It's quite a surprise to see whom was eagerly begging for something simple like a plain signature.

Akechi-san. Another well-known, budding detective around her own age. Someone more inclined to take the spotlight upon solving tough cases. Although her own opinions concerning the paparazzi's intrusive involvement differed greatly over the younger teenager, his work did make a good impression. However...an autograph? Was he fangirling?

Well, at least it was more tolerable than those Detective Prince cult members...

"...you're Detective Goro Akechi." Blunt and monotone, as always. She kept her hands tucked inside her jacket pockets while facing the taller boy. "...and you came to stop me for a simple request like this?"

HEY IMPORTANT POST ABOUT MY P5 FANFIC!!!!

It’s a long one so I’m adding a cut for people who don’t read my fic <3

TLDR: do you want a side fic which is a series of one-shots showing an alternate timeline of my main fic which includes the Royal characters Sumire and Maruki?

That fic would not be written for a while, due to time and other factors, but I want to gauge interest early on so I can make an outline

So I don’t plan on including the Royal characters or yaldy/god (I don’t feel like googling how to spell his name) in my fic (dw I already have an explanation for the velvet room that doesn’t include the evil god) in my main fic

I have several reasons, but it all boils down to the fact that their storylines don’t fit well with my vision for the fics themes and plot. It would be interesting, but it would feel too much like trying to fit two separate fics together and would end up dragging both sides down and creating a worse overall whole. My fic is primarily about akechi and Akira’s stories, and that story ends at Shido. Adding on anything else would simply not work.

But I LOVE Sumire so so much, and maruki is fine I guess, so I’m debating on whether to include an alt-timeline side fic (wayyyyy down the line when I have time and at least 15 chapters pre written in the main fic) where I include Sumire and maruki. It would be like a one-shot series, since if I wrote a whole ass fix it would A) be way too fucking long, and B) really boring because not much would change between it and the main fic

I’d either post it all consecutively over a few weeks, or a new chapter alongside whatever chapter in the main fic lines up with the alt chapter in the timeline.

Also don’t plan on including yaldy except if it’s super vague and I don’t include the fight scene cause I think it’s boring and I hate writing fight scenes anyway.

To give an idea about what the fic would look like, here’s some ideas I’ve come up with for one shots in the side fic below:

Maruki’s dream lives for the mains (aka the canon PTs + Sumire + Mishima

How Sumire meets akira and Mishima and they be fired her and introduce her to akechi and they become a big depressed dysfunctional family

Sumire persona awakening (it’d be different from canon)

Sumire being a sort of work-for-hire persona user that works with the main trio when they need more hands, but who doesn’t usually work with them since she’s so busy

Sumire accidentally being adopted by akechi and futaba as a third sibling (none of them are happy about it except Sumire even tho she’s not the one that instigated this dynamic)

Sumire becoming good friends with ryuji and shiho because she’s just so much fun to work out with and she makes the physical therapy tolerable (this ends up making her Ann’s favourite [after shiho of course])

Futaba high-key judging maruki because she remembers enough from her mom to know that he is NOT a qualified person to be talking about psychology, not to mention working with children as a therapist

Maruki tells Mishima to get more sleep and Mishima is soooo offended by that, and then after the dream-verse is even more offended because HELL FUCKING NO HE DOESNT WANT WHATEVER SLEEP THIS CREEP IS TRYING TO SELL HIM

I’ll include a shorter version of this post in the end notes of the upcoming chapter alongside a link to this post, but please let me know if you want to see this fic become a real thing.

Regardless it’ll be a WHILE, I’m already super busy and adding a whole new fic on top of that will be a big deal, and I haven’t even got an outline yet plus most of these one shots would take place a whiles a way down the timeline and I’d rather have a grasp on what that would look like in the main fic before I add a second layer of canon divergence on top of that.

Verse Addition

(While I work on finishing up an extremely long chapter 5 for the P4V, going to add 3 new verses.

