A Goldfish pays more attention than the average Human!
Capturing Attention in Social Media
Luring one’s interest towards the article you have written with a catchy, grabbing title. Or opening with a line that draws your readers in. Setting the mood and letting the reader know what they are about to sink into. Keep your readers interested and engaged from Linked in (2023). Writers, bloggers, artists, etc. They all utilize the platform of social media to connect with and engage their audience. By snagging the attention of your audience allows the creator to foster relationships, encourage creativity, build a world to get lost in. Once you have them hooked the audience has become deeply embedded with whatever you are writing, either be truth or not. To grab the attention of a large audience you must play to a wide collection pool of what grabs every individual’s attention. You must play on a load of different minds and how each is unique, so getting that initial focus of the large vast world on social media. All this is important either for branding one’s image or creating awareness of something you or others are passionate about. It also aids in growth, be that you’re an influencer, musician, photographer, or some teen on TikTok wanting that high follower base for the dollar bills.
Challenges
These will hurt your ability to get that attention the creator is wanting, the roadblocks of the digital world. Individuals these days have a shrinking attention span, for 2023 the human attention span has decreased 3.75 seconds putting it at 8.25 seconds. That is .75 seconds less than that of the average goldfish mention by Wolmark (2023).
Keeping up with the ever-changing online trends, the trends lifespan is shrinking ever so fast. Opening a door to more and more trends and staying up to date with the trend is important but challenging, you don’t want to be too late to the party so to say. Mentioned in Sproutsocial, a survey showed that 49% of marketers mention that responding to emerging trends on social media proves challenging to maintain the presence on social media, Barnhart (2023).
Strategies
Creating a visual Image/ Identity. Making something unique of yourself, blog, brand, and page. Distinguishing yourself from others and the competition with colors, graphics, imaging, your look, your gimmick. Having an image helps in ways such as making yourself memorable, leaving that lasting impression on your audience. Having something that is relatable to your consumers resonates with the emotional level giving the audience a since of familiarity, nostalgia, and meaning.
Making a Presence, with a active level of 4.48 billion people all over social media platforms. Having a presence is crucial for yourself, staying active on all platforms getting your image out there. This can aid in your following base, a high active presence means more views, more eyes on your content, Seo Horizon (2023).
Target your audiences Emotions by evoking them, giving the audience a way to connect with your content emotionally aids with keeping the audience interested. Keeping them following you rather than down the line unfollow. Giving your audience something to relate to in an emotion that is shared over things in common. Something that targets memory, that nostalgic feeling making them reminisce. Or by impacting their actual emotions in the moment with either a heartful baby animal video or something that ignites a fire of emotion with a touchy current event topic.
Maintaining Engagement in Social Media
Engagement is what makes social media social because without it, it would only be media. That social participation that creators seek with the audience is important to how the creator gets content out to the public. Your audience develops a stronger relationship with you and your content, interacting with your content.
Strategies
Dynamic content, in the past when the internet was created websites provided static content. This meant that the web page remained the same till it was manually changed. Creators started adapting to the change in the online world as time moved by. Social media being on the rise, a dynamic concept for content emerged. This content was more specific, targeted users based on needs, behaviors, and other needs, stated from a Clear Voice written by Amy Sorter (2023).
Quality, the quality of your content depending on what it is can increase your engagement. If your content is poor quality, like lacking real information or not really targeting any audience will hurt. The other hand though with better quality will do the opposite, it will drive your engagement. When the quality is engaging, relevant, up to date, informative, and even imagery. All this can attract more engagement and a follow base.
Timeliness, the timing of your posts. This is huge when it comes to audience engagement, aiding this is a content calendar. Here you can plan outposts and quantity of posts. If you are poorly active in your content, you will not receive the engagement you want. Just look at TikTok or influencers. How frequently are they posting? This is what makes or breaks your real audience follow and engage.

------
*This movie is especially known for its special effects, which are incredible because they actually built animatronic dinosaurs and also got real scientists on the project to help them figure out how dinosaurs would move/act. After it came out, earth and environmental science departments around the world got a ton of funding to see if they could find any dinosaur DNA in fossils, as that’s a central part of the movie’s plot.
**According to a nerd astronomy class I took in like 4th grade, every culture who could see Orion saw a warrior, which is just... really cool to me. That so many people for so long saw the same thing in a set of stars.

If there’s anything I missed or that you’d like more on, please let me know! And if you’d like to/are able, please consider buying me a ko-fi? I know not everyone can, and that’s fine, but these things take a lot of time/work and I’d really appreciate it! A massive thanks to @lyanna-wilson for the ko-fis the other day; they meant a ton!

