2023 TXTPALOOZA report

TOMORROW X TOGETHER proved their worth at Lollapalooza

Music festival Lollapalooza was held from August 3 through 6 this year in Chicago, Illinois. The names that were on the headliner list along with TOMORROW X TOGETHER are as follows: Billie Eilish, Karol G, Kendrick Lamar, the 1975, Lana Del Rey, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The boys of TOMORROW X TOGETHER were the second Korean artists—after j-hope performed there last year—, and the first Korean group, to headline the festival that draws some 400,000 people to the grounds of Grant Park every year. Let’s take a look at three words and phrases that capture all the excitement the group brought to the Bud Light Stage on August 5.

1. HEADLINER

This year at Lollapalooza, not only did TOMORROW X TOGETHER perform, but so did NewJeans, who played the festival’s T-Mobile Stage on August 3. Then there’s BLACKPINK, who headlined both Coachella in April and BST Hyde Park in July. Not only is it becoming a more common sight to see K-pop artists performing at major long-running festivals within and outside of the US, but, as in TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s case, they’re also being afforded better and better timeslots and stages. The recent rising demand for K-pop at festivals demonstrates both the power of K-pop fans and the inroads K-pop has made into the music market. TOMORROW X TOGETHER made their first appearance at Lollapalooza in the summer of 2022 with a 45-minute set. The documentary TOMORROW X TOGETHER: OUR LOST SUMMER, covering their US tour and stop at Lollapalooza, shows how the members of the group worried about the kind of reaction they might get at the festival. But their fears were allayed when their performance was met with ear-splitting cheers and the crowd singing along to the group’s hits. The show led to even more people in the US finding out about them and converted more listeners into fans. Then, a year later, the boys returned to the festival, but this time as headliners—with a longer concert on a bigger stage and with an even more enthusiastic audience.

2. MOAPALOOZA

TOMORROW X TOGETHER started performing at 8:30 PM, but “TXTPALOOZA” was already trending in the US on X (formerly Twitter) that morning. It was already clear two days beforehand how much buzz there was surrounding the group’s upcoming performance. There was a TOMORROW X TOGETHER pop-up store near Grant Park selling merchandise for the group’s Lollapalooza concert that was open for the duration of the festival, and BIGHIT MUSIC reported more than 200 people waiting in line for the opening on August 3. There was a line to get into the store for the entire four days it was open, with fans sharing and swapping things like photocards.

When the morning of TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s performance came, it started to rain over Chicago, but that didn’t stop MOA from crowding around the entrance to the festival grounds from early in the day in order to secure a spot close to the stage. By the afternoon, the standing area of the Bud Light Stage was already packed with MOA and their blue light sticks. When other artists performed throughout the day, it didn’t matter which direction the audience cam was facing: the giant screen showed a sea of light sticks and homemade signs bearing the names of the TOMORROW X TOGETHER members. MOA was filled with so much enthusiasm around the pop-up store and at the stage that the burning curiosity of other festivalgoers had them asking questions about the idols and their fans. As the Sun slowly set, people wearing TOMORROW X TOGETHER shirts, carrying light sticks, and wearing telltale signs that they were MOA streamed endlessly toward the stage. By eight o’clock, not only was the standing area directly in front of the stage full of people with light sticks, but so were the areas to the sides, stretching out far from the stage. At the same time, passersby were forming into a crowd just outside the audience, curious about the K-pop group. As the concert drew closer, the giant screen played short documentaries and music videos. Even though the members themselves hadn’t yet taken the stage, cheers erupted every time something new appeared on screen and the crowd was chanting their name. The swath of TOMORROW X TOGETHER light sticks lit a brilliant blue across the darkening sky, and as the countdown began, a giant roar of excitement flowed out from the glowing azure. It was the loudest sound around the whole day.

