@strengthisyellow, I absolutely understand your frustration and of course you're right and I'll come back to why later, but first I want to use this as a jumping off point about
⭐German Vowels⭐
⭐Number of German Vowels
German has a LOT of them. Out of 564 languages surveyed by WALS, 93 had 2-4 vowels (16%), 287 had 5-6 vowels (51%) and 184 had 7-14 vowels (33%) German has 8 vowels letters (a, e, i, o, u, ä, ö, ü <- graphemes). Yet we have 16 vowel sounds (phonemes)! (not counting diphthongs here)
The number 16 comes about, because most vowel can be realized long/shortly (gespannt vs. ungespannt). Minimal pairs (two different words that only differ in exactly one sound) are a great way to show this:
These minimal pairs can also give you an idea of how the phonologial differences are marked in the spelling!
⭐Vowel-amounts in various languages
Here's a comparison of different languages and their vowels (without diphthongs, because those are the combination of two adjacent vowel sounds).
⭐L1-phoneme inventory
Now what's super interesting about learning a first language, is that shortly after birth, babies can hear and distinguish all possible sounds (across the world, there are around 600 consonant sounds and 200 vowel sounds; in sum, 800 different phones), yet at 10-12 months old, they can only distinguish those sounds present in their first language (aka their language's phonemes)! A japanese child, for example, would hear no difference betwen "radio" and "ladio", because /l/ and /r/ are not phonemes in Japanese.
I get to encounter this first hand with German-learners who struggle to produce, but most importantly even hear the difference between [ˈmʊtɐ ] (Mutter; mother) and [ˈmʏtɐ] (Mütter, mothers). (So far, I've specifically asked beginner/intermediate students with en-US and es-MX as their L1 about this - both US-English and (Mexican) Spanish do not have [ʏ] as a phoneme, so they get generalized and instead perceived as [ʊ].
Put simply, within its first year, a baby builds up a "phoneme inventory" made up of all the sounds that make a difference in its language, and loses the ability to distinguish between the ones that don't because those simply don't matter.
Good news is that you can and likely will train yourself to hear and distinguish sounds outside your current phoneme inventory (depending on your phoneme inventory and your TL's phonemes, this might be harder or easier).
⭐German Vowels and Spoonerisms
Back to the schulkrank-tags: The issue lies not as much in the letters as in the sounds, but OP continues to be right. "kühl" and "kuhl" are NOT the same, because they differ in a phoneme, which (by definition) changes the meaning of the word. What's additionally interesting, is that spoonerisms (switching of sounds or morphemes between two words of a phrase, like "blushing crow" instead of "crushing blow") are much more likely to occur if the words that come out of it are real words again! ("The Lord is a shoving leopard." (instead of "a loving shepherd") is more likely than "The shord is a loving leopard" because "shord" isn't a real word)
The US-American coworker (who probably speaks a little German if he enjoys German spoonerisms) made "schulkrank" out of "Kühlschrank". That is something a native would never do because instead of merely switching sounds, he switched and changed one, thus it's not a real spoonerism anymore. Yet to him it was probably entirely correct because he literally doesn't hear a difference.
#i love this#i'll properly cite my sources in the replies#asap#german#linguistics#vowels#langblr#lingblr#learning german#spoonerism#Language-learning linguistics are so so much fun!!!!!

Everybody Wanna Take Her Heart Away
REQUEST: Hi hiii~ First off, a happy birthday to you! 🥳🎂 Wishing lots of happiness in life 💖 I've read some of your works and I really like your writing style! I saw your Mostro Lounge event and it took me a while to decide (because there's so many options that are sooo good; I'm indecisive haha) but I finally chose one! So I'm wondering if I could request F!Reader x Azul with the song "Steal My Girl" from the Azul to You playlist you made? I was thinking about a scenario where someone keeps pestering F!Reader to go out on a date with them (even if she already said no) and then Azul saves the day! Swooping in, holding you close by the waist, declaring "find another 'cause she belongs to me" (you get the reference 👀 haha) But I understand you already have a general idea for each so no worries~ Also, I'm sorry if this was long hahaha Again, happy birthday! Sending you cakes!! 🎂🎂🎂 Thank youuuu! ✨❤️ - @escha-evenstar
SUMMARY: Azul doesn't like how other people flirt with you. WORD COUNT: ~600
WARNINGS: Ace flirting(??) with you and making you uncomfortable, Ace does not get any hints, Azul is protective and a bit too jealous maybe?? Azul also maybe be a bit ooc. A/N: Okay so I'm not really comfortable with writing an explicitly female reader (it gives me gender dysphoria) so I did make this more neutral - however, I did try to make it as fem as I could, but I'm sorry if it's not specifically what you wanted! I love how I started writing this a month after your request, life's been hectic and I keep making rp blogs (to procrastinate on my homework). Someone needs to stop me. (I also started playing JP Twisted Wonderland too... I have a problem). I'm so sorry this is so late!! Thanks for the happy birthday wishes, I can't even believe I'm a year older now... Wow. For this event.

