He really was just a rat, huh?

Jervis Tetch stole a glance at your full body mirror in your shared bedroom. A brief reminder of just how much taller you and the rest of the world are compared to him.

He furrowed his eyes in worry as he noticed his gray hair getting whiter…almost as pale as his skin. Practically a fleshy bed sheet. 

His pointy ears, his unsightly nose, and then his teeth. His elongated, pointy, tea stained buck teeth.

The neuroscientist dragged his eyes down lower. To his awkward body shape and small plump around his belly. He attempted to push down to flatten his stomach, but it refused to stick. 

Jervis gritted his teeth in annoyance. These thoughts wouldn't have happened if he would have avoided your damn mirror. 

He almost had a compulsion to break the thing, but he couldn't dare destroy something of yours…no matter how trivial it may be to him or if it caused him any grief. 

A crying creak filled the room, alerting Jervis of your arrival. As if a switch had been flipped he turned to face you and forced a cheery cheek to cheek smile. 

"Ah, there you are, darling."

"Jervy!" You squealed. You ran over to the other side of the room. 

It had been a lengthy, tiresome day. You wanted nothing more than to come home and cuddle with the one you loved most.

You dropped to your knees in front of Jervis and before he could compute anything, you had him engulfed in your embrace.

Whatever insecurities Jervis was combating earlier was shifted to the sidelines as he made whatever troubled you his newest priority. 

He couldn't help but relish in your strong and warm hold though.

Jervis returned the hug asking. "Is..is everything all right, beloved?"

You giggled. Always enjoying those sweet yet proper nicknames he called you. 

"More than okay now that I'm with you. It was just…a really long day, I missed you."

The smile on Jervis' face turned genuine as his heart swelled. He could have never imagined having such a comforting impact on another, try as he might in the past. 

"I…em, I missed you too, darling." 

You pulled away slightly and smiled warmly at him. 

"Then it's a good thing I'm here now. And we have the next two days to ourselves!" You leaned in and kissed the bridge of his nose. 

"Two whole days with the most brilliant and handsomest man in Gotham. I must be the luckiest person in the world!" You kissed both his cheeks in between the sentences and then leaned in for one sweet kiss on his lips. 

Jervis' heart skipped a few beats as he took in your devoted affections. His whole body was lit by the warmth of your love where cold judgment once had held. 

He almost whined when you slowly retracted from him and stood up on your feet. 

"I'll be right back, Jervy." You assured as you noticed his face slightly fall from your absent touch. "I gotta get out of these work clothes. I'll join you in bed soon." 

The promise of being back in your arms caused Jervis to snap into action as he waited patiently for you under the covers.

Before long you two are rejoined in each other's arms under the comfy bed comforter. 

Jervis couldn't help but notice you lovingly gave attention to every area of his body he was criticizing earlier. 

You raked your fingers through his gray hair, you caused his pale skin to flare red. You whispered sweet nothings in his ear and kissed his nose. You caressed and even tickled his stomach playfully. 

Jervis supposed he could be content in himself for as long as you felt contentment in loving him.

its been sooooo damn hot >:(

i usually walk/run around my neighborhood all the time, stop in my local CVSs for things, stop by 7-11 for a drink and generally just wander. i love doing it esp in summer and spring but its been too damn hot to do so! i might try tomorrow cause itll finally be somewhat cooler. i plan on getting up early too so i can walk for longer before it gets too hot. i also love driving to the library staying for awhile and then walking around there, theres a great antique place right across the street from the library that i love and a strip mall w another drug store. i love drug stores btw theyre one of mans greatest inventions. so much in one place for a decent price, its great! i sometimes when my ma goes into the office for work (she works from home mon and fri) i walk for hours cause my dad doesnt really care as long as im back by sundown so i just kinda wander. i probably shouldnt tho i dont live in a particularly great neighborhood but its still fun to wander and im safe abt it, i walk on main roads and avoid residential areas. maybe tomorrow ill finally try this snowball place thats on my usual walking route. i should check for more cool places i can walk to. usually i just walk to the CVS pick up something if i need it and then hang out on the steps of a presbyterian church near me. i live close to a surprising amount of churches. i know on the main road i walk down theres a vintage store somewhere and a book store so maybe ill pop in there or smthn if its not too crazy hot to walk so far, i also need stuff from the drug store so def walking there at least and maybe down to those stores. i love that my dad doesnt really care how long im out he trusts me so i can wander for as long as id like, well ive gotta be home by sundown. or really by around 630/7 which is when my ma gets home. as much as i love hanging around inside all day i do like going outside and getting some fresh air besides it makes me feel like im not wasting the day away or anything. it is supposed to storm tomorrow but not till night i think. ill let u know if anything interesting happens and if i finally get that snowball lol. walks really help me clear my head and always cheer me up a bit :) shame its been so hot

How are/were the lines to get in the stadium? I know the merch lines are crazy but I haven't seen much about the stadium lines and I'm trying to prepare for tomorrow lol

Omg so sorry!!!! For anyone else going I assume most stadiums are similar. For me, bathroom lines were the worst so I’d say if you have to go, hydrate a lot earlier in the day and try to go before the show. Like I’d much rather pee during the opening acts than taylor. And I was fine waiting until the end.