The audience sang along to the words of each song from the instant the boys came out and opened their performance with “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You),” and continued singing together for the full 90 minutes. That included not just English songs and choruses with English lyrics, but also Korean lyrics and even an unreleased song. “I’m just excited about what song they’re going to start with, and for big fireworks,” Eliza, a MOA from New Jersey, said, adding with a laugh, “and I hope to see ‘Cat & Dog’ because I want to hear the bark in Chicago,” referring to the unofficial chant that, sure enough, the crowd broke into spontaneously when the group performed the song. A MOA from Florida named Hollie was “really excited” to find out what TOMORROW X TOGETHER would be performing this time “because I remember last year they really had a bunch of choreography,” and this year didn’t disappoint either: The audience loved the sharp choreography and dance breaks, and it was quite a sight seeing the crowd dance along to songs that have been featured in TikTok challenges, like “Good Boy Gone Bad” and “Happy Fools” featuring Coi Leray. On top of these energy-filled numbers, there were also emotionally charged songs like “Anti-Romantic” and the unreleased song “Blue Spring” that moved the audience to tears as they sang along. The rollercoaster of a set list closed with “Sugar Rush Ride” and fireworks to go alongside. MOA continued to chant “TXT” even after the concert came to an end. It’s safe to say that MOA’s enthusiasm was the secret sauce that turned an already fantastic performance into an unforgettable experience. Ask anyone who was in Chicago that day, and they’ll let you know it was really MOAPALOOZA.

3. TXT MADE HISTORY

“You could probably hear it across Michigan Avenue long before the concert started,” magazine Consequence writes of MOA’s screaming as the audience watched the countdown to the start of the show. “The last 10 seconds might have registered on the Richter scale.” MOA’s passion that day was noted by major media outlets as well. “Fans who queued early, blue cross-adorned light sticks in hand, got to prove their adoration by singing along to TXT’s unreleased track ‘Blue Spring,’” Rolling Stone reported, “and witness a band who didn’t take any part of the experience for granted.” And all that excitement extended to MOA online. That same day, “TXTPALOOZA” was the third-most popular trending tag on X worldwide; immediately after the group’s performance, phrases like “TXT LOLLA 2023 HEADLINERS” were trending in the US. In Korea, mentions of the songs on the set list bubbled up in real time. People watching online through Weverse, YouTube, Hulu and the like made comments like, “The audience there is even good at singing the Korean parts,” and, “I can tell how popular they are in the States!”—because even watching online, you could hear the cheering loud and clear.

Consequence made a  statement with how they titled their review: “TOMORROW X TOGETHER Make History.” But it’s about more than just the fact that the group was a headliner or how much noise the fans made. The biggest takeaway is how well they performed up on stage. “As the show progressed it became clear how much TXT have grown,” the magazine’s article continues. “The stage banter was looser than last year, they looked more comfortable, and more of their personalities came through,” and said the athletics behind their choreography made them look like “superhumans.” TOMORROW X TOGETHER performed their set front to back without a single break and still had plenty of energy left to work the crowd and get them to excitedly sing along and cheer. Their performance also led to online comments like, “You can tell how much better they got after their world tour,” and, “They look so natural—like rock stars.” British music review outlet NME gave TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Lollapalooza concert a perfect score, saying, “Their performances are tight and impactful, their vocals phenomenal, and their stage presence nothing short of rock star status.” US entertainment site Vulture went so far as to say that “the group put on one of the weekend’s biggest spectacles.”

Winter, another MOA at Grant Park, summed up the significance of TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s performance at Lollapalooza where she said, “I think being headliners shows not only that they have a strong fan base but they keep growing and growing.” TOMORROW X TOGETHER already proved their popularity in the US earlier this year with a Billboard 200 number one and over 500,000 albums sold; their performance at Lollapalooza made that popularity tangible right in front of the eyes of tens of thousands. The opportunity to headline the festival also gave them another chance to show everyone at the festival who they are. TOMORROW X TOGETHER first traveled to Chicago four years ago, right after their debut, to put on a showcase. After the prolonged pandemic, the group kicked off the North American leg of their world tour with a performance in the city, only to come back again later in the year with their spectacular first Lollapalooza performance. The following year—this year—after performing to stadiums across the US, the group returned to the Lollapalooza stage, this time as headliners, and will soon be performing at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). MOA’s unmistakable blue light over Grant Park that night stood as a symbol of how much the group had grown in the meantime and why they were invited back to the festival. And as has been clear to anyone paying attention so far, that blue light will only continue to grow in size and intensity—until it lights up the entire sky, wider and brighter—with TOMORROW X TOGETHER.