Azul didn't like this.
There you were, sitting all pretty and gorgeous. And he didn't mind that - he loved seeing you.
The problem in question was with Ace.
The first year had been coming up to you what seemed like every day, asking you to go on a date.
And sure, Azul knew that you wouldn't agree - you weren't the type of person to do something like that - but that didn't mean that he wasn't jealous.
He knew that he didn't make your relationship that public. Sometimes holding hands, walking you to class… That was mostly it. Most of the Octavinelle students, as well as some of the second years, knew, but other than that? Hardly anyone.
And anyways, he didn't want you to get more attention than was necessary.
Maybe Ace didn't know, and that was why he was doing this… But surely Grim had told him. Unless Grim had a problem with him too…
He gritted his teeth as Ace sidled up to you again, a casual arm slipping around your shoulders. Though, a small smile crossed his lips as he saw you shake his arm off.
"C'mon, kantokusei. One date?" Ace nudged you gently, a grin on his face. "C'mon, I know you like me~"
Azul sighed softly, feeling a small pang in his chest. Perhaps Ace wasn't entirely wrong, and that was why you hadn't given him a hard no? Yes, he saw you push Ace away multiple times, tell him to stop… But obviously it hadn't been harsh enough to drive off Ace.
Still, a nagging feeling in him told him that perhaps you weren't able to be assertive enough to get Ace to listen. Maybe he should jump in…
Over the past couple of weeks, you had gradually grown uncomfortable around Ace. You viewed him as a friend - just that, nothing more and nothing less.
But he seemed to view you as something more. And that definitely made you feel less than friendly toward the first year.
Even as he tried to touch your arm again, you whacked his hand away. "Stop it, Ace."
"But-"
The orange-haired male was cut off as Azul walked up to the two of you, a casual arm wrapping around your waist as he pulled you closer to him.
"What seems to be the matter?" Azul's voice, though polite, had a bit of an edge to it. His eyes were slightly narrowed, annoyance flashing in his gaze.
"Hey, I was just being friendly toward kantokusei, and teasing them a little bit-"
"That is definitely not the case, and both of us know it. Find another person because kantokusei-san belongs to me."
Azul's voice was cold - it was pretty clear that he was at his limit.
Ace seemed to back off after that, turning and walking away. You breathed a sigh of relief before you looked at Azul.
"Thank you for that," you said softly, moving to hug him tightly.
"Of course. It's my duty as your boyfriend." Azul was glad that you were happy - it seemed he had made the right call. He would have to make sure Jade and Floyd kept a closer eye on Ace… There was no telling how he could start harassing you again.
Still, as he held you close to him, he felt himself relax. Everything was fine - you were content, you were safe, and most of all? You were his.
As always, reblogs and comments are always appreciated! ♡ Send your thoughts grr

i started naruto a few years ago and made it to like the second arc in shippuden before stopping so i never made it to the kakashi backstory but....your notes compel me. tell me more.
okay so like take this with several grains of salt because the sum total of my sources here are "my understanding of the plot and characters as synthesized from the Abridged Revised Illustrated Edition my datemate's been writing me over the last two months", a handful of clips, and the only three (3) episodes of this 600+ episode show i've seen in my life, none of the three of which were relevant to the kakashi backstory
h o w e v e r
oh my god. my dude. my man. [holds him up like longcat] there is so much wrong with you and i'm enthralled.
so like here's the thing. here's the big takeaway that i'm understanding. this whole series is an ongoing exercise in generational trauma bullshit and everyone trying so hard to course-correct from their own tragic backstories that they accidentally set up their kids/students to have completely different but still somehow exactly the same tragic backstories, and naruto's chronic case of shounen anime power-of-friendship-itis is, i mean. yes it's him being the platonic ideal of Pure Of Heart And Dumb Of Ass but it's also a direct response to seeing ninja society's perpetual tragic backstory generator and going "this is bullshit, why are we even fighting? tell me what your side is, and i'll tell you what our side is, and then we can figure out how to make our sides the same side so none of us have to fight about it at all!" and honestly i love that but this ain't about him
so like. to explain kakashi we have to explain kakashi's father sakumo first. because sakumo was one of konoha's powerhouses, been on tons of successful missions, well-liked, well-respected, one of the earliest and loudest adopters of konoha's then-new and radical pivot towards a ninja being people first and disposable tools never ideology.
he really, genuinely believed in that.
except then he and his team went on a mission. and it went really, really badly. and he had to choose between completing the mission objective or saving his teammates' lives, and he chose their lives, because those who fail their missions may be scum, but those who abandon their teammates are worse, right?
