“Systemic Approach (Part Two),” Avengers Unlimited (Vol. 1/2022), Infinity Comic, #64.
Writer: Mat Groom; Penciler and Inker: Caio Majado; Colorist: Pete Pantazis; Letterer: Joe Sabino
#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Avengers Unlimited#Avengers Unlimited Infinity Comic#Moon Knight comics#latest release#Moon Knight#Marc Spector#Jake Lockley#Steven Grant#Captain America#Steve Rogers#hey Mr. Groom excuse me but how did you get access to inside my head because this is pretty much exactly what I could have wanted in life#because don’t get me wrong I love Mr. MacKay’s run but one thing I’ve been missing is just Steven - Jake - and Marc interacting#(and I was hoping that the name of this arc was in reference to the Moon Knight system but I hadn’t dared hope too much)#which means there’s so much I love here#love Jake’s jacket and the acknowledgement that the people he mingles with are in no way lesser than Steven’s socialite#or Marc’s superhero ilk but rather the people who often just need some help (whether that be through Steven’s funds/business acumen#Jake’s hands-on social support#or Marc’s /very/ hands-on support method of boxing villains over the head) but could be the least likely to get it#and !!!!! an acknowledgement that the system is a strength and an invaluable asset to Moon Knight work !!!!#and that it was Khonshu’s influence that was largely the problem as opposed to the system’s neurodivergence !!!!#and an acknowledgement from Cap of all people! I WEEP#it just means so much to me: Marc getting some support both from the system and from Cap#as well as how in character this is for Cap#as some of my favorite moments of his are where he reaches out to those deemed by others too ‘unstable’ or ‘unreliable’ to ever amount to#much in the grand scheme of things and he asks them to be Avengers#recognizing what invaluable talents they posses#could the cynical say this reads like a Saturday morning psa? sure but this is an infinity comic with Cap. Enjoy it for what it is akshsksj

Marc Spector and how he spends Mother's Day
Alone. On the rooftop of his house, wine in his hand as he watches the sun go down. In Marlenes favorite suit of his, playing her favorite songs.
With the thought of his daughter he didn't even know.
He wondered if Marlene had thought of him too.
He thinks about Wendy and remembers how he failed all the important people in his life. He didn't know his daughter. The mother of his daughter hated him, and his mother was ashamed of him.
He thought about it every Mother's Day since Marlene left.
He thought about what would have happened if Khonshu had just left him alone. He could have been at peace and happy. Instead, he was still repaying his debt to his father.
But at the end of the day, he was never going to have what he wanted. He would never be satisfied.
----------
You all better give your mama's a good Mother's Day. It's hard being a mom. Moms do a lot to keep families striving, especially if they are single mother's. Happy Mother's Day, ya'll. Stay strong, you sexy, gorgeous people.

INJURY.
fandom: marvel.
character(s): moon knight, soldier.
word count: 472.
tags & warnings: pov marc spector, moon knight (2021-2023), existential dread.
summary: marc comes back to midnight mission (is. 25) after a brutal battle and gets patched up by soldier.
masterlist.
Tumblr media
Marc's at the end of his rope. He can hardly feel his arms and his legs are this close to completely giving in. He knew following 8-Ball would be a trap. He went anyway. He needed to find the new Black Spectre and 8-Ball's information was too good to be true. Sometimes, he's just gotta bite the bullet, he supposes.
However, he thinks there are enough deep lacerations and bullet holes in him now to fill a very morbid museum.
Badr may be a doctor, a damn fine one actually, but even Marc can't deny how horrendous his current state of being is. It's never been as clear as this exact moment.
The next time one of my sons dies while I am imprisoned, I cannot resurrect him.
That's what Khonshu said to Badr when he came back from the dead.
The poor man. That was only his first resurrection as a Fist of Khonshu. How many has Marc had now? Four? Six? He always says that he isn't afraid to die. He's reckless to a fault and his last death probably should've been his due. But here he is with even more chances.
"Boss?!" He hears Soldier from somewhere to his left. "What happened?!"
Marc is soon gently manhandled towards a table, not unlike how they first met. Except that time, he and Reese were treating Soldier and Marc still felt invincible.
Not so invincible after all, eh? Jake remarks with a scoff.
"Wrong side of a machine gun," Marc grumbles.
"Please tell me that wasn't a joke," Soldier pleads as he pulls out the first aid kit. "Actually, I take that back. Please tell me that was a joke."
All he can do is puff out air in some facsimile of a laugh. He sends a quiet thank you to the Midnight Mission for dropping him off with Soldier and not Reese or Greer.
Soldier keeps talking through his treatment, trying to dig for information. He's worried. That's nothing new. Yet when he thinks about all the living beings that now count on him, Marc's frozen.
Even if he dies tonight, the Midnight Mission will continue. Reese and Soldier would take over, possibly even Greer, too. But would they be able to? If Marc didn't have his duty to fulfill each night and every night following, would he have been able to?
"I'll get more bandages tonight. We're running low."
Marc hums. He turns his head to look at Soldier, focused entirely on the task at hand, and doing a fine job at it.
When Soldier finishes wrapping Marc up, he neatly puts away the first aid kit and Marc remains seated. It feels like the world has shifted on its axis once more.
Finally found that will to live, have you? Steve so helpfully notes.
"Maybe so," Marc concurs.

Make Hobie go PINK! (Halloween Special)
Halloween has arrived and everyone in HQ had this fun idea to dress up or wear some sort accessory as an excuse to dress up. "Happy Halloween!" Peter 616 said out loud being dressed as cozy big black bear holding a big bowl of candy.
"Happy Halloween!" Mayday dressed up as Merida from Pixar's Brave having a bow and arrow strap on her back. Her long wavy red hair had been perfectly curled by her mom.
"Awe, so cute!" The Spider-women came by to take one piece of candy from the bowl as they made comments about the father and daughter Spider-heroes.
Spectacular Spider-man stood with one hand on his hip, "Ohh, I see now. I get it, from the movie! Took me awhile putting together the idea."
"Hah, I thought why not make it a twist? Instead of the mom being the bear, it's the dad?" Peter shrugs.
"Not cool as me!" Ben Riley came in dressed up as Batman, "I am the Dark Knight." Trying to put on a menacing voice.
"Easy soldier." Jess appeared with her son, who's dressed as Michael from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Spider-woman dressed up as Tinker-bell.
"No, I am Batman!" Ben uses his deep voice getting way into character.
"And I'm Michelangelo!" Gerald stood in a mighty pose and uses his nunchucks to pull off his costume.
"Oh wow, you guys dress up so cool!" Gabriella appeared having to dress up as Mirabel from Encanto, she even wore fake green glasses. Her dad behind her wearing a large green cloak.
"Somebody is Bruno." Peter chuckles.
"Shhh, we don't talk about Bruno." Jess teased.
Ben sang, "No. No. No! We don't talk about Bruno!"
"We don't talk about Bruno!" Mayday, Gerald, and Gabriella sang out loud. Everyone in HQ knows the movies and sang out loud, "NO. NO. NO! We don't talk about Bruno!"
Miguel grunts having his green cloak on him, "Oh ha-ha, very funny! I only did it because Gabriella told me to be Bruno."
"Yeah. because papá is like Bruno; always in a dark room and hiding! And very sleepy lookin', too." Gabriella giggles as she twirls around to show off her pretty skirt.
"Awe, you guys are so cute!" Lupe appeared with her apprentices; Billie 1613 and Mariana 1022. Their masks were off being comfortable to show off their faces.
"Awwweee, such cuties!" The two girls behind Lupe awed.
Lupe looks at Miguel and grins widely, "Are you gonna tell me, my future, Mr. Canon?"
Lyla in her avatar pop out dressing as Peppa, "Hehehe, careful he'll go into hiding."
Miguel 928 gave a weak scowl before he saw Lupe's cat ears, "Aye, at least I dressed up."
"Nah, I'm not paying sixty dollars for a costume." Lupe laughs, then did a fake purr, "Meow. Do you like it, Miguelito?"
"Pfft, Tacky."
"Are you Catwoman, Lupe!" Gabriella asked looking at her ears.
"Maybe or a cat in general." The Spider-woman twisted her lips into a wide smile. "Its subjective."
"It's a poor excuse for a costume." Miguel mutters while he spend weeks making this Bruno costume and his daughter's costume.
"Oh Gabriella, your costume is so cute! So is May's!" Billie 1613 said happily with her hands clasp together, "I'm going to dress up as Ariel!"
"Your gonna be a princess, too!" Gabriella gasps with her eyes widen like they had sparkles in her eyes.
"Huh uh! I got this pretty blue dress for it." Billie giggles.
"I'm dressing up as Belle from Beauty and the Beast." Mariana smiles with joy.
"Oh, I wanna see it." Mayday stomp her foot on the ground, "I bet you'll look very pretty, Mariana!"
"Oh thank you, I will at the party." Mariana said happily, "Did you know Miguel 970, also said he's dressing up a character from Beauty and the Beast!"
"Oh wow, I guess the O'Haras have some weird power, because Gabriel told me, he's planning to dress up as Prince Eric." Billie said being naive.
Lupe crosses her arms then giggles, "Oh really, they both suddenly decided to be a character from a movie you two picked?"
"Yeah!" The girls were clueless.
"I can't wait to see them!" Gabriella happily bounce, "I love Belle and Ariel! They are my favorite princesses!"
Mayday said, "I wanna see the pretty blue dress." She took Billie 1613's hand trying to pull her, "Let's go see it!"
"Sorry, May. I have a lunch date with Gabriel- well, he calls it a date but I find it so silly since it's just us sitting together and talking about random stuff and eating good food." Billie 1613 explained.
Miguel 928 added, "That is a lunch date..."
"Oh no, a lunch date is when a couple go on dates and have lunch together, boss!"
"Yeah, papá. I had a lunch date with a boy from school!" Gabriella puff her chest out with confidence, "we share a juice box!"
"Oh how scandalous!" Mariana and Lupe fake gasps as Jess and Peter laughs at Miguel 928's reaction.
"Qué? Who was it?" Miguel 928 asked out loud, "Your too young para niños, Gabriella!"
"I'm not telling." Gabriella giggles with her little self hiding being Lupe's leg. "Right, Lupe. Us girls don't kiss and tell!"
"Right." Lupe saw the shock of a father figure as if his little girl no longer is staying a child.
"LUPE!"
"What? Me and Gabriella like to have evening tea time with Lyla."
"That's right." Lyla appeared in a Marilyn Monroe outfit on her avatar. "Sorry, Miguel. Gabriella made me pinky promise."
"What! Not fair, Lupe. You have to tell me."
"Nuh uh!"
Mariana said to Billie 1613, "Speaking of lunch dates. I think Miguel 970 is taking me to one, but hmm, he got all shy and grumpy about it."
"Oh no, has he been sleeping well." Billie said.
"I hope so!" The two Spider-woman talked having to ignore the two adults arguing- well, Miguel arguing.
Gabriella saw Petie and May together, "Oh wow, May is Barbie!"
The little three year old giggles with her pink Barbie roller blade outfit, "Daddy is Ken!" She hold her dad's hand.
Jess awed out loud, "Awe, how cute is little May. She's so Barbie."
"Just adorable." Peter 616 said as the adults went around to look at the little girl. May being a bashful went to hug her dad's leg.
Lupe hums, checking out Petie's tight roller blade Ken outfit, "You do realize Deadpool is gonna go crazy when he sees you and your fatty." She leans over to see Petie's butt then giggles.
"Oh god," Petie 2010 sighs, "But I wanted to match my baby. She looks so cute with this outfit."
"Oh wow, what a cute duo." They saw Miles 2020 with his triplets and Alpha dressed up as Pokemon characters. Miles wearing an Ash Ketchum outfit while his Alpha dressed up as Mega Charizard X and the triplets were dressed as up the three different types of Charizard. Mariana got her regular Charizard onesies, Aaron in a Chameleon costume, and Karl in a Mega Charizard Y onesies.
"ROAR!" Mariana 2020 pops out of her wagon stroller with her two brothers sat with her.
"Rawr!" The other two boy follow with their massive hoodie covering their faces as they try to look scary.
Jess laughs with amusement at the Omega being the only different one, "What happened, 2020? You the only one not a Pokemon."
"Wow, those outfits are so cool!" Gerald admires the triplets, especially Hobie's costumes, "You look so dope!"
"I'm always cool, lad." The Alpha ruffled the little boy's hair, "Say you got a swag fit, too."
"I wanna be Leonardo!" Aaron bounced from his spot, his upper body leaning over the edge of the stroller wagon.
Hobie 2020 chuckles, "For real, little one? You were begging to be a Pokemon." The triplets ignore him as they were busy talking to Gerald about his cool costume.
"First, I had this idea that maybe me and my mate can be trainers and our babies be starter Pokemon, but..." Miles 2020 only remembers the costume shop filled with his triplets fighting over Charmander and Charizard. Then, his mate was looking at the cool black and blue Mega Charizard being into the costume than being the trainer. "You know, you make do." Then his eyes saw the girls, "Awe, you two look so cute."
Mayday and Gabriella giggles being shy at their outfits. Miles 2020 saw Miguel 928 looking so serious in his Bruno costume that he burst out laughing, "Oh my gawd, no way. Are you seriously Bruno? Honestly, makes sense... he is a hermit."
The Omega quickly swirl around his boss to look at the outfit then saw his face, "Oh wow, even you did a good job with your makeup. Those dark circles look so real."
Lupe, Peter 616, Petie 2010 were snickering to themselves. "Like I could see the depression hitting, the exhaustion and five'o clock shadow-" Hobie 2020 stop his Omega from saying anything further while maintaining a serious expression, "Darling, he's not wearing anything." Then let out chuckle giving up his strength to hold it in.
Miguel 928 merely stare at them being unimpressed, Miles 2020 gasps, "Uh oh! I am so sorry, Miguel! You really gotta sleep."
"Yeah, take your naps!" Mariana 2020 shouted.
Mariana 1022 and Billie 1613 were looking at the triplets being so cute. They were like hatchlings from a Pokemon egg and all three are together in a nest. "Where's yo costume?" Karl asked in his choppy three old tone.
"Later, bebé. It's going to be a lot of work to put it on." Mariana 1022 cooed, as her hand gently rub Karl's round cheek.
"Best fren! Best fren, hey! Hey, best fren!" Mariana 2020 got all in Billie's face, "Where's yours?"
"Oh it's for the party. I need to do so much with my hair and makeup." She answered.
Mariana 2020 pouts with her hoodie covering her face, "Awe, I wanna see your outfit!."
"Don't worry. I promise I'll show it." Billie 1613 giggles.
"Mariana, no reason to pout, bebé." Her daddy said.
"But daddy! I see them with no costumes!" Mariana 2020 pouts with a huff.
"You want me to deal with her, luv?" Hobie 2020 asked.
"Please, bae." Miles 2020 said to his mate.
His husband picks up their daughter, "Relax, spitfire. We need to wait for the party."
"Awe!" His pup pouted.
"Oh wow, you guys went all out today!" They turn to find Pavtri dressed up as Prince Charming walking with Gwen and Hobie.
Gwen dressed up as the bride from Kill Bill had a fake sword and her yellow black jumpsuit with her hair a little teased and added a bit makeup to look like she was fighting.
Hobie wore horn headband that's nicely placed on his head, and had a fake thin devil tail. "Aye, cat woman." He grins at Lupe.
"See he gets it!" Lupe grins widely, "And you're a demon."
The punker grins widely with his arms crossed, "Always."
"Where's Miles? I thought he would be here." Gwen asked as Billie 1613 touches her fake sword.
Mariana 1022 carries Aaron, "Oh, I wonder what's his costume!"
"Probably something nerdy." Pavtri giggles.
"Oh, will he dress up as a cool anime character." Billie 1613 awe, "My brother use to dress up all the time for his anime club and it was so fun to watch him make the outfits."
"Oh that'll be fun. I wonder if he's dressing up a popular character like Howl from Howl's moving castle or Naruto." Mariana 1022 rub her chin.
"Or hopefully a Pokemon trainer!" Miles 2020 grins widely, "That way my idea will be complete."
Hobie 2020 holding his daughter, "Awe, can't handle a dragon?"
"Roar!" Their daughter roar at her daddy, "Fear me, daddy!"
"Yeah, so scary." Miles 2020 giggles at his pup, "Your just like your father." He winks at his husband, the Alpha let out a low rumble in the back of his throat with his scent seeping out of him.
"Huh oh, careful Millie. He might give you another set of triplets." Lupe chuckles.
"Hahaha, oh nonono. I'm good with these three." Miles 2020 laughs.
"Yeah, I want to be the only girl!" Mariana 2020 chimes out loud.
Gabriella said, "You don't want another sister! I always wanted another sibling."
Miguel let out a cough. "Really? Why? I like being on my own." Gerry said to Gabriella.
"I want a little brother or sister, too!" Mayday agrees with Gabriella.
"Look what you did, Lupe." Miguel said to the Spider-woman.
"What? You can give her a brother or sister, you're still... young?" She tilted her head to the side, "How old are you, again?"
Gwen said to Hobie, "What if Miles dress as an Angel? That'll be so cute."
Hobie turns into a slight baby pink, "My Sunflower as an Angel... yes, I would love to see that."
"Fingers crossed!" Pavtri said out loud.
The group were unaware of a familiar Spider-man running from up high coming down holding a three year old in his arms. "Who dat?" Petie squint his eyes up. Then everyone turns there head at the colorful Spider-man as the closer he got down dressed as Spider-Punk 138b.
