"b4 u go" by 5v has been one of my favorite songs for a long time

i used to joke that it felt like the song was from the perspective of the last few sips left in a can of mountain dew. it's the production. it's very ethereal and twinkling - like the notes were pulled directly from the cosmos.

5v is a classic soundcloud artist in that, you could tell me he comes from anywhere and i'd believe you. but specifically he comes to us from germany. and i have always felt as though i could hear the influences of german pop in his music. it's in the vocals. he has the voice of an angel. it's very rave. very easily sampled and remixed. i think general rave influences are evident as well.

he has a lot of heavy hitters, with lyrics in either english or german. b4 u go has always reached me the loudest. i think it's the relatable lyrics. i want to point out that i did not turn the subtitles on - they come baked into the music video. whenever i see this it is immediately clear to me that the lyrics are very important to the artist too. he wants you to know them.

vengeance really is the definitive version because you get a bunch of doomed romances but koshimizu exclusively gets doomed chances at meaningful connections and it’s the funniest thing.

i mean in terms of actual romantic relationships you got:

dazai + yuzuru = doomed yaoi

tao + sahori = doomed yuri

yakumo + nuwa = doomed couple

protag + aogami = yaoi rollercoaster + true neutral route exclusive doomed yaoi

tao + hiromine = doomed yuri, now with extra heartbreak

everything else is usually some doomed friendship or an actual normal platonic/familial relationship but they at least win somewhere.

i have no idea what’s going on with miyazu and khonsu but they’re pretty chill and actually don’t have anything bad happen to each other. yeah miyazu is terminally ill but we never get to see what happens so they’re probably vibing until further notice. the exceptions are abdiel and dazai because that’s more world’s worst mom adopts world’s cringiest edgelord-to-be. we don’t talk about lahmu.

but then with koshimizu you get:

yuzuru + koshimizu = doomed parenthood

protag + koshimizu = doomed adoption, in which one’s constantly more depressed than he already was and doesn’t care

aogami + koshimizu = doomed siblings, in which i’m pretty sure one’s disassociating the whole time

abdiel + koshimizu = divorced parents (not even doomed divorce they had no shot and never will)

he can’t win. not in any timeline. the real doomed aspect is his inability to have a relationship without it either being miserable or having it end in death. kinda can’t help but feel bad. where did he go wrong.
