Buck x reader - my shield
A Buck (911) shy reader please? His friends thinks Buck is making things up that he has a girlfriend or shy reader picked her best friend to be they godfather of their newborn son whoâs a mama boi. Then Buck thought itâs a good idea bringing his friend to the hospital to see his family - Anonđ
Buck smiled down at his phone as he saw the message notification from you, and he opened the text.
âWhatâs got you so happy?â Eddie asked.
Everyone looked up from where they were sat over to the young firefighter.
âMy girlfriend messaged me.â Buck beamed.
âWeâre still going on about that? Really?â Chim laughed.
Buck furrowed his brows a little bit.
âWhat do you mean?â
âWell, we know you, youâve probably slept with more women then everyone here combined. No offence.â Hen said.
Buck put his phone into his pocket.
âIâm capable of having a girlfriend!â
âWeâre not saying that! Weâre just saying itâs not likely.â Chin snickered.
Buck stormed away, and when his shift ended he immediately went to your apartment and knocked on the door.
It didnât take long for you to answer, and one looked at him and you had your arms around him.
Buck hugged you tightly, burying his face into your shoulder as he let out a deep sigh.
You placed your hand on the back of his head and just held him for a few minutes in silence, standing out in the hallway of the apartment complex.
âWhatâs wrongâŠ?â You whispered.
You pulled away and slowly dragged him into your apartment and closed the door, leading him over to the couch.
Sitting him down, you sat cross legged next to him, taking his hands in yours as you gazed at him.
âIâm.. im so fed up of everyone saying I donât have a girlfriend!â He exclaimed.
You furrowed your brows a little bit.
âThey think because I was a dick when I first joined I still am. But Iâve been trying to tell them for months Iâm not like that anymoreâŠâ he mumbled.
You gave Bucks hands a small squeeze and smiled softly at him.
âI know youâre not Evan.â
He sighed softly.
âItâs just frustrating you know⊠I want them to believe meâŠâ
You nodded your head in understanding.
âWell, theyâre doing that BBQ tomorrow⊠right?â
Buck nodded his head and looked up at you.
âIâll come with you.â
âYou donât like things like that.â
âNo. But you do, and then they can see youâre telling the truth.â
You smiled sweetly up at him, and Buck smiled back, leaning down to capture you in a soft kiss before he pulled away.
âYouâre amazingâŠâ
He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into him, cuddling you while you guys just watched some crappy films.
When the next day rolled around, you both got ready to go to the station for the BBQ.
It was his day off, but he said heâd go anyways, and since he was going you wanted to go with him to show everyone he wasnât lying and you were real.
But as you guys drove there, you were nervous. You couldnât stop fidgeting and when Buck pulled his car into a spot, he stopped and reached over, taking your hand in his.
âYou donât have to do this you know that right?â
He looked at you in concern and you smiled at him, nodding your head.
âI know. But I.. I want to.â
Buck smiled and nodded his head and you both got out of the car, and he took your hand in his, letting you hide yourself behind him slightly.
He smiled down at you.
âWhen youâre ready to go weâll go.â He said softly.
âThank youâŠâ
He led you around the front of the building and you saw a group of people all laughing and talking.
âAnd he finally shows up!â
âShut it Chim.â Buck snapped.
You squeeze his hand and he sighed, giving you an apologetic look.
âAnd heâs brought company, whoâs this?â Bobby smiled.
âGuys, this is (Y/N). My girlfriend.â
You gave them a shy wave and all they could do was stare in shock as they looked at you.
You were so different from Buck, shy, quiet, but they could only smile warmly at the sight of you using him as your shield

Are We?
Subconsciously baby proofing spaces like the home and car. Anything harmful or threatening to a baby must go. - Buck x reader
When Buck returned from work after a 24 hour shift at the station he was exhausted, theyâd had a lot of call outs. When he got into the apartment and found that there was an extra lock on the door, he didnât really think anything of it. But when he went into the kitchen to get a drink of water and found that there was a lock on the fridge and one of the cabinets and he began to get suspicious. He had a hunch having baby proofed Maddie and Chimneyâs place when they moved in together when Maddie was pregnant but surely his girlfriend wouldâve said something by now wouldnât she? He checks the draws to ensure his hunch was on the right track and he nods upon seeing that the sharp knives have all been placed in their own protective draw.
âY/N?â he calls out, knowing that she would be in the middle of her morning routine
âYeah babe?â she calls back and he says
âCan you come here please?â. He waits for her to make her way into the kitchen and she looks up from her phone
âWhat is it Buck?â she asks and he points to the fridge, the cabinets and the drawers
âDo you want to explain all of this babe? Is there something you want to tell me?â he asks and she looks at you and says
âOh I had Jee-Yun over last night and wanted to make sure that she was safeâ she says and you shake your head knowing thatâs not the full truth
âY/N? Jeeâs almost four years old, sheâs out of needing those locks on the cupboards and the fridge. Whatâs really going on?â you ask and you hear your girlfriend sigh before she pulls out the pregnancy test from her back pocket and hands it to you
âWeâre having a baby?â you ask when you see the positive sign
âWe areâ she says and you beam as you place it down on the counter and rush to pick up your girlfriend and spin her around and then kiss her
âI am so happy Y/N, so happy this is happening for usâ you say and she smiles placing a kiss on your cheek
âIâm happy its happening for us too Buckâ she says as she moves your hands from where their resting on her waist to her tummy.

Freeway 710
Summary: When (Y/n) drives home from her work, she meets the 710 freeway wrong-way driver. The 118, including her fiancé Evan gets dispatched to the scene. When the 118 finds the car on the scene, (Y/n) is barely conscious and Evan tries to keep himself together.