I didn’t think getting in was bad at all, honestly. Pretty quick but I also got there around 630 cause my mom was stuck in traffic.

Musings:

You know...

...there really isn't a good time to get back into writing. Especially not after such a long break. That's become abundantly clear to me now.

Gonna take a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears to get back to the point where typing out words doesn't feel like torture.

And it certainly doesn't help that my characters are all nameless because I haven't finished my conlangs yet, and my scene-setting is atrocious because I haven't finished my worldbuilding yet.

But...

...it's been over two years since I actually attempted to write on a daily basis, and I think it's important to rebuild that habit sooner rather than later.

So, here I be: Typing out the worst crap I've ever typed in my life. Shaking off layers upon layers of rust, hoping that there will be some kind of remaining talent or skill left underneath.

On another note: I'm a HUGE fan of The Most Dangerous Writing App. Mostly cuz it gets me writing when I'd normally be sitting there, staring at the blinking cursor. All I gotta do is work up the nerve to hit that first letter and BOOM! We're off! Typing like crazy - fighting off any significant pause lest the app viciously delete everything I've written.

Granted, everything I wrote today was trash, but still.

These “rules” suck. Lol.

But they should also pertain to family and friends too.

I often wait on other peoples schedules and times.

But I also make myself available to those I’m actually interested in.

But Selvon, yes I switched things around just to be with him but it wasn’t crazy changes.

Schedules aren’t always going to match up.

I work Monday to Friday. 7-3.

He works during the week 330–9. With 2 days off but working the weekend.

So we’d see each other on his day off, but after 3pm.

Or when he gets out of work at 9pm.

Or id take a half day but it’s not changing my life drastically and I’d do that for friends and fam too. Just not as eager.

He’s been working every weekend. Getting out at 9 on Saturday’s or 630-730 on Sundays. Those days I’m off so I’d hang out with him after.

The plans we have aren’t that last minute, aside from the random city trip we took. But that was my decision to go along with him.

Ill ask him about 3 days ahead of time like what are you doing on this day. And we’d go from there.

Idk. I’m available but not. It does seem like I’ll just drop what I’m doing for him though.

Rainy Monday

Yesterday we had somewhat of a cold storm surprise us here in Socal. It was such a welcome change as some of you know it doesn't rain much here. Yes we have years were it may rain more than others but its mostly dry out.

Picking up from my last post. I have picked up meditating, speaking positive affirmations to myself, and started following podcasts about all this. I obviously need coping strategies and I am determined to make it through this.

Since breaking down to my loved ones I made a promise to myself to get out this. And I can tell you that just taking these steps I feel better. BUT I am learning. Its crazy at work so I need to be present for myself and be positive and gentle to myself.

I went about my day, stayed off social media during work hours. Only login in the morning and at night. Journaling now is part of that routine I got going. I realized I need to be busy and so I gave myself tasks to do and timeframes to do them in as of yesterday. This is only day two of me following these tasks but I already feel as if they are helping me not dwell on that anxiety I felt in my chest. I added calling my mother as a task and at least two friends or family members. And well it has felt good. Now when I say tasks I also included showering, washing face, exercising, meditating, and working on my positive affirmation lists. I always did they shower and washing face but I added the rest. So id say “work out at 6 to 630 shower 630 to 7″, and so on and so on up until read before bed haha

I know it may be weird but I feel like I needed this as before I felt like I would get lost in my thoughts and fears. So it has worked for me in these 2 days that I have done them but I shall see how I do moving forward.

Yesterday I parked my car in front an assisted living about to visit a patient while it was pouring. I got out of the car and well the street was flooded and I didn't realize it. I felt the cold water get in my shoes. But before I could freak out I told myself, “Its ok. Its just rain water. It will dry. Lets go see the patient that fell. You got this” I smiled and I was like, okay this positive affirmation shit works lol

Have you guys tried positive affirmations? Do you have any suggestions as well?

Sin 1: Lust 1. Who was the last person you checked out? Did they check you out too? Surprise surprise, it’s my girlfriend. Yeah she did - I think I’d start worrying if she didn’t, lmao.

2. Who was the last person you desired, but they didn’t feel the same? Gab, at one point. Other than her, I haven’t desired anybody else; but I was on the ‘didn’t feel the same’ side at least once, back when Mike used to like me.

3. Ever cheated on a significant other? If so, have you learned from it? No, I’ve never cheated.

4. Do you watch porn? Yes. I’d have phases where I’d view it 2-3 times a week, then I’d completely stop for months – kinda like how everyone plays The Sims lol. I don’t know why it works like that for me.