It is a paid platform and the plans start at $7 per month. Which social network has the most users? We have covered a whole range of social media sites in this post. However, despite all the new social sites opened in recent years, Facebook is still the social network with most users. During the first quarter of 2020, Facebook reported that it had 1.73 billion daily active users (DAU). It has 2.6 billion monthly active users (MAU). The second most popular social network is YouTube, with 2 billion monthly active users (MAU), who watch 250 million hours daily. What are the top 5 social media sites? We have covered a considerable number of social media sites in this post. With nearly 3 billion people using social media, there is a vast range of apps to appeal to everybody. The five most popular social networks are: - Facebook – 2.6 billion monthly active users (MAU) - YouTube – 2 billion MAU - WhatsApp – 2 billion MAU - Facebook Messenger – 1.3 billion MAU - Weixin / WeChat – 1.165 billion MAU - Instagram and TikTok follow these. What app will replace Instagram? Instagram will argue that they are still on the rise and that no other app is ready to replace them. Indeed, it is now the sixth most popular social app in the world with more than one billion users. Instagram's claim to fame is the emphasis it places on sharing images, so any potential replacement would also need this focus. This suggests a visual-focus social site, such as Imgur, Flickr, Snapseed, or Retrica. What social media is best? It isn't easy to definitively state what social media is best. It all depends on your interests and tastes. If you want to be where everybody else is, Facebook is a clear winner. If you like videos, YouTube is an obvious starting place, although if you prefer short videos, TikTok may be more to your taste (or even Byte for video snippets). For quick turn-around comments, Twitter is ideal. Instagram is the main image-sharing social app, although many people love pinning images on Pinterest. Who uses Instagram the most? A wide range of people uses Instagram. It is most popular in the United States, where it has 120 million users. 63% of Instagram users log in daily. 56.3% of Instagram's users are female, compared to 43.7% male. Instagram is popular with teenagers, with 72% of teens using Instagram. 30% of Instagram's audience is aged 18-24, and 35% aged 25-34%. An estimated 75.3% of businesses expected to be on Instagram in 2020. How does FB make money? The vast bulk of Facebook's revenue comes from advertising. The company's revenue in Q1 2020 was $17.74 billion, which was up 18% compared to Q1 2019. This increase came about, despite a decrease in advertising revenue in March 2020, due to Coronavirus. The importance of advertising to Facebook is evident when you see that of that $17.74 billion revenue, $17.44 billion comes from advertising with only $297 million in other income. What age group is on Instagram? Although Instagram has fans in all age groups, it is particularly beloved by the young. 35% of US teens consider Instagram to be their favorite social network. Looking at Instagram usage by age group: 18-24-year-olds: 75% use Instagram 25-30-year-olds: 57% use Instagram 31-49-year-olds: 47% use Instagram 50-64-year-olds: 23% use Instagram 65-year-olds +: 8% use Instagram Read the full article

MEDIA
My lifelong passion for science even crept into my work at The Plain Dealer, where I was the pop music critic for more than a decade. In the story below, I took a “scientific” look at the Jonas Brothers phenomenon. Needless to say, this piece generated significant engagement -- particularly among young female readers!
A Scientific Inquiry into the Awesomeness of the Jonas Brothers
By John Soeder Published August 22, 2008, in The Plain Dealer
OBJECTIVE We set out to test the widely held theory that the Jonas Brothers – Kevin, Joe and Nick, aka the JoBros or the JBs – are totally awesome, through a review of the literature and meta-analysis.
METHODOLOGY Various authoritative periodicals were consulted, including CosmoGirl! Extra and Tiger Beat. For the purposes of this study, only data relevant to the JoBros were examined – i.e., we skipped all those "Summer Beauty Tips" articles (although we couldn't resist a quick peek at "5 Scary Lies! How Girls Get Duped").
RESULTS The overall awesomeness of the Jonas Brothers can be traced to several key factors, including the infectious nature of their sonic output, their self-evident easiness on the human visual sensory system and the two-way, self-perpetuating exchange of affection between them and their fan base. These factors are addressed in more detail in the following sections.
MUSICALITY Even before the Jonas Brothers released their third album, "A Little Bit Longer," earlier this month, they had established themselves as "the hugest music sensation to hit the scene in decades," according to Chang. (1)
"Their music is wholesome enough for kids to sing along to, feel-good enough for adults to find irresistibly catchy and still cool enough to top your iPod's most-played list," Chang determined.
These findings have been echoed by other experts. Kevin, Joe and Nick are "fantastalistic" musicians who "rock the stage" and "write amazing lyrics," according to Jessica, Kelly, Gretchyn, Molly, Casey, et al. (2) "There's no doubt about it, the Jonas Brothers rock!" Rachelle declared. (3)
The JBs even rock harder than the heavy-metal group Slipknot, Victoria has boldly asserted, (4) although her revolutionary hypothesis (scrawled in black marker on posterboard decorated with hand-drawn stars) has not been validated independently. Additional research in this particular area is needed.
