AvA and AvM Characters and What I Think Their Music Tastes Are
TSC: Generally likes most types of music, but goes weirdly feral for 2000’s/2010’s teen girl music
Red: Has two sides: cute core music and the HARDEST phonk and breakcore, to the point where if the bass doesn’t burst your eardrums, the drum solos will
Yellow: Listens to video game OST’s 90% of the time (helps serve as background noise for longer build projects) but usually defaults to indie rock when passed the Aux
Green: His taste is heavily reliant on his mood, but he holds a soft spot for electro swing
Blue: Jack Stauber and other dreamcore/weirdcore stuff. He says that he just likes the sound, but in reality it’s because nether wart is slightly hallucinogenic and it makes his trips better.
Purple: Classic rock fan and knows the lyrics for basically every Queen song that exists.
Orange: Physically cannot listen to music that isn’t orchestral because he’s a dramatic mother fucker
TCO: Will never tell anyone that he only listens to the soundtracks from Broadway musicals
TDL: “Oh, I listen to these super niche indie artists. I wouldn’t expect you to have heard of them, and I doubt you would like their music anyway” is what he usually says. He is a liar it’s just Bo Burnham and Tom Cardy
Victim: Genuinely prefers silence to any music.

I'm intrigued to knowing what type of music genre they all listen to, but we all know alcina likes jazz. But other than jazz, does she likes something else? 👀
Also, what type of music does Miranda even listen to? OMMGGG???
Miranda has two things she listens to. Publicly she listens to classical and like world recognized musicians. In private she listens to 80s-90s pop and yes I'm sorry to tell you she listens to Taylor Swift
She actually really likes Linkin Park
Donna likes listening to Michael Buble and Christina Perri too, people with soft voices that can be calming and as previously mentioned Mitski and Alt Rock
Cinder
for bela, she likes classical because she uses it to help her study, but she likes to a lot of angrier classical music like Dance of the Knights by Prokofiev
cassandra listens to a lot of musicals (heathers candy store is her number one song….for reasons, but she also likes cell block tango from chicago)
daniela likes listening to indie rock, old school rock, lo-fi for calmer moments when she wants to relax, but mostly she'll listen to everything, even angie's awful dj mixes
angie likes music that gets her hyper- think edm, house, rave, techno, pop music or remixes of popular songs. she hates classical because she thinks it's boring, and she also hates slow songs
alcina is mainly jazz, but she does on the occasion indulge in some swing and is surprised to find she doesn't mind electro swing but would never admit this to anyone or be caught dead listening to it

Martha Kent and Lionel Luthor would so definitely be swingers.
Martha would have been into it out of rebelliousness toward her father.
Lionel would have grown up with it.
Yes yes. I know swing music died in the 40s and came back in the 90s, but we’re talking the midwest here. Things tend to change a lot slower the further out into rural America you go. So what is gone in the East, might last a little longer beyond the Appalachias.
And swing music just didn’t die in Metropolis. It evolved. It became what we now call Electro Swing. Favorite of Metropolis night clubs, especially for the older adults like Lionel and Martha.
Lex also liked it because it irritated his father, not realizing his father was a swinger in his teenage years. Lionel just didn’t appreciate the part where Lex brought home girls, cause he damn well knows that swing dancing and music is also 100% sexual as well about rebellion and dancing.
So Lionel is very surprised when Martha wants to swing dance at a night club they went to and a electro swing piece started playing. Her surprise is that he knows the moves.