5. Do you masturbate? Sometimes.

6. Best physical features on your preferred sex? I don’t have a preferred sex, and my favored features differ per person.

7. Who are some celebrities that you think are totally hot? Kristen Stewart, if you don’t me already haha. Also Eugene Lee Yang from the Try Guys, Beyoncé, and Jennifer Aniston.

8. Did you ever lust after a best friend’s significant other? How did it turn out? Mmm nope, I never found myself attracted to Hans in any way. The fact that he has always been associated with Angela ever since high school also helps.

9. When was the last time you had sex? Like a week before Christmas, I think.

Sin 2: Gluttony 1. When did you last eat at a restaurant? What restaurant was it? Last Monday – Gab and I went to Yabu to catch dinner. We had been entertaining my mom’s guests and their kid all day and thought we couldn’t leave the house cos it’s a bit impolite, but I had such a craving that I ended up asking permission if we can go to Yabu by 8:30 even though the mall closed by 9 lol. I realize I talk about Yabu an awful lot on here so for those who wanna know, it’s this local Japanese place that serves theeeee best katsu.

2. When did you last have fast food? Where did you get it? I don’t actually remember. If I’m not wrong, it was around two or three weeks ago, and we had KFC delivered to our house because we were too lazy to cook or go out. I had the Zinger Steak, which I hope they never phase out because it’s insanely good.

3. What was the biggest meal you had all day? I haven’t eaten yet, and it’s only 10:51 AM. 

4. Do you have too many clothes? How often do you go shopping? I wouldn’t say it’s overwhelmingly many, but I definitely own more clothes than the pieces I’d usually wear, and that’s because I don’t like throwing old stuff out just in case I’d need them in the future (definitely got my great-grandma’s hoarding tendencies). I go shopping once in a few months, which in itself is pretty seldom, but that’s because when I go shopping I usually already buy a shit-ton of new clothes, enough for me to be able to mix and match to come up with new outfits for the next few weeks.

5. What’s something you have a LOT of? Black clothing. I’ve made an effort to get more colored tops, but the blacks still overpower.

6. Do you eat a lot? I’m very takaw-tingin, which is a Filipino term used when you get a crapload of food either because you’re hungry or because you’re confident you can finish it – or both – then you never do. Takaw means greedy or glutton, tingin roughly means sight, so it literally means that you just kinda want to get everything because it looks like a lot. So to answer the question, I always feel like I can eat a lot, but at the end of the day I just end up with stomachaches and I never learn.

7. What was the last thing you splurged (spent a lot of money) on? If a bunch of stuff counts, then I splurged on Christmas presents for various people that I all bought in one go – I got massage oils, a garlic press, a frisbee, Marikina sandals, lipstick, and Instax film. If you’re talking about a single thing that I had to drop a ton of money on, it was for my dog’s blood test and some arthritis meds that the vet recommended.

8. What do you spend most of your money on (besides bills and anything necessary like that)? I only ever spend on necessities like gas, clothes, and food, honestly. Other than that... I spend on (and this is very seldom) whatever hobby I’m into at the moment. At one point I spent on slime because I got interested in them, and before that – and y’all know about this – I spent my Christmas savings on adult coloring books and pencils.

9. Last time you ate candy? What was it? A week or two ago; I had a Crunch bar.

10. Last thing you ate too much of? Eggs, I think. My mom makes it for breakfast so I have it almost every day.

Sin 3: Greed 1. Do you share things? How often? Yeah I can be pretty generous with my stuff. I know I’d appreciate it when other people lend me their belongings, so I try to do the same. I once lent my phone to Rita for over an hour just because she wanted to play Mario Kart, and I also lent a book that’s really important to me to an online friend I barely knew; it was with him for like two years, lol.

2. Someone asks you for a piece of your cookie. You break it in half, but the pieces aren’t equal. Who gets the bigger piece? Usually it would be me; but if the person who asked for it was Gab, or if that particular person likes the cookie I have, then they get the bigger piece.

3. When you see change on the ground, do you pick it up? Only if it’s a 10-peso coin, because I’m greedily picky like that lmao. Other people might need a peso or a 5-peso coin more, so I leave it be.

4. How often do you lend money to people? I don’t, and that’s one thing I wouldn’t tend to lend. My parents just give me allowance and it’s usually enough for necessities and for treating myself once or twice a week, so I wouldn’t be able to have some left for others. Besides, that’s my parents’ money and it would be pretty fuckin’ unfair to them if I just give it away to others lmao.

5. Do you loooove money? I hate what it’s done to society, how it’s divided the rich and the poor, and how the people with the most money also tend to be the most selfish coughcoughBILLIONAIREScoughcough. But I love spending for my own, hah.

