A yawn escaped her lips as she climbed out of bed, grabbing Saeyoung’s t-shirt to cover her naked body. It dropped to her knees as she walked to the restroom, ruffling her hair and trying to wake her brain to catch up to her body. But then she had a funny feeling, her nose wrinkling as she tuned in to the rest of the apartment. Something was missing, though she couldn’t put a finger on it just yet. She brushed a piece of her hair behind her ear as she leaned her head out of the bathroom.

Then it made sense.

There was always some sort of noise throughout the apartment, and it almost always had to do with Saeyoung. The silence was alarming, her brows furrowing as she quickly used the restroom, washed her hands, and walked out into the hallway.

“Saeyoung? Honey?” Again silence, her bare feet echoing from stepping on the cold tile as she shivered to herself. Without Saeyoung by her side she had become all too aware of the chill that ran through the house, making a mental note to turn on the heater to prepare for the frost of Winter. She wandered past the hall to get towards the familiar kitchen when she felt herself stumble over something soft, her arms sprawling forward to catch herself as she turned her head back to see what it was. Her eyes widened as soon as she saw the familiar grey hoodie and flaming red hair peek out from the ruffled cloth.

“Saeyoung! Darling, are you okay?” She was immediately at his side, her touch gentle as she reached for his arms and rubbed them to try and soothe him. He was shaking violently, gripping his sides as he furrowed his brows and shook his head.

“No…”

“Is it a stomach bug? Are you feeling feverish?” She wasn’t trying to be pushy, just more try to understand what was going on to help him. She felt him wince as she passed over a certain part of his forearm, his head suddenly snapping up as he glared at her. His face left her stunned as she recoiled in surprise, furrowing her brows in confusion. His golden eyes that were always so warm towards her were suddenly hard like rock, blocking her out as he sat up on his knees.

“No! Jesus Christ, can I just exist without you breathing down my neck every five minutes?” He sounded so cold; she couldn’t help the tears that had started to well as she brought her hands to her lap and clasped them together tightly.

“I see.” Her sad tone made him snap out of his brief irritation as he melted, his voice starting off quiet as he too started to feel the oncoming of tears.

"No! No, Y/N, that's not what I meant. I'm just..." Before she could encourage him to continue he burst into another fit of tears, her eyes wide as he gripped his hair on the sides of his head and pulled tight.

"My brain. Won't. Shut. Up." With each word he beat his fists against his head while Y/N sprang to his side, grabbing his arms with her hands and pulling with all her strength to prevent him from doing it again. He suppressed a scream that she could only describe as the source of agony itself, fat tears rolling down his pale face as he looked at her with desparation.

"You need to tell me what's going on, Saeyoung. I can't help you if you don't talk to me." Her pleas were desperate as her arms grew sore from forcing his down to his sides. He trembled while he struggled to keep his breathing steady, sweat beading across his forehead as he squeezed his eyes shut.

"Look at me," She it was barely above a whisper as she gently guided his arms and hands to her chest and stomach, spreading his palms flat against the areas. "Feel my heartbeat. Breathe. Deeply."

It took a couple of tries but he opened his eyes, golden honey rigid and anxious as his breathing began to regulate. While his breathing had stabilized the tears had not, his voice weak as he threw himself into her arms. She was ready for it, squeezing him tight as he collapsed into her lap and chest.

"I've found my brother and yet; it's not the same. I know he wishes me dead some days. I can't help but agree with him."

"Saeyoung."

"Is he wrong, Y/N? Can you deny him his truth? I abandoned him."

"I'm going to stop you now, before you continue on your tangents that you do." Her voice was firm and her gaze turned steely, Saeyoung stuttering in his sorrow filled monologue as he waited for her to continue.

"You were manipulated into leaving him behind. I know you don't like telling yourself this, but it's the truth. You were a victim too. You don't have to pity yourself every day, but you can at least give yourself some grace. You were just a kid." Though her grasp was firm and her gaze honest, her voice was soft and patient, reminding him that she would tell him again if that's what he wanted.

"I just don't know how to get out of this. I've been trying so hard to keep all my feelings at bay. Now...it's too much. It's like I'm being suffocated." Y/N stood and brought him up with her, pulling on his hoodie and adjusting the wrinkles in it as she looked into his eyes.