GOOD LOOKS The aesthetically pleasing appearance of the Jonas Brothers, collectively and individually, and the general hormonal mayhem that their attractive physical attributes generate in fans (particularly those of the opposite sex) have contributed to the group's popularity in ways that cannot be overstated. That Kevin, Joe and Nick are cute is the unanimous verdict of researchers; the only subject of debate is precisely how cute this fraternal triad is.
The Jonas Brothers qualify as "uniquely crush-worthy," according to Kelly. (5) In the same report, Casey found the JoBros to be "just plain hot," noting: "They all have amazing style. It's rock and roll and preppy at the same time. Oh, and they look so good in their tight skinny jeans!" (6)
Jenna and Jacyln had direct contact with Kevin, Joe and Nick and found them to be "insanely cute." (7)
Research published in the prestigious journal J-14 (Just for Teens) determined that the Jonas Brothers are the "hottest group," with a clear thermodynamic edge over Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco. Joe was deemed "hottest guy." (8)
By way of summing up these sentiments nicely, We Love Jonas Brothers posed the no-brainer question: "Who wouldn't want to be the girl of their dreams?" (9)
FAN-BASE DYNAMICS The unique relationship between the Jonas Brothers and their admirers further contributes to the hysteria-inducing unit's awesome aura. Researchers have detected a deep concern for their fans on the part of the JoBros, creating an emotional pull perceived as sincere by those in varying orbits of enchantment around this three-star system.
A rigorous analysis conducted by We Love Jonas Brothers summarized the situation thusly: "The Jonas Brothers love their fans." (10)
"We saw how super-sweet they really are to fans!" a team of experts from Twist reported after witnessing firsthand a JoBros meet-and-greet at Disney World. (11)
When they're onstage, Kevin, Joe and Nick routinely make eye contact with concertgoers, although internal tension bordering on jealousy has arisen when any given Jonas eyes a female aficionado who turns out to be holding up a sign for a different Jonas, according to a groundbreaking Tiger Beat item. (12)
"The Jonas Brothers really are devoted to their fans," Tiger Beat declared. (13) This finding was supported with compelling evidence: a photo of Nick backstage as he accepted a heart-shaped balloon from a young lady in Mexico. Despite the lame nature of the gift, Nick gamely wore an expression of incalculable gratitude.
ADDITIONAL DETERMINANTS Besides the factors outlined above, several other considerations are worth taking into account in any comprehensive assessment of the JoBros' appeal.
Their fame certainly was subject to no deleterious effects as a result of their recent appearance in "Camp Rock." In the aftermath of the Disney Channel movie, "the Jonas Brothers' success can only multiply," Teen stated, noting: "The flick has everything it needs to be a hit: great music, cool dance moves, a heart-warming story and, most importantly, Kevin, Joe and Nick." (14)
The movie was declared "a definite can't-miss" in the pages of J-14, which predicted "Camp Rock" would become "the biggest phenomenon since 'High School Musical.' " (15) An item in Twist went so far as to hint that the "HSM3"cast might be envious of their "Camp Rock" counterparts, because the Jonas Brothers and "Camp Rock" co-star Demi Lovato (also the opening act on the JoBros' Burning Up Tour) are exceedingly tight. (16)
A strong work ethic has been another ingredient in the JBs' success. "They've been on the road since October, when they opened for Miley Cyrus on the 'Best of Both Worlds' tour, then immediately jumped onto their own headlining gig," according to the experts at Teen. (17) "In the past year, the JBs have slept at home for just a week total!" CosmoGirl! Extra revealed. (18)
The Jonas Brothers even have managed to make a virtue of their pratfalls. An eye-opening study in We Love Jonas Brothers confirmed: "They're human, too." (19) In particular, Joe's alarmingly frequent onstage tumbles have become a source of endearment for untold numbers of admirers. "Joe makes clumsy look good and falling in public the new cool thing to do," Kelly stated. (20)
CONCLUSION The Jonas Brothers are awesome. Totally.

So I did the “get to know me” meme on Twitter but because of how Twitter functions now it’s a hard to follow mess of a thread. Decided to post it all here -- and hey, if any of ya’ll are curious, feel free to read.
1) When I was 10 my abusive stepdad threw a spray at me. I ducked -- it scraped my head. Sent to school bleeding b/c he was too stoned to realize it'd get noticed and I'd get pulled out of that environment immediately. This moment changed my life, left a scar on head.
If I hadn't ducked, would've hit my stomach. No cut. Whole childhood would've been different. My first Butterfly Effect Moment.