Mending Heart: P3/P4 Subverse: After escaping the experimentation, Nobu runs far away from Port Island and manages to make his way to Shibuya. Living on the streets, barely managing to get by off what scraps he could manage, he eventually gets adopted....by Mayumi Yamano prior to having the affair with Namatame. Brought up with discipline and love, the wounds of his past starting to heal. Seeing Namatame while living with Mayumi, Nobu doesn't feel that he is a threat. When Mayumi is called down, she tells Nobu that she'll be right back and that he can go back to sleep. After Mayumi's death, Nobu feels alone, but his stay in Amagi Inn is financed through Mayumi's will. Nobu ends up attending Yasogami HIgh as a second year during the murders in Inaba. He largely avoids interviews, but is caught by reporters in August and interviewed about Mayumi's death. Since Nobu knows Namatame, Namatame approaches him differently. Namatame contacts Nobu to spend the night, which Nobu accepts. While he is a sleep, Namatame puts him in the TV, his area of the TV world is the same. When first confronted with the belief that Namatame is the one committing the murders, Nobu denies it until he sees Namatame holding Nanako captive. When prompted to put Namatame in the tv, Nobu is still against the idea.

Scornful Youth: P3/P5 Subverse: After escaping from experimentation, Nobu runs away and ends up in Tokyo, living on the streets, scornful of others based on his past. He eventually gets taken to a daycare run by Hideyoshi Satodama. Hideyoshi is using the daycare to work toward getting a medal in humanitarianism. He would swap out orphans to be brought up in the stories, stating that prior ones have been adopted, when in truth, he has had them killed, falsifying the records to cover his tracks. Nobu was taken to the orphanage with the condition that he has been sent to school and ends up at Shujin Academy as a first year. Satodama's treasure is a picture of him with the first orphaned child taken in.

Shackles of the Past: P4A verse. An undesired face from Nobu's past returns indirectly, bringing both blessings and curses in his wake.

P5 Strikers Verse || Straight Up Devious

At the beginning of the summer, Akechi is currently working at the rehab facility that helped him and his mother out when he was younger. Most of his time is spent helping around as payment for his residence as well as attending therapy sessions (both private and group). He holds minimal contact with the outside allowing the public to think that he either disappeared or died to whatever conspiracies they came up with. Anyone he meets at the facility is bound under a contract of not speaking personally about those in the care of the rehab allowing his cover to remain a secret.

All social media and other ways to keep in touch with the outside world are removed from his phone. It’s only through some workers at the facility that he learns of EMMA. Then he hears about it on the news that they keep on the TV in the common area. He pays it no mind until the mention of the Phantom Thieves catches his attention. It rattles him, but he tries to play it off as indifference or a lack of caring towards the group so he can get through the rest of his day.

That night he finally digs around on social media for the first time in many months. He pulls up several articles as he finds himself unable to satiate his curiosity. Keeping up with the news for a few weeks, he finally decides to check out the situation himself. His therapist express great concern when he tells them of his decision. Much to his reluctance, he told them about his time as Shido’s hitman as well as his brief excursion with the Thieves. It leads to them questioning whether his choice was out of a sense of duty, genuine curiosity, or a way to hurt himself.

For the rest of the night he thinks on it, and finds that he doesn’t have an answer. A past he’d best forget came back to haunt him. That chapter of his life left open like a raw wound. So without a clear answer in his mind he sets out the next morning. Through the changes of heart he tracks the Thieves down to Kyoto, and when he continues to hear about EMMA he downloads the app himself.

He finds it incredibly foolish for the population to be so infatuated with a damn AI. Could they really do nothing for themselves? It seemed like everything that happened all those months ago was pointless to the public.

It’s only when he spots a lone Futaba looking like a frightened deer does he finally make contact with the Thieves again. And despite his better judgement, he forces his involvement because now he finally finds his answer. He owes the Thieves, and he’s always one to repay his debts.