He stood as soon he began talking, everyone knew it was Miles. "I'm Hobie Brown, when I’m not playing shows, antagonizing fascists, staging unpermitted political action slash performing art pieces." He did a pose while held a handcrafted thrifted electric guitar similar to Hobie's, "OR, having a laugh at the pub with the mandem. I'm not a role model, I was briefly a runway model. I hate the AM, I hate the PM, I hate labels!" He remove his Spider-Punk mask to show off his own wicks made from a synthetic wig with visible colorful lines and yarn to give that voluminous look. His face painted more Punk aesthetic with black lipstick, and wearing fake piercings similar to his boyfriend.
"Oh my gawd, that's such a cool Hobie costume!" Pavtri and Billie 1613 gasps with their eyes gleaming at Miles' costume. He got every part of the outfit to the tee.
Gwen said, "Wow, no wonder you were asking me about battle jackets."
"Whoa, is your guitar really!" Mayday went up with the other children to check out the outfit. Her hand touched the guitar.
"Yup!" Miles plays a weak string.
Mariana 1022 giggles, "Sweet, I like the hair. maybe you should do wicks more often."
"Oh yeah!" Miles grins widely, as he posed.
Petie said, "The suit and looks is spot on!"
"Yeah, no kidding. I thought it was another variant." Peter added.
"I really like the patch work on those jeans." Jess eyes on Miles' black jeans, she could tell he put a lot a thought on the design.
"He looks like other da-da!" Mariana 2020 said out loud to his daddy, "Right, daddy."
Miles 2020 giggles, "Yes, he does!"
Miles grins widely, "You know, I thought I try something new." His doe eyes glances at Hobie.
Everyone else saw Hobie 138b turning vivid bright pink. Hobie 2020 chuckles, "Tongue twisted, eh?" He patted his variant's back, "Heh, I would be too if my Sunflower dressed up as me." He looks back at his mate with a puppy pout.
Miles 2020 giggles, "Oh really? Maybe next year."
"I wanna dress up as da-da, daddy." Karl climbs on his daddy, being carried.
"I will keep that in mind, mi vida." Miles 2020 kisses his son on the cheek.
Hobie finally got up to look at his Sunflower, "You look Ace, luv. You got every detailed!" He saw the battle vest, "Oi, are you sure you didn't take my clothes."
"No, bae. I made everything. See!" Miles shows the brand of the battle vest, "It's a different brand."
"So, that means I should be you then... hmm perhaps I can steal me a Spider-man cost-" Then a three year old Spider-man pops up from Miles back, "No! It's me!" Billie's voice spoke from the tiny Spider-man.
"Hahaha, sorry, bae. Billie is me for Halloween." He had a baby strap underneath his battle jacket, he got Billie off his back.
The little girl dressed up in Miles' black and red suit wearing her mask and web shooter, "Hi, I'm Miles Morales! I am Spider-man and-and I'ma do my own thing!" She proudly puff her chest out, then shoot a dart from her web shooter at Hobie. "Hehe!"
"Awe, she looks so cute, Miles!" Jess quickly went over to look at Billy, "She's so adorable as a tiny Spider-man? Spider-woman?"
"I'm Miles!" Billie 1610 said out loud.
Hobie chuckles, "Heh, not follow gender norms. I like it."
"Ohhh how cute! Look at her tiny web-shooter!" Pavtri gawks.
Billie 1613 and Mariana 1022 cooed at Billie, "Awe, Billie. Your so cute as Miles."
"Hehehe! I'ma do my own thing." She saids trying to be her big brother. She didn't want to remove her mask.
Miles mimic Hobie's voice, "Sunflower, you're doing a fantastic job!" Gwen and Pavtri giggles at the perfect cockney accent.
"Huh uh!" Billie nodded.
Hobie picks up his Miles, "Hobie!" Miles being bashful.
"You're too precious to me, luv." He happily kisses Miles' cheek.
"No, Hobie! My big brother!" Billie huffs out loud.
"Well, now I know the party is going to quite ecstatic." Miguel said to the adults.
Peter laughs, "Yeah, especially when you got those two together."
"HOBIE!" Miles saw how the punker runs around having the children chasing them.
"No fair, Hobie! I wanna touch Miles' guitar!" Gabriella said out loud.
"I wanna hold Billie!" Mayday said out loud.
Gerry preach, "I wanna play with Miles."
Hobie merely plays around while carrying his lover and Billie. "Whoa-whoa!" Billie getting dizzy. "I wanna do my own THING!"
"Me too! Me too!" Mariana 2020 shouted out loud.
"Sorry, lads. I'm not sharing him." Hobie chuckles at the children.

Random Kang the Conqueror facts before the Ant Man movie. Kang the Conqueror aka Nathaniel Richards, Iron Lad, Rama-Tut(Egyptian god, moon knight related), Scarlet Centurion and Immortus (older Kang)
Kang the Conqueror is originally from the 31st century(earth-6311) while Ant Man is earth 616, so time traveller(all of u probably know that alr)
He already appeared in Loki, but the one in Loki is actually, as canon as comics can be. Immortus, Immortus is the older version of Kang, who has grown old of conquering.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*probably* the descendant of Reed Richards, that noodle dude at Doctor Strange played by John Krasinki himself, Fantastic four member that has no bones, Mr Fantastic.
Already appeared in Fantastic four 2005, DSMOM and the 2015 one (let's be honest, no one watches the 2015 one, it was more flop than the 2005 one and it's cause I actually liked the 2005 one)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reed is also said to be super super smart, so yeah. You guessed it. It's in the genes.
BUT
Kang is also rumored to have some sort of connection with Mr.Doom, haven't appeared on any movies yet but in the comics, he is the main antagonist of the Avengers and Fantastic Four.
Tumblr media
And since Kang is from way back at the future, his idol as a kid, obviously, is Mr Tony Stark. And as you all know, Tony Stark found the multiverse thing and Kang just continued his legacy(yes, he is that smart!)
Tumblr media
It's gone to the point where his other alias is actually Iron Lad. He has the role of iron man in the Young Avengers comic.
Tumblr media
So in general, Kang's a real smart guy, and this movie IS about Ant Man, our lovely Scott Lang. But multiverse is literally invented by Kang(found by Tony), and that's why he was at the statue at the Loki series, Immortus's(old Kang) masters are the Time Keepers themselves.
Tumblr media
There is so so much to unfold, I couldn't possibly fit it all in one blog. Idk if I'll do more but I think I've posted all the important things(and some bonus stuff as well) needed for the Ant Man.
Hopefully this covers our Kang knowledge before Ant Man, so we can be prepared!
(if you guys need any breakdowns for the other Kang variants, feel free to message me or comment. I've got knowledge now idk what to do with it)

I firmly believe that the best thing the MCU could do right now is release a statement and a "guide" to content. Yes, I understand that everything's interconnected.
And yes, I think it's insanely fun to watch all different kinds of movies/shows and then watch them slowly link and come together.
However...
It's getting to be too much for the vast majority of fans. The content amount is overwhelming, and there's been too many niche shows that are very stylistic and haven't been received with the overwhelming amount of goodwill that other projects have.
So, I have a proposal for Mr. Kevin Feige:
Give up on the "everyone, watch everything!" pitch.
Then, find a way to market and brand them just a little more like comics.
Tell fans what projects will form a "story arc". Since we aren't getting as many trilogies about the same titular hero as rapidly in the past, and more and more side characters are weaving in and out of their own and others' projects. Right now, we have far too many projects that no one understands "why now?" and that's putting a damper on everything. So, Mr. Feige, a little more open and up front. Of course, there will be cameos and such outside these: just focus the main narrative flow into easier-to-digest chunks. Tell us where a show like "Moon-Knight" or "She-Hulk" is headed so we can have a reason to watch it! Don't just show us a bunch of cameos of kids - tell us we're getting a "Young Avengers" team-up in "____" movie and give us hints at what projects will lead into it. If you don't find an arc compelling, that's fine! There can be a few different ones going on at once and they can all culminate in "crossover" Avengers (or, potentially, other team) movies - people who watched all the arcs will get the most enjoyment, but by all means people who have just seen one or two will be satisfied.
Do "one-shot" style projects. Werewolf by Night seems like it might be kicking this off, and I think it would be a really fun addition to the MCU.
Don't make everything 616-canon. "Spider-Man: Freshman Year" looks like a fun, exciting project but its marketing has been atrocious so far. It's canon, but an AU, but also canon?

Throughout my adventures through the multiverse, I've had missions with Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in the 616 universe. Typically I am pulled to whatever universe needs me, so Sam and I had a mission in London England. I met Steven when he worked at the British Museum, and had only known him for a short time before the events of the series. I ended up getting wrapped up into the whole thing with Harrow and Ammit, and before I knew it, I was friends and fighting alongside Mr Knight and Moon Knight respectively. For a while, Steven was the alter I could open up with and confide in the most because of his personality similar to mine and he was just so hard not to like.
After making a deal with both the sun god Ra and Khonshu, I became the Avatar for one at a time. Therefore my superhero name became Eclipse. Steven let me crash at the Moon systems' apartment anytime I wanted, and I became a sister to the entire system, becoming close with all three of them. Steven was the first out of the three I've met, and I love him dearly.

Nomination Clarifications #4
Sign-ups should be opening in about 10 hours, but we still have 12 clarifications we need information for. If you nominated the fandom Mr. Malcolm's List, can you clarify if you mean the novel, the 2022 film, the 2019 short film or potentially the podcast script reading. If we don't hear back about this we'll process this as Mr. Malcolm's List - All Media Types. Also for the ship Selina Dalton/Jeremiah Dalton/Henry Ossory/Lord Cassidy, did you mean to write Jeremiah Malcolm rather than Dalton? We can't find a character of Jeremiah Dalton, only Jeremiah Malcolm, so if we don't hear back we'll assume that was an error. If you nominated the fandom ユリ熊嵐 | Yuri Kuma Arashi, can you clarify if you meant the anime or the manga since they look to have the same characters but very different plotlines. If we don't hear back about this we'll be processing this as ユリ熊嵐 | Yuri Kuma Arashi (Anime). If you nominated Geralt z Rivii | Geralt of Rivia/Yennefer z Vengerbergu | Yennefer of Vengerberg under Wiedźmin | The Witcher - All Media Types,  this is only 2 people and we don't allow 2 people ships. If you meant to write in a third person, please let us know who and also whether the  ship is for The Witcher books, games or TV. If you nominated Bewildered Older Brother/Older Brother's BF/Horny Younger Brother Wishing to be in a Sandwich (OW) under Original Work, please can you spell out what BF should mean. If we don't hear back we'll assume it means boyfriend and approve with that added. If you nominated Beranardi al Auriga/Mandala Flynn/Hikaru Sulu under Star Trek: Classic Timeline, can you confirm if this  is meant to be Bernardi al Auriga from the The Entropy Effect novel. If we don't hear back we'll assume it was a typo and add it with Bernardi al Auriga. If you nominated Marlene Alraune/Layla El-Faouly/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley/Marc Spector under Moon Knight (TV),  can you confirm whether Marlene Alraune actually appears in the TV   show? From what we could tell looking online it looked like she wasn't.  If we don't hear back this will be added under Crossover - fandom instead. If you nominated Zakia Asalache/Capheus Onyango/Jela/Jela's wife under Sense8, can you confirm if you mean the specific canon character of Eleana for Jela's wife or Jela's wife as a general concept? If we don't hear back we'll assume it means general concept and approve as is.   If you nominated Logan/Ororo Munroe/Kurt Wagner under X-Men (Comicverse), please can you let us know if you meant Marvel 616 or another comics universe. If we don't hear back we will add this under Marvel 616. If we don't hear back about the following nominations they will be rejected: If you nominated Raffi Musiker/Seven of Nine/B'Elanna Torres AU under Star Trek: Classic Timeline, can you clarify what you mean by B'Elanna Torres AU. If it's an AU version of her from a particular episode the episode name added would help identify who you mean. If you nominated Raffi Musiker/Seven of Nine/B'Elanna Torres freeform under Star Trek: Classic Timeline, can you clarify what you mean by freeform, is this referring to the AO3 tag as a freeform tag or something else? If you just meant Raffi Musiker/Seven of Nine/B'Elanna Torres, that tag is already in the tagset. If you nominated Gong Jun | Simon/Yu Xiang/Zhang Zhehan under 山河令 | Word of Honor (TV 2021) RPF, we weren't 100% sure if we'd found the right actor for Yu Xiang, is Yun_Xiang  who plays Bi Xingming in Word of Honor the correct person? If we don't  hear back this nomination will be rejected since we need to be able to find details on the people in RPF ships so that we can confirm their ages are 18+. If you have any questions, please feel free to   leave a comment on this post. You can also send an e-mail to [email protected]. Be honest, how do you feel about Layla?

Tumblr media
Over in 616, Mr. Knight has a pinched face of exasperated fondness (and regret).
Tumblr media
Marc's still for a moment, brows furrowed. It's not every day a stranger asks how he feels. "Layla. Is my wife." Not yours, you insolent little prick. Despite this jarhead macho man moment, his brown eyes are light, soft, like a man who feels the warmth of the sun after a cold night. He will fight past his last breath for her and their family.
Before they met, he knew she was beautiful. He didn't expect himself to fall in love with her. Not like this. He didn't think he had the capacity, for one. Layla. Met and married in Cairo, unable to take his eyes off of her for too long, while Zaghrouta trilled around them. Light shining off of her sword wings. Her curls, her dimples, how they fit together.
Tumblr media
"She's seen me on my best days and my worst days." He's seen her in the heights of joy and depths of despair. "We've gone through so much it would make your head explode." She's stronger than him, he will always think - in compassion, in emotional resilience, in sheer goodness. She loved Steven and Jake. She makes him try to be a better man.

After a year of anticipation, the second Hellfire Gala finally rolled out. Set on Mykines Island to promote unity between the mutants and those who use Krakoan medicines, the Gala was meant to foster unity and prosperity. The recent revelations from Scott Summers about mutant resurrections were hard to dance around, however, and some drama did ensue before the newest iteration of the X-Men were announced.
THIS IS THE OFFICIAL CHAT LOG COVERAGE OF THE IC
EMMA FROST/WHITE QUEEN (616): It’s hard to capture lightening in a bottle; once is magic, twice is nearly unheard of. The Hellfire Gala had been just that: magic. It had been, in the words of Emma herself, resplendent. Everyone had come together for a night of bubbling drinks, entertainment and general merriment. There had been a murder, but alas. Not every event can be perfect. That however, was exactly what Emma was striving towards this year. Perfection could be achieved by those who were strong enough to attain it. Emma, despite all her flaws, considered herself to be of that calibre. Like the year before, she stood on Mykines Island and watched the crowd as they began to filter in. There was no need to have the guests wear the petals as the Island wasn’t technically on Krakoa. Instead, puffins waddled down the beach and joined Emma in her observation. She waited until a large amount had entered the Sentinel before descending towards the party. Welcome, everyone. Her telepathy rang out in the minds of all attending. This year, we’ve also invited the humans whose lives have been made better from the gift of Krakoan medicine. Of course, she paused. The news that Krakoa has created a ‘safety net’ for ourselves to keep from... falling has been the topic of much discussion. However, we’ll not be discussing that tonight at the Hellfire Gala. The X-Men have saved our lives over the past year, and tonight a new team will be asked to serve by vote. Now please, eat, drink and make new friends. For those of you with secret identities, we respect your boundaries and encourage you to conceal your faces. Welcome, everyone, to the Hellfire Gala.”
JEAN GREY (616): Emma had, admittedly, done a great job as always. The telepath wasn’t sure how last year could be topped, but this Gala was shaping up to do just that. Jean had arrived early alongside Scott. The two were both on the ballot for reelection to the X-Men, and Jean knew how important it was to her husband to be reelected. She wanted it as well, of course, but she was trying to temper expectations. She could still help Krakoa even if she didn’t serve on the team. That was an issue for the end of the night, however. Jean adjusted her green train before she looked to Scott, taking in the sharp lines of his face where they extended from underneath his visor. He was handsome; most would be remiss if they tried to deny that. That had never been what drew him to her, however. He was genuinely her partner, and she offered him a smile. “Night’s young, but it looks like it’s going great so far. I heard Jon Hamm’s coming.”
STEVEN GRANT/MR. KNIGHT (MCU): It was his big first, real date with Layla, and Steven was beyond nervous. Getting into the Gala had been less difficult than he originally thought, which was a relief. Then again, the invitation did have his name on it, so there wasn't really any issues there. And it had actually been Marc's idea that Steven take Layla as a plus one and officially call it a date. As stubborn as his other alter was about everything when it came to Layla, he seemed to genuinely believe in Steven's ability to not muff things up. And even if it was hard, Steven could tell that Marc was making a real effort to be supportive of his pursuits with Layla. He was still lingering around, but it was all on Steven tonight and he really wanted to make a good impression. Their white suit was definitely a statement, but it only felt right. Marc insisted that they skip the tie, so it was a more toned down look with a golden pocket mirror hanging on their side should Steven need a wingman. But he had this. "You look lovely, you know. I can't remember if I mentioned it already, but I'll gladly say it again."
RACHEL SUMMERS/ASKANI (616): Rachel was standing atop the large staircase in the corner, nursing a drink in her hand as she overlooked everyone entering the Gala. It seemed like a terrible idea, to still throw a party like this after her father had gone and leaked the resurrection protocols, but so far no one seemed to be causing any kinds of scenes. She still couldn't help but to scan the minds of the guests as she stood there and focused, not even noticing as Betsy came up behind her.
