Star Trek Voyager episode where Tuvok and Seven are part of an away team that're investigating some planet for resources and they find a ship that seems to be badly damaged, old, and abandoned. Once they get inside Seven can tell there was a Borg attack and Tuvok can tell it was a Vulcan ship.
The two of them come across the dead bodies of several of the crew (LONG dead, like, skeletal remains) piled in one room and Seven suggests they were too badly damaged in the attack to be assimilated. However, as she's looking closer at the console and Tuvok is examining a body - another body lurches from the shadows. A borg drone rushes out of the darkness and attacks Seven but Tuvok fights it off, leading to the both of them wrestling with one another until Seven is able to help disable it after it grabs onto Tuvok's head. Seconds later Tuvok seizes and then passes out. The team and Seven discuss why the hell there would be a fully functional borg drone away from the collective and in an abandoned ship. Harry brings up that the borg was Vulcan, maybe she was originally one of the crew? But that still doesn't solve the mystery of why the Borg was there. Seven mentions that the Borg Queen, when she tried to re-integrate her, seemed newly interested in adapting some level of individuality to the collective. This might be some sort of experiment. But what does she hope to gain...? Tuvok wakes up in sickbay only...it doesn't seem like Tuvok. It's nighttime and the Doctor is off. Tuvok goes over to the medical console and begins going through the crew manifest until he gets to Seven's profile. His blank demeanor changes into a mix of fear and murderous rage. "Seven....of Nine..." he mutters, then growls, his fingers curling. We see images of Seven in full borg getup, advancing, blood dripping from his hands as she reaches out. "Seven...of Nine..." So! The premise of the episode is that the now-dead Borg drone was an experiment by the Queen. She wants an individual consciousness which will work with her in her quest to assimilate other species as shown in 'Dark Frontier' and she knows the Voyager crew have the ability to do this so she might be doing small...experiments, from now on [potential for future episodes to explore this topic, what EXACTLY her goal was in this episode isn't resolved by the crew]. Whatever the experiment's intended purpose was, the result was the borg drone (now semi-conscious) flying into a murderous mix of rage, fear, and despair at seeing Seven of Nine and trying to kill her. Once that plan was foiled, the borg drone which had once been Vulcan instead used her last moments to impart her katra onto Tuvok. This process was quite...crude. Not done properly. It was done in a highly emotional state of mind (in a life-or-death situation with no Vulcan control left) and given to an unwilling bearer by surprise. As a result, Tuvok begins acting erratically without quite knowing what's wrong. Suddenly he's experiencing strong emotions which Are Vulcan but...not his own? And ALL of them are focused around Seven. He hates Seven. He's terrified of Seven. He wishes he could be Seven - alive, free. But he's? Why?? <- It causes a great amount of mental turmoil and confusion of identity Time goes on, the group tries to figure out what to do about the situation, what's going on, Tuvok figures out it's probably something to do with the katra, etc etc Eventually Seven wakes up from a regenerative cycle just in time to avoid an attack landing which would have been fatal. It's Tuvok and the two of them fight one another with everything they have. Tuvok remarks that she's doing well, does she know Vulcan martial arts? Seven responds that she's tapping into the collective memory. As they fight one another, we see flashbacks of Seven and the Vulcan Borg fighting one another in the past (assimilation) and present (Tuvok vanishing and appearing as an un-borg'ed version of the dead Vulcan) until Seven, about to die by the Vulcan's hand, calls out her name.

