Hey there.
Welcome to my tumblr!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These pictures above encapsulates everything I feel for the 80s-90s, especially in Korea. They are exactly my aesthetic. The aesthetic of this blog, if you so will. They are the album cover of Park Young Mi's 1st album, and a screenshot from the 1992 MBC K-drama "Sons And Daughters".
~ anemoia with a touch of obsession ~

"anemoia - n. nostalgia for a time you’ve never known"
"Imagine stepping through the frame into a sepia-tinted haze, where you could sit on the side of the road and watch the locals passing by. Who lived and died before any of us arrived here, who sleep in some of the same houses we do, who look up at the same moon, who breathe the same air, feel the same blood in their veins—and live in a completely different world."
______________________________________________________________
A sepia-tinted picture of a young woman, her head hung, staring into the air, obviously deep in her thoughts. Sitting on a railway track that goes far into the back and fades as it takes a turn. Her long brown ankle-length skirt that brushes the grounds and cover her white pointed boots, paired with a white blouse, give her the look of a quiet, introvert and thoughtful young girl.
Another picture, of another young girl wandering the bare train tracks, her figure blending into the mist of the morning. She seems lost but is not, she feels lonely but isn't.
I feel somewhat the same. I think about a lot of things, over- and underanalyze happenings and pop culture from that generation. It's like, I am lost a little in that time. A time that is far behind, hazy and misty in many people's memories, but still there for me to discover and enjoy. If you want to take a listen to "I Am Loneliness, You Are Longing" while scrolling down my page, here you go:

This is my profile picture btw :

The girl here is Lee Ji Yeon, my favourite Korean singer of all times. I love her voice, her songs, her style and stage performances. You can listen to her discography or a little "Best Of" Compilation that I made:

Oh whoever was Ha Hee Ra's hair-makeup-outfit stylist in this episode deserved A RAISE
(I couldn't catch a full shot of her outfit but they paired this combo- shes wearing a white pencil skirt btw - with pure white stocking and blue leather-y low heels. She looked absolutely MAGNIFICENT in that and if I were a man I would have fought Choi Soo Jong for her hand in marriage

I'm going on a vintage sale today, and I really want to pick up some Korean 80s inspired clothings. I was thinking of
jeans jackets of all kind (Kang Soo Yeon in "Mimi and Cheolsu's Youth Diary")
shoulder padding jackets
ankle length monocolour skirts (Park Young Mi's album cover)
poofy collar shirts
maybe a leather jacket so I can cosplay as Taesoo from Sandglass idk
D E N I M
All sorts of flared skirts
stockings lmao

My first post
Hey y'all! If anyone knows me it's beacuse I'm u/SeeTheSeaInUDP on reddit or 8090s.k_goldenoldies on instagram lmaooo. I have a naver blog too, as well as pinterest.
I'm originally an 1st gen kpop stan, but we've graduated to 90s, then 80s, and now I'm headlong into 70s. SAVE ME.
I wanted a platform where I can thoughts dump but don't have to be coherent like in reddit. Maybe I'll repost stuff from any of my other social platforms (I have so many, I should open a linktree lmfaooo)
Anyways yall I like it here for now

♧°♧ Kang Susie ♧°♧
Today I went to the city to get some work done so I thought I will doll up a little and go. For the makeup, I took this photo as a random inspiration, since I have pearl earrings, brown lipstick and brown lipliner at home. It turned out well! I wish I could do a tutorial...

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also notice how when Sungshil is at home she wears chequered patterns in white and another simple colour, long skirts with puffed sleeves, the conservative family daughter textbook. And once she's outside, she's in short black skirts, more modern and edgyier clothing lol

The CHOKEHOLD that Sung Shil's fashion and style has on me. My God. Lim Chae Won you beautiful woman. Literally made to be a model atp.

Yang Soo Kyung's album covers are my current obsession and I mean that in the actual unhealthy way. Like what the hell ma'am why so damn gorgeous. If she were Japanese or Taiwanese or even from Hong kong she would've been so much more popular cuz those places had more clout in the 80s-90s.

Shout out to the naver blog 곰이 for coming through with the archiving and collecting of her discography, not only Korean but Japanese!
(this is her best song imo)

If you want to call me by name, I usually get called "Sea" on the internet after my reddit username. I am a 04-liner, and born in Germany to Indian parents. I might sometimes post some german and indian 8090s stuff, but I'll make sure to keep it a minimum. I am an oldie through and through - but only when it comes to popular culture! I do keep up with modern pop culture too, btw.
My favourite Korean singers from the 8090s are Lee Ji Yeon, Kang Susie, Yang Soo Kyung, Jang Deok and a lot more. My first love were actually 1st gen K-pop idols - S.E.S., Fin.K.L., Baby V.O.X. and CSJH The Grace are still my all-time favourite girl groups.
I also LOVE to talk about actors and actresses! I think the ratio of actors to singers might even be 70:30. In the 8090s, actors (especially TV actors) were called "talents", with the term "actor" being reserved for movie actors. So that's how I call them on this blog too, for historical accuracy.
My favourite female talents are (among others), Chae Shi Ra, Go Hyun Jung, Ha Hee Ra, Jeon In Hwa and Shin Ae Ra. Among the male talents, I like Choi Min Soo, Han Seok Kyu and Cha In Pyo. I really do like more female talents than male ones...
I also like to post japanese 8090s idols on here sometimes. My oshis are Moritaka Chisato, Okada Yukiko, Matsuda Seiko, Nakamori Akina and Kudo Shizuka.
If you want to know about some other accounts I have on the net, check out my carrd! I loved making it. (Quick note : I don't update a lot on my naver blog, sadly...)
Enjoy your time here, and I'd love it if you sent me an ask! I'll be glad to answer any question you might have .

Hey there.
Welcome to my tumblr!

This picture. This album cover of Park Young Mi's "나는 외러움, 그대는 그리움 (I am loneliness, you are longing)", is the bane of my existence as Sea on the internet. You might know me as SeeTheSeaInUDP on reddit, or elsewhere.
This picture above encapsulates everything I feel for the 80s-90s. It is exactly my aesthetic. The aesthetic of this blog, if you so will.

The song itself is heavenly, and no, I don't think it sounds like Bette Davis Eyes. If you want to take a listen to it while scrolling down my page, here you go:
