domino mask he had taken with him and slipped into his pocket, putting it on his face. Thank heavens for Marinette and her need to give him big pockets whenever he commissioned her (and there was any reason to put pockets to said commissioned clothing) because of that one offhand comment complaining about too small pockets some of his clothes had. He scratched his chin awkwardly before realising what he was doing and pulled his hand down, pressing his nails to his skin to keep himself from bringing it up again. “I was also thinking, you’d make a good vigilante if that’s what you wanted to do. Obviously, I would need to train you first to make sure you’d be ready for Gotham’s streets, but I thought it could help you not to worry about me if you saw me in action and actually had the chance to help me if necessary?”
That… wasn’t supposed to come out as a question. Why did it come out as one?
But Marinette’s silence was worrying him. It would be understandable not to get an answer now, but he knew her well enough by now to know that she would be mindlessly rambling at this point if it were merely shock she was experiencing.
“You… You aren’t a villain or planning on becoming one, right? Because even if you were my soulmate, that would mean I’d have to take you down.” Almost certain he could feel Dick’s pointed (and amused, definitely amused) look on his back, he added, “I’m not about to go down the Batman-Catwoman route with this.”
That startled Marinette out of her shock and as she stared him dead in the eye, she blurted out, “Spots on!”
Tim could have almost sworn he heard an exasperated and quiet “Marinette, why couldn't you just tell him like we agreed?” as bright pink light enveloped her and soon revealed that in her place there stood a young woman in a red suit with black spots.
And a spotted mask.
Which made it a ladybug suit.
Or the Ladybug suit.
On his soulmate that came from Paris.
Paris’ Ladybug…
“Oh my god. You’re Ladybug. My soulmate is Ladybug. This is a thing now, apparently. Aren’t you supposed to be dead? Actually, no, I’ve seen enough people that were resurrected, it wouldn’t even be that surprising. How were you—”
Ladybug’s shoulders lifted to her ears and she smiled sheepishly. “Hi? I’m not a villain as you can see?”
It was Tim’s turn to simply stare at Marinette. He— he was not expecting this turn of events. He sighed and waved his hand a little in a “come here” gesture, knowing they were there and that they’d seen her transform anyway. That would mean there was no secret identity problem anymore as her identity wasn’t really a secret anymore, per se. Besides, since she was a hero already, they could very well just introduce themselves to her already.
He had to admit, this was absolutely wonderful as it meant she fit in perfectly — it was as though she had always been the missing piece of the puzzle that was his life and family.
Of course, though he was expecting fate to be a jerk and give him a civilian soulmate, Fate instead decided to cut him some slack and just give him someone that could actually keep up with him and the family he wasn’t going to get rid of anyway, no matter what he tried or wanted (not that he wanted to get rid of them most of the time).
But well. A soulmate was supposed to suit you perfectly, so maybe it wasn’t that surprising.
Ladybug didn’t seem to notice his family approaching them as she kept on rambling and tried to explain herself. “I’m also not dead and never was. Chat Noir isn’t dead either though he has died multiple times during akuma attacks and was resurrected by my Miraculous Cure. Paris just happens to have a tendency to get overdramatic and jump to conclusions, and Chaton and I decided we didn’t want the Ladyblogger on our backs any longer. Neither of us is too fond of her, especially not after the phenomenon that is Lila Rossi,” she said, sighing as she cocked her hip. Ladybug shook her head and turned her eyes to the side. It seemed the name meant a lot, just not in any good way. “Wait. If you’re Red Robin, then—”
“Hiii!”
Aaandd it seemed that Dick had taken that as his cue to make his presence known. How lovely.
Ladybug turned to Dick and then back to Tim, arching an eyebrow. “Since you’re Red Robin, I’m going to go ahead and suppose this is your family. Am I right?”
“Yeah, unfortunately.”
“They’re not going to try and fight me or drive me out of your city for having powers, right?”
Batgirl cuffed him upside the head as she skipped to them, walked past Tim and then looked Ladybug up and down before nodding approvingly. “Definitely approve, though that suit… Am I seriously supposed to believe you’re our sweet, wonderful, talented fashion designer? Also no, even if B-Man or Dickiebird over there tried, Timmers, Damian and I would fight for you. You’re staying because I like you. We all like you.”
Ladybug flushed lightly at the compliments and the otherwise sweet words, but to her credit, her voice didn’t even waver when she replied (unlike usually), “I just haven’t had the energy and time to change it yet. It’s magic, can’t change it that easily.”
“Oh, okay. Well, try and see if you can recognise all of us!”
Ladybug bit her lip and looked at each and every one of them separately, her calculating eyes feeling like they could see right through all of them. She walked between them and around them, a sly grin appearing on her face.
“Well, Bats here is probably Mr Wayne. He’s the oldest of all and I strongly doubt any of you could be doing what you are if he didn’t know — unless, of course, it was Alfred, and I don’t doubt Alfred’s skills at all, but I’m pretty sure that back when Robin wasn’t there yet, someone needed to look after Batman and I honestly think only Alfred could have that much power on him. So. Mr Wayne.”
Batman took off his cowl, indeed revealing Bruce himself.
As she moved on to Nightwing, she winked and laughed with an “I did do my homework on the flight here. Seriously, did you think I wouldn’t?” Then she turned to look Nightwing in the eye (or, would have looked him in the eye if not for his domino. “I’m going to say Dick. I’ve been watching you all while I’ve been here — in both forms, it seems —, and I doubt any of you could pull some of the moves, or the attitude, Nightwing does, except for Dick. Don’t give me that look, you did jump from the balcony at some point last week, landing safely on the ground after showing off and doing like a million spins and somersaults.”
Tim laughed. “Dick, I told you, someone else besides me was going to recognise you for your somersaults one day.”
“You too?”
“Oh yeah, I worked out Dick’s, Bruce’s and then Jason’s original identities because of Dick’s quadruple-somersault when I was a kid. Nightwing’s identity wasn’t difficult either since, well, it was obviously the previous Robin.”
“Of course you would.”
Then she turned to Oracle in her wheelchair. “Anyway. I know you’re Barbara, and I’m so glad to see you here too, but I’m nor sure about you alias,” she said, her voice clearly apologetic for the fact.
“It’s alright,” Barbara comforted her and gave her a smile, “I wasn’t expecting you to know it. I’m Oracle, it’s nice to meet you. I’ll probably get you on the comms at some point as well because managing things is what I do now. The woman in the chair, if you will,” she continued, making Marinette chuckle. Tim loved the sound.
“Then the big bad Red Helmet over there is Jason — no, seriously, Jay, why in the world are you the Red Hood if you aren’t even wearing one?” she asked, her face twisting as she looked at him. God, Tim loved this girl, she would happily stab any of their fashion sense with a smile on her face, and honestly, the helmet was horrible. Her words earned her snickers from all around the room. She was obviously pleased with herself as Jason took off his mask and gaped at her, offended.
She didn’t even pay him attention too much, continuing on with her list. “The scowling Robin over there is definitely Damian, only he could pull off those expression with a hint of Bat in them, and the current Batgirl is obviously Stephanie. Duke is the Signal — that was your name, right? Oh, and Cass, you’re Black Bat, aren’t you?” At Cass’ nod and her revealing her face, Marinette let out a sigh of relief. “You’re one of the only ones here with an acceptable suit.”
Ladybug transformed back into Marinette, a small creature appearing from her… earrings? before hiding inside her jacket. Tim decided to ignore it, maybe it was nothing. Marinette turned around, spinning on her heel to face Bruce. “Like, I know you need protection because there’s no magic to do so, but you could have protection with suits that looked less ridiculous and atrocious than this,” she said, motioning at their clothing. “That actually goes to most of you. I especially hope there’s a really good reason and a story behind Robin’s colours, because otherwise I will not possibly be able to understand why anyone would go around as a vigilante in colours this bright.”
“There is a reason behind the color choices,” Dick said disturbingly quietly from where he was standing. “They were my family’s colors.”
Marinette winced lightly — she too knew what had happened to them on that fateful night. “Alright. That’s a good reason, even if they’re still horrible colour choices. That would make you the first Robin, right?” Dick nodded. “It’s understandable for you to want to use your family’s colours.” Her solemn tone indicated she accepted Dick’s reason for it completely, telling them all she felt bad for saying they were horrible but knew she wouldn’t back off — and they wouldn’t blame her for that either —, and they all knew she was going to leave arguing and pressing for explanations away completely. Her limitless capability of empathy was admirable.
Then she turned back to Tim. “Is that offer about training still on the table? I’d love to take it if so. I could probably win any of you as Ladybug because magic and a goddess in my pocket, also known as Tikki— Oh, actually! Tikki, come on out, come say hi to Tim!”
A small red, ladybug-like creature flew from under her jacket to Tim, smiling brightly. He immediately recognised it as the fairy he’s seen earlier. “Hi! I’m Tikki, the goddess — or as we like to call ourselves, the kwami — of creation. It’s lovely to finally meet my holder’s soulmate!”
“It’s, uh, nice to meet you as well, I guess? I take it you’re the one that helps Marinette transform,” Tim said, a little confused by the flying, speaking creature.
“Yup, I’m an ancient being, older than anything and everything else, so while she’s not the only one I’ve helped — the history is full of Ladybugs —, she’s my current holder. Remember that if you hurt her, while Adrien can do a lot of destruction and damage —” there seemed to be a double meaning behind those words but he just couldn’t figure out what it was. “—I will be the one you actually want to look out for!”
Tikki’s words were single handedly the single most terrifying thing Tim had ever heard, and it did not help at all that she was smiling all through it, her voice gentle and kind, her entire demeanour bright even when she was threatening him. He didn’t even want to know what a goddess of creation could do as retaliation.
“If I hurt her, I’d let you do whatever you wanted,” Tim finally heard himself say. Those words were surprisingly true and ran deep, he realised. It… should honestly have been alarming. It was not.
“Good, you understood quickly. This one’s good, let’s keep him.” Tikki patted his head — and such a weird image it must have been, a creature maybe the size of his hand patting his head —, bringing Tim comfort for some reason. He had absolutely no idea how she managed it, being terrifying and so sweet and safe at the same time. He could totally see where Marinette got it from. “Also, some of you have definitely been in close — too close — touch with the Lazarus Pit, this place reeks of it. Marinette, tell me, why haven’t we already taken Plagg with us to the Lazarus Pit and gotten rid of it for good?”
Marinette shrugged, unaware of what was happening in the background behind her — Jason gaping, Bruce in shock, Damian just staring at them like he had seen a ghost, which was a rather disturbing picture because sometimes it seemed the boy could get fazed by nothing. The rest looked just confused. Maybe he should just leave them be and try to focus on Marinette and Tikki right now. “Jeez, Tikki, I have no idea. Maybe, maybe it’s because this has got to be the first time I hear about them and honestly, it should be more disturbing than it is that I, for some reason I don’t want to know, actually know what you’re talking about. Is that a guardian thing?”
Tikki nodded before speaking. “Well, we have to do it at some point. Let’s take the cat with us as well, I’m sure he’d prefer not to be left alone if we’re taking Plagg with us anyway. For now, though, I’m sure we can talk about it later.”
Tim shook his head, trying to concentrate. “Yeah, the offer is still on the table. I’d be happy to train you. You’d also get training from the Bat himself if you wanted — he actually insisted on it before this,” he laughed. “But yeah, I’ll be there anyway. Fun soulmate bonding and all that, right? Fighting, training and sparring until we can no longer stand on our own two feet, that’s all anyone could ever want,” he mused, odd warmth filling his chest as Marinette chuckled at his comment.
“Yes, you get it. Finally someone gets it — looking at you, Chat. Having said that, I do have to tell you it’s a little awkward and a huge coincidence you happened to ask me if I wanted to become a vigilante, as I was kind of going to ask you the same.”
“Huh?”
