you can skip this wall of text its just about the scam this illustration was involved in.
This fairly ordinary illustration of two hands holding was involved in a very weird and convoluted scam. Last month I was commission to illustrate this image for invitations meant to go out for a supposed wedding anniversary coming up in March. The whole commission seemed odd to me I mainly draw dinosaurs and aliens. Not many people know I also draw people but the buyer who called himself Petterson Reid was offering to pay 300 up front and 200 after the work was finished. A nice offer for what was a very simple illustration. I took the job and sent him a very rough sketch of the hands to show him what the final image might look like. He liked the sketch and told me to finish the image after he sent the first payment I went ahead and finished the image that night. I held onto the picture to see if he would really send the 300 dollars first. The buyer wanted to send a check by mail which is weird but I thought he might have been a boomer who didn't understand how to use PayPal. His emails and text seemed like something my grandmother would write very proper and overly polite. I was fairly suspicious of him and waited to see if a check would actually be delivered. To my surprise a check did arrive a week later from Petterson Reid except it was for 2,790 dollars. knowing this was far too much money I asked him if it was a mistake. He said the extra money was for a PayPal invoice to the printers involved in the invitations. He wanted me to use the extra money on the check to pay the printers on his behalf. Again very weird but I chalked it up to an old person who didn't know how to pay online. I cashed the check the next day, since it was from an out of state bank they were putting it on hold for 3 days to see if the funds would clear. I told the buyer about the three day waiting period and asked for the invoice I was suppose to be paying and he went absolutely ape shit. He claimed I was trying to steal his money and was threatening to pursue legal action I was completely shocked by the change in attitude. I had to mute my phone because he kept sending wave after wave of threatening texts. At this point I was 90% sure this was some sort of scam but when I called the bank they said there was nothing to do until the hold expired. I was confident it wouldn't then to my surprise the check cleared and the money was in my account. At this point I had the finished artwork and the money so I wanted to get this crazy asshole on his way so I wouldn't have to deal with him anymore. I told him to send the invoice for the printer and I would pay it with the money on the check then I would send the picture and our business would be done. This prick sends some half assed looking invoice with a payable link on PayPal. When I try to pay, it says payment will be held till Feb 7th. Apparently this date is too late for the printers so now that processing payment has been canceled by the printer in favor of a new payment process through Zelle. I was trying to figure out what was going on, if its a scam what is the take the entirety of the check was still in my account it didn't even say it was pending. I go to pay on Zelle and discover the 2,790 dollars has been rescinded by the bank. I call and learn this ass hair had sent a forged check to the bank in an effort to have me pay these fake invoices with my own money. He guessed the bank would deposit the check without fully vetting it for the standard 10 days since I'm a long time member. He knew he had until about five a clock that day before the bank would catch the discrepancy. He was posing as the printer in order to scam 4,740 dollars from me through both attempted payment methods. luckily for me I'm broke as hell right now and didn't have the money in my own account to cover either payment with out the check. everything has been taken care of now I just thought I better share this story since I've never seen a scam like this before. It took an entire month for him to essentially get nothing I really don't know what to think of any of this its such a weird scheme.

On October 11th the occupation cut off electricity and water from many of the prisons where it incarcerates Palestinians, including children, often without trial or charge, while denying them legal representation. Long before October 7th the occupation tortured Palestinians in these prisons — again, including children — on top of the inhumane conditions that are torturous in themselves. The conditions are getting worse every day, and every day the occupation is abducting dozens or hundreds of Palestinians from the West Bank and occupied interior. The number of abductions since October 7th has reached 1000. The number of abductions since January 1st has exceeded 6000. 25% are minors, disabled, sick, or elderly, and sick prisoners are being denied medical care. Additionally, after forcibly transferring 18,000 Gazan workers to the West Bank, the occupation is now rounding up these same workers and detaining them in existing prisons or new camps, giving the excuse that "it is not possible for them to return to Gaza." The Palestinian Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Commision estimates, based on occupation reports, that 4000 people are trapped in these camps. In their nightly raids, the occupation targets Palestinian journalists, activists, and representatives of the Palestinian Legislative Council. They also abduct the family members of targets to pressure those targets to surrender themselves. During these raids Palestinians are beaten, teargassed, and shot with rubber and live bullets. Then they are dragged to prisons where conditions are worse than ever. Today, October 20th, Qadura Fares, head of the Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Commission, wrote:
"Developments in the scene inside the occupation prisons compel us to expose the injustices committed against the prisoners. Many prisoners have had their limbs, legs, and hands broken, and after the beatings, their comrades could no longer recognize them. The Naqab prison has become like Abu Ghraib prison, a center of brutality and savage treatment towards the heroic prisoners. 'Israel' is making the Palestinian prisoners pay the price for its failures, acting solely with a spirit of revenge. We call upon all the countries of the world to raise your voices in support of the principles you claim to uphold, or have you returned to your history as colonial powers?"