"I think," She paused to clean up his glasses, his vision blurring for a moment as he watched her facial expression go from clear, to a blurry blob of nothing.

"Finding a great therapist, and taking today to just veg out and eat some chips sounds great." She placed his glasses gently back on his face and offered a small smile while tilting her head. That smile that had become clear as day again, flooded him with reassurance and warmth as he brought his sleeves up to his wet face.

"How does that sound?"

"I think that sounds perfect."

Summer always feels like Saeyoung to me, probably because I replayed his route almost every year I went on summer holiday.

(coincidence much that these holidays often involved long car rides that lined up nicely with that part of his route? I don't think so)

So, despite my own discomfort in summer, the warm air and sunny days make me think of him. I may not be replaying his route this summer (yet), but he's been in my mind more strongly than ever.

In the spirit of that, and to bring back an old post of mine, here are some more Saeyoung summer headcanons.

Falling in love with Saeyoung (in the summer):

His route takes place in a particularly hot and humid August

Not that you'd know it, having been stuck inside for all that time

Especially towards the end, the apartment starts to feel like its own isolated world

With your feelings developing and Seven's life unravelling, you have barely any time to pay attention to what's happening outside

So imagine when it comes time to leave and you step out into a cheerful sunny day

It feels almost like the world is welcoming you back after nearly ten days of isolation

There is something magic in the air, a sweetness you can almost taste

Your mutual pining has become nearly unbearable, and perhaps it's just the endless blue skies as you drive down open roads but it feels like maybe the two of you will finally get somewhere

Time stretches out in front of you, not in the way it did back in the apartment (a neverending dark corridor) but more like a promise: there will be time to breathe before the future hits you

And the tension! If the apartment was small then the car is absolutely cramped

There are so many opportunities for (not-so) accidental touches to happen - and you bet that they do

Your arm brushing his as you reach around for something in the backseat, his hand accidentally overshooting when reaching for the handbrake and touching your thigh...

It's nearly enough to do you in

Flirting and teasing him in the apartment was one thing, but out here it feels different (in the open, nowhere to hide, sunlight on his face making his eyes sparkle)

For a while you speed down the roads with the windows down and you feel carefree in a way you haven't in a long time

The adrenaline of being on the run and the excitement of being with him on this journey combine into this rush that's heady and dizzying

It seems like even his spirits have been lifted, whether it's because he's out of the apartment or because you're both on the move, you have no way of knowing

You are aware of the fact that something big is coming, you have been warned of the danger of the task you are undertaking

But there has been so much: the bomb, the break in, the secrets that have come out

That you cannot begin to conceive of worse things, cannot bear to linger in anxiety any longer

Seven is here right next to you, more real than anything else - so you choose to focus on that

A few hours in, he pulls into a side road to record his message to the agency (wincing just before pressing the button, trying not to look at you as he speaks, as if he's ashamed of you seeing it)

For your benefit, he has stopped by the sea, and you watch the waves roaring in and washing out as he talks, picking up the way his inflection has changed (the very real threat that sits right under the brightness of his voice), sun hot on your cheeks in the absence of the car AC

The roof is down and there's a slight breeze drifting through the car (if you try, you can just about pick up the scent of the sea: brine and salt and the endless open)

Yet, you find yourself craving having him close again

The second the recording ends, he turns back to you (and the malice is gone, he's all sunlight and perhaps some trepidation)

You reach your hand out to him almost by instinct and he holds it tightly

There is a moment, just a second that passes between you that is silent and all you can hear are the distant waves and the beating of your own heart and you know something bigger is coming

When he tells you his name, it is like it has been there on the tip of your tongue the whole time

The first time you say it back to him, it comes out as tender as a term of endearment (Saeyoung like Love)

And he must hear it to, because before it can sink in truly, he is leaning down closer to you and kissing you, hard

It's not like the first time (soft kisses between nervous laughter and hesitant hands)

It's hot and hungry and sure and you don't know if the roaring in your ears is the sea or just your own exhiliration

