I need you to understand that the very straight and immediate line from someone's very confident "I don't like mice/I've handled mice before so I know what they're like" to joyous wonder as they hold the first calm, friendly mouse they've ever held and murmur "they're so soft/sweet/warm/gentle" practically to themselves is basically a drug
"I work at a petstore," says the young man with much disdain, "so I don't really need to hold another one. I know what they're like."
"These aren't petstore mice," I say, as I turn my hand over and the mouse holds on tighter. "They're not like any mouse you've ever held," I say, as I close my hand gently around the mouse and flip her onto her back for a second so I can touch her mouth and demonstrate how difficult it would be to get one of my mice to bite.
"I'm sure you've handled them extensively from a very young age, though."
"They haven't been handled before today, except to be moved into clean cages." She arranges herself in my hand and cleans her face. "Are you sure you don't want to hold one?"
He opens his hands, and she pours from my hand into his like a viscous liquid. She is soft and warm and sweet, and his entire face lights up when she hunkers down onto his warm hand and closes her eyes.
"....She's changing my mind."
"They tend to do that when you leave it open."
He took her and two companions home.

ive talked to a lot of ppl who have taken vyvanse now and i think ik a bit more on how i need to live on it
#1) dopamine drops on lower dosages or high dosage but in the evenings feel like hell and it wont ever stop you have to just breathe#you will stop breathing well and you wont notice it so you have to remember to breathe deeply. this helps immensely for some reason#2) you will stop processing the existence of food as a consumable thing and not just an object like Table or Cardboard. you will not want to#eat anything. you have to buy meal replacement shakes. sweetness is one of the only pleasant flavours. eat protein. eat as much protein as#you can. down those meal replacament shakes. get enough for a day. try not to into calorie deficits on vyvanse.#3) your mind will be searching for cognitively complex tasks and everything else dwarfs in comparison. dont lay down. do something.#4) you have to exercise. fully exercise at the gym not a home 20 min work out. you need to push your body right now so that you can be ok#5) nothing will be as intense and vivid and beautiful and there will be a layer of seperation between you snd reality even on a lower dosage#this is fine. this is the primary price. sunlight helps and so does doing complex tasks but you cant avoid this. remind yourself that this#is a self-induced thing and its temporary and itll fade.#6) youve been ship of theseus'd into a new person and this effect only increases later into the day. any conclusion you reach about yourself#is most likely not applicable to your non-vyvanse self.#7) carry chapstick around. keep drinking water. dry mouth starts 5 minutes after taking it#8) some of your friends have a reduced range of emotion and this makes them more stable but less capable of experiencing intense joys#and sadnesses. look at them. listen to their perspective. live like them when youre on the medication.#9) music is still gorgeous#10) you will feel very hot very fast. wear layers you can take off.#11) pick up a bow and shoot. keep shooting. keep going. shoot at least 50 arrows if you can. feel the pain in your arms and your shoulders#and then keep shooting.

To a serious degree#I have no surfaces in my room that have less than a years worth of dust on them#Generously I got and used a small desk at some point during lockdown. It is no longer useable. But I did once#I was very depressed. You see. Still am.#I do not like my bedroom. But it might be nice to have a surface. I could put a small laptop up to go to sleeps. In my room#low to medium key a hoarder about 50% of my room is a nondescript Pile.#I am now afraid to touch the Pile. I am afraid of dust. And bugs.#(I'm not allowed food in my room so its ok :thumbsup:. Um. Except one sealed chocolate package I obtained when I was about 15 that I kept in#my closet and forgot about and have thought about every day for the past 6 years because I'm too scared to look at it so I never went in my#closet again. Rendering it useless for the last few years of my life. Like a normal person would.)#I'm really normal. And healthy. And my mental problems do not impede my quality of life whatsoever.#Anyways the point of this was that I could just take my notetaking laptop to bed and see if I end up writing trying to sleep#bc I hate typing on mh phone tbh#But. Well. No bedside table#(i have a small piece of it that is useable and this is Barely.)

i hate getting gifts because first of all are you trying to buy me make me feel obligated to you so I feel the need to be polite and sweet to you all the time and secondly once you inevitably leave what the fuck am i supposed to do with them