9-1-1 Masterlist
(Y/n) stepped down on the gas pedal as soon as she entered the 710 freeway in Los Angeles. Driving on the freeway was always something that made (Y/n) nervous, even though she had to drive over that road every single day to get to work and back.Â
But on the other hand, driving was like some kind of therapy for her. It was one of the moments she could empty her mind, something she really needed after a day of work. She didnât have a typical 9 to 5 job everyone talked about.
(Y/n) worked for the 9-1-1 Metro Dispatch Center in Los Angeles. She loved the job, but it could be heavy sometimes. You would be expecting the most normal calls, the house fires, someone breaking into someone's home or someone having a medical emergency. But apparently there are so many more kinds of emergencies, but you wouldnât know until you were an actual dispatcher.
A yawn left (Y/n)âs mouth as she looked over her shoulder to see if she could switch lanes. With her left hand she clicked the blinker on to the left and switched lanes.Â
The job was fun, sometimes tiring, but it was something she was born to do: help people. And the best part of it was the fact that she could stay anonymous. Something she didnât like was being in the spotlight, and this way she could do both.Â
All she wanted right now was to get home, drop herself on the couch and sleep, or maybe watch some trash tv.Â
(Y/n)âs thoughts wandered, something that sometimes happened as she was tired. She would start daydreaming. She knew the route from home to work and back like the back of her hand, she could dream it if she wanted to. She would stay focussed on the road, but after driving this road so many times you start to get used to a routine.Â
Her sweaty palms held onto the steering wheel as she switched the blinker up, gesturing to the other drivers on the 710 that she was going to the right lane. With another quick look into her blind spot, she moved the car to the other lane again.Â
Her hand reached out for the touchscreen panel, trying to skip the song that was currently on. (Y/n)âs eyes wandered back from the screen towards the road as she could hear other drivers in the distance from her start using their horn. Something that would make her mad and her anxiety rise if it came from the cars behind her.Â
âReally?â she sighed as the honks kept sounding over the freeway. But when the cars in front of her started to move towards the side and her eyes were completely in focus with the two headlights in front of her.Â
She felt like a deer looking into headlights, literally. Her pupils grew wide as she tried to react to the sudden situation she was in. But suddenly she didnât know what to do, she felt like she was frozen. She couldnât think, or act. Like the connection between her brain and her nerves system was cut off, as if some kind of error had occurred.Â
Just a few feet before the car wouldâve smashed hers, she yanked the steering wheel towards the right to avoid the wrong-way driver.Â
The second she saw the other driver pass her car, she thought she had made it through without any scratches. It wasnât until another car hit her passenger side, her forehead connects with the steering wheel as the airbag goes off and lashes her head back against the headrest of the carseat.
(Y/n) could feel the car start to spin. But those spins quickly made the car flip to the side and go over the head multiple times. A loud squeal left her lips as she could feel her body being shaken up. It felt like her stomach together with all the intestines almost came out of her mouth.Â
The smell of the engine fought its way through her nostrils. Her throat was burning from all the screams and cries that had left her mouth as the car finally stopped rolling.Â
A groan left her lips as she had a throbbing pain in her head and her ears were ringing due to the airbag going off, it was hard to focus on anything really.Â
She could feel all the blood from her body go towards her head, which made her realize that the car was flipped upside down.Â
Her eyes filled with panic, she tapped her fingers onto the display where her phone was connected to. It wasnât reacting to the contact of her fingertip.Â
Broken. Of course. Â
She could feel herself slip away, as she tried to keep herself conscious, but she didnât know how. She needed to find her phone. She squeezed her eyes closed for a second, trying to get back her vision, but it only became worse.
And the fact it was dark outside didnât help much either. The mix of a blurry vision and the darkness outside didnât give her an advantage.Â
Her breathing was becoming shallow, and she could feel the blood dripping off her forehead, into the car. She scanned her surroundings, until her eye fell onto a black haze. That had to be her bag.Â
She tries to reach out, but as she tries to make her body longer, a scream leaves her mouth and a throbbing sensation spreads in her leg.Â
Short breaths were passing her lips. Her leg was killing her, her head and arm were starting to hurt even more. The adrenaline must be leaving her body.Â
But she had to get to her phone. How was someone going to find her otherwise? She needed to get through the pain and call for help, it was the only way.Â
With her arm she reached out for the black blur that must be her bag. She bites her lower lip as she could feel the pain in her leg becoming worse as she reached further and further. Her fingertips brushed the handles of her bag.Â
Another scream leaves her mouth as she reaches another small inch further and finally manages to grab her bag. She quickly rumbled in her bag as she fished out her phone.Â
Her eyes wandered over the screen as she couldnât see anything but a blur. She could blink for minutes, but it wouldnât matter because her eyes wouldnât stop projecting a blurry vision.Â
How was she going to call someone if she couldnât read the numbers?Â
She held the on and off button, as soon as she heard the tone that Siri was activated. âSiri call nine, one, oneâ She watched the phone go to the caller screen as a few drops of blood fell off her face onto the screen.
As she waited for an operator to pick up, her vision was starting to project black dots. Her ears were still ringing, but she could hear the phone trying to connect with dispatch.
â9-1-1 are you calling about the pile up?â The familiar operator's voice sounded through the phone. It was a young one, and there only worked one younger person there than (Y/n) .Â
It was May, Athenaâs daughter.
Her voice sounded dull in the back of her mind as a gasp fell off her lips. âI think.. I-.. I was in it.â she stumbled with a soft voice, as if she was whispering. She was trying to breathe away the pain she felt in her entire body.Â
âFirst responders are on scene and working, you should be able to see them.â May said as she typed details from the call on to the log.
âI- donât see.. anyoneâ her weak voice said as she looked around the car, seeing nothing but the night sky and feeling her own blood dripping off her face onto the roof of the car. Which was now connected with the ground.Â
âAre you injured?â the younger girlâs voice asked through the phone.Â
âI think my leg is stuckâ she claimed. The black and white dots in her eyes were expanding and multiplying until she couldnât see anything at all.Â
âAre you there? Maâ-â May's voice sounded on the background, getting duller with each letter she was pronouncing, but the call got cut off. The only thing she could see right now is the color black as she heard the beeping sound fade out.Â
_
Evan was just walking beside his captain, as he heard Sueâs voice over the radio. âDispatch to one eighteen, come in. This is Sueâ the voice from Sue, the supervisor of the Metro Dispatch Centre, sounded over the channel on their radio. Evanâs eyebrows furrowed at the sound of Sue. Why was she talking over the radio? That was something that rarely happened.Â
Bobby wrapped his hand around the radio as he pushed in the button to speak. âGo for captain Nashâ he said as he let go of the button which turned his microphone on. Evan and Bobby kept walking over the freeway, scanning the scene if there were any more persons trapped in their cars or in any other way of distress.Â
Evanâs eyes swept over the scene, crashed cars, broken windows and mirrors, and lots of damage. And this all because a woman was drunk and decided to get in the driver's seat. He couldnât believe that the woman in this situation had a little underage boy in the backseat.
âCaptain Nash, we received a call from a woman, who claims that she was in the pile up on the freeway seven ten.â The sound of Sue sounded through the radio clipped on Buckâs turnout jacket.Â
Did they miss someone? It couldnât be. Buck was sure he had checked every vehicle, every small corner. But he was starting to question if he didnât miss anything.
Bobby seemed confused, his eyes furrowed at Sueâs words. Evan could read on his captainâs face that he was going off some kind of mental checklist. âIâm sure weâve already extricated everyone that has been in this crash, are they sure she was in this crash?â Bobby knew for sure he and his crew already checked every vehicle.Â
âHold on captain, we are trying to get the phoneâs coördinatesâ Sueâs voice said again. In the meantime Evan and Bobby stopped both in their tracks, waiting for Sue to find the exact location of the phone that sent her the coordinates. Evan focussed his eyes down onto the asphalt of the freeway, trying to make out if maybe he did see anything.Â
Evan did remember lots of cars crashed into each other, but he didnât see any other vehicles get off the road somehow. He wouldâve spotted it. He never missed a victim.Â
His eyes shot up as he could hear the noise from the radio pop up again. âThe location from the caller is the forty-three exit rampâ the female voice spoke.Â
Evanâs eyes wandered over the scene to see where they were. When he couldnât find any signs telling him where they were, he quickly turned around. His eyes found those green freeway signs, telling him exactly where they were.Â
Exit ramp forty-six.Â
His stomach turned as his eyes read the sign. They were three exits further than where another car had crashed? Evan slowly turned back around towards Bobby. âSo.. this car wasnât in the pile up.â He concluded.Â
âShe was in front of it.â Bobby added to Evanâs conclusion.Â
How didnât anyone else see that one car? People behind the car that got hit shouldâve seen it, right? âEverybody on me! Come on, let's move!â Bobby said loudly as he waved his team over as he was running towards the truck.Â
They needed to get back to exit ramp forty-three as soon as possible. This victim was hurt, and was in need of immediate medical attention. Every second counts in these kinds of situations.Â
Just as Evan jumps in the truck as the last one of his team. He shut the door with a bang as he made a fist with his hand and banged it against the roof of the truck, as a sign that the truck could go. âLetâs go!â Evanâs voice spoke as Miller stepped on the gas pedal.Â
Even though Millerâs foot touched the bottom of the truck with the gas pedal, it felt like a dozen minutes until they arrived at exit ramp forty-three.Â
Evanâs eyes didnât leave the sight of the window he was looking through. He was on a mission. He was going to find that car that he couldnât have missed. And he for sure wasnât missing it now.Â
The truck pulled to a stop, even before it pulled to a stop, he flung open the door and he jumped out. Scanning every inch of the entire scene.Â
His eyes rushed over the scene until his eyes fell onto the sign âExit 43â. He let his eyes wander not even an inch lower, until he spotted tire tracks in front of the sign.Â
His veins were being filled with adrenaline as soon as he saw those tire tracks. âHey hey! Tire tracks! Right here!â Evan pointed out as he looked over his shoulder, looking at his team, silently asking if they were seeing it too.Â
From a distance he could spot a small amount of smoke floating into the air and spreading itself. âLetâs go letâs go!â he yelled at the team as he started running towards the side of the road, following the tire tracks into the grass. Just at the edge of the grass he stopped in his steps as he scanned the scene. Suddenly his stomach turned at the sight.Â
A blue Mini Cooper.
******
A soft smile was projected on (Y/n)âs face as Evan held the door open for her and she ducked a little to avoid hitting her head against his arm. She walked through the doors of the bar where she and Evan had spent their Friday night.Â
No date, no alcohol, just a few drinks with a friend. It was nice, having someone to talk to who didnât do the same job as you. (Y/n) didnât have many friends, and most of the time after her shift at the dispatch center all she wanted to do was to go home.Â
But when she got that text from Buck, asking if she wanted to grab some drinks after shift. She couldnât say no. Mainly because she had a bad shift, and she needed to vent to someone, but also because somehow she couldnât seem to stay away from the firefighter.Â
âThank you. I really needed thisâ (Y/n)âs voice spoke up as Evan caught up and was walking on her right side. With her hands in the pockets of her beige thin corduroy jacket, she glanced over at Evan who gave her a small smile. âGlad I could offer that listening ear for you.â his voice said as he nodded, happy that he sent that text message.
Â
There was silence, not the awkward kind. It was nice, she felt comfortable.Â
Evan stopped in his tracks. âHey, do you need a ride home?â he carefully asked, he didnât want to push her into anything. She gave him another small smile as she stopped walking too and was in front of him. âThatâs sweet of you, butâŠâ she opened her bag and dug in the small compartment, as she fished out her car keys from her bag.Â
âAlready taken care of thatâ she smiles as the hanger of the key chain was balancing on her index finger, moving it slightly as if it was some kind of price.Â
âAlways thinking ten steps aheadâ he chuckles.Â
A small laugh fell off her lips as she looked down at her feet, and let her eyes slowly wander back to his face. âWell then, can I maybe walk you to your car?â he asked, as he scratched the back of his head.Â
âThat would be nice, thank youâ she said as Evan quietly asked her which way to go. She pointed towards her left, where a small parking lot was stationed a few feet away from the restaurant and where they were now.Â
As they made their way towards the parking lot, (Y/n) could feel her arm brush against his. âYou know, I was going to offer to even walk you back to your houseâ Evan spoke up. âBut then I realized, I didnât know where you liveâ he continued as he looked to his left.Â
âVery subtleâ she laughed as she looked back at him. âJust a few minutes from here actually.â she added as they entered the parking lot. Fidgeting with the car keys in her hand she felt Evanâs fingers brushing against her hand.Â
âThis is meâ she smiled, pointing at the blue Mini Cooper and unlocked the car with a click on her car key. With his eyebrows furrowed, he looked at the car and back to the girl he had spent hours talking with inside the bar. âNot what you expected?â she reacted as she waited for him to speak up.Â
A laugh rolled off his lips. âItâs just.. I didnât..â he couldnât even finish his sentence, because he didnât know what he wouldâve expected otherwise. âBecause if you were expecting me to drive a Toyota Prius, Iâm not that kind of girl.â she teased him, as he was finding the right words.
His fingers traced over his chin, as he was thinking of what to say. âApparently youâre a blue mini cooper kind of girlâ he concluded as he pointed at the car. âAre you making fun of me?â she shot back as she took a step closer.Â
She could feel her breathing becoming slower and deeper. âMe? Oh I wouldnât dare..â he said as he took a step closer, closing the distance between each other.Â
She could feel his deep breaths on her skin. Their noses almost touching each other. âEvan..â she sighed as she felt his hand brush over her shoulder, getting rid of the strands of hair. â(Y/n)..â his soft voice said. As the hand traced from her shoulder to the side of her face. Slightly wandering over her cheek.
âWe shouldnât..â she breathed as she felt his fingers touch hers. Their faces are dangerously close to one another. âTell me weâre just friends..â he whispered as his hand went from touching fingers to grabbing her hand, brushing his thumb over the back of her hand. As the thumb of his other hand brushed over her cheek. âI canât..â she said softly as she leaned in to the touch of his thumb.
She felt him leaning closer and closer, as she turned away her head, making a bee-line for his cheek. Her warm lips touched the soft, stubbled side of his face. âGoodnight, BuckâÂ
******
Evan was sure his heart just dropped from his chest down to his feet. It was her. It was his own girlfriend, trapped in her blue Mini Cooper that was flipped upside down.
Without thinking clearly, he ran down the oblique concrete blocks. His voice screaming her name, making his throat hurt from the loudness and his legs were moving faster than his head at this point.
He didnât know how many times her name fell off his lips, he needed her to react. To give her some sign of life.
He let himself fall down onto his knees next to the driver's side as he tried to get a visual of (Y/n). The glass windows were broken in the crash, the opening where the glass window used to be, was pancaked a few inches smaller because of the rolls it made over the concrete blocks.
It was smaller than usual, the window. But he could see her.
Cuts and bruises were spread over her face, and the blood from those wounds were smeared all over her face. âI see her!â he yells at his team as he stands up and backs away from the door so Eddie could break open the door. Eddie places the halligan he was holding between the door and the frame of the car, trying to open the jammed door.
He popped the door open, and not even a second later, Evan wormed himself through the door opening of the driver's side.
His eyes fell onto the blood on her face, dripping off her face and onto the inside part of the roof. A large stain of blood had appeared on the roof fabric, meaning she had lost a lot of blood, but he could see the blood still dripping from her head. âLooks like she has lost a lot of blood!â he concluded.
In the meanwhile, Hen had squeezed herself through the passenger's side of the car, placing her fingers against (Y/n)âs neck. âHer pulse is racing!â Hen says as Evan scanned the environment, seeing her leg being pinned between her seat and the dashboard. âLeg is pinned between the dashboard and the seat! Possible broken leg.â Evan says.
Evan could hear Bobby commanding the others of the team to go and get the hydraulic spreaders. But he needed her to open her eyes, give him some sign of life. â(Y/n)? Can you hear me?â He asks as he softly patted his fingertips against her cheek, trying to get her conscious again.
Hen in the meanwhile, got a c-collar and put it around (Y/n)âs neck. âPlease, open your eyesâ Evan begged her. She was still there. He knew she was.
A groan left her mouth as she could hear his voice in the back of her mind, with her ears still ringing of the blow from the airbag.
Her eyes felt heavy, almost like there was someone trying to push them down again. As if someone didnât want her to wake up. She fought the feeling of her eyelids closing, but she couldnât. It felt like all her energy was being sucked out of her body.
So she needed to find her voice, and use it. âLeg..â she groaned as she felt the stinging pain in her leg become worse within the second. Evanâs eyes grew wide as he heard her soft, quiet voice through his ears.
âHey, hey, hey! Weâve got youâ He tried to keep her calm. âI need that spreader over here!â Buck said towards his team. But just as those words left his mouth, Eddie came over with the spreaders and Hen left the passengerâs side to get to the ambulance and get out the gurney.
âOkay, (Y/n).. this might hurtâ Eddie says as he placed the spreaders between the chair and dashboard so the tool can push the dashboard away from the seat and her leg. Evan took off his turnout jacket as he held it as some kind of shield in front of her body and face.
She placed her hand onto a part of Evanâs leg, curling up the fabric of his turnout pants in between her fingers.
Just as an inch of the dashboard was pushed away from her leg, she felt a heavy, painful shot of pain going through her leg. She could feel the tears because of the pain welling up in her eyes as she let out a loud scream.
The scream that left her lips went through Evanâs bones, he wanted to do anything to take her pain away. With every scream her hand became stronger and pulled more and more the fabric of the turnout pants.
Multiple squeals, and screams later, her leg was free.
He felt her hand loosen her grip on his pants. Evan threw aside his turn out coat as he crouched down to finally get her body out of the upside down position she was in. But when he called out her name, to get her attention. She didnât react.
Panic started to build inside of his body as he could feel his heart stop. There was this pressure on his chest, telling him that this wasnât good. â(Y/n)?â he called out her name again. But as he placed his two fingers in the crook of her neck, his gut feeling was right.
She didnât have a pulse.
âI canât find her pulse!â he yelled, as he could feel his soul leaving his body. No. This wasnât happening. In the middle of Evanâs panic, he could vaguely hear Bobby shouting orders, and that was when Eddie entered the passengers side. âWe got youâ he tried to reassure himself but also the woman in the seat.
They didnât have time now to go and splint her leg. They needed to cut her loose and start CPR.
With his eyes locked on Eddie, he watched and heard him countdown. Eddie was holding a seatbelt cutter in his hand as Evanâs hands held both her shoulders, ready to guide her down. âOne.. two.. threeâ Eddieâs voice counted down as he cut through the fabric of the seatbelt. Evan guided her body down, so she would land on her back. They straightened her body so Evan could carry her out through the driverâs side.
It was horrifying. Seeing someone talking and breathing and within the snap of a finger, she was unconscious and in cardiac arrest.
He placed his arms underneath her arm pits and pulled her out through the driverâs side. He guided her neck and head and placed it gently onto the backboard. Evan let himself fall onto his knees as he interlaced his right hand on top of his left hand. âStarting compressions!â he called out as he started pumping up and down his fiancĂ©âs chest.
âBuckâ Bobbyâs voice spoke from behind him, as he felt a hand being placed on his shoulder. But he made a turn with his arm, telling him quietly to get off. He was busy. Saving the love of his life. âTwenty five, twenty six..â he breathed through the chest compressions.
âBuck..â Bobby said again, but this time with a more commanding tone. But he ignored it. Again. He knew he had a team of paramedics around him. He knew he couldâve just asked Hen, Eddie or Chimney to take over. But he felt the urge, a responsibility to do it himself. He needed to know what he did all he could to save her.
But that chance of saving her was taken away from him when he felt two arms gripping his upper arms, pulling him away from the lifesaving actions he was doing.
A cry left his mouth, âNo! I need to save her!â he screamed. The visual he had of her, was becoming smaller and smaller every feet he was being dragged back. He could see Hen taking over the chest compressions. He wanted to break free from the grip someone was holding him in. But Bobby jumped in front of him, trying to calm him down, blocking his view of his girl.
Everything felt like it was moving in slow motion. All the screams, all the people running around him. And he couldnât do anything. Every single thing Bobby said, didnât even enter his mind. As if he was muted.
âI got a pulse!â Henâs voice entered his mind, and just as he heard those four simple words. He lost it. He stopped fighting. The arms around his upper arms slowly loosened, as he didnât fight back.
He saw Chimney and Eddie carrying the backboard with her on it, placing it on the gurney and racing down the asphalt towards the ambulance. As he watched her being wheeled away, he could feel his knees caving in.
âBuck? Are you alright?â Bobby asks as he tries to get some kind of contact with his team member he was standing eye to eye with But the firefighter didnât react. His eyes were locked onto that gurney, and didnât leave its sight.
His knees buckled as he fell down onto his knees. Just as his knees wanted to connect with the asphalt beneath his feet, two arms were curled up around his arms. He could breathe again, as if the blockage inside his airways were being taken away and he could take a proper breath again. He held onto Bobbyâs arms as tears rolled down his cheeks.
She was alive.
_____
There she was, connected to all those wires and tubes. Both her left arm and left leg were casted. Her arm was in a sling, it was a cruel sight, something you even didnât wish your worst enemy to happen.
Evan had been sitting in those horrible hospital chairs, sitting next to the side of her bed, silent. Hoping that some kind of miracle would make her breathe on her own.
With his hands clasped together dangling between his legs, his eyes shot at the door as he felt the presence of someone in the door opening.
âHey, I came as soon as I couldâ the voice of Evanâs sister sounded through his ears. He saw Maddie stepping over the threshold, already with her arms wide open, ready to give him a hug.
Evan stood up as she pulled him into a hug, wrapping her arms around his neck. He had no tears left to cry, he wrapped his arms around his sister's body as he buried his face into the crook of her neck.
After a few counts she loosened her grip and pulled back from the hug.
âWhat happened? Is she okay?â Maddie asked two questions at once. Evan looked down to the ground. âI donât knowâ he silently whispered.
All they knew right now was that she was stable. She had a broken arm, a broken femur, multiple cuts and bruises over her body and a concussion. And the worst sight of it all, was her being connected to a ventilator.
Two minutes and forty seconds. Thatâs how long her heart stopped on scene.
The doctors put her in a medically induced coma and connected her to a ventilator to minimize the injury to the brain.
He wished he had never had to see this. It was horrible to see the one you loved with a tube down her throat and a machine doing all the work. The beeping inside the hospital room wasn't really helping Evan to calm down.
His breathing was shaky as he searched for the right words. âW-we got a call about a pile up⊠Then dispatch told us there was another woman stuck.â He tried to explain, with a trembling voice.
â(Y/n)â Maddie concluded as she kept her eyes on her little brother, whose hands were starting to shake as a leaf. A broken âyesâ fell off his lips, as Maddie placed her hands onto her brotherâs. Telling him she was there for him, that it was okay to be scared of the unknown.
âShe wasnât in the pile up Maddie.â His slightly less trembling voice was sounding through the room. He was on the edge of crying, again. He wasnât sure how many tears he had wiped away from his cheek in the last hours. âShe was in front of it.â He added as he looked down to his hands.
âI just.. wished I wouldâve found out sooner.â He said as his eyes wandered back to (Y/n). Breathing in the oxygen that came from the ventilator. Evan feels one of Maddieâs hands being placed onto his upper arm as she shortly rubbed her hand up and down.
There was a silence between the siblings. Maddie let go of Evanâs hand and his upper arm as her gaze went to (Y/n). Slowly she walked towards the right side of the bed, as her brother took place on the other side.
He watched his sister take her hand and gently rubbed her thumb over the top of (Y/n)âs IVâed hand. He could see the tears welling up in Maddieâs eyes. âI still remember the first time when I introduced you two to each other..â Maddieâs voice sounded quite dreamy but ended with a small sob.
Through the small amount of tears, a small laugh fell off his lips. Of course she had to bring that up. It was in the exact same hospital as they were in right now. Not the kind of location youâd think of to meet the love of your life.
******
With in his right hand a tray filled with two to-go cups and in his other hand a small pink box, he stepped out the elevator as soon as the bell rang. Letting him know that he had reached the level where his sister was staying the last few days.
At first she was staying in a hospital in Big Bear, but all she wanted was to get out of that hell hole that reminded her of her dead ex-husband she killed out of self defense. She needed to go to Los Angeles and did whatever it took to be transferred to the same hospital as Chimney.
Even though his sister told him that she was fine, and he didnât need to visit her that often. He still came over during visitor hours, he didnât care if she told him not to. Evan needed to see for himself that she was fine. He knew Doug was dead, but it killed him from the inside that he wasnât there to protect her when she needed him.
He walked through the hospital hallways, the atmosphere here was always so chilly. Everything was white, the employees were always dressed in scrubs: pink, green, blue, navy blue, even black.
Not the kind of location you wanted to spend your days inside. Even though Evan came here multiple times a day sometimes to drop someone off at the emergency room, heâd rather be somewhere else. Youâd think as a firefighter youâll be working more with burning buildings. But believe it or not, overall there are more medical calls than actual fires.
Evan took another turn, and finally got his eyes on the room where his sister was in. With his gaze locked on the to go cups, keeping an eye on the cups so he wouldnât accidentally spill any of the drinks. He stepped over the threshold.
âHey Maddie I wasnât sure what you wanted so I-â he stopped mid-sentence as his eyes scanned the room. Realizing that there was another person in the room. âOh- I didnât know you had a visitorâ he stumbled awkwardly.
The girl gave him a small, but gentle smile. Evan on the other hand, was tongue tied.
âOh itâs okay Buck, I wanted to introduce you two anyways. So you can finally visualize a face to all the storiesâ Maddie says as she pointed at the stranger and back to him. Evan furrowed his brow, so she had told him stories with her name in it before.
He placed the two to go cups and the paper bag he had onto the small table next to his sisterâs bed. He wiped his hands clean quickly on his thighs, getting rid of the warmth on his hands.
â(Y/n), this is my little brother Evan.â Maddie says as her eyes wander from (Y/n) back to Evan. The name sounded so familiar to him. He had heard that name before, but he couldnât quite put his finger on it.
âAnd Evan, this is my colleague (Y/n)â Maddie continued. He stepped closer to the colleague of his sister and held out his hand. She placed her hand into his as she shook it. âBuck, nobody really calls me Evan.â He corrected Maddie.
âBuck..â she repeated him, his name fell softly off her lips. âI heard some great things about you.â she continued as she gave him another smile. A smile that made him weak at the knees. She had one of those smiles that made the rest of the world smile too.
âOh no.. what did she tell you?â Panic was slightly building up in his chest, Evan knew that Maddie sometimes would give too much information. âIf she told you about stealing evidence from the police-â he added, as he gets interrupted by his sister.
âWait, you stole evidence?â she asked with a confused expression projected on her face. Evan turned towards his sister. âI thought you knew?â Maddie shook her head with that same expression still on her face. Wow he was really making a fool out himself now.
There was a silence between the siblings.
âAnyways.. for example during the earthquake, when you guys helped save a man and a woman from the tilted building. Pretty impressive.â She spoke. Trying to make things right again. âJust doing my jobâ Evan smiles as he places his hand on the back of his neck.
âShe helped at one of your calls during Christmas, the overworked guy who ended up in a box?â Maddie jumped in on the conversation. âThere was a dispatcher that kept calling the manâs phone for the team to find him.â She added, trying to help her brother to refresh his mind.
His eyes grew wider; he knew he had heard her voice before. âThat was you?â He asks, pointing at her. âThe one and onlyâ she laughed. Evan wasnât sure if she was laughing because of the surprised reaction he gave or the fact that he looked like some kind of fanboy.
âThat action of yours saved us so much time. That was insanely smart.â He complimented her as his eyes wandered from her addictive smile towards her eyes. He noticed her looking down to the floor, avoiding his gaze.
âIâm just.. trying my best. But really, you guys are the real heroes though. Weâre just sitting behind a desk answering callsâ she says. But Evan didn't quite share that opinion. They needed dispatch. Without them they were just some confused firefighters, not knowing where to go and what the situation was. They could see things that the firefighters couldnât when they were on scene.
âNonsense, your job is as important as mine. You are our eyes in the skies.â Evan said.
What was this? A compliment challenge? Who can give the most compliments wins?
A shy smile appeared on her face, (Y/n) could feel her cheeks burning. Almost blushing. Compliments like that she gets from her co-workers, never from anyone who wasn't a dispatcher.
As if everything in the room had disappeared and they were the only two left. The two of them just stared at each other. Evan wasnât sure for how long, but Maddie broke the silence in the room by clearing her throat.
When Maddie cleared her throat, it worked like a finger snap. Snapping (Y/n) right out of her thoughts. âAnyways! It was really good to finally meet you. Evan- I mean Buck.â She corrected herself.
She hung her purse over her shoulder as she pushed a strand of hair behind her ear as soon as she stood up straight again. âBut I have to go.. feed.. my cat.â She stumbled, (Y/n) gave Maddie and her brother a quick goodbye as she left the room.
Evanâs eyes followed the woman out of the room, even when she left the room he followed her movements through the window. âYou think sheâs cute, donât you?â Maddieâs voice made way through his eardrums, getting him back to reality.
âWhat? No! No.â His voice was defensive at first, but at the second denial his voice sounded more soft. Evan walked towards the table where he had placed the two to go cups and a small paper bag.
âOh you so do..â she said as she noticed him turning his back to her to get the cups. âMaddie, you know Iâm done dating first responders.. Iâm not doing that again.â He stuttered as he handed his sister the right cup.
Maddie accepted the cup from her sibling and held it between her two hands. âUhuh.. oh and.. for the record..â she started, and stopped to open the cup and threw in a small bag of sugar. âShe doesnât have a cat.â She continued, taking a sip from her coffee.
Evan shook his head as a smile appeared again on his face. His sibling was way too good at reading him.
Maddie swallowed her sip of coffee as she was already bringing the cup to her lips. âSo.. when did you steal evidence? And why?â she asked as she took another sip of her coffee.
******
âI knew from the second I introduced the two of you, that youâd end up together.â Maddie stated, as she kept her eyes on the girl in the hospital bed. Evanâs eyebrows were raised, surprised his sister would say something like that. But on the other hand, it was Maddie.
Maddieâs voice kept on going on the back of Evanâs mind as he took a look at the devices his fiancĂ© was hooked up on. Evan wasnât much of a doctor or a paramedic, but he noticed the smallest kind of difference in the device that measured her heart rate.
His eyes wandered from the devices back to her body, he scanned her body, every sound of her heart beat, every breath.
Something is wrongâ he said under his voice.
His stomach turned at the sight of his fiancĂ©. This whole time when he looked at her, he felt fine. But right now in this moment, something felt off. He couldnât describe what or why, he just knew.
He watched her breathing become faster within every second he spectated. Evan held out a hand towards his sister, as a stop sign, to tell her to stop talking for one second. Her breathing was as if she had run a whole marathon, while the machines were starting to beep faster with every breath she took. âShe canât breathe..â Evan said. He felt the panic rising inside his chest, but he didnât hesitate and clicked the emergency button above her hospital bed.
He pushed himself from the side of the bed and sprinted down the room, towards the hallway. He repeated the same sentence multiple times, each time he let those words leave his mouth it became louder and louder.
Before he knew it, a few nurses came running down the hallway, aiming for (Y/n)âs hospital room. They entered the room as Evan was still standing at the door, not knowing what to do with himself.
In the meanwhile Maddie gets guided away from the bedside, so the nurses could do their job and figure out what is wrong with his girl. Maddie made a beeline for her little brother, as he could see the tears in her eyes.
He could sense his sisterâs hand onto his shoulder, saying things like âsheâll be okayâ and âsheâs stronger than you thinkâ. But at this moment, the sight of the nurses disconnecting her from the tubes made him question if they actually knew what they were doing.
Why were they disconnecting her? What was going on? A thousand questions were running through his mind at the same time.
-
âThey put her on ECMO three days ago.. and now theyâre already telling me that they want to get her off.â Evan said as he stood eye to eye with the window that looked over her hospital room. âIsnât that what you wanted? For her to be healthy and to wake up again?â Eddie asks as he looks at his best friend.
Evan looked like a ghost wandering the halls of the fourth floor of the hospital. He was here day and night, at least.. until one of the nurses or doctors had to kick him out of the hospital. It was like he was stuck to that chair in the room and he drank that terrible hospital coffee.
Every now and then friends of Evan, or (Y/n) came to show their support during visiting hours. Theyâd bring drinks and food, they knew how horrible the drinks and food were in the hospital.
He leaned his palms onto the small frame of the window, With his eyes still locked on the window he shook his head. âBut what if itâs too soon?â he said. He knew the consequences back and forth of getting someone off ECMO and out of a medically induced coma.
âTheyâre doctors, they know what 's best for their patients.â Eddie explained. Evan sighed, he knew Eddie was right. Eddie turned ninety degrees to the right, now fully facing the side profile of Evan. He crossed his arms as he waited for a reaction of his best friend. âThereâs something else that is bothering you, isn't it?â Eddie asks.
Eddie knew him too well to miss this signal that he was giving him. Evan pushed himself up with the palm of his hands and turned towards Eddie. He scratched the back of his head. âThey told me she may suffer from amnesiaâ he admits, keeping his eyes on Eddie. Waiting for some kind of reaction.
âYouâre scared she wonât remember what happened?â Eddie asks, trying to get some more clarification. âI mean, what do I do when she wonât remember the accident? Hell, what do I do if she wonât remember me?â God he sounded so desperate. But he needed to share the questions inside of his head before itâd actually become too much for him alone to handle.
Eddie pressed his lips into a thin line, trying to find the right words to motivate and support his friend, who felt more like a brother to him, in these difficult times. âBuck..â Evanâs name fell like a sigh off his lips. But before he could even speak, Evanâs voice spoke up. âI donât know if I can handle that Eddie.â he sounded like a sixteen year old again, doubting himself with making choices.
Eddieâs eyes softened at the sight of his best friend looking like that. As if he didnât go through enough already. He placed his hand on Evanâs shoulder, and gave it a soft squeeze, getting his attention. âItâs going to be hard, but you canât back out now. Sheâs your fiancĂ©, and in the worst case scenario she wonât remember you. Okay, fine. It will hurt. But Iâm sure, if you just love her, care for her, just like you always have done. Everything will fall into its place.â
Deep down, he knew Eddie was right. But there was this feeling of fear of the unknown inside his body, making him feel anxious with everything he did. âBut is that enough?â his voice was on the edge of breaking. Eddie simply patted Evanâs shoulder as he disconnected his hand from his friend's shoulder. âI guess youâll have to see and find that out for yourself bud.â he answered as Eddieâs eyes wandered across the hallway. He motioned with his head, Evan immediately who it was, and what was going to happen.
âGood luckâ Eddie said under his breath as he made his way to leave the window of (Y/n). Just when Eddie passed Evan, he quickly patted his shoulder again.
Evan turned around to face the person who was walking towards him. âMr Buckleyâ the female voice sounded. âShall we?â she said as she held out her arm towards the entrance of the hospital room (Y/n) was in.
He took a deep breath in, trying to calm his nerves. He got this. (Y/n) has got this. They were going to be fine. Everything was going to fall into its place.
He followed the doctor and nurse into the room, as the doctor explained what the plan was and what was next. He watched the doctor and nurse do their jobs.
It could take two till twenty four hours for her to actually open her eyes. He didnât care if he needed to wait a hundred hours for her to wake up, he would stay with her until she woke up. He didnât want her to wake up in an empty hospital room.
-
Evan was tossing and turning, trying to find back a comfortable position in the chair to doze off in again. He pushed himself up, with his eyes squeezed slightly open because of the small amount of light that was peeking through.
He rubbed his eyes for a second as he tried to adjust his eyes to the brightness of the light. Getting some sleep out of the corner of his eyes that annoyed him. But just as he turned to find a comfortable spot to sleep in, he could hear a small, soft cough.
Wait he was alone right? With (Y/n)?
He shot up out his chair as his eyes wandered towards his fiancé. She was trying to breathe on her own over the tube. But the second he came closer to the bed, he could see her eyelids lift.
He couldnât do anything but watch her, her eyes kept on opening and closing. With every time they did that, the gap between the lids became bigger and bigger. Her head rolled to the side. Evan could feel her eyes burn into his skin as she finally found him.
A wide smile spread across his face, this was where he had waited for these past days. He placed his hand onto the headboard from the hospital bed she was in and clicked on the emergency button. âHeyâ he panted. He didnât know what to say. He had waited so long, and he had so much time to think of something. But here he was, speechless.
She gasped. When she realized she couldnât speak, her right hand wandered towards her mouth. âNo, no, noâ he said as he grabbed her hand and he could see the panic building in her eyes. âItâs okay, just donât try to talk.â he says as he keeps her hand in his, placing it on his chest as he loosened his grip on her hand.
Slowly, her hand wandered from his chest towards his cheek. Her fingers tracing over his skin as he could see her eyes softening when tears filled her eyes. She remembered him.
He leaned into her touch, placing a kiss on the inside of her wrist. âItâs okay.. everything will fall into its placeâ he sighed as he grabbed her hand once more, and kissed the top of it. âIâm hereâ he whispered.

