No-Where journal No. 9 - 18th September 1922
Page 16: Our new passenger loco
"The NWR board has the pleasure to announce that, thanks to the generosity of Lord Faringdon & the rest of the Great Central Rly Co. That the North Western has become home to two of the GCR locomotives, '9Q' 4-6-0 No. 462 & '9N' 4-6-2T No. 447. This comes almost a year after the arrival of No. 3, the prototype 4-6-2 locomotive that was purchased last which has proven unsatisfactory on the 'Wild Nor' Wester'. The board expresses hope that, despite high coal consumption, No. 462 will prove a better loco on these duties until another locomotive can be procured. The locomotive, built only last year, has already proven it's on the flat between Vicarstown & Marron, but, like most engines of a similar size, require banking up the incline from the Wellsworth side. Lord Regaby has insisted that this locomotive become the railway's new flagship, with it have received the NWR's blue livery within only a week on the railway! And has even commissioned for this locomotive to be named 'Queen Victoria' in order to provide some elegance to the express. Hopefully, this 'Black Pig', as the GC men have started referring to this class as, will prove that even pigs can more than sluggish!."

I wonder Crovan and Alfred react to gay or any LGBTQ people.
How they react?
Believe it or not, theyâre both pretty cool with it since their kind are all more or less LGBTQ people. Honestly thatâs probably the only redeeming quality Alfred has by not being homophobic or just LGBTphobic in general.
If anything itâs really more of other spirits mixing with other spirits outside the mainland caste system like with Edward and Gordon, which he considers is rather vile and disgraceful.
But heâs also a major hypocrite seeing how Crovan used to treat Alfred as a friend, despite the latter being lower in rank than him and Alfred deciding to keep him by his side as a useful pawn until much later.

A Very North Western Christmas
Dear Friends, The holiday season is always a very busy time on the railway. âWeâre rushed off our wheels, and hardly ever get a restâ Henry told me. âBut we have a duty to look after our passengers and our friends,â added Edward. âYes Indeedâ put in Gordon, âItâs most important that everything runs to timeâ. âBut once allâs said and done, the Christmas Party at the sheds is always something to look forward toâ peeped Thomas. I asked them all if there was any Christmas which they remembered more than others, and they told me of one from back when Thomas was still the Big Stationâs pilot. A most chaotic Christmas, with packed trains, missing Christmas trees, and⌠Oh, but you must read the story for yourself. The Author
Oh boy, this was a long one, but I managed to get it done just in time.
I hope you enjoy my Christmas fic for this year.
Honestly this kinda ended up being something like 2 or 3 stories in one. But part of what I always liked about the Christmas specials in ttte is how they made a point to include as many characters as they could, even if it was just an appearance in the background, so I wanted to try and do something similar.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year.

The spirit war: ( I really have many questions)
1.Did did Alfred fight too or just use his earth statues to fight with âThe Three Guardians Spiritsâ?
2. When Alfred lose his side of the war does he show up himself?
3. After Alfred torn Thomas vessel.
-Did Thomas fainted or traumatised
-When Alfred torn Thomas while Edward was standing there (Edward before he attacked Alf)
((Wow⌠okay first of all mysterious grey person, Iâm truly sorry for how old this ask has gotten. I seriously need to get better at answering asks and managing my tumblr schedule. Second thanks for asking this particular part of my âobsoleteâ au since itâs one Iâm donât get to show off as often as I want.))
OKAY NOW LETâS BEGIN:
1. During most of the war, Alfred went into hiding around various parts of Sodor and made his earth statues to fight. Reason for this is because Edward, Henry and Gordon wanted to banish him to the Shadow Dimension for everything heâs done and killing Crovan.
2. Yes and no. The trio was able to track him after receiving several accounts from eyewitnesses and was managed to corner him, but Thomas found him first because he wanted to prove to the others, especially Edward that he was ready to help fight against Alfred more directly. As a result he managed to capture Thomas and hold him hostage until the trio came.
3. Thomas was poofed instantly after his gold dust form was torn apart, because he had the guts to insult Alfred despite being taken hostage. But he is definitely traumatised even after nearly a century has passed and he ended up developing a form of amnesia because of it, being unable to remember what his life was like on the Mainland, except remembering that he came from Brighton. And for your last question: Edward got corrupted and kept impaling Alfred on large ice spikes, while Gordon and Henry could only watch with horror before managing to bring the Water Spirit back to senses and banishing him forever to the Shadow Dimension. Gordon would never admit it out loud but he feels guilty for not asking Thomas about his past life on the Mainland before getting his trauma induced amnesia.