2) I started writing fiction about Pokémon. First-person, from the Mons perspective. Rotating point of view each scene.
3) I moved on to crazy crossover fanfic where I constructed an entire war, personal and political motivations, so many ideas I still like?
4) Part of this involved detailed drawings of Mario-themed Keyblades I wish I still had.
5) Paper Mario 1&2 are some of my most influential inspirations. expanded such a simple world so much so fluidly. (Harder than it looks)
6) When I was a kid my sister would wake me st like 6am to watch dubbed Sailor Moon. Bothered me they all sounded like same person.
7) I can recognize voices very well and even specific sounds and songs. Couple years back my roommate ran a test - playlist of 100 NES tracks, he'd play the first NOTE, singular, and I could recognize exactly where it was from if I'd played the game.
8) My first computer was a PC I bought w/$ saved up during an entire summer of custodial work in HS. Had no Internet.
So I'd use the public library's very slow connection to download things to floppy disk and copy them over.
Eventually, I was able to graduate to a USB. Obtaining music was hellish so I treasured each song I could download -- most from OC Remix.
9) We had this tiny rabbit ears TV that could get WB and Fox sometimes if it was set up in a specific corner of my sister's room
And so I would desperately use it to try and stay up to date on Pokémon and Digimon, it was so bad
10) Teen Titans was arguably the most influential piece of media for my teenage mind. It formed the base of so much I care about re:stories
Fleshed out, varied protags who grew together and each had their times to step up and step down. Action w/character dev context.
Fantastic themes important for growing humans; awesome moments "between the panels" instead of all comic book melodrama and action.
Then everything changed when TT GO attacked and pissed on everything smart and thoughtful because MONEYYYYY
11) Cowboy Bebop was the first "good" anime I ever saw and blew my mind open about what animated stories could do -- i.e. Not just kid stuff
I don't like "anime" in general because most of its common tropes but the shit out of me even worse than most western toon tropes
And yet like 50-75% of my most favorite shows ARE anime because thoughtful animated storytelling has so much potential.
11) I predicted months before Last of Us came out that you'd play as Ellie but when it happened I had to stop, cry happy tears.
I predicted the second I saw the Left Behind trailer what was going on w/those two and again, still had to stop and cry happy tears.
(I seem to have pretty good gaydar now but I also don't like, ship everyone together all the time)
It just hits me so hard when actual canon queerness happens in mass media and is done well, but we're still so bad at following through.
12) Favorite m/m ship: Troy and Abed in the Morning. Favorite w/w ship: Max and Chloe BFF Pirates 2008.
ATLA ships: Tokka the most, also Katang, also Smellershot. ATLA makes me more open to shipping than any other series?
Like, Zutara makes me feel kinda gross and some of the crack ships like Sokka/Azula scare me but otherwise I'm pretty chill w/ATLA ships?
13) When I was a kid, and we'd role play, I always wanted to play the girl characters. I was surrounded by boys so they always were weirded.
It was weird to me, too, honestly.
Now it makes perfect goddamn sense.
14) Apparently I was kidnapped as a baby by some mobster or something but it's hard to tell with my mom what's real or not.
15) Smash Bros. Melee was the first game I ever got genuinely hype over before launch. I still remember being startled to discover it --
-- existed via E3 trailer on GameTrailers back on my goddamn dialup connection in 2001. I had to wait all fuckin' day for that thing to load
And when it did, it was GLORIOUS (and had FZero music, which at the time I did not recognize) and I was FLOORED.
The screenshots made the game look too good to be real, and I was instantly sold on the GameCube, the first time I NEEDED new hardware Day 1
I got SSBM as an Xmas gift before my grandpa's GCN present arrived, so for a week or two all I could do was stare at the box/manual/disc
That game kind of changed my life -- SSB64 was the first time I'd gotten so invested in a multiplayer game, and SSBM crushed it.
A fire was born in me -- competition, something I'd never been much interested in w/games before, not against actual humans.
Those months between E3 2001 and finally getting to play SSBM felt like forever. And thus did I post online fiction for the first time.
That's actually how I met @SDiDuro , my first 'Internet friend' and what I'd consider to be my first proper 'reader.'
16) After college, I ended up working at a call center because it was the only job I could find and I needed to support my disabled wife.
DURING college, I gave up on writing fiction and had focused on gaming editorial through a site where I'd engaged with an online community
But that empty space between phone calls eventually got filled in by writing fiction on a notepad, with a pen, inspired by Street Fighter 4.
Eventually, this evolved and radically changed into what is now (still in dev) DownRight Fierce.
Back then, I had no idea I'd be motivated to DO this, though -- write original fiction -- but the fire had been re-lit.