MILES MORALES/SPIDER-MAN (1610): The mask felt like a little much, but it was important that Miles still keep his identity under wraps, even if this party was full of other heroes and the likes. It would be a little questionable for Miles Morales to be there, but Spider-man was understandable. So Spider-man it was as he lifted the bottom of his black mask to pop a cocktail shrimp into his mouth. Lana was by his side, looking absolutely gorgeous. He still wasn't really sure what they were calling themselves at this point, but it was safe to say that they were something. And something was okay, as long as he was with her. "Do you want a shrimp?"
CASSIE LANG (MCU): Cassie entered into the ballroom alongside Hope and Scott, the sight taking her by complete surprise as her mouth fell open and she grinned. She knew it was a pretty big party, but seeing all of these people and heroes here in one place was a whole different thing. As the telepathic message was relayed, she froze and glanced over towards Hope and Scott. "That was in your heads too, right? I'm not crazy?"
CLEA STRANGE/SORCERER SUPREME (616): Her presence was a contested one. Clea knew that she was walking a very fine line and that her invitation had almost been revoked. People weren’t thrilled with her actions, but she was resolute. Stephen Strange deserved to be resurrected and the mutants were now standing in the way of that. The portal brought her and Stephen to Mykines Island, and she took in the festivities through heavily made up eyes. “You don’t need to hover, Stephen.” Clea grabbed her skirts and pulled the purple fabric to the side so she could walk easier. “I’m not going to do anything uncouth.” Not yet, at least.
SCOTT SUMMERS/CYCLOPS (616): "Who the hell is Jon Hamm?" Scott is turned away from her, smiling at passing guests. Some cast weary glances at him, while others return the amicable affection. "Wait," he shifts, red gaze swinging to the fiery red of Jean's hair down to her heart shaped face. "The actor? Seems a little out of place."
BUCKY BARNES/WINTER SOLIDER (MCU): It had been a pretty heavy insistence that Bucky and Yelena attend the Hellfire Gala at each other's side, despite his many protests. But Valentina whipped out the contract and seemed to know exactly what to say to get him to go anyways, and so there he was. Yelena's arm wrapped around his metal extremity as they stepped into the room and he surveyed their surroundings. With the other Thunderbolts team making a pretty bold marketing statement, Valentina seemed to deem it fit that she put some statements out of her own. He felt like a show dog, and the crowd was definitely not his scene, but something about Yelena's presence made it slightly better as he quickly grabbed a drink that was being passed around on a platter across from them. Not that it would do much, but he could at least pretend. "What are we supposed to do here exactly?"
ELSA BLOODSTONE (MCU): There were knives on her shoes. They looked ornamental, but they did detach if need be. Tiny, tiny little knives that were wicked sharp. Elsa had another holstered on her thigh, of course, buried underneath black and gold fabric. “Mutants can smell your fear, you know.” She mused to Jack, glancing over at her date for the evening. “And some of them do bite. Please, be careful.”
SCOTT LANG/ANT-MAN (MCU): Scott continued to fidget with the buttons on his suit jacket as the trio entered the ballroom, only stopping after the telepathic announcement and his daughter’s own question that followed. The woman’s voice still seemed to ring in his ears, and Scott blinked a few times before turning to Cassie with a slight grimace and a bemused grin, “Yeah — if only I could get your attention sometimes that way, peanut.”
STEPHEN STRANGE/DOCTOR STRANGE (MCU): Tonight was the night. The Gala was actually here, and Stephen couldn't help but to be by Clea's side as the two made their way to Mykines Island. They both definitely looked the part, but that was the furthest thing from his mind. He was on edge, there was no denying that. It felt like at any moment she would snap, and it would be his fault if things got out of hand. The mutants responsible deserved to have a talking to from her, there was no denying that, but there was little room for reasonable confrontation before it would escalate. Which it would. "I think you and I both know thats a lie. And besides, I'm on your side. I told you that."
PETER QUILL/STAR-LORD (MCU): The moment he entered, Quill was already making a beeline for the bar. He was only here out of a moral obligation— and the fact that Nebula might’ve actually murdered him if he’d refused to show his face at an event like this. Gamora was attending as well, and Peter was determined to stay as far away from her as possible, at all times. That, or drink enough liquor to blur his vision enough that he might not recognize her if she stood a foot away. Neither option sounded like a particularly pleasant night, but he wasn’t in a particularly pleasant mood. He sipped on a whiskey sour and tried valiantly to hide the growing frown on his face.
JACK RUSSELL/WEREWOLF BY NIGHT (MCU): Now that they had actually stepped foot into the event, Jack suddenly felt like this was a terrible idea. It had been Elsa's pushing that he go as her plus one that made him go, but he felt so out of place. He was wearing something from Ulysses' closet that she'd picked out and while it was very elegant, it was a little much. Elsa seemed to get a kick out of the giant fur shawl that he was wearing, but it was just very itchy. And the full moon had only been a couple days ago, so he was still pretty worn out from that. And she seemed to sense the energy as she commented on his fear, and he couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle. "I'm not scared. Well, maybe a little. But it's fine. I'm fine. Do I really have to wear this fur all night?"
CASSIE LANG (MCU): "Hey! You get my attention just fine." Cassie laughed as she nudged her father, although she knew he was absolutely right. Her head could be up in the clouds a lot of the time, especially with her most recent project she'd been working on. It was gonna be a surprise, but she was eager to show her dad, Hope, Hank, and Janet once she was finished. "This is so nice, though. I thought the dress would be too much but suddenly I feel very underdressed.."
JENNIFER WALTERS/SHE-HULK (MCU): It was quite a statement to be over a foot taller than your date. As much as she wanted to attend as Jen, the Hulk in question knew that it was a She-Hulk kind of event. It was because of this that she loomed over Matt -- who was there as himself and not Daredevil -- in her brand new Luke Jacobson dress. “I was wondering when we were getting X-Men crossover,” she mused aloud to the reader before looking to Matt. “I’m pretty sure the only way I’m getting through this is with a drink.” Or many, considering her Hulk physique. “Do you want one?”
CLINT BARTON/HAWKEYE (616): Clint was throwing back his second drink of the night, which had to be a record considering this thing started about ten minutes ago. But there was a lot of pressure from Mayor Cage to be a good representation for the Thunderbolts, but it was all starting to be too much for him. He was never the PR guy, or really anyone's first choice when it came to media representation. Usually Tony or Steve handled all of that stuff, but this was his own team and there was a lot riding on their success. Getting wasted probably wasn't the smartest option, but he was hoping it'd help loosen him up. Already ordering a third, he spotted Bobbi a couple seats down from him and signaled to the bartender to add one for her. "Funny seeing you here." His words were already slurring together slightly, which was the goal.
JEAN GREY (MCU): “Who is -- Scott, Jon Hamm.” Jean emphasized. “As in my, you know..” Celebrity cheat, she finished telepathically. “Emma’s an old friend, apparently.” It was easier to talk celebrities than address the resurrection sized elephant in the room. “Who isn’t Emma friends with?”
MATT MURDOCK/DAREDEVIL (MCU): "What?" Matt thought that Jen had said something else, but he quickly dismissed it and figured that it was just confusion from all of the noise in the room, which was a lot. It was a little overwhelming, but he was trying to just focus on Jennifer's presence. He normally would have linked his arm through hers, but she was She-Hulk and that was a little difficult with the height difference. Not that he minded. Maybe that would have made a lot of men feel emasculated, but that was truly the least of Matt's concern. He liked Jen no matter who she was. "Yes, a drink sounds amazing. I'll have whatever you're having."
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): "Oh right your celebrity cheat." He nods and slips a hand around the back of her arm, leading her silently through the milling bodies. "Want to know who mine is? Bet you'll never be able to guess." He's leaning over the bartop slightly, watching as the bartender makes his old fashioned with a barrel aged bourbon and Jean's negroni sbagliato.
ERIK LEHNSHERR/MAGNETO (616): It was going to be a good night. That was something he kept telling himself and it was something he was determined to make true— Erik was not fond of repeated tragedies. That is why he asked Wanda to accompany him tonight. As a call-back to last year's events, and as a show of strength to both his daughter and the rest of the world. After the beginning announcements were made and the event was underway, Erik took in a deep breath and turned to Wanda next to him. "It has been quite the year." He held out a bent elbow to her, as an offer for her to take it. "It's strange— right now, the only things I can think to say are quite cliche. But I am glad you are here with me."
MEGGAN PUCEANU BRADDOCK/GLORIANA (616): “No, darling. I’m fine.” Meggan politely waved off the drink that was being offered to her. “I think some seltzer would suffice.” Her wings fluttered slightly. It was nice to have them out on display even though she had to maneuver carefully to stop herself from bumping into anyone. “But please, do enjoy yourself.”
GABBY KINNEY/SCOUT (616): Gabby was absolutely thrilled to actually be able to attend this Gala without getting murdered before ever stepping foot in the building. She was fully dressed up, donning yellow and black arm sleeves and purple googles and living her best life as she used her bone claw to pick up a shrimp. She'd seen Laura do it once, so she figured she'd try. But then the shrimp fell off and she tried again, only to nearly knock down the entire platter of cocktail shrimps as she stumbled to keep the tray upright.
BRIAN BRADDOCK/CAPTAIN AVALON (616): "Turning down a drink? It's not like my fairy queen to turn down a glass of bubbles. Are you feeling alright, my love?" Brian teased, but he was leaving it at that as he ordered a seltzer for his wife and a scotch on the rocks for himself. The Gala was flourishing, and Brian was genuinely just happy to be there with her, even if she didn't want to drink. If anything, it just sparked a little concern.
SCOTT LANG (MCU): The outfits being paraded about were certainly extravagant for lack of better terms, but this was the best Scott could do with their budget. They weren’t exactly working with Emma Frost money, but they had made it work, and Cassie seemed genuinely happy with her outfit. Everyone else just looked kinda…goofy. Scott shrugged, turning back to his daughter with a proud smile, “I think you look beautiful, Cassie.”
JEAN GREY (616): Relenting to his touch, Jean moved alongside Scott towards the bar. “Emma Frost?” She teased. Once her drink arrived, she took it with a smile. “With a splash of prosecco?”
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): "Hilarious." He says dryly, though a smile shadows his lips. At her question, the bartender crouched down and emerged with a small bottle of prosecco, uncorking it for her and adding a splash as a topper. "I was actually going to say Margot Robbie."
PETER PARKER/SPIDER-MAN (MCU): Peter shook himself off before he and MJ entered the room, looking more like a high school basketball player about to graduate from bench status, than a world famous superhero invited to a black-tie gala. The nerves were too present, but there was alcohol here, and the promise of relief from said nerves was — in itself, a relief. Hooking their arms together, he led MJ through the crowd already wildly uncomfortable - and somewhat itchy - in the outfit he’d been so graciously gifted by Janet Van Dyne.
LOGAN HOWLETT/WOLVERINE (616): Logan had been nearby when Gabby almost caused a cascading food disaster. He watched as she did what she could to prevent it, and then without a word he walked over and skewered a shrimp on each of his three claws with ease. There was the smallest hint of a smirk on his face when he looked at her and took a bit of one.
ALEX SUMMERS/HAVOK (616): Alex had arrived alone, opting to meet Lorna there instead of travel together. He’d needed some time to think, and exercise his favorite past time- people watching. He leaned against the bar, casually sipping a vodka soda, nodding and smiling at the various party guests that acknowledged his existence as they strolled by.
GABBY KINNEY (616): As Logan effortlessly skewered the three shrimp on his claws, Gabby just let out a huff as she picked one up with just her hand and popped it into her mouth. "Show off." She mumbled, mouth still completely full as she crossed her arms and looked around. "Are you on security detail tonight?"
JEAN GREY (616): “Your wife is funny.” Jean nodded at the bartender in thanks. She caught the eye of a politician; his face twisted to almost a sneer. Jean maintained her composure and sipped her drink. There was no use in indulging these people. “Margot Robbie? I can’t fault you there. That’s a good one. Maybe Emma will invite her next year.”
REMY LEBEAU/GAMBIT (616): "Do y' think it's too much?" Remy says to the person next to him, skirting a hand down his bare chest, framed by a shirt with an open cut that reveals everything from the bottom of his next to the top of his belt. "I don' think it's too much."
PETER QUILL (MCU): Quill blinked, whiskey glass obscuring most of his expression as he peered around it at the other man’s outfit. After a moment, ice cubes thunked against his teeth and he set the glass down, signaling to the bartender with a nod and a grateful smile for another. “It’s—- it’s certainly something, dude.”
DAIMON HELLSTROM (616): Daimon cared not for punctuality when it came for parties. No real party begins until the devil arrives after all. Was he here to be an attention whore and drink far too much? Yes. But he was also here to see about getting his dear old friend Strange back into a body. A Pentagram appeared at one of the gates into Krakoa as a gate way of flames opened to hell. One would expect the screams of the damned to be filling the air but instead the chanting of his imps and demons going "Hellstrom" over and over again filled the arid sulfuric air instead. They carried and waved his crimson cloak as he stepped through the portal. In a burst of flame his cloak burned away and was left in his scantily clad glory, with the goat skull center piece at his groin. "Well well well. It's nice to finally see this island with my own two eyes."
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): "Are you saying Emma invited Jon Hamm?" Speaking of, Scott scans the room, looking through the thick crowd for a sight of her. "The galas are all the same, every year." He states. "Even with everything that's happened."
REMY LEBEAU (616): When the new glass of whisky is dropped, Remy swipes it, bringing the bitter liquid to his lips. "Just tryin' to grab someone's attention is all. It's certainly attention grabbin'."
JEAN GREY (616): “Emma and Jon go way back, apparently. She calls him Jonathan.” It was ridiculous in a way that only Emma could be. Jean had learned first to tolerate Emma’s antics and later to view them with affection. Her voice dropped. “You need to talk to her, Scott. You know she’s upset and she has a right to be.”
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): "Wasn't he the one where it came out that he ate people?" He sips at his old fashioned, relishing in the bitter-sweet taste. "I'd rather not discuss this right now. Of course she has a right to be, but that doesn't change that I made the right choice."
LOGAN HOWLETT (616): "Yup." He replied through a small mouthful of shrimp, his claws now empty. "But lucky for you, I get to hang out here. With you. So I can show off." His tone was light as he crossed his arms. "So far you are the only one causing problems."
PETER QUILL (MCU): Quill paused, mouth agape for a moment in mild annoyance as Remy swiped his drink; but he caught the bartender’s eye once more and the remainder of the whiskey bottle was quietly slid into Quill’s grasp. He took a long, slow sip of it before responding, “I certainly wouldn’t argue with that.”
JEAN GREY (616): “I don’t think so? I think that’s Armie Hammer.” Not that Jean had time to keep up on celebrity updates. Lorna was the one who had brought the gossip into the Treehouse. “I know, I know. But we don’t always get what we want, do we?” She switched to telepathy. You owe her that much.
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): He sighed into his drink, the cape around his shoulders bunching from the movement. "That's what I said to her."
JEAN GREY (616): Finishing her drink, Jean sent the drink down on the bar and signaled for another. She needed to stay sharp for the vote, but there was no problem with indulging a little. “You’re difficult. I love you, but you are.”
NOH-VARR/MARVEL BOY (200080): Noh sipped his Sazerac as he nodded to the music playing. He would have much preferred if he were the one selecting the auditory entertainment for the evening but this would do. "Never imagined an occasion like tonight would go so civilly. It's a bit disappointing honestly."
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): "Some would argue the difficulty is how the X-men has survived for so long. You should know by now to trust my instincts."
JIMMY HUDSON/POSION (1610): He scratched at the collar of his shirt. He hated dressing up and looking all stuffy like. There was a reason he only owned three t shirts and two pairs of pants. He liked things simple, comfortable, and predictable. This was none of the above. He was sipping overly fancy beer and hiding in the back when he caught a familiar scent on the air. Was that Daisy? He tracked her scent until he found her. Spotting her he grabbed another overly fancy glass of piss water and headed her way. "Daisy." He called out approaching as he offered her a nod. "Didn't think I'd be seein' you so soon. Here, I owe you one for lunch." He said offering a smirk as he handed her a drink. "Not sure if it's what you like, but it's what I got." He said knowing he'd get her something else if she wanted.
PETER PARKER/SPIDER-MAN (MCU): "I kind of forgot there was going to be food at this thing. Do I just keep the mask above my mouth the entire time? That seems weird." Peter pulled lightly at the bottom of his mask so that it sat flat against his skin. It felt a bit ridiculous to be here, and he knew he stuck out like a sore thumb. Everyone around him wore elegant outfits and striking colors and lots of fancy stuff he couldn't put a label to— and here he was in a pretty basic suit with his mask to top it off. Standing next to Felicia made it even worse. But he was still grateful she was here.
DAISY JOHNSON/QUAKE (AOS): Daisy was mostly keeping to herself in the corner, keeping a close eye on the interactions around her as she eavesdropped. She wasn't technically here on official business with S.H.I.E.L.D., but the Gala was pretty high up on their radar considering all of the news that dropped, and she felt like she should at least go back to work with some kind of information if she was gonna go. Technically she was there with Crystal representing the Inhumans, but she lost sight of her redheaded friend about thirty minutes ago. When she heard a voice, her purple and blonde locks flipped over her shoulder when she saw the man from the other day. Jimmy, if she remembered. There was a slight smirk tugging at her lips as she took the drink. "I don't think its technically repayment if you grabbed it from one of the free drink trays, but thanks. I needed one."