SHUICHI SAIHARA

While timid and particularly unobtrusive, Shuichi is a person of integrity. Years spent with a detective uncle had carved a formidable foundation for law-abiding behavior.

{ POST-GAME. }

In his primary verse, he was thrown into Danganronpa unwillingly and upon waking up from the Virtual Reality, was missing quite a bit of his original memories. Between physical and mental therapy, he’d find that his past would always be elusive but a few things remain solid. His friendships, his family situation, and his nature remained consistent. What became a hurdle was the fact that Danganronpa had not known prior to kidnapping him that he was a trans male, and thus did not alter his in-game avatar. Upon his release, he would find renewed difficulty in the dysphoria but a clearer understanding of himself.

As a note, if I write with anyone WITHIN the game’s timeline, I will change the mishap over his avatar in the VR to accurately reflect his born sex instead. This is because I am fond of this concept, and I’d like to keep that aspect of him consistent as I write.

{ HOPE’S PEAK. }

Standard verse, taking place during his years at Hope’s Peak. He lives on-campus at a dorm and is often gone over any significant breaks, doing cases or visiting his Uncle and Aunt. He’s more often than not away on any and all days off, going to the city to explore, experience events and festivals, or otherwise, work off his physical energy so he can focus on his studies later that night.

{ P4. }

Split into two halves. One centers around Hope’s Peak –> P4′s plot, without DR.

In his secondary verse, Danganronpa existed within the world of Persona, spurred on by severe influences within the Metaverse. Himself and others were dragged in but through the trials they faced, they awakened to their potential, and Chapter Six was a boss battle as the Metaverse seeped into their Virtual Reality simulation. Upon waking, they retained their personas and made a vow to seek the truth, no matter the cost. He is of the Death Arcana, capable of summoning AUGUSTE DUPIN, same as the legendary fictional detective.

Accompanying these two verses, it’s available for Shuichi and Naoto to be brothers. They lived separately and don’t know much about each other–even down to opening up about their gender identity which would only end up being implied, as both would be too awkward to talk about it during family events.

{ P5. }

{ POKEMON. }

The third verse is a pokemon verse where he’s a P.I. with two pokemon, a Growlithe and an Umbreon named Lee and Bree. After the show ended, he returned to his Uncle’s work as a part-timer and on low-risk cases, and was given an Eevee at the time. Growlithe has been with him since before the show, so both pokemon work together to ensure he keeps a calm head.

{ APOCALYPSE. }

This is an apocalypse AU in which the undead arose while he underwent high school life at Hope’s Peak. He’s great for tactical approaches and working hard, but the loss of Kaito and many others weigh on him. His only comfort is that Kaede remains by his side.

{ VAMPIRE. }

This verse is split into two groups; one remains post-game, and the other is Hope’s Peak. Each of these will be tagged with both tags.

The post-game verse is a vampire verse in which he was bitten before the game. It’s my only non-VR AU with the killing game included, but the game doesn’t have to go as it did in canon because I’d love to interact with certain characters regardless. He’s young and without a sire, but I’ll be taking a bit of lore from Vampire: The Masquerade and say that his humanity is extremely high. This grants him the ability to hide what he is extremely well, among other things. He has the power of suggestion, but he’s very untrained with it and would hate to use it unless he morally had to.

The alternate verse is in which he’s at Hope’s Peak and handles the results of being bitten on a case during a break, uprooting his entire lifestyle.

{ AVIAN. }

Sixth verse is one in which he’s winged, mirroring the pattern of a blue raven with their mostly black, glossy-blue wings and his bright eyes. They’re too big to hide and he can fly, but he’s timid about it and prefers to stay grounded out of safety.

{ REMNANT. }

A verse where DR2′s plot was V3′s, and the ‘older classmates’ that helped were DR2′s cast. The verse is spliced into three parts. Shuichi acting as an active Remnant of Despair is the first segment, him inside Future Foundation’s custody is the second, and post-NWP is the third. He’s ruthless and hellbent on punishing criminals, turning his personality to mirror a sadism that he’s sickened by. He kidnaps Kaito during the active remnant days as well as attempts to kidnap and punish other classmates/remnants in the name of justice.