I wanted to write.
I was sickened by my "naive" adolescence crossover fics and wiped them from my http://FF.net profile and started anew.
Having just come off of ATLA 1st time, I knew I wanted to explore that world/characters more, so I wrote a story about Toph & puberty.
That serving as "practice," I then went on to write SRU, and...well, that...changed EVERYTHING.
17) My biological dad (who I have never met) has OCD, to the point where he apparently washed his skin raw trying to avoid germs?
So as soon as I showed enthusiasm in gaming, my parents FREAKED and worried I was exhibiting OCD and they brought the hammer down.
They made me feel BAD for writing about video games when I wasn't playing them, but they never READ anything I fucking wrote.
Even now, my mom tries to comment on what a good writer I supposedly am, yet when I ask for her thoughts, I ask what she's read?
Silence.
I wasn't writing fiction based on games because I was THAT addicted to games.
I did it because a storyteller was awakening within me --
-- and I told stories through the worlds and characters I was familiar with.
(And my first genuinely "serious" fic was Teen Titans, anyway)
But even now, it really hurts that my parents will sometimes try to guilt me over not calling or whatever the fuck, when they never READ
never supported, and actively DISCOURAGED my writing, my storytelling, refused to understanding why I loved games.
18) I never watched Avatar until after college (years after it had finished), and I watched it because of the live action movie.
I watched halfway through the season 1 of the cartoon to get "read up" on it. Then the movie. Which was horrible. Then the rest of season 1.
At that point, the movie utterly baffled me. My wife and I proceeded to marathon the rest of the series. And it became my fav story ever.
But I ironically owe it to that terrible live action movie. ^_^;;
19) My taste in music is really weird. I couldn't tell you what my favorite genres are, and even fav musicians is hard.
Like, every year my top three fav musicians "change" because I just add more to the pile and spend the year focused on their music.
But music inspires my storytelling more than any other medium, I'd say -- in terms of me actually planning and growing ideas.
I didn't just give Nishiko and Seiko last names of my two fav game composers as tongue-in-cheek. In fact, that's not why I did it at all.
I gave them those names because I wanted some element of their very design to express how Japanese composers inspired me in my teen years.

Now this is an unexpected pairing! But OK! (We weren’t alone: “Is This the Most Unexpected Thing to Happen at the Met Gala?” asked a Coveteur piece.) This was in May of 2017. Why did their pairing seem so unlikely? Because he was a recently hunky (credit to the 2014 banger “Jealous”) former teen idol and she a breathtakingly beautiful Bollywood superstar–slash–UNICEF Goodwill ambassador whom Americans knew primarily from … ABC’s Quantico. Plus, she was 10 years older than Jonas, a surprising twist on the typical celebrity age gap. Plus, don’t forget that immediate denial: She would tell Jimmy Kimmel that they attended the Gala as “friends” because “we were both wearing Ralph Lauren!”
What could one of the most famous and glamorous women in the world—someone who knows Duchess Meghan’s private cellphone number—possibly want with a twentysomething most famous for his family’s former commitment to purity rings and Disney? When the answer was, simply, “friendship,” we were allowed to rest easy. Things made sense again. Nick would eventually, we assumed, fall for a moderately successful pop musician or former child star whose name we hadn’t thought about in years, and Priyanka would no doubt marry a world leader and become something approaching or equal to actual royalty.
But then they got engaged, and now they’re married! In a now-deleted post that drew the ire of older brother Joe Jonas, Priyanka’s soon-to-be sister-in-law Sophie Turner, and many readers, the Cut called their relationship a scam. But come on: As the two grace this month’s cover of People magazine, aglow in holy pre-matrimony, it’s clear that this relationship wasn’t merely the real deal—it was also the impetus for the wedding of the year.
It’s clear that this relationship wasn’t merely the real deal—it was also the impetus for the wedding of the year.
“But what about Meghan and Prince Harry?!” you might scream, remembering that lovely wedding for the ages just a few months ago. Well: Did Meghan and Harry have a sangeet “in which both families performed elaborate musical numbers with choreography and costumes”? I think not. Theirs was the idealized version of a proper English wedding, while Priyanka and Nick took the tradition of the spectacular, multiday Indian wedding and ran with it. What we’re trying to say here (using People’s reporting to support our argument, as we were not included on the guest list) is that Meghan and Harry’s wedding was limited by tradition, while Priyanka and Nick’s was an over-the-top extravaganza because of it.
“It is super important to Priyanka to have an Indian ceremony that honors her heritage and culture, just as it’s important to also have a Western ceremony that honors Nick’s Christian upbringing,” a source (or more likely, publicist) told People. “They are doing both.”