In short, in the past two weeks the occupation has: - Made the already brutal conditions in their prisons deadly - Created new camps where they trap displaced Gazans - Doubled the total number of detained Palestinians - Kidnapped numerous Palestinian journalists, activists, and elected officials
Given the occupation's practice of "administrative detention," occupation prisons have arguably met the definition of concentration camps for decades, and now detained Palestinians are being deprived of basic survival necessities. I do not know how to describe these facilities except as death camps. A regime does not need to build death camps in order to qualify as genocidal, and the Zionist occupation has been committing genocide by various means for 75 years. That being said, these are death camps or are on the verge of becoming death camps, and I don't think we have time to waste being squeamish about applying that terminology.
Please follow RNN Prisoners to stay informed about what Palestinian detainees are facing.

I am. a little in need of bills money atm, so -
Commissions open!
I have this one already painted, available for sale -
(ID: a round canvas painted in acrylics with an abstract waterfall scene)
£15 covers the cost of that canvas, so I would be asking £30 for the piece, including UK postage, or +£5 for international.
Otherwise, I have a variety of canvas and board sizes available, from small 6inch squares, 5x10s, 8x10s, to large 12 inch square, and even one round canvas as above (12inch diameter) that has not been used yet.
A sliding price scale based on size and composition, £10-£50, examples below
(Lighthouse, Kraken)
£10
(Little Fox in The Forest [SOLD], Squirrel in a Tree [SOLD], Penguins!!)
£20
(Valleys, Red Sail, Rosy-Fingered Dawn Wine-Dark Sea)
£30
(Harbour 1 and 2)
£40
I haven't any photos to show, but I've got a 12inch square canvas and a 12x15, either of which I'd be asking £50 +postage for.
All prices include UK postage, add £5 for Europe, £10 for international and £15 for 12inch paintings
None of the above (except the round one) are for sale, they are just examples of my work. I will not copy exactly, but if any are particularly sought after I can do variations on a piece.
DM me here or @deeisart for further details.
5 slots open, and I will keep this post updated.
Any commissions I receive before 15th Jan will be completed by 31st Jan, and posted by 7th Feb.
I can also do any of these digitally rather than acrylics - take £5 off the price and no need to pay postage.
-
✨✨new year new sale ✨✨
Postage prices stand, cs I'm not taking a loss on that, but everything's half price!

Important announcement, everyone... I'll be opening up a Patreon~!
I honestly thought I'd never make a post like this, but I guess you never know what life throws at you! And lately I've fallen on some hardship ^^;; you see, back in December I lost my job due to reduction of personnel. I didn't want to say anything about it for some time because I don't really talk about my personal life in public, and it was a bit of a dour topic to bring up during Christmas/New Year's. Don't worry about me btw, I'll be fine! But it'd be nice to have some extra income to help me get back on my feet while I look for a new job. As such, I've opened a Patreon page, for people who'd like to support me 💖
Now, I don't wanna make this post a house built on walls of text, but there's some stuff I really really wanna make clear!
1. Don't worry, the comic is not in jeopardy. Of course it'd be nice to have the extra money to buy a better drawing tablet before the one I'm using breaks down, but I'll finish Feel Less even if I have to draw the panels with a ballpoint pen on a napkin. So don't feel like if you don't support me the comic will end without a conclusion, okay?
