Hello again! (Warning, long rant again)

I'm basically making my own dc au for fun (I have too many writing projects to make another rn)

Adding onto what I created on Tom and Jensen, I wanna switch some of the characters with different ones for All Stars. This is now my au of an okay show plot

I wanna add only two characters, Drew (cause I love him and more details later), and Rosa (also explained later) and remove Miriam and Lake (I'm sorry but it's for reason and I wanna give other characters a chance to win)

The reason why I chose Drew and Rosa for All Stars is for two reasons, Fiore and common sense. For Drew, he's an underused contestant that's gone too early (honestly, glad he wasn't picked for all stars cause it kinda flopped after episode 5) but one thing that stands out about him that not a lot of the fandom bothered to notice is that Drew is a constant supporter of Fiore.

One: He probably voted for someone else (like maybe Miriam or Tom) in episode 1, and he was shocked that Fiore was voted out. Also, at the finale where Fiore was already exposed at a villain, Drew was seen at Fiore's stand despite everything, so a Drew and Fiore dynamic would be perfect because Fiore gets bullied way too much by both her teammates and the writing.

And while she does deserve some of the anger they feel towards her, you have to remember that she's just a 6-8 year old (No, I'm not excusing her actions they were bad, but there's a reason why she's this way. Monsters aren't born, they're made), so having someone who seen her at her worst and yet still cares about her would probably make Fiore realize that she's not a heartless monster like what her mom said, she's capable of love like everyone else.

Rosa is also picked for a similar reason, like Drew, while Rosa did watch DC season 1 and saw how Fiore was acting like a jerk she never really liked her first but later into watching the other half of the season she saw a bit of her daughter in Fiore if certain things happened. So when she joined All Stars, she saw the chance to help the self-proclaimed 'monster' of the Disventure Camp.

Let me tell you, if someone has been told by a bunch that they're the worst and many hateful words at a young age, gains a support system and teaches them how to truly love with time it would do wonders.

(Also, I want Rosa to adopt Fiore after the show is over. (Dis)respectfully, I don't trust Alec around kids based on the few mentions about his treatment towards his own kid)

Now, for Tom, his spy background is what made me like him back in the first season 'cuase I'm a sucker for anything spy-related. But like with any cool plotline, ONC fumbled his background just for what? Petty drama and a relationship that probably wouldn't be the best in reality.

Maybe he gets trauma from getting tortured by the enemy after being left behind on a dangerous mission by his teammates and friends he trusted (make Tom fucked up looking like the Creature from Frankenstein) and scars similar to the Phantom's eye scar and have half of his mouth exposed (just have the right side be messed up 👍🏽) Make him a recluse that learns to accept help from others along with trauma bonding with Jake (trust issues gang fr)

For the last part, Jensen. The mystery man himself: Why is he working on a reality TV show where his face could be revealed with the FBI? What did he do for the police and FBI hunting him down, and what does he gain during his stay at Disventure Camp?

Now, let's imagine this: Jensen used to be a part of this huge crime ring that he, originally named Vladimir, ruled with an iron fist. But someone snitched on the gang, and the police took down most of the gang members except Vladimir. Now, with nothing but posters asking people to look out for him, Vladimir needed to get back on top, so when he saw a sheet asking for help on a new reality show out in the middle of no where Vladimir took the job.

He changed his looks (his hair was black, but he dyed it gray to look older, covered the tattoo on his neck and blinded his left eye), and gained a new (fake) ID and changed his name to Jensen. After being hired by Derek and Trevor, he started his plan to restart his empire by selling the animal corpses he kills by the order of Derek and Trevor (He may have killed some interns and framed it as bear attacks)

When season 1 started and Tom joined (He was forced to take the job after the trouble with his teammates betraying him and his boss on their last straw at Tom), Jensen sensed something odd about him. Sneaking a peek at his bags while the players are at the challenge, Jensen finds out that Tom's a spy looking for him, so he creates a plan to make sure Tom will never catch him.

Limits (Stiles)

*****This is kind of based off of my personal head cannon of Stiles having a rough childhood. What makes me think this? I don't know. Its just a vibe I get from him.*****

Everyone had always told him war was awful, and didn't he know it. Andrew Stiles- Drew to his friends (or Stiles to the military) was stuck in a forest in the middle of Europe never knowing if that day could possibly be his last.

"When he got up this morning, he didn't know that today was his last," he thought to himself. Remembering that just mere hours ago Lieutenant Turner had given his life for his platoon so they could escape. Tears sprung.to his eyes at the image of Turner lying dead. on the forest floor. He did his best to swallow down the tears along his 4th cup of coffee Something about losing someone so close to you so unexpectedly makes you think of your own mortality.

"Stiles!" barked Pierson, the Sargent who was now in charge. "You're on watch tonight! Drop that joe and move it!”

"Yes, sir!" he replied scrambling to his feet. He did not feel like keeping watch that night, but he figured the fresh air would do him good. Grabbing his gun, he headed off to the watch point.

Settling in with his canteen and rifle, he prepared himself to sit in that spot for the next four hours until someone else took over. The first hour went by relatively quickly, as did the first half of the second. By the time two hours had passed, the poor man was bored out of his skull.

"I can't wait to get back to Chicago," he whispered to himself. "Then I'll never have to deal with Pierson again. That is, if I even get out of this mess alive. With him in charge I doubt it."

This wasn't the first time the negative thoughts has entered his mind. He was usually able to distract himself with tasks around the camp, but this time he couldn't for obvious reasons. So he decided the next best thing to do was to distract himself with memories of home.

He had always loved the days when school has been cancelled because of the snow. The snowball fights with his brother and sister had been great. Although sometimes they were a bit one sided considering Timothy has been confined to a wheelchair since the age of 6 and Esther showed little interest in the game.

"I'll have to go back to Rainbow Cone with them when I get back." he thought to himself. He remembered the day it opened. Their father had taken him and his three older brothers- eight year old twins Michael and David, and a five year old Timothy- the day the ribbon was cut and they enjoyed a lovely day out together.

It was the only clear memory he had of his father, as the following year he had gotten in a car accident on the way back from taking his older brothers to a play at the local theater. His father and the twins perished in the accident, and it had been the thing that left Timothy paralyzed from the waist down. Esther had been born two months later when Drew was four.

Right now he was grateful his brothers weren't here to see the mess he was in. Timothy was a big softie.

"Just like I am," he thought to himself. "I gotta visit their grave when I get home." They'd buried the twins in their father's arms, a point of contention between his father's parents and Drew's mother. A singular tear rolled down his cheek. What if his mother had to bury yet another child? This one lost not in an accident, but in the fields of war.

"Dad," he whispered under his breath, his voice threatening to break into sobs if he spoke any louder. "Dad, Davey, Mikey, please get me through this. Somehow, someway just get me out of this so I can go home." He was crying now.

"I just want to go home and see Mom again. And Timmy and Essie. I miss home. I miss home so bad." Taking off his already tear-stained glasses, he leaned up against the sand bags and tried to pull himself together, but he just couldn't seem to stop crying. As Zussman had said a few weeks prior, everyone has their limits. And he had finally hit his.