#Nickyanka fully embraced the most elaborate forms of their respective religions—a mehendi ceremony and that sangeet, plus a Hindu wedding ceremony and a bridal ritual called a Bidaai. And, perfect for People’s cover, Chopra wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown (shades of their first date!) covered in “2.4 million mother-of-pearl sequins” as she walked down the aisle. Behind her: a 75-foot long veil manned by five handlers responsible for keeping it from catching in the perfectly verdant lawn. Above her: a drone, capturing the grandeur of it all in glorious HD. Compare this to Meghan and Harry’s wedding, which despite its A-list guests and historic, inspiring inclusivity was a dreadfully boring affair apart from a few choice musical moments and a very good sermon.
But Chopra and Jonas’ commitment to the art of being extra extended beyond the wedding itself. Meghan and Harry’s most exciting pre-wedding content came in the form of a formal interview with the BBC in which they revealed the fact that they became engaged over roast chicken. Meanwhile, Chopra and Jonas hyped up their multipart spectacular with a foray into spon con. While that kind of partnership would be unheard of for a royal who reports to Elizabeth II, it makes perfect sense for a plain old celebrity looking to capitalize on an immense social following. Rich people often say one key to wealth is straight-up frugality, and Instagrams like this one, of Jonas showing off branded scooters used (or at least photographed) at his bachelor party, or this one, of Priyanka thanking Amazon for helping her build her registry, prove that no one is above saving a little green when planning a wedding.
And in addition to good ol’ People, befitting Nick’s status as locally popular, the wedding attracted the highest of highbrow coverage, befitting a megarich international superstar and fashion icon. Vogue detailed the couple’s origin storycomplete with a video of them playing a sappy, sanitized version of The Newlywed Game—and gave them a “digital” cover, whatever that means these days (while Priyanka herself will sit solo for Vogue’s actual January cover—“on breaking barriers and landing the man of her dreams,” it reads). People still got the full wedding-album exclusive, while video of the ceremony posted to Chopra’s personal Instagram is branded with a #PeopleWeddings hashtag and @People is tagged on her wedding photo.
From top to bottom, Vogue to People, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam to “Exotic” feat. Pitbull, the cover of Rolling Stone to Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women list, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are the most delightful celebrity relationship of the year. They’re both Whos and Thems—little-known to many Americans or people who weren’t recently teen-pop fans but also astonishingly famous within their respective celebrity ecosystems (he: pop music; she: the world’s biggest film industry). The result was a perfect storm of earnest shamelessness and enthusiastic joy of the sort that this year’s other big wedding was forced to either tone down or mute entirely. With such a spectacle—and the subsequent outpouring of support for these two after their love was questioned—Nickyanka have pushed each other into broader Themdom and given us the royal wedding we needed in 2018, just under the wire.

""On Car Insurance, do additional drivers have to drive the car?""
Im trying to get quotes for car insurance. Im a new driver and buying my own car myself. By myself the quotes are quite high, around 5000. Ive added my mum as additional driver (im the main driver), that got it down to 3500. But I was wondering, what would happen IF my mum didnt actually end up using the car? She probably would...but I was wondering if it would effect my insurance if she just didnt end up using it?""
""CAR INSURANCE FOR A 17-YEAR-OLD, 5000 quotes. Genuinely can't find any quotes less than 5000?""
1.3 KA 2002, immobiliser, no tracker fitted yet (intend on). Not bought the car. 17-year-old as the main driver and owner, passed a month ago (roughly). I know it's obvious, but KAs are the easiest cars to buy, the car is valued at 995 (the one in mind). I can literally find 5000 quotes. The car is worth less than one fifth of this. And yes, I know that car insurance will be expensive, but reading over forums etc, some people have managed to get it down to 2000. I've tried Diamond, elephant, comparethemarket, gocompare, literally everywhere. Admiral won't give me a quote and places like Tesco will only quote 18-year-olds. I will literally LOVE anyone who knows of any quotes around 2000-3000. Any less, I believe is impossible. And I realise that insurance companies take the Michael, but please don't state the obvious with a comment like Insurance will be expensive - 5000 is about right , surely it can't be, I've found so many forums of people saying they have quotes from 2000, but not telling me where from. ):""

""I gave a urine sample for life insurance, want two more samples on different days. Why??
I gave a urine and blood sample about a month ago for life insurance. I received a call yesterday from the company that takes performs the physical and takes the samples...they said my insurance company wants to more urine samples on two different days. Why is that?? It has me really worried and I can't call the insurance office until tomorrow to find out why. I would assume that they had messed up the sample if they just wanted one more but they want two on two different days. :/ I informed them that I take birth control and sometimes take Ibuprofen. I don't use any other drugs or smoke and very rarely drink alcohol. I also have not been having sex (only with 2 people) and have been tested for STD's and visit the gynocologist every year and am always fine. I didn't receive anything from my insurance company about my blood tests which means those didn't show anything (would only send to me if something wrong). Any ideas about what's up with the urine sample requests???