MICHELLE JONES-WATSON (MCU): Her attendance may have seemed odd to some. Michelle Jones-Watson was, by all means, an average college student who went to M.I.T. and minded her business. She’d have no connection to the mutants if her aunt hadn’t become dependent on Krakoan petals to keep her dementia at bay. Anna had no kids, and MJ had become an ambassador of sorts. Entering the party, there was a lack of the usual quiet sarcasm that MJ armed herself with. Moira Mactaggert’s hand was on her throat -- literally, almost. The former mutant had put a necklace on her to allow easier control over her host. MJ didn’t know why she had been targeted, but she grinned all the same as Emma introduced her to some politicians, blank eyes not meeting anyones.
AMERICA CHAVEZ (MCU): Clea wasn’t going to act uncouth?  Sounds fake. “You sound pretty confident about that, chica.” The teen muttered as she tugged at her blue and red dress. Clea was a little off the rails and everyone knew it. “You guys look nice, though.” Her converse were hidden by the gown.
LAYLA EL-FAOULY/SCARLET SCARAB (MCU): This was more than Layla was used to. She was the daughter of an archeologist who had grown up on dig sites. Her days were spent in black market deals, not at galas. There were times to dress up, sure, but nothing like this. With her curls twisted and clasped with gold cuffs, the fledgling hero made her way into the party on Steven’s arm. It felt strange to not be on the arm of her husband, but being with Steven didn’t necessarily feel wrong. “You don’t think it’s too much?” One hand ran down the golden fabric of the dress. It was quite form fitting with more cleavage than she normally displayed, but Layla had been taken by the design. “You look nice as well, Steven.” She tapped his arm once. “We all know white suits you.”
BETSY BRADDOCK/CAPTAIN BRITAIN (616): She was running late. It was the wrong night to do so, but Betsy had a thousand apologies on her lips as she weaved through the crowd. Purple locks had been teased to impossible heights in order to give up a Georgian-esque appearance. Slipping her arms around Rachel, Betsy pressed a kiss to her cheek. “You look absolutely radiant.”
LANA BAUMGARTNER/BOMBSHELL (1610): It was in solidarity that Lana also wore a mask. Hers was a lot smaller, of course, and only covered her eyes, but Miles was masked up and it felt appropriate. Besides, it probably wouldn’t look super great to her parole officer if she was seen at a party full of superheroes. It was exciting to be there with her boyfriend (?!) and she clutched at her Sprite glass. “Shrimp?” She repeated, having momentarily spaced out. “I’m allergic to shellfish, but thank you.”
HOPE VAN DYNE/WASP (MCU): “Scott’s right,” Hope chimed in. “You’re putting Emma Frost to shame.” She was probably going to get shot on sight for saying that. Her own dress had been picked with her mother and the wings were becoming a bit of a hazard. “You don’t look half bad either, Scott.”
CLEA STRANGE (616): Her eyes rolled. “It’s not a lie. It’s something I plan on attempting. I’m not here to make enemies.” She chose to ignore America’s jab. Conjuring a drink, Clea made no move to drink it. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, Stephen. Truly.”
YELENA BELOVA/BLACK WIDOW (MCU): Go to the party, Yelena. Valentina said. Have a good time, Yelena. Ha. Yelena would be hard pressed to have a good time surrounded by this crowd. She had never been to parties growing up and this didn’t seem to be like one she’d be interested in. Her dress was nice nice. Valentina had ensured that the Thunderbolt’s representatives had been dressed to the nines. A nice drink and a cocktail weren’t enough to mollify Yelena, though. One arm draped through his, light eyes skipped over the crowd as she took in every exit and possible threats. “We have fun, James. We socialize. Valentina paid lots of money to make us go some place where we’re not wanted.”
ELSA BLOODSTONE (616): There was a brief laugh. “You’re keeping the bloody fur on. It fits your entire brand, doesn’t it?” No one there would know he was a werewolf, which really just made the entire situation better. “I will say, though. It’s a bit weird to see you in dear old dad’s clothing. I thought I would be done with that forever once he bit it.”
BOBBI MORSE/MOCKINGBIRD (616): Her invitation was unexpected. Bobbi was so incredibly irrelevant that it was painful. She hadn’t been contracting with any teams, which didn’t help. Clint was a welcome face. She set her negroni to the side when she saw him at the bar, rising to kiss his cheek once she made her way there. “You almost look half decent, Barton.”
JEN WALTERS (MCU): One hand moved to Matt’s back. She knew that he didn’t need her, but she liked close proximity. It would have been more comfortable if she was shrunk down to Jen size and they could hold hands, but that would be saved to the end of the night when everyone had been properly greeted. Leaning against the bar, she signaled the bartender. “Two Manhattans, please. Make one extra strong.” It was hard for her to feel anything as She-Hulk. “You’re missing some pretty intense outfits here.”
WANDA MAXIMOFF/SCARLET WITCH (616): This year, Wanda was not going to get murdered. In all fairness, she had killed herself, but that was bygones. She had died for a reason and Krakoa was all the better for it. Taking her fathers arm, Wanda dipped her head. “Cliches become cliches because they’re true. There’s power in certain sayings.” She smiled softly. “There’s nowhere else that I would rather be.”
LAURA KINNEY/WOLVERINE (616): She had successfully skewered her own shrimp a few minutes before Gabby had knocked into things, but she felt a little lame coming over to Logan and her sister with the shellfish hooked to one claw. “What, are we starting a club or something?”
MEGGAN PUCEANU BRADDOCK (616): One hand subconsciously rubbed at her stomach, the motion almost imperceptible. “I’m more than fine. Just a little nauseous, that’s all.” Like she was every morning. This pregnancy -- as secret as it was -- was a little harder than Maggie’s had been. “I saw Kurt earlier,” she commented. “He was quite intoxicated.”
LORNA DANE/POLARIS (616): Decked out in purple ( with green accents ), Lorna had been making her way through the crowd. Being an X-Men for the last year had really helped her to grow up a lot. She had gotten her doctorate, helped save the world and looked amazing while doing so. There was a lot to be proud about. Spotting Alex, the green haired mutant excused herself before making her way to him. “It’s bad luck to drink alone, you know.”
CRYSTALIA AMAQUELIN/CRYSTAL (616): Was it weird to attend a party with your ex-boyfriend? Crystal didn’t think so. She and Johnny were on good terms, and she knew that he was still upset about Kaila. Trying to see if she still remembered his drink, the Inhuman ordered two at the bar before turning to Johnny. “I think you’re the hottest here -- pun intended.”
KATE BISHOP/HAWKEYE (616): Clutching her Corona -- with a lime, of course -- Kate bopped along to the music beside Noh-Varr. “Hey, the night’s young. It can still flip.”
JEAN GREY (616): Jean leaned in, kissing her husband on the cheek. “Let’s not forget that I have good ones too, hm?”
FELICIA HARDY/BLACK CAT (EARTH-PRIME): Her lips were painted black. Thankfully, it made her teeth look whiter and not yellow. Felicia, with one hand draped over Peter’s arm, used her free one to delicately adjust the black cat mask she wore. “No more weird than a mask and a suit,” she teased. “Own it.”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): "Eh, consider it a down payment." Jimmy replied lightly. He was relieved to have someone here that didn't remind him of his lost world or lovers. He let out a bit of a sigh looking around at the crowds. This wasn't his scene. Far too many people. Too many exposed directions. He knew it was under Krakoa security but he didn't see that he belonged here yet. His and poisons instincts were driving him up a wall. "Didn't expect to see you here if we're being honest? Into the whole high society shit?"
MARY JANE WATSON (MCU): Peter was far outshining her. Janet certainly had created a number for him, and while MJ’s McQueen was nothing to scoff at, it didn’t glow like her boyfriend’s did. His glove was slick against her hand, but MJ weaved his fingers through his all the same. “On the plus side,” she commented. “Your outfit doesn’t stick out too much.”
STEPHEN STRANGE (MCU): "Thank you, America." Stephen acknowledged the younger girl, although his eyes were still locked onto Clea as they made their way through the crowd. There were definitely some eyes on them, and it only made him feel more tense as he blinked at Clea's response. It was enough to make his heart feel like it was being ripped out of his chest, but he pushed through the feeling and nodded firmly. "Probably burn this place to the ground, if I had to guess."
CLEA STRANGE (616): “Fire’s not my preferred method of destruction,” Clea mused. “There are other ways to get a point across.”
AMERICA CHAVEZ (MCU): “So she’s not a pyro? Good to know.”
STEVEN GRANT (MCU): "Too much? Oh please, Layla. You look breathtaking. Truly." Steven beamed, although his eyes were struggling to meet with hers because her dress was a quite revealing. Not that he minded at all. It wasn't like she looked bad, she just looked so good that he was having a hard time forming words. Which was a totally normal response, as he tried to keep telling himself. Gently squeezing her arm with his elbow, his cheeks flushed a bit at the compliment. "It feels kind of nice to wear it on my own volition, y'know? No pesky bird butting into my outfit choices and all that."
NOH-VARR (20080): "Fair." He said plainly as his eyes scanned the crowd before a smirk crossed his face. "Should we place bets on who is going to punch who first or is it in bad taste because it could cause an international conflict?"
RACHEL SUMMERS (616): "You don't look so bad yourself, Bets. The makeup is incredible." Rachel smirked, her tight leather red suit was a little much, but she liked it. The spikes were her favorite part. "Running a little late?"
BUCKY BARNES (MCU): "Have fun?" Bucky scoffed softly at that as he shook his head and glanced down at his suit. The thing had to be worth at least a thousand dollars, if not more, and it all felt so fake. He felt misplaced, but he was trying to be a good sport about it, per Valentina's request. He noticed Yelena scanning the room, an action he was already doing himself as he kept a close eye on everyone nearby. It was a habit he unfortunately would never break after everything he'd been through with H.Y.D.R.A. "Who does she want us socializing with? No offense but we're not exactly approachable."
LAYLA EL-FAOULY (MCU): Guilt cut through her like a knife. Khonshu was active and very much still had a hold on her husband; this third alter was nothing but trouble but Layla’s own selfishness was preventing her from being honest. “Thank you,” she accepted the compliment graciously. “You did excellent.” The term of endearment baby almost slipped out. Steven wasn’t the baby type. Layla wasn’t sure what he was, but that was reserved for Marc. “Do you need a drink?”
KATE BISHOP (616): Blue eyes scanned the crowd. “Hm.” She tapped a nail against her bottle before pointing to a guy at the bar who was conferring with a green haired woman. “Him. He seems punchable.”
JACK RUSSELL (MCU): "It does feel a little weird to be wearing a dead man's clothes. But you were the one who insisted that I come as your plus one last minute. I don't exactly have Gala clothes in my closet."
CLINT BARTON (616): Clint threw his third drink back in its entirety, the liquor burning the back of his throat pleasantly as he smirked at Bobbi. "Almost? I picked the outfit myself and everything. And here I was about to compliment yours. I'll withhold, though. You look fine."
SCOTT LANG (MCU): “Why thank you,” Scott smiled, smoothing out his jacket. The suit was a monochromatic number ( black shirt, tie, etc. ) but small embroidered ants adorned the lapels, almost invisible at first glance, but downright plentiful upon closer inspection. And if the earpiece he normally utilized to communicate with the ants was also noticeably tucked away in his ear, well— no it wasn’t. “I think you both, are giving Ms. Frost a run for her money,” he smiled again, leaning toward Hope to press a kiss to her cheek before whispering in her ear with a smirk, “You look hot.”
PETER PARKER (MCU): "I'm usually better with one or the other." He let out a nervous laugh, referring the to the two very distinct halves of his outfit. "You fit right in though! Really, you look.. incredible." Peter glanced down to where Felicia put her hand on his arm. He wanted to pace around but he also wanted to find a seat in the farthest, darkest corner and stay there for the duration of the party. There was a span of a few seconds where he didn't know what to say, but his mind went completely blank when someone caught his eye. Instantly he straightened up to get a better look, forgetting that Felicia was next to him. He pulled away slightly, the eyes of his suit squinting as he looked around. That couldn't be MJ, right?
BETSY BRADDOCK (616): “The makeup is why I’m late.” She explained. “I had someone come to do it and they were a bit of a perfectionist. You look very.. spiky. Have you impaled anyone yet?”
MATT MURDOCK (MCU): "Extra strong?" Matt chuckled softly at that as he reached forward for the drink and took a generous sip. It seemed like the bartender just poured both of them strong, but he didn't mind. He'd probably need it for all of the handshaking he was sure to be doing tonight. "Really? Is that your way of telling me I'm underdressed?" He teased as he raised his eyebrows at her. "I'd love to hear about some of them."
CASSIE LANG (MCU): Cassie scrunched her nose at her dad whispering very sensually into Hope's ear as she pretended to gag. "Ew, Dad. Gross, please stop. I can hear you."
NOH-VARR (20080): "Oh, damn. I think you might win this one Kate." He replied as his emerald eyes scanned before catching the sign of a handsome man. "Wait... KS that Jon Hamm?" Noh said pointing with his eyes.
BRIAN BRADDOCK (616): Brian didn't notice the hand on Meggan's stomach at first, but when she mentioned she was nauseous his brows furrowed and he glanced down to her hand. "Like a normal kind of nauseous?" He asked quietly, pausing to chuckle a bit at the bit about Kurt. "Of course he is. I wouldn't expect anything less."
ALEX SUMMERS (616): Alex smiled warmly when he noticed Lorna approaching. He had just finished his first drink, and turned back to the bartender to place an order for another, as well as something for Lorna. By the time she reached his side, he was able to hand her a glass, “I’m not drinking alone anymore though, am I—”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "A down payment?" Daisy chuckled softly as she shook her head at him. "Noted. I'll keep that in mind for later. Still, thanks for the drink." She teased, reaching the glass up to take a long sip of the champagne as she swallowed it down. She felt like she needed about three more glasses, but she'd get there. "You're saying that about me? Seriously? No offense but you don't look like the high society type yourself, pal."
YELENA BELOVA (MCU): Lifting a flute of champagne off of a tray that was moving past, the bubbles danced on Yelena’s tongue. “Movers and shakers,” she murmured. “We’re here to be seen. Valentina is done hiding.”
ELSA BLOODSTONE (616): She snorted. “You don’t have a closet, mate. You’re crashing with me for free.”
STEVEN GRANT (MCU): Steven's eyes were wandering down towards Layla's chest again, and he hardly noticed until Marc's voice cut into his train of thought. Her eyes are up there, buddy. Blinking hard, Steven awkwardly cleared his throat as if Marc's voice was actually spoken out loud and he was trying to cover it up as he quickly nodded. "A drink would be lovely. Although, I have to be honest I'm not much of a drinker. I'm not... I'm not really sure what I like? That's very embarrassing to admit, I'll have to say."
BOBBI MORSE (616): It wasn’t a contest, but Bobbi was already on her fourth. His following words were laughable. She knew that she looked incredible; from the oversized golden feathers that adorned one ear to her similarly accented dress, she looked like a million dollars. “Own up to it,” she leaned in. “You’re kicking yourself that you don’t get to bring me home.”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): "No problem." Jimmy replied with a nod. He couldn't help but chuckle at her next words. "Hey, I thought I cleaned up nice." He said looking at his cowboy chic attire. "Just didn't think someone who would pick up some guy like me off the street for burgers and beer would choose to be here. I know I didn't." He replied amused.
JOHNNY STORM (616): Johnny graciously accepted the drink, offering up an appreciative smirk when Crystal was able to correctly remember his drink of choice. He was already bobbing his head to whatever track was being pumped through the speakers, ready and itching to have a memorable evening. “You know, I’d argue you look much hotter,” he laughed, slinging an arm around Crystal’s waist without thinking.
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): He offers her a strained smile, catching the bright white halo of Emma’s hair as she moved through the gathering crowd. He has another drink in his hand, a personal public favorite of Emma’s, and he catches her attention as he comes up on her periphery. “Would you like to dance?” He asks as he offers her the drink.
RACHEL SUMMERS (616): "Well the makeup," Rachel paused to kiss Betsy's cheek before planting another soft kiss on her lips. She was pretty sure some lipstick would brush off onto her, but she didn't care. "Looks amazing. You look amazing. I knew you would." She chuckled at the spiky comment and nodded as she did a little turn to show off the whole outfit. "It's perfect, right? Jumbo actually took what I said pretty literally, but it works. And no impalings yet, but the night it still young."
ERIK LEHNSHERR (616): Max. Erik. Father. Leader. Labels and names, all parts of him. All important. What he was learning to do was how to properly weigh their importance. He smiled back at Wanda as she replied. "It is good to see you happy. As much as I do my best to convince everyone I am unaffected by the tension, it is not entirely accurate."
BUCKY BARNES (MCU): Bucky took another sip from the glass he'd picked up earlier, deciding to just drink the rest of it in one long swig. "Seems like she's threatened by that other Thunderbolts team. The one from Earth-616." He nodded over to Clint Barton, who already looked like he was getting way too drunk at the bar.
JACK RUSSELL (MCU): "It's a figure of speech. Because.. Nevermind. You have a point there. I could start paying rent, if you'd like. Or Ted has a place out in the woods thats not too bad."
HOPE VAN DYNE (MCU): Laughing slightly, Hope shook her head. “I’d say the same to you if it wouldn’t scar Cassie.” They had been together long enough that Cassie had seen them being affectionate before, though. “Cass, do you need a soda? I’m going to the bar.”
PETER PARKER (616): “Really?” Peter asked, tone genuine, “Because I know that’s the last thing I want right now. I don’t know if you know me, but parties aren’t really my thing,” he joked as they settled on a place to stand. His spider sense was… conflicting right now. His gut was telling him to relax, to enjoy the night - but something else was keeping him from fully letting go. He shook it off though, turning his attention back to MJ, “You look amazing by the way and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t kiss you with this on.”