From the moment that you met Agatha that one day in Westview, something about her magic always drew you to the older woman. Some would assume that the brunette had used her magic to somehow seduce you into being in a committed relationship with her but it always shocks people to hear the story about how the relationship blossomed into something so beautiful. 

Everyone in the neighborhood was used to Agatha practicing her magic in her house, with the garage open for the fun of it. Some people would stop by for a couple of seconds before moving into whatever plans they had but she was shocked to see you just watching in awe. It was something that you’ve never seen, which is a bit weird to say living in a world where aliens exist. 

“ I don’t bite darling,” you hear the woman from the garage yell,” how about you come over so I can show you some of my skills?” 

While Agatha just stares at you, she notices that you’re deciding whether to come into the garage or not. It’s not like she’s gonna do anything to you.  If you yell loud enough there’s got to be someone in the houses next door to hear you. 

“ Promise not to use your magic to harm me ? “ you ask which makes the woman chuckle. 

“ Only if you don’t annoy me”, she jokes. 

And as they say, the rest was history. 

At that moment, Agatha had taken a liking to you, there was something about you that made her so interested to be near you. Though the brunette wanted to go the quick route and schmooze you, she decided to take it slow with you and it was the best choice that she made. 

3 years later, both of you were living in the same house that you met, happily married to each other, with a son ( who’s Agatha’s pet bunny cause yes ). It was heaven for the both of you but there was one thing that was always not fun to deal with. 

Your migraines. 

About 6 months after the both of you met, the older woman offered up her home office as a space for you to do your meeting while your roommate had family over. After a grueling meeting with some stubborn coworkers who didn’t want to listen and your body betrayed you when you feel a migraine coming. Lucky for you for always planning, this was something you knew how to deal with but Agatha always felt a little bad for you. She wanted to help her loved one out but being a stubborn person, she was always assured by you that it was fine. 

It was around the holidays which meant that you would be stressed trying to make all of your deadlines while all your girlfriend could do was offer up any sort of help to be a stress relief. Time and time again, you told you that it was fine so Agatha chose to clean a bit for the time being til you were done. 

A couple of hours go by, the house is all clean and Agatha could hear whining from your shared bedroom. She was unsure what was going on with you, one side of her wanted to leave you be but it was best to check up on you in case anything happen. 

“ How’s my little superstar doing ? “ she gently asks as she opens the door to see a heartbreaking scene. 

You had all been under the bedroom sheets, and pillows as well around you. Curtains closed so as to not let any of the light in as you were experiencing a bad migraine and while sleep usually helps with it, this time around it just didn’t seem to work for you. All you wanted was the dumb migraine to go away and it made you cry which almost made your girlfriend cry as well at the scene before her.

Using all of her experience of hiding, the older woman quietly makes her way to the bed, careful to not make any noise to alert you. Once she makes it under the sheets, Agatha scoops you up into her arms to comfort you and you jump in surprise not noticing that she made her way into the room. 

“ How’s my little love bug doing? “ she whispers and she gets a whine back in response. 

“ y/n, can you be a good girl for me and use your words? I wanna be able to help my darling out,” she pleads quietly to you and you slowly get up from her chest even though you don’t want to. 

“ It’s my head, fucking migraine,” you whisper back to her and immediately go back to laying your head on her chest to see if that helps you out for a bit. A temporary solution at this moment is so much better than nothing. 

“ oh my sweet y/n,” Agatha starts,” Is there anything i can do to help you? Whatever you need me to do and I’m happy to do it?” 

“ Can you use your magic to sooth me?” you sleepily tell her while Agatha is stunned to hear that her girlfriend wants her magic to help in the moment. Sure she had used her magic to do the chores in the house, sometimes even cook if you were in a clingy mood and whatnot but you never had asked the witch to use it on you. There was something in her mind that feared accidentally harming you if the spell went wrong and she would never forgive herself if anything happened to you. Not after the harm, she caused to her coven all those years ago and the harm she caused to her Coven mother. 

“ Honey are you sure ? i don’t want to - “ 

“ Aggie please, “ you mumble as you shove your face into her chest,” I know about your past and i trust you with all my being not to hurt me, please help me, baby’. 

At that moment, Agatha gets her spell book from the nightstand on her bed in her hand quickly, skimming through the pages of spells she learned over the year to see which would be the best one to use in that moment. Didn’t take long before she found one to soothe you. The book is quickly put back in its designated spot in the nightstand and she gets a bit comfier to be able to use her magic on you. 

“ This isn’t going to hurt you, my love, just please remember to tell me if it does,” she warns before enacting the spell. The moment that her fingers hit your forehead, you feel relief from the terrible migraine, cuddling harder into your lovely partner for helping you out. 

“ Love you aggie,” you mumble before drifting to sleep in your arms while the older woman continues her spell on you, tearing up a bit to see that after all these years, her magic didn’t hurt someone that she loved. 

“ I love you too my sweet superstar”.

Chapter 1

“Dr. Anderson,” Maggie called out to get Rae’s attention, “I’ve got someone for you to check out. Be warned, he won’t want you around, but he needs to be looked at.”

Rae rolled her eyes, “Sure, sounds fun. Point me in the right direction,” she replied.

Maggie pointed at bay 6 causing Rae to nod.

Once Rae drew back the curtain, she knew what Maggie meant, “Sergeant Hank Voight, now I see what Maggie meant. You have quite the reputation. I’m Dr. Rae Anderson, a Physical Therapist. I’m going to check on your range of motion after your shoulder injury. Are you alright with that?” she asked.

“I don’t think I have much of a choice,” Voight replied, his gravelly voice showing his annoyance.

She glanced down to hide her smile as she reached out and grasped her forearm, “Ok, I’m going to rotate your arm. Tell me if anything causes pain, ok?”

“Understood,” he responded as he attempted to hide a wince while she moved his arm toward the ceiling.

She continued rotating his shoulder until she released her hold of his arm, noticing the possible blush on his cheeks from her touch before she spoke, “It looks like the injury is only compromising a small amount of your range of motion. I’d recommend that you come back two to three times a week to work on it with me, but I know better. Can you, at least, attempt to take it easy on this arm? I know you’re planning to head straight back to the streets.”

Voight held back a smirk as he replied, nodding, “I’ll do my best but I can’t make any promises. Will you be here to help me out if I don’t let this heal correctly?” he inquired, unsure of his true motivations.

Rae nodded, “I will, but I hope that I only see you again on a non-injury-related basis. You’re clear to go. But, listen to what I said, please,” she added as she exited the room wondering if he’d felt the same spark she’d noticed during their short interaction.

A week later, the ED was having a slow day so Rae decided to talk to Maggie about the police officer she’d been thinking about.

“Hey Mags,” Rae called out, “Do you have a minute?”

Maggie glanced her way, “Of course, what’s on your mind?”

Rae looked away for a moment, gathering her nerve, “I just wanted to find out what you know about Voight. Is he seeing anyone? Is he even interested in that sort of thing? I haven’t been able to get him off my mind since the day he was in here,” she confessed.

