I can't find a beatles page to send this ask to so i'm gonna write it here for the 4 people that follow me cause of beatles related stuff

Couple of days ago i started reading "All About Love" by bell hooks and, in there, there's this definition of love

The will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth

When i saw this definition my mind flew to the beatles and now im gonna poorly explain why

i'd say this definition sticks to the beatles in the way the 4 of them percieved THE BEATLES as it's own thing. i also see diffrent periods and diffrent ways this love for THE BEATLES was present and given from the 4 to the band/concept

I clearly see in the Moptop years this action of "excenting one self" for the growth of THE BEATLES. It's not strange that it's from this period that the "4 headed monster" analogy comes from. The first dissillusioment arrives around 64/65 with the touring first and then with the use of LSD. i'd say the use of the drug made the 4 (John and George first) "fall into themselves" as in realizing that they're singular individuals and not just a part of this bigger concept. It's from this period (from BEATLES FOR SALE) that we see the 4, especially John, look more into themselves to write songs

The psychedelic period (from 65 to 67) i'd say its the moment where there's a balance between the 4 and THE BEATLES. The cooncept is still up there, still getting love from the 4 but the 4 are starting to love themselves too: George dives fully in his interest about Indian music and culture, Paul writes scores for movies, John is in a movie, Ringo idk much sorry

WIth the trip in india i think what happend in 64/65 happens again. imo, the combination of meditaion and being away from their home country, made so that there was a break between the 4 and THE BEATLES. imo george and john after the trip, wanted to switch the "flow of love" from THE BEATLES to the individual parts. George wants to be recognized as an established songwriter and an equal to J&P, John wants to have (again imo) Paul's love directed to him and not "the concept". That's why we have the infamous tense relations goin on from now till the end of the band between Paul and George+John. The latter 2 want to change the flow of love, while Paul is still very much keepin that attention and love flowing to the THE BEATLES

I talk about love here cause i feel that's what i feel the 4 felt for THE BEATLES throughout the years. The change is when (at least) 2 of the 4 want to have some of that love that was just given to the concept, for themselves too (rightfully so id say)

The end of the band wasn't the end of THE BEATLES and the 4 reacted in diffrent ways to this breakup: John was super bitter about it in the early 70, Paul wouldn't play a single Beatles' song till 75, George (even toh he mentioned the band in Living in The Material World + writing a full song about the band in the 80s) distances himself too from it and Ringo says he was angry for years cause of the brake up (i just googled this so dont take my words as gold)

Today is election day and you know how USamericans tend to make jokes and complain about jury duty and how it is a pain in the ass??

Well, in Spain we feel that way about "getting electoral table" (literal translation). It means that counting votes and ensuring that the elections go as they should is a citizen chore. If you are chosen, you MUST go. They will pay you €70 for the day, but the day can be well over 10 hours.

You have to open, set up the table, ensure that all the papers for voting are where they're supposed to be, make sure that the person voting is who they say they are (check their ID) and that they are voting what they want to vote (they are in their right mind and were able to make an informed choice, there have been scandals of nuns bringing old people to vote who had dementia and it was casually benefitting the right wing parties). You have to count the votes in the end of the day and close.

If you cannot make it, you have to justify it and there are some eaccepted reasons, like you are over 65, if you are sick, disabled in such a way that it is impossible to carry this task, or severely injured, if you are over 6 months pregnant, if you are in prison or in a psychiatric ward, if you have already participated in an electoral table, if you have an order not to get close to someone for some crime you committed and you live in the same area as them, if you live in a convent and made a vow not to ever leave it, if you have a child or elder to your care, if there is a family event you cannot cancel, if you work for a news agency of some sort and are charged with covering the news relevant to the election.

do the boys ever get perticually accidentally harsh with mike on his mental health stuff? like ALL OF IT but they are just trying to undertanding him but accidentally make him sad and scared? like did anything rlly break mikes trust with the boys? :( #angst+pain+suffering

id have to say absolutely. mikes mental health caused him to take a LOT of his issues out on them, it was a very complicated situation. Due to the attitude towards mental health back in the 1960s, and because there weren't yet proper words or descriptions of what mike was going thru, the guys unfortunately had settled on the idea that he was just. Crazy. nuts. insane. and that's it. but the still loved him very much.

amd because mike lived such a torturous life and still wasn't receiving the proper treatment he needed, and for a long time, wasn't receiving ANY treatment whatsoever. he was quickly hurdling towards a darkness he may not have come back from, if it weren't for the boys. they did have to Put Up with him a lot. his mental health was very severe all throughout the 60s, Micky had seen his fair share in '65, in what could reasonably called these days as a Toxic friendship. that's how it stayed for the most part as well.

mike never intended any harm, but his PTSD was so very severe he spent a lot of time in fits of rage or psychosis, and of course was made a lot more bitter by the fact that he couldnt be "normal" like everyone else. he was barely functioning at this point. effectively disabled. and given that his physical health was very often on the line too, things were only made more difficult

anyway, yes, the guys were often unintentionally very harsh on him. fights would start, mike was very stubborn and refused at chance for treatment or intervention, and it caused a deep frustration in the guys, because they really did love him so very deeply, and they couldn't stand to watch him being pretty much eaten alive by his own mind. of course even after the events of 1967, he stilled remained very severe, even when he finally began receiving treatment.

because of his stubbornness, things nearly ended several times. they were tearing eachother apart and sometimes it just felt unsalvageable. it's hard to help someone who's so severe, and who doesn't want help, or atleast feels like he didn't need help

they hurt him many many times, he hurt them many many times. there were many times where they couldve handled it differently, but they didnt always have the post "progressive" views on mental health, even though for their time, they could've been considered progressive. they scared him many times, even ended up causing him flashbacks, which often times would cause him to become violent and unreachable.

I think they definitely broke his trust quite a few times, but there were so many things that they didn't know would break his trust. mike was really just so volatile and unpredictable on what would hurt him day to day.

all in all it was a very terrible situation that couldn't have lasted long without the intervention he got in '68 .they were all hurting, and they were all hurting eachother

I think it all got much better in the 80s, when there was finally language to describe mikes mental state. by that time he was much better, managing himself a lot better, but his PTSD was still causing him issues, and becahse it was really CPTSD, he had about a half a million triggers that would show up out of nowhere and really ruin his day. when he was diagnosed with PTSD, that's when things really fell into place for the better, because then he started receiving (mostly) proper treatment for it

he still suffers PTSD issues even in the 90s, but they're nowhere near as severe as the 60s/70s, and he's even better able to talk about it or ask for help when he needs it