Pitch for a Supermassive Games storyline:

1) The Title

RADIOACTIVE

2) The Prologue

1945, Los Alamos, New Mexico. The Trinity test is a success, resulting in the creation of the first atom bomb. However, a few months later, Dr. Carl McGregor (the red herring protagonist) is called to Los Alamos to investigate a mysterious set of events plaguing the area. Reports of people going missing and residents going crazy have the Pentagon spooked.

One night, Dr. McGregor and his staff are attacked by mysterious shadowy figures. Despite Dr. McGregor’s attempts to flee, he is eventually cut down by what appears to be a “glowing” creature.

(Basically, the villain of this game is some kind of creature that was mutated by the nuclear testing. So, a riff/homage to Godzilla. However, instead of creating kaijus, the monster is much smaller and comparable to the wendigos in “Until Dawn” and the werewolves of “The Quarry”)

3) The Main Story

In the present day, we follow the Proudstar family who live on the G. A. Romero Reservation, which is a few miles away from Los Alamos. The area has become the center of ghost stories due to people still going missing. Of the ghost stories, the most infamous one is that people are being kidnapped by “the skinwalkers”, who in Navajo culture are witches that have the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal.

(Obviously, the skinwalkers are the radioactive creatures from the prologue. The introduction of the skinwalker legend is meant to be a misdirection)

The Proudstars, who run the local market, have to frequently deal with tourists who want to see “the skinwalkers”. The Proudstars usually dismiss these tourists, especially since a great deal of them tend to be obnoxious (and borderline racist/ignorant). The family, although they’re aware of the legends, aren’t too concerned since they haven’t encountered the supposed skinwalkers.

Around this time, two groups of outsiders arrive at the reservation. The first is a group of ghost hunters who are trying to capture footage of the skinwalkers. The second is a group of ruthless gangmembers that take the Proudstar family hostage.

The first 4 chapters focus on the Proudstars dealing with the gangmembers. Simultaneously, the ghost hunters encounter a “skin-walker”, which turns out to be one of the radioactive creatures from the prologue. The ghost hunters flee the radioactive monsters and make their way to the Proudstar market, putting them in the middle of the hostage situation. They also unintentionally bring the monsters to the market, thus leading into the 2nd half.

The remaining 6 chapters focuses on the Proudstars, the gangmembers, and the ghost hunters trying to work together as a team to survive the radioactive monsters (the fake skinwalkers). Similar to “House of Ashes”, either the groups can put their differences aside or tear each apart. Depending on your choices, either everyone makes it out alive…or everyone ends up meeting the same fate as the scientist from the start.

4) The Playable Protagonists

* Gustavo Proudstar (ABRASIVE, COMMANDING, RATIONAL): The patriarch of the Proudstar family. He is an army veteran and the most skeptical of his family. He is portrayed by Zahn McClarnon.

* Miriam Begay-Proudstar (CONFIDENT, RESOURCEFUL, PERSUASIVE): The matriarch of the Proudstar family. She runs the family’s market and is the most superstitious of her family. She is portrayed by Irene Bedard.

* Jason Proudstar (INSECURE, UNMOTIVATED, INTELLIGENT): Gustavo’s younger brother who he doesn’t have much respect for. He’s smart, but is lazy and fine with mooching off his brother and sister-in-law. He is portrayed by Michael Greyeyes.

* Dante Begay (CONSERVATIVE, METHODICAL, PROTECTIVE): Miriam’s younger brother who works as a tribal police officer. He generally gets along with the Proudstars, but frequently disagrees with his niece Eliza over her political beliefs. He is portrayed by Martin Sensmeier.