i’m sorry but there is just something SO endearing about jack quaid’s boimler drawing. like i’ve genuinely been thinking about it all day
Tumblr media
the scratchy lines at the top of the circle, the “raisin fields” label, boimler’s dead expression, the obvious garfield inspiration, his stupid hat, the wheat in his mouth…… like i have spent all day picking this drawing apart and it just never gets old for me. it’s so endearing.
even the description is endearing!
“Star Trek Lower Decks has gone where no Star Trek has gone before — Modesto, California. The home of Brad Boimler’s family vineyard, where the grapes are so dry that the ladies are thiiirsty for some farm boy. But nothing can bring Boimler back to his vineyard roots, not even a sexy jaunt to the pickery shed. Voice actor Jack Quaid has expertly depicted Boimler’s traumatic grape years with the Boimler Grape Escape Tee, now ripe for the pickin.”
it’s so obvious so much love has gone into this show from not just him, but the rest of the cast & people behind it
EDIT: made this post when i was on the brink of falling asleep and didn’t even think about linking the shirt for some reason. but here it is if you want :^)

I actually do wish Spirk was canon, but I want it to be entirely off-screen and just mentioned by other characters as a matter of fact. Like 'hey, did you know Starfleet only ever made one exception to their fraternization policy, and that was to allow Spock to serve under Kirk when they got married?' Or maybe there's a planet that's populated by Vulcan-Terran hybrids and everyone knows that it was founded by those two because the conditions were good for both species. No, Kirk wasn't the youngest captain in Starfleet, the record was actually beaten by his daughter Saavik two decades later. People say she struggled to live up to her parents' fame, poor thing. A hundred years later Kirk and Spock's messages to each other are published in two tomes. The High Council deems them so inappropriate that they're banned on Vulcan, et cetera.
Any depiction of Spirk on screen would be inherently disappointing because it's straight up impossible to live up to sixty years of fan-made content. The only way to make it good is to incorporate it into the lore and arouse even MORE speculation and fan-made content.
Feel free to disagree, though...if you could make Spirk canon, how would you do it?

Avery is a certified TV sci-fi hottie as Benjamin Sisko in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The first black star trek Captain, he also negotiated his signature look - the bald head and goatee - against haters who thought a Captain should always be clean-shaven. Thank God for that, because he looks devastatingly hot in a a goatee (a phrase never before uttered). He went on to direct several episodes of DS9, use his pleasant voice to record music and multiple host documentaries, and mostly retire from acting to teach as a professor.

with that wonderful stentorian baritone voice he could move from intimidating commander to gentle and compassionate space dad...benjamin sisko is a man of many qualities, thoughtful, morally complex, understatedly hilarious, a lil unhinged, really really excited about baseball, and avery brooks never fails to breathe life, depth and dimension into the character and also did i mention his voice. fun fact he was a professor of theater arts at rutgers while filming deep space nine and would occasionally teach classes via vhs tapes recorded on set, complete with starfleet uniform. he also directed a number of ds9 episodes including notable ones like "rejoined" and "far beyond the stars", and performed many of his own stunts as sisko. stunt coordinator dennis madalone said, "of all the stars that I've worked with on all the Star Treks, and all the other shows that I've been on other than Star Trek, I've never seen an actor so physically capable of just doing everything...every time I'd bring in a stunt double, he'd be angry, sitting on a bench, because Avery was doing so great." he's also a distinguished stage actor and an accomplished musician and singer who's performed everything from jazz to opera. science has yet to discover whether there's anything this man can't do.

And another thing I find hilarious about Garak is that - he is such a snob.
Like, Quark's too vulgar and loud for him, close range fighting is "undignified", no one can set a foot on the station without having this middle aged Cardassian criticizing their fashion choice right in front of their Bolinian salads or whatever, he debates epic literature at lunch, he has had Shakespeare for like 5 minutes and he is already quoting it during life or death emergencies.
And it's absolutely hilarious because this man chopped up his countrymen for a living.

thinking about that TNG episode where Riker says he never feels rested after sleeping and Dr Crusher tells him to just drink warm milk about it and then later it turns out he's been abducted by aliens 6 times and had his arm cut off. most accurate portrayal of dealing with the medical profession ever seen on screen

Love that Spock is a passenger princess. Completely out of the question that he drive himself in A Piece of the Action. His job is holding two huge guns and bitching about Kirk's driving