At The Demon Bar, all patrons are welcome as long as they follow the rules and don't cause any trouble. This does include criminals, but plenty of patrons with a good heart come in without fear of getting hurt or robbed due to the bar's strict neutral zone policy. These six are frequent visitors, some of them even lend a hand in enhancing the bar's community and atmosphere.
I cleaned up this page and I'm most of the way through cleaning up the next page, if I have time hopefully I'll be able to post the last two tomorrow
And of course, if you wanna know more about these characters you can read more down below
Rambunctious and chaotic, Felicia’s always up for downing a pint at the bar, beating the crap out of some jerk, or both at the same time (though she has been kicked out a few times for this). She’s a lovable energetic riot with a fierce rage within her thanks to her being half war demon. She's friends with Blain plus two of the members of the bar's staff Karsiffiks and Amaranth. When she's not at the bar or hanging out with friends, she's working at the local mechanic's shop putting her war demon strength to good use.
Blain is a lot more calm reserved than Felicia, mainly because of his night guard job at the town's shopping center. It's tedious and boring work, but it's the closest thing he was able to get for his dream job of being a police officer. Plus him being one quarter ice demon and one quarter shadow demon makes it easy for him to trip up and stop the occasional troublemaking trespasser. Besides coffee, Felicia is his best friend, the two of them being close ever since middle school.
Moppet Felse is a quiet and timid catfolk who works as a tailor. She frequently visits the The Demon Bar to provide her talents on the violin to the bar's electro swing band. She also hosts a small weekly knitting cub during the day when business is slow. She has a very hard time standing up for herself if one of the more dubious patrons tries to mess with her, but just about everyone else agrees that you do not mess with sweet little Moppet.
Talisa is an odd case. She's a chaos demon but her magic can't be controlled directly, instead things tend to just... happen around her. For example every Tuesday poor Quirlos gets smacked by a door if she happens to be around. Besides that, she's a peppy part time worker at The Demon Bar who plays the saxophone in the bar's band if the bouncer Seltic can't play that night.
Rardoqu is a water and poison demon with some hella sick sound mixing skills who got himself a sweet gig in The Demon Bar's band. He loves the Shibuya Punk aesthetic and games from the late 90’s and early Y2K era (think Jet Set Radio, PaRappa the Rapper, or Vib-Ribbon). He mainly plays rhythm games, if there's a vs mode he likes to play against his little brother Kredin, though he usually ends up crushing the poor kid.
The last patron is known as Creepiness or Creepy. He has a real name but he always gets the worst stroke of luck whenever he tries to tell it to someone. It doesn't help that he has a common disorder amongst fear demons known as frozen face syndrome which renders him mute. He also lacks physical limbs, he's only able to pick stuff up or write by manipulating the sleeves of his coat. It really is a shame, he's actually a very nice and friendly guy despite his uncanny appearance.

Alrighty here is the finished art of my Trollsona (I only finished adding shade and highlights to the hair lol)
I'm going to repeat somewhat of what I mentioned in the repost but add a little bit more background to her as well and maybe some head cannons
Now yes, as I said before she is a techno troll tho she also loves other genres like electro-swing, pop, rap, jazz etc. Her name is Lyra since I thought naming her after me (Blue) wouldn't make much sense considering the majority of her design is pink and greenish-blue with only about 30% of it actually being blue. Though I will still use Blue as a nickname.
The arms and fins were inspired by lava lamps sort of but the colors would never bounce around like how an actual lava lamp would. Instead if they were ever animated the particles would kind of just move around and make little glittery effects mostly near the cyan parts like water in the sea.
Her father is a big inspiration to her music tastes since he would usually play old school songs from the 90s, 80s, and early 2000s for her. He used to be a DJ with Trollex's father and they were good buddies that would still be in contact with each other. He usually goes by the name DJ Liege but I haven't decided what his actual name would be yet.
I have a hc that there would be 7-14 DJs when it came to the main set they would put on for all of the kingdom so the DJs can regularly switch out with each other (this excludes any extra parties or clubs so ofc there's a lot more than 14 DJs in the whole kingdom). Or backups can step in if one DJ isn't able to make it for the night. This is also how they can put on sets for multiple days at a time when it comes to special events like a marathon.
Eventually her father would retire his position so he could settle and help care for a young Lyra at the time (about 8 or 9 years old at the time). He has also met Trollex as a teen (prob while Trollex was 14-16) on occasion before he retired when Trollex's father was showing him the ropes and he had been starting to do his own sets.
Well that's kind of all I have for now but I may make a glowing art version of Lyra plus some silly doodles. If you have any questions about Lyra and her dad or just curiosity about the background then please ask! I'd love to hear it!
#I appreciate those who stuck around to the end#trolls#techno trolls#trolls 2#trollsona#fanart#i tried to make the drawing look more crisp but I could only save it as a raster image#digital art#I kinda brain vomited a bit#noticing this after reading this a few hours later and how some parts may not make the most sense to ppl who can't see my thoughts