Here’s why The CW’s ‘Riverdale’ isn’t just ‘Dark Archie’

When Luke Perry was growing up in small town Ohio, sharing a tiny bedroom in a trailer with his brother, he took sanctuary with a stack of comic books piled high in his closet. Hed pull issues from his stash and read them diligently by flashlight, and amid the many superheroes and sci-fi epics there was another favorite a staple of the medium since debuting in 1941: the quaint, relatable, all-American adventures of teenager Archie Andrews and his high school pals, rivals and crushes, set in the idyllic town of Riverdale, U.S.A.
Today, Perry no stranger to series centered around iconic locales, thanks to his stint on Beverly Hills 90210 is among the cast of Riverdale, The CWs ambitious and decidedly edgier take on the 75-year-old comic book series.
Veering away from the wholesome vibe that many associate with classic Archie, the drama adds a Twin Peaks-inspired aura of mystery, danger and controversy to the small town proceedings.
For instance, in the pilot episode, our redheaded, freckle-faced hero, played by New Zealander K.J. Apa, indulges in a steamy backseat tryst with his teacher Miss Grundy reimagined from the comics silver-haired spinster into the much younger, more curvaceous form of actress Sarah Habel. Not only that the site of their forbidden dalliance soon puts them in uncomfortable proximity to the season’s unfolding murder mystery.
I was the biggest skeptic, Perry admits to Mashable of the more adult take on the Archie gang. I said, Im the guy youve got to convince. I grew up reading Archie I am that guy. So show me what is different about this. And they did.

“They” are the production team led by writer-producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, an accomplished playwright and veteran scripter of popular television series including Glee and Big Love, whos also enjoyed an acclaimed second career in the comic book industry.
A stint at Marvel Comics writing top-tier characters including the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man ultimately led Aguirre-Sacasa to an opportunity to write the 2013 comic book miniseries Afterlife with Archie. The endeavor represented a bold step for publisher Archie Comics in which the company combined their longtime characters with a zombie apocalypse narrative drawn by emerging fan-favorite artist Franco Francavilla.
It is a five-year-old Robertos dream come true, Aguirre-Sacasa tells Mashable. Ive always loved the characters. I read them from when I was a kid.
Like Perry, the writer was among a second generation of Archie devotees that discovered the now-iconic characters Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Reggie, as well as spin-off headliners like Josie and the Pussycats and Sabrina the Teenage Witch over a quarter century after they first debuted.

In 1941 a few years after rival publisher DC Comics had launched the superhero genre with Superman MLJ Comics had been riding that pop culture wave with their own powered-up characters, including the patriotic, pre-Captain America hero The Shield.
But publisher John L. Goldwater was looking for a new comic book genre that would feel fresh yet familiar. Hoping to capitalize on the popularity of the wholesome, funny, relatable teen antics of MGMs Andy Hardy screen franchise, starring a young Mickey Rooney, he gave over a six-page portion of the twenty-second issue of an established title, Pep Comics, to the earliest incarnation of the Archie gang.
Though not even mentioned on the cover of its debut issue, the Archie feature, originally written by Vic Bloome and drawn by Bob Montana, was quickly established as the hottest and much imitated new genre in comics, so popular that within a few years MLJ formally changed the books name to Archie Comics, and Archie himself appeared on every cover from 1944 onward.
Over the decades, circulation soared to nearly 300,000 copies, and Archie-mania was born: Several of the ever-expanding Archie-verse characters headlined their own solo series; Dan DeCarlo, who moonlighted drawing sultry pin-up girls for pulp magazines, became the definitive Archie artist and developed the signature look of the comic; The Archies, a prefabricated pop group of anonymous studio musicians (packaged as Archies garage band) scored an enduringly popular hit song in 1969 with Sugar, Sugar; past issues were collected in conveniently miniature digests; progressive new minority characters were introduced into white-bread Riverdale; and the characters became widely commercialized, appearing on TV shirts, lunchboxes, Saturday morning cartoons and a hit primetime sitcom starring Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Although the Archie lines mainstream appeal would gradually wane to cult status among comics fans in the 1990s and 2000s, the characters would endure as iconic figures to multiple generations of readers.
Through it all, though the hairstyles, hemlines, hotrods and hi-jinx evolved, the Archie stories rarely wavered from their core conceit: the misadventures of an average American high-schooler pursued by a pair of beautiful, competitive girls, constantly vexed by his rivals and consoled with good humor by his offbeat, free-thinking best friend.