He’s very similar to Future Foundation’s leaders at the time but believes them to be corrupt/weak, seeing as Junko still captured him and others.

{ BLIND. }

During a case overseas, Shuichi was a victim of an acid attack. It stole his sight during his final year at Hope’s Peak as a result, bringing him to a long hospital stay and therapy in the coming months to regain some resemblance of autonomy.

{ SUPERHERO. }

Shuichi is one of the top officers in the city not for his experience, but his knack for being in the right place at the right time, and his ability to talk to the villains at least somewhat civilly. He often accompanies Kaito and does his best to do what’s right, regardless of what the police force thinks he should be doing, which puts him in a tough spot.

He does have an ability, which is that all psychological abilities have a significantly decreased effect on him. He essentially has a mental fortitude buff.

{ METAL HEART AU. }

Shuichi suffered a car crash that all but ruined his physical body, save for his mind. His Uncle and Idabashi had been good friends, and right as the roboticist entered stages of humanlike development on his own project, Shoma all but pleaded for a chance to give Shuichi a new body.

Codenamed S4U-1C41, he would end up living with the roboticist as he regained mobility while Kibo, the man’s son, was accepted into the Saihara’s household given his own love of detective work.

Regarded as inhumane, Shuichi understands the importance of his secret and hides his true identity.

{ TWINS. }

Fairly straightforward as an AU and can be in conjunction with almost every other AU he has. His birth name would be Shiho still, but the next part depends on who takes the role of Shuichi–if the other twin does, then the name he’d choose for himself is Shouhei Saihara regardless of what last name he inherited. If he takes the role of Shuichi, then he’d have chosen Shuichi Saihara as his new name.

His dynamic with the sibling depends on the personality of said twin, but his own personality remains fairly responsible–even to the point of taking the blame for his brother and proving incredibly loyal. A large detail that changes him is that loneliness is a persevering trait of his and I like the idea that he and his brother were split up a lot as their parents were not prepared for two, resulting in an on-off stay with Uncle Shoma. This means that while he craves closeness with his sibling, he remains awkward about it and uncertain of what is really acceptable or desired of him.

As a result, he’s extremely sensitive to criticism.

{ PREGAME. }

After much consideration, this verse was added. Shouhei Saihara is a boy with high expectations placed on him. Although his Uncle is less strict than his parents were, he was forced into attending Spring Field Academy and forced into living with his Uncle and Aunt while his parents continued pursuing their careers.

He’s used to being treated differently due to his status and loathes it, often avoiding saying his name, hiding his face, and otherwise being suspicious of those who talk to him. His social skills are terrible due to moving from school to school and lacking the ability to have too much freedom beyond studying. His world-view is pessimistic and his love for Danganronpa stems from hoping most of the characters die, believing them to be terrible people, aside from the rare favorite.

{ GOFER PROJECT. }

Shuichi grew up as the world fell apart, heavy-hearted and devastated by the collapse. From the meteors to the sickness, then the Gofer Project and the rise of the opposing cult, he clung to any minuscule stability he had before going on the run, hiding from friend and foe alike. While he feels unworthy of being in the project he understood the necessity of it at the time and still does.

His natural role as a peace-keeper and helper come out full force in this AU as being alone remains the worst thing he could do to himself. His anxiety over being transmale increases due to the heavy promotion of having children, but he comes to the understanding that their new world needs law and not every one of the students were designed to be on board purely for procreating–Kiibo and Kirumi, for example, whose talents center around enrichment of others and coexistence rather than something so base.

