Well goddamn it’s been a minute since a TV show had me audibly gasping but the latest 911 sure did.

(Spoilers spoilers spoilers)

Like I have zero faith in network TV but could they have cued up buddie any better…? Genuinely?

Buck being all in with a guy - comfortable with his sexuality, ready to take the next step and commit.

Tommy saying that he knows how this ends, that he knows he won’t be Buck’s last boyfriend. How does he know that? What has he been thinking about?

Maybe it was how he had just given Buck him lakers tickets for their anniversary and then literally *told him to take Eddie*

omg even in the call centre, Josh asked if there was another guy. Is there buck? Is there??

They even introduce the damn Kinsey scale I mean I wonder when that might come into play…

They finally put a bow on the Abby thing, good on them. Been waiting for that shoe to drop. That’s done now - exit stage left Tommy, thank you for your service.

And enter stage right, Eddie. Who has decided to finally stop punishing himself.

Who has (with the help of a catholic priest) just given himself permission to feel joy. You know, the dancing in your underwear kind of joy.

This priest, by the way, prompted Eddie to say he’s straight. In an episode with an extended (and quite moving) monologue about why some queer people lie to others and themselves for years before they come out.

So we end the episodes with one heartbroken bisexual man who was just dumped and put him on the doorstep of his best friend (sans pants) with some beer.

Can you hear the fanfics being written, my friends. Can you hear it.

this is driving me insane and i am not sure why has nobody talked about it yet - the promo for 8x08 - "high water"??? having to save people from drowning??? hello??? is that not an indirect call-back to the tsunami?

i would have not batted an eye if it was a standalone, but with them revisiting buddie nde greatest hits it looks sooo suspicious.

and it is hella suspicious that it is not talked about at all. like zero reactions from the characters who lived seeing their close friend almost die, in a well and then by being struck by lighting while on a ladder AND rebar. i am not sure if the writers are doing it as a (not-so-subtle) subtle nod to the audience or if it has actually any meaning.

the fact that they keep using these moments in promos is making me wonder if they are using it to bait the hardcore fans.

“Shit,” Buck says when Eddie gives him a reprieve. “Y’re good at that.”

“Hmm? At what?”

“Kissing.”

Eddie giggles. Fucking giggles what the fuck.

Buck wants to bottle the sound. Wants to force Eddie to make it again. Wants to record it and use it as ammo in the future.

“Buck, why do you look mad about that?” Eddie asks, bruised mouth curved into a slashing kind of smile, once that could cut Buck wide open. He sort of hopes it does. Thinks about asking Eddie to try.

But Eddie asked him a question and Buck doesn’t really know the answer. He’s not mad per se, but…He can’t say he expected it exactly. Not that he expected Eddie to be a bad kisser, just–

“I don’t know. It’s just–I don’t know. I’ve kissed a lot more people than you have so I guess I’m wondering how you got this good.”

“Jesus, Buck. Ever thought that maybe it’s not about quantity?”

Buck frowns. “No.”

Eddie cackles, mirthful and amused and probably frustrated too based on the squint of his eyes. “Poor thing,” he croons, curving his back in a way Buck didn’t think possible and nudging their noses together. “Upset that I’m better than you?”

“Okay,” Buck scoffs, “you’re not.”

“Does it matter when you’re reaping the benefits?” Eddie asks, calm and collected though the rich throatiness of his voice gives him away. As does the little circling thing his hips are doing and the sweet little touch his thumb leaves behind Buck’s ear.

8x06 spec

okay okay HEAR ME OUT

so in 8x06 they have a call to a lawyers office right? and the stills make it look like the man and the woman are getting a divorce. maybe they're figuring out how to split their assets...

maybe buck and Tommy discuss moving in together in this episode or they drop the 'ily', and buck becomes a bit ?!?!? because obviously his last serious relationship with Taylor didnt really work out.

and then the 118 go on this call and buck is even more like ?!?!? after seeing these people like fighting it out over a vase or something when they used to be madly in love, and he starts to spiral thinking him and Tommy might end up like that...

so he goes to dispatch for advice, and Maddie and josh basically tell him that that won't happen to him and Tommy and he needs to stop worrying over stuff that hasn't happened yet. maybe Maddie asks him how he really feels and he has the "I do love him" moment which clarifies it for him.