... no, actually.
just because the ideology had been circulating and people were broadly toeing the party line didn't mean they actually believed in it, and sakumo's mission failure was already causing critical backlash.after sakumo made it back to konoha he was a fucking pariah for it. he was never officially reprimanded, but he didn't need to be if people went out of their way to personally spit at his feet, and... one day young kakashi comes home to find his father's body on the floor, wrists slit and suicide note devolving into begging apologies beside him.
this, as you may imagine, fucked him up, and didn't exactly predispose him towards believing the party line about the value of life.
he gets put on a genin team that was. basically the alpha build of the sasuke-sakura-naruto team dynamic. because it was him, and rin the healer girl with a massive crush on him who he never gave the time of day, and obito the Loudest High-Vis Uchiha Who Ever Lived who had a massive crush on her, and minato their teacher who was doing his absolute best to try and get them through to understanding each other, which is an Ordeal
because kakashi at this point has internalized that the party line is pretty lies for the gullible, that his teammates are only there to drag him down, and it drives obito nuts because that's the same exact bullshit that his family keeps spouting that he's rejected as thoroughly as a 12.9-year-old can, how does kakashi not see that it's bullshit? and there's rin who's looking at kakashi like i can fix him?? and getting upset when he doesn't let them in at all or even really visibly care that they're trying, and it's one hell of a dysfunction junction but minato is working on it.
... and then the worst happens. their team is caught out alone and everything goes wrong. rin is captured and obito's body is half-crushed under a rock and one of kakashi's eyes got slashed out and none of them are going to make it out of this, at this rate, until obito calls kakashi closer and tells him to take his eye. take the sharingan. he'd give him both but the other one got squished. kakashi will do more with it than obito ever did, so use it to save rin. please. and here's kakashi in the middle of field surgery on his dying teammate finally, horribly realizing that sometimes the win condition is, actually, protecting your friends, and he's already lost. but he can still try to save rin, it was obito's dying wish.
by the time he found her it was already too late.
the people who'd captured her had tried, poorly, hastily, messily, to seal one of the Tailed Beasts into her, and she was already dying. she had a demon thrashing in her soul that was tearing her to shreds around it and all kakashi could do was mercy kill her
and she thanked him for it.
and he goes back to konoha, sole survivor of his team, charred by the newfound comprehension of why you have to care and what it feels like to lose what you love and with obito's sharingan in his head and rin's blood on his hands and something in him that was already hanging on by a thread finally snapped.
and the only thing he could think to do, the only way he could even parse that grief through, is to just... make himself into a living memorial to them. he started trying to live as obito. adopt his mannerisms, his interests, craft his entire adult persona around his memories of his friend like a grave offering, and quarantine the bleakly mercenary anything-to-get-the-job-done ice in him off into the hound mask he wore as part of konoha's black ops division, which he joined at the ripe old age of way too fucking young.
he uses the sharingan to incredibly brutally efficient effect, copying enemy jutsus and bringing them back until the library's overflowing with them. but in the end, no matter how many he can technically use, they're still just cheap copies. and so is he.
and in the meantime the uchiha are collectively losing their shit about this random outside kid having one of their eyes in his head and getting all kinds of dubious 'glory' with it, and oh, wouldn't you look at that, they have a prodigy too!
... yeah.
itachi gets shoved through the rank advancements on a timeframe of "whatever he did you have to do it faster and better." and then the kyuubi broke free. and minato and kushina died, and a fuckton of the home guard uchiha died, and suddenly he's the most able-bodied fighter in their clan overnight at age 11 and the uchiha pull strings to get him into ANBU as well.
and kakashi is his teammate.
kakashi is his teammate and kakashi sees in itachi a whole awful lot of the edges of the way kakashi used to be, sees itachi trying to live up to and embody the absolutely impossible ideal of the perfect ninja, and he tries so god damn hard to nudge him gently towards something, anything, other than that.
