A Muse Never Drowns (Asao Nozomi, 2022)
Some very good looking shots in this and a nice pace to it all, but overall a teen movie directed solely at teens and the simple, gratifying way we see life then. So i guess i'm no longer the right audience for it. But then again i feel i'm the perfect audience for it. Hmm. It just never elevates itself in any thematic or artistic manner, which for a movie about artistically-inclined kids seems neglectful.

My anxiety and depression feel like the ocean. Even when I'm not drowning in it, I'm having to fight to swim and it's exhausting. Even when I'm not swimming in it, it's still there, waves greedily lapping at my feet. It's always there.
I don't talk about it because there isn't much to say. Everyone already knows the ocean exists, yknow? Telling them it does just seems redundant.
Even when I'm sitting safely on the shore I can't stop thinking about it, staring at it, swaying where I stand because I've forgotten what it feels like to stand without the waves. Just waiting for the tide to rise again because I know it has to. Waiting for the ocean to disappear even though I know it never could.
#this wasn't meant to sound poetic or anything. jts just something i cant stop thinking about#anyway just some musing about chronic depression and anxiety#it never feels easier. it never feels better. its all just part of the cycle#all of my friends know. they all know what i go througj#and it isnt quite that they dont care. its more like its just routine to them#like 'oh opossum wants to kill himself? opossum cant take the fear and exhaustion anymore?' just another monday to them#all the while the people who have never been to the ocean before tell me to keep swimming. tell me it gets better#tell me to get out and dry off#because in their minds the worst its been was the deep end of a swimming pool#i cant hate them for not drowning with me. its not like i would do anything different in their place really#its just angering#because i have no way to make anyone understand#i dont want to be alone but i dont want people to drown with me#i dont know what to do and i never have#im always waiting for something to change#but no matter how many people come into my life with beach towels and buckets for hauling water#theyll never make the ocean shallow or dry me off

shauna has an extreme capacity for gentleness, kindness, and compassion.
#i am just thinking about s1 teen shauna for a minute <33333333#i get it shauna is horrible (affectionate)#but people being like. she's never displayed motherly tendencies in her life. are quite frankly incorrect#and i get a little tired seeing things that constantly just talk about her callousness or bitterness or jealousy#bc she is all those things!!! but she is also kind! and compassionate!#she called lottie sweetie in 1x06! she tried to help mari when she thought there was something in her clothes!#she was the one protecting and caring for javi!#she has so much tenderness in her heart!#she went to stay with tai bc she didn't like the idea of her being alone. she held tai after the animal attack.#as an adult she welcomed tai back and gave her a place to stay!#shauna does horrible things and is a horrible parent and sometimes a horrible person#but she is also good#and everyone focusing just on how horrible she is can sometimes make me :(((( bc one of the most nuanced chars ever has so many layers#none of the team members are just one thing and that is why i can love all of them (except for the one non team member who is. vague. iykyk#shauna is not evil shauna is traumatized and shauna was a teenager who did DUMB TEENAGE THINGS THAT NEVER SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN SOMEONE KILLED#BUT DID#muse: shauna shipman#meta: shauna shipman#i have to read like 400 pages a week for school so i'm always drowning on top of my sleep schedule being a mess#but know that i am always thinking about her