esp because, lets be honest, Maddie and josh look wayyyy to happy in those stills...

so maybe it ends with buck and Tommy actually talking their worries through instead of buck bottling it up, he's actually honest about how he's feeling the time. buck is getting off the hamster wheel, working through relationship hurdles, trying to make the relationship work, and doing things with purpose instead of finding himself in situations with no idea how he got there. this relationship means something different this time, it's not going to be easy (as teased...).

not quite sure how it links with the teased 'Tommys past', maybe he has a big failed previous relationship... not sure.

one main reason for thinking this is because there's usually a call that mimics what's going on in their personal lives.. something symbolic, meant to make them realise something. if the call is what I think it is, it could be very poignant for buck and Tommy (in a positive way, obvs).

Buck realization moment 8x8??

I’m trying to lower my expectations because I don’t want to be disappointed come March if nothing happens, but seriously what else are they doing!!??

Him going to Eddie every time he thinks about Tommy (after the breakup in 8x6 and now this scene!)

Please have Buck realize his feelings, or have this be the beginning of it. Make that his arc in 8B! Have him hook up with random people to cope with these new feelings/with the news that Eddie is leaving. Then have him realize he needs Eddie! Have him spiral out of control! This is the slow burn setup for a relationship that Oliver Stark wants for Buck!

March 6th could not come sooner!

Thanks for the tagging @elvensorceress you are making me dig around my ‘deleted scenes.’ lol. Which actually I’ve always wanted to share scenes from fics I liked but didn’t make it in to the final cut for various reasons. This was a deleted scene from In The End. This a coda from 8x6.

“Why are you pants-less?”

Eddie laughed and shrugged. His hand disappeared from Buck’s thigh and he’s cold suddenly. “Have you ever seen Risky Business?”

“No.”

“I was obsessed with it as a kid. I loved the dance.”

 Buck spent a second too long taking in Eddie’s thighs.

 “So you decided to dance around in your underwear?”

 “It’s from the movie,” Eddie said with an eye roll. “And – and I decided that maybe I should stop punishing myself.”

Buck bumped his knee against Eddie’s. “You just decided that, huh?”

 “I was given unsolicited advice.”

  “From whom?”

 “A priest. There was an analogy about juice and water and – he said I have a lot of things to be joyful about,” Eddie turned to him. His thigh pressed against Buck’s and he’s warm again. Like pulling the covers over himself in bed after spending too long out in the cold. “Chris, my parents—”

Buck made a face.

“And our job…” Eddie trailed off with a sudden blush coming to his cheeks. His gaze flickered down and back up to Buck. He nibbled on his lip as if he’s trying to hold back the words. “But the one thing he didn’t say – something, someone who brings me a lot of joy… it’s, well, it’s you.”

Buck blinked rapidly. 

Eddie’s smile was a little shy; the edges holding a secret Buck wanted to poke at to find out. He pocketed it for another time.

There was a hopefulness in Eddie’s eyes, a soft tilt of his lips, a flush to his cheeks. 

He’s always the person Buck wanted to be around. Sitting on the couch with Eddie, well, it’s the place where he belongs. It’s why he came here because he knew he’d be welcome; he knew he’d be accepted; he knew he’d be loved. 

Eddie was everything to Buck.

Buck smiled, “Yeah, you bring me joy too, Eddie.”

The grin on Eddie’s face is blinding, like snow catching sunlight and Buck takes another sip of his beer if only to try to diminish the smile on his own face. But like the sun rising, his own jubilation around Eddie is inevitable.

something about eddie being so desperate to fulfil the heteronormative white picket dream for his son that he conjured the ghost of his dead wife. and it drove his son away. it broke their relationship.

and then this season saying, carefully and gently, that if you care more about internalised expectations than real people you will fail those people. like eddie talking sense to the father who rejected his cheerleader son.

and this episode saying, explicitly, that some queer people don’t come to their truth easily. but you respect their journey anyway.

and then buck showing up at eddie’s door.

“Buck,” Eddie breathes and it sounds devastating.

Buck doesn’t want to hear his name said any other kind of way again.