2. I won't put my content behind a paywall. I've seen a lot of other webcomic artists offer bigger input opportunities and early chapter releases for paying patrons, but I don't think that'll work for Feel Less, since the story depends on everyone playing together and I don't like giving spoilers to select people. But I do want to make becoming a Patron worth your while though! So what you'll get is behind-the-scenes content, the chance to vote for what we play next on stream, a shoutout on the blog including a portrait of your choosing, and monthly commissions!
3. I don't want to make any of you feel like you owe me. This is something I really wanna stress. I know not everyone is in a financial position to support online creators they like, and I want you to know that that's okay!! You don't owe me anything. Just you being here reading and enjoying what I make is more than I could ask for 💖 If you can support me, that's super appreciated, but if you can't, don't feel like you're obligated~
Finally, if you want to support me in ways other than financially, I also have a twitch and youtube channel, so consider checking them out~ ^^ They're largely unrelated to the comic, but if you like my sense of humour and vibes, chances are you'll enjoy those too~
Thank you for your time! Remember that Feel Less is still scheduled to return on January 7th, and together, let's make 2024 the best year we've had yet~!! 🥰
-Yui 💖

On January 7th 1451 a Papal Bull from Pope Nicolas IV enabled the foundation of Glasgow University.
Today The University is 574 years old and is the second oldest University in Scotland after St Andrews.
Now housed mainly in Glasgow's West End the origins on the institution however lie in the city's oldest street, in the Merchant City.
The university was inaugurated in 1451 at the request of William Turnbull, Bishop of Glasgow after a Papal Bull was issued by Pope Nicholas V. It was part of King James II's plan to bring Scotland up to speed with England – which already had two universities, Oxford and Cambridge.
Lectures were originally held in Glasgow Cathedral, before moving to nearby buildings on the city's High Street in 1457.
In 1563, Mary, Queen of Scots granted the university a 13-acre site on Glasgow's High street that had, until the Reformation, been home to a Dominican (Blackfriars) friary. The Old College ran along the busy High Street, with a main gateway in its centre that led through to two courtyards and walled gardens.
But as student numbers rocketed, the university was force to sell up their Old College campus and move somewhere cheaper. In 1863 it was bought for £100,000 to the City of Glasgow Union Railway Company, to be used as a goods yard. It was later demolished and housing was built there instead.
The decision was heavily criticised at the time as an act of "cultural vandalism." Nevertheless, the Uni heading west to Gilmorehill – away from the polluted air and the hustle and bustle of the city.
Work started on the new site in the west end in 1866, with the university taking up official residence in 1870.
Prolific architect George Gilbert Scott undertook the grand task of designing the new University buildings – which were the biggest in Britain beside the Houses of Parliament at the time.
The decision not to open up the commissioning process to other designers was met with controversy… Not to mention Scott's Gothic style went against the grain of the architectural landscape of the city, which ventured towards a Greek design.
According to Glasgow Uni's website, esteemed architect Alexander 'Greek' Thomson was not too impressed. He complained Scott wouldn't pay the project the attention it deserved because of how busy he was in his career.
He also added: "There is not a modern Gothic revival building of more than ten years standing that any one cares a straw about." Meoooow.
Nevertheless, Scott pressed on - building one of the most striking landmarks in the west end. The Bute and Randolph halls were completed after Scott's death in by his son Oldrid in 1891, which also included the Gothic bell tower, which stands at 278 feet high.
The Lion and Unicorn staircase was also famously moved, brick by brick, to Gilmorehill – now leading into the west wing of the main building beside the University Chapel.
Pearce Lodge, which sits at the bottom of University Avenue, is also formed by various parts of the Old College buildings. The stonework entrance to the original High Street building was also carefully erected at the gatehouse of the new campus.
The university expanded further over the years – including the A-listed reading room in the 1930s. It also snapped up a number of Victorian terraced houses, where the departments of Psychology, Computing Science and most of the Arts Faculty are based. Elsewhere. the leafy Garscube estate was bought in 1947 for The Veterinary Sciences school in Bearsden.
So, next time you see that regal clock tower and spire looming against the west end skyline, you can remember Glasgow Uni's journey across the city to its rightful place.

Smiling softly to himself as he watched his friend , and travel companion busy herself by starting to affectionately play with Lady Asta's pet dog , he figured that with their most recent stop here to Lady Herta's Space Station that he'd have some free time to catch up on some personal affairs .
