Universal HD44780 LCD interface
YALI (Yet Another LCD Interface) is an open-source project to provide a universal interface to drive the popular Hitachi HD44780 LCD controller. This module supports 3.3V and 5V MCUs and hardware development platforms, including Arduino, STM32, PIC, and ESP8266.

The hardware module of this project consists of a 74HCT08 CMOS AND gate and a 74HC595 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register. This module uses the MP1540 step-up converter to power the LCD unit connected to the system. The module has the jumper to select 3.3V or 5V DC power input.

The YALI library is developed using C and is designed to be easily integrated with any C/C++ embedded toolchain. At the initial design stages, this library was successfully tested with all Arduino development boards, NodeMCU, STM32 Blue Pill, etc. The target system must have three digital output lines with 5V or 3.3V logic levels to interface with the YALI module. As mentioned earlier, this module works successfully with 5V or 3.3V power sources and logic levels.
The YALI library provides a unified API to control the HD44780 LCD controller. It has functions to handle cursor control, custom character loading, LCD backlight control, etc.

What is the LED display driver and system architecture?
LED display screen, as a high-tech product, has attracted great attention from people. The intelligent full-color display screen, which uses computer control and integrates light and electricity, has been applied in a wide range of fields. Part I: LED display drive
General chips are generally used for low-end products of LED display, such as indoor single and dual color screens. The most commonly used general-purpose chip is 74HC595, which has 8-bit latch, serial shift register and three-state output functions. Each circuit can output 35mA non-constant current at most.
Because LED is a current characteristic device, that is, under the premise of saturated conduction, its brightness changes with the change of current size, not with the change of voltage at both ends. The biggest feature of the dedicated chip is to provide constant current source output, ensure the stable driving of LED, and eliminate LED flicker. It has the characteristics of large output current and constant current, and is suitable for occasions requiring large current and high image quality, such as outdoor full-color screen and indoor full-color screen.
SMT5026. SMT5026, a series of LED driver chips for LED display, has built-in CMOS shift register and latch function, which can convert serial input data into parallel output data format.

Part II: System composition and architecture of LED display
1. Display unit
This is the main part of the LED display screen, which is composed of luminous materials and driving circuits. The indoor screen is the unit display panel of various specifications, and the outdoor screen is the unit box.
2. Main controller
Its function is to buffer the input RGB digital video signal, transform the gray level, reorganize it, and generate various control signals.
3. Switching power supply
The purpose is to convert 220V AC into various DC power to supply various circuits.
4. Transmission cable
The display data and various control signals generated by the master controller are transmitted to the screen body by twisted pair cable.

5. Scan controller
The function of the circuit board is to buffer data and generate various scanning signals and duty ratio gray control signals.
6. Dedicated display card and multimedia card (video card)
In addition to the basic functions of the computer display card, the LED full-color display card also outputs digital RGB signals and line, field, blanking and other signals to the master controller. In addition to the above functions, the multimedia card can also convert the input analog video signal into digital RGB signal (i.e. video capture).
7. Other signal sources and their external devices

6-channel speaker selector
At the beginning of 2018, we developed the first version of the 6-channel speaker selector using PIC16F88 MCU and ULN2803 Darlington transistor array. In this new design, we redesign it with low-cost MCU and Darlington transistor arrays. This design also provides the same functionality as the 6-channel speaker selector switch we designed earlier.
This new speaker selector uses STC15W201 MCU. This MCU is a low-cost 8051 MCU designed by STC micro. At the time of this writing, the STC15W201 can obtain for less than US$ 0.8. To drive the seven segments and to control the relays, this design uses the popular 74HC595 8-bit shift register ICs.

To select each speaker channel, we use pair of 12V DPDT relays. These relays interface to 74HC595 through a ULN2001D 3-channel Darlington transistor array IC. This 3-channel Darlington driver IC is functionally equivalent to the famous 8-channel ULN2003 IC. This ULN2001D version is an 8-pin IC and is available in both DIP-8 and SOP-8 packages. 
This new board is designed to work with a 12V DC power supply and in our prototype build, we use a 12V/5A SMPS unit to power the whole system.
To get the optimal results with this circuit, use an Omron G2R-2-12DC or an equivalent type of relay with a coil current lower than 100mA. 
The firmware of the STC15W201S is developed using SDCC. To flash the MCU, we use stcgal. Thanks to the built-in bootloader, we can program this MCU using a generally available 5V USB to UART module/dongle.

The functionality of the firmware is almost identical to the old PIC16F88 firmware. After powering up the system, the active speaker channel is displayed on the seven-segment display. To switch to a different speaker channel, press the button repeatedly with short intervals. 
To mute or disconnect the current speaker channel, press and hold the same button for more than 3 seconds. 
As described above, all functions of this circuit can be the control using a single push switch.

He is realistically just using a down-converter, like a digital converter box, but uses a splitter not to reefed the TV rather feed the LED’s. I think he can actually sell this without no legal implications, and I would buy 2 of them. Where other examples use Boblight on a PC for processing this manages to do so as a standalone embedded system. The board is fed by the HDMI to S-Video converter which itself is getting HDMI in parallel with the television thanks to a splitter. It looks like the TV is getting an HDMI signal. It still produces a respectable picture, but wouldn’t it have been cleaner if he could have gone with the HDMI standard? This board acts as an S-Video pass through, analyzing the signal using an STM32 ARM chip before the video signal continues on to the television. Instead he uses an HDMI to S-Video converter. Because of HDCP and licensing issued revolving around HDMI didn’t use HDMI pass through. There are only few times that the DRM built into the HDMI standard has pissed us off. The project is called SCIMO and is the handiwork of a hacker named . The PCB seen on the left right is all you need for the video processing. They need a computer to do the image processing. To the best of our knowledge all of the Ambilight clones we’ve covered over the years have one thing in common.