but in the meantime, the uchiha have been... scheming. with danzo, Guy With The World's Biggest Chip On His Shoulder About Not Being Hokage, who's been marinating in a paranoia spiral for years. danzo had tried to set himself up as kakashi's palpatine, and tried to get him to assassinate hiruzen, and kakashi hears him out, and turns right around and goes to hiruzen with it instead, and danzo is pissed. the uchiha are pissed. danzo warns hiruzen that they're almost definitely going to try again and they're gonna make the uchihas' little prodigy do it this time, and kakashi silently braces to have to fight and maybe kill his teammate he was trying so hard for, and then...
and then itachi, who'd been watching his clan get. worse. for a long time. finds his cousin shisui, his best friend shishui, bleeding out in the dirt, who tells him everything, tells him danzo tried to have shisui killed for finding it out, and it worked, he's dying, but he's not dead yet, so please. make it count.
.......................................... And Then The Uchiha Massacre.
and now itachi is one more person that kakashi tried to care about who got destroyed.
and then fast forward a little bit further, he's been retired from active-duty ANBU after a decade-plus of service because the sharingan is starting to burn him out, he's starting to lurch to a halt like unwound clockwork without something to Do, and... he gets given team seven. the worst of konoha's gremlin children.
a bitter, disillusioned loner with a chip on his shoulder and the skill to back it up, the healer girl with a crush on him that he never gives the time of day, and the Loudest High-Vis Pest In The Village.
you see where this is going.
kakashi who at this point has been coasting along by bouncing between mask-personae for years is now having to dynamically engage with life again because if he isn't present and actively responding to his team then there's a nonzero chance he'll turn around to find all three of them chewing on the drywall and he cannot default to scripted responses because they don't work on a pack of middle schoolers hellbent on squabbling til the cows come home. and it's kind of good for him?
but also, uh. [gestures broadly towards... Sasuke(TM) and the rest of the plot]
and yeah i'm not gonna get too much further into it because i'm not confident enough in my own comprehension of the timeline to do that XD but like.
hatake kakashi is a scarecrow of a man stitched together out of his dead best friend, a hunting hound, and his dead best friend again, who's spent his entire life behind one mask or another, who over the course of the series keeps surviving shit that by all odds he shouldn't have, or survives specifically because the people he cares about throw their plot armor around him before they die, and he has a personality mostly composed of the crumpled-up pages of the memetically worst-written trashy bodice-ripper novels ever published because obito used to love them and the inexplicable receipts of other people's love for him, and i want to put him in a gas station hot dog roller and perceive him.
thank you for coming to my ted talk XD
#answered asks by cwaf#snorlaxlovesme#kakashi hatake#naruto#yeah so like this very much is a thirdhand synthesis Take on it XD but oh my god. holy shit#this series is a masterclass in what is quite possibly the oldest story beat humanity has ever had#which is 'growing up realizing that your adult is fucked up because Their Adult was fucked up because THEIR ADULT was fucked up'#'and responding to it by either becoming them; becoming as different from them as possible; or a secret third thing'#anyway here i am showing up to the weeb-ubiquitous kakashi stan phase 20 years late with starbucks lmao#mr from-accounting you have so many things wrong with you and i love that for me

Day 9 - Can't Sleep
Day 9 - Can't Sleep Prompt: 9: Anxiety + Alt: Insomnia Character: Matt Murdock Pairing: None Word Count: ~600 Warnings: Insomnia, low-self esteem, anxiety, mention of Stick, referenced child abandonment Taglist: @loves0phelia, @nowheredreamer, @beezusvreeland, @yarrystyleeza Tuna-Tober 2024 Masterlist
This story was originally written for my 300 Follower Celebration, a prompt sent in by @sunflowersandsapphires. But for Tuna-Tober, I've drawn some art for it.
Can't Sleep
Matt couldn’t sleep.
Not an unusual occurrence for him. His sleep schedule was terrible. Had been for years. Ever since the accident. Even with Stick’s training, he couldn’t seem to shut out the world enough to sleep sometimes. Tonight was one of those nights.
It seemed like every little sound in this building kept drilling into his ears. Foggy’s snores. People talking in the rec room. Other students in their dorms having sex or arguing. Or in the case of Jimmy and Amanda two floors up, both at the same time. People watching a movie or listening to music. The buzz of the lights, the rattling of the pipes, the flushing of toilets. The list went on and on. All perfectly normal sounds, typical for the student hall at night. No one was being particularly loud but for some reason Matt just couldn’t tune it out.
