Ooooh @neil-gaiman any chance there might be 8 episodes in season 3 (Neighbour of the Beast and all that!)
hello there,
is there anything you can say about the theory of a seventh episode? i’ve seen that idea floated around quite a bit
There are six episodes in Season 2. If we are permitted to make it there will be six episodes in Season 3.

underappreciated weird part of alcestis (aside from. you know. all the other weird parts) is that when admetus is yelling at his dad for refusing to die for him he says that since his wife died in his place, like a father should have, he now considers himself his wife's child instead of his father's child.

Good Omens Christmas jumpers, because of course they are a thing now
Glad to see that I’m not the only one clowning about the Good Omens Christmas jumper designs! You know what it means — putting together everything in one thread to make the further speculations more streamlined and, obviously, fun.
On November 20th, Rob Wilkins was present at the “Designing Terry Pratchett’s Discworld” event at Brendon Books. Probably not much to talk about from most of the Good Omens fans perspective, if not for the journalist Kat Brown posting on Bluesky the next morning:
But wait, something’s wrong. Or maybe not wrong, just… different. Why is Crowley the one shielding Aziraphale with his wing in his demonic, black-clothed, black-winged form? That’s a clear deviation from the pattern established in Eden and Before the Beginning.
There was barely enough time to discuss this phenomenon properly though. In the afternoon of November 21st, Rob made a previously unannounced appearance at the Paul Kidby’s “Designing Terry Pratchett’s Discworld” event at Waterstones Piccadilly, where he presented the Aziraphalean version of the jumper. On it — one Forty Years of Discworld pin and a second one in preparation for 2025 as The Year of the Luminous Lemur. Thanks to the phenomenal @basement-jax (I’m not exaggerating, I’ve seen her perform live on stage with Michael Sheen last month) present on site, we got the next photos in real time:
Let’s compare both designs, starting with the most noticeable difference — their color schemes. Both consist of six different swatches, three of which (white, black, and skin tone) repeat. The remaining three are two shades of the fourth color (brown for Aziraphale and red for Crowley) and a fifth, contrasting color (blue and yellow, respectively).
Six is obviously a very important number in terms of the Good Omens lore. Six episodes per season, 666 as the number of the Beast (Antichrist/Adam), 668 as the original title of the unpublished sequel — the ending of this story that will be finally adapted and revealed very soon. Not accidental.
Which brings us to the question of the left angel’s hair. Changing two brown shades to two golden ones, one already used in the other color scheme, not only shouldn’t be a problem for the designer, but would be a cheaper option and ensure consistency with the right angel’s design.
Some netizens have suggested that this discrepancy is caused by the left design representing the book iterations of the Ineffable Husbands. Book Crowley’s hair is dark — could be black, brown, red, even dark blond — and book Aziraphale’s hair is blond, which logically could be depicted as white or light brown.
Their graphic novel iterations created by Colleen Doran use black for Crowley’s hair (much longer than that of the left jumper demon) and blond for Aziraphale, close enough to the yellow yarn already used in this project and not quite the same shape as the jumper angels’ hairstyles.
Since neither seem to be an exact match for the design, could it be reverse Omens? The answer is not as simple. The characters aren’t just swapped; both of their hairstyles have been redrawn, at least partially. Unlikely a technical issue, when wings and clothes stayed exactly the same.
That would be the facts. Now onto the silliness!
My clowning theory is that we’re dealing with two alternative timelines or retellings here.
For Christmas, Crowley wishes for things to stay exactly the same as they are — but with him as Aziraphale’s protector, the romantic hero his angel needs and deserves.
Aziraphale wishes for a past where he doesn’t exist, or at least never meets Crowley. That’s how the latter would stay an angel and his role of the Serpent of Eden would be taken over by someone else — someone like Beelzebub, perhaps, with their small frame and short black hair?
@bardraelyn kindly suggested yet another option, purely out of amusement: “What if the “Aziraphale’ sweater depicts Lucifer and God?”.
What about you? What are your theories?
This clowning is now officially approved by Rob:

Adam's first squad members : D! (He had obtained 10 members to lead first in my fanfiction before they became exorcists).
Wanted to draw them for peeps. I may draw the high-ranking angels who have been playing a role in my story next week. We shall see o.o
I didn't draw Vaggie yet but wanted to draw the others who have shown up in my "Hoping in Hell" Fanfic of Hazbin Hotel : ). They, except for Lute, are my Oc's in the story and are very powerful. I didn't draw 668, 669, 670 yet either but 661 - 666 are more prominent
At this moment, they, except for Lute, have only showed up in Lute's past scenes.
Spoiler:
These angels are not dead yet and will be playing a role in part 3 and 4

Season 1: 6 episodes
Season 2: 6 episodes
Season 3: 6 episodes (?)
Holy. Together they make 666…
666. You know?? Im going insane.
Also, IF S3 would have 8 episodes, there also would be more to see and explore, but it would make 668. I believe 668 was going to be the title of the sequel book of Good omens.