Maggie’s eyes lit up at Rae’s inquiry, “I love this! Voight’s wife died a few years ago from cancer. As far as I know, he hasn’t dated anyone or even had a fling since. I think you’d be really good for him. You should know that he’s not one to ask someone out. You’ll probably have to make the first move,” she suggested.

Rae shrugged at the information, “I’m surprised that he isn’t the type of guy to make a move. He seems like someone who knows what he wants.”

“He is, but he’s also someone who has lost a lot in his personal life so he stays pretty glued to his work,” Maggie shared.

Rae nodded, “That makes sense. I guess I’ll ask him out if I see him again. I’m ninety-nine percent sure that shoulder wound will bring him back in,” she went on, lost in her own thoughts, causing Maggie to nod in agreement.

Another week passed when Rae was walking through the ED before she spotted Voight in a bay with Will.

She made her way into the area, “Dr. Halstead, what brings the Sergeant back in today?” she asked, to make her presence known.

Will looked up to see Rae in the room, “Dr. Anderson, he broke the stitches on his shoulder injury. Did you need to evaluate him? We’re keeping this visit off the books if you know what I mean?”

“I do and I would like to take a look once you’re finished,” she replied as she stepped to the side to wait for her turn.

Will nodded before he continued stitching up the wound. Once he was finished, he stepped aside to leave the room while also leaving Voight and Rae alone.

“You didn’t follow my advice very well, did you?” Rae inquired as she grasped his forearm in her hands as she’d done previously.

Voight shook his head, “It wasn’t for lack of trying. I’ve been working some pretty serious drug cases and things just got out of hand,” he explained.

She nodded, “Well, it doesn’t look like you’ve done any additional damage but you really need to take it easier this time around. I’m sure you don’t want to lose function in your arm?”

“No, I need it to do my job. I will try better. If that’s all, I’d like to get out of here and back to my case,” he replied, avoiding eye contact with her.

Rae took a breath before she answered, “You’re cleared to go, but I do have an additional question. How would you feel about grabbing dinner with me tonight?” she asked, closing her eyes as she realized how she’d put herself out there with zero safety net.

Voight glanced down, hiding his smile, but his crow’s feet gave him away, “I’m not sure I’m the kind of guy you want to date. But, if you’re not worried about the risk then I’ll pick you back up here at 7. Will your shift be over by then?”

“I will,” she replied, “See you then,” she added as she stood and left the exam room.

More Degrassi asks for whenever you want to answer! 1. Three or four unpopular Degrassi opinions - the more unpopular, the better! 2. Two or three Degrassi couples most fans really like who you're meh or ugh about 3. Two or three Degrassi couples most fans don't like much who you love (spoiler alert: my answer for this one would be Jenna/Connor...please don't hate me! The underwear thing was a horrific choice by the writers, but otherwise I love both lof them individually and together so much. It's so lovely to see someone 'on the spectrum' in a loving romantic relationship, and imo he is actually who she needs and deserves after KC!) 4. Your top seven female Degrassi characters? 5. Your top seven male Degrassi characters? 6. If you could choose to bring just three Degrassi characters back from the dead, who would they be?! Enjoy - I can't wait to see your answers...and feel fere to mock me for loving Jonnor ;)

Unpopular opinions:

1.) While I don't ship Spinner and Emma, their marriage is far from the worst thing Degrassi ever did. The timing made it all very questionable, but it seemed like Spinner and Emma found each other at just the right time. If not for the marriage itself, I don't think most would have such a big problem with them ending up together. Even though Emma's relationship with Sean was far more popular, in a lot of ways I actually think Emma and Spinner were more compatible. Maybe not for most of their run on Degrassi, but definitely during their last four seasons or so. If there's ever a reboot and those three characters return, I don't want to see Sean and Emma ending up together unless the writing can justify it. But based on how their relationship was written during season 6, I doubt they could.

2.) The definition of suicide is the act or instance of taking one's own life voluntarily and intentionally. Therefore, Zig couldn't have murdered Cam and bears no culpability in his death. This shouldn't be an unpopular opinion, but I still hear this ignorance on a monthly basis. It's been almost eleven years. This is ridiculous.

3.) Nine times out of ten, Ashley is correct and 100% in the right. It's just that many fans find her boring and she's consistently pitted against more popular characters played by more charismatic actors (Craig, Jimmy, Manny, Paige). This includes but isn't limited to Ashley dumping Jimmy because he was being passive aggressive and admitted to only considering her attractive on the inside as well as wanting to record and pursue music independently of Jimmy.

4.) Even though I prefer Drianca, the Clare/Drew relationship was one of the best written and executed ships during the later seasons. The writers did a fantastic job building up their feelings for each other and showing how they balanced each other out. It was a complete copout to drop their relationship entirely just so that Clare could end up with her slut shaming, misogynistic, emotionally abusive, overrated ex.

Popular couples I don't ship:

1.) Miles/Lola (They fucked once while his boyfriend was in a coma. Lola's whole thing was not wanting to be someone's second choice. Miles did the same "You're the only one that understands me" song and dance with four different love interests)

2.) Eli/Clare (See my fourth unpopular opinion or just watch seasons 10-14)

3.) Cam/Maya (They're sweet for what they are and I loved Maya's arc, but overall it was a very brief relationship that left Maya with a lot of trauma and negative feelings towards Cam. Also, Zaya was right there. That made it impossible to invest in them)

Unpopular couples I ship:

1.) Clare/Drew (once again, see unpopular opinion #4)

2.) Dave/Alli (Dave was actually a good character and deserves twice as much nostalgia and appreciation as Johnny DiMarco gets for doing the bare minimum. No, they weren't perfect, but Dave unlike most Degrassi cheaters put in the work and effort to win back his ex's trust. I think they loved each other. The timing was just wrong and to be honest, they probably weren't meant to be)

3.) Tristan/Miles (To be honest, I'm currently having some complicated feelings about these two due to being in the middle of a Next Class rewatch and being forced to realize the biphobia was even worse than I'd remembered. But, the simple fact I still technically ship them and the response to admitting you do in the present day is frothing at the mouth and shame means they should be included. For what it's worth, I liked them in season 13, enjoyed the potential in 14, and have positive memories of their second relationship)

Nooooo! Jonnor is amazing! They're one of the sweetest, purest couples on Degrassi. Connor struggled to understand social norms and handled his hormones in a questionable way, but he also didn't have the guidance at the time to figure that out. He left Degrassi to get a grasp on that, so I think it's forgivable. We see during Connor's relationship with Jenna that he's learned a lot and is overall a very respectful, considerate boyfriend to Jenna. I also strongly agree that Jenna deserved better than KC.

And so far I've made Wally, and I'm moving on to Julie's Design.

And so welcome to a quiet place, this is a universe where everyone has their own phobia. Each of the neighbors is trying to help each other to change their phobias that appeared over time.