Entering the station, you take a moment to yourself to bask in the quietness of the house. The fire station was fairly empty at the moment, with it being morning and all. The only person seemingly out is Eddie, whoâs cleaning the firetruck.
You smirk to yourself as you approach him, "Whatâs cookinâ good lookinâ?â You call out, before leaning up against the side of the firetruck.
Eddie, whoâs focused on his work, seems to pause for a second at your voice, before realizing itâs you. He looks over, shaking his head with a small scoff, his annoyance not being genuine.
"Thatâll never get old to you, will it?"
You smile up at him, crossing your arms as you lean your head on the truck.
âOf course not; Nothing wrong with a little harmless flirting, Eds." You chuckle to yourself as you begin to admire his appearance, watching the way his muscles flex as he works on polishing the firetruck.
As you call him by the nickname youâve picked up from Buck, he once again pauses, this time fully turning to look at you.
"Harmless for you maybe, Iâm the one who has to actually deal with it."
You tilt your head to the side as you shrug, your grin growing larger as you continue to tease him, "Come on EddieâŠIâm not that bad, am I?"
Eddieâs eyes meet your gaze as he sets down his rag, "(Y/n). You flirt with me every chance you get. Iâm pretty sure that Buck, Chim, and Hen have a bet on when youâre gonna jump me."
You hum, acting oblivious as you shrug again, âAnd here Iâd hoped I was subtle.â
âYeah,â Eddie lets out a low chuckle, his eyes never leaving your face as he leans against the firetruck as well. "About as subtle as sirens in the dead of night."
You fake a pout, âI mean, itâs not my fault youâre insanely attractive, Eds.â You take a step closer to him, sticking your hand out as you lightly brush your fingers against his mustache.
âSo, do you plan on keeping the âstache?â
Eddieâs eyes widen as you touch his face, the light, delicate caress sending a shiver down his spine. He sighs, keeping his eyes on yours.
âI-I donât know.â He stutters out, the sudden proximity and the way youâre looking at him makes his breath catch in his throat for a brief moment. His gaze drops to your lips for a fraction of a second, before he clears his throat and pulls away. âWhy? Donât like it?â
Your face softens as he leans into your touch, your heart practically pounding as your eyes lock onto each otherâs.
âOh no,â You pause for a moment, letting your hand fall away as you admire his face, âI like it. A lot, actually.â
Surprise flickers in his eyes, but only for a moment. Still, you notice it. Before he can say anything else, the sound of footsteps echos from behind you guys
You turn to look behind you and see Bobby emerging from his office, a small grin on his face.
âGood morning you two. Did I interrupt something?â
âNo, Cap,â Eddie instantly straightens, clearing his throat and glancing away, trying to act casual. âJust finishing up here.â
Bobby hums, seeing right through Eddieâs act, his smile growing as he turns to you. âAnd what about you?â
You chuckle, sending another smile in Eddieâs direction, a hint of mischief in your eyes. âJust keeping him company.â
Eddie glances back at you, eyes narrowing slightly at the look on your face. He opens up his mouth to say something but is interrupted by Bobby continuing.
âListen, Iâm gonna have you guys hang back if we get any fire calls today. Eddie, I want you to be able to show (y/n) how the ambulance works on medical calls.â
You give Bobby an affirmative nod, âSounds good to me. Hear that Eds? Sounds like youâre gonna be stuck with me all day.â
âGreat.â
Bobby chuckles again, shaking his head at the two of you as he grabs a clipboard for his office and walks back inside.
The smirk immediately reappears on your face as you take a step closer to Eddie, looking up at him with wide (e/c) eyes.
âAw come on, donât look so grumpy.â You give his shoulder a playful shove; trying not to let your thoughts linger on how hard his muscles feel under your touch. âYou get me all to yourself, shouldnât you be happy?â
Eddie rolls his eyes, shaking his head in mock annoyance, though he canât help the smile that curls at the corner of his lips. âOh, Iâm ecstatic.â
You grin wider, knowing you managed to get him to smile. You give his shoulder another pat, letting your hand linger for a moment, before stepping back again. âThatâll work for me.â
You give him a wink before turning and heading in the direction of the locker room to change.
Eddie watches as you walk away, a mix of amusement and irritation playing across his features. Suddenly the sound of Buck and Chimâs voices breaks his gaze, and he quickly averts his eyes, getting back to work on cleaning the truck.
A few moments later, you reappear, now in your uniform. Leaving the top unbuttoned just enough to barely expose the skin of your chest, but still technically fall within the dress code.
You open your mouth to call out to Eddie when the station alarm suddenly starts ringing.
Eddieâs head snaps in your direction at the sound of the alarm, immediately noticing your outfit. His eyes roam over the exposed skin of your chest for just a second before averting his gaze. Buck, Chim, and Hen appear from the loft and rush past you guys to the fire truck.
Chim, Hen, and Buck are about to hop in the truck when Bobby stops them, averting his attention over at you and Eddie.
â(y/n) Eddie, dispatch said that this call was just a small structure fire, and no injuries were reported.â
You nod as you glance toward Eddie, âSo you want us to stay back?â
Bobby nods, âThatâs right. If we need anything though, weâll let you know through the radio.â
Eddie lets out a small sigh, stuffing his hands in his pockets. âGot it.â
You glance over at him, your eyes lingering on his for a moment before looking back at Bobby, âWeâll be on standby then.â
Bobby nods again, patting the side of the ambulance before turning to get into the firetruck. Buck sends both you and Eddie smirks, wiggling his eyebrows as he follows Hen and Chim into the back of the truck.
Eddie ignores them, moving to lean against the back of the ambulance, crossing his arms.
The sunlight makes his brown hair almost shine. His dark brown eyes have an almost golden look. Despite having been up since the early morning, he is still somehow effortlessly attractive. His uniform shirt hugs his upper body in the most delicious way, his muscular build being noticeable through the thin fabric.
You're snapped from your daze as Bobby flips on the lights and sirens and swiftly pulls out of the station.
You let out an internal sigh as you drink in the sight of him, your head filling with thoughts of how the fabric would feel against your fingers. You had only been on the job for a few months, but you somehow already wanted to do unspeakable things to this man. You take a step closer to him, leaning on the back of the ambulance.
âWhat do we do now? JustâŠwait?â
As you step closer to him, Eddieâs head turns to you, his eyes roaming over you for a moment before he speaks. Thereâs a slight hint of tension in his voice, though he tries to play it off.
âYeah.â He lets out a huff of air, his eyes darting out to the street before settling back onto you.
You hum, looking over at him and tilting your head slightly so that youâre looking at him dead on. You continue to admire him, your eyes slowly raking over his face.
âSoâŠhow long do you think theyâll be gone for?â
Eddie sighs as your gaze lands on him, your smirk already telling him that you most likely have something in mind.
âIf itâs just a small fire then Iâd say probably an hour and a half.â
A mischievous look fills your eyes when he says an hour and a half. You bite your lip to suppress a smile as you push yourself up off the ambulance, moving to stand directly in front of him, your bodies nearly touching.
âAn hour and a half, huh? Thatâs an awful lot amount of time for us to beâŠalone.â As you speak to him, your voice has a low, almost sultry tone to it; it takes everything in him to not shiver.
He lets out a shaky breath, glancing around for a brief moment before focusing back on you and clearing his throat.
âAnd what do you suggest we do?â
Your smirk softens into a more suggestive smile. You reach up and brush a strand of hair out of his face, your fingers ever-so-slightly grazing his skin.
âWell, I could think of a few things.â
He lets out a quiet gasp at your touch. His muscles are coiled, and you can see the way his jaw clenches in a halfhearted attempt to stop himself from reacting.
He swallows hard, his Adam's apple bobbing visibly, "You really need to stop doing that, (y/n).â
You move even closer to him, closing the tiny amount of space that was left between your bodies. Your hand moves, instead coming up to rest on his chest, just above his heart.
"Doing what, Eddie?" You look up at him, feigning innocence as you tilt your head to the side.
He can feel your body against his, the warmth from your skin sending jolts of electricity up his spine.
He looks down at you, a look of frustration and desire in his eyes, âYou know damn well what Iâm talking about.â
You bite your lip, holding back a chuckle as you see the look in his eyes. You can tell heâs fighting a losing battle, slowly giving in to his desires. You brush your thumb across the logo printed on the fabric of his uniform, feeling the hammering of his heart.
âMaybe I do. Maybe I donât.â You hum.
"(Y/n)." he mutters, his voice a low, strained warning.
His resistance just adds fuel to the fire inside you. You want to see him lose control, want him to finally give in to the obvious tension between you two. You let your hand slowly trail down his side, lingering on his hip before coming to a rest on his thigh.
âYeah?â
Eddie's breath hitches as your hand trails down his body, his hips twitching involuntarily when you rest your hand on his thigh. He swallows hard, the feeling of your body so close to his and your hand on his skin sending a shiver through his entire body. Your breath on his face does absolutely nothing to help him.
It takes every last ounce of restraint he has to not spin you around right here andâ
âWell,â you abruptly distance yourself from Eddie, a sly smile curling on your lips. âI'm starving, so I'm gonna go fix myself something to eat."
He looks at you, blinking rapidly, his mind fighting to come up with a response while you smirk at him. However, all he can manage to say is a quiet âuhâ
"Have fun being all alone, Eds." you wink, before waltzing away towards the kitchen.
He lets out a frustrated huff of air, his hands clenching and unclenching at his sides. Half torn between wanting to give in to your games and wanting to just grab you and slam you against the nearest wall.
Reaching the loft, you open the fridge and pull out a small pack of bacon. Cutting it open, you plop a pan onto the stove and lay a few slices onto the hot metal.
As you wait for your food to cook, you pull out your phone. You scroll through your Twitter to pass the time; completely oblivious to Eddieâs figure sneaking behind you, until itâs too late.
âYou think youâre so damn funny, huh?â His breath feels hot against your neck as he murmurs in your ear, his voice low and dangerous.
Your eyes widen slightly, but before you can muster anything his body is pressed up against your back, his arms caging you against the counter in front of you.
A chill goes down your spine as you hear his voice, low and gravelly in your ear. The feeling of his body pressed against your back makes you shiver, the combination of his words and his breath on the sensitive skin of your neck makes you go weak in the knees.
âDepends on what you think is funny.â You manage to gasp out.
"You're a tease, (y/n). A goddamn tease." He growls in your ear, his lips brushing against the sensitive skin, sending a wave of heat through your body.
A shiver runs through your body when you feel his lips press against your neck, the feeling of his teeth nipping at your skin making you let out a sharp gasp. Your head tilts to the side almost involuntarily, giving him more access to your neck.
You grip the edge of the counter in front of you, trying your best to keep yourself upright.
"Cat got your tongue, sweetheart?" Eddie mutters against your neck
You let out a shaky breath as you turn your head towards him, the look in his eyes dark and full of desire. His thumb moves from your chin to your bottom lip, gently tracing the soft skin there.
You know you should reply to him, say something clever to keep up your usual attitude, but your mind is suddenly empty of anything but him.
His teeth lightly nip at your skin. You arch your back as best you can with the way he has you pinned against the counter.
"F-fuck, Edsâ"
âI'm about two seconds away from bending you over this counter, don't push your luck." Eddie grins against your neck, his lips moving to bite at the sensitive spot just behind your ear.
"You'd like that, wouldn't you, sweetheart?" He murmurs, his voice low and full of desire. "Bent over the counter for anyone to see."
"Eddie, I-You canâtâ" You gasp out, your back arching farther into him. You can feel his body pressed up against yours, his hips grinding into your backside.
Eddie hums against your neck, his hands running down your sides until they find the edge of your shirt, slipping underneath and trailing up your stomach. His touch sends jolts of electricity through you.
"Is this what you wanted, sweetheart? You wanted to drive me crazy, to have me lose control?" His breath fans against your skin.
Eddie's words make your head spin as your body responds almost instantly.
"It worked though, didnât it?â
Before you can even realize whatâs happening, Eddieâs spinning you around and bending you over the kitchen island so that you're facing the entrance of the station.
The feeling of his hips pressing against your backside makes a full-on moan escape your lips, his body heat almost overwhelming.
âVoy a hacerte comer esas palabras, princesa.â He growls into your ear.
Jesus Christ.
His Spanish makes your head spin, the low, sultry tone of his voice as he murmurs the words into your ear nearly sending you over the edge. You feel him press up against you, his hips rolling into you, the feeling of his growing arousal against your backside making a shudder go through your body.
You let out another moan, his name on your lips between gasps for air, âOh my god.â
"You never know when to quit, do you?" He mutters against the back of your neck, his lips delicately trailing kisses down your spine.
You whimper at his touch, your body responding to him as if he's a drug and you're hopelessly addicted.
"Itâs like you enjoy being a little minx, huh? Teasing me all day, getting me all bothered.â
Your mind is hazy, your thoughts consumed by the feeling of his lips on your skin, the sound of his voice in your ear, the touch of his hands on your hips.
"F-fuck,â you stutter out before biting down on your lip, trying to hold back another moan.
He rolls his hips into yours again, his body grinding against yours.
The friction from his hips against your clothed core has you gasping again, your hands gripping the edge of the counter for support. You feel like you're on fire, your entire body thrumming with heat and desire, and all you can think about is him.
âEddie, please...â you gasp out, your head spinning from the combination of his touch and the sound of his voice in your ear.
Then suddenly, you feel him shuffle behind you. Confused, you crane your neck over your shoulder only to see him grabbing your phone. He leans back over your shoulder, bringing your phone up and holding it to your face. You can barely focus on the screen, your eyes unfocused and dazed.
"Unlock it."
You blink, the request taking a moment to register in your foggy mind. Still, you unlock your phone with shaky hands, managing to type in your passcode through your daze. You donât know what heâs planning, but at this point, youâre so far gone you donât even care.
He opens the camera app on your phone before propping it up a few inches in front of you; it perfectly captures the two of you.
âGood girl,â he whispers, his voice low in your ear. âNow letâs see just how much you regret your little game.â
Your eyes grow wide when you comprehend what heâs doing. The thought of it has you suddenly even more turned on. He hits the record button and roughly tugs down your tight uniform bottoms and sinks to his knees.
Your breath hitches at his actions. You can see yourself on the phone screen, your face flushed, your (e/c) eyes darkened with lust, your hair already slightly messy from the way he had you pinned down against the counter.
You try to turn around to look at him, but his hand finds the back of your head, "Keep your eyes on the camera, carñio."
Your breath catches in your throat at the pet name. You'd never seen this dominant side of Eddie, not to this extent at least.
"Y'know, you didn't even ask me if I wanted anything to eat."
Your mind is a hazy mess, your eyes half-lidded as you keep them focused on the camera. Youâre at his mercy, and you find that you donât mind it one bit.
You let out a gasp as you feel his hands move up your thighs, nearing where you need him the most, your breathing stuttering and your body shaking with anticipation.
âBut thatâs okay,â he continues, âI think Iâve found something much better to eat.â
You hear his words, but youâre too caught up in the feeling of his touch to process them, your mind still trying to regain some lucidity as his hands move even farther up your thighs, just barely grazing the lacy hem of your (f/c) underwear.
âGod, youâre beautiful, sweetheart.â He murmurs, voice low and full of need. His hands grip the skin of your thighs, his touch slightly rough.
âAnd look at that, youâre soaking through your panties, carñio.â Carefully, he drags your underwear to the side, exposing your soaking folds to the cool air.
The feeling of his hands as they slide your underwear to the side has you trembling, your legs shaking as you try to keep yourself upright. You feel him sink to his knees behind you, his breath fanning against your skin, the proximity of his face to the core of your being has you clenching your teeth.
You canât see his face, but you can feel his presence, and the anticipation is nearly enough to make you cry out.
Eddie runs his hands up your thighs, his touch firm and sure. Then, you feel his hands grip your hips, his fingers digging into your flesh. You shiver, your body growing hot in anticipation.
You canât help but gasp as he lets his tongue run up your thigh, so close to where you need him most.
"I swear to g-god, Eddie. If you don't do-" Your words fail you as his tongue slowly breaches your wetness. He holds your hips steady as his tongue dips deeper, just barely breaching your slit.
"M-Motherfuckâ" You moan out, your voice growing louder from the sudden pleasure.
Eddie pulls away from your folds with an obnoxiously dramatic pop, "You gotta stay quiet, princesa. Don't want the team to come back and hear these pretty noises, do we?"
You bite down on your lip again, trying to restrain your moans. But it's practically impossible with the way he's slowly teasing you.
"Y-you're being mean." You say, your words coming out shaky from your attempts to stay quiet. You can feel your clit throbbing with desperation.
"Mean?" He mutters, his breath fanning against your skin. "Me? Not at all. I'm being...very generous."
At an agonizing pace, he slides his fingers through your wetness, just missing your sensitive bud before bringing his fingers to his lips, his tongue licking around the digits.
"You taste so sweet...como el cielo.â
You let out a strangled whimper, your body begging for more as his hands continue to wander. He presses a kiss against your clit, the friction of his mustache making your eyes roll back.
âPlease,â you gasp out, your voice just above a whisper. âPlease, please, pleaseâŠâ
Eddie hums at your words, letting his tongue just barely brush against your sensitive bud. You swiftly cup your hand over your mouth to muffle your noises.
You look absolutely debauched as you catch sight of yourself in the camera. Your hair is falling in messy wisps across your forehead, uniform bunched around your hips, face flushed, and eyes darkened with lust; The sight of yourself only serves to heighten your arousal. Before you can say anything, you feel two of Eddie's thick fingers press into you, drawing a high-pitched whine from the back of your throat.
"F-fuckâ" You bite down on your hand to keep yourself quiet. "More, EddieâNow."
âBossy little thing,â He growls as you speak, his fingers curling inside you. âYou're not the one in charge here.â he gives a harsh suck against your soaking folds.
You glance at the camera, still recording the two of you. Eddieâs right; and that made something in your stomach turn violently.
You grip the counter, your fingers clenching and unclenching at the edge. You let out another moan, your eyes squeezing shut from the immense amount of sensation.
âSo beautiful like this, sweetheart,â he mutters, his words partially muffled against your skin. âAching and dripping for me. All mine.â
He curls his fingers again, pushing into the spot that makes you cry out, and you barely manage to muffle your cries against your hand.
âGod, youâre so loud.â
"Eddie! P-please, please! Mâsorry for earlier." You slur deliriously with pleasure, eyes brimmed with hot tears.
He can practically taste the desperation in your voice, feel the tension rippling through your body as he pumps his fingers inside you. He pulls away, standing and smirking, watching as your walls flutter around nothing.
âAre you?â
You nod eagerly, your head hazy with lust, but your mind is just lucid enough to know that your answer will have an effect.
âYesââ you gasp out, your breathing heavy. âIâm so sorry! Please, Eddie, Iâm sorry. I promise I wonât tease you anymore, just please!â
Eddie hums, low and satisfied. He runs his hands up your thighs, watching as they shake in his grip.
âWe both know that's a lie, cariño.â He says, his tone slightly mocking. He leans in closer to you until his mouth is right by your ear.
âYou know what they say, cariño. Paybackâs a bitch.â He gives your shoulder one last teasing bite before dropping back to his knees.
Your mind is still reeling from his words, trying to catch up with the events that just took place. But that all quickly changes the moment you feel his tongue thrust into your soaked slit; replacing where his fingers had previously been.
You wail in delight. Your eyes clench tight once more as Eddie lets out a deep moan from behind you, your sweet taste flooding his tastebuds once again.
He grips your hips to keep you from moving too much, his mouth working you with a newfound fervor as you struggle to keep yourself upright.
"JesusâŠjust a little more, m'so closeâ"
This only serves to ignite Eddie. Hearing you admit how close you are, all because of him. The way youâre now falling apart at his touch makes him growl against your skin; the vibrations almost send you over the edge.
He reaches around, harshly rubbing at your sensitive bud as he pulls his mouth away, "Fuck, best meal I've ever had..."
âOh godââ You try to choke out, but the words quickly devolve into another whine. âPlease, E-Eddie, Iâm gonnaââ
And right at that moment, a loud, familiar sound fills your and Eddieâs ears; the sound of the firetruck pulling up outside.
"Oh shit." You mutter, your (e/c) eyes growing wide. You glance back at Eddie, your breath catches at the sight of his face.
Eddieâs pupils are blown wide, his face red and sweaty, hair sticking to his forehead. He gives another shaky breath before his eyes lock onto the camera still pointing at your form. For a moment, he considers stopping the recording, but...
Maybe itâs the way you look, all breathless and needy. Or how your uniform is pulled down, completely exposing your bottom half. All Eddie knows, at this moment, is that you two canât stop.
âEddie, W-We canâtââ
âWe can.â Eddie says, his voice firm.
He reaches out, grabs the camera from the island, and holds it inches from your face, his voice still firm.
âYou see this? You see what you look like all flushed and whiny, princess?â You can hear him give a low noise, his voice slightly shaky. "tan hermosa, tan perfecta, toda mĂa."
You spare one last look over your shoulder to Eddie. His chin is practically dripping with your juices, his lips red and swollen.
His dark brown eyes meet yours. As you open your mouth to speak, he suddenly dives right back in. Going to work with a newfound vigor.
You feel your hips arch slightly against his mouth, your legs shaking and your breathing coming out in quick gasps. You clench your teeth, trying to keep yourself from crying out.
Your hands, which had been gripping the counter, quickly move to cover your mouth, trying to muffle your series of pathetic whines.
You bite down on your hand, as hard as you can to keep from moaning, but the more you hear your teammates' voices, the harder it is to keep yourself in check.
You listen to Buck's laughter, you hear the deep rumble of Bobby's voice talking about dinner plans, you hear Hen's voice as she enters a conversation with Chimneyâ
All you can think about at that moment is that at any second, any one of them could walk into the kitchen and see the two of you.
Shamefully, that thought is enough to send you over the edge.
Your body feels tense as your climax washes over you, "F-fuckâE-Eddie!"
Your legs are shaking more than ever, so much so that you're sure if Eddie wasn't holding you up, you would have fallen to the ground. Wave after wave that rolls through you, Eddieâs tongue is there to accompany it.
Itâs too much. Everythingâs overwhelming. Youâre overstimulated, your brain is fuzzy, and your body is hot. Youâre sure if this continues any longer, youâll break. The sounds of the team outside seem to fade into the background for a moment.
"Goddamn Eddie, p-please.â You can barely hear your voice over your ragged breathing.
The rest of the team's voices echo through the station, you swear you can hear footsteps coming closer to the kitchen. You feel tears pricking at the corner of your eyes as he finally lets up.
He pulls away, wiping the back of his hand against his mouth, his face flushed and sweaty. You breathe heavily, leaning forward on the counter, your body still shuddering from the aftereffects of your orgasm.
You're about to try and fix your uniform, to make yourself look at least a little presentable when suddenly, you hear footsteps clambering up the loft stairs. You panic and start to scramble to pull your pants back up and as you manage to, Eddie swiftly slinks beside you so they don't suspect anything.
You see Buckâs head of curls as he clambers up the loft stairs, "You guys cooking?" he chirps.
Before you can open your mouth to speak, Eddie pipes up.
âYep, figured that weâd go on and get a head start on dinner.â He says, leaning casually against the counter. Yâknow, his tone is surprisingly calm for a man who had just had his head buried between your legs.
Buck smiles right back, seemingly clueless to what had been going on mere seconds before.
"Alright! Lemme know when it's ready, I'm starving."
He quickly turns back around and disappears, and you let yourself breathe again. You feel Eddie's hand fall to the small of your back.
"You did so well." He whispers in your ear, his voice low and gravely. "I'm proud of you."
You give him a weak smile, trying to keep your breathing under control, but it doesn't help that every nerve ending in your body is still on fire. Everything is still so sensitive, and you can't help but shiver at the feeling of his breath on your skin.
He turns you so you're facing him, and you practically collapse into his chest. Immediately, he wraps his arms around you, pulling you close to him. You bury your face into his shoulder, inhaling the intoxicating scent of his sweat and cologne.
"Y-you're a dick, sometimes.â You mutter, still trying to calm your breathing as he steadies himself, you look down at the front of his pants and then back up to him. "Do you want me to...?"
Catching your drift, Eddie's cheeks suddenly flush with a light pink dusting.
"I uhâI a-already..." He stutters for a moment, trying to find his words.
You raise an eyebrow at his reaction, and your lips pull into a sly smile.
"Really? I didnât even touch you.â You tease him, your finger slowly moving down his chest.
He swallows, his Adamâs Apple bobbing in his throat as your hand slowly makes its way down his chest. He looks away, his cheeks still a dusted pink as a shiver goes through him.
"Yeah well,â He stutters, "Can you blame me?â
You can't help but giggle at his response, your face splitting into a grin as you look up at him. You reach up and pat him on the cheek.
"You're cute when you get all flustered."
His blush deepens at your touch, and he lets out a huff, trying to hold on to any shred of composure he has left.
âI am not flustered, I-I donât get flustered.â He says defensively, finally meeting your gaze.
âReally? Cause you look pretty flustered to me.â You say smugly.
"Oh, shut up, cariño." he murmurs, leaning down to press a kiss to your forehead.
You give a soft hum, "Never, Eds. I'm gonna enjoy this for as long as I can."
"I'm gonna make you eat those words later, princesa."
You raise an eyebrow at him, fighting the shiver that runs down your spine at the nickname.
"Is that a promise?" You say, leaning your body a little closer to his.
He grins down at you, a cheeky look on his face, "It's a guarantee."