“You just beat me to revealing your identity and asking. I was wondering if you’d like to try using a miraculous, you know? It’s so much fun unless you’re trying to save an entire city that’s flooding and your partner is not doing what he’s supposed to and you have maybe five minutes left after you use your special ability but other than that, it’s great. I know you sometimes get even magical threats here, and I’m sure you’d rather be able to deal with them yourself instead of having to get the magic users not from here involved every single time since it’s your city. Also, since I’m not going to quit being Ladybug, and I will be out there doing my thing, I’d like to have my soulmate in the team sometimes as well, by my side. Obviously, you can refuse, but like, I could see you being a good snake. Sass would like you.”
Tikki nodded, clearly agreeing with Marinette. He knew better than to ask if they realised what sass meant, or to tell them that he was already familiar with sass, since it was probable this Sass was one of the Kwamies. Kwamiis. Kwamii? He had no idea.
Then she turned around to face the others whose attention — all of it — went immediately to her when she focused hers at them. “It could also be fun to see how any of you work with a miraculous once I get to know you better and know which kwamii would fit to each of you — I do have quite many of them travelling with me, after all,” she said, and the smile playing on her lips was easy to hear from her words. Come the next words (and the jab at most of them), Tim also knew for sure there was a mischievous glint dancing in her eyes. “That, and the kwamii come up with alright costumes most of the time even if you have no idea how to design a good one yourself. The suits are much safer than yours, too, because again, magic . And god-given powers, quite literally.”
The little fairy — kwami, wasn’t it? ... she. Something. — settled herself on Marinette’s head while Marinette took out a small box from her purse, opening it. A bright light with a yellowish or orange hue appeared in front of her as another one of the kwamii took form. Marinette put on a necklace that looked like a fox’s tail, which honestly looked logical as it resembled the kwami as well — if they had something to do with each other, that is.
“Heya Marinette! What is it today? Ooohhh, there are more people to mess with today! The cat isn’t here, I see… Wait, is this the soulmate thing you and Chat discussed? Is one of them your soulmate? Do I actually get to meet him before any of the others do?” The fox looking kwami seemed excited and it was a little bothersome to realise how much the kwami reminded him of Bart. They would probably get along, if they ever got the chance to meet. Probably not.
“Well, Tikki met him already, but yes, you’ll get to gloat about this to Plagg, Wayzz, Mullo, Longg and the others. Except for Duusu, that’s forbidden. She’s not in a good enough mental state for that yet. But anyway, Trixx, Tim is my soulmate, the one that’s probably standing right behind me right now unless he actually somehow managed to stay still even in the presence of something new he doesn’t understand just yet,” she said and pulled out two cookies, handing one to each kwamii present. Tim flushed as he realised she knew exactly where he was and why he was there.
Marinette didn’t pay any attention to any of them anymore, only the kwami in front of her.
“Besides, you complained about not having gotten to patrol in a long while last night and as it seems they don’t hate the idea of a miraculous user here, yet anyway — not that it would stop me, honestly, you guys need to get out and be used sometimes and as the guardian, it’s kind of my responsibility —, they might even let me patrol with them and thus give you a chance to go around. Chaton and Plagg won’t be there, though, and I’m not going to tell him about them, so keep your mouth shut. I know you love knowing things others don’t, but you don’t get to tell them because then you won’t be able to keep the knowledge of more heroes to yourself, and I’d honestly rather have Chat and Plagg only know I’ve told my soulmate now so he’s free to tell his. Also, they—”, she pointed at his family, “—Get to keep their secrets, so there’s that too.”
It felt a little too familiar to hear Marinette call someone Chaton, and it irritated Tim to no ends to know that he knew the one Marinette had called Chaton earlier by name, but yet could still only connect it to Chat Noir and Chat Noir only.
Trixx flew around Tim’s head a few times until deciding on landing on top of it. The kwami started to eat the cookie, still there on top of his head, damnit, leaving cookie crumbles in his hair. “Hello there, Marinette’s soulmate! You seem rather interesting. Are you going to be trying to use one of us? It’s going to be so much fun seeing what kind of a hero you could become with our help!”
But, just as Tim was about to answer, an alarm went off in the cave. They all knew it was a villain attack, and soon all of them got notifications of said attack to their phones, computers, tablets, clocks, anything they had promised to carry around everywhere for this specific thing. Tim groaned and ran a hand down his face.
Not now, we don’t have time for this.
Even so, Tim ran off to put on his suit. There was a big chance Marinette would be coming along since she was, apparently, already used to villains (even if quite different from theirs), and he wanted to be there to see it.
At least Trixx let him leave without following.
⬷۵⤐
Marinette watched in wonder as everyone got a move on the second the alarm went off. It was so different from Paris. She hoped the civilians had more basic common sense than Parisians did, too, and would try to escape the danger zone instead of trying to get into it.
Barbara went to get a small piece of technology before wheeling to her. She took Marinette’s hand and pressed it on her palm. “Here. This is a comm. I want you to wear it when you’re out in the field at all times so you’ll be able to contact everyone, me included, at any time you need. They can also contact you if they’re in need of help or something. That, and I’ll be able to locate you at any point I want or need to, so yes, you have to use it,” she told her, but Marinette gave it back. Under Barbara’s rather scary and very unimpressed glare, she decided to give in. After all, she was — even bound to a wheelchair — one of the scariest of them. She was also one of Marinette’s favourites in the family and would probably admit this to any of them at any given time, so she reasoned that played a part in her decision as well.
“Fine, I’ll take it, but I need to transform first or it will disappear, though I’m pretty sure I could actually connect my own, safer communicator to yours,” she said before stepping back. “You might want to close your eyes, the light can be blinding. Tikki, spots on!”
Once the bright light went away, she got ready to unify Trixx and Tikki together. It would take her a lot of energy, but the stealth abilities Trixx came with were useful, as were the illusions, especially in a city such as Gotham, and Tikki, well, Marinette knew how to work with her the best, and the Miraculous Cure Tikki provided was the best thing ever since it could repair anything and everything if she was involved in it with the miraculous (and better yet, no one would need to pay for said repairs.) “Tikki, Trixx, unify!”