Wally has sociaphobia, this artist earned it because of severe problems at school. Being bullied and bullied by peers. For the reasons that he was weak and he could not fight back. Staying at home more often and believing that it is safer at home. One day, having escaped straight from school, walking through the woods, he met Barnaby. That's when they met, because Barnaby also had problems, but they often laughed at him because of stupid mistakes and found it funny even when he could just fall, or on the contrary, they scolded and poured mud on him, even for the slightest stupidity. Which is why Barnaby has Atihiphobia (this is the fear of making a failure or mistake).

Since then, they have become best friends who helped each other.

Gradually, of course, Wally is very much afraid of strangers and unfamiliar companies. In society, he feels very bad and he may have a nervous breakdown.

Therefore, having decided for himself, he left his hometown just for a Quiet place.

Evidence:

1. Since childhood, Wally loved to draw, and when he felt bad, especially in adolescence, he drew. Drawing calmed him, and helped him escape from the reality of his fantasy world.

2. Wally paints paintings to order. Prudently Barnaby he took up such work.

3. Wally has no contact with anyone except Barnaby, his customers have to transfer their paintings by mail, as well as receive money for them by mail.

4. Wally loves apples, but they are almost not at home. Since if they appear, then a day later they are no longer there.

5. Darrling is not familiar with Julie, Frank, Eddie, Howdy, Sally, Poppy. He had heard about them from his friend Barnaby.

6. Darrling loves nature and silence, so there are also many different locations in his house.

7. Wally loves, in addition to drawing, various Horrors, and various books in the genre of Psychology.

8. If Wally finds out that someone has offended Barnaby. Then he will be furious and may even attack that person and beat him. But as soon as he realizes what he has done, he will quickly run to his home and hide.

9. Although he looks insecure and upset. He has another violent side that breaks out when he's furious.

10. The choker and the pendant were given to him by Barnaby.

11. He likes all sorts of chains, and unusual things.

Mens Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Drew McIntyre vs LA Knight vs Chad Gable vs Carmello Hayes vs Jey Uso vs Andrade El Idolo.  There were some fun spots in this match, one spot in particular came from Andrade that was similar to when he did a powerbomb to Finn Balor back at Money In The Bank 2019, he attempted the same thing to Jey Uso only to be pushed by LA Knight.  LA Knight and Jey Uso worked well as a team on Drew Mc Intyre, few good spots from Hayes and Gable who I hope to see in more Ladder matches in the future, Drew at the end was the right call for what would happen later.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Sami Zayn (Champion) vs Bron Breakker.  2nd favourite match of the night, Bron as a heel feels like 2002 Brock Lesnar and nails the Frankensteiner to perfection.  It was the right call for Zayn to retain for him to still have a strong reign plus you need one Canadian hero to win.  It doesn’t hurt Bron Breakker as he will come back from this stronger and has a long career ahead.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match Damien Priest (Champion) vs Seth Rollins: The thing most people spoke about in this match was the botch pinfall that Priest forgot to kick out of, rumour was he got a stinger which takes a while to wake up from.  Drews failed cash in during the match was the right call to add more heat to his feud with Punk, with Rollins now out of the title scene for a while they can reopen his feud with CM Punk with a possible triple threat at SummerSlam.

Womens Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Naomi vs Io Sky vs Lyra Valkyria vs Tiffany Straton vs Chelsea Green vs Zoey Stark:  The women on this occasion out did the men as they used the addition of tables for the match along with ladders, Chelsea Green was the MVP of this match as she was able to over come a fear of heights, feud good spots from Naomi, Io and Tiff using the ladders in their aswell.  I was going with Chelsea to win the crowd was very high on Tiffany Straton, a confrontation with Trish Stratus after the match shows there is a feud in place for the two.

   Six Man Tag Cody Rhodes/Randy Orton/Kevin Owens/ vs The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa/Jacob Fatu/Tama Tonga). Jacob Fatu was the MVP of this whole match, he’s  so nimble and moves really quick, he will be a star in WWE in years to come, one of the talking points was the botched low blow by Tonga Loa which saw him hit KO in the genitals and the top of Tama Tongas head but it was nothing majorly bad just funny, KO fought with passion for his mother whose in the hospital.  Solo pinning Cody was the right call to build for a match with SummerSlam.

 

Overall thoughts

For people to call this the worst ple of the year is an overreaction, yes Drew failed to cash in but it added more to his Punk feud and now we got Rollins in it too, plus Priest held the mens MITB briefcase for 10 months so it looked Triple H didn’t want to do that again.  With Priest facing Gunther at SummerSlam and more likely Gunther winning it’s looking like a long reign for the ring general.  The Womens MITB and Zayn vs Breakker were the two match highlights.  It was the right call not to debut someone like Hikalau or have someone like Rhea Ripley return because more were talking about Cenas retirement announcement.  Priest and Loa made mistakes but it happens in professional wrestling. Overall score 8/10.

River Listens To: Mayfair Watchers Society - Episodes 5 & 6

We're starting to pick up more hints towards the overarching plotline as I move along! I'm cataloguing my thoughts in between shiny hunting sessions in Pokemon Rumble, so my writing may be a little more sparse. As always, spoilers under the cut!

📸 Episode 5: Flash Bulb

Here it is: the incident that was hinted at in Episode 2 with the Hayward Textile Mill! This episode was a little more difficult to listen to for me. The moth sound effects were a bit over-exaggerated, but also, I'm not sure how else one would communicate moth flight in an audio-only medium. The interviewer was also hard to understand sometimes. Granted, I could've looked at the transcript, but I was multitasking, so I'll take the L for that one. But there's probably a reason this is the first episode that comes up when I search "mayfair watchers society transcript".

I think the main thing making this a more difficult listen, though, was the character dynamic between our two leads, Drew and Cam. This doesn't mean it was a bad dynamic! They just don't have the easy chemistry of some of our previous characters. It made for a more tense episode, but I still think that it was a good story. In fact, I think their tension kind of carried the episode.

To elaborate, you can get the feeling immediately from the way Cam and Drew talk to each other that they are in a rough spot. Drew insults Cam a lot, and they both keep blaming each other for mistakes. The reason why is made apparent if you listen closely, though. Cam mentions someone named Finch who evidently knows that the mill had holes in the second floor. Cam was evidently supposed to come to the mill with them last year, until an unspecified incident which makes both her and Drew uncomfortable to even mention in passing. This name comes up a couple more times, until Drew says this:

"Finch was always full of shit anyway."

Was. This made their entire dynamic click for me. I think this is a mutual friend, or perhaps just a friend of Cam's, who these two had differing feelings on, and their evident loss must have torn them apart. Cam speaks of them fondly, but Drew dropping this line is what gives me the impression of what their dynamic must have been like when Finch was around. He later says that he's not going to leave Cam alone, so the remaining two clearly care for each other. There's just something making that difficult to sustain right now.

It's clear, too, that whatever happened with Finch is not the only thing straining this friendship. When Drew says that Cam's mom is nice, she says that he only thinks that because he doesn't have to live with her. Cam later asks if Drew is dealing with "stepdad stuff", which Drew does not want to talk about. So, it seems like familial issues on both ends are putting stressors on these teens and their shaky relationship.