Collision
TW/CW: Car accident, injuries.
Pairing: Evan Buckley x Diaz!Reader
You smiled to yourself as you walked beside Christopher, your nephew. You had watched him in the morning while your brother was working, and Carla was attending an appointment. You didnât mind though, you absolutely adored him, and he enjoyed spending time with you.Â
You had an hour to kill before dropping him off to Carla, and heading off to work yourself, so you decided to swing by the station to have lunch with the team. It was quiet when you arrived, indicating the team were on a call. You took it upon yourself to make lunch for everybody, knowing it would be a relief to them when they got back. Chris was sat at the table on his tablet, in a world of his own, allowing you to focus on the food. You couldnât help but smile to yourself as the sound of the shutters opening filled the station followed by heavy boots thudding against the floor as each firefighter jumped out of the truck. The footsteps got closer, the faint smell of smoke mixed with a familiar aftershave filled your nostrils and you instinctively lean back into the body that is now behind you as arms snake around your waist. âIsnât this a nice surprise?âÂ
You turn towards the voice, and smile, âApparently, I canât seem to stay away.â You lean up to kiss Buck, causing Chris to pull a disgusted face. This seemed to amuse Buck, and he kissed you again. Eddie appeared in the kitchen, and made his way over to his son, visibly happy to see him. âCome on guys, get a room.â You rolled your eyes playfully at your brothers comment, and pulled away from Buck.Â
You dished up the food for the team and took a seat, eager to hear about the call they had just been on. You listened intently as you ate, your complete focus on Buck as he spoke passionately about the call. Your heart warmed as you watched his face light up, he loved how much you genuinely enjoyed hearing about the calls, and how his day had gone. Chimney was the next to speak up, âIt was a good call, except the part where Buck was playing hero and nearly got himself killed.â Bucks eyes widened and he turned to look at Chimney, giving him a look that immediately stopped him talking. Chimney, trying to help, began speaking again, âDonât worry, itâs nothing out of the ordinary. It wasnât any more dangerous than a simple call, the risk is always there. Besides, it was probably one of the safer times Buck tried to save the day, you shouldâve seen him on the call last week.âÂ
âChim, stop talking.â Buck, who was now visibly on the spot, turned to face you. He studied your face, working out how to approach this. He opened his mouth to reassure you, but you beat him to it, âI thought we spoke about thisâŠâ Buck knew you understood that no day was guaranteed, and that saving people on calls was something he would always try to do, even if it put him at risk. He also knew that he had a habit of jumping the gun and putting himself in dangerous situations without thinking it through. âIâm sorryâŠâÂ
You checked your watch, and stood up. âI just wish youâd be more careful, Buck.â Chris stood up and hugged Eddie goodbye, and you did the same. âLater bro.â You said goodbye to the team and walked back to the car with Chris by your side. The breeze hit you, and you took a deep breath. Maybe you were overreacting, maybe not but you just needed a moment. You helped Chris into the car and got in yourself, turning on the radio. The short ride to Carlas mostly consisted of Chris laughing as you sang along to the music, and the occasional conversation when Chris wasnât overly engrossed in his phone. Carla was there to greet you when you pulled up on her drive, Chris was extremely excited and practically jumped out of the car to hug her. Carla gave you a hug, âY/N, itâs so good to see you!â You smiled and hugged back, âItâs been a while, huh? Life has been hectic.â Carla laughs at this, âYouâre telling me, your brother told me all about you and Buck. Moving in together? Thatâs a big step!âÂ
âWe were practically living together anyway, and if Iâm being honest, Eddie is probably just relieved to have his couch back. I was starting to get on his nerves.â You explained to Carla, and she chuckled. âWell, I wish you all the best. Iâm gonna get Chris inside, and Iâll let you run off to work. It was lovely seeing you.â You hug Chris goodbye and bid farewell to Carla before getting into your car and beginning your journey to your place of work. In front of you, the amber light turned to red and you stopped. You could see that traffic was beginning to build up on the other side of the junction, and you didnât want to be late. You sighed, and made the decision to take an alternate route, so when the light turned green, you indicated and pulled out to begin taking your turning. You let out a sudden gasp before you could even properly register the car coming towards you. All you could do was attempt to brace for the impact, and so you did.Â
A loud crunching sound surrounded you, followed by the feeling of being thrown as your car was barrelled into. You closed your eyes tightly, scared of what was next. You didnât have the courage to open them again until the car steadied. The first thing you could see was the airbag in front of you, despite not feeling it deploy moments before. You could smell the burning of the tyres, outside of the car, you could hear the panicked voices of bystanders, but all you could focus on was the blood that was now spread across your arms, unsure of where it was actually coming from. You werenât in pain, at least you couldnât feel any in that moment. Is that what shock feels like? You couldnât think, but your eyes got heavy and you fought your hardest not to succumb to the darkness.Â
Back at the station, the call was only just coming in. The alarm blared throughout the station, alerting the team to the call. They were quick to jump into action, grabbing their gear and piling themselves into their assigned trucks. Eddie and Buck sat beside each other, speaking casually between themselves about what had happened earlier. âJust give her some time, sheâll come around. For her, two of the people she loves most are at risk everyday, youâve gotta imagine it canât be easy. Itâs a risky job as it is, and when you put yourself into riskier situations without needing to, it decreases the chance of making it home at the end. Sheâs scared. Just talk to her.â Eddie attempted to reassure Buck, who was feeling terrible. He couldnât shake the image of your face from his mind, the face that showed disappointment in his actions. Before Buck could respond, the truck halted and the team jumped out, ready to give help where needed. Buck stopped in his tracks as an all too familiar car was crushed before him. He tried not to panic, hoping that his suspicions were wrong. His eyes flicked to the number plate and his heart stopped. His feet were moving before his mind could catch up. He shouted your name, drawing Eddies attention. It took Eddie a few seconds to process what was happening. You had not long left the station, it couldnât possibly be you. Right?
Buck arrived to your car first, nausea washed over him as he caught sight of your injured body. âY/N? Hey, itâs me. Iâm here.â You werenât completely aware of what was happening, your eyes opened with a struggle. Your movements were weak as you turned your head to look at him. âBuck?â You spoke quietly, not completely aware of the situation at hand. âDonât move, try and keep still.â He tried to remain as calm as he could, he didnât want to scare you any more, he was terrified himself. Eddie ran right over to the car, his heart racing as he feared what he would find. His first instinct was to check the back seat, relief finally washing over him as he saw no sign of Christopher. Still, he needed to make sure, âY/N, was Chris in the car?âÂ
You shook your head, âCarlas.â Eddie felt a weight off his shoulders, knowing his son was safe. The weight soon came back when he saw the condition you were in. Your eyes rolled back, and you fell into unconsciousness. Bobby was running the scene, assigning Hen and Chim to medically assist you, and he grabbed the gear to support Buck and Eddie in freeing you from the car. Buck didnât want to let go of your hand, but he knew he had to in order to get you out sooner. The team worked tirelessly, ensuring to be as careful as possible. Bobby handed the halligan to Buck, âBuck, you focus on getting the doors open. Diaz, grab the saw and be on standby.âÂ
Buck groaned as he tried to pry the doors open, with no results, âRoofs too dented Cap, I canât get it open.â Bobby nodded, and turned to Eddie, âSaws it is. Get in there Diaz, Buck, you too.â The roof was off in no time, Hen and Chim jumped straight in and equipped you with a neck brace, and got the back board in place to move you. Hen checked your vitals quickly, trying to make sure you were steady enough to be moved. âIâve got a faint pulse, we gotta move.â They moved you out of you car quickly, and transferred you to the ambulance. âTrauma to the abdomen, possible internal bleeding. Iâll let the hospital know weâre en route.â Buck jumps into the back of the ambulance with Chimney, and instantly takes your hand in his. Hen places herself into the drivers seat, putting the ambulance into 911 mode and begins the journey as fast as she can to the nearest hospital.Â
Buck hated seeing you like this. He was filled with anxiety, the nausea constantly there as he studied your visible injuries. His heart sank with every second that went by, the more he thought about you laying there almost lifeless, expecting you to flatline any second now. âIâm sorry baby, we canât leave things like this. I need you to get through this so I can apologise to you. I know Iâm not the easiest person to love, and I also know that Iâm the biggest pain in the ass, but I love you, and I need you. Please.â Buck sobbed as he held your hand tighter. Time seemed to be going extremely slow for Buck, yet moments later Hen was pulling up at the hospital. You were rushed in, Hen spewed all your information to the nurses as you were wheeled in and handed over. Buck, Hen and Chimney stood there as you were wheeled out of sight. One of the nurses stopped Buck from running after you, and he sat defeated in the waiting room. The rest of the team arrived soon after, Eddies face was similar to Bucks. Eddie spoke first, âAny update?â The lack of response from Buck had him on edge, fearing the worst. Luckily, Chimney filled the silence. âThereâs no update, but no news it almost always good news.âÂ
Eddie placed his hand on Bucks shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze before sitting down next to him. âHowâre you holding up?â Buck didnât look up, instead he kept his head in his hands. He couldnât respond, he couldnât trust his voice not to give out. His leg bounced anxiously, and despite not talking, his feelings were painfully obvious. Eddie could empathise, he knew exactly what was going through Bucks mind. It was happening to him too, but he concealed it as much as he could, knowing Buck needed him. âYou know, each time weâre sat in these chairs, it never gets easier. You donât have to talk, I get it. I think you should know that Iâm right here for you, I understand. Y/N is going to be okay, that I have no doubt about. Sheâs my sister, and us Diazâs, we donât back down. We fight.â Eddie continues talking, and heâs not sure whether heâs trying to convince Buck or himself.Â
A few hours go by, and the team are waiting as patiently as they can for an update. Maddie had arrived some time ago, and was sat with Buck. She was not only there to support her brother, but also her brothers girlfriend, who Maddie had claimed as her best friend shortly after meeting her. Bobby hands a coffee to Buck and Eddie, who hadnât moved from their seats since arriving. This changed moments later as a nurse approached, making them stand. Buck felt as if his legs were going to give way any second. The nurse cleared her throat, âSheâs stable. Sheâs incredibly lucky to have made it out with the injuries she did, it couldâve been a lot worse. Sheâs awake, if youâd like to go see her.âÂ
Buck didnât stick around to hear whatever else the nurse had to say, he darted through the corridor until he got to your room. He stopped to take a deep breath, and stepped inside. He was scared to look at you, all he could picture was you covered in blood still. His head shot up as he heard a voice, your voice to be exact, âBuck?âÂ
He was by your bedside in a blink of an eye, taking your hand in his. His eyes wandered over your body, taking in each of your injuries. His heart broke a little more with each one. He finally looked you in the eyes, and thatâs when it hit him. His eyes filled up with tears, âY/NâŠâ
âHey, donât cry. Iâm fine, see. Iâm right here.â You gave his hand a squeeze, trying to give him the reassurance he needed. Buck took a seat close to your bed, your hand in his and against his lips. You move your hand up to his cheek and wipe his tears, Buck practically melted into your touch. âI really thought I had lost you.âÂ
âIâm right here, Iâm not going anywhere. I need to apologise for my reaction earlier, that couldâve been our last conversation earlier and left without saying goodbye, or telling you how much I love you.âÂ
Buck shook his head, âYou have nothing to apologise for, Iâm the one that owes you an apology. Iâm sorry that Iâm not more careful when Iâm out on a call, I shouldnât be that reckless. Iâm sorry that I canât promise to walk through that door every night, safe and unscathed. I can appreciate how you feel now, and I promise Iâll try my hardest to be more careful. I love you, and I donât want you ever feeling anything close to what Iâve felt today.â You wince as you sit up, making Buck panic. You push through the pain, and pull Buck to you. âCome here.â He stands from his chair and leans down to kiss you quickly. He carefully moves your hair from your face, ensuring he doesnât touch any of your cuts or bruises.Â
âI love you too, and even though Iâm petrified that you wonât make it home one day, I trust that youâll try everything in your power to make sure you do. Iâm proud of you, Evan.â As you spoke, Buck smiled to himself. A sense of relief washed over him. Before he could respond, you continued. âSo⊠does this mean I can finally get a new car now?âÂ
Buck chuckled, âYouâre a pain in the ass, Diaz.âÂ
âTakes one to know one, Buck.â
A/N: So, I think I rewrote this like 10 times. Its been a while since I've done any writing, so please bare with me while I figure out my writing style again. Any criticism is welcome, I appreciate the feedback.