CLINT BARTON (616): Clint raised a brow at her words as he took her figure in, her makeup shimmering against the lights from above them as he blinked and tried to refocus himself. But he'd be lying if he said she wasn't right. "Who said I wasn't going to try and take you home?" He mumbled, his mouth a little closer to her ear now as he smirked.
FELICIA HARDY (616): Something shifted. Felicia could see the moment when she lost his attention. Her eyes turned sharply to follow his gaze. There was a girl there, tall and lean. She had dark hair dyed a dark red and a dress that was enviable. “I’m sorry, do you know her?”
CASSIE LANG (MCU): "I'm guessing you're gonna tell me no if I ask for something harder than that?" Cassie teased.
SCOTT LANG (MCU): “Absolutely not,” Scott replied a bit too quickly, but softened a bit after a moment as he looked around, “Just, be smart. Please, kiddo?”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): Daisy took a moment to take in Jimmy's outfit, pretending to ponder her opinion on it for a moment as she placed a finger on her lips and smirked. "You don't look half bad, actually. At least you're not covered in mud this time." At his next words, she gently shrugged her shoulders as she finished off her glass. "I'm not choosing to be here, actually. If it were up to me I'd be in some jeans and my boots, but unfortunately duty calls. And by duty I mean S.H.I.E.L.D. I'm their Inhuman representative."
CASSIE LANG (MCU): "I'm kidding, Dad. Relax." Cassie chuckled softly, but her brows were raised at her dad's quick response as she nudged him. "I'm always smart. You know that. I'll just have a Coke. And a dance with you before Hope steals you off for the night, if that's okay?"
JENNIFER WALTERS (MCU): “Extra strong.” She confirmed. “I’m 6′7″ with the metabolism of a tank. I need a little extra.” Sure enough, the bartender had a generous pour. Jen was glad about that. “Hey, you said it. Not me.” Her eyes picked out a few interesting people in the crowd. “There’s a woman covered in honest to god spikes. Black Widow looks like a dominatrix. A woman has a cloud for a dress. There are multiple people with wings.”
KATE BISHOP (616): “Jon Hamm!? Holy shit, I think it is.” Kate set her Corona down abruptly. “I can’t go say hi, can I? That would be entirely unchill.”
STEPHEN STRANGE (MCU): "Okay, well whatever method, it just needs to be kept to a verbal exchange. The Hellfire Gala is not the place." Stephen insisted, reminding Clea of that out loud even though he'd implied it all night leading up to their arrival. "I suppose you're going to want to go speak to someone?"
MATT MURDOCK (MCU): "Fair enough. Can you even get drunk while you're She-Hulk?" Matt asked curiously, not sure if that had ever come up at any point during their interactions. It probably had, but most nights they spent together they did a minimal amount of talking. As she described some of the other attendees, he tried to stifle a laugh as his brows raised again. "Okay, I'm gonna need a better description on Black Widow. A dominatrix?"
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): Spine stiffening as Moira murmured a command, MJ moved away from the people she had been conversing with abruptly before heading outside.
PETER PARKER (MCU): "What?" Peter whipped back around to Felicia, not registering her question until a few seconds later when he replied. "Oh, yes. I think so? I'm not sure. But I just— I'm sorry. I'm really sorry I gotta go!" He moved away from her, his movements rushed and awkward. "I'll be back! I promise!" Then he took off, pushing his way through the room and the people in it until he got to where she moved to outside. He stopped when he was a few feet away, and she was still facing away from him. That was her. But what was she doing here? And not in Boston? Something felt.. strange. It didn't add up. While his mind tried to process it all he just stood there staring, his breathing short and shallow. He could just walk away, she hadn't seen him yet. He was panicked and excited and scared and hopeful all at the same time, and without thinking he blurted out her name. "MJ?"
MEGGAN PUCEANU BRADDOCK: “We did it again.” The words slipped from her mouth involuntarily. “We did it again and with everything in Otherworld I didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t want you to be concerned.” She was so flustered that Meggan forgot to mention what the it was. Of course her husband wouldn’t have approved of a dangerous mission in a pocket dimension with her being pregnant. What happened if she died? Could the baby be revived as well? “I’m so sorry.”
LORNA DANE (616): Leaning in to kiss his cheek, Lorna inhaled his familiar scent. “As your oldest and most consistent drinking buddy, I couldn’t leave you to your lonesome. How have you been holding up?”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): Jimmy has starred down Galactus, fought armies of sentinels, and has spent the majority of his life being hunted for just being born the way he was, but he still somehow got a little nervous waiting for Daisy's judgement. "Thanks. You got quite the look going yourself I like what you did with the uh, colors." He wasn't good with talking about fashion.  Jeans and boots? He could relate to that. He just wanted to steal a bottle of liquor, lose his jacket, and drink with his feet in the sand. "SHIELD huh?" He replied with a nod before looking her up and down. He had had extremally few run ins with SHIELD himself, even in his home universe. "So what do I call you know? Agent Daisy, Diplomat Daisy, Ma'am?"
LAYLA EL-FAOULY: Layla pondered for a moment. “You? A martini, maybe.” What had that one character liked? Shaken and not stirred? Signaling the bartender, Layla ordered two. “I’ve never been to a party like this,” she confessed. “I don’t know if I like it.”
NOH-VARR (20080): "Unchill? Oh absolutely. It's got to be more casual than just walking up to him. Come up with an excuse, be creative. Say that you're collecting DNA samples for your celebrity collection or whatever you Hollywood fanatics do." Noh replied with some sarcastic amusement in his voice.
CRYSTALIA AMAQUELIN (616): His arm was warm where it touched the bare skin exposed by her dress. Johnny was always warm, but it was familiar in a pleasant way. “I’ve always been better looking than you, Johnny. I was just being nice.” Her nose scrunched slightly.
BRIAN BRADDOCK (616): "Did it again.. What.." Brian trailed off, his brows knitting together as he stared at Meggan, her words not fully processing with him as he started to shake his head. He heard them, of course he did, but he couldn't understand. Maybe it was shock, he wasn't sure. "Concerned about what? Why are you apologizing, love?"
EMMA FROST (616): Oh, hell no. Emma’s nose instantly upturned even though he brought a peace offering. “With you? Absolutely not.”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "The purple?" Daisy helped him out there, a small smile on her face as she nodded at him. "Thanks. I had some help. Like I said, you're not totally wrong about this not being my scene. It just didn't seem like the place to be underdressed. You mutants really go all out, I gotta admit." She couldn't tell you who made the suit, or what year it came out, but she liked it. At least she wasn't wearing a dress, that would just be miserable. But the heels were starting to dig into all the wrong spots on her feet, and she was tempted to just take them off. "Technically Agent Johnson, but you're free to keep calling me Daisy. Just please, no ma'am. Makes me feel like I'm old or something."
BETSY BRADDOCK (616): Betsy melted slightly at the kiss, deepening it before forcing herself to pull away. Lord above -- when had she become so soft? “Stop it. You’re flattering me, and I don’t need any bigger of an ego.” That was a joke. Betsy was painfully humble. “Good, it’ll keep people away. I’m feeling surprisingly possessive.”
WANDA MAXIMOFF (616): Her head tipped to the side. “I am happy, and I’m incredibly glad for that. I’ve found happiness to be fleeting in my life. You deserve it as well, father. Perhaps more than others.”
YELENA BELOVA (MCU): “Idiots.” Yelena muttered. “They’re good people. That’s why they scare Valentina.”
STEVEN GRANT (MCU): "A martini." Steven repeated, his head nodding slightly at that. He'd heard of those before, so he figured they couldn't be that bad if they seemed to be so popular. As they waited at the bar, he looked to her again as she spoke and nodded slightly. "I haven't either. I'm sure Marc would probably say the same. Although he'd probably be even more of a wreck than I am right now if he had to deal with this much social interaction. Seems like I'm the better out of us for that." As he took a sip of the martini, his face scrunched slightly but he found himself taking another sip before swallowing. "And here I am, talking about Marc on our date. Sorry. You just.. I'd really like this to work out, you know? I don't want to mess anything up with you. Because that would be pretty awkward if you hated me and still lived with Marc and that's the last thing any of us need..."
RACHEL SUMMERS (616): "I'm glad to flatter you all night, Betsy Braddock." Rachel smirked, her brow raising curiously at Betsy's next words though as she glanced back down at her outfit. "Oh yeah? Well believe me, I think you're good there. I may as well have a giant neon sign on my back that says 'I bite'."
ELSA BLOODSTONE (616): Jack was, if nothing else, amusing. “You’ve seen where I live,” Elsa looked to him before sipping her whiskey. “I have more money than I want or know what to do with. I don’t need the little you have.”
MARY JANE WATSON (616): She couldn’t help but swish her hips from side to side so she could admire how her dress moved. “Well, you’re in luck, tiger, because they happen to be my thing. I’m great at parties.” Reaching up -- because let’s be real, he had a good foot on her -- MJ pulled up the edge of his mask so she could plant one on him. She was too short to be a model and continuously had to prove she would work on the runway. It made meeting Peter’s lips a little hard, but she was determined.
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): He suppresses the urge to roll his eyes. Now is not the time. “Emma, let’s not. Not here, alright? We’ve done this too long and too many times for you to literally turn your nose up at me.”
BUCKY BARNES (MCU): "Because they make us look bad." Bucky nodded, although it just made him scoff as he glanced at Yelena. "Not sure she needs to worry about them ruining our image. The team itself does a good enough job."
JACK RUSSELL (MCU): "Good, I was hoping you'd say that." Jack teased back with a soft chuckle as he shook his head. He wasn't offended by any means, because Elsa was right. He didn't have much. He had Ted and that was really all he needed most of the time. "In all seriousness, thank you for helping me out there with the full moon. I'm not sure what I would have done otherwise. I'd almost say you're just as considerate as my Elsa, but that might be pushing it."
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): "Yeah that's the word." Jimmy replied with a bit of an embarrassed laugh. "I got help to so I can't fault ya' there. But don't go actin' like this is my scene. Too stuffy for me. I was... What words did she use? Oh yeah. strongly encouraged to be here in show for solidarity and all that junk. Wanted to show family values or something like that. Not that they cared enough to look..." He said trailing off as his eye looked in the direction of Logan, Laura and Gabby. He cleared his throat pushing all that away. "Well." He said taking her empty glass. "Looks like you could use another, not ma'am." He replied with a small wink feeling dumb for winking immediately after. "Want somethin' the same or different. Gotta make all these deposits on repaying you." He said offering a fanged half smile.
SCOTT LANG (MCU): “—‘course, peanut,” Scott nodded, unable to hide his once again growing smile, “Sounds like a plan.” God was he proud of her. He hadn’t been around for as long as he would’ve liked, but Cassie had grown into the most intelligent, caring, wonderful young woman, and he could not have been happier.
BOBBI MORSE (616): His breath was warm against her ear and a shiver ran down her spine. “All these years, and still so predictable. I can’t say I don’t like it,” she admitted. “Just play your cards right.”
CLEA STRANGE (616): “Emma Frost, Charles Xavier or Erik Lehnsherr.” She instantly ticked off the three names. “Any of the three would be sufficient.”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "It is stuffy in here, huh? I knew it'd be crowded, but there's a lot of people here." Daisy pointed out, her gaze following Jimmy's over towards the Wolverines at the snack table who were all skewering shrimp with their claws. They seemed to be having a good time, and she felt bad that Jimmy wasn't joining them over there. But she was sure there had to be some kind of weird dynamic going on considering he wasn't from their reality. "Guess they like shrimp?" It was a haphazard attempt to make him feel better, but then he was changing the subject to the drink and she nodded slowly. Did he just wink at her? "Whatever you think will get me where I need to be. I'm not picky."
ALEX SUMMERS (616): Alex hoped to whatever god would listen that he didn’t turn the color of a tomato right then and there. Lorna’s lips against his cheek were a familiar and welcome feeling. He really kinda missed this. Letting out a slight chuckle after he took another swig of his drink, he shrugged, “I’m okay, I think. Yeah, I’m okay.” His smile that followed didn’t quite reach his eyes but that didn’t mean in the slightest that it wasn’t genuine.
EMMA FROST (616): “Here?” Her tone was haughty. “Here, you mean my party? My event of the season that you almost derailed by exposing nationwide secrets to the world?” The switch to telepathy was seamless. How dare you? How big is your ego to come and confront me at my event?
STEPHEN STRANGE (MCU): Stephen's gazed moved across the room towards Erik across the room, who seemed to be speaking to Wanda. He was sure she wouldn't appreciate the interruption, but that seemed like the better option than getting in the middle of Emma Frost and Scott Summers. "Magneto it is." None of them were going to take the conversation well, but Magneto in particular seemed like a pretty dangerous route.
JOHNNY STORM (616): Johnny pretend gasped, before finishing off his glass, not once breaking eye contact with Crystal as he set the empty glass back down. “How rude,” He muttered in his best Michelle Tanner voice. His drink was just as quickly replaced but he ignored it for a moment before eyeballing the dance floor and grabbing Crystal’s hand with a raised brow, “—eh?”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): She was definitely judging the wink. Why'd he do that? Must have been because of Poison. He'd just blame them for that mistake. "Guess that depends on where ya need to be? If you need to stay here and alert for Agent Johnson business maybe just more champagne or a martini. Spies like Martinis right?" Jimmy joked. "If you want to get over all this stuffiness we steal a bottle of something strong and take a walk."
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): “Do you expect me to avoid you?” He’s matching her tone, rising and falling, and he’s quick to reign it in. “Have you ever known me to do something rash and impulsive?”
JENNIFER WALTERS (MCU): “Not like I can when I’m Jen.” The cup was too small in her hand. It was one swallow before Jen was asking for another. “She’s in a really tight body suit that’s shiny,” she described. “There’s some red lace in the center in the Widow’s logo. It’s a look, trust me.”
PETER PARKER (616): Peter couldn’t help but grin from underneath the mask as he watched MJ move. How he had wound up with someone like her was a mystery in itself, but that was a story for another time. When she lifted his mask however, it revealed the grin and he graciously closed the last few inches between their lips with a kiss a bit too heated for an event of this scale. “Sorry,” he laughed, a flush creeping up now exposed neck.
EMMA FROST (616): People were beginning to stare. In addition to looking flawless, she was the host. Everyone wanted a piece of her. Emma grabbed Scott and pulled him close as she began to dance. “I strongly remember a whole chain of Cyclops was right merchandise. I also remember you choking me out with the Phoenix Force coursing through us both. Your judgement is ... questionable at times, darling.”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "Yeah the champagne isn't gonna cut it." Daisy admitted, shaking her head softly as she let out a sigh. "I have a feeling things are going to get pretty tense here in a second with Clea Strange and I do not want to be around for that." Maybe she needed to be, but she wasn't having a terrible time with Jimmy. It definitely beat standing around and people watching. She did raise a curious brow at his suggestion, though. Was it smart to go outside with him and steal a liquor bottle from the bar? Absolutely not. But it did sound fun. "You know what? Why not."
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): A voice called her name. Moira MacTaggert was rolling her eyes but still turned around with a pasted smile. “...Spider-man?” She asked. “I’m here because my aunt takes the petals.”
PETER QUILL (MCU): Quill made his way onto the dance floor after his previous conversation partner had migrated elsewhere. His movements were awkward, but loose, joints lubricated by the whiskey that now likely coursed through his veins. “Fuck yeah, Bowie—“ he swayed back and forth by himself as another dance track played over the speakers.
KATE BISHOP (616): “--I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna talk to him.” Kate was hyping herself up. “I’m gonna talk to Jon Hamm.”
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): “I doubt the Phoenix Force is a fair example here.” He slipped a hand around her waist, abandoning the drink on a nearby table. “If you want to list poor decision making, I’d be happy to remind you of your past.”
MEGGAN PUCEANU BRADDOCK (616): She was going about this all wrong. There was only one chance to tell him, and she had blown it. Again, her hand rested on her stomach. “I’m pregnant,” Meggan told him quietly. “For a little while now.”
LOGAN HOWLETT (616): "A club?" Logan scoffed. "Aren't clubs usually things you choose to join? Who would want to be in a club with you two?"
ROCKET RACCOON (MCU): Rocket was shoving his way through several people on the dance floor, a bag in his hands shoved with several trinkets that he'd managed to pick off of unsuspecting guests. "This place is awesome, Quill! I'm gonna make a fortune when we go back to Hala!"
MILES MORALES (1610): Miles was glad he could still see most of Lana’s face, even though she was also masked up. He appreciated the sentiment. His face immediately fell when she mentioned that she was allergic to shellfish as he spit out the shrimp he’d just popped into his mouth. “Oh jeez, really? I’m.. How did I not know that?”
EMMA FROST (616): “That was just the tip of the iceberg.” Her tone was frost coated. Emma was tempted to go diamond to block out her feelings, but she needed her anger to keep her moving. Scott, Charles, Erik. Men were absolutely dismal. It was Emma who dipped Scott, arms strong as she supported him for a moment. “What are you hoping to accomplish here, Scott? An apology would be an excellent place to start and I haven’t seen one yet. If you wanted to fuck me, there were better ways to go about it.”
BRIAN BRADDOCK (616): Oh. That's what they had done again. Brian was silent for a long few seconds as he took some time to fully process her words now as he blinked. As upset as he wanted to be for the mission she'd just gone on not too long ago, the concern immediately flushed away when he realized that she was conceiving again. With him. "Meggan that's... I mean, this is good news. It is good news, right?"