There is more loss in the background of the episode, too. Cam mentions that her mom has been working late because someone "stopped showing up to work". That may be inconspicuous if this were not Mayfair. Drew also once mentions a brother, who he speaks about with some level of reverence; Cam later reveals that said brother was hit by a car. These two teens are clearly going through it.

Ultimately, the monster itself wasn't as exciting. Like I said, the characters felt like the greater focus. I'm glad for my relisten, because it shed a lot of light on the underpinnings of this episode that made it make so much more sense to me why it's so stressful.

🪵 Episode 6: The Host

This episode rocks. I remember liking it the first time, and it might be my favorite so far on this relisten. I like the characters, the setting, the anomaly of the week... There's a lot that I enjoy about this episode, and I'll get into why.

Arthur is a hilarious character to me. He's the epitome of "white environmentalist who thinks a week in a cabin is returning to his spiritual roots" and I find it so fun to rag on him. Let's look at the notes I kept on Arthur specifically (non-exhaustive):

Guy who believes in untouched wilderness. Everyone point and laugh

"I'M OUT HERE EARNING M E N T A L WEALTH. THE CURRENCY YOU CAN NEVER RUN OUT OF. I JUST SAW A CONDOR"

"Always the fuckin' owls" guys do you think he's getting tired of this already?

He's so giving "humans are the virus"

I don't hate him. Don't let this list give you the impression that I hate him. I just think he's absolutely hilarious to make fun of because I've definitely met this guy before at like, REI. He's a guy who is disillusioned with capitalism but doesn't understand that it's capitalism and thinks that people just individually choose to work office jobs and go to college. You can tell this is true when he goes off on his friend Marv for "the crypto lifestyle" and blames him instead of, I don't know, the 1%. In that same scene, he compares his friend James' coming out (diversity win!) to himself doing his little off-the-grid soul search. He quickly realizes that he's being a dick, but like, it's emblematic of his deeper issues.

You can also tell how quickly he loses his mind being alone. I pointed out in my silly list how quick he is to curse out the owls. He also very audibly screams into his pillow before turning off the recording in one segment. Which makes sense, because he has no idea what he's doing out here. He thinks he's suuuch a naturalist, but his ass is NOT following the 6 foot rule for disposing of fecal waste. This man is going on about people not wanting to look truth in the eyes, and then he hears the most bearlike noises ever recorded and says shit like, "Must be that bird again." It's funny how out of his depth he is when he wants so badly to be a part of the natural world.

It's interesting how seamlessly his attitude towards nature flows into becoming one with the barnacles, or the Ick, or whatever we're calling it. He starts out already saying that these things out here are people, too. This made it kind of hard for me to tell when the infection started, or if there is an infection to speak of until he gets claimed at the end of the episode. I'm unclear on whether these barnacle things have some sort of mental effect upon first sighting, or if he's only lost when he makes physical contact with the thing that was previously a deer. I'm leaning towards the latter, or else I'm not sure he would have been so frightened by the bear-thing at the stream. But I'm still a bit uncertain of the mechanics of this anomaly.

Upon reading the transcript, things became a bit easier to understand. I misinterpreted some things in my notes; I'm unsure whether this fault actually lies on the sound design, since I was listening without headphones again. I did notice a gentle breeze at the beginning of the episode, which got me into the atmosphere. I also noticed that the creatures outside were sounding a little fucked up while Arthur here was still hearing birds. There's one bit at the end of the transcript that's really raw, but left me confused:

His voice fades away. The noises of the barnacles rise even higher. The bear roars. So does the ocean.

It's quite evocative, but it made me give the end of the episode another listen, because I did not catch any ocean sounds on my first go. It's faint, but you can definitely hear the ocean if you're paying attention. I have to imagine that this is metaphorical, otherwise it raises a lot more questions about how this anomaly works.

This episode had a lot of good dialogue lines, too. For as much as I make fun of Arthur, he delivers some real bangers, such as the following:

"How can you know something's dead if you don't know how it lives?"

and:

"The point is, I ripped out the part that rots. Now, the healing can begin."

I give the guy a lot of shit, but you can tell that he's a writer. (I also really like his VA; they use him a lot, but I find him to be quite effective.)

Overall, I really like this episode. I'm still a little shaky on how the Ick works, but since this is a monster of the week show, I don't think I need to dwell on it much. Some anomalies might play by different rules than others. That's something to keep in mind. I found the theming of the episode to be fantastic: guy moves to the woods with nobody to escape what he feels are the faults of humanity. Guy rejects connection in doing this. Guy then finds connection by succumbing to the horrors. I can't quite articulate it, but it's a fun turn-around. I look forward to more episodes like this.

Sometimes I think about this old friend I used to have. I think he was 6 years older than me? And in hindsight this friendship was like a buffet of red flags but nothing really came out of it?

I literally met this guy on 4chan, so... Yeah. First red flag. I was 14 and really into mlp and i drew fanart for it, and he wanted to put together like a fan art collection for a specific niche on the board. We exchanged contact info on it (I know) and just started talking and being friends. So I'm pretty sure he was 20 at this time.

We'd talk about sex pretty frequently? Like not in regards to doing it with each other at all just, sharing turn ons and offs and casually sending each other nsfw things. I was always really open about that kind of stuff even from a young age and they're like the same kind of convos I had with people of my own age too at the time that don't seem unhealthy to me in hindsight. Lots of just raunchy humor too. But I have to wonder if the age gap between us put those conversations in a different context for him.

I even specifically remember him sending me an nsfw drawing one time of a character from a 90s kids cartoon. And I was like "woah isn't that character only like 9 or 10?" And he was like "yeah but it's fine cuz it's a cartoon" and I, at like 15, didn't really know much about this topic and didn't want to argue and possibly push away someone who had become a close friend to me but it felt icky so I was like "hmmm I just don't like that so please don't send me nsfw art of children characters" and he backed off. Years later I realized this is a tactic used by groomers to normalize the concept of underage ppl having sex. But like I had already been sexually active with ppl my own age at this point and just was not attracted to him? So the only thing I felt was "ew please don't do that again."

He'd commission art from me a lot. I wasn't very great at art but he'd consistently commission me, mostly nsfw. I had no problem with that but again in hindsight I wonder if there was an extra layer of enjoyment for him knowing that a 14/15/16 year old was drawing his porn. He even asked me like a few days after I turned 18 if I could draw nsfw art of him and his gf (yeah he had a gf this whole time too) and send me nude photos "for Reference" now that I was "legal". I was like sure and he sent them but I never ended up drawing them.

When I was like 17 or 18 we actually started hanging out irl after realizing he lived close to a family member who I visited every summer. (My family was so paranoid about me "meeting up with a guy you met on 4chan???!!!" And I was like girl relaaaaax it's fineeeee I've been talking to this now 24 year old for 3 years. Lmao. Sorry fam I get it now.)

Nothing ever really happened on these hangouts? He even took me to his house twice but didn't do anything. There was the same raunchy jokes and openness about sex but he didn't ever touch me or afaik try to flirt with me. EXCEPT one time he said something like "you know i always thought if me and [gfs name] weren't together that you and I would go out" n I was like "huh? No silly we're just friends and you're too old for me lol. I've never thought of you like that!" And he never brought it up again.