“Alright, I’m done now. I can take the comm now if you so insist,” she said, opening her palm and waiting for Barbara to hand it to her again. “You can call me Lady Vixen for now until I come up with a better name, Oracle.”
Oracle smiled at her and dropped the comm on Lady Vixen’s palm. She put it on, adjusting it until it no longer felt uncomfortable in her ear. Red Robin had just finished suiting up by then as well, and with a grin on his face, he stepped to her side. He brushed over her wrist with his fingers and she did the same to him, because even with their suits covering up the skin of their wrists, it made them more comfortable, more at ease, more focused. Happier. They turned to look at the rest of the family, waiting for the go-ahead since she still needed one from at least Batman.
After Batman nodded to her and smiled (which honestly was not a smile and looked more like a grimace, like seriously, Mr Wayne needed some help with how to smile), Nightwing gave her a bright smile (like, an actual smile, unlike Batman’s) and said, “Welcome to the team!”
She didn't reply, she knew she didn’t need to, and decided that swinging off with her soulmate was going to be enough.
Yeah, she was happy to be a part of the team, a part of the family.
Especially if her soulmate was going to be there for her and stay at her side through all of it.

Miraculous New Jersey Special Part 2/3
1 /2 /3
Rewritten Masterlist
New Jersey Masterlist
"Well isn't this guy just precious?" Kon said staring down at Adrien from behind sunglasses making the blond more nervous by the second.
"Kon..." Kara said warningly arms crossed. "We promised dad some grilling too, and Biz, don't wanna make the big guy mad," Kara reminded Kon.
"Kara!" Jon said eyes wide at the thought of Biz using backward threats on his boyfriend.
"Oh come on, you know I'm just teasing, how's it been kiddo?" Kara said pulling Jon into a hug making the raven-haired teen let out a sigh of relief but she glared at Adrien over her cousin's head. A red head girl walked over to Kara smiling.
"Ready, we're going back to the hotel we're in charge," Barbara said smirking.
"This is going to be a nightmare," Damian said grabbing the handle of his suitcase pulling it by his side toward a bus.
"Oh cheer up kid, we're going to have a great time," Barabra said before noticing Marinette. "Hey you're Jon's cousin right?" she asked and Marinette nodded. "You're so adorable, this really isn't fair Kara, why are all of you so darn cute," Barabra complained to her blonde friend who rolled her eyes.
"Kansas charm darling," Kara said and Adrien blushed confusing Kara. " Something funny?" she asked with a smile.
"Jon says that all the time, I thought that was just a him thing," Adrien said laughing nervously.
"There's a lot more to our family than you know kiddo," Kara smirked walking to the bus screaming at kids along with Kon who just glared them on.
Marinette boarded the bus staring at Damian from her seat which Barbara immediately took notice of and nudged Kara.
"We have to get those two together," Barbara said and Kara tilted her head thinking before walking over to Jon.
"What is your opinion on Mari and Damian dating?" Kara asked and Jon bit his lip.
"I promised I wouldn't meddle, she's trying to get over him," Jon said and Kara laughed.
"Yeah, and she's failing hilariously, just leave it to us, we can get them together," Kara said and Adrien was staring at him confused as to what the Kents were discussing.
"Fine but Adrien can't know." Kara ruffled Jon's hair before running back to her seat.
"Let's make this fun," Kara said to Barbra rubbing her hands together.
"I can do fun, what about tomorrow at that museum they're supposed to go to?" Barbara asked pulling up the schedule on her phone.
"I can have something ready by then," Kara said and the bus stopped outside the hotel.
Damian took a deep breath before walking into his room which he would sadly be sharing with Nino, Adrien, and Jon trusting that the presence of Nino and himself could make Adrien and Jon behave for at least a week.
Gabriel had a plan. He had an evil plan that would help him get the miraculous of the eagle and no matter how much it hurt him to jeopardise his son's relationship with Jon he had more important things to worry about like getting his wife back. He would make a super Joker who would steal something for him causing a diversion to get him to the miraculous without heroes even noticing it's gone they would be too focused on something else.
"Ok so if we trap them in there together Damian will go into protective mode and feel the overwhelming need to save Marinette," Barbara started pacing around her room and Kara watched.
"They really need to feel like they're never going to see each other again, we might need more help," Kara said before banging on the wall next to them. Biz, Jason, Tim, and Kon stood at the door seconds later.
"You rang ever so politely?" Jason asked winking at Kara who shoved him.
"We're trying to get your little brother a date idiot, if you ever want to see him happy then please just do us this favor," Kara said before going into an in-depth plan which would involve a lot of tech and a late night.
"You guys have to keep the students entertained, they're chilling on the roof," Tim said sitting down next to Barbara.
"We can do that as long as you bats can work fast enough," Kara said smiling cracking her knuckles.
"Don't kill them!" Barabra called after her.
Kara, Biz, and Kon stood on the roof looking at teens taking in the sights. Biz stared at Jon and Adrien the blond had his arm wrapped around Jon's waist as Jon's head leaned on his shoulder.
"They are not cute," Biz said wiping a tear from his eyes.
"Glad we agree on that Biz," Kara said before skipping over to Marinette smiling.
"She's planning something, she's giving me the eyes," Jon whispered to Adrien who looked over at Kara who waved innocently to them.
"Can I get someone to help me out over here!" Kara yelled and Kim's head shot up at that voice.
"I can," Kim said and Kara handed him a guitar and motioned for Jon to come over. "Time to show how truly super we are," Kara said winking.
"You wouldn't," Jon said eyes widening as Kara handed him his violin from youth and grabbed her cello.
"Play," Kara said and the two supers started to play a low familiar melody. Marinette's ears perked up as her favorite song came on and suddenly Kara's mouth opened singing a slight melody over it.
"I hate the way you avoid your feelings each day, whisper to me whet's the truth I don't ever like to lose. Hold me so tight all through the night remember as we make a vow midnight dance don't fail me now," Kara started and Jon then took over tapping out the beat on his violin instead of playing.