CASSIE LANG (MCU): Smiling now, Cassie grabbed onto her dad's hand and led him out towards the floor. Once the song toned down to something a little more easygoing, she got into position and gently swayed along with him. "I know there hasn't been a lot of time for me to fully say this, with me starting college and all... But I'm really glad you're back, Dad. So glad."
PETER QUILL (MCU): Quill turned to Rocket with a semi-surprised expression, but continued to dance as they spoke ( if it could even be called ‘dancing’ ), “Dude — not cool. Put those baaack,” he slurred, bumping into a few other partygoers as he stumbled.
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): He couldn't help but let a faint smile show on his face as she agreed. He felt so alone. There were so many people who claimed to be there for him but they weren't. They forgot, him, ignored him, and didn't need him. He didn't hate them for that. It just hurt. They just mattered more to him than he did to them. He cared about people too much. "Sounds like a plan. I'm technically a citizen here so follow my lead. At least I think I am..." He said trailing off before heading by the bar. As they were walking past he let two claws escape from his skin and coat in Poison. They extended and wrapped around a bottle of whiskey and tequila before snapping back to him not breaking stride as they head towards the tree line. "Whisky or Tequila?" He asked shaking the bottles slightly. "Or are you a freak and mix them?" Jimmy Joked."
LAYLA EL-FAOULY (MCU): The martini wasn’t half bad. Layla sipped at it for a moment as Steven tasted his own. His occasional naivety was endearing, if nothing else. “We never went out like this,” Layla spoke in reference her marriage with Marc. “So, I’m glad to have a first experience with you.” It was something shared between the two of them. It made Layla feel all the worse for lying. One hand moved to rest on his chest. “Steven,” her tone was gentle. “It’s okay. You’re not ruining everything. You’re fine. Better than fine.”
PETER PARKER (MCU): "You're—? Oh, okay. I-I didn't know that. Is that why you're visiting from Boston?" Peter was instantly thrown off by her answer. Everything about her felt off-center. He remembered what it was like for MJ to look back at him with unfamiliar eyes, but this? This was something else entirely. The small amount of restraint he had for talking to her like she had the faintest idea of who he was completely fell away. "Are you okay?"
ROCKET RACCOON (MCU): Rocket frowned at the sight of Quill's stumbling and came off of his high horse for a minute to take a look at his teammate. "Jesus... you're completely sloshed. Did you forget that you were supposed to drive the ship back tonight?"
SCOTT LANG (MCU): Scott let Cassie drag him onto the dance floor with a defeated chuckle. As much as he truly did not want to dance, he wasn’t going to deny her this moment, not when the universe had stolen so many others from them. The mention of his only daughter starting college left a lump in Scott’s throat, but he powered through it, “Me too, sweetheart. Me too.”
NOH-VARR (20080): "I'll be cheering you on." Noh replied with a faint laugh as he watched Kate go towards Hamm. He couldn't help but feel a touch envious at the moment. He and Kate were just friends. He knew this. But there had always been underlying feelings for her that he had consistently tried to squash out, and yet here he was.
SCOTT SUMMERS (616): “I believe I owe you an explanation. You may never forgive me,” though he suspects she will “but at the very least you’ll understand. Take a peek, dig as deep as you want. You’ll find whatever answers you’re looking for, even if you don’t like them.”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "You think you are?" Daisy snorted under her breath as she followed alongside Jimmy, trying her best to look nonchalant as she watched Poison coat his claws and sneak off two bottles. They didn't even have to slow down their walk. It was honestly pretty impressive as she smirked at the sight of the bottles. "Something tells me you're a Whiskey guy, so Tequila."
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): “I live in Boston,” she echoed. A drink was held in one hand while a finger tapped out a distinct pattern onto the glass. “Fine. I’m fine. You’re Spider-man.” Did she know Spider-man? Moira didn’t think so. “I don’t think we’ve met.”
KATE BISHOP (616): “--You’re coming with me, right? This is our moment.” Kate grabbed Noh by the hand.
CLEA STRANGE (616): And so Magneto it was. Clea marched over to him and Wanda with the trail of her dress dragging heavily behind her. “Magneto,” she cut into their conversation. “We need to talk.”
CRYSTALIA AMAQUELIN (616): God, he was being hot both literally and physically. She abandoned her drink in honor of taking his hand on the dance floor. “You step on my dress, you’re dead.”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): "They at least didn't tell me to leave when I showed up here a week ago." Jimmy replied with a shrug and a faint laugh. "You know, I get that a lot? Am I just too rugged looking or something to enjoy a tequila sunrise on the beach?" Jimmy replied amused. He was in fact a fan of that. Reminded him of sneaking out in high school and drinking on the beach when life was simple. "But while I was livin in the north I got a bit of a taste for the brown stuff too." He mused as he looked down to paths. "Beach walk or jungle walk?" He said turning to her.
LORNA DANE (616): She decided to not call him out. Tonight, they were fine. Tonight, they would have fun. The Hellfire Gala only came once a year, after all. She tossed back the rest of her drink before ordering another. “It’s crazy how much has happened in a year, isn’t it? You’re off the Hellions now.”
STEVEN GRANT (MCU): Steven took another sip from his martini, this time trying his best to take a long one despite the taste, and he managed to swallow it down as he listened to Layla and smiled gently. Even as he started to ramble and get himself worked up, the hand on his chest grounded him back to the Gala as he met her eyes and nodded slowly. Taking a slow, deep breath, Steven nodded again, more firmly this time. "Thank you, uh.. for that." Smiling again, he grabbed onto her hand and gave it a squeeze before finishing his martini. The liquid courage was already helping a little bit, thankfully. "I'm glad that I get to share this with you, too. Although I'm thinking our next date can be somewhere a little more quiet. Maybe a museum neither of us have been to." That sounded nice, actually. Their shared love for history was refreshing. He was about to turn to the bartender and order them another round when he felt the wind pick up around them and noticed a familiar set of cloth wrappings across the room. And then he spotted a large hippo and quickly closed his eyes, bringing his fingers up to pinch the bridge of his nose as he let out a nervous chuckle. "I think maybe I had too much to drink.."
STEPHEN STRANGE (MCU): Stephen barely had any time to talk through what their game plan was when suddenly Clea was storming off across the room, and he shared a nervous glance with America before following alongside her and standing at a distance.
PETER QUILL (MCU): “I was say what—” Quill blinked, half responding to Rocket before another song came on and his dancing resumed. He quickly bored of the song however and began to make his way back toward the bar, “—eh, Drax can drive,” he called out to Rocket over his shoulder dismissively.
NOH-VARR (20080): He was stunned for a moment as she felt her hand grip his, but he did grip tightly back. "Right, wouldn't miss him." He said offering a smile as he looked past the white tendrils of hair hanging in his face.
PETER PARKER (MCU): "No, no of course. You would just know me as Spider-Man." Peter shook his head, trying to rid his brain of the confusion that was growing. The way she was talking, the way she was moving and acting, it wasn't her. MJ said she was fine but he didn't believe her. There was no one around— everyone was occupied inside with one thing or another. So, Peter did something kinda stupid. He took off his mask. "Listen, you being here.. it just doesn't feel right. I know you don't recognize me but... you do know me." He could feel his throat tighten and so he swallowed, trying to get his next words out. It was like the day in the coffee shop all over again. "If you're in trouble, you can trust me. Please. MJ. I want to help you."
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "The fact that you even got to come in in the first place should be sign enough, I guess. From my understanding, you can't cross the gates unless you're a mutant." Daisy chuckled back at him as she followed him outside of the main building and took in the fresh air. It was crisp outside, but not as cold as the New York air had been recently. "No, you're just dressed like a cowboy. And cowboys like whiskey, it's in all the songs." She considered the options for the moment before going with the safer one, leaning down to unbuckle her heels once they made it towards the sand. "Beach walk sounds nice."
ROCKET RACCOON (MCU): Rocket huffed angrily as Quill walked away from him, and actually used the bag of stuff he was holding to whip around and smack Quill on the back of the legs with it. "Hey! I'm talkin' to you. What's gotten into you tonight? If it’s still about Gamora.. I'm sorry dude, but you've got to get over yourself. We all miss her."
EMMA FROST (616): With eyes glowing white, Emma dove into Scott’s mind. She was well acquainted with it; they’d been friends, partners and lovers. They’d had an entire psychic affair within the boundaries of his psyche. This was different. She took in image after image as her mouth fell open. Urich, Sinister, the whole bloody affair. There was only one word to sum it up: Fuck. Emma looked to Scott. “It’s only fair I show you mine, isn’t it?” With that, she pulled him off the dance floor to confer in private.
JOHNNY STORM (616): “God, I do that — I’ll kill myself first,” Johnny teased, but led Crystal toward the dance floor anyway. He was already several drinks in, but Johnny could absolutely hold his liquor. Unlike…some people. If one were to assume he was a bit of a wild child in his youth, they would be entirely correct. They reached the center of the dance floor just as a more upbeat zone began again and Johnny let the music guide him on how to move.
ERIK LEHNSHERR: He was just about to say something to Wanda when they were interrupted. "Clea." His gaze flicked over to Strange for a moment, then landed back on the sorcerer in front of him. "Apologies, my dear daughter. It seems that there is business to discuss."
BETSY BRADDOCK (616): She laughed once, kissing Rachel deeply. “I need a drink. Something stiff, preferably.”
ELSA BLOODSTONE (616): Some of her bravado simmered at his words. “Of course. The world isn’t kind to werewolves: especially not on full moons. However, if your Elsa was half as considerate as me, you’d have gone to her instead. Fess up: you like me better.”
RACHEL SUMMERS (616): Rachel kissed back, not caring about anything else in the world in that moment except for her before she finally pulled away and nodded. "What the lady wants, the lady gets. I'll be back."
JIMMY HUDSON (AOS): "Honestly wasn't sure if my x-gene would cut it. I'm built different. Literally." He mused. It was still a weird fact to get used to that here Mutants were just born and occured naturally. Not just created. "Oh I thought you didn't profile? You did think I was homeless didn't you?" Jimmy teased as he unbuckled his boots and tossed them to the side. He didn't care about the boots even they were expensive. As they walked onto the cool sand of the beach he was immediately reminded of home. It was comforting. His posture just relaxed. "This is my favorite stretch of beach. We - I've come here about every night since I've gotten here. It's nice to sleep under such an open sky. The stars really shine." He said looking up as he passed her the tequila and took a swig of whisky.
ALEX SUMMERS (616): Alex nodded, feeling particularly introspective in this moment, “It definitely is.” He’d come so far since this time last year, it was almost laughable to think about where he’d started — where he’d wound up. The Hellions were an interesting bunch, but they’d become his family over the past year. His strange, fucked up, little family. The universe didn’t seem to like that however, and decided Alex’s time in X-Men purgatory seemed to be up. He was grateful, but he would certainly miss the others. Some of them, that is.
JACK RUSSELL (MCU): "Don't I know it. It really saved me, so thank you again. And I do have to admit, you do have more of a sense of humor than she does." That certainly helped. He didn't dislike his Elsa by any means, but she wasn't a very open conversationalist. That was definitely a stark difference between the two. "I was very much expecting a no from you when I asked."
YELENA BELOVA (MCU): “I have a great image. I freed Widow’s around the world from subjugation.” She also had Natasha’s shadow looming over her. Everyone who found out expected Yelena to be the same; it was a hellish repeat of her childhood. “It’s Walker who ruins it all.”
LORNA DANE (616): “I don’t know what the hell I’m going to do,” Lorna admitted. “They’ll announce it soon, but I’m leaving the X-Men. Where does that put me? They’ve been this amazing, crazy adventure and I learned so much, and now...” she shrugged. “Now I’m killing  the mood. Let’s have another drink.”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "Different reality thing?" Daisy questioned, figuring that's what he meant. She was still familiarizing herself with how the mutants operated, so she wasn't so sure of the difference of how much it mattered. But he seemed to get in just fine, at least. "It's not profiling if I'm just calling it like it is. You can't be wearing cowboy boots and try to tell me you don't like whiskey." That just totally contradicted itself. "Would you hate me if I said yes? It's not my fault. And there's no judgement if you are, but you looked pretty disheveled." More than disheveled. He was a mess when she stumbled into him the other day. As they walked barefoot on the sand, Daisy took in the breeze some more as she tugged the tequila bottle up to her lips and took a long sip. She couldn't help but to look up to the sky at his words. "It is nice to see the sky so clearly without all the light pollution."
MARY JANE WATSON (616): She hummed against his lips. “I have no idea why you’re apologizing.” Pulling away ( reluctantly ), MJ grinned up at him. “Get your girlfriend a drink?”
LAURA KINNEY (616): “Let’s be real.” Laura popped a shrimp into her mouth. “Getting cloned was the best thing that ever happened to you.” Because it had, in the end, brought her. They challenged each other to be better.
LANA BAUMGARTNER (1610): “No no no no--” Lana waved her hands. “It’s not, like, a bad allergy. It just makes me itchy if I eat it directly.”
BUCKY BARNES (MCU): "I never said you were the one with the bad image. Valentina couldn't make up a squad entirely of degenerates. People would be protesting against us if she did." Instead she framed it as if it was a rehabilitation program, which all of them knew was a load of bullshit. Bucky saw right through it, but he was still involving himself anyways. He scoffed at the mention of Walker and clenched his jaw, the memory of them beating the shit out of each other still fresh on the brain. Valentina still made sure that they weren't assigned together on any missions. "I don't know why she thought he'd add anything to the roster. I still don't trust him." He didn't trust any of them, really. Not even fully Yelena.
PETER QUILL (MCU): Quill let out a yelp when Rocket struck him with the bag, falling flat on his hands and knees as he tried to move forward. He turned to look at Rocket over his shoulder with a scowl, “Not cool, man. Not cool.” Standing and dusting himself off as gracefully as he could in this state, he turned back to face Rocket again. Determination in his gaze for a brief moment before he broke down, “How am I supposed to get over her, when she’s walked back into my life? It’s like looking at a ghost! Except this ghost wants fuck all to do with me.” He was breathing rather heavily as he finished his rant, and before Rocket could respond he was gesturing to the bartender again.
ROCKET RACCOON (MCU): Rocket stood squarely, trying his best not to let his face falter at the sight of Quill so upset. But truth be told, he missed Gamora too. A lot. And although he'd never admit it out loud, seeing her lead the Ravengers and have no memory of any of them stung. Quill was right, it was like looking at a ghost. The whole thing was incredibly depressing, and he didn't have the stakes of an entire romantic relationship with her like Quill did to make it ten times worse. "Quill.." He spoke, this time his tone a little softer as he hopped up onto a barstool and placed a paw on Quill's back. "Bud, I get it. This all sucks, very bad. But you can't just drink yourself into oblivion and expect it all to go away."
MEGGAN PUCEANU BRADDOCK: “It’s good news.” She repeated after him. “It’s -- yes, it’s good news. We’ve talked about expanding our family, haven’t we?” They’d always come to the conclusion that Maggie needed to grow a little and they were so busy. Meggan cast her eyes downwards. “I’m sorry for not telling you. I didn’t want to concern you.”
MILES MORALES (1610): Miles still felt terrible as he grabbed a glass of water and practically chugged it. Wiping some from his mouth, he grimaced. "Well that still kind of ruins the whole plan I had for the end of the night.. I totally ruined this, didn't I?"
LAYA EL-FAOULY (MCU): Whatever she was going to say died on her lips. Layla did everything in her power to stop her mouth from falling open. “That has to be it.” Too much alcohol. Taweret, she all but screamed mentally. No. No. You can’t be here. Go home. The hippo waved a hand. It’s a party, love. I do love a party. There’s none on the Duat because, well, you know. Layla shot Steven a furtive look. “Maybe we should stand elsewhere.”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): "Yeah something like that. One of the first things that happened to me when I got here is I was abducted and experimented on. Told me my x-gene was weird and important,  and I wasn't too big in that." He said almost regretting saying it for multiple reasons but choosing to ignore it. "I never said I didn't like it. I've just got more diversity in my tastes." He said with a small laugh. As she went on about their first encounter he nodded along. "I can't blame you. Especially since I haven't had a place to call home for a few years at that point... a lot happened and I needed to figure out who I was after that so I traveled. You caught me right after I finished my walk from Argentina. Wasn't looking my most presentable after that was I?" He said witha. Slightly embarrassed laugh. Taking another swig he responded. "Yeah. It's one of things I really liked when I was living in the rainforest for a while. Just open and unpolluted skies. Makes you remember how big the universe is. That there has to be some place where everyone belongs out there."
BRIAN BRADDOCK (616): "Yes, we have." Brian nodded firmly, a soft smile spreading across his face as he glanced at her stomach and gently placed his hand on it. Expanding their family. He was going to be a father again. To two children now. It was still a lot to process, and he was pretty sure he was still in shock, but he couldn't keep his eyes from watering. "This is the furthest thing from concerning. This is.. this is amazing, Meggan." Cupping her cheeks, he blinked some tears away and smiled wider at her. "We're going to have another baby."
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): Daisy made a face when Jimmy mentioned getting experimented on. "Unfortunately I am way too familiar with the feeling. But.. I'm sorry. No one should ever have to go through that. Having your autonomy stripped away is just.." She didn't even have the words. As he continued to spoke, her eyebrows shot up when she realized what he'd said. "Argentina? And you walked?" She followed suit with the swig, needing a longer one to try and understand how the hell he travelled that far as she swallowed thickly and nodded. "That was one of my favorite part about being up in space. The stars are so clear and untouched by all the shit on Earth. And yeah, the universe is huge."