Anyways we didn't talk as much the next few years because I just kind of ghosted EVERYONE after high school (no object permanence and bad mental health) until eventually when I was 20 he randomly blocked me. Welp. I'm 25 now and haven't heard from him since. Anyway that's my story of how I was probably definitely being groomed but was saved by the power of autistically not realizing he was showing interest in me.

The second card to come out was the 8 of Wands.  This card is a fast-paced period where there is a lot going on for you.  This makes sense with that 2 of Pentacles and may be a major factor for why you are trying to balance everything that’s going on.

The third card to come out was the 7 of Wands.  This is associated with perseverance.  This can also suggest a bit of a competitive or tense environment.

The fourth card to come out was the 6 of Wands.  This is a card associated with being on your way to success.  It’s also a reminder to be proud of your accomplishments and believe in yourself.

The Bouquet and the Coffin came out.  This doesn’t seem to be a great combination to come out, since together they can mean an unpleasant surprise.  

The Snake was under the deck.  With those other cards, this could suggest that the gift could be kind of passive aggressive rather than one that’s intended to make you happy.  Perhaps the unpleasant surprise is learning that someone you considered a friend isn’t really that great of a friend for you or something like that.

This is focused on advice for how to proceed through 2023.

The first card to come out was Self-Care: Time To Cleanse.  Basically, take care of yourself and don’t neglect your own well-being, especially during those busy times.  I feel like this also goes along with The Devil and dealing with negative habits.

The third card to come out was Wild Cat: You Never Know What’s Lurking.  I feel like this suggests that there may be something that catches you off-guard.  Basically, there may be some situation(s) that may have more underneath the surface than it may seem at first.

Under the deck was Friendship: Care Is There.  Basically, just a reminder that there are people you can rely on that care for you.  Even when focusing on independence, that doesn’t mean you can’t rely on friends for support at times.

I would re-watch Strangers from Hell because now that I live in a tiny apartment filled with strange people I understand how things progressed the way they did

how easy it is to go crazy when craziness is all you know, how the people who surround you become your world and standard of normalcy, how people can get under your skin and draw out the worst in you while your focus is so hyperfixated on the stew of psychopathic behavior that you can't even see what's wrong anymore, especially when that person seems, at first, to care for and understand you...it's given me food for thought and a hefty impetus towards introspection. I'll definitely be thinking about this show a lot in the future. Bad company truly does corrupt good morals.

HOWEVER,

Just started Devil Judge because I heard it referenced alongside "The Merciless"

Looove the concept and I think there's a lot that can be said about it, as for the plot, idk what's going on yet but THIS GUY ^^^ is GORGEOUS ^^^ so I'll keep watching~ hehe~ i had a crush on him like 10 years ago from Protect the Boss and holy guacamole he looks the SAME but now EVIL??? Or...NOT??? NOT SURE?? (I drew awful fan art of him as a young kpop teenager before that was a thing!!! It was TVXQ! era in a small town, someone looked at my sketchbook and asked 'why'd you draw an angry Hawai'ian man' and I answered "actually this is Ji Sung he's a Korean actor" and then they're like 'why'd you draw an angry Korean man' I've remembered this interaction for 10 years) First ep was a lil confusing but as per Kdrama rules you must give it at least two eps before drawing a conclusion.

Also everyone keeps saying things like "Lawful husbands" and from the amount of trespassed space bubbles and mysterious stares in the first episode I'm expecting some bromance or maybe ANTI bromance?? bro-loathing?? I guess there will also be a point where I'll say "oh, that's what they meant", we'll see!

If the idea of Goncharov's *story* appeals to y'all (like, outside of the meme, if you were like, 'oh, I would watch that movie if it existed'), "The Merciless" should probably be on your watchlist

It's a complicated angsty relationship gangster tension plot-twisting ride of a tragic violent shoot-em-up heartbreak-fest and I have so many feelings about it hhffsdfghhghghhhhhh

(and it got like an 8 minute standing ovation at Cannes if that is convincing to anyone)

ALSO in the running for "existent gangster movies that are literally earth shaking in scope and layers of analyses" is my all-time favorite "A Bittersweet Life"

OKAY TO BE REAL THO.... my spirk journy:

When I first started watching star trek, i did not know spirk existed... HONEST!!!! i was like 13 and i wasnt really active in any star trek fanspaces... just existing in pure bliss and enjoying the show for what it was.... den... as i kept existing through life i was peripherally away of spirk but i never even had one thought about it and if i did that thought was probably like "oh thats kinda weird and funny" THEN... a year before i started my tumblr account, i went to an antique store and found a star trek zine. It was not a spirk story, just a little bit gay. this was during my first year of college when i had yet to make any friends. I found that zine and showed it to some aquantences who thought it was pretty funny, and we all spend an afternoon reading it together, laughing, and speculating if it was supposed to be gay (it was not k/s, but it was still a little gay)... one of those people turned out to be my now very close friend austin (HI AUSTIN) and perhaps this moment shared between us helped our beautiful friendship grow. Either way this was one of my best memories from my shortly lived pre-covid college experience... this made me associate good feelings with star trek zines, and when i went on ebay to check out more i was extremly amused to find that a lot of them were kirk and spock... this is what me and my friends had joked about with the first zine... but for realsies this time... SO i went on ebay and bought some authentic K/S zines and this coincided with me making my tumblr blog.... in January of 2021 i began yet another rewatch of tos... and i was enjoying it so much.. but i wanted someone to talk to about it!!! so i joined tumblr,,, ALSO since i was intrested in zines, RIGHT before i started my tumblr account i looked it up and found that people on tumblr were STILL making spirk zines, which i had become obsessed with, SO I SIGNED UP TO CONTRIBUTE MY ART TO A SPIRK ZINE.. which i did and it was physically printed like 6 months later. anyway i made my first post on january 15th... and by januery 18th... i had reblogged my first spirk post.. then that same day i posted this... as i struggled to come to terms with the fact i shipped spirk

then on febuary 7th... i made a spirk post that got 1.5 K notes... my first taste of spirk clout...I would say my main spirk era lasted untill i started watching tng, which i did in may of 2021. In may i also made a post that likened spirkies to johnlockers, and although i did not say anything negative about spirk shippers, but if i was compairing them to johnlockers i must have been growing wearing. i must also note that during this period, i used to get a lot of random anons that were just like "i love your blog! your content is so funny!" or whatever... and this was like kind of a regualr theing. this really did stop when i started posting about tng more and probably started acting a lot more mean and now i just get anons asking me if i have a gas leak in my house.. just saying. I enjoyed a summer of tng content, and slowly started to realize that i could like a trek that wasnt tos... THEN .. by septerber.. i made my first negative spirk post... a disturbing trend that would be repeated

i was very wearing about saying something negative about spirk, as i knew a lot of my followers and friends LOVED spirk.. but it has began to really grate my nerves. then it was all down hill from there!! anyway, i wont lie. i used to get the spirk feels man. i even read a couple fanfics man!! drew some fan art!!!! idk. i moved on to greener pastures. i used to say sappy things about spirk!!! i think that... me ... shipping spirk and liking that a lot is very much tied to online schooling and a time in my life when i was feeling very isolated from genuine friends. I'm not trying to say like spirk was a trauma response or anything, but its just weird how different my life was a year and a half ago, like much more different then it should have been. it was just like me and spirk against the world back then.... actually like right now writing this post im having a revelation that im probably so soured on spirk because it reminds me of a time in my life when i was a lot less happy then i am right now.. ISNT THAT WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!!! the parellels im drawing.. wow i never thought of it like this before.. okay mind blown. good night everyone

The silver doors closed in his face and Wally couldn’t find it in himself to turn around and face the family behind. She wasn’t wrong for being upset and hostile, but something deep down inside naively assumed there would’ve been a teary reunion at the end of the night.