Leaving , knowing full well that he could leave March 7th in the capable hands of Lady Asta , Arlan , and the Trailblazer themselves he wouldn't go out too far . Though they weren't due to leave anytime soon . Traveling by himself to an area of the space station where he could find some solace , and privacy to get some work in .
Well ... as much privacy as one could find when Lady Herta had eyes and ears built in quite literally everywhere on her ship .
Reaching into his pockets , once he'd manage to find a computer terminal to work off of , he'd insert a thumb drive into the machine . Folding his hands over his chest as he watched the computer perform the necessary security measures of scanning his drive for any malware , then just as quickly downloading all the files that he'd amass within it thus far . Copying them into a specified series of folders .
It was nothing extraordinary , just a few minor research projects that he'd been tasked with completing by staff from the station . Projects that were never a requirement of him remaining both a traveler , and a trailblazer aboard the Astral Express but rather commissions that had been posted offering money in exchange for completion . Simple things .
In his earliest days of trailblazing it had been a bit embarrassing to have to rely on others for income so this had been a means of earning his own money to avoid any future awkward situations and pay back those he owed .
A vibration coming from his phone resting in his pockets would soon confirm the successful transfer of credits into his personal bank accounts .
With that done , Dan would eject his thumb drive from the computer , and open up a few tabs on his web browser to see if there were any more projects he could take on in the meantime . Aside from being a means of earning some credits here and there ... it was also a means of keeping busy , and learning more about the Universe he was helping to explore through hands on research . It was always interesting ... and maybe a bit fun for him too .
As chat messages began to pop up on his sidebars , he was lucky to be in the position of a traveler when undertaking these projects . He could obtain materials or document phenomenon that most researchers would either have to go out themselves to get , or pay hefty sums of their allocated budgets to hire outside help .
Truth be told , he was starting to suspect that some of his benefactors might have been the lead researcher of the station Lady Asta herself speaking through proxies or false accounts . Regardless , the pay was still good so he didn't mind .
Sliding his gloved fingers across from one screen to the next , it was best to only accept research projects that if required , would most likely be in close proximity to where their next destination would be as he certainly wasn't going to ask to make alterations to the Express's schedule . That was out of the question for him .
Thumbing his way through different project descriptions , some were accepted with a simple affirming click , others dismissed with a casual wave . With each acceptance , his terms of service would automatically be sent out to the job posters to ensure that they understood how he worked . He had a feeling that he would soon be dispatched on another trail blazing expedition in the near future with the Trail Blazer , March 7th , and another new passenger .
With the Trail Blazer , and another new passenger set to join them he could only guess that Lady Himeko might try to send them all together out on the next expedition . Best not to take anything that had a pending deadline .
With that done , his next task would be to go through the station's virtual library to start picking out and choosing what research reports , guides , and references he would need to help him work through the current listing of projects he'd picked out for himself ...
With time passing him by as his mind focused solely on reading the electronic documents before him , he'd no sooner finish placing an order for some actual physical books to be delivered onboard to the express before departure that his cellphone suddenly began vibrating a few more times in quick succession in his pocket . He could only guess , March 7th .
Fishing his phone out of his pocket , and glancing at the lock screen to see pending message notification from their group chat awaiting his response . He'd soon rise , unlock his phone to type out quick responses , and would soon be on his way back towards the express to help with the both boarding process of loading on supplies as well as to properly greet their newest addition .

3% DA Hike for Govt Employees
The central government has declared a 3% rise in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for more than a crore employees and pensioners to alleviate the effects of inflation. This adjustment elevates the total DA from 50% to 53%, which will be applied in addition to the basic salary. The decision to implement this increase was reached during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi this morning.
This new rate will be effective from July 1, 2024. The announcement, made just weeks before Diwali, provides significant relief to central government employees during the festive season.
In a government statement, it was noted, “This increase adheres to the accepted formula based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
The government stated that the increase in DA and DR would benefit roughly 49.18 lakh central government employees and 64.89 lakh pensioners, but it would also cost the exchequer an extra Rs 9,448.35 crore annually.
Government workers receive DA, while pensioners receive DR as compensation for rising costs. This stipend, which is updated twice a year, is determined for industrial workers using the most recent consumer price index.