By the time he is back in the car next to you, his cheeks are a burning red and he is hurriedly putting the car hood back up - he is muttering that the heat is getting to him

And then you drive on, changed

The little cabin he finds you is incredibly hot and stuffy

Even though the sun is going down, you have to prop open all the windows in an attempt to get some air in

He eventually gets an old dusty fan working and as night approaches it cools off marginally

However it does nothing to cool you off later in the night

Sticky and breathless and the heat between your bodies inevitable, the hours that night linger, thick like honey

You wouldn't have it any other way

You still don't know what gift it was that allowed that day to stretch on for as long as it did, but you are grateful for it regardless

Later on, knowing everything that happens, you will think back on that time differently, the whole thing coloured with a tinge of horror that you could never have anticipated

But some part of summer will always taste like adrenaline and the dizzying thrill of falling in love

And that is worth so much more

Saeyoung - The Day He Realized He Wanted to Marry You

There were 3 moments for him. The first 2 were times when he, out of nowhere, just quoted a meme reference and without missing a beat you responded. 

But there was a moment he vividly remembered. 

It was at a party. They had decided to increase the capacity of the guest list, and though you never expressed it, there was a bit of pressure on your part as the planner. He tried his best to help but he was occupied with work and his brother settling in. 

You took it like a champ, but the nerves really set in on the morning of the party. 

He watched you that day clean, moisturize, and exfoliate every inch of your skin. Saeyoung didn’t dare bother you during the ritual. 

Finally, the party came. Normally, Saeyoung would drive you to the venue, but since his brother wouldn’t be attending, he wanted to make sure everything was in order before he left him. And so, you headed to the venue earlier.

When he arrived, the party was already well underway. 

His eyes searched the crowd for your familiar stature with a half-jesting apology already forming on his lips. 

He spotted you by one of the tables speaking to the owner of a small jewelry business. The woman seemed to enjoy your company. She was inviting you to the new store they opened in the mall. It was their first expansion and you looked just as elated as she did.

A younger woman was beside her. Immediately, your demeanor shifted. You were a bit cheerier, a bit less formal. She was talking to you about a dating sim you both played. You laughed at something she said. Something about tragic backstories and how writers knew how to hurt their readers.

And he found himself pausing at the sight… at the normalcy of the scene.

His midnight thoughts crept up in his moment of hesitation.

Perhaps this is what you really needed. Normalcy. Idle chatter about going to the mall. Playing video games to pass the time. It should be this and not…

Not waiting for hours on end to make sure he comes back home in one piece

Not dealing with sleepless nights because you got woken up by the screaming

And certainly not putting up with… him.

With his skillset, it would be a simple thing to disappear. To retreat into the crowd and wipe the entirety of his existence from your life. 

You got pulled into this life because of him and now that you’re with him…you’re even deeper.

No, you don’t deserve this. You deserve a normal life. A peaceful one. 

His mouth suddenly dried and the half-jesting apology dissipated on his tongue. 

He took one step back. And before he knew it, he was walking away from the scene… from you.

His heart hammered in his chest. Taking hold of his breaths. Thoughts ravaged in his mind.

He’s doing it again. He’s pushing you away. 

No, this is the right thing to do.

Wait, just… he has to calm down. This isn’t the answer.

But it is. The only thing he’s going to give you is trouble.

No, that’s not true. You love him. You’ll always love him.

But he doesn’t deserve that. And you… you don’t deserve all the shit he’s got with him.

Arms snaked around his waist. His fight or flight instinct flared up. He fists clenched but before he could do anything else, a voice halted the torrent of his thoughts.

“Caught you!” you yelled with a giggle. 

He turned his head as you rested your chin on his shoulder. “H-h…hey,” he answered in a low voice. You smiled at him. His heart slowed at the sight of your face. “You look beautiful.”

Your eyes narrowed in a jesting glare. “If you think flattering me will get you out of trouble you’ve got another thing coming, mister. Don’t think I didn’t see you running away while I dealt with Mr. Dokgo. That was seriously cruel.”

His hands reached up to touch the arms holding him in place. “Sorry. I didn’t think you needed me.”

“And where did you get that idea? I’ll always need you and because of that,” your glare became sharper and your voice dropped an octave, “I will always find you.”