All Those Who Go Unnoticed
Evan Buckley x Female Reader
Summary: Evan Buckley has always been left behind and forgotten about. What happens when someone finally decides to stay?
TW: Mentions of neglect and self-deprecating thoughts, angst, friends to lovers.
Evan Buckley was born to serve a purpose that he could not fulfill. His parents only had another child in a futile attempt to save his older brother Daniel. After his brother had passed away, Buck's parents treated him like he was a waste of space. Everything he did was wrong and he couldn't seem to ever find himself in their good graces.
Buck relied on his older sister Maddie for years until she eventually left him behind to start a life of her own. Buck left home as soon as he could, but struggled to find himself for years. He bounced between jobs in search of something that could make him feel like he mattered.
Everything fell into place when he decided to become a firefighter.
Buck loved his job at the 118, he saved lives everyday with some of the most amazing people he had ever met. He found a family that valued him and treated him how he deserved to be treated. Despite having everything he had spent his life searching for, Buck still felt like nothing he did was good enough.
He could have been smarter. He could have been faster. He could have done more.
Buck had never told anyone how critical he could be of himself. It was something that he always dealt with, definitely a mindset created by his parents.
Buck always felt like he had to prove himself and show everyone that he had value. It was a never-ending quest that weighed on him heavily.
Y/N had quickly become Buck's best friend when he joined the 118 all those years ago. She was a firefighter-paramedic and she was great at her job. Y/N never doubted herself and Buck admired her tenacity, especially when people challenged her in the field.
Y/N and Buck hardly went a day without seeing each other. He felt like his day wasn't complete until he talked to her.
They were the kind of friends that could have a 4-hour long video call while doing chores around the house or spend all day just chatting about nothing in particular. They knew everything there was to know about each other and seemed to share a brain at times.
Buck had never felt seen until he met Y/N.
Y/N always brought him into conversations or found her way over to him when she could tell he was pulling back. Y/N knew about how hard Buck could be on himself, she could tell when he was overthinking and was able to pull him out of that mindset.
"You need to be kinder to yourself, Buck," Y/N had told him one night when he was alone in the locker room after a rough shift.
"I'll try," He had replied.
Buck thought about that interaction quite often, he was always beating himself up for things he had little control over and it needed to end.
It was a hard cycle to break, but he was trying, and he was trying because of her.
...
Buck watched Y/N talk animatedly to Hen and Karen about a book they had all been reading. They laughed loudly at something she said before Hen began sharing her own thoughts on the book.
Y/N looked over, locking eyes with Buck from across the yard and sending him a small wave with a smile. He waved back, watching her as she returned to her conversation.
Bobby took a seat at the patio table beside Buck, "So, when are you gonna ask her out?" He questioned.
Buck's eyebrows raised, "Oh, no, I was just-," He started, "Save the excuse, I can tell that you like her as more than a friend," Bobby said with a knowing smile.
Buck looked down at the table with a sigh, picking at the label on his beer bottle with his thumb nail, "She's way too good for me," Buck said.
"What makes you say that?" Bobby asked.
Buck shrugged, "She's amazing and I'm just me... I don't deserve her," He stated.
"Buck, you're a good guy but you need to know when to get out of your own way. Don't overthink it, just ask her out. I'm almost 100% sure she would say yes if you asked her out on a date," Bobby assured.
"Almost 100%?" Buck asked.
"99.9% sure," Bobby amended.
Buck looked over at her to find her making her way over to the cooler full of drinks. He stood up from his seat and made his way over to her.
"Hey," He greeted.
"Hey, I was wondering when you were gonna stop hiding away in the corner," Y/N teased.
"Can I ask you something?" Buck questioned, "Of course," Y/N replied.
"Um, you can totally tell me if I'm looking at this the wrong way, but is there something- I don't know... Is there something more than friendship between us?" He asked.
"Do you want there to be something more?" Y/N asked.
"I think I do," Buck answered hesitantly.
Relief washed over him when a smile broke out across her face, "I do too," She said.
"Oh my god, you have no idea how fast my heart is beating right now," Buck said, huffing out a soft laugh.
Y/N rested her hand on his chest, feeling his heart pound against her palm, "You really weren't kidding. Do you need to sit down?" She asked.
"No, I'm good. I just- Will you go out on a date with me?" He questioned, resting his hand over her's on his chest.
"Of course I'll go out with you, Buck," Y/N replied.
...
Y/N and Buck had been dating for almost a year, she had moved into his apartment and everything seemed amazing. Buck still felt like he was waiting for the day she found someone better and left him in the dust, but she chose him each and every day.
Buck had never felt like the center of attention, he always went above and beyond to be noticed, but it was effortless with Y/N. Buck felt like he was being seen after a lifetime of feeling invisible and it was the best feeling in the world. He couldn't think of a way to repay Y/N for bringing him to life again.
Until he did.
He sat at a table in the busy coffee shop, a mug of coffee sat on the table in front of him. Buck felt jittery and he had yet to take a single sip of the hot beverage, instead choosing to watch the door closely. Buck straightened up in his seat as Maddie made her way into the establishment. She walked through the tables before sitting down in the chair across from him.
"Where's Y/N? Is she not coming?" Maddie asked.
"Um, no, actually. I kinda needed some time to talk to you... Alone," Buck said hesitantly, grimacing at his own awkwardness.
Maddie gasped, "Are you going to propose to Y/N?" She asked.
Buck's face fell, "How did you know that? I didn't even say anything yet," He questioned.
"I just knew," Maddie grinned, "Aw, Buck, this is so exciting!" She said.
"Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a while now. I mean, with everything we've gone through this year, I don't want to spend anymore time not being together, y'know?" Buck questioned.
"I do," Maddie said.
"I think she's my person, Maddie," Buck admitted.
Maddie smiled, her eyes glossing over with happy tears, "She definitely is, Evan," She said.
"I was wondering if you had some time today to help me pick out a ring. I've looked around a little bit, but I'm kinda useless at this stuff," He said.
"Of course I'll help. Do you have any idea what kind of ring she may want?" Maddie asked.
"I think she likes the ones with the jewel that's shaped like an egg," Buck said slowly.
"This is going to be a very long and expensive day for you, little brother," Maddie sighed with a smile.

shot - e. buckley
evan buckley x gn!reader
summary: a visit to the 118 goes wrong when a grief-stricken man with a gun storms in.
w/c: 2.4k
â ïž TW: gun, shooting
You made your way to the 118 firehouse, a container of cheesecake cradled in your arms. You'd baked it especially for them, making sure to save an extra slice for Chimney, who had raved about it last time.
As you stepped inside, Buck greeted you with his signature smile, his blue eyes lighting up as he noticed the dessert in your hands. "You really didn't have to," he said, pulling you into a hug. "I wanted to," you replied, enjoying the comfort of his embrace. "Besides, Chimney practically begged for more last time."
Buck laughed, taking the cheesecake from you and leading you upstairs to set it on the table where the rest of the crew was gathered. "You should stay awhile," he suggested. "At least until the next call." It didn't take much convincing. Spending time with Buck and his team always made you feel like you were part of something special - they were like a second family to you.
But the peaceful atmosphere didn't last.
About fifteen minutes later, a shout echoed from downstairs, shattering the mood. Everyone turned their heads toward the commotion, a collective unease settling over the group. Everyone exchanged wary glances before rising to investigate. As you all gathered at the top of the staircase, what you saw sent a cold chill down your spine. A man stood at the bottom, brandishing a gun, his voice trembling with rage and desperation. "You killed my wife!" he screamed, his face contorted in agony. "Now you're all going to pay!" The man's behavior sent a wave of fear through you as he ordered everyone downstairs.
Your heart pounded in your chest, but you couldn't afford to panic. Slowly, you began descending the stairs with the others, taking note of the man's shaky hands, the sweat beading on his forehead, and the wild look in his eyes. You leaned toward Buck, your voice barely above a whisper. "Look at him closely, babe. He looks like he's under the influence of something."
Buck followed your gaze, his brows furrowing as he observed the man more closely. You continue, "His hands are trembling a lot, he's sweating excessively and his eyes look wide and panicked. That can't be normal." Buck nodded in agreement, whispering back, "You're right. If he really is under the influence, it makes this ten times more dangerous because he could be unpredictable. We need to be careful."
Before you could say anything else, the man's eyes snapped to you. "What are you whispering about?" he demanded. "N-nothing," you stuttered, hating how fear made your voice falter. "Better be," he growled, his eyes darting between you and Buck.
Buck gently put his hand on the small of your back, his touch bringing some comfort to you. â"It's okay, baby. We'll be fine," he tried to reassure you, but he didn't seem so certain himself.
Once you were downstairs, everyone spread out slightly, but Buck stayed close, his touch never leaving you. The man's breathing was erratic, and he was clearly unstable. You kept glancing at Buck, who kept his hand lightly on your back, a silent promise that he wouldn't let anything happen to you. "Stay calm," Buck whispered again, his voice low and controlled, even though you could feel his pulse quicken through the light pressure of his hand.
The man's gaze darted between the firefighters, paranoia swirling in his bloodshot eyes. His grip on the gun tightened, knuckles white against the metal. "You think I'm bluffing?" he growled, eyes wild. "You think I won't do it?"
âBehind you, Eddie slowly moved to your right, his movements so subtle that you almost didn't notice. You could tell he was preparing for something, but you weren't sure what. âChimney tried to reason with the man, "We're not the ones who hurt your wife, man. Let's talk about this, figure out what happened. There's no need for this to get worse."
âThe man's hand shook even more violently, the gun bobbing in the air. "Shut up! You don't know anything!"
Hen had positioned herself slightly to the left, closer to the phone. The man glanced away for a moment, his focus faltering. âBut then, suddenly, he snapped back to you and Buck, eyes narrowing. "You two," he snarled, pointing the gun directly at you. "You were whispering. Come here."
Buck stepped forward in front of you, shielding you instinctively. "Leave her out of this. She's not the one you want," he said, his voice dangerously steady, but there was a tremor underneath that only you could hear. The man's eyes darted between the two of you, flickering with uncertainty. His breathing grew more erratic by the second. You knew Buck was ready to move if he had to, but the wrong move could end disastrously.
âYou took a deep breath, trying to keep your voice steady as you started to speak, hoping to diffuse the situation as best as you could. "We don't want any trouble. Please, just put the gun down. We can talk this out, okay?"
âThe man wavered for a split second, his grip faltering. His eyes flickered to you, and for a moment, you saw some uncertainty, or even hesitation. His grip on the gun loosened slightly, his stance wavering. You hoped this would de-escalate or else this would all spiral out of control.â "You don't have to do this," you said softly, keeping your hands where he could see them. "Whatever happened to your wife, it wasn't their fault. They're just here to help."
âFor a moment, the man looked confused at your words. He probably assumed you were also a firefighter but he seemed to realise that you weren't. Then, his face twisted in anger. "Help? You call letting her die helping?" His voice cracked, desperation leaking into his words. He looked over at the rest of the 118. "I trusted you guys. She trusted you!"
âEddie inched a little closer, but the man suddenly noticed the movement, snapping his attention back to Eddie. "Stop!" he yelled, pointing the gun wildly between all of you. "Stay where you are! I swear, I'll shoot!" âEddie froze, hands up, and you felt your heart hammering in your chest. Buck stepped closer to you again, his body tense, ready to move if needed. â"Listen," Buck said, his voice calm but firm. "We're sorry about what happened to your wife. But this isn't going to help. This isn't going to bring her back. Please, let's just talk."
âThe man's face contorted with pain, his eyes glossy, filled with unshed tears. His arm was trembling so badly that you feared he might pull the trigger by accident. His voice wavered, "I-I don't know what to do anymore..."
âHen, who'd managed to get a little closer to the phone, locked eyes with you. She signalled for you to keep him talking. The longer you stalled, the better chance you had of getting help. âTaking a breath, you spoke gently. "I can't imagine how much you're hurting. Losing someone like that... it's unbearable. But this isn't what your wife would want."
âHe lightly flinched at that, and you knew you'd struck something deep. Did you say the wrong thing? You hoped you hadn't or you could end up dead - or even worse, one of the 118. "You don't know what she'd want," he muttered, though the conviction in his voice was fading.
â"I don't," you admitted. "But I can tell you loved her. And I know that if she was here right now, she'd want you to be safe. She wouldn't want you to throw your life away."
âTears slipped down his cheeks, and his hand shook violently, the gun lowering just slightly. But then, almost out of nowhere, a sharp ring pierced the air - the phone. âThe man jumped, startled by the sound, and in his panic, his finger tightened on the trigger.
Bang!
Everything happened in a blur. You felt Buck pulling you to the ground as the shot rang out. There was shouting, movement all around, and you didn't even know where the bullet went. Your ears rang from the sound, and your heart felt like it was about to burst out of your chest.
âWhen you finally managed to focus again, you saw Eddie and Bobby rushing toward the man, disarming him as he stumbled backward in shock. Hen and Chimney were already moving to check on everyone.
âBuck looked down at you, still shielding you even though the danger had passed. Until he felt something. âBuck pulled away slightly, his eyes widening in horror as he noticed the blood soaking through your shirt. "No, no, no..." he muttered, his hands trembling as he pressed down on your abdomen. You hadn't even realized you'd been hit, the shock of everything numbing the pain.
â"Buck?" your voice came out weaker than you intended and the moment you heard it, the reality started to sink in. The bullet must have hit you. You tried to focus, but the pain was spreading, sharp and hot.
â"Hey, stay with me," Buck said urgently, panic creeping into his voice. "You're gonna be okay. Chim! Hen!" His voice cracked as he called for help, but you could barely focus on him anymore. The world felt fuzzy at the edges, the sound of everyone around you starting to blur.
âChimney was beside you in an instant, his hands moving quickly to assess the wound. "Alright, we've got you," Chim said, his voice steadier than Buck's, but you could see the worry etched in his face. Hen was already rushing to grab supplies and Eddie tried to move Buck to the side but Buck refused to budge, his hand still pressed against the wound, his eyes locked on yours. "Stay with me, please," Buck whispered, his voice breaking. You could see the desperation in his eyes, his fear for you palpable.
âChimney spoke more urgently now. "Buck, you need to let us work. We need to stop the bleeding." âBuck hesitated, his grip tightening as if letting go of you would mean losing you, but finally, he stepped back, allowing Chimney to take over. Hen was back in seconds, placing pressure on the wound as Chimney worked quickly, his face calm but focused.
âYou felt Buck's hand grasp yours, his fingers trembling. "You're gonna be fine," he kept saying, over and over, as if trying to convince himself as much as you. But your body felt heavy, the pain sharp. âYou tried to speak, to tell him you were okay, but the words wouldn't come out. Instead, you just squeezed his hand weakly, hoping it was enough.
â"Hang in there," Hen said as she prepared an IV, her hands moving swiftly. "We'll get you to the hospital soon."
âEverything felt like it was moving in slow motion. The world around you was dimming, the edges of your vision going dark. You could hear the sirens in the distance, you knew help was coming but it felt so far away. Buck's voice was the only thing grounding you, the only thing keeping you from slipping away entirely.
â"I love you," Buck said, his voice barely above a whisper, the words laced with fear. "Please... don't leave me." âYou tried to hold on to that, to his voice, to the warmth of his hand, but the pain was overwhelming. The last thing you saw before the darkness took over was your boyfriend's face, tear-streaked and terrified, as the world faded to black.
(TIMESKIP - the next day)
When you finally woke up, the harsh lights above blurred into focus. Your body felt heavy, your chest tight with pain. For a moment, everything was hazy, and you couldn't remember how you got there, but then it hit you like a truck. The gunman, the shot, Buck's terrified voice.
âYou blinked, your vision clearing just enough to see Buck sat beside you, his eyes red and puffy from crying. His hand was wrapped around yours, his grip so tight you wondered if he'd been holding it like that the whole time.
â"Buck," you whispered, your voice weak. The simple act of speaking made your throat burn, but you needed to let him know you were here, okay - or at least alive. â"You're awake," he breathed, his voice thick with emotion. He sat up straighter, leaning closer to you. "Thank God, you're awake."
âYou managed a weak smile, though every movement felt like a huge effort. "Hey," you whisper, "It's okay, Buck. I'm okay."
âBuck let out a breathy laugh, though it was laced with a kind of relief and disbelief. "You scared the hell out of me," he said, his thumb brushing over the back of your hand. "I thought-" He swallowed hard, his voice cracking slightly. "I thought I was going to lose you."
âBuck looked like he was barely holding it together. "Baby, your heart stopped. It-" he paused, his voice shaking. "But they brought you back. You're okay now. You're going to be okay." He said it like he's reassuring himself. âYou glanced down at yourself, seeing the bandages across your abdomen. It hurt but the pain was nothing compared to the fear you had felt before everything went black.
â"I was so scared," Buck continued, his voice breaking as he squeezed your hand again. "I couldn't do anything but watch you bleed, and I..." He trailed off, shaking his head as if trying to shake away the memory. "I don't know what I would've done if we lost you."
â"Shh," you murmured, managing to lift your other hand weakly to touch his face. "I'm right here." âHe closed his eyes at the touch, leaning into your hand. "I love you," he whispered again, like he needed you to know, like you might forget if he doesn't say it enough. "You mean everything to me."
âTears stung your eyes, the overwhelming emotions mixing with the pain in your body. "I love you too, Buck," you whispered back. The words were weak, but they were all you could give him in that moment.
âHe smiled, though it was shaky, brushing his thumb over your knuckles. "Just rest, okay? The doctors said you're going to need time to heal."
âYou nodded slowly, exhaustion starting to pull at you again. The pain meds were dulling the ache in your body but your body was craving rest. As you closed your eyes again, Buck's hand stayed firmly in yours. He promised himself he would stay with you however long you needed him to.

My Soul's Keeper
Pairing: Evan Buckley x fem!reader
"You know, for someone who questions my fashion choices most of the time, you sure do love to wear my clothes a lot."
Y/n looked up from the pancake batter she was whipping, to find Evan leaning on the door frame looking at her with a raised brow. She just offered him a sheepish smile in return.
With a breathy laugh and a shake of his head, Evan pushed himself off the door and walked up to her. He stood behind her, slowly creeping his arms around her waist and suddenly without a warning, he twists her around to face him.
"Evan Buckley! You're ruining my deep, spiritual morning routine!" Y/n looked up at him with sass, but the humour was clear in her voice.
"You're listening to Sabrina Carpenter and making pancakes". Evan countered.
"And that exactly happens to be the deep, spiritual morning routine I need. And now if you'll let me be, I'll be moving on to find the most important step of spirituality. Chocolate" y/n nodded to her own statement solemnly.
"Oh really?" Evan asked as he placed both his hands on her sides, caging her in. He leaned in closer to her, flexing his muscles in the process. He noticed with a smirk as y/n's eyes narrowed at his actions, a need evident in them, flickering from his biceps to his chest, travelling down his abs.
Y/n licked her lips and gulped for air. Suddenly there was not enough air in the room. With great difficulty, she managed to look up at him and there he was, smiling down at her, knowing exactly well the effect he was having on her.
"Shouldn't you put on a shirt or something? What indecency is this?" She somehow managed to croak out.
"The shirt you stole off my bed and are now wearing?" Evan asked with mock innocence.
"It's not my fault. They are more comfortable". Y/n pouted at him.
Evan shook his head with a smile and playfully rolled his eyes at her. If he was being honest with himself, he loved seeing her in his clothes. It twisted at his heartstrings in ways he could never explain. Y/n herself had made her way into his heart in the most unexpected way and was now a comfortable resident there. If it were upto Evan, he would have it this way forever.
He looked down at her again to find the most gorgeous pair of y/e/c eyes staring back at him with all the love in the world. It literally took his breath away. One look at her and Evan knew he would do anything for her. Anything to protect that look of hers.
He felt her love for him coursing through his veins. Y/n had always been that for him. His serenity, his soul's keeper. She made him feel whole in himself. Feel complete. She had loved his childhood traumas away. She had loved his insecurities away. She had loved him on days he found it difficult to love himself.
With all the overwhelming emotions surging through him, Evan couldn't help but lean down and kiss her. He moved towards her, eliminating even the tiniest of space between them, hands pressing into the back of her waist, pulling her in, even if it was physically not possible anymore.
Y/n melted into the kiss just like she had the first time they kissed. Nothing had changed from then. The moment his soft lips touched her, promising love in its eternity, butterflies erupted in her stomach. She felt lightheaded and dizzy in his hold, warmth filling her heart. She looped her arms through his neck, softly pulling him into her, her hands already making their way to his hair, her fingers tangling into his curls, drawing soothing circles.
Evan had her pinned between the counter and himself, all of him gently pressed into her. He brought up his right hand and placed it beneath her chin, nudging her forward, further into him.
Reluctantly, they pulled apart a few seconds later, coming up for air. She slowly drew her hands down from his hair, cupping his face in her palm. Evan took her hands in his, kissing them before fluttering kisses all across her face. As y/n drew her head back, laughing at the tickles from the light stubble he was growing, Evan lost no time to explore the exposed skin of her neck, softly sucking into her neck. With a moan, y/n drops her head further back, her hands pressing into his hard chest.
Suddenly her moan turned into a groan as she smelled something burning. "Pancake", y/n softly muttered, slowly coming to her senses.
"Yes, waffles?" Evan replied back.
"No, my pancakes!" Y/n pushed Evan off of her and turned around to see her first batch of pancakes burning on one side. She runs around to salvage them, the best she could.
"This is YOUR fault!" She pointed the spatula at him in accusation.
Evan raised his hands in mock surrender. "Hey, you wore my shirt" he grins. Y/n just rolled her eyes, but the smile on her face spoke of a story where she was not complaining, not even a little bit.
"Can I help with something?"
"Um, you could cut the fruits, and I can get the pancakes done by then?"
"Okay" Evan replied and made his way to the fridge. "Hey, can you get some bananas and strawberries if you are out grocery shopping today?"
"Sure" y/n replies. And they settle into a routine of preparing breakfast, before getting dressed for work, like they have done so many times before.
Later that day:
Blurry lights. That's all y/n could make out. She rubbed at her eyes, tried shaking her head a little, trying to get a better view of what's infront of her, or is it... are th- are the lights... above her? Why is everything so fuzzy? And why can't she get up?
The light blinked again. She tried to focus, but with each passing moment, her vision darkened and the dull ache in the back of her head started throbbing more and more. She tried to get up, but it felt like she had no control over her own body. Is this a dream? Is she having a nightmare? Will she wake up any minute now? She was hoping she would because an overwhelming sense of pain started creeping up her legs, down to her abdomen.
One more time, she said to herself. She took a deep breath and focused, or tried to. She could make out things a little bit more now. Her eyes fell on the bananas and strawberries, among other groceries, next to her. Crushed and destroyed.
Her eyes focused on the yellow colour of the fruit, before it all went black and darkness took her in.