It didn’t help that his bed was uncomfortable. The laundry service had gotten backed up. So when Matt had accidentally spilled dinner all over his sheets, he didn’t have any fresh ones to put on. Foggy immediately offered his spare set so Matt wouldn’t have to sleep on a bare mattress until he got his spare sheets back. Or dirty ones got washed. Whichever came first.
Matt appreciated it. Really he did. Foggy was a good friend. A better friend that someone like him deserved. But all the gratitude in the world wouldn’t change that these cotton-poly blend sheets felt like sandpaper on his skin.
He was out of practice ignoring the sensation. He had gotten used to silk. He could hear Stick calling him a pussy for allowing himself to become so dependent on something like silk sheets. And maybe he was right. But it had been so nice, being comfortable while he slept, for the first time since the accident. He had thanked God for leading him to that girl’s bed during his first semester. Her silk sheets had been a revelation. So much of one that Matt had taken some of his precious cash and immediately bought two sets.
Foggy had teased him about it a little, joking that he was turning their dorm room into a brothel. They ended up pondering the logistics of such a venture, one of those bizarre yet thoroughly entertaining conversations he often had with Foggy. Sometimes it felt like he could tell Foggy anything.
Matt rolled over, trying to find a less uncomfortable spot. Another reason he couldn’t sleep. A debate weighed heavily on his mind. An argument he had been having with himself for months. Should he tell Foggy about his senses? His training? What really happened the night Elektra dumped him?
He wanted to. Sometimes it was all he could do to keep it behind his teeth. To only give the barest of hints, hoping that Foggy would pick up them. Put two and two together. It was possible. Foggy was a smart guy. Far smarter than he liked to give himself credit for. Sometimes it seemed like he had, from some of his questions.
But another, equally powerful part of his mind, dreaded Foggy learning those things. That Hey buddy would transform into Get away from me freak.
No matter how many times Matt tried to tell himself that Foggy wasn’t like that. He wasn’t cruel. Convince himself that Foggy wouldn’t reject him for his abilities. Remember how Foggy had gotten in people’s faces for being homophobic or racist or any number of things. He had protested bills targeting mutants. Every logical part of his brain said telling Foggy was safe.
And yet the terror remained. The knowledge that he was so awful that even as a baby, his own mother couldn’t stand him. The phantom sound of Stick’s retreating footstep clogged his ears. The ghost of Elektra’s perfume and that man’s blood filled his nose. All of it froze his tongue in his mouth. Seized his jaw in crushing grip.
He couldn’t do it. Couldn’t risk it. Couldn’t risk losing his friend. Matt was too weak. He needed that connection, craved the easy affection Foggy gave him as easy as breathing. He couldn’t lose it. He couldn’t . . .
“Matt?”
Matt started. He had been so caught up in his own thoughts that he hadn’t even heard Foggy wake up. Or sit up for that matter.
“Hey Foggy,” he said. “What are you doing up?”
“I could ask you the same thing,” Foggy said. “It’s 3 AM.”
Matt shifted so he was facing the direction of Foggy’s bed. “I can’t sleep.”
“Why? Bad dreams?”
“Nah . . . just worried about that final in Dr. White’s class,” Matt answered. It wasn’t entirely a lie.
“Buddy, you shouldn’t be worried about that. You got that philosophy junk backwards and forwards.”
“It’s not junk,” Matt retorted automatically, sitting up himself when he heard Foggy moving. Getting up. “What are you doing?”
“Grabbing my laptop,” Foggy said. “Since neither of us can sleep, we’re watching a movie.”
“You were sleeping just fine.”
“Oh contraire mon ami, I was as restless as you were. You ain’t the only one worried about finals.” Foggy said. It was a lie. Matt didn’t need to hear the little skip in his heart to know that. And yet . . .
“What movie?”
“Do you really have to ask? The Princess Bride.”
“Haven’t you seen it a million times?”
“And I’ll see it a million and one.”
Matt let it go. It wasn’t worth arguing with Foggy about it. He recognized that tone. Besides he liked The Princess Bride. Listening to it one more time wouldn’t hurt.

14. cookie cutters
i haven’t thought about this much honestly because i’m not big on scents
15. elf on the shelf
main wingman is always my cousin. she loves trying to set me up because she generalizes my type too much (thinks any random white boy will work for me 🙄). but she’s cool and somehow always has a new bitch which makes my job really easy. when we hang out we either go to the movies (my choice) or to a party (her choice)
16. wrapping paper
i like scripting in bullet points in either my notes app or a google doc. i’m very concerned with dates so a lot of my script is taken over by timelines

18. snowballs
i want to make short films with my friends and get absolutely nothing done because we’re too busy cracking jokes and having dance parties

The timeline thing is a godsend!! Is there any chance or you creating one that is year based, instead of days? This is more intuitive than any other writing/plotting timeliness I've been able to find.
