Super niche but in a future AU with Steve and Robin (and Eddie dammit) in college or just post high school, I feel like Robin would def notice the rainbow guitar strap on one front feature 'Robert Palmer girls' in the addicted to love music video. Or if not Robin, Steve would. He's working and it's on the TV in lobby and the first time the camera pans to that guitarist, he thinks, nah, the strap is just colorful. But the second, third, fourth time the shot is focused on that same woman, he can't miss it. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's just the straps they had laying around and he's reading into it. But he tells Robin about it anyway. Because it's out there on TV. Shows her the video. And maybe the song is her style and maybe it's not. And maybe she agrees at first it's probably just coincidence.

But when everything else about those women is very obviously the same--exact same hair, makeup, dress, shoes, the instruments are all white--it seems too much of a deviation to be an accident. Such a blatant choice for two of them to have obviously different guitar straps. And the rainbow one is on the women IN FRONT. And the camera comes back to focus on her several times--never once to the women on the other side. That has to be some intentional representation...right?

I don't have more thought than that. Just I noticed growing up. And while I don't know if it was 'anything' or not, it was a little sign that I wasn't alone and people like me made it to adulthood.

I definitely dressed up as THAT ONE in particular for my freshman year's 80s night. Of course very few people (if any) had the same combination of music education and 80s music video knowledge combined with also being queer (at least where/when I went to college) so no one even knew what a Robert Palmer girl even was but 🤷🏻‍♂️