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): This was certainly throwing a wrench into the plans. Why did Spider-man of all people know her? Michelle Jones-Watson had been picked because she was irrelevant; she had a family but she would be easy to dispose of. Some people were easy to miss. It took everything in Michelle to tap out the morse code again, this time a little louder. “My Aunt takes petals,” she repeats. “That’s why I’m here.”
CRYSTALIA AMAQUELIN: “Please, don’t do that. You’d kill my buzz.” Crystalia was happily intoxicated. She spotted Medusa on the other side of the room and offered her sister a small wave before she spun. “This is nice. I miss this. Don’t tell anyone, but sometimes I miss you. Then I remember you dated my sister.”
CLEA STRANGE (616): “It’s important.” Clea came to a halt. “We need to talk about Stephen Strange. He needs to be placed in your queue.”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): He looked at her for a long moment as she empathized with him. Deep appreciation in his eyes. "I'm really sorry to hear that you can relate... I became an X-Man all those years ago to stop shit like that..." He said thinking back to Blackbox, Mach 4, and all the kids that were in Utopia with him. He laughed faintly at her surprise. "I mean, I swam, mountain climbed, and ran too. I'm an out doorsy type I guess." He shrugged. "I'd like to see the world from there one day. See the stars up close. I had a view once, but it wasn't a good time.  I'd like to do it under, well for less shitty reasons." He said with a bit of a scoff.
ELSA BLOODSTONE (616): Elsa waved him off. “You don’t need to keep thanking me. Keep it up and I’ll turn you out onto the streets.” It was a lie. She was fond of him when he wasn’t tearing up her guest rooms. “That is most certainly a yes to my question, isn’t it?”
YELENA BELOVA (MCU): “I don’t want to talk business.” Yelena cut him off. “Not anymore. This dress is very tight. I need to drink more.”
STEVEN GRANT (MCU): "I only had one. That's not.. not how that works, is it? I can't be that much of a lightweight. Marc drinks like a sailor." Marc definitely had a problem with alcohol, if anything. And it was the same body. And Steven didn't feel drunk. Maybe just slightly tipsy at best. Khonshu locked eyes with Layla (or what would have been his eyes if he still had them) and then turned his gaze back to Taweret. Jake Lockley has been skipping out on too many of my requests. And this problem didn't arise until you came into the picture, Little Bug. I'm afraid your act is up. Okay, Steven definitely heard that. His face twisted into an expression of hurt as he took a step back from Layla and frowned. "Layla.. Do you see them too? What is he talking about?"
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "It happened awhile ago at this point, but thanks. That's also why I stayed with S.H.I.E.L.D. after all this time." Even though S.H.I.E.L.D. was what got her into all of those messes with Fitz and Malick in the first place. "It feels good to be able to help, I guess. I'm sure you get that." She listened intently as he described the journey from Argentina and shook her head. That was very impressive but also slightly concerning. Then again, he was related to Wolverine. That had to help some with stamina. "Maybe I'll let you know next time I get called to go up there. I did an extended mission up there with my sister for about six months before coming to New York. I've been itching to go back."
BUCKY BARNES (MCU): Bucky nodded, deciding that was fair. He didn't really want to talk about Walker either, or he was pretty sure he'd break the glass that was currently in his hand. Setting the empty cup down on a nearby table, he nodded. "What do you want? I'll go get it." He needed some more alcohol anyways, and if he was going to be forced to be there the least he could do was try to lighten up a bit.
LANA BAUMGARTNER (1610): She shouldn’t have said anything. Lana should have just said no and moved on. “Please, let’s not derail any plans. I’m looking forward to whatever they are. Like I said, I have to digest them. I won’t die.”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): "I get that. Took me a long time to process thats what was going on, but I get it." He was too focused on survival and keep his species alive to think about how it felt. He didn't have time for emotions like that at the time so he just buried them deep. "What? I feel like you're judging me." He said with a smile as he took another swig from his bottle. "Mean it? Damn I must have made a good impression if you're inviting me on vacations already." He said with a laugh, sounding a bit proud of that one.
MEGGAN PUCEANU BRADDOCK (616): Her other hand came to rest above his as well, all three hands then placed on her stomach and the child growing inside. It was a great relief to no longer have to keep it a secret. “I’m sorry for not telling you,” she said again. “You’ve had so much on your plate, but that’s not fair. You deserved to know; especially since we were in Otherworld.”
MATT MURDOCK (MCU): Matt could hear her swallow the drink down in one gulp and bit back a smile as he took a generous sip from his own cup as he listened to her. "Sounds like it. Now I definitely feel underdressed. I'm sure standing next to you doesn't help my case. Seems like Luke made you a pretty nice dress. Or well, it feels nice."
CLINT BARTON (616): "I'd know you were lying if you did." Clint insisted, pulling away from Bobbi with a smirk still on his face as he threw back some more liquor and swallowed, having to close his eyes and steady himself for a moment before gripping the counter and looking at Bobbi again. "Don't I always? I mean, we've been playing this game for awhile. You'd think I know the rules by now."
LAYLA EL-FAOULY (MCU): He could talk all he wanted. Layla was determined not to respond to Khonshu. Her eye twitched in an attempt to stop herself from shooting him the nastiest look she could. Taweret seemed to get the message and vanished. Then, Steven asked. He asked and she didn’t have it in her to lie again. She closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath. “I’m sorry, Steven.”
PETER PARKER (MCU): "You already— you already told me that." Peter couldn't hide his exasperation at this point. Taking off his mask was a risk and she didn't react at all. She might not remember their past, but she would recognize him from where she used to work. "I don't understand!" He had no idea what to do, until he saw her tapping. He tried not to stare and just listen, focusing on her face like if he looked hard enough he could find the answer. Then it registered to him what she was tapping. H E L P "I gotta go." Peter bolted out of there with no warning , his heart absolutely racing as he slipped his mask back on. He practically ran into Logan once he made it back inside, and the words fall out of his mouth before he could think clearly. "We've got a problem! There's a girl here, Michelle Jones, and something is wrong. She tapped out a message for help and keeps repeating phrases and she's not herself! I don't know what's going on but we have to do something!"
JACK RUSSELL (MCU): Jack offered back a warm smile as he nodded at her and let out a soft laugh. "Yes. That's a yes. Just please don't tell her." Not that he thought they'd ever interact anyways, but still. He didn't want to hurt his Elsa's feelings. It was complicated, but he was definitely starting to form a bond now. Oddly enough, a monster hunter and a monster. A monster hunter who harbored monsters at her place for free, apparently.
YELENA BELOVA (MCU): “Vodka. Neat.” She ordered. “Thank you.” In the meanwhile, she would people watch.
ALEX SUMMERS (616): “No, god no—“ Alex shook his head, “you’re okay, I promise.” The future was uncertain, and that wasn’t something to be down about. He paused for a moment, contemplating again before smiling to himself. Maybe he really was okay. At Lorna’s request, he happily obliged and the bartender moved to refill their glasses.
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "I'm not judging! I'm just... impressed? Not a lot of people are capable of something like that." Daisy shrugged as she threw back some more tequila and blinked, letting that sit for a minute as she snorted at him. "Woah there, I'm not suggesting a vacation. You're not there yet. Brief trips up to space? That I could do. You still owe me quite a few more drinks before we make it to vacation level. Or at the very least you could buy me lunch someday."
PETER PARKER (616): Peter nodded, disappointed as well that the kiss had been interrupted. He wanted nothing more in that moment than to be in a cab, on their way back home, or to a hotel room or anywhere a bit more private. But social obligations were necessary, and it wasn’t quite acceptable for them to disappear just yet. Peter awkwardly shuffled over to the bar and returned to MJ a few moments later with two drinks in hand. “For you.”
PETER QUILL (MCU): “Who says I can’t—“ Quill grumbled, shrugging off Rocket’s hand, despite the fact that every ounce of his being was welcoming the positive connection. It was certainly different, coming from Rocket, but Quill was stubborn right now, and angry— and drunk. Those three never made for a particularly great combination.
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): "I've got a few things in my favor for that so I can't take a lot of credit. I don't really get worn out and I heal quick and don't get sick. Makes it a lot easier." He said trying to act as though it wasn't impressive. As she snorted he couldn't help but shake his head and smile. "Nice one." He gently teased at the snort. "Ah yeah, fair point fair point. How about next week. Wednesday? My treat."
STEVEN GRANT (MCU): "Who's.. who's Jake, Layla? And why was Taweret here?" Steven's voice was firm now that he was sure of himself, and there was a hint of anger behind it as he furrowed his brows at Layla. This was definitely the worst case scenario for how their date could have gone, and his head was reeling. Marc had retreated after seeing Khonshu, and as much as Steven was trying to hold it together he was very much on the brink of losing it. None of this was making sense, and the way Khonshu was talking to Layla like they'd spoken recently was what Steven was the most caught up on. "I don't.. understand, Layla. Khonshu was talking to you. Why?"
JOHNNY STORM (616): “We don’t have to talk about that,” Johnny teased, catching Medusa’s eye as well and offering up his own polite wave. They continued to dance together comfortably, bodies moving in tandem, a relaxed, familiar air about them. “I miss this too.”
ROCKET RACCOON (MCU): "Me. Now come on. You're gonna leave the bar or I'm gonna get Drax over here. And none os us need the embarrassment of him dragging your ass out of here like a baby. We can talk this through more but I'm not letting you drink anything else.”
LOGAN HOWLETT (616): "Whoa whoa whoa! Slow down, kid!" Logan watched the young Spider-Man rush through the crowd from outside and practically caught him from skidding into the table. After more panicked rambling, Logan heard enough and told him to wait while he went to go get help. Specifically: don't move, don't talk, just stay. The person he was looking for just happened to be dancing. When he saw her, he reached out with his mind. Jean. We might have a situation. He paused. Whoever your dance partner is, ditch 'em.
JENNIFER WALTERS (MCU): Even though she knew She-Hulk was on the invitation, Jen couldn’t help but shrink down next to Matt until she was her normal size. Instantly, a wave of alcohol rolled over her due to the switch. “Whoa.” She grabbed the bar. “He killed it -- as usual. Feel free to feel it all you like.”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "Please, take the credit. You can admit it's impressive. Even if it's because of a cool healing factor." Daisy smiled, rolling her eyes when he teased her about the snort as she reached forward and gently hit his arm. "Shut up, I'm drunk." When he actually threw out a day of the week at her, she raised her eyebrows and shrugged slightly. "Yeah, I could make Wednesday work. Sounds fun." And she'd never turn down free food, especially if a decently attractive guy was offering to pay. Everything with Sousa was still a little fresh, but being with him opened her up to the prospect of dating after Lincoln died. She wasn't looking for anything serious by any means, hence her breaking things off with Daniel, but she didn't mind grabbing lunch with someone and having some fun. After all these years she'd finally accepted that she deserved it.
BOBBI MORSE (616): “You’re an absolute dog, Clint Barton.” Bobbi laughed. “And I love you for that.” Bobbi had drank enough that she could say it unabashedly.  He knew a part of her loved him -- and likely always would. She broke the moment in order to pound back a shot. “Do we keep up the flirting or are you going to follow me to the bathroom?”
MATT MURDOCK (MCU): Matt's eyes widened when he felt Jen nearly stumble over and without even thinking about it he reached forward and helped hold her now smaller figure upright. He automatically knew exactly where to reach out as he firmly held onto her waist and chuckled softly. "I think you're cut off. The dress does feel nice, though. Are those sequins?"
ERIK LEHNSHERR (616): "Does he now?" Max remained stoic, even though the tone of his voice took on a sour note. "That is a bold request. Of course, you are not the first person to ask for something of this nature. It's become quite common as of late, and my answer to you will be the same as it has been to everyone else: no."
JEAN GREY (616): Even though she knew she was on duty, Jean was sorely disappointed when Logan chimed into her mind. Scott was still dancing with Emma in some angry waltz, leaving Jean free to take Jon Hamm by the hands. “I’m so sorry,” she released him as she stepped back. “Rain check?” Jon nodded with a smile and Jean weaved through the crowd. I’m on my way. What’s wrong? Do I need back-up?
ELSA BLOODSTONE (616): There was a laugh. “Don’t you worry your furry little head. I don’t plan on ever speaking with myself. One is enough.” Elsa was a decently confident woman. She looked around for the bar. “Are you stable enough to drink?”
CLINT BARTON (616): Clint wasn't at all taken aback by Bobbi saying she loved him. He loved her too, and probably always would. That was just the type of relationship they had, even if they could never make a marriage work in the long term. The short term was still fun, though, and they enjoyed plenty of it. "Guess my ace worked." He quipped as he wrapped his arm around her waist and practically pulled her up onto her feet.
JACK RUSSELL (MCU): Jack nodded slightly at her question as he rubbed the back of his head. "A drink sounds nice, actually." Maybe it would help him get a good nights sleep once they finally left, because God knows he needed it. Full moons weren't exactly the most restful. "Just one, though. It's probably not a great idea to get drunk."
MARY JANE WATSON (616): God, she was into him. Even with the glowing suit on. “Idea,” MJ proposed even though she had just gotten a drink. She stood on her toes to whisper something not appropriate for the general public. She took his hand with a wicked smile. “So, what do you say? Want to bail?”
STEPHEN STRANGE (MCU): Stephen stayed close behind as Clea initiated the conversation with Max, and he could tell immediately that it wasn't going to go in any sort of direction that she'd like. They knew that from the start, but now it was actually happening and Stephen felt like he was watching a car crash as he stood behind them and kept his face as neutral as possible.
LOGAN HOWLETT (616): Spider-Man says that someone sent a message for help in morse code. Logan waited for her, glancing over at the spider-kid to make sure he was still there. I don't know, the kid was frantic when he came back inside. Figured you could take a look, see if everything is where it should be. Once Jean reached him, he walked back to Spider-Man and motioned for him to lead them outside. There was a lone person there waiting for them.
CRYSTALIA AMAQUELIN (616): Not talking about it was perfectly fine by Crystal. Even though it was a bad idea, she still opened her mouth to say that “Luna’s with Pietro this weekend. Come home with me? Just for a drink so I can take this dress off.”
PETER QUILL (MCU): Before Rocket could protest, Quill slugged down the rest of his drink, grinning somewhat sheepishly as he set the glass back down on the bar top, “You’re gonna have to drag me out of here, man.”
WANDA MAXIMOFF (MCU): Knowing this was not her fight, Wanda squeezed Erik’s arm once before bowing out of the conversation.
PETER PARKER (616): Peter swallowed thickly, his heart rate spiking ever so slightly at MJ’s words. He quickly downed the rest of his drink in one go - for confidence - before depositing his empty glass at a table as he allowed MJ to lead him out of the ballroom, “You don’t have to ask me twice.”
MARY JANE WATSON (616): Yeah, they went and @#$@#.
BRIAN BRADDOCK (616): "No, please, don't apologize." Brian insisted, his hand still on Meggan's stomach as he grinned at her and wiped at his eyes with a soft chuckle of disbelief. Pregnant. She was pregnant. "This is a welcome addition to my plate, genuinely. I'm glad you've told me now." Beyond glad, actually. He was elated. Moving to grab her hand, he tugged her towards the other direction. "Let's get out of here. We can go celebrate in the comfort of home."
JOHNNY STORM (616): Johnny hesitated for a moment, but the opportunity felt too good to pass up. This might never happen again. He tried to suppress the smile but failed, grinning like a kid on Christmas morning, “Hey, I’m always happy to help.”
JEAN GREY: “What?” Jean spoke aloud. “Yeah, of course. Show me what’s going on.” Outside, she picked up the frantic thoughts of Spider-man. It was a stark contrast to the dead silence from the girl. “I can’t read her mind?” Jean looked to Logan. “There’s some kind of barrier or block there. A strong one, at that.”
JIMMY HUDSON (1610): "Alright alright, I'll take some credit. I’m pretty impressive." He said with a laugh, Jimmy got a dumb smile for a just a moment as she punched his arm. "It's cute. Makes me feel like you're being your genuine self." He smiled for a moment after she agreed to grab a bite Wednesday before looking off to the coast at the moon shining over the water. "Let’s sit for a second. Wanted to take in this view." He said not so gracefully plopping down onto the sand and taking another strong swig from the bottle.
MILES MORALES (1610): Miles hesitated as he gently cupped Lana's cheek and smiled at her, knowing that she was catching his drift as he leaned in and then instead planted a kiss on her cheek. It was a cowards move, but the shellfish thing was really freaking him out. "I think the plans have changed, actually. What do you say I swing us out to grab some food? Non... shellfish stuff, of course."
CLEA STRANGE (616): “No. No. You see -- that’s not good enough. This is no ordinary instance. Do you know what the world lost when he died? We need him back.”
JENNIFER WALTER (MCU): “...He did make that strong.” Jen blinked a few times. Matt’s hand was solid at her waist and brought a smile to her face. “I think you’re cut off.” She tapped him. “But yes, sequins and glass beads.”
LANA BAUMGARTNER (1610): Her face instantly warmed when he kissed her cheek. Lana knew she was blushing, but she still put a gentle hand on his face and gently guided her lips towards his own into a real kiss. She pulled back, hoping that was okay. “I like food. I like you, too. A lot.”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): "Yeah yeah. You're just being nice." Daisy insisted, but there was a smile on her face as she stopped walking with him and took a seat next to him, nearly falling onto her ass from the sudden shift in weight as she leaned back onto the sand and stared up at the sky. As she took another sip from the bottle, she was pleasantly surprised that it didn't taste like much anymore. This was nice, just sitting out there on the beach and enjoying the silence for awhile. Recently it didn't feel like she got a lot of moments like that now that she was in the city and continuing her work with S.H.I.E.L.D.