Hi, thank you and I'm glad this is (somewhat) helpful to you!
To be entirely honest, the timeline I am using for my own story purposes got even MORE insane with even more options, and I've been wanting to share that template as well. But unfortunately... Making it "I don't know how to code 😭" friendly is insanely hard (even more so because now I'm using a python script to automatically generate the main HTML file out of sub-files + a number of parameters that can adjust things such as which time period is shown, how wide/thin the time scale is, custom elements for the size of icons and such, etc, and ALSO by far the most important detail, my timeline now actually has a smooth transition between day X and day X+1 instead of having a blank that creates an offset every time the clock strikes midnight, I'm so sorry that the currently downloadable version has that issue in horizontal mode), and unfortunately I just don't have the free time to make that right now (<- PhD student with way too many side projects).
I could try sharing the current state of my timeline as it is now, but I don't want to do that because it's like. full of spoilers for my own fanfic for obvious reasons lmfao. So for the time being I guess I can just share a screenshot of what it looks like and just how insane I am:
Regarding your question on the time scale: you could change that yourself by changing the contents of the svg file named "scale.svg" in the chr folder. It is actually a text file, not an image, and hopefully the logic behind it can be guessed easily enough! So if you know what exactly you want, and if you're willing to risk tinkering with it yourself, you can make a backup of that file, remove/change a few lines of code in the scale.svg file (don't rename it or move it around, change exclusively the file "scale.svg"), then reload your main timeline HTML page in order to see what that does.
The numbers in that file are X/Y coordinates for the most part, so by adding/moving/removing vertical bars, you could transform that 24-hour scale into a year scale. I guess it's convenient that a day has 24 hours and a year has 12 months! You could start first by deleting one in two hour bars and renaming the labels from "XX:XX" to month names. After that if you want to add the days... Well, it'll be trickier, but hopefully you'll have figured out a bit better how the logic of that file works so you'll be able to add these smaller day marks through a bit of trial and error.
......After looking at the state of my SVG file actually that might be a bit trickier. However, I have good news for you: you can copy-paste the code into the website SvgPathEditor in order to make your editing process much easier! All you have to do is copy-paste only the part of the code that looks like "M0 20 0 50M300 20 300 50M600 20 600 50M900 20 900" (the logic here is "M 0 20 0 50" = one vertical bar that starts at coordinates (0, 20) and ends at coordinates (0, 50), so it's just a list of the vertical bars one after the other. Sorry it's much less clear than I remembered it ^^')
(EDIT: I just hope you don't need to account for leap years, because due to the way the timeline is coded, I don't think it can afford to do that unless you make your scale so that it works by four years instead of only one. And let's not even get started on the "sometimes it's a new century so there's no leap year but some centuries do start with a leap year anyway" rule.)
All that being said, thank you again for your kind message, I'm sorry I can't do more than that for the time being (and you shouldn't hold your breath waiting for an update, I honestly don't know when / if it will ever have the time to happen :')), and good luck! I hope what I gave with the current zip file + this reply's advice will be good enough for you.
(EDIT²: For people who never heard of the original timeline post, here it is! It's a tool I made forever ago that lets you create a timeline in order to keep track of what each character does at what time in your own stories.)

