because nova is going to be spending the summer with us to recover from top surgery, we've been playing animal crossing together on my switch, so every day i get to see what hes added to his home or the island... now forrest is joining us too!!!! i feel so happy, it reminds me of when i lived with my siblings and we did the same. i missed sharing

The raised floor emphasizes the already low ceilings. A wolfskin spread seems appropriate in the cavern-like space. Yet the open shelves and the flexibility of the sliding shojis keep any sense of confinement at bay.

had a scary dream last night abt inheriting an old abandoned mansion & getting involved in cult activity/a family curse/murders/town secrets/hidden rooms/horror/etc. scary! awful!! but when the plot of the dream was over i spent the rest of the night lucid dreaming about the history of the mansion & previous owners, interior design & layout, the property it was on, the main & minor characters of the town, etc.

a lot of the history of the mansion was people would only live in it for a short time (bc it was so spooky & cursed) then theyd either sell it for super cheap or abandon it, & then the next people would move in. the previous owner of the house gave it to me specifically & then mysteriously disappeared... turns out i was distantly related to a previous owner decades ago (maybe the original owners?) who had it in the family for a few generations before abandoning it.

it was closely tied with a decrepit old local library with a sealed basement and a secret "aurora room" that could only be accessed by the cult/local town government. there were so many rumors. i decided the town was a hotspot for alien activity in the 1950s. the mansion has a small graveyard somewhere in the dense forest area on its large property. the graveyard was small but at the same time alarmingly big for a private residence?? u know?? there are rumors of a husband drowning his wife in the small pond in the 1880s.

there was a room in the mansion i couldn't get into because i didn't have the key. i discovered a room that had been wallpapered over many decades ago that had a suspicious stain on the floor. the same man had been tending to the property since before its last period of abandonment & he kept coming to maintain the landscape and i dont know who was paying him.... etc etc etc fun stuff

i had to get that all written down before i forgot everything lmao thanks for reading

Headcanon A: What I think realistically

They have very different aesthetics and yet manage to blend them seamlessly when they work together (unless they're trying not to). Nobody really knows how they do it, not even them. It is, possibly, due to Wels' weird ability to seemingly know what Hypno is planning, but it's anyone's guess.

Headcanon B: What I think is fucking hilarious

Wels, even after building the underground tunnel, is still trying to get Ren to eminent-domain Hypno's house in half. It's probably not even about transportation anymore, but rather about trying to prove a point. Every time Hypno tries to retaliate, something Goes Wrong. He's decided it's not even worth it anymore.

Headcanon C: What is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends

Hypno and Wels are both incredibly protective, perhaps to a self-destructive level. It kind of comes with Wels being, y'know, a knight, and Hypno has taken his role as main admin of defense a bit too far. This and the fact that neither of them are very good at asking for help has led to more than a few panic moments on the part of the other hermits as they realise just how bad it's gotten at any given point.

My 15-year-old cat has severe separation anxiety stemming from being abandoned as a kitten (we adopted her when she was around 1 year old), and the time she got outside and was lost for almost a whole month.

This manifests in her becoming visibly (and vocally) upset when strangers visit, panicking when left alone for more than an hour or two (she ripped up the linoleum in the entryway of our old house), and immediately climbing into any bag she sees us packing.

My SO working from home full-time even post-covid has not helped.

(I mean, it's kept her calm, but not helped her deal with being left alone)

This is all to say that we've finally figured out why she hates going to visit grandma and grandpa... it's not because my parents have a cat and a dog of their own, or that she just doesn't like people. It's because she knows she gets left alone in the basement suite >.<

It seems so obvious now, but we didn't realize it until she treated me like a stranger for 20 minutes (hissing and growling, not letting me past) after I was away for an hour, only to immediately snuggle up and purr after she let me past and I sat down. (She'd been with my SO the entire time too)

So we brought her upstairs with us while we watched a movie with my folks, and yeah, she grumbled at the sight of the dog or when anyone got up to grab a drink or whatever, but she sat beside me for the whole movie and as soon as it was over hopped off the couch and walked to the basement door and meowed, like "are we going or not?"

(And then proceeded to get upset because I was filling my water bottle and taking too long)

shes at the door and her and hunter immediately start cursing at each other like??? what the fuck?? and since i bet amity would be in her scout uniform, i think camila would make some quick deductions. (they sent a child to kidnap my children? hello?)

but then luz comes at the door and is like "!!! amity!!!! :D" and instead of hunters usual insane protectiveness hes. oddly ok with this? and it takes exactly five seconds of amity and luz looking at each other for camila to pick up some vibes. (is the cult.. not homophobic? is this why her and hunter arent a thing? (shes wrong but efforts appreciated))

thinking about camila trying to glean the specifics of luz and hunter's paramilitary bunker doomsday death basement cult through context clues is So Fucking Funny. this poor woman. she's like statistically speaking they were almost certainly fundie christians but like. WERE THEY NOT FUNDIE CHRISTIANS??? luz doesn't even know who jesus IS.

i think if amity showed up at the door, after everyone had been introduced and it was established that there was no danger, camila would privately sit luz down and be like, "okay. luz. baby. you know i don't push you to share things you aren't ready to, you know i want you to feel safe and comfortable here above everything else. but luz. if there's, like. an entire schoolyard worth of kidnapped children living out in your former basement being tortured by a cult somewhere. Do You Understand Why I Need You To Tell Me About That,"