* Eliza Proudstar (DRIVEN, COMPLEX, IRREVERENT): The eldest daughter of Gustavo and Miriam. She is a progressive political activist who moved out to the city, but visits the family from time to time. She is portrayed by Q'orianka Kilcher.

* Wenona Proudstar (INNOCENT, AMBITIOUS, ADVENTUROUS): The youngest daughter of Gustavo and Miriam. She is a college student but secretly dreams of being a famous actress. She is portrayed by Amber Midthunder.

* Freddy Kim (FOOLHARDY, RELAXED, LOYAL): The only playable character from the ghost hunter group. He is his group’s camera man and the one who doesn’t take the ghost stories seriously. He is portrayed by Steven Yeun.

* Melissa Frost (RUTHLESS, DETERMINED, COURAGEOUS): The only playable character from the gangmembers. Although she is a ruthless thug, it’s slowly revealed that she has a heart of gold. She is the gangmember who suggests a truce with the Proudstars. She is portrayed by Victoria Pedretti.

5) Significant Non-Playable Characters (note: I’m not covering every single character in this hypothetical game)

* Samuel Fulci: The leader of the ghost hunters. He is obsessed with viewership and clout, to the point he ignores warnings about potential danger. He is portrayed by Bruce Campbell.

* Lars Waingrove: The leader of the gangmembers. He is a ruthless sociopath and the most dangerous person in the survivor group. Because of this, Lars can be considered the secondary antagonist of the game (sorta like Josh Washington or Travis Hackett, but less sympathetic). He is portrayed by Leigh Whannell.

* The CIA Agent / The Man in Black: An unnamed agent who is interrogating the player about the events of the story. Basically, this game’s version of the Psychiatrist/the Curator/Eliza Vorez. He is portrayed by Michael Biehn.

G. Stilton x Beastars crossover let’s goooooo

Anyways always been interested how this crossover would go.

So this crossover would be more on the mice and how they live their day to day lives as they are one of the smallest animals to walk in that world.

Rarely exceeding 30 centimetres and have an average lifespan of 43 years, they are neglected by society as they don’t live for that long and are easily killed by one wrong step.

In this crossover, we focus on a peculiar family of mice as they are only known by name but never been seen by any official.

This family runs an extremely popular newspaper showcasing the latest news and trends as well as exclusive interviews with celebrities.

Though what is unique about this newspaper is that the majority of their workforce are mice but they are hidden from the public’s eyes so from the outside, the majority of their hires are herbivores.

Why are the mice hidden from public eyes? Well the family also dabbles in investigatory work as the mice they train are the best in the field.

They are trained to sniff out information from black markets, disable weaponry and electronics, and take down enemies.

They are also the only mice in the country to have access to technology small enough for them carry, which also makes them even harder to detect during the job itself.

This technology is key to how this mouselet is able to survive in his school.

Only about 15 centimetres at 6 years old, Benjamin needs to be careful of where he goes and how he does it as mice are a rarity in Cherryton Academy as he has yet to grow into his adult height.

(Seeing as they only live for 43 years, I assume that they age twice as fast and that means Benjamin is about 12-13 years old)

After a few weeks, he managed to gain the friendship of a cat named Elias due to them having similar class schedules and being seat partners.

Elias is a 14-year-old cat of the Russian Blue Breed, he is around 92 centimetres tall and has a thin athletic build due to his time in the sports club.

He showed Benjamin around the school on his first day and they steadily became good friends over the next few weeks even though he has some complaints of Benjamin’s cheery airhead personality.

While Elias is glad that he is not afraid of huge carnivores, he often wishes the mouse is more aware of where he is walking as he often has to save the tiny mouse from getting squashed by unaware carnivores.

His worry now multiplied tenfold due to a predation incident in the school and the animals have to be separated and investigated as the predator evaded the school security and is now hidden among them.