It might be interesting to note that H. P. Lovecraft left New York City and returned to Providence, Rhode Island on April 17, 1926. Though he remained married to Sonia Greene Lovecraft till the end of his life, by 1926 the marriage was essentially over. Lovecraft had been all but abandoned by his wife when she left a high paying position with another company and tried to open her own hat shop. This was in New York City at a time when the economy was booming. Sonia Lovecraft was a talented and highly experienced member of the fashion community. It is therefore odd that she would not have taken great pains to research and calculate the risks associated with such an endeavor. Regardless, the new venture failed after only a few months and Mrs. Lovecraft eventually took a sales position 600 miles away. HPL refused to follow his new wife to the Midwest and remained in NYC in a tiny apartment. By all accounts Lovecraft fell into a great depression as he was robbed of much of his clothing and was forced to survive without decent heat and exposed to marauding rats. As a result of this state of nearly living as a prisoner he virtually stopped writing. One might ask how a couple who were basically newlyweds could have chosen such a dismal living arrangement. This was several years before the great depression took hold of the world. Yet, it might seem puzzling to the average person, that two adult individuals only recently married would accept such an arrangement. Well, this was Lovecraft after all and somehow this has been accepted without too much question by most critics. Curiously one of Lovecraft's most famed stories was completed almost as soon as he returned to his beloved home town of Providence, RI. In THE CALL OF CTHULHU the bloated, tentacled, demon-god and his cosmic city of unearthly architecture rises from the waves of the Pacific in the month of March. I have previously explored the noteworthy events regarding The Ides of March as they coincidently relate to many events of Lovecraft's life. Particularly his wife was born in March and he was married to her in NYC in the month of March. If we follow the narrative of THE CALL OF CTHULHU carefully we find that the threat of Cthulhu was at its peak in the month of March. However, it seems that by the first of April the danger had abated. April 1st was at one time considered the first day of the New Year. April 1st was once the traditional day of new beginning. Those who early on continued to celebrate New Years on April 1st were considered "April Fools". Well, Lovecraft was both an antiquarian and a keen student of history. Could NYC and Lovecraft's failed marriage to Sonia Greene have been emblematic of Great Cthulhu and his horrible tomb city? Humanity narrowly escaped a fate beyond imagination if Cthulhu had not been subdued by what seemed to have been sheer luck? Likewise Lovecraft himself found salvation in the month of April and his return to Providence. The sculpture in clay and mask of Cthulhu pictured below were created many decades ago by your curator, Richard G. Huber. The ceramic figure of Cthulhu sitting on his throne was created by artist, writer, and critic, the late Richard Tierney. The political cartoon of a tentacled monster symbolizing corporate corruption was a common theme even in Lovecraft's time. (Exhibit 454)

Hello, everyone, and thank you for reading my story. I am Mohammed Shamia, a fourth year student of laboratory medicine. i’ve spent all my time since evacuating thinking of nothing but evacuating my relatives. How does one think of the future whilst trying to secure his family’s mere survival? I still can’t think of the future, because the crossing has been closed for almost 4 months now, and conditions in Gaza have grown even more impossible than they were when I was there. Now, I have to think of supporting my relatives so that they don’t need to begin spending their evacuation & resettlement funds. Your solidarity and support has helped me raise my relatives’ evacuation fees, & for that my gratitude will last a lifetime. My task now is to sustain the following relatives, whose health worsens with every traumatic displacement (the IOF, if you’ve noticed, is forcing people to move their tents far more frequently than before). -My parents -My grandparents. -My brother Hassan -My sister Samah, her husband, & their 3 children Just barely feeding these 10 people costs $600 a week. A package of laundry detergent costs $100, and there are of course other expenses as well, like my mother’s medication for arrhythmia. A flat $3,000 will enable them to barely sustain themselves. My family will also need: -To pay living expenses for myself, my cousins Heba, Munther, and Jomana, and Jomana’s husband and 3 children in Cairo. None of us have Egyptian citizenship or permanent residency, and so we cannot work. Fortunately, we are thrifty, and live in a humble neighborhood called Matereya, and so we can collectively get by on $600. -Since my university in Gaza has been destroyed, i will likely need to finish my education here in Egypt. Semesterly tuition costs run around ~$3,000 for Palestinian expatriate students. As you know, the Rafah crossing has been closed two months, and all of the relatives for whom I’ve raised the registration fee remain in Gaza.
We try to support them without dipping into donations allocated for other purposes, but life in Gaza is extremely expensive. A pack of diapers will cost you $100, and accessing critical health services (which babies often require given the deeply unhealthy environment they inhabit) can really hurt your pockets, to say the least. For now, I will add $1,000 to give us a modest cushion and make our goal a clean $70,000. Again, my family deeply appreciates your solidarity and support. With love, Mohammed

Where are the best student accommodations in Bristol?
As soon as her peers asked me, a horrible but interested Beth walked into a place and my capacious bands were used up at once. As with many students, my initial excitement was cooled by the overwhelming task of discovering the right living place. The objective I set was, after coming down the cobblestone streets, finding my way to the housing destinations and checking all the accommodation facilities, to bring you up to date with the student housing scene.
Bristol: A Student Refuge
To start, the numbers speak first. There are two big universities in Bristol - the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England (UWE) - that together house more than 50,000 students. The huge student community of which it is has been affected by this place a lot and made it a place that is absolutely wonderful for people to pursue their studies and their life.
Per a 2023 survey conducted by The Times Higher Education, Bristol is the 4th top-ranked town in the UK in terms of student living, among other things, the most essential factor in the preference for accommodation.