He hung his head and sighed heavily, turning around to pay the piper. “I’m sorry,” he murmured. “I thought…I thought I could—”

“How could you keep this from us!” Dick interrupted, angrily thrusting the letter towards Bruce. “We could’ve done more to find her! Released some statement about this! Told her earlier that she was wrong!”

Bruce’s face still held that indomitable impassivity as he responded calmly, “Dick, it would’ve caused more problems for us all if we’d released something pertaining to the information on the letter.”

“And making up some bullshit about (Y/N) fucking off to Europe was the betteroption?” Jason retorted, pointing at his father as he accused, “All those letters and pictures she supposedly sent were bullshit too, weren’t they?” He scoffed. “Of course they were. She’s been living here for the last three years.”

Tim, who’d been silent as his brothers delivered their harsh criticisms, murmured, “Bruce has a point guys.”

“Seriously?” Jason replied, eyes wide in shock. “You’re defending this?”

“Putting out the information in the letter would’ve made it seem like Bruce was irresponsible and inattentive to us.”

“But we—”

“Jason, Child Services would’ve conducted investigations into the manor.” Tim leveled him with a serious expression. “They could’ve taken me and Damian if they found things not to their likings.”

Jason went silent in agreement, but his pursed lips told Tim that he didn’t like it, and the rest of them matched the stillness.

Wally collapsed into the seat beside Dick. “I’m sorry, Dick,” he murmured remorsefully. “I thought I could help fix things.”

Dick was silent for a long time, then he sighed and shook his head. “It’s not your fault, Wally. You did the best you could.” He turned his blue eyes onto the speedster. “If anything, it was ours for cornering her.” He rubbed his temples. “I should’ve listened to you the first time when you told me to meet in Central instead of doing…this. She might’ve felt less threatened if we hadn’t ganged up on her.”

Wally looked away, the memory of (Y/N)’s disappearance still fresh in his mind and replaying as if it was still happening.

He could count on one hand how many times things had actually unnerved him to his core, and this one by far topped every instance of dread filled panic. And it certainly wasn’t the ecstatic atmosphere of Wayne-Family-Pizza-Fridays that was drilling him so hard—it was the confession that kept slipping onto his tongue, forcing him to swallow it down to avoid ruining everything.

“Wally, you good?”

His eyes darted to Jason’s, who were uncharacteristically concerned, and he gave a tight smile. “Yeah man, just chilling.”

Jason snorted. “You look like you’ve got a stick up your a—your butt,” he finished when Alfred’s glare hit him.

“Sorry, just thinking about some things.” He took a piece of pizza from one of the boxes, handing it to Cass who silently held her plate out, then proceeded to get himself one. “Don’t let me stop the story,” he quipped, and Jason shook his head, but went back into some story about kicking Two-Face’s ass the other night.

Maybe he should tell Dick later? Wouldn’t that be better than telling the whole family? A frown etched onto his face as he chewed, but it all tasted bitter. (Y/N) didn’t want to be found and she seemed pretty adamant about it as well. Maybe she was right? Maybe they did ignore her a lot. Bruce doesn’t exactly have the best track record of keeping up with all his kids, I mean look at Jason. And then everybody else gets sidetracked in their own lives and things just get forgotten along the way. Was she one of those things? Their own sister? No, they couldn’t—

Laughter exploded across the table, Cass pressing her face into Tim’s arm to stifle her giggles, Stephanie cackling at Tim for snorting soda out of his nose, and that just set everyone off again. Dick and Damian pointing at Tim while their faces turned red from laughing so hard, Jason was crying at that point, and surprisingly, Barbara and Bruce had their heads in their hands. The only one not laughing was Wally.

“I know where (Y/N) is.” He blurted and the table went dead quiet as everyone stared at him.

For a full minute, no one said a word.

“What did you just say?” Dick asked and Wally swallowed, looking at him.

“I…I know where (Y/N) is.” He looked at Bruce and that weighted stare made the words fall right out of his mouth. “She’s been living in Central under the alias Melisandre Hale. Has been for the last three years.”

“What,” Dick started, but shook his head like he couldn’t comprehend. “What are you talking about, Wally? (Y/N)’s in Italy.”

Wally shook his head. “No, Dick, she’s not. And she never was. She left three years ago and has been living a completely different life up until now.”

“Until now?” Jason repeated. “What do you mean until now?”

“Dick and the other Titans came to hang out in Central two months ago and Melisan—(Y/N)mentioned herself. Rather curiously I might add.” He shrugged. “Now that I think about it, that was her way of dipping a toe into the water to see the ripples. To see where she was in the grand scheme of things.”

His eyes drifted to Dick’s. “When I showed you her picture you offhandedly commented on how similar they looked to one another and that night—”

“You went to confront her,” Dick finished, eyes flashing, and Wally wasn’t sure if it was from anger or sadness or some other heavy emotion the eldest brother was feeling about his baby sister. “…How’d she react when you did?”

Wally sighed, slouching in the hardwood chair. “Not in the positive, Dick.” He glanced at Bruce. “She doesn’t want to be found. And she certainly doesn’t want to be met by anyone. Especially…especially anyone here.”

“(Y/N)’s our sister,” Tim retorted. “What do you mean she doesn’t want to meet us?” he was already rising from his seat and that seemed to spark every brother to do so.

Wally’s hand shot out, wrapping around Dick’s wrist. “Dick, I’m being serious. Don’t corner her. Let me handle this.”

Dick tried to pull away, but he held tight. “You will handle this. We’ll all handle it together.”

“You don’t understand, Dick. If you want this to play out the way you’re planning, you need to come to Central alone with me.” He gazed at the others. “We need Dick to do this himself and then we can see about bringing her back here.”

Jason scowled. “With all due respect Wally, she’s our sister. Not yours.”

And with that, Dick pulled away firmly and Wally watched as the lot headed for the cave, the young women and Bruce still seated at the dinner table. He groaned and put his head in his hands, knowing this was going to come back to bite him in the ass.

“Wally,” someone said quietly. “Is she okay?”