ELSA BLOODSTONE (616): Signaling the bartender, Elsa ordered herself a whiskey sour before looking at Jack to see what he wanted. “I happen to have a famously high alcohol tolerance. I’m not sure if it’s the Bloodstone, but it’s bloody annoying.”
MILES MORALES (1610): Miles froze at the kiss, any worries about the shellfish and potentially putting her into anaphylactic shock vanishing when her lips pressed against his. His eyes were still closed under his mask for a few seconds before he blinked and nodded. "Y-Yeah. Same. I like you too. Also a lot. Now.. uh, food?"
LANA BAUMGARTNER (1610): She had just kissed him, and he was really focused on food. Lana blinked once. “Uh, yeah. Food. Let’s go get some. These finger foods are too @#$@# crazy for me.” She extended a hand.
LAYLA EL-FAOULY (MCU): It felt wrong for Layla to be the one to expose Jake Lockely. She didn’t want that to be her job. Steven had questions, though, and some she can answer. “Khonshu and I have been... acquainted, as of late. It’s a long story, Steven. I didn’t want it to come out like this. Not here.”
PETER PARKER (MCU): "You can't get inside her mind? That's bad right? That sounds bad. And she isn't acting like herself!" Peter paced in a small circle next to Logan. "Is there tech that can block telepathic signals? There's gotta be. I am so not used to dealing with mutants! If it's tech, it's probably got to be near her. Somewhere in the building?" He paused to look inside, then shook his head. "No, on her. On her would be better. OH! The necklace!" He ran away from the scene without saying a word to Logan or Jean, web-swinging around the event until he saw Daisy on the beach. When he landed in the sand, a dozen puffins scattered up around him and he quickly apologized to them before running over to Daisy. "No time to explain but I need your help quaking a necklace off my girlf— friend!" He ran back the other way, expecting her to follow.
MATT MURDOCK (MCU): "Feels like it's working for you, though. I will say." Matt smiled lightheartedly as he helped stabilize Jen and gently leaned her away from the bar. "Come on, I'll call us a car."
JACK RUSSELL (MCU): Jack ordered himself something fruity as he waited alongside Elsa and chuckled softly. "Same here, actually. But the werewolf part kind of explains it. It must be the Bloodstone then. I do agree, it's very annoying. Kind of kills any chance at fun, honestly."
JEAN GREY: “What did you pull me away from Jon Hamm for?” Jean asked, turning to Logan.
MOIRA MACTAGGERT (616): Her real face peeped through that of the student, Moira’s lips already downturned into a frown. “Stay out of this, both of you. Tell the kid to as well. This involves none of you.”
ELSA BLOODSTONE (616): “You’ve been a werewolf for a minute now, yeah? I’m getting the sense you weren’t a big partier before that.”
JENNIFER WALTERS (MCU): “I’m so sorry,” Jen tried to hide how her words were slurring together. “I was planning on being She-Hulk until we got home, and then -- yes. A car. That’s good.” She obediently moved away from the bar as well. “My place or yours?”
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): Daisy was enjoying the drunkenness that was washing over her as she actually laid down on the sand, pulling some through her hand and letting it sift through her fingertips as she closed her eyes, but then suddenly a bunch of puffins were squawking and she flinched at the sound of Spider-man running towards them. "A necklace? What?" She slurred out, not following anything the kid was trying to say. But suddenly he was sprinting away just as fast and she grumbled to herself as she struggled to stand up. Once she managed to get onto her feet, she steadied herself and playfully saluted at Jimmy. "Duty calls, I guess. We're still on for Wednesday, though." And with that, she stumbled her way back over to the main hall, where the Gala was still very much in full swing. It took her awhile to make her way back to Peter, but eventually she halted when he reached a balcony and she hiccuped softly. "I'm gonna need you to tell me whats going on, because I didn't get like, any of that back there. You talk sooo fast."
MATT MURDOCK (MCU): "There's nothing to apologize for, Jen. I'm sure its a weird adjustment to find your alcohol tolerance." It had to be rough trying to balance it between She-Hulk and Jen. He didn't hold any of it against her at all. "Mine works if that's okay with you."
ERIK LEHNSHERR (616): "Every instance that is brought to my attention is 'no ordinary instance'. You are not a mutant, and you have the same fatal flaw that all non-mutants have— never learning that you are owed nothing from us!"
LOGAN HOWLETT (616): Before he could answer, Moira's face appeared over the girl's and his claws unsheathed. "That. That is what." He paused. "Who the fuck is Jon Hamm?"
CLEA STRANGE (616): Clea was a woman on the verge. Of what, she wasn’t sure. A tantrum? A mental breakdown? Her gown vanished in a shower of purple sparks, revealing the Cloak of Levitation that she had been wearing with a glamour all along. “You are not a god.” She thrust a finger towards him. “You do not get to dictate how the scales are balanced. It is not about being owed. This is about bettering the world you also live in.”
JEAN GREY (616): “Not the main takeaway here, Logan.” Jean hissed while mentally filing away to make Logan watch Mad Men next time he came over. “What do you want, Moira? Let her go.”
MOIRA MACTAGGERT (616): “It’s like I said, this involves none of you.” She had already taken the evening to talk to her son, Proteus. She had also gotten an inside scoop on the Gala. “I’m free to dispose of my host as I see fit.” With that, the necklace constricted around the girl’s throat as she disconnected.
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): Both hands instantly rose to claw at her throat, the silver of the necklace blocking her throat.
STEVEN GRANT (MCU): "Acquainted?! You're-- you're bloody joking, aren't you? Having a laugh or something? Because this.. this isn't funny, Layla. What the hell could you and Khonshu have to talk about?" Steven felt bad that he was raising his voice at her, but this was all just way too overwhelming for him not to. They were done with Khonshu, weren't they? He'd released the both of them, per their deal. The both of them. "Oh, no.. No, no, no, no." His heart was pounding in his ears as he lifted his hands up to the side of his face and gripped at his hair. When he tried to take a deep breath, it just got caught in his chest as he panted and shook his head. Throwing his hands down, tears were brimming in his eyes as he locked onto Layla's gaze again. "You knew about this? The whole time? About him? And you didn't tell us? And Taweret... are you.." His words were harder to come by, and Steven felt like he was underwater all of a sudden as his vision became unfocused and everything faded from view. When he opened his eyes again, Jake was standing there in his place and looking very confused as he glanced around. "What happened?"
STEPHEN STRANGE (MCU): Stephen tensed up when Clea revealed the cloak, wishing that she had left the theatrics at home for something like this. It wasn't a good idea to provoke any of these mutants, let alone Magneto. But he was there at the ready to step in, even if he didn't want to. He knew it would hurt her, and maybe even make her feel like he wasn't in her corner, but he couldn't let her cause any kind of physical altercation. She had every right to speak her piece, but rage was a powerful thing. And a dangerous one, at that.
PETER PARKER (MCU): "Okay. Sorry." Peter stopped to take a breath. He unconsciously loosened his tie and was starting to pace again. "This is MJ, Michelle Jones, I know her. She's supposed to be in Boston but randomly showed up here, and when I tried to talk to her she seemed really off. And kept saying the same thing over and over, which is weird right? Something was wrong and I couldn't figure out what, at first I was afraid she was having a stroke or something. But then I heard her tap out HELP and that's when these two showed up. Apparently they can't read her mind, which made me think that there had to be something blocking it. And then I thought, hey! She's not wearing the black dahlia! She has that other necklace on and it is not her style— well, the entire outfit isn't. And then I remembered that you can focus vibrations on specific objects and could probably get it off of her—" He was cut off by the sound of MJ choking, and he whipped around. "What are you doing to her? Let her go!"
DAISY JOHNSON (AOS): Daisy was attempting to follow Spider-man's words, but he was rambling so fast all of a sudden and she was way too drunk to process most of it. She caught something about a black dahlia and HELP, and then the part about the necklace... And then everyone whipped around to see that it was tightening around the young girl-- Michelle's-- throat. "Oh God, okay.." She didn't have her gauntlets on, and she'd drank half a bottle of tequila, but she could handle this. She could totally handle this. It was just like that time in Kitson, only the room was spinning a lot more and she could barely stand on her two feet. She held her hand out in front of her and closed one eye, praying to herself that she didn't accidentally quake MJ off the balcony as she made her best attempt to send a shockwave directly at the necklace around her neck. Once she tapped into its vibrations, she had to reach over and catch herself on Spider-man's shoulder with her free hand as she ripped the necklace apart from the inside out, shattering it entirely and sending beads flying every which direction. All of her energy was spent on shooting the shockwave out, though, and she didn't even stop the knock back from it as it sent her knocking down onto the ground.
ERIK LEHNSHERR (616): "I never claimed to be a god, Clea. But there are many other things I have claimed throughout my life, and do you know how I claimed them? By fighting. And clawing. And taking every chance I was given to get to where I am now." He watched as her cloak appeared and took a step closer to her, defiant. "I have bettered this world in ways that you cannot see, and refuse to see. And I will not let you take what my people have rightfully earned simply because you feel personally scorned!"
LAYLA EL-FAOULY (MCU): She wished she was kidding. She really, really wished. Layla’s lips flattened into a straight line, taken aback by Steven’s elevated tone. He had never raised his voice at her before, but she deserved it. This time, she really did. It would be pointless to apologize again, so Layla spoke the truth for the first time in months. “I’m an Avatar for Taweret. I have been, ever since Harrow. I wanted to figure it out on my own before I came to Marc -- before I came to you. And the other guy...” She didn’t say his name. “He caught me. I should have told you, Steven, I know, but I didn’t know how to. I --” He broke down into a full panic attack. Layla moved forward to grab him by either arm, attempting to calm him down. That all went to shit when the switch happened, and she quickly dropped him. “Your friend Khonshu decided to show up. ציפור טיפשה ( stupid bird ).” She spat. “Steven found about me. About us. He panicked.”
JENNIFER WALTERS (MCU): “Your place has nice windows.” Jen reached down to pull off her shoes. She and Matt guided each other out into the waiting car. Reader, you know what went down after.
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): Black was beginning to eat its way into her vision. Michelle’s attempts to claw the necklace off were becoming more and more feeble until she stopped entirely. She was swaying to the side just went the vibrations hit, and the force sent her flying backwards as the necklace shattered. Back hitting the railing, the girl sucked in a much needed breath but stayed down.
CLEA STRANGE (616): “I am not afraid of a fight.” Clea’s voice was iron lined. “I will fight for this reality -- and all others -- with every breath in me.” Spurred on by her rage, purple energy glowed at her fingertips. “No matter what you have been through, you have not earned exclusive immortality.”
PETER PARKER (MCU): "MJ!" He ran over to her after making sure Daisy was steady. When he got to her he immediately fell to his knees and gently took hold of her shoulders. "Hey, MJ. Are you alright?"
JAKE LOCKLEY (MCU): Jake didn't know Arabic, but he could only assume that was a dig at Khonshu. And a deserved one at that. "Mierda.." He mumbled under his breath once the body calmed down enough for him to actually be able to take one. He was used to coming to in situations like these and pulling himself together when he needed to, but a nagging pit pulled at his stomach when he realized what was to come. They knew. It was all out in the open now, including Layla's continued stint with Taweret. Taking a quick look at their surroundings, Jake realized that they must be at that Gala that Steven was so excited to take Layla to. And he'd inadvertently ruined it. "I'm sorry. This is my fault.. I ruined your nice date." He ruined a lot more than that, actually, but it felt right to own up and apologize to her.
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): “Peter Parker?” MJ blinked back stars. She was still gasping for air slightly and it took a minute to catch her breath. Why did her back hurt? Why did everything hurt? “I’m not supposed to be -- where am I?” Also, what was she wearing? She could see a few strands of renegade hair and her dark curls had been replaced with straight maroon locks.
LAYLA EL-FAOULY (MCU): As much as she hated to, Layla shook her head. “No, not entirely. We knew what would happen. I knew what would happen, but I lied all the same. I have to deal with this now.” Maybe not at that exact moment, though. “Marc, is he-- is he nearby?” She asked. Steven was too worked up.
ERIK LEHNSHERR (616): The entire room started to shake, and metal started to float into the air— utensils, mostly. They slowly began to gravitate towards him and direct themselves at Clea. "Careful, Clea. You are not the only one not afraid of a fight. And you have no right to tell me what I have or have not earned."
STEPHEN STRANGE (MCU): That was it, Stephen couldn't stand by any longer and watch this continue to escalate any further than it already had. There was purple energy emanating off of Clea's fingers and kitchen utensils in the air and he was pretty sure that if he waited any longer they would be getting into a full on fight. Orange sparks separated the two of them as Stephen stepped in between them and moved his hands in a clockwise motion to conjure up a portal that went directly back to the Sanctum. Gates be damned. "Clea. We're leaving." His tone was firm and not up for debate as he shook his head. "You're putting everyone in danger right now. It isn't worth taking more lives in exchange for Stephen's. Come on. Let's go."
PETER PARKER (MCU): "Yeah— yeah, it's me. Peter Parker." He was smiling now. She was back, and it felt like a little piece of him healed when she said his name. "Uhm— that's kind of a long story." He let out a nervous chuckle and gently moved a few strands of hair out of her face before clearing his throat, and dropping his hands. "You're at the Hellfire Gala. And, well— I don't really know what just happened, but you're okay now. That's what's important.”
JAKE LOCKLEY (MCU): "We both will. I'll tell them I tried to blackmail you with it.. Maybe that'll ease the blame a bit off of you." It wasn't entirely a lie either, Jake did threaten her several times with telling both of them about her whereabouts. "If they're gonna hate me already, may as well throw that on there too." Running his fingers through their hair to try and slick some of it back and off of his face, Jake prodded for a few quiet seconds before shaking his head. "No, they're both gone. I can't sense them at all." Again, his fault. Letting out a soft sigh, he rubbed the back of his neck and tugged at the dress shirt he was wearing. This was not his scene, at all. "We should go. I'm sure Marc will be around in the morning."
CLEA STRANGE (616): He wanted a fight and she’d bring a war. Clea was gearing up to raise her hands and step forward when Steven cut in between them. Betrayal roiled her to her core. “Stephen,” her protest was in vain as the portal opened up. “We will finish this.” She all but spat at Erik. With a swish of her Cloak, Clea left the Gala.
JEAN GREY (616): “Moira Mactaggert happened.” Jean’s voice was grim. “That doesn’t mean anything for you anymore, but it’s a problem for us. I’m sorry, Miss...” she checked the girls mind. “Jones. I can erase this if you want. For both of you, if it’s less traumatic.”
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): The guy from the coffee shop was being oddly affectionate. Had she not been utterly traumatized, she would have clocked that as kind of weird. As it stood, she was laying half on him while clinging to his arm. “Erase it? Like in my head?” This had to be one of those mutants. “I can’t imagine someone taking something from my mind.”
ERIK LEHNSHERR (616): A few seconds after Clea and Strange left, all the floating metal in the room came crashing down loudly onto the floor. He was left alone and fuming, trying to catch his breath.
WANDA MAXIMOFF (616): As the orange portal died down, Wanda returned to her fathers side. “Maybe it’s best if we retire,” her voice was low. Had it actually came to blows she would have stepped in, but other than that Wanda was avoiding conflict.
LAYLA EL-FAOULY (MCU): “We’ll tell them the truth.” Layla’s voice was firm. “No more lies. They both deserve to know what actually happened.” There was both disappointment and relief that Marc was gone. Now that it was out, Layla was restless. She wanted to talk to him about it and apologize. She also knew that a little space was a good thing. “You’re right,” Layla said, as much as she didn’t want to agree with him. Without another word, she headed to the Gate. They could reconvene in the morning.
PETER PARKER (MCU): Peter's first instinct was panic. The idea of any more erased memories made him feel sick, but it dawned on him that he was going to have to make the hard choice a second time. He glanced down to the ground for a long second, trying to rid himself of the lump in his throat. Then he stood up, and offered MJ a hand to pull her to her feet. "It's not as bad as it sounds." His voice was just above a whisper, sadness barely frosted over with assurance. "Trust me." He looked to Jean, tears welling in the corners of his eyes, and told her telepathically what needed to be done. He would keep the memories. And she would lose them. To keep her safe.
MICHELLE JONES (MCU): Climbing to her feet, MJ held onto his hand. She didn’t want to let him go, for some reason. Her feet were unsteady in high heels -- she never wore them and wasn’t sure why she put them on or when she’d bough them. “What?” Her head snapped to Peter. “No, I don’t want --”
JEAN GREY (616): It was never easy to erase the memories of someone non-consensually.  It was even harder when they were young. Jean’s eyes glowed pink before the girl quieted, recognition fading away. “She’ll be fine,” she advised Peter. “Get her home. We’ll look for Moira and make sure she doesn’t target her again.” With that, she looked to Logan. “They’re about the announce the new X-Men team and I need to be there.”
PETER PARKER (MCU): MJ fell limp into his arms and Peter caught her easily. He let out a shaky sigh of relief, and looked to Jean again. "Thank you." He gave Logan a nod as he walked by to head home.
JEAN GREY (616): The rest of the Gala went smoothly -- all things considered. The new X-Men team was announced to great celebration. Some were familiar: Jean, Scott, Synch. Others were new: Firestar, Iceman, Forge, Magik and Havok. In the end, it all worked out. The issues of the night were not resolved entirely but put to rest for the evening. All in all, it was a Gala to remember. Aren’t they all?