“Buck,” Eddie says again, everything about him startled and giving off alarms that ring in Buck’s ears and scratch at his skin. “We shouldn’t–I’m not–” he breaks off, brow furrowed like he’s trying to figure something out and is apprehensive about the answer.

“This is a bad idea,” Eddie settles on saying. It sounds true, like he means it, but he’s swaying a bit, as if caught in a daze, and can’t look away from Buck’s lips, so…Buck isn’t exactly sure what to do here.

But he does know what he wants. He knows what he’s feeling, for the most part anyway. And he knows what hasn’t worked for him and he knows that Eddie kissed him like it was salvation.

So, Buck says, “Gotta be honest, I’m kind of sick of good ideas,” with a low tone as he swipes his thumb over the red curve of Eddie’s cheek.

Good ideas haven’t really gotten him much and he reckons he is due for a couple bad ones. Even if no part of Eddie could be bad. Even if he’s having a hard time convincing himself that this is in fact a bad idea, because anything with Eddie can only be good, only ever has been good, even when it’s been awful.

they will absolutely never mention the Abby Tommy connection again. It was a cheap stunt that had zero impact on the rest of the story in 8x6 or beyond and Tim droped storylines that had way more sense than this one. Most of the people who watch this show prolly did not even remember the boyfriend that was mentioned years ago which is why they had Josh come in for an exposition dump cloaked in this masturbatory Glee speech. I also think the fact that the timeline does not fit AT ALL was the reason they cut the scene between Buck and Bobby that Oliver talked about. What was Bobby going to say? "Yeah, Tommy was engaged while he worked here to this women you were pining over for months and I never mentioned it not even when you started dating him"

Tim just has to pack is bags already and move to the spin off fulltime. He is creating a mess on OG

I mean yeah, it would be so easy to not mention it and it would track with how the show treats continuity - which sucks for most things but i will fucking welcome it for this. Also there's no reason to mention it, so. 🤞

'masturbatory Glee speech' has me chuckling because YES that's EXACTLY what it was! 😂 gawd i hated it so much.

What was the cut scene between Buck and Bobby? What ep was it supposed to be in?

But yeah - the og 118 would've known something about Tommy's supposed fiance, and also Josh? Did he work at dispatch same time as Abby? He would've known things. The whole thing just reads like someone who had a random plot idea in the middle of the night and wrote it down without remembering that previous plotpoints and established timelines and characters negate it, like it makes no sense, like it should've had a few more passes instead of rushing off the hot mess that it was to get published as the final edit, y'know?

If tim doesn't have the time or care to give these beloved characters the narrative they deserve then he should pass the torch now rather than run them into the ground. Because it's not just the Abby shit, it's the fumbling of Gerrard's storyline which should've focused on his bigoted bs and Tommy and Buck (giving their relationship more screentime and meaningful plot) and yes the rest of the diverse 118 should've played a key part in dealing with and dismantling that. But especially Tommy, given everything he'd mentioned about Gerrard and what we saw of the og 118 and Tommy mentioning his father - it was the perfect opportunity for some angsty backstory and the development of meaty dramatic plot.

And Hotshots? I was so looking forward to some actual meta fun but what we got instead was irritating, plot-hogging drivel and too much fucking Brad.

I still maintain that a great filler episode would've been Hotshots playing on the tv in the background of various scenes at the 118 and on calls and at their homes, the camera transitioning between on-set or high-def Hotshots scenes that pull out into rhe physical screens of tvs and then into whatever the firefam was up to at various points throughout the week(s). It might have started as a watch party for Bobby's premiere episodes and that kickstarts or clues us into certain firefam watching the show whether to poke fun and complain or because they like the dramatised plot. And they could've tied some of what was happening on the show into the 911 plotpoints.

Tim dropped the ball so hard this season (8A). The only episodes i enjoyed start to end and thought were written really well was the premiere with the bees and the halloween ep (although i think the car crash was a bit much, wish it was just a fun filler ep like the treasure hunt ep or the bank robbery).

I think the craziest part of 8x6 is the fact that Buck and Eddie said NOTHING to each other the entire episode and yet they were there and working together and on the same page. I am going to cry so hard when they go canon.