"My heart escapes my chest when you say, I'll be yours and you'll be mine hold on til the end of time." Damian held his hand out to Marinette asking her silently to dance. Kara and Jon continued to sing together smiling at each other as Kara's crazy plan worked.
"You're actually insane," Jon said as they walked down the stairs to their rooms.
"You'll think we're crazier tomorrow trust me Jonno." Kara said turning off the lights smiling creepily.
"That does not make me feel better."
The class stood in front of an exhibit listening to a man drabble on about facts on some saber and necklace. Jon glanced at Kara who was asking Damian for a favor which he begrudgingly accepted stepping into the next room with Marinette a little farther behind.
A loud crash shook Marinette out of her thoughts and she jumped seeing a giant man with green hair who somewhat resembled the Joker. "What... who is that?" Marinette asked as the man came closer and Damian ran over as a gunshot went off aimed right for her head.
"What the hell is going on?" Damian asked helping Marinette up but being blocked in the room.
"What is happening in there?" Jon asked nervously and Tim waved a hand before pulling up some security footage.
"Everything is fin... that was not in the programing," Tim said suddenly stopping and starting to usher the students out of the museum.
"Damian!" Kara called out to the teen who was freaking out just a touch being trapped with no way to fight an akumatized Joker. "We're going to get you out of there ok?" Kara asked and Damian pulled Marinette away from another bullet.
"Yeah, no rush or anything," Damian said and Kara ripped her shirt becoming Supergirl and Kon and Biz soon followed becoming Prime and Bizzaro. Barbara changed quickly too following Kara into the fray.
"Get out of here now," Batgirl said and Marinette ran to Jon who changed too and Marinette knew something was off about the Joker thing but didn't want to ask.
Supergirl came flying back hit by a punch crashing into a pillar. "Who gave the Joker fucking super strength?" Red Hood asked. "Seriously, he gets all the cool shit."
"Not the time," Supergirl said getting back up and Adrien and Marinette thought they could help by transforming and fighting too.
"He's an akuma, one of our villains, I didn't know Hawkmoth could get this far," Ladybug said and Robin just joined them looking confused as to how or why Ladybug was there.
"That doesn't matter now, we just have to get him under control," Supergirl said and Chat used his power hands lighting up. "What are you going to do with that?" she asked confused and he smirked rushing toward Joker with the full intent to end things and impress his boyfriend's family when Joker swung at him and he flew toward Superboy so Supergirl pushed him out of the way and Chat held onto her watching as she slowly turned to gray dust.
Everyone was frozen.
A scream or the world's lowest growl could be heard from across the room and Superman charged punching Joker through the wall akuma leaving his body on his own free will but that didn't stop him from getting into a strange villain's car or taking him up on an insane offer just to get some jewelry.
"Kara?" Jon asked falling to his knees beside his cousin's ashes.
"What the fuck did you do?" Kon asked stepping toward Chat and the rest of the family soon did too.
"Wait no we can fix this," Ladybug said holding up her lucky charm she had called out earlier she threw it in the air and Kara was suddenly back to normal. Superman stood in front of Kara hugging her tightly and Batman landed down from the rafters.
"He escaped and without the help of you two, this is America, you're not needed here hand over your jewels until you leave, you could have seriously hurt Supergirl," Batman growled seeing Supergirl's eyes full of tears hugging Batgirl tight scared of the two teen heroes.
"And you two, I don't think it's safe for you two to go back to Paris with these so-called heroes and I don't think it's safe for Jon to be with Adrien anymore, you gave us your first impression, very unimpressed," Clark said crossing his arms and Marinette frowned.
"It was an accident," she said and Clark frowned.
"Next time we couldn't have been so lucky," Kon said getting closer and Ladybug nodded to Chat and the two split up. Jon tried to follow Chat but Biz kept a hand on his shoulder shaking his head. Jon pulled free flying after Adrien.
"I can't keep being a burden to you and Jon Marinette, I'm sorry but Plagg I renounce you," Adrien said taking off his ring and Adrien turned around facing Jon who just arrived. "I'm sorry Jon, I don't want to hurt you or anyone else anymore, maybe it's better if you just stay here find someone more like you," Adrien said and Jon broke down sobbing as Adrien ran away and Marinette stood there shocked but helped Jon up walking him back to the hotel together in the rain.
Gabriel stood staring out his window rubbing his new necklace smirking. Everything was going according to plan and soon he would have his wife back.
Damian stared off the edge of the roof of the hotel and heard footsteps behind him.
"Jon told me you don't believe in love," Marinette said shocking Damian.
"I think everything that we saw today proves that maybe love isn't as strong as we thought it was and maybe it can't hold up against anything. It stinks, I was looking forward to spending more time in Paris with you Marinette," Damian said turning away. "I have to go back to Gotham." Marinette stood there watching him leave silently and he turned back once more to give her a slight smile. "You're quite a girl Marinette." He closed the door and Marinette sank to her knees sobbing.
"I'll miss you."