Something in those words and the jokingly ominous manner you phrased it unlatched something in his chest. And with it, a warmth washed over his stature and he felt his mouth spread to a grin. Then, catching onto your jest, he faked a sob. “There will be no escape for me. This is my life now. Trapped and helpless.”

“I’m glad you understand your unfortunate circumstances. As punishment, you are sentenced to feeding me honey buddha chips while we watch the best or arguably worst bollywood film I can find.”

He chuckled. “Okay.”

“And… and you have to buy me and Saeran our favorite ice cream flavors.”

“Roger that.”

“We each get one pint.”

“Hm. You’re really milking this aren’t you?”

“Oh! And you’re taking me to a cat cafe as soon as you’re available.”

He nodded with equal parts of sincerity and resignation. “Yes, ma’am.”

The two of you paused when you heard a sigh. In front of you, Zen stood with a bored expression. “I mean, I know you guys are in love but really? In front of the guests?”

A blush coated your cheeks. A real one. Not the kind that your makeup gave you. You released him immediately and the urge to distance himself has all but dissipated.

“It’s time for your speech,” Zen informed.

You gave Zen a mock salute before walking off. “Hey, I’ll catch you later, okay?”

He smiled. Softly. Knowingly. This was his life. It's you and him against everything. And he wants it for the rest of time. So he yields to his fate and answered, “I’ll be waiting.”

707 / Luciel / Saeyoung Choi Headcanons I Have

‼️⚠️ SPOILERS AHEAD ⚠️‼️

• Has ADHD but if anyone brings it up he brushes it off because he thinks it makes him lesser. He’s not ableist he just needs to be educated :(

• I know in the official art he’s pretty pale but I hc him as having tanner skin and some freckles

• Has an undiagnosed personality disorder probably

• Too paranoid to go to church in person so he made a personal shrine in his home that he makes sure to spend time at

• Hates seeing his father on TV because it reminds him how similar they look. He’ll go into a weeks long depression every time where he’ll avoid mirrors because all he sees is his mother and father

• Loves cross dressing but is too scared to think deeply and self reflect about the gender euphoria it gives him because Korea isn’t very accepting

• Hated college because he felt like it was too structured and he doesn’t like being told what to do

• His favorite color is red (obviously)

• Doesn’t want or have any tattoos

• Most of the decor in his house was handmade impulsively and placed somewhere random

• Ultimately wants to move out of the bunker and into a more realistic house with no sci-fi-like doorbells or weapons but his paranoia stops him

• Sometimes stays up till the morning watching security cams in and around the bunker out of fear someone will try and hurt Saeran or MC

• Loves the dopamine hit that buying new cars gives him. It’s almost addicting impulse buying expensive things

• Desperately needs someone to match his neurodivergentness and thankfully his twin brother does perfectly

• His glasses are constantly dirty he never cleans those mfs

• Likes to paint his nails black but it’s always cracked and messed up

• Him and Saeran made up a secret language that they refuse to teach anyone else, even MC

• Welded flowers and spray painted them for him and MC’s anniversary (Saeran told him which flowers to make bc he knows their meanings)

• MC’s engagement ring is a Ruby (to represent Saeyoung) and whatever stone is MC’s favorite swirling together to look like a binary star system

• We know in his route that he has muscles because of his work, but after he runs from the agency, MC noticed some of his bulkiness going away

• But he still keeps a lot of his muscle, he just has some more squishiness around his torso

• Regrets his bunker not having windows because he knows Saeran loves looking at the sky

• Builds a garden in his backyard for Saeran :)

• Too paranoid to get a therapist so one of his more toxic traits is using MC as a therapist

• Goes through periods of not sharing anything emotionally with MC & sharing way too much and borderline dumping all his shit on them

• Has bad abandonment issues

• Loves experimenting with makeup and showing Saeran and MC

• Has both an inferiority and superiority complex

• Owns an obsessive amount of stuffed animals and yes, they all have names

• Idk if this is canon or not but he has curly hair

• I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned this already but I hc him as bisexual (he literally mentioned at some point that V’s voice was his type)