By 2010, more opportunities were arising to tap the ongoing goodwill toward the Riverdale mythos.
I love the characters. Id grown up reading the characters. I always kind of went back to the characters, says Aguirre-Sacasa. I always wanted to write them even when I started writing for Marvel Comics. I was exclusive to them for years. And in fact, I broke my exclusivity with Marvel because I had a chance to write an Archie comic, Archie Meets Glee, which was the first thing that I did for Archie, and that was a dream come true.

Even as he was bringing the characters slightly outside of their traditional comfort zones, it was clear that Aguirre-Sacasa was simpatico with the essence of the Archie gang, and he quickly assumed greater custodianship of the characters, eventually being named Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics, overseeing a critically and commercially successful re-launch of the core titles by top-tier comics creators. At the same time, he began shopping new and left-of-center takes on the properties to Hollywood.
I really want to help bring these characters to life in a way thats never really happened successfully, he says, explaining how he promised publisher Jon Goldwater, the son of the original Archie Comics head, that theyd have to create a slow build of heat on the publishing side before turning Hollywoods head.
Though theres always sort of heat on Archie, he adds. When they make a move and they get tons of press. I know that my friends at DC and Marvel were always like, Why do you get so much ink? People love the characters.
Afterlife With Archie, a surprise sensation in the comics world, demonstrated that after three-quarters of a century that the tried-and-true Archie format had more malleability than expected.
Image: archie comics
We were really nervous about putting the Archie characters in quite a hardcore horror story with a lot of gore, and violence, and some pretty wild ideas, says Aguirre-Sacasa. But we found out two things: one is that the characters could withstand that kind of caldron of stuff; and two, the fans loved it the fans loved seeing the characters they loved in different situations, and they were emotionally invested in what happened to the characters. They were sad when characters were eaten by zombies.
It of course has a little bit informed Riverdale, says the writer, who teamed with executive producer Greg Berlanti no stranger to successful comic-to-TV adaptations thanks to his success with DC Comics and The CWs interconnected superhero series, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DCs Legends of Tomorrow to infuse a similarly shadowy sensibility into the television take.
When we start pushing at the boundaries, I think people get nervous, but I think when you see it, you see that its done with integrity, and care, and comes from a deep abiding love of these characters,” Aguirre-Sacasa says. “No one wants to protect them more than I do. But you do have to evolve them, and you do have to push boundaries, and you do have to be more than just a story with a joke at the end.
My pitch to Roberto was, Number one, we have to find a form where in this can work as a TV show, Berlanti tells Mashable. Number two, can whats beloved about Archie and intrinsic about Archie and the Americana-esque, period element of it translate to todays audience? Thats the challenge we have to at least be aware of [Id tell Roberto] it has to be as much of his personality as possible, because youre a show creator, and youre creating this thing, and theres so many elements of things you love: you love horror, you love comedy, you love irreverent stuff. It has to be as evocative of you and your personality, as Afterlife with Archie really was too.
As we moved along, he wrote a script that was terrific and had that magic thing, Berlanti adds. Im not sure I knew until I read his draft of the pilot script that we developed that it was a real TV show.
One misconception that is out there is that this is Dark Archie, this is dark, gritty Archie, and Rated R Archie, chuckles Aguirre-Sacasa. And in fact the show is a mix of light and dark. The show honors what is Archie, and then subverts it. For me, the sweet spot is the tension between Twin Peaks, and the tension between the 1950s sock hop Archie right in between that is where stories work on both levels. They work as good Archie stories, but they work as good noir, or mystery, or moody stories as well.

Roberto loves these characters, and I dont think anyones salacious to be salacious, Berlanti says of the elements that may sound eyebrow-raising to anyone who hasnt read Archie Comics in a while. That is not our goal. That being said, the show wants to deal in the tropes of these kinds of shows, and comment on those kind of things, and have that be a part of it. Im sure that wont be the first time we have a subject matter that makes people [take pause] – but I can say, in terms of our heart being in the right place, we dont start from that place of like, ‘this is going to get us some people to watch.’ We love these characters, and you dont want to assassinate them either.
Though the characters may be in dark, adult, morally-compromised, scary situations, the characters are still true to their essences, says Aguirre-Sacasa. Those characters are basically the characters they are in Archies Double Digest, just put in a crazy, messed-up situation. Theres trial and error, but I think thats where the show lives in the tension and the juxtaposition of those things.
I would say weve been met with guarded optimism, Perry who ultimately signed on to play Archies father, Fred Andrews says of the Archie fanbase. They dont want us to mess Archie up, but they do want to see it in a new way. They do want these characters to have a new life thats the sense Ive got. So were going to try to give them that without messing up the other.
Riverdale airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