6. If someone offers to pay for you, do you decline or readily accept? Oh no no no. Decline all the way. If they keep insisting then I’ll probably give in because it’s the polite thing to do, but if I can, I’ll keep declining.

7. Which of your friends is the wealthiest? Rita. Her grandpa is a former senator and she lives in literally the swankiest neighborhood in Metro Manila; I was a bit intimidated when she invited us to her place for the first time lol. She’s the simplest person I know, too; and that’s my favorite kind of rich.

8. Would you take a high-paying job that you didn’t really like just for the money and benefits? That’s definitely what I plan to do, lmao. At least this is how I know myself now: I have enough money to buy whatever I want, and I’m a happy camper. That may change in a few months or within the next year and I may eventually wanna search for a passion – but for now, it’s the mindset I’m going with when I go job-hunting soon. If I survived four years of college with a very burnt-out, emptied passion for journalism that I thought I had, I could probs do the same in the workplace.

9. Ever stole from anyone? What about stole from a store? What happened? I unknowingly stole a box of crayons from a store back when security equipment wasn’t that rigid yet lmao. I realized I ‘stole’ it because I had it in my hands and not in a paper bag when I walked out, so I immediately went back to pay for it. I’ve never stolen anything from anyone.

10. Do you ever have enough money? I don’t think anyone ever feels this way. Ever heard of billionaires?

Sin 4: Sloth 1. Last thing you procrastinated on? Washing the dishes last night.

2. When you’re at a strip mall and the next store you want to go to is at the other side, do you drive over there instead of take a short walk? It depends how far “the other side” is. <-- Yep pretty much. If it’s literally on the other side of a street, then obviously I’d go walk. But in places like my school which is super big and where ‘other side’ could mean 2 km away, a drive would be more convenient.

3. What’s a typical day off of school and/or work like for you? I’d normally spend the day lazing around on the couch with my dog beside me and lurking around social media.

4. What’s one talent you have that you don’t really work on, even though you have the ability to be good at it? Public speaking, or debating.

5. How many hours of television do you watch a day? I keep Friends as a background noise on Netflix nearly all day because I hate when it gets too quiet around me. As for watching on an actual television, I haven’t used one in years.

6. What about the amount of time you spend on the internet a day? The internet takes up my entire day it’s crazy lol. I kinda need it for everything now.

7. How many hours of sleep do you get a day? Do you sleep in late? It’s always different. I can go anywhere between 3 and 10 hours of sleep. I don’t sleep in often, though.

8. Do you drive to places that are less than three blocks away? I don’t know how big blocks are supposed to be since we don’t use that system here. But yes, I usually drive even though Point A to Point B is very much walkable hahaha. Sin 5: Wrath 1. If you could kill one person and get away with it, would you do it? I know it’s pretty dark to come from such a place, but I’ve always thought death is an easy way out for people who’ve done awful things. I could answer this question with a name of a corrupt politician, rapists, or animal abusers, but tbh they don’t deserve the sweet escape of death, even if it were from murder.

2. Is there anyone you honestly and truly can say that you hate? Anybody who has hurt cats and dogs.

3. Is there anyone you want revenge on, whether you want to get them back big-time or just play a little prank on them for hurting your feelings? Like I said, I’d daydream about getting revenge just to satiate my desire for it, but I think it’s pretty childish and downright cartoonish to actually go through with it. I’ve only ever seen people getting petty revenge in movies, but it seems a bit stupid in real life.

4. Are you fighting with any friends right now? Why? No. The most that’s happened was me kinda scolding Andrew for not letting me know beforehand that he submitted our thesis proposal to our prof through VIBER, which is incredibly unprofessional and I definitely let him know what I thought about it. I didn’t fight with him though.

5. Last time you were really angry? What happened? The aforementioned thesis prof letting me know we’re missing a part of our thesis on the last day for profs to submit their grades. That meant that however early we submitted a revision, she wouldn’t have been able to give it a mark anyway. That definitely pissed me off, especially considering that she was silent for two weeks and didn’t give back any comments which made us think we were good to go.

6. When you’re angry, what do you do to calm yourself down? I watch Friends or any one of my favorite YouTubers so I can have some relief. Other times, I’d force myself to sleep.

8. What’s the best revenge you ever got on someone? Never done this before.

9. Was there any hard feelings after your last break-up? On whose end was it on? There were definitely hard feelings in the beginning because she executed the breakup so poorly and I thought I didn’t deserve any of the treatment I was getting, and I was also mad that I wasted my time for that long only for her to break up with me in the end.

Sin 6: Envy 1. Is there anyone you’re jealous of? Name a person and tell us why. Envious is the better word, and I feel this way towards anybody who live with both parents. My dad’s worked overseas all my life, and as grateful as I am for his sacrifices, having a dad at home is more foreign sensation to me than the idea of having a dad who’s gone for 4-6 months a year.