you know what, I want to see hair color 668 on Crowley for Good Omens 3
just for fun because we already got 666 and 777 previously and then the title of the book sequel could have been 668 so why not right
Comparison between Season 2 (left, crimson dyed quiff) and Season 1 (right, copper shoulder length wig) appearances of Crowley, played by David Tennant, in Good Omens.
Swatches of hair colors, described below from left to right.
777, Schwarzkopf. A rich orange-copper shade, one of the usual hues coming to mind when describing someone's hair as “ginger”. 777 is symbolic of Heaven.
666, Revlon. A deep crimson red, befitting the famously devilish symbolism of its code number.
668, Schwarzkopf. A shade of chestnut brown. Among the three colors, this one would be most commonplace. A planned literary sequel for Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch would have had the (working?) title of 668: Neighbour of the Beast.
I know it's a bit drastic to compare to his usual looks and it's too close to David Tennant's actual hair color but dear fuck doesn't that say a lot already????
in the first season Crowley sports a natural ginger while he's close to Aziraphale and thus putting on a show for the two sides of the coin that is Heaven/Hell
he's also ginger as an orange cat in most flashbacks (Eden, Uz, Golgotha, Edinburgh, Paris, M25 planning)
but then come the second season there are 2 flashbacks where he's crimson: the nebula minisode and 1941 when his hat was off)
post-lockdown Crowley sports that crimson hair in a very slicked quiff as he's trying his hardest to stay close to and be himself more around Aziraphale, but finds an ever present rift between the two of them
because while Aziraphale still believes in the system that Heaven/Hell runs on, Crowley stopped a long time ago and became his own person, and the choice of a less earthy color on his hair seems to reflect it
so what's it going to say if Crowley, now truly alone and severed from the abusers and their system that his partner had chosen over being with him on Earth, sports a darker hair color that finally makes him blend into the planet that he helped save from Armageddon at least once upon a time?
I mean it's not book Crowley kind of dark hair but you get the idea

if season 3 had 8 episodes you’d have a ‘668 the neighbour of the beast’ joke
Hello, Mr. Gaiman sir.
Did Amazon Prime insist that Good Omens 2 be 6 episodes like the first season? Was it a struggle for the writers to have the story meet this demand?
Asking as an aspiring film/tv maker
No, I picked six episodes for Season 1 as it felt about right, and then I did another six for season 2 because it felt right. Fates willing, Season 3 will also be 6 episodes.
#and we would get two extra episodes#they can be about Sadie and Dottie I really wouldn’t mind#i just want it to be 668 as a nod towards the title of the sequel they never wrote#anyway don’t mind me#666 is also hellishly fine#good omens#neil gaiman#the loveliest troll

You people know bout 668 theorie???
Basically the second good omens book neil and terry came up with was supposed to be called 668.
Now the theorie is that season 3 is going to be 8 episodes long comparey to 1&2 only spanning 6.
But hear me out bitches!!! What if season 3 is 6 episodes long because 666
And a week after it came out there is a surprise drop. BAM TWO MORE EPISODES. Just domestic blizz and fluff. We see them move into the southdown cottage, dnuggle on the couch, wine and dine.
Cause neil once wrote that season3 will be faster paced like s1.
Maybe less time for gentle and romantic stuff like s2.
Idk hope dies last. Screaming, crying, wanting s3.

Random Thought about Translation...
📚And why I feel so honored and pleased doing it!🪶
(Texte en français après "Afficher davantage", venez donc les amoureux de la langue de Molière ❤)
For the past weeks, I've had the honour and pleasure of being my dear @malohkeh-main's beta reader for her French translation of "Demon and Angel Professors", a gorgeous and gigantic Good Omens AU written by Ghostinthehouse aka @ineffableghost.
Malohkeh does the heavy work, while your humble servant adapts the text as best as possible for French readers. A hard but fascinating work!
Just so you know, each chapter of the English text is exactly 666 words, and Malohkeh made sure to respect this from the beginning. Sometimes, it is possible to manage to end up with a satisfying, coherent translation at 666 words. And sometimes you just cannot do it in French language (AO3 even counts some punctuation marks as words!). So we keep a wordcount made of 3, 6, 7 and 9 for reasons of our own.
Today I worked on the one-shot titled "Would I lie to you" and it was definitely a 666-achievable chapter, while being fluid to read in French. That moment when I tweak, tweak, and tweak again...reading and reading, going from 661 to 668 words, then 665, 667, 663...before reaching the last sentence. A sentence where I go full YOLO in my prettiest french-writing mode, then save the draft...and the word count claims "666". Muhahaha. It just feels like this to me:
If you haven't read "Demon and Angel Professors" I can only encourage you to do it here!
And if you're a Francophone, please have a look at our first translations! Give us a feedback if you'd like!
And thank you so much @vanam0nde for checking/translating my ineffable babblings on Tumblr!