You're preparing dinner when your phone rings - the ringtone you'd picked specifically for Eddie.
âWhat's up?â You ask, putting him on speaker so you can keep your focus on the vegetables you're chopping.
âCan you come over? To the station?â He doesn't sound relaxed - as you'd expected - but instead he sounds stressed and nervous, speaking hushed and fast. âUhm, yeah. What's going on, Eddie?â
You hear him clearing his throat but he doesn't answer your question, âJust please come over.â Now you were actually freaked out. Wasn't he in the middle of a shift? Why would he need you to come over? Chris was at school and all of your mutual friends were with him.
Before you can try getting him to talk and explain what's going on he hangs up, leaving you in the dark.
You shove the vegetables into a Tupperware box and store them in the fridge before grabbing your keys and hurrying to your car.
When you arrive about ten minutes later you almost forget to lock your car, already calling for Eddie. Noting how instead of the usual buzzing around of several people, the firehouse seemed empty.
âEddie?â You call out again, walking between the firetrucks with your phone clutched in your hand as you'd forgotten your purse in the hurry.
Huffing when you can't find him you stop walking and look around again, âEddie! I came as quickly as I could, where are you and what was so urgent?â You hope he's the one hearing you and not some colleague you'd never met because that would just be embarrassing.
He looks over the railing of the loft, a pinched expression but otherwise fine expression on his face. He didn't seem to be in pain nor in any haste - you were getting gradually more annoyed by the fact you had sped here, expecting some grand emergency.
âCome up,â he says and licks his lips, a habit of his when he is nervous. You squint suspiciously and walk up the stairs.
When you do, he stands at the end of the stairs, blocking your vision from the rest of the loft.
âEddie? What the hell is going on?â
He swallows and you can see some sweat beading on his forehead and temple. Worriedly you put the back of your hand against his forehead, not feeling any high temperature which simply confuses you more. He stares basically blankly at you before finally moving again.
âBaby,â he starts and at any other time you would've immediately smiled and melted into a puddle of adoration for this man, but right now you're slightly pissed he'd stressed you for seemingly no reason.
âWe've been together for almost two years.â He keeps going and you nod slowly. What is he getting at?
âI love you. More than anything else.â You smile and chuckle a bit, âExcluding ChrisâŠâ He looks down with a short laugh and nod, âHe loves you too.â
âEddie, this is super cute and wholesome but why did you want me to come here for that? Any near death experiences I should know about that prompted this?â
He bites his lip and shakes his head. He slowly and gently intertwines his hand with yours and kisses the back of yours, holding eye contact. It makes you smile and fluster, looking to the side with a shy smile.
âThere's no one in this world I could imagine being a better woman to me than you. You complete me and Chris. And I want to⊠I want to ask you something.â
It feels so surreal what he's hinting at that you don't believe your own intuition, simply wiping your eyes, âEddie, don't make me cry I'll look like a panda,â you warn for a lack of a reaction, hoping your mascara at least survived the first few tears.
He chuckles and then slowly gets on one knee, your hand still cradled in his. You can't contain your sob when he kneels, making it clear what he's going to ask you.
Instead of asking the question he looks over his shoulder where Chris starts walking your way, a sign in his hands with that exact question on it. When Chris stands next to Eddie and looks at you with that adorable smile you can't help but sob, quickly reaching out to pull him into your arms and kiss the top of his head.
Catching Eddie's gaze you nod your head and bury further into Chris, âYes, yes, a thousand times yes!â
The boy in your arms giggles and drops the sign to wrap his arms around your waist. âTold you, dad!â He calls and you laugh tearily.
âYeah, you did, bud.â Eddie smiles fondly and wraps his arms around both of you. You see Buck motioning Chris to come to him, which he gladly does, considering Buck is still Christophers hero, and you hide your face behind a hand as Eddie slowly slides a ring onto your left hand.
There's an applause behind you from the rest of your closest friends, Chris sitting on Bucks hip as he giggles.
However you're focused entirely on the man in front of you, his hazel eyes teary as well when he kisses your knuckle and leans his forehead against yours.
âTe amo mucho, mi amor,â he mumbles against your forehead and kisses it, making you laugh happily. He wipes the last of your tears tenderly and you look at him with pure adoration.
âI love you so much.â He smiles and someone yells - you're pretty sure it's Buck because a smaller, high pitched voice echoes the same word - âkiss!â.
You shake your head in amusement but are caught off guard when Eddie surges forward and passionately and deeply kisses you, one hand holding you by your neck and the other still holding your left hand.
âEw,â Chris says loud enough for everyone to burst into laughter and you and your now fiancĂ© to laugh as well and break the kiss.
âWhat?â He asks offended when Buck pinches his side (though he looks like he could very well be the one to make Chris voice their shared distaste for the PDA).
You smile at the people you considered family, especially when Bobby clears his throat and points to the already set table, âDinnerâs ready, so let's eat!â
You sit between Eddie and Chris, the former's hand never leaving your thigh, yours laying on top.
âI just realized this means we're gonna have to deal with their PDA every day nowâŠâ Buck mentions, looking genuinely scared.
Hen seemingly kicks his shin under the table because he yelps and flinches before pouting and raising his hands in mock surrender. And wow, you couldn't be happier.

Buck x reader - just a minute
Hi! I stumbled across your blog and I absolutely love the way you portray you buck and was wondering if you would consider writing a fic with him. No pressure. Maybe reader is a police officer and buck and reader are on a scene together and spend a few minutes together? Just like a quick hug and kiss? - @manyfandomsfanvergent đ
You were one of the first people on the scene, and you walked over to Athena.
âWe need to separate these two, stick her in your cruiser.â
âYes Sarg.â
You took the woman from her and you walked over to your car and you sat her in the back and walked back over to where Athena was tending to a man.
She stepped away and looked at you.
âOne hell of an argument.â You said.
âThatâs not even his wife, his wifeâs sat in the back of my car.â
You looked to your car in confusion then back to Athena.
âThen who the hell is that?â
âHis girlfriend, her and the wife found out about one another, teamed up against him.â
You whistled a little bit and looked at the man and turned back to Athena.
âWouldnât wanna be him right now.â
Athena chuckled a little bit, and she gestured to the fire engine that was just pulling up.
âAnd I wouldnât want to be you right now.â She laughed.
Before you could even turn around, you felt an arm around your shoulder and someone kiss your temple and you smiled a little bit.
âHello officer.â He greeted.
âFirefighter Buckley, you have work to be doing.â
He grinned down at you and moved away to start working on the two cars that were crashed into another.
While they were working you began taking statements and gathering all the evidence that you needed.
Heading back to your car, you opened the driver side door and leant inside.
âI donât regret it.â The woman huffed.
âI bet you donât.â
With that, you closed door and you turned around.
Seeing your boyfriend between the ambulance and fire truck putting something away, you wondered over and leant on the truck with a smirk.
âHello Evan.â
He turned around and grinned from ear to ear and opened his arms.
âHello darling.â
You walked over and wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging him, and he picked you up, twirling you around a few times before he set you down.
He placed a hand on the side of your face and he leant down, softly kissing you.
You smiled and kissed him back before you pulled away.
âYou should be working.â You scolded lightly.
âI am working.â He beamed.
Laughing a little bit, you rested your head on his chest.
âI finish in a few hours, Iâll come by, bring you some of your favourite takeaway, howâs that?â You asked.
âYou are a god send.â
You grinned and jumped up, kissing him again before you began to walk backwards.
âSee you later Buckley.â
âSee you around (L/N).â
Grinning at him, you made your way back over to your car and leant against it as you began to read through your notes.
And you were fully aware of everywhere Buck went, he would watched you as he passed by

Bruises and Surprises
Summary: When Eddie is acting off and then comes home late Evan and Y/N start to worry. But when they find out why he's been acting off, it causes some problems.
Pairing: Eddie Diaz x fem!reader x Evan Buckley
Wordcount: 2.5k
Warnings: angst, fluff, swearing possibly, mentions of violence and injuries
A/N: This was inspired by @megalony Late Night Fights. I hope you guys enjoy this, thank you for the support.
____
The four of them sat at Eddie's kitchen table that morning. Both Evan and Y/N had the day off, Chris was going over to a friends house for a sleepover today. And Eddie decided to pick up an extra shift at the fire house.
"You know you didn't have to take that shift Eddie." Y/N says as he pours coffee into a turmos mug. It was rare that the three of them had a day off at the same time. So naturally she was a little disappointed when Eddie said he chose to do an extra 12 hours.
"I didn't realize you were off today, I'm sorry mi amour." He says dropping a kiss on the top of her head.
"You got all your stuff ready Chris?" Chris nods at Eddie's question and then gets up to go grab his things.
"You know there's no harm in taking a day off right. I mean you've been working a lot lately." Evan pitches in concern evident in his voice. As he puts his mug down on the table.
"You should be taking better care of yourself Eds." She said putting a hand on her stomach, masking a slight discomfort that made it's appearance.
"You two are blowing this way out of proportion." Eddie had been acting off lately. He was shorter tempered and he had been picking up a lot of extra hours. He was tired and overall frustrated often. They were both a little worried. Y/N hadn't seen him act this way for a long time. She was getting really worried.
The last time Eddie had acted this way she ended up getting a call say that he needed to be bailed out of jail. But she hadn't seen any bruises or marks on him, maybe she was over reacting.
"Why don't you call in sick?" Evan proposed, only to receive a scoff from Eddie.
"I said I'd be there, Buck. Come on, Chris!" Eddie gave them both a quick kiss before his son finally entered the room. Y/N and Evan said goodbye to Chris and just like that the house became quiet.
"He's acting strange right?" She asked Buck, her hands wrapped around the mug as she stared at the dark liquid before glancing at him.
"Yeah, he is." Evan confirmed.
~~~
Y/N stood in the kitchen cutting vegetables for supper. Two hands made their way to her waist and then her front. Buck leaned his chin on her shoulder as she hummed along to the song playing.
"Why don't you go sit?"
"Babe, I'm fine." She told him pausing to look up at him, kissing him on the cheeks.
"You were sick all morning." He presses. She put the knife down and turned in his arms so she was facing him. Her hands came up to cup his jaw.
"I promis, I feel fine. Good even." She spoke softly giving him her full attention. He let out a sigh searching for something unusual in her features only to find nothing.
"You promis? And if you start to feel even a little off you'll go sit?"
"Yes baby, I promise." She gave him a sweet smile and a kiss on the cheek.
"Well, then let me help. What can I do?" Evan asked going over to the sink to wash his hands.
"You can take over cutting while I get started on the sauce." She took a pot out and placed it beside the one with water. They didn't get to cook together often. It was often Buck or Y/N never Eddie. They were scared they wouldn't have a kitchen by the end of it, or taste buds.
By the time everything was ready it was 8pm. Late compared to 'normal' hours but their schedule was so weird that they got used to eating at odd hours.
"Shouldn't Eddie be home by now?" Y/N asked looking up at Evan with worry.
"His call must have run late. It happens all the time." He reassured her wrapping a hand around her waist and hugging her, his head going down to her neck.
"We should wait for him."
They ended up eating an hour and a half later. Without Eddie.
It was 11pm when Y/N wanted to go to bed but was to busy paissing their living room.
"This can't just be a call Evan."
"Sweetheart-"
"Theres no way he has been on a call for over 3 hours!" He was also getting worried, he just didn't want to show it. It wasn't impossible, but another unit would have gotten there and they would have been able to go back to the station, and back home.
"Baby stop, please." He gently grabbed her arms stopping her movements.
"How about you go to bed-" she shook her head and open her mouth to protest but Evan stopped her.
"How about you go to bed and try to sleep, and I'll go down to the station and see what's going on." She let out a sigh, hesitating.
"Your exhausted and you have work in the morning, Sweetheart. I wasn't really asking." Evan made himself more clear. Her hands went to his biceps and his to her waist.
"Fine."
~~~
It was dark in the house when he came home. Using his hands to make sure he didn't run into anything. When he reached the kitchen he turned the light over the sink on. He grabbed the first aid kit from the top of the fridge groaning from the pain it caused.
He took his shirt off letting it fall to the ground, he looked down spotting the dark bruises painting the various parts of his body. He took out some rubbing alcohol and cream setting them on the counter.
"Eddie?"
He turned around to find Y/N standing in the doorway of the kitchen. She was just about to fall asleep when she heard the front door.
"Baby where have you been? Why didn't you answer your phone?" She rushed forward only for her to stop a few feet away from him. A small gasp left her when she actually took the time to look at him.
"A call ran late, I'm sorry." He explained. She approached him gently running her fingure tips over a bruise on his stomach to which he winced.
"Eddie..." His name was spoken so softly he barely caught it.
"It was a rough one. It looks worse than it is, mi amour." He said, he put a hand on her arm trying to comfort her. But then she caught sight of his bloody and bruised knuckles. She took in a sharp breath standing up straighter. It all clicked in her head.
"You've been fighting again, haven't you?" She looked at him disappointment flooding her eyes.
"What? No, of course not." The slight hesitant in his voice told her otherwise.
"Edmundo, do not lie to me." She said angerly, tears welling up in her eyes despite her attempts to stop them. He took a deep breath closing his eyes and tilting his head slightly up.
He wasn't planning to do it again but a few weeks back an old buddy from back when he did illegal fighting contacted him. Said then needed someone because some guy left last minute. It was supposed to be a one time thing. But one turned to two, and two to three until it got out of hand.
"Baby-"
"Why!? Why would you possibly do that again?!" She was livid, rightfully so. She took a step back until she hit the kitchen island.
"It's complicated." He said looking back at her. Letting out a sigh, he didn't want to explain.
"Complicated? How could it be Complicated? This was in the past, we left it there, with the lawsuit, and the heartache and- and jail. We talked about this."Â
"It's not the same. I'm careful I know what I'm doing." He tries to explain, but it wasn't good enough.
"You also knew what you where doing when you broke that guys nose!" She yelled, not hearing the front door over their arguing.
"That's not fair."
"Look at yourself!" He swallowed hard. He was littered with cuts and bruises. He knew he shouldn't come home looking like this.
"Eddie?" Evan stood at the other end of the kitchen, his voice caused them both to look over at him.
Y/N kept a concern look on her face but a weight on her shoulders was lifted knowing that Buck was home and okay, it was one less thing to worry about. Eddie seemed surprised, he though Evan was sleeping.
"Thank God, your okay. I've been looking everywhere for you." Evan drops his keys on the counter and rushed to hug his boyfriend. Y/N letting out a sigh and ran a hand through her hair.
Eddie inhaled sharply as Buck hugged him and winced. He returned the affection and then pulled away a little.
"Buck." It was strained and said through gritted teeth because of the pain. When he finally pulled away he got a good look at Eddie.
"What the hell happened?" He said anger in his tone. When no one answered he turned to his girlfriend for help.
"You don't talk about fight club right?" She said sarcasticly causing Eddie to roll his eyes.
"What?" Bucks face filled with confusing looking between the two.
"He's fighting again." She explained moving to the other side of the island to create space between her and the boys.
"What!? Why?" He turns to Eddie brows furrowed, he wasn't there when he did the fights in the past. Y/N was. He had heard of some of them from her, like the one where he broke a guy's nose so bad he choked on a piece of cartilage.
"Can we please not have this conversation again." Eddie felt like they were going around in circles, and it didn't help when his girlfriend just pick up the conversation where they left off when Evan arrived.
"They know what there doing as much as you do. How do you know how it's going to end? Next time it could be you, and they won't stay to help you, they'll leave you there." She didn't want to fight with her boys tonight, not with all the stress that she was under. Today was supposed to be a good day, and it only seemed to take a turn for the worst.
"Y/N-"
"She's right, I thought you were donne with it Eddie." Evan cuts in, concern and confusion evident on his face and in his voice.
"Apparently not." She muttered her hand rubbing her temple
"Do you know how much you scared us tonight?" Evan tried to make him understand. Y/N started to feel a slight discomfort, but she was unsure from what.
"I'm sorry." He really did feel bad, he knew he was extremely late. The missed phone calls and texts were unlike him.
He fished his phone from his pocket and set it on the counter. The screen was shattered and the back metal panel was missing a few pieces falling out of the phone as he sets it down.
"Eddie you can't start doing this again, I wasn't there when you did it before but Y/N told me it got pretty brutal." Evan explained his concern about his past, scared that it might repeat.
"Look it's just a few fights, and they help. I come home and I'm not angry or impatient." Eddie tried to reassure them but it wasn't working. He ran a hand through his hair.
"No, you come home bloody and bruised. Like thats any better." Y/N pitched back in sarcasm lassed in her voice. A hand going to her stomach now understanding where the discomfort came from
"Eddie you can't keep doing this, not after tonight." Evan almost pleaded.
"You don't get it!" He argued back, getting more frustrated by the minute. Y/N winced gripping the counter with her free hand.
"Then explain." Evan continued to try and reason with him but nothing seemed to work.
"I can't!" Eddie shouted, the two boys to engrossed in their argument to see the clear pain their girl was in.
"This isn't healthy, I though you talked about it with your therapist." Buck continued to try and understand.
"Evan-" He was cut off by Y/N.
"Uhh! Will you two stop!" She was hunched over, one hand still on the counter for support the other on her stomach. A pained look on her face.
"Y/N?" Eddie turned to her and took a few steps in her direction.
"Baby, what's wrong?" Evan was extremely concerned. He rounded the island and stood beside her placing a hand on her hip.
"You two are stressing me."
"Mi amour, that can't be stress." Eddie gently rubs circles into her back.
"Since when does stress cause you pain?" Evan asked, she stood back up straight.
"Since I've been pregnant."
They both look at each other, wanting to have confirmation they heard the same thing.
"Pregnant?"
"Baby, are you sure?"
"I was hoping for a little more excitement boys." She remarked.
"Okay, how about we get you to the couch?" Eddie spoke looking at Evan.
Once she was seated on the couch the boys sat on either side of her.
"How long have you known?" She looked over at Buck and took a deep inhale.
"A week." She leaned back until her back hit the couch and looked between the boy. Trying to see both their reactions.
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"I was going to, but you both have such a hectic work schedule that I was trying to find the right time. And then Eddie decided to work today so... This isn't how I wanted to tell you." She looked down at her hands in her lap.
She had spent so much time trying to plan the perfect moment. Tonight was gonna be it over some dinner the three of them. So they could figure out how to tell Chris together. But everything went wrong, it usually did with them. The execution was terrible, but the result was always good. Buck set a hand on her shoulder squeezing slightly to give her a little comfort.
"Where does it hurt?" Eddie asked concern painted on his face.
She looked over at him and set her hand on her lower stomach to show him. He reached over lifting her shirt a little and pressing a hand in different areas. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
"I'm sorry baby." He apologized glancing between her and Evan. He hated that he had cause this. The stress and pain. He never wanted this to happen.
"It's just you two are constantly risking your life at work. I don't-"
"Hey, I get. I won't go to the fights anymore, I swear." Eddie stopped her to explain. He understood how much this meant to her to both of them. She gave him a small smile before it turned to a frown when she spotted Evan leaning down to be slightly above her stomach
"Now, you gotta stop giving trouble to your mom little guy." She let out a giggle running her hand in his hair only to lift his face and give him a kiss
"I don't think thats how it works Buck."