He looked up, meeting Bruce’s eyes. His mouth opened, ready to lie, but he sighed and shook his head. “No,” he answered honestly. “(Y/N) isn’t the shy girl I remember. Especially when I confronted her. She was…cold and indifferent.” His mouth drew into a taut line and he stared at Bruce. “This isn’t going to end well, isn’t it?”

Bruce wiped his mouth on the napkin in his lap then stood from his seat, pushing in the chair behind him. “No, Wally. No, it’s not.”

He shook the memory away and instead of looking at any of the brothers, he looked at Bruce. “So, what do we do now?”

“We go find her and bring her back to Gotham, that’s what we do,” Jason griped, crossing his arms over his chest.

“No,” Bruce said firmly. “If (Y/N) wants to stay here, then we’ll let her.”

“WHAT?!” all three of the boys around him shouted in unison, their eyes practically bulging out of their heads.

He merely looked on. “We’ll wait for her to meet us halfway.”

“And what if she tries to leave again?” Dick questioned angrily and Bruce turned his slate gray eyes to him.

“We’ll know.”

“How?” Tim asked. “If she left the first time, what’s stopping her from leaving again?”

Wally cleared his throat and if he were a lesser man, he would’ve cowered under their withering glares as he admitted, “Actually, I tagged (Y/N) with a bug.”

“You did what?” Jason questioned, brows furrowing.

“I tagged a pocket in her purse with a bug when she wasn’t paying attention earlier in the car.”

“And you’re sure she won’t just throw that purse away? She left the house with money and a suitcase of necessities. A purse doesn’t seem that way.”

Wally snorted and crossed his arms. “(Y/N)’s purse is a Givenchy black bag that she found at a thrift store for thirty dollars. She might be a different person after living on minimum wage, but deep down she’s still a billionaire’s daughter who can’t help but love expensive things.” He grinned rather cockily. “She’s not going to get rid of a two-thousand-dollar purse she found for thirty. Even if she throws away everything else she’s got.”

He shifted his gaze to Bruce. “I think waiting for her is a good option, but you might want to do something more.”

“Like what?” Tim asked.

Wally shrugged. “Write her personal letters. The semester ends in three months and she won’t leave before it does, or she’ll have to pay those classes off.” He stared them down. “You’ve got three months to wear her down into staying on grid before she goes off again.” His eyes hardened. “And you know as well as I that if she goes off…we won’t find her ever again.”

You know you’re a kick ass pediatric surgeon, you have no need to prove it to anyone at all, certainly not the ass who runs the Neuro department. Well until you’re forced to work a case with him, anyway.

“...and you won’t embarrass yourselves, or me. I don’t want to hear any stupid questions, understood?”

You chuckled as you heard the grumbles of junior residents as you neared the corner.

“Yewon is getting them whipped into shape,” Jieqiong giggled, keeping in step with you.

“I remember being a resident with my own group to wrangle and look after,” you reminisced. “And I remember not wanting them to screw up.”

“Were they at least smart?” she asked. “Mine were dumb.”

“They’re all smart,” you replied. “They still have a lot to learn early in residency, and even as fellows,” you smirked. “But even first year interns have some smarts in their brains, or they wouldn’t be here.”

Jieqiong mulled over your words as you rounded the corner.

“If all goes well, you won’t all look like complete idiots today.” Yewon said sternly, her resident’s eyes going wide as they spotted you.

“If all goes well,” you chimed. “You will all learn something today, and leave tonight as better doctors.”

Yewon whipped around, your name falling off her lips and her face blushing deeply. 

“H-How are you this morning?”

“Good, now that I know you have them whipped into shape,” you winked and nudged Yewon who blushed even more deeply as Jieqiong giggled. The residents looked between the three of you, unsure expressions on their faces.

“Alright, I trust you all know who I am, but since I haven’t worked with most of you yet, names.”

You listened and did your best to memorize as the five residents listed off their names, Kyla Massie, Shin Ryujin, Lee Chaeryeong, Kim Bada and Shin Yuna. 

“Welcome to the pediatric ward,” you said brightly, starting down the hall as the residents followed you quickly. “Things are a little different here than the rest of the hospital. We’re dealing with kids.”

You turned to face the group outside a room. “Kids who believe in magic and fairy tales, and very scared parents who understand the realities of what their children are going through. Some people think we’re just working on smaller humans but there's a lot more to it than that. This is a lot harder than it looks.”

The residents all had hesitant looks on their faces and you gave them a reassuring smile. “You will all be fine. Let’s get started shall we?”

You led the group into the room where a tiny, excitable six year old was sitting on the bed with a tube in her nose. She smiled at you brightly and reached out for a hug as Ryujin started to present her case. You only gave half your attention to the presentation, the other half on the small girl bouncing beside you and tugging on your sleeve.

“Psst,” she whispered.

“Yes?” You chuckled.

“The nurses gave me paper and I drew you a picture!”

“You did! Well now I want to see it,” you smiled. She pulled out the picture and showed you the drawings of her dogs happily until your pager buzzed.

“Does that mean you gotta go help someone?” She asked.

“It does,” you hummed. “But I’ll come back and check on you later okay?”

She tugged you closer and whispered to you. “Can you bring me a lollipop next time? Just don’t tell mommy cuz she said candy is bad for my tummy.”

“I’ll see what I can do,” you chuckled before standing up fully and leaving the room with the residents.

“Yewon, cover the rest of rounds. Jieqiong we’re needed in the pit.” You said. “The rest of you, I’ll be back up as soon as I can, impress Yewon because she will tell me who did the best job later.”

You bid your goodbyes and hurried to the elevator, Jieqiong in tow. She searched through her tablet as you led the way to the ER.

“Were we called for a consult?” She asked.

“I was, but I have a feeling I’ll want an extra set of hands.”

“A feeling?” She questioned.

You shrugged. “After a while sometimes you just get a feeling that a certain case will be a lot.”

Jieqiong mulled that over as you led the way through the ER and to the bed. Jongho was standing next to the bed and he perked up when you saw him, your eyes travelling from him to the girl in the bed. She had to be around 10 or so and her arms were all bruised, she had bandages wrapped around her arm and she looked up at you curiously. Her parents stood off to the side nervously.

“We know how this looks,” Her mom was quick to speak up before you had managed to say a word. “We- With all the bruises we know but it’s not what it looks like-”

“I’m clumsy!” The girl said brightly. “I’m Eunbin!”

You waved at her as her dad spoke. “She is,” he chuckled, seeming a little anxious. “She gets hurt a lot.”

“Well it looks like you’re all patched up,” you smiled at Eunbin. “Dr. Choi, mind going over her chart with me?” Jongho nodded and followed you while Jieqiong talked with Eunbin and her parents.

“Why did you pull me away from rounds, Choi?” You asked seriously.

“I mean the bruises-”

“You know how to call CPS on your own, what do you think is going on?”

“They-” Choi took a deep breath. “I don’t think the parents are giving the whole history, o-or they don’t know it. They’re foster parents so they might not know her whole past but I think something else is going on here. I-I think we should order an MRI. They said she’s clumsy and gets hurt, has trouble walking these days.”

“You’re thinking tumour,” you said.

Jongho nodded. “I’m thinking tumour.”
