Watching the movie 8mm as part of a sleazy neo noir research binge, and I can't possibly use it for the great detectives series which is a shame because I do kind of like the thought of Daniel Craig doing the Benoit Blanc voice asking if anyone knows where they sell the illegal pornography.
Some gorgeous super 8mm film home movies (Galapagos islands late 60s? ) shot by the late Norma Mastin. Mastin was a teacher and lifelong, passionate photographer. Last year I picked up a collection of her home movies which documented her lengthy travel all over the globe spanning many decades. οΏΌThereβs a LOT to go through. But this was a beautiful start. Great color. Shot in a thoughtful, professional way.
Joel Schumacher had a lot of weird kink stuff going on in his movies. For example:
The Lost Boys is famously homoerotic, but Schumacher also insisted that one of the boys be made a hot girl and based on what he says in Lost in the Shadows, seems to have cared a lot more about that character than I would have expected
8MM is about underground grey-market porn in the 1990s, and while it's a grimy thriller that sometimes seems shocked that kink exists at all, the character of Max the porn store guy is completely sympathetic and just kind of a fun kooky vulnerable hot boy.
Batman and Robin has been made fun of to hell and back for the rubber nipples, but I am here to tell you that the rubber nipples are, in fact, incredibly distracting