______
âSo I want you to both be thinking about it. Put those two brains together, I want you to solve it and be able to explain how you solved itâ (Y/n) finished her math instruction. âIâm going to give you two minutes to try and solve this question, youâre ready?â Her voice sounded through the classroom as she clicked on start on the timer which was displayed on the screen.
(Y/n) was an elementary school teacher, she teaches the fifth grade to be specific. She has her own classroom, a teacher assistant intern, and a really good bond with her students. She loves her job, she really does. Thereâs nothing in the world sheâd rather be doing than working with children. Her husband, on the other hand, loved being a firefighter. It was his life, and in his words: he wouldnât know where heâd be if he never started the fire academy.
When one of the kids asked her if she had a boyfriend, she told them she was married to a firefighter. The students were so enthusiastic and full of questions, so she decided to take the kids to the firehouse one day, to teach them about firefighters, dispatch and everything Bobby had to tell.
âOkay, so some of you came up with an answer and a solution.â She speaks to the group as she holds up her hand, motioning to the kids who were ready to throw their answer to her head, to hold up their hands. âDo we have a volunteer to tell us what answer they got and how they got it?â multiple hands had gone up into the air, but those hands quickly were put down when loud screams sounded through the hallways.
But it was the gunshot that went off after that which caught her attention the most. Her eyes shot towards her teacher assistant Katy, who was sitting at the desk grading some homework as she immediately dropped the pen. Katyâs eyes went wide when she realized what was happening while multiple gasps from the students filled the silence in the room. The gunshot sent a shiver down (Y/n)âs whole body, as she remembered the three words: Run, hide, fight.
That was the protocol. Run if you can, hide if you can not evacuate safely and fight if your life is in danger.
âEveryone. Hide underneath your desksâ She said softly as she tried to stay as calm as she possibly could.
The students all get off their seats and follow their teachers instructions as Katy runs off to the windows and closes the blinds. Meanwhile (Y/n) gets the remote for the screen and quickly shuts it off and runs towards the lightswitch to turn it off.
âKaty, help me move thisâ she says as she tries to push a mid-high bookcase in front of the door to barricade it. Katy quickly moves towards (Y/n) and helps her move the cabinet, so no one would be able to get in or out of the classroom.
When the cabinet was on the right spot, (Y/n) made her way towards the kids to make sure they were okay.
âYouâre okay, weâre going to be fineâ (Y/n) whispered softly to one of the students who was having a breakdown. She took place on the ground and folded her legs over each other, and she rubbed her hands over the kidâs upper arm, as a sign that she was there. They were not alone.
She let her fingers wipe away the tears of the girlâs cheeks and tried to hush her. She didnât want to draw any attention. The girl almost started hyperventilating because she was that scared. âAmelia I need you to take slow deep breathsâ (Y/n) whispered almost inaudibly. The girl nodded her head as she tried to copy her teacherâs breathing pattern. âGood, through your nose and out through the mouthâ (Y/n) complimented her.
Huddled up with some kids to her side, (Y/n) tried her best to calm down the kids who were having a hard time to deal with the situation. Students around her were silently crying, while they were comforting themselves and each other.
There was an ear deafening silence floating through the classroom. They could practically hear the clock on the wall, ticking after each minute that had gone by.
With every footstep she heard on the hallway outside of the classroom, (Y/n)âs heart would skip a beat. There could be children running for their lives, other teachers or the shooter choosing their next victim.
After minutes, maybe even an hour of sitting in silence, a high pitched yelp sounds through the walls of her classroom. But that scream gets cut off by a sudden gunshot. More gasps and sobs sound softly through the classroom. With wide eyes (Y/n) tries to focus on the sound of the hallway.
âNo. No, what are you going to do?!â Katyâs voice whispered desperately as (Y/n) crouched down and made her way towards the door of her classroom. The assistant crawled her way towards (Y/n), who was down at the door. Looking through the little gap between the window of the door and the bookcase.
(Y/n) glances through the window and spots a fellow teacher, down on the ground while a puddle of blood is being created underneath her. âDonât be a heroâ Katy says as softly as she possibly could.
She turned her head at Katy, âSheâs hurt and needs help, I canât just leave her to..â she shrugged her shoulders, she couldnât say die. Not with her kids around, not when they were already traumatized enough by the sounds âYou know..â she continued as she shrugged her shoulders.
She couldnât do nothing. That was not who she was.
âBut the shooter is still out there.â Katy says as she desperately starts to look around her. âThatâs why I need you to stay here and keep them safeâ (Y/n) whispered as she pointed out at her class. Katy shook her head with a frightened look in her eyes âNo.. I canât do thatâ Katy sighed as she looked at the kids.
âIt wasnât a question Katy, stay here and keep them safe. Close the door behind meâ She repeated one more time as she looked at her over the shoulder.
With both her hands she moved the bookcase on one end a little backwards so she was able to squeeze through the gap of the door. Her hand reached for the lever of the door, as she as silently as possible pulled the lever down and squeezed her body through the door. (Y/n) could hear the door close behind her.
Still crouching, she made her way towards her colleague and let her knees drop to the ground when she reached her. âYouâre gonna be okayâ she said, barely inaudible as she made eye contact with her. The teacher had lost a lot of blood, the puddle was becoming bigger with the second.
The female teacher had been shot in the chest. (Y/n) went with her first instinct, putting pressure on the wound. Without thinking, she pressed her bare hands onto the chest of the woman. The woman winced and hissed at the pain that was being pushed onto her gunshot wound. âI know it hurts, but you have to stay with me okay?â (Y/n) said as her eyes wandered from the wound to the womanâs eyes.
She was on the edge of passing out. (Y/n) could tell. The woman was blinking so fast, and she looked exhausted. âShitâ (Y/n) cursed as the eyes of the woman rolled to the back of her head. Quickly she pressed two fingers of her right hand into the skin of the neck to see if she had a pulse.
Her heart was still beating, which meant she just had to put pressure onto the wound. So the heart would have enough blood to pump around.
But then the feeling of a cold metal getting pressed onto her skin spreads a shiver down her entire body. Her mouth suddenly went dry and her heart was pounding in her chest, as if it was trying to break free from her chest.
(Y/n) was frozen in her position, hovering over the woman. Putting pressure to the wound which was still trying to bleed through the small gaps between her fingers..
âLet goâ the sound of a low male voice said.
She swallowed, as she felt the metal being pushed, deeper into her skin. She slightly shook her head, âYou donât have to do thisâ she slowly said as she kept as still as possible. âI do, everyone in this building has to pay for what they did for me.â
A click sounded. He reloaded his gun. Just one click away from a bullet inside of her head.
âI get it.â her voice said as she felt her breathing become faster because of the adrenaline. âWhen they donât see you. And no one is there to help.â She squeezed her eyes closed at the pressure of the gun that was being pushed into the side of her forehead.
âShut. Up.â His voice hissed at (Y/n).
Tears were falling down her face as she tried to keep enough pressure on the wound of the woman. âStruggling every single day of your life, trying to find a reason to be hereâ
âI said shut up!â he yelled as he fired a warning shot into the concrete walls of the hallway.
She flinched at the sudden gunshot. But she didnât stop. She didnât give up. She needed to try, and enter his mind. Try to talk him out of it, or buy herself more time. âThe bucket will fill itself with more and more water everyday. And one day, that bucket will overflow.â She tried to remain strong as her voice became more trembling by every word she spoke.
The man pushes the gun once again into her skin, the muzzle still a little warm because of the bullet that popped out a few seconds ago. A click sounds as he reloads another bullet. âAnd youâll realize that youâve been drowning.. and if thereâs no one to reach out their hand...â she squeezed her eyes shut as she remained silent for a second and another tear escaped the corner of her eye.
Multiple gunshots sounded through the hallway of the school as the gun, which the shooter was holding against her head fell down to the ground together with the body of the shooter.
A gasp left her mouth as the bullets whooshed along her ears. She glanced over her shoulder and saw the body of the shooter lying behind her on his back. Lifeless.
Everything that was happening was moving in slow motion. When she looked in front of her she could see multiple swat soldiers entering the hallway with their guns pointed towards the man behind her.
âSuspect is downâ one of the soldiers said into their radioâs as they made their way towards (Y/n) and the shooter.
With two paramedics following the soldiers, the paramedics kneeled down next to the female teacher which (Y/n) tried to save her life. The paramedics put down their medic bags beside them and zipped the bag open as they grabbed some gauze.
âYou can let go now. Weâve got her.â the male paramedic said as he tried to get her attention by putting his hand onto her shoulder. (Y/n) was still in shock. How did she survive this? Why didnât he just shoot her when he had the chance? Why listen to her words?
âSorryâ she said as she got back to earth. She slowly retreated her hands back to her own body as the paramedic quickly pressed the gauze down onto the wound. (Y/n) slightly flinched as she felt a hand curling around her bicep, pulling her up to her feet and escorting her down the hall to the open world. She let them. She was too shaken up to try and fight or ask questions.
______
âHi this is (Y/n)âs phone, please leave a message after the tone!â Her voice sounded through the speaker of Evanâs phone as he ended the call before the tone could ring into his ear.
A sigh leaves Evanâs mouth as he continues to send her a text, asking her to call him back when she can.
Hen walks into the kitchen when a frown morphed onto her face. âHey you okay?â She asked when she noticed Evanâs slightly worried face that was focussed on his phone.
Evan clicks on the send button as he slips his phone back into his pocket, and he curls his fingers around the glass of water he had made.
âIâm fine..â he sighs as he leans with his forearms onto the kitchen counter. âI have just tried to call (Y/n) multiple times but she doesnât answer. Normally she wouldâve called me back by nowâ
They called everyday, especially when Evan was on shift. She would call him after school had come to an end and all kids had left the classroom.
âYou think Iâm crazy, donât you?â Evan laughed at himself as he shook his head. He sounded like he was going insane. As if he couldnât live without her. But it was a routine, so when that routine gets interrupted, it feels weird.
Normally Evan was the one to not pick up, when he was on a call. But he always called her back when they were back at the firehouse. Sometimes it could take hours, but it could also be minutes. It depended on the call of course.
âNo not at all.. Iâm sure she will call you back, maybe sheâs talking to a parent or sheâs just busy.â Hen touches Evanâs upper arm as she tries to reassure him that his wife is okay.
âYeah, youâre right..â Evan pushed himself off the kitchen counter, he grabbed his glass and walked towards the sofas. âMaybe Iâm being a little bit paranoid, sheâs fine..â Evan glances at Hen who gives him a nod and a pat on his shoulder.
âTurn the volume upâ Eddie says as Chimney grabs the remote and quickly turns up the volume by pressing down on the button.
âWe just confirmed that about two hours ago, there has been a school shooting here in Los Angeles. The remarkable thing is that the school where this happened, was an elementary schoolâ
âJesusâ Eddie sighs.
âThe police have confirmed that after about an hour and a half after the shooter had fired the first bullet, they shot down the shooter. The name of the school where this happened is the Great Oak Elementary School. Parents are arriving at the school now to pick up their kids. Thereâs one wounded teacher and two casualties, both were working at the school.â
âThatâs horrible. Imagine you see this on the news and you have to pick up your traumatized child.â Hen says as she continues to listen to the tv.
âCanât imagine what that must feel likeâ Eddieâs voice sounds through the room.
Evan was intensely thinking. Why was that name so familiar? What was it about that school that made him think that he had a connection to it? He didnât have any kids, at least not yet. âWait what school did they say?â Evan double checked the name with his team, to see if he heard them correctly.
âI think it was Great Oak Elementary Schoolâ Chimney says as he focuses again onto the television screen.
Evanâs heart dropped in his chest. As soon as he heard that name fall off the lips of his colleague's mouth, it felt like all of the air he had in his lungs was getting pushed out. Everything's coming together now.
It was the school his wife worked for.
âBut why even an elementary school, not that any school wouldâve been any better or different. But weâre talking about ages 5 to 10 years old. Those children are going to be scarred for lifeâ Eddieâs dull voice sounded over the loft into Evanâs ears.
No texts, no calls, nothing.
Evanâs hearing is dull, everything is still continuing on the back of his mind but his brain is working over hours now. Making up all different kinds of scenarios of what couldâve happened in that school. âWow Buck, you alright?â Another dull voice rang through his ears.
Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder, he flinched at the sudden touch and his eyes connected with Henâs as he turned his head towards her. A frightened look was spread over his face as he tried to control his breathing.
He looked down to his feet, which were suddenly wet and cold. He realizes he had dropped his glass of water down to the ground. His boots are now soaking wet, with the water dripping down his pipes. But that was the last thing he was worried about right now.
His brain filled with all different kinds of scenarios were running through his mind. â(Y/n)â he mumbled through his panicked breaths as he tried to look at Hen, who was still pressing her hand onto his shoulder while her other hand was curled around his upper arm.
âOh no..â Hen said as he puzzled the pieces together. Finally realizing what was happening and what Evan meant.
Bobbyâs voice sounded through the space as he stepped onto the loft âWhatâs happening?â
âThere has been a school shooting at Great Oaks Elementary. The school where Buckâs wife worksâ Hen quickly explained to Bobby as she held her grip onto Evanâs upper arm.
Evanâs eyes that were full of worry wandered towards his captain's eyes who was coming closer towards him every second. âShe isnât answering any of my calls or texts. And Iâm not waiting for the hospital to call me and tell me that sheâs..â Evan sighs at the worst case scenario that was in his mind.
âPlease Bobby. I need to go. I need to see for myself if sheâs okay.â Evanâs broken voice sounded.
âLook Buck, I get it. But you donât have to do this on your own. Weâre coming with you, whether you like it or not. (Y/n) is our family too.â Bobby says as he softly squeezed Evanâs shoulder. A small smile spread across Evanâs face as those words left Bobbyâs mouth.
âLetâs go and find (Y/n)â Bobby says as he patted his hand onto Evanâs shoulder as a sign to go.
-
âWhat do you mean she isnât here?â Evan says after Athena finished her conclusion. âI just told you, every teacher that was here on school grounds during the shooting has been checked by paramedics, and are now sitting in a room. Theyâre getting the information they need if they want help. But Iâve seen every teacher in that room, and she wasnât there Buck, only her teaching assistant Katy.â Athena continues her explanation.
âWell, have you asked Katy if she knows anything about the whereabouts of my wife?â Evan asks, maybe a little annoyed. âNo, not yet. Iâm waiting for the professionals to finish their job. And after that, Iâll see if Katy is willing to talkâ She calmly answers Evanâs question.
âHow long is that gonna take?â Evan sighs as he puts his hands on his hips. Heâs losing his patience. This is taking too long. âIâm sure theyâre almost done, this should only take a few more minutesâ Athena reassured him.
âI donât have time for this.. what if Katy doesnât know where she is? This might lead to a dead end.â Evan tries to stop himself from panicking, as he rushes a hand through his short curly hair. He had to do something. He couldnât just stand there and wait on a teaching assistant who maybe doesn't have an answer to their questions.
Evan quickly turned around and slid his phone out of his pocket. He had to try it, at least one more time. He clicks on the green icon and clicks on her name, impatiently he presses the phone against his ear. Maybe she did have it with her.. right?
âBuck..â Evan could hear Bobby sigh as he was walking away from his team.
Evan listens to the sound of the phone beeping, trying to connect with the other phone. He was pacing through one of the hallways, silently listening to the beeps of the phone. Evanâs eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he could hear a ringtone going off from a distance. Was that someone elseâs phone or was that the phone he was trying to reach?
The ringtone stopped playing when Evan was being sent to voicemail. He quickly presses the red button, and decides to try and call the phone again.
Once more the same ringtone sounds through the hallway.
Evan follows the sound, making his way through the hallways until after multiple times of calling her phone, he reaches the door of a classroom. The tone sounded loudly through the space of the room.
Evan stepped into the classroom and walked towards the desk where the phone was buzzing. âThere you are..â Evan whispered to himself as he grabbed the phone and frowned at the idea of his wife leaving her phone behind. She never leaves her phone behind.
He shoved his own phone into his pocket as he made his way back towards his team who were now talking with a young woman, probably Katy.
âCan we please ask you a few questions?â Evan could hear Athena ask the TA, who nodded at her question. âWhen was the last time you saw (Y/n)?â Athena continued to ask her. âDuring the shooting, we were all hiding inside the classroom just like protocol said. And she told me to watch the kids.. she went to help the lady who was shot outside of our classroom. I heard multiple gunshots, when I was alone with the kids. But I havenât seen her since she told me to watch them.â Katy explains.
Evan could feel his knees trembling, like they were suddenly turning into Jell-o.
âThatâs everything I knowâ Katy says as she shrugs her shoulders. âItâs okay, thank you Katy. If something pops into your mind, give me a callâ Athena says as she gives Katy her card with her contact details and Katy walks away.
âAlright, thereâs two things we can do. One, we go to the hospital and check if she may be in the ER. Or two, we go check the..-â Athena gets cut off by Evanâs voice.
âMorgueâ Evan finished Athenaâs sentence and shook his head. âWeâre going to the ER of the nearest hospital, sheâs not dead. She canât be.â Evan continued. âBuck.â Bobbyâs voice spoke up when Evan wiped his hand against his forehead, as if it helped him to get rid of the thought of his wife being dead. âI refuse to believe that sheâs dead, I want to go to the hospitalâ Evan states as he could hear his own voice trembling.
Evan felt Bobbyâs hand landing onto his shoulder. âItâs your decision to make Buck, if you want to go to the hospital, we go to the hospitalâ Bobby said as he looked into Evanâs eyes again. Evan nodded. He made his decision.
The drive towards the nearest hospital was silent, but when the truck pulled to a stop Evanâs hand reached for the door and he jumped out as fast as he could.
He had waited long enough. He needed his answers now.
Before the rest of his team got out of the truck, Evan had already gone through the glass doors. Evan came to a stop at the nurse station, using his hands as a brake by pressing it against the desk.
âHi, Iâm looking for (Y/n) Buckleyâ he panted as he focussed on the nurse who was scrolling through the documents of people who had gotten in.
âEvan?â her familiar voice sounds through his ears. His eyes went wide as he heard that voice he had hoped to hear through the phone the first time he called her. He pushed himself off the desk he was leaning on and followed her voice.
â(Y/n)?â he softly said as he looked around him. When his eyes connected with hers, his heart skipped a beat. She was alive. Just like he said.
âEvanâ she sighed as she finally saw her husband's face. Evan basically sprinted towards (Y/n) as he heard her broken voice say his name. Her knees were trembling, and were on the edge of giving in. âHey! Hey! Iâm here!â Evan panted as he curled his arms around his wife and she collapsed into his arms.
She was sobbing as soon as she felt his arms curled around her body and she tightened her grip around his body, like he was the only thing to keep her from drowning. He was the hand she had to hold onto. âIâm hereâ Evan let out a breath he didnât know he was holding this entire time.
He let his hand cup the back of her head and he pressed his lips against her hair.
He slowly pulled back, but his arms remained around her body. He wasnât letting her go. The hand he had pressed against the back of her head, wandered to her cheek as he wiped away her tears.
âW-what are you doing here? Are you hurt?â he stumbled as he quickly checked her on any wounds. She shook her head as she placed both of her hands down onto his chest. âNo, Iâm okayâ she gasped through her tears.
When Evanâs eyes fell onto her hands, which were now placed on his chest, he noticed her hands which were still covered in dried blood.
He placed his hands over hers as he softly grabbed her hand and started inspecting it. âIt isnât mineâ she sighed as she tried to reconnect her eyes with Evanâs, who was focussed on making sure his wife wasnât hurt.
âThen whose blood is that?â Evanâs voice asked, concerned when his eyes remained on her hands. âT-the woman who had been shot..â she said as she tried to catch her breath. Evanâs eyes furrowed âI helped her..â in the middle of her sentence, she stopped talking. âI kept her alive, even with a gun pointed at my headâ she continued.
She could hear the gunshots going off in the back of her mind, the explanation she had just given her husband brought her right back to that place. So much has happened in those few minutes, she barely had time to process everything that happened in such a short time.
Tears were streaming down her face as she was reminded of the incident. âHe wanted to shoot me in the headâ
âOh baby..â a loud sigh left his lips as he pressed a kiss onto her forehead. âYou did so goodâ he mumbled against her forehead as he pressed another kiss onto it and pulled his wife back into an embrace.
âI was so scared Evan, I really thought this is it.. that everything I did, was for the last timeâ (Y/n) sobbed as she locked her arms around his body once again and her head pressed against his broad chest. âBut you fought like hell, like I knew you would. You fought for that woman, for the students, yourself and me. You fought your way back to me.â Evan said as he pulled away a little, so her head wouldnât be touching his chest anymore and he could place both his hands onto her cheeks.
âYouâre so much stronger than you think you are.â
______
A gasp fell off (Y/n)âs lips as a gunshot roared through the back of her mind. Her eyes were suddenly wide open and her entire body was drenched in sweat. She let her hands fall against her face as she sighed. It was just another dream, a nightmare to be more specific.
It had been weeks since the shooting on the Great Oak Elementary School, but what happened that day, was still haunting her until today.
Falling asleep was a problem at first, the first nights after the incident, she was all wrapped around Evan. Trying to get her to sleep like she was a baby that couldnât find the right spot to sleep on.
Evan worked twenty four hour shifts, he couldnât just go home in the middle of shift, in the middle of the night to help his wife to fall asleep at night. So sometimes, (Y/n) wouldnât sleep at all at night, she would just wait until he came home and the second Evan was home she would doze off.
But now, itâs the constant nightmares she had. Every dream she had wasnât the same, itâs not like she had the same nightmare over and over again on loop. No, she was having different kinds of scenarioâs everytime she closed her eyes.
She let her hands fall down onto the mattress as she glanced at Evan who was peacefully asleep on his side of the bed. (Y/n) threw off the blanket and swung her feet over the side of the bed and grasped the first hoodie she saw lying down on the floor. The hoodie was a little oversized and fell over her bum.
(Y/n) stepped down the stairs of the loft and flicked on the kettle to make some tea. Maybe that would help her calm down. With her back towards the living room, she pressed her elbows down onto the flat surface of the kitchen counter.
She was tired, but couldnât sleep. Not if she was having these nightmares, everytime she closed her eyes. (Y/n) let her head rest between her hands as she closes her eyes for a second, just to try and let the stress exit her body while the water was boiling.
Evan groaned as he turned around in bed and let his arm find the body of his wife. When his arm connected with the jumpy mattress, he pushed his head off the pillow as a confused frown was spread across his face. He wasn't expecting his arm to find the mattress, he was waiting for his arm to connect with (Y/n)âs body.
He lets his arm swipe along the mattress again to make sure she wasnât somewhere else on the mattress. Evan turns his body and reaches out to turn on the night lamp on his nightstand. He squeezed his eyes as he tried to adjust his eyes to the bright light on his nightstand and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
Evan swung his legs over the side of the bed as he stood up to make his way downstairs, determined to find his wife. When he silently stepped down the stairs, he smiled at the way she was standing. A Los Angeles Fire Department hoodie to keep her comfortable, her eyes closed as she was leaning on her hands. While the kettle was releasing steam as it was finished boiling.
A groan left her lips as she felt a hand curled around her hip and his chin was leaning on her shoulder. Her hand reached behind her as she tried to find Evanâs arm. âCanât sleep?â his sleepy voice asked, with his eyes still closed as he was still trying to wake up.
âYeahâ she whispered as she nodded at his question, and she placed her other hand down on his cheek as he was still leaning with his chin onto her shoulder.
âStill having those nightmares huh?â He asked her as he pressed a kiss on the palm of her hand that was resting on his face.
âYeah, whatâs new..â she sighed, she had the feeling those nightmares werenât going away anytime soon anyways. She grabbed a cup from the upper cabinet, placed it onto the counter and started to pour water from the kettle into it.
When the cup was full enough, she placed the kettle back. âEvan?â Her soft voice sounded raspy.
âHmm?â Evan hummed as he slightly opened his eyes to check on his wife. His arm was still wrapped around her, curved around her hip. She swallowed loudly.
âI donât know how much longer I can do this..â she whispered as she placed both of her hands flat against the counter as she stared right in front of her.
Evanâs hand started to come loose from her hip, as he let his lower back fall against the kitchen island, which was placed on the other side of the kitchen counter (Y/n) was making her tea on.
He folded his arms over each other as he leaned against the kitchen cabinets. âYou mean the nightmares, right?â Evan needed a confirmation that he knew she was talking about.
She felt Evan leaving her side. But she couldnât look at him without breaking down. So she remained standing with her back towards Evan. âNo.. I meant, being a teacher.â She said as she started to make circles with her finger onto the kitchen counter.
âWhat? What do you mean? You love being a teacherâ Evan said as he tried to make eye contact again. But she wouldnât turn around.
She shook her head as she sighed, trying to keep her tears from falling down. âThat was before this all happened. You know how exhausting it is to be wary of every single thing around you?â she sniffled as she turned her face towards the ceiling, trying everything in her power to not show her tears, or show her fear.
With her sleeves falling over her hands, she wiped the small tears away that had started rolling down her cheeks. âEvery time before I even enter the school my throat goes dry, I start sweating and I canât stop myself from shakingâ she tried to say through her tears and sobs.
She turned her body, and let herself slide against the kitchen doors, dropping to the ground as she cried even harder. âIâm sick and tired of flinching at every sudden sound I hear. I canât sleep, because any time when I close my eyes, even if itâs just for one silly second, Iâm there again. With a gun against my head.â she confessed.
(Y/n) let the back of her head lean against the kitchen cabinet as she felt Evan coming closer, while she looked at the ceiling again. Trying to get rid of the tears that showed her biggest fears and weaknesses. âI canât do this anymore Evanâ she sobbed as she pressed her palms against her face. All she wanted to do was hide.
It feels like sheâs drowning, drowning into her own fear and tears. The fear is over taking her like waves of the ocean, if no one would reach out that hand to help her.. she might drown.
âNo.. youâre scared. And I get your reaction, but we donât always make the best decisions when weâre operating out of fearâ Evan spoke up as he curled his arm around her knee.
A sigh leaves Evanâs mouth as he tries to think of the right thing to say. âI know how hard it is to get over something so traumatizing, that you donât know what youâre doing it for no moreâ he said as he tightened his arm around her knee. âBut what happened could have happened anywhere. At the grocery store, in our own home, hell even at the fire stationâ Evan continued as he tried to get her attention, but she was too emotional to make eye contact.
She could hear every word he said, every breath he took, every moment of silence he needed, to think of what he was going to say next.
âSo I need you to stop saying that you canât do this. Because I know you can. Youâre one of the strongest women I know. And Iâm so proud to call you my wife. But right now, I need you to grab my hand and trust me when I say that weâll figure this out.â tears were starting to well in Evanâs eyes as he quickly wiped his finger underneath his eyes to get rid of the tears he felt, as they were about to roll over his cheeks.
Evan loosened his grip around her knee as he reached out his hand, with his palm faced towards the ceiling. âWe do this together, just like we did all the times I got hurt and didnât know what to doâ Evan said as he lowered his head, trying to get her eyes connected with him again.
Silence took over the space they were in.
Evanâs hand was still dangling between her knees as he waited for her attention and answer. âTogether?â he asked one more time.
A soft smile made its way onto her face, as she nodded. âTogether.â she said determined and placed her hand onto his as Evan sent her a small smile her way.
She had helped him countless times, now it was his turn to help her.