4. Be honest… when someone is telling you something, do you often change the subject so it’s about you and your accomplishments instead? NEVER. That’s one of the worst things anyone can do. I feel like I used to do this when I was younger, then it just hit me one day about how tasteless it can be so ever since then I’ve let other people hype themselves up and be excited about accomplishments or new things in their life as much as they want with me, as long as they aren’t being so conceited.

5. Do you like talking about your achievements? If I’m in a group and we started sharing our achievements then yeah I’d join in. But I wouldn’t bring it up if it wasn’t already being brought up. It’s better to let the accomplishments speak for themselves.

6. Do your parents tend to brag about how well you came out? My mom is definitely more ~braggier than my dad, but she’s never come off as an asshole about it. If she was, I’d pull her aside.

7. Do you strive to be better than others? Do you think competing with others is healthy? I keep a mindset of competing with others, but I keep it internal.

8. What do you do better than most people? See the little details. I’m always surprised at how most of the people I work with just look at the big picture – like how they don’t pay attention to the red squiggle under misspelled words on a group paper (or if they do see it, they don’t do anything about it), or how they don’t seem to care about proper spacing on a Powerpoint and proceed to just dump a bunch of text on one slide. Now this is something I can brag about too, cos a lot of people are just so not detail-oriented lol.

Favorite video game?

starting off with the absolute hardest question huh? i can’t possibly name ONE favorite game of mine because i adore my favorites for many different reasons. my overall favorite video game is ffxv or botw. ffxv because it has brought me so much joy for such a long time, and because i have such a connection with the characters. botw because i was actually in the fandom when it first got announced in 2016 so i got to be there when the hype was at an all time high– and finally being able to play the game after waiting for so long was an unforgettable experience. i have more favorite games but ill talk more about them in the ‘’special place in ur heart’’ question.

First console you owned?

my first console wasn’t a console. my friend and i used to play on her nintendo dsi all the time and at one point tiny little me reeeally wanted one of my own so i saved up and got one in [redacted] when i was 7. my first actual console was a wii though, we got that around the same time.

A game that holds a special place in your heart?

ffxv and botw mean the absolute world to me, but super mario galaxy and skyward sword are very important to me too. skyward sword is the game that got me into zelda which got me into anime which got me into final fantasy etc etc etc.  super mario galaxy was the first non-mini game collection and more adventure story-ish game i played. i was so proud when i beat it for the first time and mario was my first ever ‘’fandom’’ :’) 

Favorite video game character?

bro. i cant pick just one so i’ll choose one per game : prompto, ryuji and link. they were all my comfort characters at some point and i projected like crazy onto them. this doesnt mean that i wouldnt absolutely die for noct or zelda.

i dont think theres anyone i distinctly dislike? i always talk about hating ardyn but that’s because he’s just a salty bitch. as a character i think he’s a great villain and i rly love him. i honestly always end up liking everyone somehow, maybe there is someone i just forgot about but i cant remember at all.

every character ever, but i distinctly remember the moment i fell in love with prompto sjghfkshd i was watching a playthrough of xv in december 2016 because i didnt have a ps4, and the guy got to the scene in galdin quay where the bros learn insomnia fell. i had watched about 6 hours of the game by that time and wasn’t particularly interested in the characters but not uninterested enough to drop it. i hadnt even gotten a good look at the characters faces yet, so when the camera zoomed in on prompto when he said ‘’might not be save for us here!’’ i noticed he had freckles. oh god. oh fuck. oh my god hes fucking cute. oh my god better watch 30 hours of this game now

First video game you remember playing?

wayyy before i got my own gaming systems, my then-best friend had a gamecube in her attic. i was around 5 or 6 at the time. whenever i was over at her house and we didnt know what to do, she’d sometimes propose to play ‘’mario kart’’. important is that we are dutch, and i was a literal child. i thought mario KART meant it was a fucking card game, so i always declined whenever she asked. on one fateful day, i finally gave in and was pleasantly surprised it was in fact not a card game, but a viddy game. so we played mario kart double dash. (…i had never played a video game in my life besides browser flash games and was Very Very bad)

Age you started gaming?

so i played my first video game that i didnt own when i was about 5 or 6. then i got my first supply of games at age 7/8, but i dont really consider that time to be when i started ‘’gaming’’. i’d say that was when i started mario galaxy, so i’ve been playing video games for real (ie. story adventure games with boss battles) for about 6 years now.

