Record #296: Aphex Twin - Drukqs (2001)

The drum and bass tracks were kinda mediocre to me but i really liked a lot of the more ambient and melancholic parts of the album. Will probably come back to a few tracks and leave the rest the way god intended. Fav tracks are Jynweythek, Omgyjya-Switch7, Cock/Ver10, Avril 14th, Mt Saint Michel + Saint Michaels Mount, 54 Cymru Beats, Lornaderek, QKThr, Taking Control, Ziggomatic 17 and Nanou2. 7/10

maybe my brain’s just rotted from listening to so much Weird music that my standards of what’s accessible to the average person are incredibly off base but it will never not baffle me that no matter how mild the song in question is almost any time you play aphex twin to someone they’ll react as if it’s nails on a chalkboard mixed with diarrhea sound effects

I can imagine this is what it sounds like to have your brain scrambled and probed in front of you, yeah it may not be a pleasant expierience, but you'll come out a better person after, and whoever said music had to be pleasant anyhow? this music is volatile, confusing and abrasive, and its absolutely sick, my favorite album from my favorite artist by a long shot, nothing even comes close to this calibre of electronic music.