Buck looked up at all of the windows to all of the different apartments before he took a deep breath and started to walk inside towards yours. He knocked on your apartment door hoping you would answer since it was 2 am. After a minute or so he was about to leave thinking you weren't up before you opened the door.Â
âBuck? What are you doing here at 2 am?âÂ
âHey, sorry were you asleep?â
âYeah I was. I just got home like an hour ago but come insideâ you say. Opening the door wider for him to walk inside.Â
âOkay greatâ He said as he awkwardly put his hands in his pockets and walks inside/
âSoo I couldnât sleepâ he repeated softley, his voice barely above a whisper.Â
âYeah I would be concerned if you did come here to sleepâ you jokedÂ
He laughs and you laugh along with him as things become silent but in a comforting way. The kind that only exists between close friends.Â
He leans against the wall in the walkway so you mimic him doing the same but on the opposite wall of him.Â
As they stood in the dimly lit hallway, the soft hum of the refrigerator was the only thing breaking the silence. He leaned against the wall, his eyes meeting hers with a mix of nervousness and warmth.Â
She felt her heart racing, wondering if he could hear it. Â
The moonlight peaking through the curtains in the window at the end of the hall casting a soft glow on both of their faces. She noticed a soft blush on his cheeks and wondered if he had noticed hers.Â
They had known each other for years, but lately things started to feel like something changed.Â
This moment felt different, charged with unspoken words and hidden feelings.Â
He shifted slightly before speaking again.Â
âDo you ever think aboutâŠâŠâŠ.. Us?â he asked, his voice hesitant.Â
âWhat about us?âÂ
âI don't know like there's something more. Like we're meant to be more than just friends.âÂ
The silence was thick between them as her heart raced at his question. She had always had feelings for Buck but never had the courage to tell him directly. You have always tried to deny your feelings to yourself and everyone else around you, But now under the soft glow of the moonlight, everything seemed different, more intimate.Â
After what seemed like hours for buck, you answered âYes.â your voice barely above a whisper. âI do think about us. More than I should. And itâs not in a way best friends should be thinking about each other.â
His eyes widened slightly as he thought about your words. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. All this time he had been hiding the same feelings but he assumed you thought of him as a friend and nothing more.Â
âYouâŠYou do?â Buck said softly as a million thoughts raced through his mind.
He pushed away from the wall and slowly walked over to where you were standing, still leaving a little bit of distance just in case he was misreading the conversation.Â
âWhy didnât you say anything?â You look up towards buckÂ
âI was scared that you didnât feel the same way.â Buck said avoiding eye contact. Instead he distracted himself by running his fingers up and down your arm gently, his eyes following the motion of his hands.Â
You could sense how nervous he was so you decided to take the lead by grabbing his hand and intertwining your fingers with his. While you do that you bring yourself off the wall and close the distance between you two. Buckâs eyes look into yours before he looks at your lips and back to your eyes. He hesitantly leans down towards you, his hand going to your chin to lift your head up so he has more access to your lips. He paused half way there and his eyes were on you waiting for you to make the next move. You wrap your arms around his neck and bring him down to kiss you.Â
First the kiss was gentle, saying the things you and buck haven't said. After you guys pulled away to catch your breath. Buck then leans in again and kisses you more desperately than the first kiss. You know what he wants, and you decide you don't want to wait any longer. You tilt your head to the side and kiss him back just as desperately as he was. Buck takes this as a good sign and he moves his arms around you and moves his hands up and down your body over your clothes. As the kiss becomes more eager he picks you up by the back of your thighs and carries you to your bedroom.Â
Laughing you hold onto him so you won't fall as he walks up the stairs.
 âDon't drop meâÂ
âNot a chanceâ he said with a smirk on his faceÂ
Buck sets you down gently on the bed before climbing on top of you and continuing the makeout session you guys had before you guys went upstairs. Your hands went under his shirt dragging your nails up his chest. He got the hint and took the shirt off and went back to hovering over you. Buck kissed you from your lips making his way down to the side of your neck. As buck was doing that you were running your hands everywhere he would let you. Buck pulled back. You got what he was saying with one look so you sat up, taking your shirt off. You reached your hands back to buckâs face and pulled him back down to your lips. Both of you smiled into the kiss.Â
Buck moved his head to where he previously left purple bruises on your neck, he kissed over them gently knowing they were probably getting sore. He kissed his way down your body.Â
Starting with your lips, making his way down to your neck, then to your breast. Giving each one the same amount of attention before kissing a path down in between them. Taking his time to kiss your stomach before leaning back to take off the shorts to your pajama set, taking off your underwear with it. He then kissed your hip then he moved his lips to the inside of your thighs. You sat up on your elbows to look at him. Buck made eye contact with you before wrapping his arms around your thighs and going to the place you needed him the most.Â
When you felt his lips suck at your clit, you leaned back against the pillows not knowing where to put your hands so you were moving your hands from the sheets to the pillow then back down to the sheets under you. Buck stopped and before you could ask him whatâs wrong he grabbed your hands and put it in his hair then went back to what he was doing.Â
âBuckâ you whisper breathlessly as your hands pulled his hair slightly, pushing him closer into you. Your breathing quickened as you got closer to your climax. Buck took two fingers and slowly started a steady rhythm.Â
âIt's okay just breathe. Breathe for me.â Buck said in a seductive tone.Â
Your back arched up as you reached your climax with a moan. Buck climbed back up to your face hovering over you. He was about to speak but before he got a word out you pulled him down to kiss you. While doing that you reached your hand down to his sweatpants and pulled the band towards you which made the band snap back against his skin.
You pulled back âI want these offâÂ
Buck smiled before getting up and taking off his pants along with his underwear before slowly climbing back on the bed. As buck hovered over you again he asked âAre you sure? We donât have to do more than what we just did, I mean iâm more than okay with just stop here- he started to speak nervously.Â
You pull him down to kiss him gently before stopping and saying âI'm more sure than i've ever been about anything else.â
Buck chucked before kissing your lips before kissing down to your cheeks and to your neck while he pressed himself to your entrance. You gasped softly as buck slowly entered inch by inch. Once he was settled he groaned and put his head down in between your shoulder and your neck.
âTell me when you're ready for me to moveâ Buck said in between kisses on your neck.Â
âiâm readyâÂ
Buck moved his hips back before slowly bringing them back trying to find a rhythm that both he and you liked.Â
Your hands went to his back from underneath him, leaving scratch marks on his back. Both of you knew there would be questions about it from your co-workers but they would be dealt with when the time came.Â
Buck lifted his head from your neck and went to capture your lips with his. Kissing as he still moved in and out of you at a faster pace than before, chasing after both of your highs.Â
The night was filled with groans and soft moans from the both of you.Â

Eddie Diaz (911) Masterlist
So it turns out there's a limit to how many links you can add it into a single post. So my old 911 masterlist is now the Evan Buckley masterlist, and this is a separate one for Eddie.

Eddie Diaz x Reader
Can you do a fic based off of 911 5x13 Fear-O-Phobia where Eddie destroys his room with a baseball bat but instead of Eddie destroying it Y/n does.
my tears ricochet
pairing: Eddie Diaz x fem!reader
summary: you work in a call center, answering emergency calls and you thought that no call would break you anymore, but today you have reached your breaking point
this fic is based on season 5 episode 13 âFear-o-Phobiaâ
word count: 2,2k
authorâs note: this fic contains references to child abuse and self-harm, please read with caution!
You're on shift again today and you're pretty tired at the end of it. You had an hour left before the end of the day and you really couldn't wait to get home to Chris and Eddie, even though you knew Eddie would be back a little later than you.
âLong day, huh?â â you break out of your thoughts and see Josh in front of you. You had a fifteen-minute break and decided to have coffee.
âDonât even start, itâs like this full moon curse decided to show up earlier.â
âI feel you, but guess what? You will be free soon and my night will be long.â â Josh sighed and went to pour himself a cup of coffee too.
âLucky me, I guess.â â you got up to go to your desk and continue taking calls. âBack to service.â
You sat down at the table and gave yourself a couple more minutes to get ready for the last hour of work. This job was difficult, sometimes your emotions could take over, but you thought you had already learned to control them. And even if you thought about quitting, those thoughts went away after a minute, because you knew that you were the first person people counted on when they were in danger and you wouldn't trade it for anything.
You put on your ear piece and come back to help people.
â9-1-1, whatâs your emergency?â
âPlease, my dad is going to kill me.â
You hear a child's trembling voice and your heart turns over.
âSweetie, tell me whatâs going on? Are you in danger?â
âMy dad gets aggressive when he drinks, he took his gun.â
âIs he threatening you with a gun? Are you in any pain?â
âHe pointed it on me, but I ran to my room. Daddy hit me in the head, I feel dizzy.â
âOpen the fucking door!â â you hear a drunken male voice and banging on the door. You need to be fast.
âOkay, honey, help is coming. Tell me your name and address.â
âIâm Audrey, 354 N Spring Street.â
âAll units, 354 N Spring Street, the man is intoxicated, he is armed and threatens his daughter. Possible child abuse and injuries.â
You quickly notify units about this and it takes your breath away. You need to save the girl, no one will get hurt today.
âOkay, Audrey, help is on the way, I will stay on the line, until they arrive. Is there anyone else at home?â
âNo, itâs just the two of us. Please hurry, heâs going to break the door!â
You feel a tear rolling down your cheek, but you quickly brush it away.
âHelp will be with you in 5 minutes. In the meantime, I want you to listen to me, okay? Hide under the bed or in the closet and try to be quiet, sweetie.â
You can hear the movement on the other end of the phone. Your palms are sweating and you're breathing fast. Your whole focus is on this girl.
âOkay, I'm under the bed.â
âGood job. Help is almost there, Audrey.â
The next thing you hear is a broken door and a little girl screaming. You hear a man swearing and a loud bang. You can't control the tears.
âAudrey, are you there?â
But there is silence in response. All you can hear is Audrey's screams and pleading for dad not to hit her anymore. Your hands start shaking and you feel like you're suffocating, everything is in a blur and slow motion.
âLAPD! Raise your hands and move away from the girl by 3 meters.â
You hear the voices of the police, but it's too soon to exhale, you don't know if it was too late. You feel Josh's hand on your shoulder and only now realize how much you're crying.
âDispatcher, this is 134, the girl is unconscious, but stable, got here on time. Weâre heading to the hospital.â
It should be a moment where you exhale, because the girl is alive and she will be fine, but you can't shake the feeling that you could have done more. This is not the first call from a child in your career, but it was the first call where you heard everything in "action" and it broke you.
You open the front door to the house and walk inside on weak legs. God only knows how you got home, because everything seemed to stop and you were alone in this trap. The girl's scream is still in your ears, and burning cheeks remind you of tears that you couldn't control. All you wanted right now was to be alone.
âHey mommy.â
You hear Chris's voice from the living room and go there. He started calling you mom not so long ago and you loved it. You accepted him as your own child and Eddie always made sure to thank you for that.
âHey, baby. Is dad home yet?â
You wanted Eddie to be at home, he was your safe place, who always dispersed the clouds when they appeared over your head. But another part of you wanted him to still be at work because you didn't want to explain what happened.
âNo, but he should be in an hour.â
âOkay. How about I make you dinner and turn on cartoons while you eat? Mommy is not feeling well and I would like to lay down for a bit. Are you going to be fine on your own?â
âSure, I wanted to watch cartoons all day!â
Chris smiled broadly and it melted your heart. He's so cheerful and positive that sometimes you thought you needed to learn from him. You loved him with all your heart and if something had happened to him, you would have died. But one question haunted you - how can you protect him if you couldn't protect the child at work?
You put a sandwich in front of Chris and turned on his favorite cartoons. He thanked you, you kissed him on the forehead and went into the bedroom. After closing the door, you sat down on the bed and finally let out all your emotions. You were angry, sad and crushed. You were angry at yourself for not being able to do more, you were angry at this worthless father who allowed himself to treat his own daughter like that, and you were angry that now you weren't sure you could save Chris if it was necessary.
Tears were pouring from your eyes, this cutting pain in your chest, which was growing with every second and this feeling of utter helplessness drove you crazy.
You didn't know what was driving you, but the next thing you knew it was the bat in your hands and the first blow to the wall. You never thought you had that kind of strength because that punch left a hole in the wall. You scream, this scream is more like a plea and each blow gets stronger. You don't hear anything that's going on around you, you just hit the bat against the wall and scream, thinking that it will make your pain less real.
Tears are still pouring out of your eyes, you can feel the salty taste in your mouth. You throw the bat on the floor and it falls with a loud bang. Now your hands are hitting the wall and you feel your knuckles getting scratched, but you didn't care. Now the most horrifying screams are coming out of your throat.
âHey, buddy. Iâm on my way, do you want anything?â
âDad, please hurry up! Mommy is not well.â
âWhat do you mean? What happened?â
Eddie's body immediately tensed up and he accelerated the car to get home faster.
âI donât know, I keep calling her, but she wonât answer.â â Eddie heard heavy thuds and screams in the background.
âOkay, Chris, donât worry, Iâm almost here.â
Eddie ran to the house and opened the door. During those minutes while he was driving in the car, he wanted only one thing - for both of you to be okay.
He saw Chris near your shared bedroom and immediately ran up to him.
âChris, are you okay? Whereâs mom?â
âShe locked herself in the bedroom. I tried to call her, but she was screaming really hard.â
âOkay, buddy. Sit in the living room, please, Iâm gonna go get her, okay?â
âOkay.â â Eddie watched Chris go.
âHey baby, itâs me. Can I come in?â
He didn't hear anything. Just the silence that didn't give him any peace of mind.
âOkay, Iâm going to come in, (Y/N). Stay away from the door.â
Eddie kicked down the door and was finally able to enter the bedroom. The first thing he saw were holes in the wall. He took two steps and saw you sitting on the floor with your back leaning on the bed frame. Your legs were pressed against your chest and your head was in your lap. Eddie saw your shoulders shaking and heard you sobbing.
He immediately knelt down and cupped your face in his hands so that you could look at him.
âHey. Hey, hey, Iâm here, baby. Whatâs wrong? Please talk to me.â â he saw your red eyes and wet face from crying.
When you finally looked at him, you saw his frightened eyes. He was looking for an answer in your eyes and patiently waited for you to explain everything to him.
âHe almost killed her, Eddie. I should have done more. I heard everything.â â the tears started to flow with renewed vigor and a sound more like a whine came out of your mouth.
âShh, mi amor. Iâm here.â â Eddie wrapped you in his arms and you cried into his shoulder. He stroked your hair soothingly and said sweet nothings in your ear. âLet it out, baby. Iâm right here.â
He hated seeing you like this. He knew that his job was difficult and that he was risking his life, but he knew that your job is 100 times more difficult emotionally because you hear every pain, fear and suffering of other people when you get a call.
âWeâre right out here, Chris, donât worry.â
You are now in the kitchen and Eddie has left Chris's room. You were sitting at the table and looking at your hands. Your knuckles are red and swollen from the blows and your head has so many regrets. You scared Chris.
âIs he okay?â â you asked in a whisper and didn't want to think about hurting Chris. That's your biggest fear.
âHeâs still scared. Makes two of us.â
Eddie sat down across from you and you looked up. You were so upset for what you had done and it was eating you up.
âIâm so sorry. The last thing I wanted was for Chris to be scared of me.â
âHey.â â Eddie took your hand. âHeâs not scared of you, he was scared for you.â
âDid he call you?â
âHe did. I got here as fast as I could.â
You chuckled. This scenario is ironically similar. A call from a child who asks to be saved from a parent. Only his call was to save you. And it hit you with an epiphany. You wanted so badly to never put Chris in danger that you unwittingly reproduced it into reality.
âI got a call today.â â you finally started explaining. âIt was a little girl and she asked for help, because her dad was abusing her. A-andâŠâ â your voice faltered, but you continued. âThen he beat her up and I heard her screaming.â
âOh, mi amor. Iâm so sorry.â â Eddie squeezed your hand, but you got up and walked over to him. He immediately realized that you wanted to sit on his lap and gave you this opportunity.
âI still canât shake the feeling that I should have done more. And now I doubt that I can protect Chris. I canât even do it at work.â
âLook at me, (Y/N).â â he put his hand on your face and looked into your eyes. âDo you know why Chris started calling you Mom? Because he feels safe with you. You make him feel loved and protected. And that's all we can both ask for. You are enough.â
He kissed your cheek and continued.
âIâm sorry you had that call and you had to hear all of that. But you did everything and even more, Iâm sure of it. You saved that little girl. Who knows what would have happened if help had arrived 2 minutes later. But YOU did everything in time.â
And you realized that your job does not consist of personally being at the scene of accidents. Your job is to make sure that help arrives at the right time and you did a damn good job.
You smiled and felt relieved. You didn't look at this situation from Eddie's point of view and that's what got you. You wrapped your arms around Eddie's neck and buried your fingers in his hair.
He pressed you closer and kissed you on the shoulder. Every bad thought disappeared when he was around. And his arms always caught you when you started to fall to the bottom.
You heard the notification sound on your phone and pulled it out of your pocket. It was a message from Josh:
âAudrey is alive and stable. They say it was perfect timing.â
âAlways on time, huh?â â Eddie saw the message and smiled at you.
âI like to be punctual.â
He pressed his lips to yours and kissed you gently. He's always here to rescue you, and you're always here to answer quickly.