TIMARI SOULMATE AU THING
-Anything you write or draw on your skin appears on the other’s
--This applies to injuries and cuts
-Tim is older by a few months
-They find out about the connection after Mari’s 7th birthday when they both get sizable bruises on each leg but can only remember causing one
--Que parents explaining what it means and frantic research
--Constant conversations follow
--Both become fluent in the other’s language with in 2 years (and even then people find out after 2 years because sometimes they slip when talking)
--Many inside jokes and weird words they made up trying to understand the other language that only they know the meaning of
-They send notes of worry to the other after bad injuries and notes of encouragement
-Wonder Women basically adopts Mari when she finds out there is an active Ladybug
--Mom used to be a Ladybug so she knows all about the Muraculi
-Mari does still have friends despite Lila’s best efforts
--Lila isn’t a main antagonist though still isn't a good person (I want to focus on more fluffy things so that's why; she is no way a good person or redeemed character)
--Her class support system: Cholé, Alix, Adrien, Kim, Luka, Kagami and Max
--Juleka comes around after hanging out with everyone and talking with Luka
--Nino, Nathaniel and Marc also support Mari but aren’t as open because fear and Nino is on the fence about his Girlfriend
--Jagged, Penny, Clara, Audrey all have a respect and care for Mari
-Tim and Mari have battles of witt on their arms to try to figure out who is smarter
--(Spoiler: they are both insanely smart) it is basically a tie
-Most of the good in person fluff will take place after Hawk Moth is defeated and Mari is the official Guardian
--My girl needs some happiness and good luck man
-Mari and Tim accidentally find out each others identity after they leave themselves notes on their arm and putting the pieces together; however this is often forgotten between stress and more important things
--Because of this though when the Justice League gets a message from Paris, he knows it is real and believes it
--When they find out they don’t tell the other because they understand and respect how important secret identities (this is part of the reason it doesn’t really cross their minds)
--Mari figures out who Robin is; she forgets that Red Robin is a thing so doesn’t look into finding him out
--Figuring out Robin was an accident so she doesnt looking to the rest of the BatFam
--Tim forgets about all the stuff about Ladybug on his arms because living in Gotham has enough to deal with so he tries not to focus on too much at once/has bigger problems
--“I JUST MEET RED ROBIN/LADYBUG” moment in Paris, after a patrol where they run into each other when the League is investigating the plea for help
--The Wayne’s and Diana are there on “official” business but really it is just a cover so they can investigate
--Diana hears about this from both sides as she befriended Mari earlier and finds this a lovely development
---She also figures out that they are soulmates but doesn’t tell them, it’s better if they figure it out themselves
---Does often have a knowing smile when talking to the 2 of them about it though
-It took years before the team decides that they need to contact the League
--This is a few years in maybe 4 going on 5
--Wonder Woman is the one going through the messages and immediately wants to help
--Tim walks in about ½ way through the message and stops what he is doing, immediately knowing this is real thanks to his soulmate
-BATBOIS
--Jason basically gets adopted by the Dupain-Cheng’s after coming to their bakey every morning while in Paris
---Loves Mari and would do anything to protect her
---Loves the fact she can easily flip him like its nothing
--Damiain respects her abilities and accepts the fact she is basically his older sister now
---Both end up becoming very protective of the other in their own ways
---Wants to teach her how to use his blades so badly and to meet all his pets
--Dick loves her from basically the beginning
---Loves her happy and optimistic attitude despite her situation (he can see himself in her a little bit)
---Instant friends and she smuggles sweets to him
--They meet when Dick follows Jason to the bakery one morning
---When Dick introduces Mari to Kori she is taken into a bone crushing hug that everyone is worried about the small girl but she instantly returns and is perfectly fine
----Kori already loves her
--All the boys meet her in Paris at the bakery but Tim and Bruce (Alfred did not come)
--Tim was never awake so they brought him back coffee and Bruce while he did go, she wasn’t there at the time
-There many “dumb” battles of witt have lead to many late night talks
--Anytime the bois need help with a really bad puzzle by the riddler Tim asks his soulmate under the guise of a normal “battle”
---There is rarely context but always a fun time
-Both have gotten a lot of big scars that sorry the other but they have comfort in the fact they know the other is still ok and alive
--Small messages and self care tips/messages usually litter their arm after a particular bad injury/scar
--This always makes them feel better and brings a small smile to their lips on both parties once they get the message they are okay
--Lots of check in messages too after big fights and encouragement
-Team Miraculous
--Ladybug is the leader and tends to be point base for public relations (Mari)
--Chat Noir is the second in command, and is the go to if Ladybug isn’t available
---Adrien has matured a lot and is a respectable force to be reckoned with
---Both of them help train the others and often spare together to blow off steam
--Ryuuko is Kagami, she became a permanent holder at the same time Luka did
--Viperion is Luka and it is after the four become a semntited team that Mari decides they should know each other’s identities
--Queen Bee joins a little but after, she’s a reformed Cholé
---While hesitate at first Mari gets them all to be accepting
---Probably changes name and outfit though, but is a permanent holder
--King Monkey and Pegas are semi permanent holders (Kim and Max respectfully)
---Only not permanent because they want to avoid suspension but are full members of the team
---Also work as civilians, helps with the cover
--Alix also is a part of the team but only as a civilian
---They have considered giving her the Fox
----She helps answer questions and acts as a ground base for the hero’s as she is the main “civilian” the government goes to if they need the team
--They are a really tight team and trust each other fully
--The turtle and fox get used but sparingly
---Ivan might be turtle sometimes
---Nino later might be a good choice too, I’m not fully sure yet
----Fox has been used by Alix and maybe Juleka too but unsure about Juleka right now
--All holders have slight effects from their miraculous
---Mari and Adrein have the most as they’ve had theirs the longest
---Mari has good luck and is able to embed some of that luck into what she makes
----She also doesn’t do well in the cold
----Things tend to grow more around her, especially flowers, almost like they are growing toward her
---Adrien has bad luck (thanks to Mari’s gifts this isn't really bad though) and if not careful can break anything
----Likes to take naps in the sun and is very protective
----Cats like to gravitate to him
---Kagami has lots of extra body heat
---Luka can sometimes predict what is going to happen, can predict a lot of normal everyday things
---Cholé can easily knock people out now, she knows all the right places to hit to incapacitate someone
---Max (weaker cause hasn’t had as long) knows the fastest way to get places and shortcuts basically anywhere
---Kim (weaker cause hasn’t had as long) is able to freerun and parkour with little training