If you had to add one fan OC to the NWR, who would it be? (Only caveat is that it cannot be a copy of a pre-existing RWS character. This includes Scott.)
This is a tough question! I'm going to guess that I can't include Andrew in this answer (cause that's way too biased), so I'll run on with that in mind. Cause if he was included, it'd be him. He's my OC, and therefore would be my instant pick - and that kind of negates the entire question. Sorry Andrew, maybe next time!
I'm also going to avoid picking Alfred the B12, mostly cause he's one of those characters who has practically melded his way into the series already as 98462.
Ok, so I think a preface to my answer is to note that I grew up on the very early years of the Thomas fandom on YouTube - we're talking 2011 and 2012 (to give you an idea of what was going on around this time, it's only about 2 years after Alfred the B12 was introduced). This era was very much coloured by a hatred of the HiT era, SiF was still the dominant place to find Thomas content, and many of the cornerstones of the Thomas fandom on YouTube were just starting out. And I was not on SiF much at this point (I was a kid back then, and YouTube was easy to find and use) - so I grew up on EE93, WildNorWester and DieselD199.
With this in mind, I would have to pick Alice.
Alice is a WildNorWester OC from their series 'Sodor the Early Years' (link to her debut episode here) and perhaps one of my favourite early era OCs. Then again, it's hard to decide when it comes to WildNorWester simply because they created several of the most notable and well-remembered fan engines - Peter, Eric, Iris, Lily, Adam, Colin and Patrick all originated with WildNorWester, not to mention Andreas and Atlas. And most of them have had up to 10 years to bed into the fandom. EE93's Young Tucker is another good contender, though they're a bit more obscure.
I recommend all three YouTubers and their series'. The quality may not be exactly the greatest anymore, but wow are they incredible to watch!

