i’d been planning to cast on the pure mesh pullover for a long time and when i finally decided to do it yesterday i realised i didn’t have 8mm needles which the pattern called for. i had never thought i would ever need needles that large in my LIFE—punishment for my hubris etc. i got on the bus to get to the closest yarn shop before they closed to get the needles and on the bus a goth (all black & platform boots & the hair and everything) sat across from me and was crocheting. i believe that’s a sign from the universe that i should definitely knit the mesh top.
#knitting#life#look i have every needle size from 1 to 5.5mm both dpns and circulars so i tend to never worry about not having the needles for a project 🤡#oh and another 🤡 moment none of my stitch markers fit on the 8mm so i had to improvise

Hiii I love the crochet blanket Mr. Crouton often poses with, do you have a link to a pattern?? TIA ❤️
Unfortunately I do not have an exact pattern as it was a gift from Crout's grandmaman!!! But I did find this, which has the same/similar mosaic crochet stitches!! Here's the pattern maker's video as well :-)
#ask crout#person#have fun!!!!#the pattern looks far more complicated than it really is#its rows of sc with periodic dc into the front loops of the same colour#dk weight yarn and a 5.5mm hook#this thing was a 4month long labour of love that he and i cherish

a grand total of twenty minutes into learning how to crochet, and I can report I have bought three hooks of varying sizes (5.5mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm) and bought the wrong yarn for the project I wanted to do BUT, I have sucessfully learned how to chain!! I'm watching a tutorial and practiced on my own a little bit, and I managed to create a chain of seven with only light confusion
#mikey learns how to crochet#I'm learning how to make granny squares first bc I am a nutcase (probably) and bought yarn for an 8mm hook instead of a 5 or 5.5mm#but I have the 8mm hook so I'm just using that and telling myself it's fine#crochet#any tips appreciated lol

no one prepared me for how many band aids I'd need to use a damn 3.5mm crochet hook with cotton yarn . this is hell
#crochet#crochetblr#fiber arts#anything under 5mm is hell for me#but anything above 6mm is also hell for me#long story short 5.5mm is the perfect crochet hook size imo

i dont mind having to wait for packages cuz i believe in patience is a virture etc etc but im literally nose pressed against the window whispering packidge rn because i started a crochet shawl the other day with some blue variegated yarn my cousin bought me and ive used 300g so far so i ordered more and its not coming till the 12th so my project is sitting there unfinished. torturous
#i probably should have used a bigger crochet hook size to make it tho cuz the yarn calls for a 5.5mm hook but i didnt HAVE one at the time#so i used a 3mm which. means i probably used up more yarn than i needed to but now ive just got to commit and finish it with the 3mm hook i#im using mostly triple crochets so hopefully it balances out though#emi's meandering jotts#crochet#im going to do a pom-pom yarn edging on it when i finish 😁#the colours change slowly enough to create this cool check but quick enough to also kind of marble it. its very cool i will take a photo#when its done 👍

Making a swatch right now for the yellow yarn, but I think I'm going to try to make another directional scarf with these two colors. I'm still going to give the green one as a gift. I wouldn't mind that massive mistake I made as much, if it weren't for the fact that it makes it constantly want to curl in half. We'll see if I learned from last time and whether or not I know how to cast on from the sides properly. We'll see.
I also did this scarf a while ago, but wasn't much of a fan of the color. Looking at the picture now, it does seem rather colorful, in hindsight. It has some wool in it, so it should be warmer. I have another one much like it, but it's white instead of the grey that goes throughout it, so that's probably why this one looked 'meh' to me.
Maybe I'll send this one to my grandma, too. I still need to block both of these scarves regardless: I just don't have enough blocking segments to fit even one fully, let alone two.
Something I noticed with the grey rainbow wool scarf is that it always seems to get a bit wider when it reaches the purple sections. Hopefully blocking it will help mitigate that.
#i've had this yellow yarn for a while and got it with some red and maroon with the intention of trying some colorwork or patterns#but colorwork is pretty difficult actually and i now have this yarn that would pair up actually pretty nicely with the yellow#so! we'll see how this goes!#it took me about a week to make that scarf#maybe a bit less#the striped yarn calls for 5mm but i make my own rules and am using 5.5mm#also i am of the USofA and we do have our own unit of measuring needle sizes#but it's?? easier?? to go by mm i feel#anyway it calls for 5mm needles but fuck it we ball#also#'keep the green one as a gift'? fuck does that mean wyrm you made it learn grammar#what you meant was 'i made it as a gift but i messed up on it. in spite of messing up on it i'm going to keep it as it is and send it'#'as a gift'

when you’ve gotten up to 140 on your foundation row for a scarf then realize you don’t like your tension so you have to frog it and switch to a different hook size 🫠
#sam.txt#this is on me for using a 5.5mm for a bulky-ish yarn#that was a foolish decision#i switched to 6.5

i think i crochet looser than i knit but i still crochet tighter than most people, i usually have to use several sizes larger a hook than a yarn recommends to get a nice drape

Patrick T. Stewart wrote the instructions and I ( Xandy Peters) made the charts. Whichever way you prefer to get your crochet patterns, you are covered.

Still pondering over what buttons to put on it BUT my evermore cardigan is done!!!
(Kitted on 5.5mm needles using Stylecraft DK Highland Heathers yarn in Granite & DK Special yarn in Bottle with the same pattern as my folklore cardigan)
#knitting#evermore cardigan#it's soooooooo pretty#I really am gonna need someone to stop me from knitting a cardigan in every colour#and like I still adore my folklore cardigan but I think the pattern definitely looks better in DK weight yarn#as opposed to 4ply