In celebration of the Animaniacs reboot’s THIRD season coming out soon…
I’m going to list a few things I think the second season of the reboot does better than the first. Here we go:
1. It gave Nora some much needed development. She gets more screen time in general this season, and because of that her character is more fleshed out now. We find out she's a mother and despite the fact that she had previously been established as selfish in season 1, she buys her daughter whatever she wants to compensate for her lack of parenting skills. That doesn't necessarily make her a good mother, but she's clearly trying.
We also find out the reason why Nora's a competitive person and why she mostly only looks out for herself-her upbringing. We're shown that her sisters often belittle and mock her. Not only that but her sisters are twins, so Nora undoubtedly felt like the odd one out amongst her siblings all her life.
There's also her great grandmother Flora Dora, who's is a very successful business woman that Nora looks up to, and it seems like she aspires to be just as successful as Flora Dora. Flora Dora also constantly organizes competitions at family gatherings, something that clearly reinforced if not encouraged her to be a competitive person who's a firm believer in pulling up the ladder behind her.
2. It goes even further with the dark and adult humour than season 1 did. Season 1 had a few instances of characters going from saying hell and had blood onscreen a couple times, and the swear jokes were more blatant than ever, but otherwise was about as adult as Animaniacs usually is. In season 2 we still have blatant swear jokes...AND a character admitting to inc*st, slavery and genocide are mentioned and not sugar-coated at all, Nora straight up mentions doing drugs, Pinky unintentionally committing murder...there's quite a bit of death this season actually, etc. Granted this shouldn't be too surprising because the reboot does have a higher age rating than the original series ('93 was TV-Y, the reboot is TV-PG). Animaniacs is literally more adult than ever (whilst still being a kids show of course) and I am here for it.
3. THE SONGS!!! Season 1's songs were very good, Animaniacs songs usually are, but season 2's music was really, REALLY good! It had a lot of variety too: rock, rap, parody songs, Broadway showstoppers, electro pop, swing, etc. My personal favourites were "Warner's Ark", "I Am The Very Model of an Ancient Roman Emperor", "Magna Cartoon", and "Yakko's Big Idea" (*cough*buy/stream the soundtrack*cough*).
4. The "running gag"/recurring joke of the season was better (there are less reboot jokes). Season 1 was funny, but I gotta admit they ran the whole "this is a reboot of a 90's show" joke into the ground. Like I get that the show is meta but they made that joke every other episode to the point where felt like they were repeating themselves. So I'm glad season 2 dropped that. There are quite a few jokes about and references to "Yakko's World", but 1) They at least tell us something about Yakko as a character by showing how much he values that song and that he seems to canonically be sentimental towards it, and 2) They were more creative with how they would reference it or use it for a joke each time, whereas most jokes about the show acknowledging that it's a reboot in season 1 are essentially just the characters stating "this is a reboot of a 90's show!" over and over again.
Plus bonus things I wanted that aren't necessarily "improvements":
A Plotz Cameo
Assuming that was him and not just an expy or relative of Plotz. If it was him does that mean he's not retired? Is he just an actor now? Either way it was cool to see!
A Wakko Song
I was hoping Wakko would get a song number this season, and he did! ("Gruesome Ol' Gruel"). Maybe we could get a longer one next time though? Like, at least a minute or two? Preferably a rock song please? Honestly I think Wakko has the best singing voice of the three Warners, I just wanna hear him sing more!
A Yakko Solo Segment
...probably should explain this one. You see, in the original show Wakko has SIX stories basically all to himself where his siblings either aren't in it for long or don't appear at all ("Potty Emergency", "Clown ‘n’ Out", "Ups and Downs", "Bingo", "Go Fish", and “Ten Short Films About Wakko Warner”). He even gets another one in the reboot "Wakko's Short Shorts: Now Loading"). Now on it's own I don't mind this, in fact I think it's a good idea for each Warner sibling to get their chance to shine on their own without their siblings every now and again...the problem is that didn't really happen. Other than "Dot’s Quiet Time" (a segment's that basically a song number full of gags) and "Dot’s Poetry Corner" (a series of very short bumpers), Dot only got one story segment, “Cute First (Ask Questions Later)”, and even that took 93 episodes to get to...in a 99 episode series. Great.
Meanwhile Yakko literally only gets to star in a segment on his own if it’s a song ("Yakko’s World", "Yakko’s Universe", etc) or if it’s a one off gag/series of bumpers they’ll only do for one episode ("Useless Facts", "Disasterpiece Theatre", etc). Other than that he has ZERO stories in which he stars by himself without his siblings being present for a lot of it. Admittedly, Yakko was kind of a spotlight stealer in earlier episodes of the original show, so maybe the writers caught on to that and gave the other two solo segments intentionally, but still none of those segments were just him, his sibs were still there. I just would've liked to see Yakko star (mostly or entirely without his siblings) in a segment with a story (not one where the whole segment is a song, not a bumper segment) just once.
So imagine my delight when the reboot not only gave us just that, but also made it an homage to my favourite Looney Tunes short, "Duck Amuck".
"Yakko Amakko" was one the highlights of season 2 to me, plus I loved the ending. He did what Daffy and even Bugs Bunny couldn't do, actually outwit the artist, how awesome is that?!
Many people thought season 2 was better than season 1, and I can see why (I personally like both seasons about the same-I think season 1 is better than season 2 in some areas, but season 2 is better than season 1 in others). There's also little things like Dr Scratchansniff being a recurring character again or how they actually referenced the PatB spin off this season (because correct me if I'm wrong but season 1 never made a direct reference to the spin off) that I almost listed but didn't have too much to say about them. They were neat.
Hopefully season 3 will turn out to be the best season yet!