Hardest video game you’ve played?

this is gonna sound stupid, but the witcher 3. there’s like 7 difficulties and i played on the EASIEST and still had a hard time, i just couldnt get used to the combat. i had the same problem with assassin’s creed syndicate, but after about 10 hours i actually knew what i was doing, and ive played the witcher longer than that and still am clueless. this is kind of an unpopular opinion but i dont particularly like that game

Video game you’ve spent the most time on?

i guess i am what you’d call a casual gamer; i really like video games but during a normal school week i only game for like 2-6 hours. most of the time i dont play for like 2 weeks if im busy. gaming has kind of taken over my life not because i play so much but because i get so emotionally invested lol i’m currently on summer break and even now im not playing a lot because of exhaustion and executive dysfunction. this derailed slightly but the game i’ve played the most despite my casual gamer status is …. … …. ffxv. surprise, right? the runner up is botw, but xv wins by a landslide. 630+ hours. botw is 350. my main save in ffxv is almost 200 hours i think. damn. i really managed to keep myself entertained with that game… (………i was thinking recently, since the loading screens in xv are so long, how much of this total amount was spent watching screens. i imagine it’s several hours, especially if you fast travel a lot.)

Most embarrassing gaming moment?

many moments in my gaming experience are embarrassing, but a more recent one: i was in xv’s postgame, beating some dungeons on my new save file. i had just finished daurell caverns and hadn’t saved in about 2 hours. (uh oh) i was driving around in the regalia type d and got to the big cliff near lestallum, and remembered someone made a gif of jumping in there so i wanted to try it too. i imagined the game would just put me back on the road, like it does when you crash into something. except it didnt. i got a game over. where was my last save? 2 hours back all the way in hammerhead. yippee.

Scariest video game you’ve played?

i never play horror games, cuz for me games are supposed to be relaxing experiences. no hate towards horror games of course, they just stress me out. the only time ive played horror is when friday the 13th was for free on ps+, and my friends really wanted to play it. (theyre kinda addicted to it now. huh) they had already gotten over the initial fear of having jason chase you, but i was still terrified. i can play the game without getting scared now tho. the horror sound effects just rly freaked me out at first jhsdkghsd

Most memorable gaming moment?

playing breath of the wild for the first time, or beating it for the first time. both experiences were filled to the brim with excitement and nostalgia. seeing botw as a blank slate, a world for you to explore, having no idea where you’re going… that was pretty incredible. now i know every nook and cranny of the map, so i wish i could play it for the first time again. i was so incredibly immersed. beating it was insane. i cried for 30 minutes and the end wasnt even sad, i was just so amazed at the fact that i was really here, playing breath of the wild, it was really real. the fucking main theme in the background (which i cannot for the life of me listen to without crying) didnt help with my emotions sgkdjh

Video game character you wish you could meet in real life?

i dont care about console wars at all, but i think hardware-wise, pc is the best, because if you have a good pc you can basically do anything. i however do not, so i just play on consoles. ive never particularly liked xbox, so i only play ps4 and nintendo. not the switch though. its kinda petty, but my best friend and i really dont like the switch djghks

Gaming company you’re most loyal to?

none. i used to call myself a nintendo nerd (oh my god…. i m. gonna die) in like 2015 but since the switch came out and since i got a ps4 they kinda lost me. i still like their game series of course, but as a company i don’t care for them. the only reason i see square enix as one of ‘’my’’ gaming companies is because ffxv took up like 70% of my gaming experience, but besides final fantasy i don’t really love them too much either.

If you could only play one video game for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

atm i’m really into ffxiv because theres just so much to do, but that’s just a new, possibly temporary interest. if i had to choose, i’d say botw. maybe i’d say ffxv, but i feel like running around doing nothing in that game isnt very fun, because the world is sorta empty after completing every quest and getting to level 120. in botw, just fucking around on your horse is still really relaxing and nice. 

Do you use strategy guides?

yup. in certain games i try to avoid them but i usually end up stuck or in need of advice. i couldn’t have gotten so many p5 trophies if not for the internet lol

How often do you use cheats?

never, simply because the games i play often do not have cheats. unless im playing the sims and are in need of a motherlode, i dont use them.

Competitive or single player?

single player. im bad at video games and like to do stuff at my own pace. online multiplayer can be fun every now and then in games like mario kart 8 or splatoon, and i also like teamwork stuff like ffxiv or comrades. but ultimately, i prefer playing on my own.

i have not, i have however gone to three (3) video game concerts which is basically the same thing. 

Hardest boss fight you’ve been in?

the hardest bosses for me are usually the ones with a gimmick. you have to use a certain item or tactic to beat them or something. other hard fights for me are when you fight someone with a similar skill set. (in ffxv, this happens twice, once with the iggy-noct sparring match and once against ardyn. somehow, the final boss was easier than getting the prince to eat vegetables.) i don’t know an actual example of THE hardest boss fight ive been in though. at the time, the first bowser battle in mario galaxy was the hardest thing in the universe and i got stuck for like a month. currently, i’m having trouble with the riku-ansem fight in kh1. 

