PSYCHOLOGICAL FURNITURE

I haven’t read an entire book by Paramahansa Yogananda in a long time. However, the single biggest lifestyle influencer that I have ever had are the words written or spoken by Gurudev Paramahansa Yogananda. The phrase, from one of His writings that I remembered yesterday, was ‘psychological furniture’.

It’s a very useful phrase. For anyone who is on their way to transcend their mind, establishing the right set of words to describe the various parts of their mind is a step forward. ‘Psychological furniture’ is to describe the mind in terms of furniture that makes for the average home.

I began my meditation practice at the tail end of the nineties. For years after I began, my number one struggle was to establish meditation as a dependable habit. In this phase, while I meditated irregularly, my number one struggle within each meditation was with my conscious, waking, thinking mind.

The conscious, waking, working mind thinks. It can’t help it. The variety of ways that one can think logically is directly proportional to number of maths concepts one has learned. The variety of languages one can think in is directly proportional to the waking efforts one has taken to learn meanings of words.

Both maths and languages are skills acquired in our waking, working, thinking, memorising minds. This part of our mind is our favourite mental chair. For me the seat has been sticky for years. The glue that has had me seated in my favourite mental chair in all my waking hours in all my years gone by, has been my amygdala. I have tried thinking through all the problems I have ever faced, including those when I was still a student of maths.

For the last few meditations, Peace has been flooding my mind from the inside out. It has been pushing all the chairs out of my mental house. I have been returning to my waking, working, thinking mind after my meditations to find something missing. It’s those psychological chairs. Without those thinking chairs, I’ll have to act intuitively and not necessarily thoughtfully. It’s a huge change.

Having had the thought about psychological chairs being pushed out by the powerful flood of Peace, I wondered about the psychological bed. I believe that when we are diagnosed with the symptom of suicidal thoughts, it is because our psychological beds have turned sticky. I realise that I have never, in 48 years of living, ever had uncontrolled and cyclical suicidal thoughts. I don’t seem to have a bed in my head. I am not mentally lazy.

Thanks to Paramahansa Yogananda’s book God Talks With Arjuna, I know that my favourite mental chairs aren’t coming back. In the book, Gurudev mentions that spiritual growth is irreversible. He says that Bhagwan Krishna has said so to Arjuna.

One can’t quite return to stuff one has outgrown spiritually. The bed was never there. Now the chairs are gone. My mind is beginning to look like the official music video for Imagine by John Lennon.

Postupně opatrným způsobem testuju svoje okolí na otázky ohledně trans lidí. Nevypadá to zrovna dobře. Uvedu příklad.

A: „Máš tam výběr pohlaví a už tomu neříkaj ani žena a muž, ale pohlaví 1 a pohlaví 2.“

B: „Co třeba pohlaví 3? Jako nebinární?“

A: „To tam neni.“

B: „Škoda.“

A: „No to teda vůbec! Ještě tohle podporovat!“

Dál už jsem v konverzaci ani nepokračovala, protože vím, jak by to dopadlo. Nebinarita je výmysl "LGBT propagandy", máme se moc dobře, potřebujem pořádnou válku atd. Takže si to shrneme.

1. Nebinarita je zcela validní. To, že si jí většina lidí nedovede představit, neznamená, že neexistuje. Dřív se taky slunce točilo kolem placatý země a nakonec to tak nebylo. Ráda bych se tentokrát, ale vyhla upalování kohokoliv.

2. Nic jako "LGBT propaganda" neexistuje! Tečka! Jsme lidi, jako všichni ostatní. Nikoho neverbujem. Netransujem děti. Nehomofikujem heterosexuály.

3. Myslím, že válek už bylo víc, než dost. Lásku všem.

High School is slowly coming to an end , two more years and we will go to the University . Consequently I decide to start informing my self about abroad studies .

Reflection

Webinar started right on time . Firsly they waited for everyone to join the meeting and then proceeded to educate us about studying in Slovenia . It was a really helpful experience which enabled me to discover new adventages of being a student in Slovenia . In this Webinar I was able to find lots of answers on questions I had . At the end we were also given an opportunity to ask additional questions if needed . At first it was a bit stressful to ask questions , but shortly I became more comfortable since organisators were friendly .

Freitag 8.9.2023

Wir werden durch ein paar Regentropfen geweckt. Nach kurzer Fahrt erreichen wir unsere erste Fähre für heute. Die 13 Minuten dauernde Fahrt von Eidsdal nach Linge ist mit 4.90 Euro überschaubar und unspektakulär, hilft jedoch die Fahrt um einige Kilometer bzw Stunden zu verkürzen.

Nach einer kurzen Frühstücks-Rast in Valldal geht es weiter zu den berühmten Trollstigen. Die berühmteste aller nordischen Bergstrassen windet sich in elf Haarnadelkurven an einer fast senkrechten Felswand entlang annähernd 800 Höhenmeter auf- bzw. abwärts. Unsere Bremsen werden aufs härteste getestet.

Die zweite Fährverbindung führt uns von Åfarnes nach Sølsnes, wieder knappe 15 Minuten, 5.70 Euro und eine gute Möglichkeit die Tour zu verkürzen.

Kurz vor Molde biegen wir Richtung Kristiansund ab. Wir müssen noch zahlreiche Fjorde überwinden, und nutzen dazu einige Brücken und auch Tunnel, die tief unter dem Fjord entlangführen. Wir tauchen bis zu 150 Meter unter den Meeresspiegel.

In Kristiansund finden wir einen zentralen Parkplatz, und beginnen unseren Ortsrundgang entlang des Hafenquais. Ein stattliches Kreuzfahrtschiff liegt hier ebenso wie Segelschiffe, Frachter und Motorboote. Im Fisch-Restaurant Smia essen wir den berühmten Klippfisch und ein Walsteak, beides Spezialitäten der Region.

Dear Gus & Magnus,

To celebrate the end of summer with Gus, we took him for a back-to-school lunch. He wanted pizza, so we went to Raduno, then Loblolly, then M2 Gallery to look at art -- he put a "robot cheetah" on his birthday list. I really enjoyed spending getting to spend some quality time with him. I look forward to the days when Magnus is old enough to join us.