Heyy! Love your work!
What do you think would 141 + Alejandro and Rudy hear for a music genre?
Sorry it’s taken so long! I get too in my head about these things haha. These are quite short 💕
Price 🥃
Price strikes me as someone who loves old school British Bands. The Jam, The Cure, Oasis, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, AC/DC and he definitely loves Queen.
His favourite Queen sons is ‘Crazy little thing called love’
Soap 🧼
Soap strikes me as liking 90s dance/trance but with a little sprinkling of what Price likes too. His playlist gets him through the gym. Also anything 80s electro.
He knows every single word to Will Smith ‘Gettin jiggy with it.’
But his favourite song is Diplo - Your eyes (Hibel remix) he loves it for running
Ghost 💀
He strikes me as rock/nu metal. We’re talking Nirvana, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Metallica, The Doors, Deftones, Papa Roach, Evanescence, Korn, Rage against the machine.
Though I think he likes a bit of DnB when he’s in the mood, Sub Focus, Chase and Status, Pendulum yanno?
His favourite song is Linkin Park - Points of Authority
Gaz 🇬🇧
Gas strikes me as an eclectic. He loves everything, it just depends on his mood. Loves everything from 40s swing to the heaviest metal/rock.
His favourite song again depends on his mood.
Alejandro 🌹
This man loves ballards, he’s passionate and that comes across in his music taste. Bon Jovi, Bonnie Tyler, Alicia Keys, Tears for Fears, Celine Dion, Whitney Huston. And he’s got a damn good singing voice.
His favourite song is Tears for Fears - Everybody want to rule the world
Rudy ❤️
Rudy strikes me as a pop/dance king. MJ, TLC, Nicki Minaj, Nelly Furtado, Jason Deruuulooooo, J-Lo, Avicii, Afrojack, Usher, Amy Winehouse.
His favourite song is MJ - Blood on the Dance floor

lil fankid lore drop hamako fucking loves everything 30s/40s. especially music. “i was born in the wrong generation” not in a 30-40 years late sense but in a 80-90 years sense. her whole playlist is jazz/blues/swing. she heavily would heavily fw electro swing as well. i like her. her favourite more modern artist is 100% caro emerald.
#zambling (zach rambling)#her number one interest is marine biology and the navy and shit#her number two is jazz#make a “ya like jazz” joke and she will kill you though. lmao#i guess i’ll tag her#hamako oogami#i say those time spans because she would be born in the 2020s

Today's compilation:
Out Patients 2000 Future Jazz / Broken Beat / Drum n Bass
Checked out this sweet turn-of-the-millennium electronic comp over the past couple days called Out Patients, the first installment in a three-volume series that was put out on UK label Hospital Records. Originally launched in 1996, Hospital was founded by London Elektricity, a duo who, sometime in the early 2000s, decided to downsize to just one member, Tony Colman, so the former member, Chris Goss, could devote more time and energy to running Hospital himself.
Now, if you know anything about either Hospital or LE beyond what I've just told you, then you know that what they're both primarily known for is their drum n bass output. In fact, in their first four years of existence, that's all Hospital pretty much ever released. However, in 2000, with the launching of this little, cleverly titled Out Patients series—songs that largely laid outside of Hospital's own sonic radius—they decided to venture a little out of their comfort zone.
So, ultimately, what we have here are a bunch of groovy electronic lounge-type vibes that largely come in the form of future jazz and broken beat—a pair of oft-intertwined electronic genres that were both surging at around the same exact time. Broken beat was this wonderful, broadly-defined music that saw fundamentals of drum n bass taken to a sharper, more complicated and unorthodox abstraction, and its rhythms would be integrated into future jazz, a type of jazz-infused electronic music that succeeds the late 80s-to-mid-90s UK phenomenon of acid jazz, and hearkens back to the halcyon days of free-flowing jazz fusion from the 70s and 80s too; also known as nu jazz.
And even though this is just an exclusive dozen tracks from a label that'd never really put out this type of material before, Hospital was still able to get a few notable names to contribute to this release here: veteran Uschi Classen, who in addition to her own solo material, had also been in a bunch of groups, like Ashley Beedle's Black Science Orchestra and the Ballistic Brothers; dnb trio Aquasky; and Mr. Scruff, whose biggest claim to fame is this very popular electro swing tune—one of the only decent ones that's ever been made—and if you're an American of a certain age, you might remember it from an old ad campaign for Lincoln's full lineup of vehicles too.
Here's one of those ads with Michael Clarke Duncan!
youtube
But, to me, the best song on this release has to be "Action," by Japan's Yukihiro Fukutomi. Fukutomi himself was his own entity too by the time this song had been included on this very comp, but the vast majority of his music had only ever been released in Japan; so when he appeared on Out Patients, it was likely the first time that many people outside of Japan had ever heard him before. And those people were probably fuckin' dazzled, because the combination of constantly shifting broken beat drum rhythm and Fukutomi's whiny old school keyboard improv here is simply diabolical 😈. Get lost in this super craggy shit!
And something that also needs pointing out here is that even though most of this comp isn't drum n bass, there are still a couple dnb tunes on here anyway. And as someone who really loves it when people just *straight-up rap* over drum n bass beats, I can't leave this post without mentioning MC Mello and London Elektricity's bouncy "Melloizdaman." This is just such a cool and fun tune, overall, and I especially love how LE add this warm coat of ambient synth to their double bass-infused beat after the first verse. Usually rappers need to rap over steady beats in order to maintain their own timing and flow, and while LE don't mess with the rhythm itself here, they're still able to enhance their tune further with this added synth in order to keep it sounding fresh. Really great stuff 🤩.
So a pretty dope set of early 2000s tunes from Hospital Records here. Mostly not the kind of electronic music that they're typically known for releasing, but they included some nice, previously unheard tracks on this album nonetheless 👍.
And if you want the type of stuff that Hospital *is* known for, check out this post I did a few months ago on Plastic Surgery 2, a double-disc comp and DJ mix that featured them on the 2-step liquid funk trend, a more mass-appealing strain of drum n bass that grew to be very popular in the UK in the mid-to-late 2000s that they themselves were on the forefront of.
Highlights:
Liane Carroll - "The Trap" Uschi Classen - "Tocatta (The Indigo Blue Mix)" Aquasky - "Another Day" Skitz + Julie Dexter - "Be...." Landslide - "Golden Cavalier" London Elektricity - "Incurable" Space Clique - "Exit #1: Luna Park" MC Mello vs. London Elektricity - "Melloizdaman" Yukihiro Fukutomi - "Action" Marcus Intalex & S.T. Files - "Taking Over Me"

I have made Spotify playlists for:
Writing Inspo for each of my WIPs (for me, mostly)
"Official" Playlists for my books (for the readers, mostly)
Now I embark upon a new musical venture:
Playlists that match what each character would listen to (for me AND the readers)
Mostly thinking of this in terms of New Constellations but like. Ann's playlist has a lot of folk rock and cute 90s pop. Jack's has lots of party/club songs because he is a lively and fun guy. Julius is really into Post-Modern Jukebox and other "make it vintage" kinds of sounds like electro-swing. All things that the reader would probably expect from these characters based on how they are portrayed in the book and how they present themselves.
And then Nicolas. THIS GUY (art credit @theboarsbride)
Nicolas listens almost exclusively to emo. Nicolas goes into his study to work on some grand art piece and all you hear from the outside, blaring at max volume, is: "WHEN I WAS. A YOUNG BOY. MY FATHER TOOK ME INTO THE CITY--"
And if it's not emo? It's metal. The hardest screechingest metal you've ever heard in your life before you went deaf from it.
#writeblr#writing humor#sometimes we do silly little things with our silly little guys#Nicolas is that one gif from Monsters University of the mom sitting in her car listening to her tunes and the tunes are screeching vocals#wip new constellations#anyway what would your characters listen to i'm curious

GIMME SOME GOOD SWING SONG RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE 1920s-30s >:3
OK SO
- heartache
- a long long time ago
- masochist tango (it's from the 1950s though.)
- and this is a whole playlist of them! But it's more music rather than actually sung songs.
I have other songs that are old, but most are from the 1980-90s!
These are playlists for electro swing that my friend gave me!
- first one
- second one