Top Areas for Student Living
1. Clifton
I was in Clifton in my freshman year and I would say that I had an excellent start in Bristol. This elegant district holds several students of the University of Bristol and along with them is famous for the wonderful classic Georgian style buildings, popular cafes, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and a lot of historical buildings.
Key Facts:
· Average rent: £500-£700/month
· Proximity to University of Bristol: 10-15 min walk or easy access to the area via public transportation
· Notable feature: Clifton Village, a picturesque shopping area
2. Redland and Cotham
These nearby districts, in my second year, became my place of residence, which despite its being located in the city's heart, it managed to strike that crucial balance between the student life and the relative peace of the residents. This is mainly because of the tree-lined streets, the spacious flats resulting from the conversion of Victorian houses and the good transport system. It, therefore, gives students more than enough reasons to make it a priority place to live in.
Key Facts:·
Average rent: £400-£600 per month· Proximity to University of Bristol: 20-25 minute walk· Notable feature: Gloucester Road, Bristol's independent shopping haven
3. City Center
To marvel at the energy of the city, the home is the best place to be. Bristol city center is considered the best place to live for those who will never get tired of the city that never sleeps. The vibrant center with more people and faster life suits me better. Apart from teaching, I spend most of the rest of the evening having a good time with my friends in Park Street and Baldwin Street.
Key Facts:·
Average rent: £550-£750 Town· Proximity to both universities: Varies but mostly one bus· Notable features: Bristol Shopping Quarter and St. Nicholas Market
4. Fishponds
UWE students, those who can't afford to spend more at first place, find Fishponds the best deal to save money without giving up the full experience they get from other places. I didn't have a chance to live there myself, but I had many friends at UWE who were thrilled with the area's strong sense of community and green surroundings.
Key Facts:
· Average rent: £350-£500 per month
· Proximity to UWE Frenchay Campus: 10-15 minute bus ride
· Notable feature: Eastville Park, perfect for summer barbecues and relaxation
Top Accommodation Provider
Next, let's investigate the most welcoming living arrangements providers in Bristol:
Uninist
A relatively new entrant in the student living sector of Bristol, Uninist has quickly become the city's main attraction for its growing student population. Since its arrival, the organization has achieved a lot by making sure they are the most popular suppliers of the highest quality living spaces that are just what students need for an amazing time.
The Uninist’s fast rise is a product of various elements:
1. Modern Design: They deliver spaces that draw students’ attention due to their modern looks and layouts. Uninist is known for its sleek furniture and intelligently designed common spaces, which are the main reasons why these places are perfect for students’ lives. They are also mostly aesthetically pleasing and can be used efficiently.
2. Well-Equipped Facilities: Every property by Uninist is equipped with amenities that suit the academic and social needs of the students. These mostly include high-speed internet, study corners, gym, and some places where the students can hang out and interact with each other.
3. PRIME LOCATIONS: Uninist achieved the goal of locating its amenities near the main student passages. Proximity to the university grounds, colleges, bus stops, and the main center for the students was a significant advantage towards them.
4. Safety and Security: Provide students and their parents with the certainty that you have their safety in mind with measures, e.g. 24/7 security and electronic door access systems, which Uninist has in place for them.
5. Community Focus: The company wants to create a sense of community among residents through community events and openly shared spaces that will help students meet new friends and get over any home sickness they have.
Even though I stayed in a residence that was not a part of the Uninist during my years in Bristol, I had the chance to visit friends who got their rentals there. These trips made a big impact on me in terms of the quality of living spaces Uninist provides.
The units I had to see were highly spacious and well lit, having very organized layouts which made the most of the available space. The detail was payed to perfection through the interior design, for example, the use of strong and beautiful furnishing was a great choice, and the storage issues of the residents were easily solved in the most advanced ways.
The shared areas of the Uninist properties were similarly impressive, since they offered spaces suitable for the various needs of the students. From silent corner study spaces to lively common venues, it was as if these spaces had been uniquely designed to cater to the wide range of student needs and preferences.
It is also another thing to think about for those who are thinking about moving into Uninist while their rooms have got a lot of good reviews. Still, on the research side, things like the prices, the location of the apartments, and the specific needs of the buyer should be taken into account when selecting the student housing facility.
Just like with any other newcomer in the student housing business, Uninist will be an exciting experiment to see it develops its standards and meets the changing expectations of the students over the next few years Their current trajectory, however, suggests they are well-positioned to remain a significant player in Bristol's student accommodation landscape.