{ ROYALTY. }

Born to the King and Queen of a kingdom, Shuichi was able to escape the confines of sophisticated life to grow up under his Uncle’s care, who was a simple detective within the kingdom. Because so little information about the heir to the throne was ever released, when he was called back, few questioned his identity and the ones that did only assumed he may have been the nephew of the rulers and that the ‘princess’ had died. His head knight is Kaito and the chief of security and intelligence is Maki. Kirumi is both the head maid and cook for him, and he’s tentatively worked out a deal where she lets him help in the kitchen when he can.

The kingdom itself is steeped in arts and literature due to the King’s love of stage play and the Queen’s love of writing for such things. This gives the land an easygoing feel, but it’s ill-equipped to handle threats as a result and Shuichi holds a vastly different view of what should be going on–and he’ll soon be King when they step down to finally abandon their royal duties in favor of the arts. It’s a lot, and he’s pressured to find a spouse before the coronation. Men aren’t excluded from this, though his parents specifically have chosen to avoid mentioning it.

Not another autograph this time? Then again, it was a one-time request only. Invitations to local restaurants or cafes were safe on the table, and yet Naoto found it rather peculiar knowing Akechi-san asked for her company. She was rather familiar with his online blog postings, and the amount of comments many of his fans left after each post. So many heart emojis, or heart-eye emojis...

But looking at it through a more analytical eye, it was a sound business practice. It strummed up attention for Akechi's public standing, making him appear more personable to his generation. On top of that, those local eateries saw an increase in customers making their profit curve upward at an alarming rate. A win-win scenario for both parties. Very clever.

The younger detective caught Naoto at a time where she left her apartment for a walk. Suffocating herself inside surrounded by mountain high paper stacks and a low-glowing laptop would eventually cause errors among her work. That's not something she'd care to fix. Yet at the same time, Naoto hadn't realized how much she ate today until Akechi-san brought up the idea.

A cup of coffee, a singular banana (half-eaten somewhere in the kitchen), not a lot to be proud of...

"I suppose since you do not seem to be rather busy at the moment, I may partake in a light lunch." Enough to satiate the potential growling her stomach would make. "It wouldn't happen to be one you have already posted about on your blog, would it?"

Dedicated didn't even come close to the varying degree of diligence and downright loyalty some of her 'fans' have shown in the past. More obsessive, and troublesome in most instances. Who would have thought someone out there found it pleasurable to slap her face on a bathroom towel, or replicated her newsboy hat for that matter.

Some even appeared to her with shirts, plastered with various emoji hearts and her name printed in a cutest text. They called themselves 'Shirogane Stans.'

How unimaginative....

"Your name has been circulating in great numbers as well, Akechi-san." How many times did she have to hear another squealing fangirl fawn over one of his selfies? Or comment about another café he visited? Teenage girls were...another breed of admirers. She never messed with the likes of them. "Is there...anything in particular you would like me to sign for you?"

Just this once. It was rather harmless considering he's one of the more civil enthusiasts.

Her advice was beginning to feel more and more pointed, but he expected as much. His predecessor never cared much for the spotlight, nor did she try to appear jovial in public. He did wonder, for a brief second, if she somehow knew about other things hidden in darkened corners, but he brushed that aside. She was intelligent, but not a superhuman.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

“...May I receive an autograph? I’m sure it’s relatively harmless compared to the... other things I’ve seen. You have quite a dedicated following!”

Once again, an excess amount of praise. Compliments here and there were more tolerable, and more than mangeable for someone of her status. However, behavior exhibiting that of idolization, or placing said person upon a lofty pedestal, crossed those lines of comfort.

She rather not deal with another troublesome group of fans.

"You have already made great strives to be known by many other law enforcement groups. If you continue to pave your way forward, I would not be surprised if one day we happen to be partnered on a case." She'd leave him with that amount of satisfaction. Nothing more, and definitely no autograph unless he truly begged for one. "A word of advice, however: do not let your budding popularity blind or distract you from seeking out true justice."

"Spoken like a wise detective! You are truly a worthy successor to the Shirogane name. I am still a novice and lacking in many areas, but I hope I can one day be a great detective like yourself."