• And since it’s basically canon he at least finds V attractive and V is more of a parental/guardian figure to him, I can conclude Saeyoung 100% has daddy issues (duh)

• Has had feelings for Vanderwood at some point

• Horrible at personal hygiene

• Doesn’t drink or do drugs (canon)

• He’s a compulsive liar :/

• Wants a cat but is so bad at taking care of himself he doesn’t trust himself taking care of an animal

• Has staff constellation, and planet stickers & posters all over his room (he’s a nerd)

• Learns sign language so when he’s mad at MC or Saeran he only communicates through sign to piss them off

• Wayyyyyyy too comfy invading people’s personal and cyber privacy because of his line of work

• Lactose intolerant because I think it’s funny

• Light sleeper because of the house he grew up in and his work at the agency

• Kind of apathetic to traumatic things other people go through if it wasn’t as “bad” as his. Not in a “I think I’m better than you” kind of way, but in a way where some issues just don’t compare to an abusive, alcoholic mother, a politician father who wants to kill him, being a secret agent made to do who knows what, and more.

• Catches up on childhood by indulging in childish hobbies and interests. He’s making up for the lost time :(

• His tummy always hurts from his horrible diet

• His cologne smells like apple spice (it’s actually a perfume for women but who cares)

• But tbh on the daily he smells like a mix of his basic masculine body wash, honey buddah chips, and grease (sorry)

• Very protective. Takes on a caretaker role for those closest to him

• Sometimes very controlling. Gets anxious when he can’t control everything around him.

• Acts very parental towards Saeran. He always did because he had to in their childhood, but Saeyoing still does it. It makes him feel good being able to properly provide for Saeran.

• He mentioned in his route that he never really wanted or thought about having a family other than Saeran, and I feel like he would still think the same after meeting MC. Just now he thinks of his family as just him, Saeran, and MC. I don’t think he’d want kids

• Literally never cleans his sheets…

• Can only convince himself to clean anything in his house because he doesn’t want Saeran to have to live in filth again

RFA Going to a concert with MC! (Rock/Metal)

Yoosung

You send him some links to their music videos, and he accepts the invite because he knows it's something you'd enjoy. He would be extremely anxious about it at first. But as soon as the band starts playing, he would be going all out. He would point out the songs that you'd sent him, and get as excited as you are. He definitely end up working himself into a moshpit somehow.

Zen

He says yes purely because he's getting to spend time with you. He knows it's not his kind of music and what he's into, sure, but that look on your face when they come out onto that stage is all worth it. He spends some time in the crowd taking pictures with fans, but most of all ends up taking videos of the band for you to rewatch later, and blurry pictures of you enjoying yourself.

Saeyoung/707

He listens to every kind of music while he's working. Dancing, singing along, anything. You name it and he's listened to it. So when you ask he jumps at the chance. You both show up in band tshirts, take a shot and work your way to the front and absolutely KILL it. Headbanging, the lot.

Jumin

At first, he declines pretty quickly. He respects that that's what you listen too, so he'd hope you would do the same. He recommends taking Jaehee, but after some back and fourth, he gives in. He's looked into the band and there attire and tries to blend in, so when he picks you up, it's quite a shock, but you appreciate the effort. He asks you why you like them as much as you do, it intrigued him. He nudges to you a few times while he's in the crowd that it's too loud, but seeing you enjoy yourself makes it worth it. Even if he knows his ears will still be ringing in the morning.

Jaehee

She's taken aback with the offer. Why would you want to take her? She talks about that she has a lot of work that still needs to do, so you spend your day convincing Jumin to let her have the evening off for once. She's worried, but greatful. It's not her kind of music, far from it really but she wants to do her best and enjoy it with you. She's a bit concerned at first, everyone dressed as they are. It takes a few songs and loud words of encouragement through the noise from you to help her loosen up and enjoy the moment.

Jihyun/V

After offering, he listens to a few of their songs, and does try to say at first that he probably isn't the best person to take to a concert like this, but agrees to it. He listens to the words more than the music as a whole. He spent most of his time tapping his feet and smiling as he watches you scream along. You grab his hand and try to get him to join in, and honestly he does try his hardest, but mostly chuckles at himself while he tries to blend in.