----Can also sense when some chaos is about to happen, however it isn’t to sting yet but does get stronger the longer he has his miraculous
---Alix (has the weakest, but still strong) has the ability to tear apart half truths and lies, she gets this from the fox but also works on it herself after vowing to not let Lila fool anyone she cares about again
-After Hawk Moth is defeated Adrien moves in with the group
--Mostly stays with Mari and Kagami
---Considering moving with Mari when she leaves Pairs
-Mari becomes the Guardian before Hawk Moth is defeated
--It is about when she makes a real team, Fu gives her the knowledge and training she needs
--He’s been doing it indirecting since the beginning (well a few months in) but after she takes initiative with making the team he is more direct
--He waited to make sure she as ready and she is
-Mari plans to move to Gotham to properly meet her soulmate after school
--This is to move the Miraculous and to further her career
--This is one of the biggest motivators to contact the League to get help defeating Hawk Moth
--The team is more than onboard with going with her and follow where she goes
---They are basically family, and family supports family
--This move would also help them with Uni and furthering their potential careers, so it is a win-win for everyone
--They do want to stay a Superhero team after Hawk Moth but more low-key, the move would also give them a chance to be more open about wanting to do this
---They don’t want to step on toes but want to help if they can
-Soulmates in this au (romantic at least)
--Tim and Mari (duh)
--Adrien and Kon (Conner/Superboy)
--Cholé and Kagami (maybe Luka, unsure but I’m a sucker for poly, I could always make it a Young Justice member, any ideas welcome)
--Kim/Max/Alix (we love poly and these are a good trio)
-Kon-el/Conner and Adrien
--For the longest time Adrien didn’t think he’d ever be loved/have a soulmate
---Conner wasn’t around yet so that’s why his connection wasn’t there
--Adrien cried the first time he got a mark he cried
---It made him know there was someone else
---Mari stayed with him the whole night holding him and telling him, she knew he would have someone
--Conner rarely responds, the boy doesn’t know French so it’s kinda hard
---Tim notices the language and offers him help, he is also the one to explain what soulmates are to Conner
--Conner feels bad for his “other half”
---Partly due to the whole secret identity thing
----He isn’t great with people
----His other half seems to get hurt a lot and doesn’t want to be another cause of that pain
--Despite never getting much from his soulmate Adrien always leaves messages of encouragement and validation
--He understands how much that can mean to someone
---He starts to leave some in Englsih too, just in case his soulmate only knows Englsih
----Mari’s idea but he was more than on board for
---He often apologies of injuries he gets
----Conner doesn’t usually notice the injury but the note afterward
-----part of his alien blood is why he doesn't usually feel
------When he does notice he does worry a lot because if he feels it what must have happened to this other person (is under the impression it is a normal civilian)
--Adrien is so happy to know he is loved by someone else, because as Conner may not show it, he has a feeling his other half cares
---Mari is so happy that her best friend has gotten what he needed to know he was loved she cries with him too
----It happens a year or so after being heros so they are close but don’t quite know each others identities yet, but that happens not long after
--Conner is convinced to go and help when the Justice League goes to Paris
---He goes and stays with Tim most of the time
---Tim is the one who convinced him to go and acts as a translator, as Conner has a grasp of the language he isn't too confident
---He does meet Chat Noir but only briefly; both are more focused on the bigger picture
----Both act like lost puppies with Mari and Tim respectfully; and when they get together this doesn't change too much
----They are a really fluffy couple, Adrein needs physical affection and Conner accepts
-How they meet (Tim and MAri) [finally I know]
--They meet as heros before they meet as civilians
--They meet as heros on a patrol before the final battle with Hawk Moth
---This is where the “HOLY SHIT I JUST MEET RED ROBIN/LADYBUG” moment happens, after they get back from patrol they indemnity write the other
----Mari talks to Diana about all this over breakfast the next day
-----they both know the others identity because Diana told Mari so she would trust her because she knew Mari because of her connection with the Miraculous, instant connection
----Wonder Woman figures out they are soulmates through this (Tim had a mini crisis with her that night)
--She “may or may not” leave hint to Bruce to set something up for them
--The 2 are to focused on the final battle to worry about the potential revelations
---While fighting they have instant synergy and chemistry that goes unnoticed by them at the time but everyone else notices and takes note
--Bruce decides to “spontaneously” sponsor a trip for a class to go to Gotham, as a senior/graduation reward for a class that has done a lot for their community
---It is also a way to give a break to the poor kids who have been dealing with this for far to long
---The “contest” is announced about a week or so after the final battle
---Wonder Woman tells Mari about it
---Mari then proceeds to write far more than one would have expected, she really wants her class to have something good finally, and even excluding all the hero end stuff they do it is close to being a novel
----She would have won even if wasn’t a set up
---Wonder Woman tells Bruce which class to choose and doesn’t question it as he trusts her judgment, he also doesn’t question why she is so insistent but completely agrees with her choice
----Diana is the one to tell Mari who instaly is giving her a bone crushing hug which Diana returns in fold
---The whole squad is hyped
----Luka and Kagami pulled some strio “happen” to be going to Gotham themselves
----This is also seen as a great opportunity for them to scout places for them to consider moving after school is done
--They meet at Wayne Enterprise building
---Dick is leading the tour
----Diana may or may not have given him some hints that Tim’s soulmate is in the group
--Lila’s empire is destroyed that week, she tried to lie about the Waynes to the Waynes
---Tries to say she is dating Damiain who is way younger than her and knows nothing
---Conner is staying with Tim because his soulmate said something about Gotham and figured spending time with Tim isn’t bad either
--Identity get revealed on purpose during the trip (probably near the end)
--When Mari sees the boys she is confused but happy to see her new friends again so soon
--Diana is a good support for Mari and a “wing woman” of sorts
--Jason is so happy to she his new “sister” when he crashes the tour to mess with Dick
--Tim is passed out in his office when they pass
---Mari writes a note to her soulmate about how funny it is, this makes Conner look up as he is watching Tim and sees the note appear in his arm
---Mari doesn’t notice but Dick and Jason do
---This leads to the 3 trying to get them to talk
---Adrien catches on and instantly wants to help his bestie meet her boy
----Adrien then tells his soulmate about it later because he wants to and Conner sits straight up and has a huge revelation
-----The boys along with Diana and Mari’s squad set them up and they have a good time and it is really cute

You're Not Alone Ch. 3
Ao3 the start Ch.1 Ch.2 Ch.4
Marinette looks back on her week as she gets ready to return to Paris and to school.