Video game you wish you could burn from your memory?

the zelda cdi games? no, i dont really know. i dont hate a game so much that i’d want to forget about it altogether, but i dont exactly love ocarina of time that much. it hasnt aged well and playing it on the gamecube for the first time in 2015 wasnt a good idea. im sure it was revolutionary at the time, but i cant handle the outdated controls gsdgksjs 

Favorite gaming series?

see, i love ffxv itself more than the entirety of the zelda series, but i dont love ff as a SERIES more than the zelda games. so if were talking series, zelda for sure. i fucking love those games and they mean a lot to me.

i often skip them because i cant pay attention, but then find that i need them anyway. so i usually do skim through them. 

Best online gaming experience?

one really good one happened a few days ago in ffxiv, some guy and i exchanged emotes for like 30 minutes and it ended with us becoming friends on psn :’) ppl dont usually emote back at me in that game so this was really wholesome and nice gjshksdj 

Worst online gaming experience?

i dont really have a worst? theyre more annoying. think try harders in gta online killing you 15 times in a row because they want to show you how good they are or something. magically, online gaming hasnt been too hard on me (mainly because i dont game online that much)

Why do you game?

it brings me joy. it’s a fun way of relaxing, while being stimulated at the same time. games have meant a great deal to me the past 6 years and i wouldnt want to lose them for the world.

Day 84

Woke up around 855 and hopped on a Webex for a Life@Apple chat just talking about I&D and about the current issues in the world surrounding aggression towards Asians. I was honestly getting ready for work and doing my normal morning stuff during the whole time but it was a good listen. I was in it all the way up until I got to work (around 955) and then I hopped off and continued listening in person. It went all the way until download and that was pretty usual. Today was the same as the other days, first 3 blocks queue then mobile support. There was like 2 appts worth talking about, 1 one of them being a couple who they got their 12 Pro Max from MacArthur like 2 days ago and she was having issues where if she checked her voicemail or someone called her it would unexpectedly restart. I verified it and after a restore it started boot looping, so obviously something was wrong. Instead of checking it in for a rear system we did a POS swap which actually ended up taking more than an hour to do cause I left them with Matt to take care of the exchange and after I came back from lunch they were STILL on it. I felt so bad for them cause it wasn’t even resolved at the end from what I heard, they still had to go back to MacArthur bc of some issue where they couldn’t exchange/sell them another one. But anyways, for lunch I had Las Palmas which I honestly had no idea what I was gonna eat for lunch today until MayMay brought up going to Las Palmas when she was going to lunch and I was getting back from my 15. So got the fried beef chimichanga and I asked for rice over the phone but they gave me beans. I didn’t find out until I sat in store and I just sucked it up and ate it. I also gave my bro a call after I was done eating which was the first time I spoke to him in a very long time. Just talked about if he could manage helping me move my bed, which may or may not work out depending when Steve will let us borrow his truck.

So we’ll see what happens, but the second appt to talk about was after my lunch and it was super interesting. It was an appt about her Face ID not working and people couldn’t hear her during phone calls. The phone was given to her by a person she did business with (yes I got an intro) and it turned out the previous owner had an appt back in October of last year that I ALSO happened to take that was for a cracked display and rear glass which she denied the repair of. The crazy part is the phone the current owner brought in WAS FIXED. There was no notation of any repairs in my system so it must have been fixed by a 3rd party and not even an AASP. So with that being said I had to swap it at out of warranty cost and not under the limited warranty she was in and she had to call that person to discuss that whole situation cause she had no idea it was even fixed. Thankfully the previous owner was chill and literally Apple Pay’d her the money to get it swapped. Customer was super cool and chill though so hey that was a cool appt that I gotta remember to write and exchange journal about. I also sold her AppleCare so she was well off. My last 15 I walked out with Megan T and Adrian and we got boba together. I told the guy a Thai Tea Boba but he gave me a chai tea which was okay cause I still like chai lol. It was Adrian’s first time and she got a passionfruit one with little fruits which she thought was pretty okay. Oh yeah on the way to boba some girl asked if she could talk about her business and we all literally ignored her and I heard her just say “oh okay” and I felt SO BAD but it was SO FUNNY. But on to the last part of my day iPhone Repair Ethan was working on a rear system which took awhile cause we were recording that too. Oh yeah I should mention we also did the recording shit again today and I only got to record that one phone that Ethan was working on. But repair was pretty chill, was working until about 630 as usual and during a down time I got another business intro cause Mac asked me to help out with a Mac exchange that Mandi was also checking in for data migrations. Did like 2 more batteries (1 7 and 1 6) to finish off the repair block but finished off the day with a last minute old couple who disabled their phone. Had to reset Apple ID’s but we got it figured out and when I broke the news of no backup the wife got heated instantly and just left. Husband was chill though, so oh well. Clocked out at 708 and then went home. Wasn’t originally gonna eat dinner but when I went into the kitchen MJ and Olivia were cooking their shrimp and rice thing with a bunch of veges and MJ offered me a beer. So after drinking it I got hungry and made 2 pepperoni hot pockets and ate the rest of the egg salad my mom gave me. I ate in the kitchen so I just chilled with them until I went into my room. Pretty much rest of the day I was watching random youtube videos (mostly Offline TV stuff from sykkuno and other random clips). Good morning and happy Sunday! My goodness I slept till 630 this morning. That’s crazy! I must’ve been really give out! Lol So the weather today is temps in the 30s with some sunshine. But I can tell you I’d really like to have some warmer temps. What about you? So is everyone excited for Sunday? What do you have planned for today? Any adventures? why can’t I ever seem to find much fun things to do right here? So I will be right around here today might run a couple errands, got to get my walking in and training for Disney! After leaving Raglan we went to Waitomo (on route to Rotorua) and quite a few of us did Haggas Honking Holes - caving/abseiling. It was hilarious and all kinds of incredible. We abseiled down a 20m drop first and then worked our way through the caves before abseiling a few more times. We were on our hands and knees quite often and at one point we had to wriggle on our stomach through a very small opening. While we were doing thst we saw a crayfish. Later in the cave we saw " cave coral." There was a bit of rock climbing and ladder climbing in spots before we drabk some water right from the cave. Oh, did I mention the glow worms?! No? Well there were glow worms. It was really neat to see them so close up. We learned about their life cycle and such. Our guides Iain and Kenny were awesome. We all had such a great time.