Vicarstown 1923
Happy 78th anniversary to The Railway Series!
I figured it's only right to mark the occasion with something, so here's a story I just wrote.
Vicarstown 1923
âPEEP PEEP! WAKE UP LAZY BONES! Itâs time you all did some hard work, like me!â
Groans and curses emerged from the sheds in response to this.
âUgh, really Thomasâ yawned a big blue engine, âItâs far too early for thisâ.
âI thought on a proper railway, work started bright and early Gordonâ replied Thomas.
âOn a proper railway, little tank engines like you donât go around pestering the big important enginesâ huffed Gordon.
âHAHâ laughed a big red engine, âfor once we agree on something Gordonâ.
Gordon grunted and looked away, scowling at the red engine's remark.
âAnywayâ the red engine continued, looking back at Thomas, âWhy donât you run along and get my coaches readyâ.
âActually, Itâs a goods train for you today,â replied Thomas, and he gave a cheeky grin.
âWHAT!â
âItâs Fat Directorâs ordersâ continued Thomas, trying to cut off the red engineâs tirade before it could begin.
Then he chuckled, âOr perhaps youâre just not capable enough for the job. Maybe Emily couldâŚâ
âTHAT SPINDLY OLDâŚâ
âWho ye callin spindly?!â barked the emerald single in question. âIâm more than capable of takin the train. At least unlike ye, I can handle a bit of real work!â
âOH Please!â the red engine cut it, âitâs a miracle you and those clapped out things you call coaches even make it to Norramby each dayâ.
âWhy ye F-â
âThatâs enough!â said a voice from the far corner of the shed.
Everyone stopped to look at who had spoken up.
In the shadows at the back of the shed was a little blue engine. His paint was worn and dirty, and a cobweb trailed down from his funnel. He looked like he hadnât been out in a long time.
Apart from Thomas and Emily, the other engines were all bigger than him, and he seemed to shrink even further back under their gaze.
âEr⌠What I meant to say is⌠Thank you for the wake up call Thomas. But our crews havenât even arrived yet. Once they do, weâll all set off to workâ.
âWell⌠Most of us will Edward,â teased another one of the big engines. âThe driver wonât choose you again. He wants big strong engines like us!â
âLeave Edward alone!â shouted Thomas, âHeâs just as useful as all of you lot put together!â
At this, laughter erupted from the rest of the sheds.
Edward winced, and Thomas went red in the face.
âReallyâ chuckled the big engine.
âYES REALLY, 98462!â shouted Thomas.
His safety valve lifted, and he didnât care what he said next.
âIn fact⌠Edwards got a train to take now!... Itâs er⌠Itâs the first train of the day too⌠Itâs very important!â
More laughter was the response to this, and Thomasâs face went pale as he realized what he had said.
âOH, OH THATâS RICHâ guffawed 98462. âYouâre a horrible liar Thomas. We all know the first train of the day is my jobâ.
âer⌠well⌠Technically itâs Henryâs jobâŚâ
âOh yes, the failed pacificâ 98462 laughed again, âWho, need I remind you, is currently rotting away in the tunnelâ.
âGood riddanceâ huffed another engine.
âYes indeed 87546â remarked 98462. âA waste of space and nothing more. At least Edward here keeps the spiders off of usâ.
Edward blushed with embarrassment, as right on cue another web was being woven between his wheels.
âNow⌠Now you listen hereâ called Thomas, trying to rally back against the big engines.
âItâs alrightâ said Edward quietly, âI think itâs time you went back to the yardâ.
âYesâ added 87546, âGo back and play in the sidings little mite, and leave us big engines alone!â
Thomas tried to ignore him.
âIf Iâm going, then youâre coming to Edward,â he said. âYouâre getting out of that shed, I promiseâ.
Edward gave a sad smile, âI think itâs time you got back to your work. I don't think the Fat Director will be all too pleased to hear youâve been wasting your time hanging around hereâ.
Thomas wanted to say more, but by now he was feeling rather small under the mocking eyes of the big engines.
Reluctantly, he began backing away from the sheds towards the yard. As he did, he could see tears forming in Edwards eyes.
Then, rounding a bend, Thomas saw two people walking down the path towards the shed. It was a driver and fireman, the first crew arriving to start the day.
Thomas suddenly had an idea.
âUm⌠Excuse me Mr Driver, Sirâ he called.
The driver stopped, âYes Thomas?â
âWhich engine will you be taking out today?â
âWell, I believe weâve got 98462â.
Thomasâ heart sank.
Then he said âWell⌠I mean⌠you donât have to take 98462 do you? Er⌠So long as an engine is taking the first train Iâm sure the Fat Director wouldnât mind. Heâs got much more important things to worry aboutâ.
The driver sighed, âWhere are you going with this Thomas? This better not be another one of your tricksâ.
âIt's not a trick, honest! Itâs just⌠Thereâs another engine, far more deserving of going out today than 98462. Heâs⌠smaller than the rest, but heâs very hard working, a-and really useful too! If you just give him a chance Iâm sure heâllâŚâ
âAlright, thatâs enoughâ soothed the driver. âYouâre talking about Edward, right?â
Thomas grew more hopeful. âY-Yes Sir!â He said.
âWellâŚâ
âI say we go for itâ It was the fireman who had spoken up.
âThat 98462 is a coal hog anywayâ he continued âIâd happily take another engine over himâ.
The driver sighed. Then he smiled. âAlright Thomas⌠Weâll take a lookâ.
âOh thank-you-thank-you-thank-you-â
âBut no promisesâ he added, trying to rein in the bubbling tank engine. âIn any case, I think itâs time you got back to work. The yard would certainly be a mess without you.
âIn fact,â he added, âI think just yesterday evening, one of the other engines managed to bump the coupling off of one of the coachesâ.
âOh what the⌠Those brutes donât know the first thing about shuntingâ fumed Thomas.
âIt better not have been Annie or Clarabel. Those old girls are far too kind to deserve to be bumped around like thatâ. And he hurried off to see if there was any other mess he had been left to sort out.
The driver and fireman turned, and resumed their walk towards the sheds.
They arrived to find the sheds in uproar, with mocking laughter and curses filling the air.
The engines soon stopped however, when they noticed the driver glaring at them.
He said nothing, as he and the fireman walked right past the big engines, and into the back of the sheds.
Edward stood there looking cold and miserable, with tear drops dripping down onto his buffer beam.
âHelloâ said the driver gently, âWhy are you sad?â
ThenâŚ
âWould you like to come out today?â