Marinette leaned against her bag in the bat cave. This was it, time to go home. She glanced fondly to where Damian and Tim were arguing over what her designation should be. Looking to her other side allowed her to see Kon and Jon who were supposedly keeping watch but instead were watching the two Robin’s argue.
“So you finish assigning me a designation then I get access to the tubes forever?” She watched as Damian and Tim paused in their scuffle, Damian's elbow jammed in Tim's ribs.
Tim smiled at her despite the painful position he seemed to be holding, “Yep, all you have to do is state your designation and you will have access to any of the tubes in Gotham or the one in Paris if you are here.”
Jon spoke up from across the cave, “Why don’t you two just ask her which name she likes better?”
Kon snorted, “Because the moment they decide on a name there is nothing to stop her from leaving.”
Neither Robin answered as they instead went back to their fight.
Marinette smiled and laid back on her bag. It was nice to see her birds getting along. Sure some may not see it, but neither had pulled out any weapons and none of the blows hit with force.
She looked back on her week, there were probably too many days where she cried on Tim, but she definitely felt better now, stronger. She could face her friend now and not have it hurt.
She almost laughed as she thought back to Monday night. Bruce saw her getting ready to join patrol and forbid her from lending Trixx to Tim. Not liking being told who she could and could not give the miraculous to she made the wonderful decision to lend Trixx to Jason instead. In hindering there was no way that was going to turn out well. She still thought it was worth the look on Bruce’s face.
The chaos was so great that he hadn’t even noticed Damian using Longg until after she had recruited Chat to help her control the chaos. Marinette hummed to herself, if anything calling Chat had only made things worse. Seeing him twice that day was really bad for her heart, but at least Batman had a worse time. She still wasn’t sure if he ever noticed Tim shield surfing amongst all the other chaos.
Bruce had banned her from handing out any more miraculous during patrols, she only agreed because he said he would let Red Robin patrol again. It also helped that she could still drag the boys with her to fight akumas. Orikko and Tim paired well together.
Sadly Damian couldn’t help during that akuma. The fight would have been over a lot sooner with a dragon. Probably would have been less food puns with Damian threatening to stab someone. She blamed Chat Noir. He called Tim Rouge-Gorge like the American restaurant. They probably shouldn’t let Kon know how often Tim was called yummy during that fight.
She was snapped out of remembering quite violently when Kon had tossed her suddenly towards the sparing mats. She landed herself in a fighting stance and noticed Damian doing the same as Jon tossed him. She looked quickly towards Tim and saw that he had pulled up a summary of her last spare and what she needed to work on. She smiled, guess the supers were working as lookouts after all.
She didn’t allow anymore time for thoughts as she launched into a series of fast palm strikes. Damian sadly wasn’t taken surprise and blocked her before launching into a counter.
“What is all this? I thought Little Red was leaving.” Dick looked over the cave as she and Damian stopped sparing to look at him.
Dick walked over to Tim without waiting for an answer. He closed the analysis and started typing.
“MLB-01 registered.” Flashed on the screen and Dick just shook his head and walked back the way he came without another word.
The five teens looked at each other a little sheepishly before Marinette decide to take the opportunity to hug Damian.
“Get off me woman.”
“I will miss you too Damian.” She smiled and let go before he stabbed her then walked over to the Kents. She grabbed them both in a hug, “Come visit after an akuma attack sometime.”
“No promises,” Kon laughed as he hugged her back and tugged one of her pigtails.
She batted his hand away then went to gove Tim a hug. “Thanks for being my rock.”
His return hug caused her ribs to ache slightly but she didn’t care. “Anytime Bug.”
Her eyes started to tear up. This week was so much fun, she would really miss them. “We never finished writing our love song.”
Tim laughed, “That's because neither of us are very good at coming up with a melody.” He released her from the hug a little reluctantly and grabbed her bag from Damian in order to hand it to her. “Call me when you get home Bug.”
She smiled a little watery but accepted the bag.
“None of that now,” Tim wiped her tears away with a handkerchief, “We are still on for Saturday Brunch next week.”
“DC.” She looked over at Damian glaring at her and smiled. He was trying to hide how upset he was. “Call if you need us, it will be a pleasure to trounce your villains for you.”
She smiled, “Of course.” She stepped up to the tube. “Thank you. I will talk to you soon, I promise.” She input her designation and was off to Paris before any of them had a chance to respond.
It was better this way. This way she wouldn’t cry anymore.
She opened her purse and smiled at Tikki. “As far as travel goes I think I prefer Kaalki's portals.”
Tikki just giggled and munched on a cookie.
Marinette closed her purse and carefully left the building. She wasn’t too surprised to find herself near the Grand Hotel. Her secret phone dinged and Tikki handed it up to her quietly.
‘The limo is for u.’
‘I took u away in style Im going to return u in style.’
‘u r worth it.’
She smiled and sent a thank you back to Tim. She would repay him with some pastries next Saturday.
Her parents were busy in the bakery but still made time to give her a quick hug. Her maman even commented on her smile. She flushed a little at that. Guess she wasn’t as good at faking them as she thought.
Once in her room she turned on her normal phone and listened to all the messages come in. There were a couple from Luka and Adrien asking her to let them know when she made it back and Luka hoping she found what she needed to.
Adrien let her know he was excited to see her at school and let her know he had a lot to catch her up on. Luka wanted to know if she could hang out after school since he had a new song to show her and wanted to know about her week.
She responded to both of them and then took a steadying breath. She couldn’t avoid it any longer.
She took her time to open up Alya's messages. Ninety-four messages, most of them creative rephrasing of the questions: How do you know the Waynes? Did you meet any heroes? Are you dating one of them? Why are you ignoring me? Oh and Marinette’s favourite; Lila says you would totally have cell service in the states.
She groaned and handed the phone over to Tikki to read while she thought of a response. Deciding that she really just wanted to call Tim and sleep she told Alya she was jetlagged and they could talk in person tomorrow.
Maybe future Marinette would be well rested enough to handle Alya.
One more chapter and we are done. Maybe then my brain will finally release me from this universe and let me write for other stories.
That said, let me know if there are any scenes you want to see. I am happy to try and write them.