And during this time, Benjamin is given a mission by his family member that leads the newspaper in which he is the one who should uncover the truth behind the predation incident as the principal refuses to speak to the reporters.

Will he be successful or will he also become the next victim? Who knows!

Affordable Housing & Tax Benefits: What Real Estate Gained in Budget 2025?

Budget 2025 has eliminated all criteria by allowing two residences to be considered self-occupied, banning the tax burden for notional rental revenue.

The Union Budget 2025 has emerged as a game changer for homebuyers, providing numerous tax breaks and incentives. The government's actions, which range from easing tax policies to increasing affordable housing, are expected to have a long-term influence on the real estate business and homebuyers.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made several important announcements on Saturday, including tax improvements under the new tax regime and the exemption of a second home from taxation for notional rental income. All homebuyers will receive from Budget 2025 is as follows:

Tax Reforms on Income: More Investments, More Savings A noteworthy outcome of the budget is the expansion of the tax refund under the new tax system. People with annual incomes up to Rs. 12 lakh (Rs 12.75 lakh for paid workers) are exempt from paying personal income tax. “This action greatly increases disposable income, enabling people to save more for housing investments," says Adhil Shetty, CEO of Bankbazaar.com. The middle class will have more money thanks to the streamlined tax system, which will boost household spending, savings, and real estate and equity investments.

Government announces SWAMIH Fund-2 to complete 1 lakh homes in stalled projects

In Budget 2025, an additional 1 lakh units will be allocated ₹15,000 crores to the new SWAMIH Fund 2, which would help lakhs of homeowners whose real estate projects have been delayed. The government's strong drive to address the housing problem is demonstrated by the completion of 50,000 dwelling units under the current SWAMIH project, with an additional 40,000 in the works, according to analysts.

The growth of the SWAMIH-2 Investment Fund stabilises the market, increases the number of ready-to-buy homes available to first-time purchasers, and may even lower the cost of housing. According to Grant Thornton Bharat Partner and Government Consulting Leader Ramendra Verma, the fund helps homebuyers, boosts trust in the real estate industry, and encourages the completion of stalled projects, all of which contribute to the sector's renaissance.

PropEquity reports that around 2000 housing projects totalling 5.08 lakh units in 42 locations are halted. There have been 345 projects totalling 76,256 units in 28 tier II cities and 1,636 projects totalling 4,31,946 units in 14 tier I cities that have stagnated.

The government wants to increase the yearly threshold for TDS on rent from the existing ₹2.4 lakh to ₹6 lakh. According to real estate experts, increasing the yearly TDS ceiling on rent from ₹2.40 lakh to ₹6 lakh will also greatly help landlords and small taxpayers by reducing the burden of compliance.

Govt. to set up ₹1 lakh Crore Urban Challenge Fund to ramp up urban infrastructure

The creation of an urban development fund will improve infrastructure, open up real estate opportunities, and turn cities into significant centres of growth.

"Incentivised urban reforms and the 1 lakh crore Urban Challenge Fund will improve city planning, municipal services, and governance—all of which are important drivers of long-term commercial growth," stated Ramesh Nair, CEO of Mindspace Business Parks REIT.

Support for Global Capability Centres (GCCs)

India would be bolstered as a global business hub by the introduction of a national guiding framework to assist states in luring and promoting GCCs. In light of India's growing economic clout, Puri predicted that this action will increase demand for office space in Tier-II and Tier-III cities as well as major metropolises like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai.

No affordable housing policies were included in Budget 2025.  The housing program would have benefited from a national policy for rental housing.

According to G Hari Babu, National President of NAREDCO, the Budget 2025 could have also addressed some important areas, especially the affordable housing segment. The government should prioritise revisions to the current housing cap, which has been stagnant for almost eight years, making it difficult for developers to deliver affordable homes within the set limits. Rising home loan interest rates and the antiquated definition of affordable housing have created barriers for many potential homeowners.

The Union Budget 2025 has undoubtedly set the stage for a transformative shift in the real estate sector, bringing relief to homebuyers and investors alike.