Getting the wetsuits on and off was a challenge though lol. Olivia, Marie, and I all helped peel the wetsuits off each other after. Great bonding experience, amiright?!

Then we collected the rest of the group and made our way to Rotorua. Once there we met with Shaloh whose family has lived in yhat spot for something crazy like 50 generations. He gave us a good history of Rotorua and some Maori history as well. We played some games like Pukana (sp?) and then we went to a marae and took part in a powhiri (welcoming ceremony) where we also did the hangi (touching of foreheads/breath of life/sharing of thoughts and such) before all going to Shaloh's back yard for a dinner of Fish & Chips. We chatted and he answered questions. His brother, Nick was there too and taught us some of the haka. It was a really lovely experience (and now I know who to go to to get a good maori inspired tattoo - not cultural appropriation people, s'all good).

We listened to a kiwi playlist which was sweet - I'll have some new songs to add to my spotify playlists now.

In Rotorua the next day I went to Hell's gate with Caroline, Doetre, Jon, and Marcus. We learned all about the geothermal activity and saw "land coral" - seeing all sorts of coral now. It's pretty wild though - most of the pools were 100 degrees Celsius (one was 120!) and all were quite acidic (one was pH level of 1!) - Mafia's dream, eh?

After the walk/tour we went in the mud baths and enjoyed a nice soak before jumping in the plunge pool and rinsing off. We all smelled like sulpher for a good 2 days after hahaha. So worth it.

In the afternoon some of us went zorbing (invented in New Zeland, basically running down hills in a giant inflatable hamster ball) with a bit of water in it. Summer (our guide) and I went in one together. We did the sidewinder (350m) course. I took my camera inside so when I'm home I'll hopefully be able to upload the video on here - it's a whole lot of limbs flying around and copious amounts of giggling. It was a blast and I highly recommend it! I would do it again in a heartbeat 💜 you have to "superman" into it and then when you get out it's like being birthed....really flattering hahah.

Then we headed to Taupo and all went out for Indian food for dinner. Marie, Olivia, and I grabbed something sweet and took some pics at the "#lovetaupo" sign at the waterfront.

Yesterday was a travel day - 5ish hours to Wellington from Taupo. Absolutely stunning views though. We pulled over to take pics of 3 mountains (tongariro, mt doom - not the pfficial name of course, and one other that was snow capped and beautiful).

In Wellington we had 2 more people join our group (Becky from Souix Lookout of all places, and a deaf man named Nad - he doesn't speak any sign language but he reads lips very well). 3 people were leaving (the bro/sis and Caroline fron switzerland). There are many trips you can do through GAdventures and this one is all of them byt people who are doing just one leg of the overall journey will join and end at different times. There's about 16-17 of us who are in it for the full 24 days.

We all had dinner next door at Blend and after we competed in drinking games against another tour that was just finishing. We won at both games we played - flip cup and the one where you try and pop a balloon between 2 people. It was so much fun. It was also Summer's birthday 🎂

Then we danced like fools (even getting up on the middle bar/table thing) to dance (and sing!!) to such golden hits as "500 miles", "YMCA", "thw Macarena" and others. Then we just broke it down on the dance floor. It was a beautifully sloppy night. Our wake up call this morning was for 545 as we had to leave at 630 to get the 8am ferry. Thank goodness for rehydrating tablets - I actually feel great today.

The ferry is about 3.5 hours long and then we have a 3 hour drive to Abel Tasman and a 30-45min water taxi to the house boat for tonight. We're in for rough weather again apparently. Not the best luck with weather on boats lol.
